Over the past few days, several new Wii U games have been either announced or rumored to be in development for the console. This is usually the case at this time of year, as we get closer to E3, more and more details tend to slip and leak or get announced early. We’ve compiled a short list of those Wii U games that are rumored for the new console. While they are still categorized as “rumored”, these titles are actually looking pretty solid and should be announced at E3. With the exception of Final Fantasy XV, which is doubtful, but we’ve included it anyway.
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Injustice: Gods Among Us has been confirmed for the Wii U by developer NetherRealm, who previously worked on Mortal Kombat. It’s a fighting game based on the DC Universe, and features characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more. It’s one of the first fighting games to be announced for the Wii U.
Splinter Cell Blacklist Wii U
Ubisoft’s latest Wii U game is rumored to be Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which will also be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Splinter Cell is one of Ubisoft’s best selling franchises, it’s no surprise they’re working on another title. The good news is that Splinter Cell: Blacklist is very likely to end up on the Wii U, given Ubisoft’s commitment to the console.
Kingdom Hearts HD Remix for Wii U
Square Enix is reportedly working on a remix of several Kingdom Hearts games, including Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and Chain of Memories, and will release the whole bundle on the Wii U as “Kingdom Hearts HD Remix”. The game is also rumored to be released on the PS3 as well.
Toki Tori 2
Developer Two Tribes has announced that their cute platfomer Toki Tori 2 is coming to the Wii U. The game will be a download-only title via the Wii U Ware service, and could be a launch title for the console. The game is already available for the PC on Steam.
Jett Tailfin, made by Maximum Games, is an underwater “racing” game for the Wii U. The game is already available on Android and will be coming to the 3DS as well. Not much is known about the game, though — for all we know, it’s the first Wii U shovelware title.
Final Fantasy XV
There are so many Final Fantasy games out there that keeping track of them is getting tough. The latest rumor suggests that Square Enix is renaming Final Fantasy Versus XIII into Final Fantasy XV and releasing it on the Wii U. FF Versus XIII is officially a PS3 exclusive, and something tells us it’ll remain that way. We’d be surprised if this particular rumor turns out to be true.
