The Wii is Nintendo’s smallest home console, and contrary to popular belief, the Wii U isn’t much bigger than the original Wii. We have collected a few images for size comparison of the two consoles, showing the Wii U vs Wii and how the two consoles are very similar when it comes to size. The images show that the Wii U is only marginally larger than the Wii. The height of the consoles is almost the same, while the Wii U is roughly 5 CM longer and 15 CM wider. These dimensions will make the Wii U console smaller than even current gen systems like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I’m no tech guru, but an honest question..

Can a really good hardware fit in there? I’m talking “really good” as in being able to hang in there with the PS4s and Nextboxes?

Part of me wants to believe that if you want good hardware, you need a bigger box, more cooling and stuff like that. I just hope the tech in there isn’t as behind as the Wii was to PS3 and X360.

  The CPU in any desktop computer is basically the same no matter what model it is and RAM in a console is also tiny in pretty much every case to date. The only things that really keep getting bigger are the video cards which is probably the reason why the console is longer than the last one. As long as they can properly vent the components they should be okay with the small size, but I wouldn’t go any smaller than what they are proposing.

    Very true, its funny how none of us came up with that comparison, I feel especially stupid myself because I am an avid PC gamer, though I own a desktop.

  oh-ho, yes you can! For starters, look at the laptop scenario; even the $700 15″ ones are about 5X more powerful than the Xbox 360. Second, you can allways slap the CPU and GPU on the same die to increase bandwidth, improve cooling, keep a small form factor AND lower production cost.

If your not a pawn, then e truly honest, even if a pawn, that thing looks like a wii knock off.. I am not hating, i am trying to help nintendo, a company i grew up with. I know what people want cause i know what i want. If nintendo could actually win 1 xbox fan, then they succeeded. Reginald fil has been turning ninty into fast food since 2003.     And p.s.s. do your homework, stop defending Reginald Fil, he is the one who introduced “disruptive innovation” to Nintendo. Do we really want disruptive tech with our computer game console? He is ambasodor for nintendo north america, not just a “face”. His plan was to use 64 hardwate to cube and wii, and distract with gimmicks. He is not sufficient. He is a fast talking conartist, and all he cares about is his 401k. He has worked many companys, at first he helps them, but his bussiness plans do not adapt to current market. He uses same tactics over and over again. He is depriving us of innovation, technology, winning, excitement, , he actualy stated, give them less.

Did you know that both Sony and Microsoft have lost billions over the last two generations of gaming because they had to sell at a loss? And what in the hell did Microsoft do for innovation? Kinect? All I have ever wanted is for Nintendo to be better, and they are doing just that, you were in another comment section last night talking about a 16 core processor for the Xbox code named “Durango” your the pawn my friend, you take a completely ludicrous rumor and you eat it up, Nintendo stated today in an investor meeting, that they lost sight of their core gamers/games on the wii, but they also said they were going to get back go the core, and that came from the president himself, not Reggie, Iwata.

Our former crew knows, been on this case since 2007. We know names of pawns, just like you all say “site”(which by the way is an infringement of privacy.) Anyways i did comment on article, “would it kill them to put an effort in design?” Gamescom 2011 was a failure for nintendo, yet they expect to wow Americans, with no significant change, at E3. I think it would be wise if nintendo completely abandons “disruptive inovation.” And completly focus on depth. This is the new market. The wii u as of now will fail. If it does fail, nintendo can redeem. But it is better to heed analysts before disaster.

Doesnt seem very good software would fit, but just might be me.
Will never be as powerful as new xbox or PS4, just won’t. Have better software and operating systems.

I like the fact that the design of nintendo’s new console is soothe unlike the designs of consoles of other leaders of the market ( have you seen the possible design of the other console they litteraly look like the thing I drop in the toilet). By the way other consoles companies aren’t able to produce quality games like nintendo(mario galaxy 1&2,zelda skyward sword,fire emblem radiant dawn and many others) this is why nintendo will always focus on gaming experience over raw console power
