Darksiders 2 Wii U box art revealed

This is the first Wii U box design reveal, according to Amazon. It shows the Darksiders 2 Wii U box art, and it looks pretty good.

According to Amazon Germany, this is the Darksiders 2 Wii U box art. From the looks of it, the box design is very similar to the previous Wii game boxes, with only the new Wii U logo added. This could of course just be a mockup done by Amazon, but it looks surprisingly good, especially the high res version (found on the German Amazon site). There’s also the customary “Licensed by Nintendo” sticker. What do you think the Wii U box art and design should be? Should Nintendo follow the Wii or create something entirely new?     I think Nintendo should change the look of it a little bit, maybe have the top entirely white, with the Wii U logo in the top middle.

    It looks too much like the Wii box. Aren’t ‘casuals’ confused that the Wii U isn’t a Wii? Now they’ll have a more of a reason to think so.

      it would be a LOT cooler if it came in a black case, and the release of a black wii u.
      then people would see, it would be for mature gamers as well as the young.

    If this is the final box design, Nintendo have made a huge mistake, one problem with the 3DS was the fact that too many people thought it was just another DS and the 3DS would work on the DS.

    Here the packaging looks pretty much the same as the Wii’s Game Packaging and the U is barely noticeable (from the point of view of someone rushing into a game retailer) so it would just look like another Wii game that can be played on the Wii.

      Yeah, don’t rush! If you payed attention in stores like Walmart, GameStop, EB Games, etc. you’d notice that games are divided into sections. Wii U Game section will be labeled Wii U. Look down from the Wii U header and browse the Wii U games.

    Black boxes would be so much cooler, but it really doesn’t matter to me. I don’t usually spend a lot of time staring at a box when I could be playing the game that it contains. I think changing to color of the box according to the rating would be kind of cool.

    E (and all variations) = white
    T = black
    M = red

      If they did that then the people that don’t pay as much attention would think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is rated M.

    I think the box designs oughta be like how the gamecube’s was: Black case. Black logo box with a cerulean blue trim. White gray-faded “Wii” wii U logo and nintendo logo on the right corner. Side of case should have designs like how ps3 andxbox360s have (according to the game) and the side logo should be on the upper end with nintendo and wii u logos.

    Picture is badass…but d case looks like a wii case maybe they should do wat d ps3 did by putting d logo on d side or making it smaller………..or just chance d color a dark red would lock great

    Hate the fact it looks like a wii game, ppl are already confused with what the wii u actually is and this would just further that. I understand that nintendo wants to keep the wii name around but do something other than slap a u on it. Why upgrade the system and controller but not your packaging, just wouldn’t make sense to me.

    This may be silly, but I think Nintendo should change from the white backdrop to black or something clearly different. They can run into some trouble in the future with consumers getting confused between Wii games and Wii U games.

    Honestly the box design doesn’t concern me that much. I don’t care if it has the same white border as the Wii boxes. It’s just a box, as long as the box art is cool and there is a game inside

    The box should be as slim as the 3DS boxes.. Or even the same size It would be kinda ecological & the discs fit perfectly on 3DS boxes I tried.. Obviusly I don’t have any discs in those boxes I just tried

    Atleast give us light blue cases…….you are not helping differante the Wii from the Wii U

    If they decide that this is how the boxes are going to look, Nintendo should switch to the small (Blu-ray/PS3/HD-DVD) cases instead so that they can be differentiated from the Wii cases.

    Unsuspecting parents/grandparents may not noticed the difference – leaving little Johnny or Jenny left out in the non-HD cold because someone didn’t read the label.

      Not if the kids want specific games and they’re only on one of the systems. Most probably will, anyhow. Besides, stores usually separate games by console, so hopefully the Wii u and Wii games won’t be too mixed. With 23+ launch window titles, and growing, it has enough to warrent its own section I think

    I like the white cases. It helps deferentiate them in my library from games from other systems using bland black cases. Although I also plan to get a white system too. It’s a color I’m particularly fond of. As far as the consumer confusing it. I find the statement a tad bit silly. Anyone who makes a mistake at the point of purchase is an idiot, and deserves it. All it takes is a little observation, and reading and you’ll know what your getting.

    Guys, come on and think, the case can’t be blue. Sony’s been blue for a while now, Microsoft is green, and Nintendo’s Wii franchise is white. Yeah, it should have something a little more, but at least this logo doesn’t take away room from the box art, and come on, you know that is some awesome box art to look at.

    I think that Nintendo should put the games in Blu-ray boxes except not as clear with the color being the color of the “U” in the Wii U logo.

    You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation however I find this matter to be actually one thing which I believe I would never understand. It kind of feels too complex and very huge for me. I’m taking a look forward on your next post, I will attempt to get the cling of it!
