Mass Effect 3 Wii U gameplay video

The first video of Mass Effect 3 Wii U in action shows how the Wii U GamePad tablet controller will be used. For example, players can customize buttons along the side of the touchscreen with shortcuts for easy access of items, weapons, commands, etc. Players can also use the secondary screen for an overview of the map, which shows enemies and passageways. You can also control your squad mates via the touch screen to quickly issue orders and commands. Finally, the video shows the player switching from the TV to playing only on the controller, a feature that all Wii U games will support. Mass Effect 3 Wii U will be a launch title this Fall. Being able to switch from the tv to playing on the only on the controller is FRICKIN’ AMAZIN’! I can’t wait to get my hands on that touch-enabled glossy-white chick magnet.

    • Bb

I want the black chick magnet…………I also want the black wii u.

    • Julio

This is awesome, can’t wait to get my hands on this as well!

      • BananaPwnz

I cant Freaking wait for WII U!!!

    • Draco Breach

I’m actually more interested in the reduced clutter ;)

I also like the control scheme. The interface allows for as much control as a PC with the minimal encumbrance of a console controller. Using the GamePad as map and radar should give a tactical advantage to help create and maintain strategies, if EA does it right.

I think ME3 will be a good experiment. I’d like to see what developers can come up with to enhance my immersion into the game, as only the GamePad can.

I’ll admit I have ideas, but I’m keeping some of them close to my chest in case I ever have the chance to use ‘em ;)

    • SanPharaoh

Whoever thumbed this down is most likely a hater.

  • Marcus

OMFC… so epic i think i gonna die

  • tim

wow, this so cool! now i can play a home console while im in bed! that is awesome beyond comprehension!

    • icanseeu

They’ve already stated that you need to be in the same room as the console as the signal doesn’t go through walls.

      • Alienfish

You might be okay if your bed is just through the wall from the system. Also it will depend on what the walls are made of and how thick/dense they are. The signal isn’t infrared so it should be able to travel through things to a certain extent.

      • Sadodi

Well maybe his Wii U is in the same room as his TV and bed? I have my Wii and my TV in the same room that I have my bed in so I think it’s pretty common for people to have that.

      • Superobed

That is so stupid i remember Nintendo made a wii u video where a person turns off the tv and takes it to his bedroom to play.

      • alex

Not true if you are close to the livimg room will work by,another hand not if ylu are in a second floor but you can take the consolewith you not the cab
cables just the Power One and play in your room if you dont have Tv or in My case play in My bathroom without pause tha Game or when My wifw is watching the news i van play close to her love ittttttttt

      • Kyron

But the Wii Remote has incredible range if you think about it. If that’s the standard of range for a wireless controller, I can only see it getting better. (kinda like wireless routers)

I think I’ll be the judge of that when I get my hands on that sexy device!

      • godiazul

having the Wii u in your bedroom solves that

      • Exynos

It is a good thing that my Wii U would be in my room!

  • Albinopig

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Sorry I just spitzed out for a second.

  • U Momma

” Finally, the video shows the player switching from the TV to playing only on the controller, a feature that all Wii U games will support.” Wait… what?? I thought only some games were going to be able to be switched to the controller. Am I mistaken?

    • Kyron

Most likely it’ll be a basic feature in all games.

    • Christopher

I didn’t hear her say that. I thought she said that the Wii U has the function to do off screen play, which means only on some games, not all

      • Alienfish

It was in the reading, but isn’t actually true. ZombiU is an example of a game that must be played with both the TV screen and the gamepad.

        • Someone

This is not totally true, you can play zumbiU in classic controller pro,
so you can play without the use of a 2º screen, so you can play only
in the gamepad. I see that you can play zumbiU with the classic
controller pro in a brasilian video, in watch?v=_YZVblsmi8w& around
          1:40.

          ps: I am Brasilian.

” Finally, the video shows the player switching from the TV to playing only on the controller, a feature that all Wii U games will support.” Wait… what?? I thought only some games were going to be able to be switched to the controller. Am I mistaken as well?

      • ODB

The quote U Momma mentioned was from the article. I understand it was like 2 paragraphs and an entire minute of reading, I see how you may have missed it. ;P

I also recall reading that not ALL games will be playable “off screen”. In fact I vaguely recall an article on this very site that was complaining that this was going to be an issue with some first party games. Or am I crazy?

  • Shadriczo

I think i just jizzed due to this epicness.

  • Gamer

As we see more of the Wii U’s features and how games play. More people are wanting the Wii U even more. I am preordering this baby in both black and white.

  • John

    Awesome.

  • gPadWatcher

Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U is truly one of the best I’ve ever seen!!!

    • gPadWatcher

Whoever gave me a thumbs down must be a Sony fanboy.

  • venomjamaica

Definitely day one purchase for me. I really love how this game is coming along. I have a ps3 and didn’t buy the ps3 version when i found out it will be coming to the wii u. I am sooo excited and i so can’t wait.

    Get N or get OUT!!!!

  • Alienfish

This looks really good, especially since they’re doing the backstory too. I won’t be paying full price for it though.

  • jameslobo

this is why the Wii U is gonna own

  • Bill

@WII U Daily Staff. – Do a article on the new video displaying Fifa 13 on WII U, found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6yopCIoVXQ :)

  • ajfel

I would like to see Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 in HD on Wii U with new controller, this is my dream…

  • brandon

Be better if 6 came first

  • brandon

Probably rent it because I already have the CE for ps3 with all the multi player stuff unlocked

    • Nintendonoob

The good thing is Nintendo will still allow used games for the Wii U. I heard Microsofty will make used games unplayable on the next gen Xbox

  • Nintendonoob

you can tell how excited I am because I am doing this message on a Wii. One game I wanna hear bout is Mario Kart U. Screw Sony and Microsoft all they do is make a better graphic system that costs a crap ton of money then they will come up with an add on to make their console have a screen on their contoller to copy the big N. Nintendo is the only REAL gaming company and will always be like that until the end of time!

  • Prime

Im throwing my money at the screen but nothing’s happening.

Im sorry, but this just blew my mind. How EA can be sceptical about the Wii U i dont know.

Long live Nintendo for as long they inovate i’ll appreciate =)

  • kingtendo

so can play game’s and watch movie’s at the same time, wow.my life just got a whole lot lazyier……….

  • Kyron

Quick question: Does anybody know whether the Gamepad will be able to stream graphics from the console to the controller, in HD?

…cause there’s a quote from an article on another site that said this when talking about the possible price for the Wii U:

“Of course, the steeper price tag makes sense given the additional costs associated with the touchscreen-equipped GamePad — itself a standalone device capable of HD graphics.”

  • Bosmur

Wii u daily staff – please do an article on the wii u major as mask video I really want to know if it is real or not, here’s the link.

  • Bravyoura

WARNING play through the first two on 360 first or the game is impossible to get into.

I own a ps3 and EA tried the same interactive comic gimic when ME2 was released (ME1 wasn’t released) even after reading the comic the game made no sense I ended up returning it within a week pretending it was a birthday present.

  • SanPharaoh

I’m so excited for this game. I can’t wait to play it.

  • geo

I LUV BACON AND WII U

  • links1up

  • Zhenya

wow… you can actually turn off the HD, something you can’t do on PS3 XBox360

  • Rajesh
