New Nintendo Land details and mini games revealed

New mini games include Metroid, "Baloon Fight", plus tons of more information from the latest issue of Game Informer.

The latest issue of Game Informer has some new details on two of Nintendo’s Wii U launch titles: Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U. We’ll start with Nintendo Land: two brand new attractions have been revealed. One is “Metroid Blast”, and looks like it’s based on the “Battle Mii” mini-game prototype that was showcased at E3 back in 2011. The other minigame is called “Balloon Fight”, where players float through levels in a side-scrolling game and try to avoid traps, spikes, birds, etc. The object is to make it as far as you can in the level, while drawing wind gusts with your GamePad controller.

Other Nintendo Land details confirm that players will ride a small train from attraction to attraction. Players will earn coins by playing minigames, and will able to purchase items with them. Players will also be able to play “Pachinko” games (a popular slot machine game in Japan). Winning Pachinko games will add Nintendo memorabilia throughout the Nintendo Land park, memorabilia such as new Miis, Zelda consumes, etc. Despite all the new information, there’s still no word on whether Nintendo Land will be bundled with the Wii U or sold separately.

huh, looks like it’s just me here right now…. nice to see some updates on Nintendoland’s content though; it’s been awhile

  • Laud

I think news is gonna start slowing down from here on out until the 13th, and then there’s gonna be an explosion of news articles…

Well, that’s me being captain obvious but I don’t really care much about Nintendo Land, unless it comes with the console, then I’ll give it a shot.

  • ThatBoingGuy

This has to be bundled in. It’s the only way parents will see the difference between the new hardware from the old. And no gamer will spend $50 dollars to buy a mini game collection.

    • The White Falcon

Unless it comes with a Wii Remote/Wii U Pro Controller. That’s essentially the only reason that Wii Play was so successful.

    • Sikora

Maybe a serious Zelda, Metroid fan like me… But I really think its being bundled together.

    • JumpMan

      i will :D

    • MujuraNoKamen

Very true, I hope it’s bundled in like what they did with Wii sports.

Also, what games does everyone think will be announced at their conference? – I’m assuming it wont be entirely be talking about Wii U’s price and details. I’m just waiting to hear what Retro’s new game is (the one that was pulled last minute from E3) C’mon Metroid or Starfox!!!!

    • drscoobie

in england the pre-order price is £50

  • TheUNation

Wow… the Metroid Blast attraction looks completely off the chain! Nintendo truly bring all the franchise games into one FUN fairground! Nintendo Land is a perfect place. One of the many games to purchase the Wii U!

  • Mystery miguel

this and luigi mansion look like coolest game in nintendo land

    • NavyBlueYoshi

It hink they delayed the 3DS version of luigis mansion just to port it to the wii u…

  • Matthewmc685

It looks so SHINY and AWESOME!!

  • bb

    Awesome sounds like fun

  • Ricardo

How does Nintendo expect us to play some of these mini games if they require Wii Motion Plus? I only have one Wii Motion Plus, so I won’t really be able to play some of these mini games!

Nintendo, you better know what you’re doing. Especially with the bundles.

  • nintedward

you can ride a train to and from each attraction. sold .

    • AKA-Link77

It was kinda obvious there was going to be a Metroid MiniGame but whatever… Nin land will be a cool game. :)

    • Mr. Will

      …Sheldon, is that you?

    • Thisguywiththesheep

      Shut. the. front. door.

    • Gregory

      Seriously ?

      • nintedward

        seriously . there is a train ;)

        • Sikora

          I like trains.

          • Kirbymon123

hey have you heard of the I like trains kid? He’s pretty cool but there might be something wrong with him.

    • papa pachter

      Stfu fat feck

  • NavyBlueYoshi

IMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR… When the wii u releases of course.

  • Man

I just see Nintendo Land a fun way for Nintendo to Troll us with games that are coming to the Wii U later than launch……I like it :)

    • LolWatTurtles

I could actually see that. It’s like

Nintendo: “We are proud to announce a new Zelda-

      Fans: “WII U ZELDA!”

Nintendo: ” minigame for NintendoLand on the WiiU!”

It’s a good idea though. Since everyone knows a new Zelda and Metroid and other games are coming to the Wii U Anyway.

  • Marth

The graphic look amazing, can’t wait to have fun with this game. Even though the game revolves around mini games it seems pretty deep with the unlockables and the features mentioned!

  • Rasta

WAIT So we can dress up our mii’s on the game i hope that carries over to Miiverse!!

    • Random

Sorry to disappoint you but I read the latest game informer and it actually seems to state that miis walking around the park will wear costumes not your own personal mii

  • kingtendo

forget train’s,i want to ride multiple color’s of YOSHi

  • Mida

Clear HD metroid graphics. Aww yeah

  • theorangefish

It is not based on battle mii it is “exactly the same but with a better name”

  • Fresnokila

Nintendo Land looks fun but if its not bundled it will not be one of my first purchases….in the end its a mini-game collection which I have like 5 for my Wii already

  • smashninja22

I’ve seen a glimpse at the over-world/amusement park in the demo of the F-zero mini game ( http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/06/06/nintendo-land-f-zero-racing-e3-2012 ) and i have to say from just the lighting and the colors together with a catchy tune it could be even more fun to roam around in than Mario’s Starship in Super Mario Galaxy 2

  • AO1JMM

I remember baloon fight from the early NES days. Very fun game back then.

    • JumpMan

i got it on my 3DS and it’s pretty fun, but obviously the Nintendo Land version will be A HUNDRED BAZZILLION TIMES BETTAH!!!!

  • Yamiryuu Zero

This game MUST come with the Wii U! It’s perfect to be bundled together with the console. But that’s just my wallet’s opinion XD

  • Josh

I knew Battle Mii would be the Metroid mini game. And I’m glad it is because it looks awesome.

  • cyphid

Dang, I told myself I wouldn’t get excited for Wii U… gotta love self-hype!

Nintendo Land is looking like a good package of mini games! I love the fact that you can play up to 5 players!

  • NoPUNintendo

I’m really looking forward to this.

  • Rp17

I knew that “battle mii” would be the metroid game. But does that mean that “chase mii” is probably Mario game.

    • JumpMan

i thought “Chase Mii” changed into “Animal Crossing: Sweet Day”…?

  • Vigo the Carpathian

Maybe it’s a wii play style wiimote bundle…..

  • shadriczo

Is that, the “Metroid Other M” power suit?

  • ssb4

this looks really cool cant wait till real metroid comes out, that will look BEAUTIFUL in HD. and this is already really pretty.

  • shadriczo

    It’s MP2:E Multi-Player all over again!!

  • Metroidvania

Metroid being my favorite Nintendo franchise. I cant wait to play this one. Itll be great to see my Mii in a powersuit!

For the person who asked if this was the “Other M” powersuit. Id have to say no. The shoulders are too large. Looks more like its based on the Prime model.

  • Nintendude

I knew it! GameXplain predicted this!

  • Kev

NintendoLand will be bundled with the Wii U. Just look at the game, it’s a simple yet fun how-to intro to the system and Miiverse.

    • JumpMan

might even be build in… but maybe not ’cause they have it where you can pre-order it… but it could be that way just to keep that fact on the down low…

  • SteampunkJedi

The Metroid Blast minigame looks amazing! And sounds fun! I sure hope this game is bundled with the Wii U. I’d like to get it even if it isn’t, but I’d rather get other full titles if it came to it.
“Zelda consumes”- What is Zelda consuming? ;)

  • JumpMan

HOLY CRAPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! i, literally, theoretically, metaphorically, possibly, maybe, am going to die of excitement. that is all.

  • Nintentionally

Most who have played this say it;s amazingly fun but I just can;t see it yet.

I hope F Zero on this is at least a decent racer

  • rafael

What worries me about this game is that i dont think it is as appealing as wii sports was to people who didnt play games.

I think sports games atract more people, are easier to understand and look less childish and silly…this game, good as it might be, dont seem to have the same potential unfortunately.

Anyway, the association with a theme park might help…

  • Kirbymon123

anyone else see Guest_E at the metroid ship? Does this mean there will be online capabilities? or is that just so you can identify who is who? Also, why you no have Kirby minigame!? <(^-^^-^)>

    • Kirbymon123

That kirby at then end did not come out the way I wanted it too…

  • maxlazy10

Can’t wait to try it out.

  • MujuraNoKamen

Cant wait to see the remaining mini-games. A super Mario Bros/ Galaxy one would be cool come to think of it. I wonder what other games will have minigames featured in Nintendoland, Kirby maybe? Kid Icarus? even then how will the mini games be played out? The ones so far are played differently to the original franchises so it’s hard to imagine. HURRY UP SEPTEMEBR 13th!!
