The Wii U will use a proprietary disc format that offers up to 25 GB of storage on a single disc. It was previously rumored that it was based on Blu-ray, but now it appears that the disc format is a brand new creation by Nintendo. Tech outfit Engadget noticed something interesting about the discs: they have rounded edges. This is the first time a commercial disc ships with rounded edges.
