The history of Nintendo in one awesome video

A fan's homage to Nintendo, from the Game & Watch to the Wii U.

You can’t call yourself a Nintendo fan until you’ve seen this video of Nintendo’s history. The clip is short, sweet, and upbeat, but crafted so well you’ll be left wondering why retrogameaddict1 (Anthony Veloso) hasn’t uploaded more of the same!

Yes, we are aware that some pieces of hardware, like the Virtual Boy, aren’t featured in this clip, but such criticisms are entirely negligible given the time and effort that went into making this.

So lend a fan some praise… he’s certainly earned it. And tell us, what’s your favourite Nintendo console?

    virtual boy?

  • Mickey Mouse

My fav console is a tie between the NES and the SNES. Maybe the Wii U will be up there too, it depends how I feel in the years to come.

    • sonicfan1373

Mine is currently Wii (though Wii U could soon take the crown), the reason is I can use Wii to officially play NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, and of course Wii games (along with a couple of my favourite non-Nintendo consoles like Sega Genesis).

My favorite was the N64.  I will never forget playing Super Mario 64 for the first time… on my 12th birthday, a day before the console officially launched.  Heaven.

Virtual boy and Gameboy Advance SP?

    • AAAkabob

What is this!? How could he leave out the playing cards!!!

He is obviously ignorant to leave out such a big product=d

      • RoadyMike

And the toys and love hotel :P

      Gameboy pocket also missing

      • Beau H

Glad I’m not the only one who caught that.  That was my first GameBoy It bugged me that he included iterations of other handhelds, but not GameBoy.

        Also…. Virtual Boy?!?

Overall well done video.  This is just internet nitpicking :)

    • Brayden

My SP was the best… awesome backlight, recharagble battery… had the things that we all want in our handheld consoles. And they put the Micro in, are you kidding me? Nintendo should be embarassed that this thing ever existed

wrong, not even right consoles either. but a nice creative way to show the other consoles

NINTENDO SIXTY FOUR!!!  OH MY GOD!!!

  • Alucryd

SNES of course, this console has seen soo many awesome RPGs. Today we got Xenoblade and, well, that’s about it. Even the FF series is gone.

    • DragonSilths

The Tales games are great RPGs.

      • Alucryd

Indeed, loved symphonia but that was some time ago, my favorite remains phantasia though.

And there is also the Last Story. Great game but a little to lineair. Other then that it’s worth mentioning in the Wii rpg’s.

    missed some but great video

  • Wally Balls

Super Famicom is shown as Super Nintendo. Party foul.

    • http://alan.cramer.id.au/ Alan Cramer

How is it a party foul? In European countries and Australia/New Zealand that was the Super Nintendo for us.

  • Justin Gray

    Super Nintendo

  • Mr. Nick

    Get N or get out!

  • TMorg

It’s quite well done but yes, the lack of the Virtual Boy makes me wonder if the creater really knew of Nintendo’s history. Also, if you can do the GB Micro, DSi XL and the 3DS XL, you should also have the NES Top Loader, the SNES Model 2, the GB Pocket, GBA SP which also makes me wonder if the creater really knew the history.

  • Dominic Coradazzi

Proud to say I’ve already seen this but it does leave a few of the lesser systems out (like the virtual boy)

  • Linskarmo

It’s a great, well-done video. It’s not perfect, but to ask for that would be nitpicking.

  • Colin Kells-Murphy

Here’s my favorite Nintendo consoles and handhelds as of now.  Wii U, Wii, GameCube, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, GameBoy SP, 3DS, and last but not least NES.  Favorite non Nintendo consoles Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, PS3, and Atari 2600.

  • Chris C

Nicely done!  Now make a good advertisement for the Wii U…it needs it badly.
