Konami not ruling out Castlevania: Lord of Shadows 2 for Wii U

Producer Dave Cox refuses to rule out the possibility of Lords of Shadow 2 coming to Wii U "eventually".

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2,1

In the past, Konami has made sure to let Wii U gamers know that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 isn’t coming to Wii U as the developers lack resources and time to work on it. Between developing the 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate and the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, there’s not much time left to add a new console.

Despite that being the case, in an interview with Nintendo Life, producer Dave Cox has stated that Konami’s intention is not to snub Nintendo fans and for that reason, he refuses to rule out a Wii U version of the game entirely.

Nintendo Life: Castlevania has a long and proud association with Nintendo systems – you’ve stated that Lords of Shadow 2 is out of the question due to time and resource constraints, but are there any plans whatsoever for the installment on Wii U?

Dave Cox: No plans for those very reasons, but I wouldn’t rule it out completely.

This is by no means a confirmation that the game will be released on Wii U, but it’s interesting to see a producer refuse to say no. After the current generation ports are finished, it’s possible that the game could be polished up for next-gen hardware and will see release on the Wii U, or the studio could move on to their next installment in the series. Either way, it’s nice to know that Konami hasn’t forgotten about Nintendo fans yet.

That’s nice to know.  I always knew Konami recognized “Castlevania” had a following among Nintendo fans.  I don’t see this coming to WiiU, but either way, this is better than a flat out no.

im not really a fan of the series, but thats awesome that it might be coming to Wii U.

Its sad not to publish it. Most Nintendo Fans are those who made the franchise what it is today from the early NES, SNES and Game Boy Games…

ok cant dey make up deir mind…or atleast a castlevania judgment 2

    • Tecpedz94

Why do you write that way. Write in proper English it makes you seem illiterate. This  site has spell check you know…..

oh hell no castlevania judgement was plain garbage and a shame to the series theres no way they would make another one that many castlevania fans hated it will just bomb on reviews either way

people, people. there is a reason this game didnt come out straight on the wii u. the final dev kits were sent out last year and games take years to develope, so its really not surprising. glad to here that its not ruled out though.

    • RyuNoHadouken

it doesnt take years….a game like lords of shadow can be done in 8 or 9 months

  • WiiUltra

I think they should just make a new CastleVania game for Wii U. That would be cooler than porting this game over in my opinion.

    • NkoSekirei

       i would agree

    • Jon Turner

I have to concur.  Ports are nice, but an original CV is just what WiiU needs.  And not another Judgment either.

I have not followed the Castlevania games through the last generation, but I would love to get a game like the ones that hooked me in the first place: an all new Castlevania game with 2d (classic side scrolling) with 3d elements, for Wii U. I can dream.

  • SH*TBLOCK

This would be great to have this classic series back on a Nintendo console in all of its glory. I used to love playing them on SNES

Wii U needs RPGS, not hack and slash games.

      Why not both?

I do find this a little bit weird, about a few weeks ago they said flat out: “Not Gonna Happen”. And now they say they won’t rule it out to be released at a later time. I skipped Castlevania Judgement after I learned it was a Fighter, didn’t seem to do to very well from what I heard, and after watching some vids about it, I can’t say I’m more interested in it either.

The first games on the Nes and Snes where excellent, and the Playstation brought it to an entire new level with Symphony of the Night, and the spawns based on this game (GBA and DS games)

I only saw some footage of Lord of Shadow on PS3, I think LoS is a great game, looked cool and interesting to me (a DmC mixture), but LoS was also received with mixed feelings on PS360. Maybe this game will come to the WiiU at a later time, but I would much more prefer an entire new game as some others allready said.

I’m looking forward to LoS2: MoF for 3DS though, will pick it up next week (probably thursday allready maybe even wednesday, one to two day(s) before the official European release as I have a source which does get games up to 2 to 3 days before launch).

I think LoS is great seen from a perspective of someone who hasn’t played the first LoS, so again a port to WiiU at a later date might be okay, but also I really prefer an entire new game for it.

Despite Konami being one of my favourite publishers (I was a NES, SNES owner), they are absolutely pathetic at supporting Nintendo home consoles. What’s really sad is that they have games like Castlevania and Contra that would be bought by many Nintendo fans who have been around since the late 80`s.

Good news, but bad PR move – I’m now thinking to hold off buying the PS3 version now waiting for someone to either rule out or confirm a wii U version…
