New Assassin’s Creed 4 trailer shows shark attacks and grisly combat

A new trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was released today, giving some more insight into the game. The highlight of the trailer seems to be a yet again revamped combat system that shows some grisly sword play, as well as diving for sunken treasure and avoiding sharks. We also get our first look at some of the jungles in the game, as well as major ports such as Havana.

It’s likely that the vertical climbing in the game will be a combination of Assassin’s Creed 2 & 3, with the tall buildings of Havana serving well for Edward Kenway to get around while in port, while the thick jungles and vines will make jungle exploration interesting. So far we’ve not seen any actual gameplay yet, but this trailer gives us the closest look of what to expect in the coming months.

What do you guys think? Many of you said Assassin’s Creed 3 was too boring, does this new trailer pique your interest at all?

OH SHIT YES!!!! Excited or this. Played all AC games. And call me wierd but I for one really enjoyed AC3 on Wiiu and have put over 60 Hours into it since launch and am still trying to 100% missions and collect a few feathers and some liberation missions.

I would give AC3 a 8.5/10 :) Amazing game with pacing issues and bugs.
I didn’t find it boring , i found it a bit dissorientating. But it’s great to pick up that gamepad in bed and collect a couple of things , kill some guys and then off to bed. It used to be people would read before bed. With wiiu , you can deal out tomahawk death blows in bed :)

wow :D its kinda REALLY nice seeing that wii u box and logo among others looks nice xP

Now, if only they’d incorporate the Nintendo Network logo at the end like they do Xbox Live and PSN.

FINALLY!! SOMEONE ELSE POINTS THIS OUT!

    • dgallo911

Id recommend taking a photo of it just in case Ubisoft pull another Rayman lol

AC 2 is my favourite AC and game to date.
    I fu**ing loved the story.
I was disappointed with 3 and this game looks like it will be just like 3.
    :/

I just wish that Ubisoft would move away from the Desmond family saga and focus on someone else. I mean, in all the world, there has to have been another group of Assassins fighting templars. Somewhere. I think using ancient China or Japan as a background would have worked well. An all new protagonist family and all new gameplay opportunities. Like stalking above with your toes balancing on the highest point of a stalk of bambo or using katanas and super cool armour.

I know they have been going chronologically through time with these games, but I saw a fan art picture not too long ago showing what Assassin’s Creed could have looked like in the Japanese Shogun era. A Chinese theme would have been cool too. It’s a shame that Ubisoft missed out on some great parts of history.

kinda looks like it would be like AC3 … we’ll see

    • Easter_egg27

      I have that feeling too!

  • Teves153

Bang goes my hopes of ac4 being a 16 sigh I guess I gotta pass

  • gobrowniesgo

l’ve been waiting for a good pirate game! This looks promising.

I’m glad that they have went further into the new things in AC3 because the reason why I was disappointed with AC3 was that the new factors were underdeveloped and not used often and in most cases not even necessary such as climbing in the trees to get bird feathers or sailing the seas just to decrease the risk of your trade ships being attacked.

    • Barters

I have too. But was thinking it didn’t have to be an AC title. Surely there is room for a nice open world pirating game as its own IP.

  • great deku tree

well although I was disappointed with 3 this looks like it has done a lot more development to the new factors in 3 which is promising. with these new terrains to explore that offer real dungeons instead of just collecting feathers and the fact that it’s been said to focus a lot more on assassinations, this could be an amazing assassins creed game. although I hope that they will somehow make the fighting more difficult and it doesn’t tell you when the enemies are going to attack. what bugs me is that you don’t even need to be a good assassin to do well in the game, even when I was spotted in 3 it didn’t matter because I could easily kill 40 soldiers.

  • Zelly Jeffers

His lips. I keep objectifying his lips, and that’s okaaaaay. :)

  • Guest

    Wow more assassins creed …

more climbing … aww man. I was hoping for no more climbing, or at least a different climbing mechanic. Looks the same.

Saying “no climbing.” when talking about Assassin’s Creed, is like saying “No jumping.” on Mario. It’s one of the things that makes Assassin’s Creed what it is.

It’s sad, really. Ubisoft is the only one giving Nintendo the bone with Wii U versions of ACIV and Watch_Dogs. They’re the only company showing support for the Wii U ever since it bombed.

  • C.S. Bailey

Considering AC3 on the Wii U is my first personal experience with owning an AC game, I’m looking forward as to how this one turns out.

  • Joel

It’s sad, really. Ubisoft is the only third-party developer showing any respect for the Wii U.

    • Julio

Ikr? I just wish other third party publishers would support the Wii U though.. At least Ubisoft are the only supporters and bringing AC4 and Watch Dogs on Wii U. And soon maybe Blacklist and Rainbw Six Patriots :)

    Cannot wait!!

  • LUNDTOPA

Don’t know if I’m just retarded, but I didn’t see any gameplay in that trailer. Just cinematics.

    • RyuNoHadouken

the shark…swiiming to the underwater treasure chest, sailing the ship…jumping off the ship…it was mostly gameplay…

      • LUNDTOPA

None of it was in game…..

        • RyuNoHadouken

guess youve never played games on a high end PC then

  • Nintenjoe82

    Grisly new combat:

    Press Y to attack
    Press A to counter

  • RyuNoHadouken

    seems legit

  • Zelda fan#1

Oh god…ship battles. I hated the ship battles in AC3…manly because I sucked at them, I mean yes I gotta admit that they were fun but…I sucked at it xD

  • Graham Gillman

    That. Was. Bad. Ass!
