New For Speed Most Wanted U trailer

New trailer showcases many of the Wii U features, including off-screen gameplay, multiplayer, and more.

EA has released the first Need For Speed Most Wanted U trailer, showcasing many of the Wii U features in the game. The trailer reveals features such as off-screen gameplay on the GamePad, local multiplayer, Wii U GamePad functionality, and more. The graphics look pretty good, too. The trailer itself is a bit cheezy, but it gets the point across. Need For Speed Most Wanted U will be available on the Wii U on March 22nd.

Almost makes me wish I waited to get this on the Wii U. I have the game on my 360 already but the Gamepad and new controls/features look interesting

    • NkoSekirei

trust me it is and the developer of it alrdy confirmed that the wii u version of need for speed most wanted is a better verson to get and they are pushing the graphics to the limit as well

      • http://www.facebook.com/derek.ochs.54 Derek Ochs

not near the limit theres probably still locked away power

        • Nintedward

Yeah , as if you can push the Wiiu to its limit with a 360 port , no offence to 360.

but to ”push the console to it’s limit” you have to spend years making a game from the ground up – Candidates for this are – Zelda , Mario , Smash bros , Bayonetta 2 , X Mario Kart Wiiu , Pikmin 3 , Wonderfull 101.

Wonderfull 101 looks amazing for a game with 60FPS!

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

And if anyone will push the Wii U to it’s limit it will be Nintendo possibly paired with a good developer.

          • http://twitter.com/Ahiam94 Daniel Hatton

            agreed.

          • Zombie_Andrew

This port is a PC port using DX11 equivalent visual effects :/

          • Nintedward

Yeah , but that still doesn’t mean it’s pushing the Wiiu to its limit. the core port of this game is the 360 game right. then they have managed to put the PC assets into the game. That is impressive , but the core of the game was developed with the 360 in mind not the Wiiu.

If someone built a racing game from the ground up for the wiiu and squeezed every ounce of power out of the system , it would no doubt look even better (maybe much better) than the awesome looking NFSMW U.

          • Zombie_Andrew

I agree, the DX11 equivalent visuals took 10 minutes. I’m sure that the Wii U is capable of even more!

          • AMajesticUnicorn

The Wii U version of Most Wanted uses PC textures with ps3/360 geometry.

  • Jim Coles

awesome … can’t wait to play this with my son. :-D

    • NkoSekirei

this game is gonna be epic along with lego city undercover and monster hunter ultimate next weel im gonna be so busy playing all 3 of them

      • Jim Coles

not a fan of monster Hunter but lego city has been pre ordered too.

    • Guest

      • Nathaniel Lopez

I see what you were going for but it’s sort of irrelevant in this context.

  • bigha6900

am going to get that’s day 1

  • uPadWatcher

A definite MUST PURCHASE and a epic addition to the Wii U library. I’m buying it next week!

    • Nintedward

Thumbs up if you have pre ordered this baby!

    • Andres Trujillo

Oh yeah, with the Target buy 2 get one free deal I can get MH3U, Lego City Undercover, and this awesome game

  • Captain Falcon

Looks like a great game, but oh God… that commercial is cringe-worthy…

    • thedeciderU

yes it is. read on above and let me know what you think.

    • bizzy gie

I guess I can’t disagree with you. You were #1.

    • WiiUltra

I’m sorry, I’m not seeing the big deal. I liked the commercial.

  • Cadrion

Man guys… I’m soooo hyped now that i’ve seen this. I absolutley loved Burnout Revenge on the 360 (made by the same studio) and now this with some new takes from the same guys?! Yeah, I’ll be picking it up on the 22nd. Side note, pretty cool demoing of the system in the commercial, too…

  • audi lover

Wasnt going to buy, I have never bought a need for speed game, but I am now looks like a laugh, need a racing game till mario kart, does anyone know if sonic allstars is any good to

    • GermGerm

It’s no Mario Kart but it is pretty fun.

      • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Nothing can top Mario Kart.. Many have tried… all have failed.

        • sithWiiU

Actually, many have said Transformed gives Mario Kart a race for its money. Take the fan boy glasses off.

    • incoherent1

You can download a demo of Sonic from the Wii U eShop. I thought it was fun, but not enough to entice me to pull the trigger (although I’m also not a huge race game fan).

    • Levi Johansen

Sonic allstars isn’t much to play alone, that’s for sure. Mario Kart is playable alone.

Need 4 Speed was made to be played alone, so I’m getting that because I rarely get to play with anyone.

I have Sonic allstars, and I rarely play it.

      • Alex Damman

i feel your pain, i have a lot of trouble finding people to local multiplayer with, since most of my friends at my high school aren’t really that into videogames. this is why it’s so frustrating to me that nintendo hasn’t really put online multiplayer in any of it’s wii u titles yet.

        • Levi Johansen

The online capabilities of the Wii U are great, but utilized by few games, and not to well either.

I think multiplayer is best with friends, locally. And Wii U offers the best of that – because of the gamepad, making it possible to have a “special” player and of course no splitscreen.

    • http://twitter.com/Ahiam94 Daniel Hatton

Sonic was alright. I think I’d rather have Need For Speed than Sonic racing, though.

      • Laud (Check upvotes 2039+)

Do you have big balls? I like to suck BALLZ!!! Cause I’m a gay fucker!

        • bizzy gie

This loser isn’t the real Laud. Only has 17 comments and like NO upvotes. Loser.

        • NkoSekirei

go suck on ur own balls u douche

  • jcnba28

I’ll pick this up because I want something to play on my Wii U instead of Wii games.

  • Jimmy D. Fugate

I thought it was coming out on Mar. 19th in North America?

    • uPadWatcher

It is, Jimmy. Most Wanted U will be released on March 19th in North America and the 22nd in Europe.

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

Ok thanks….this site flip flops between NA date and EU dates a lot.

  • Steven Scott

The game pad controller in the commercial needs to be charged

    • uPadWatcher

At least you can use the AC adapter. Problem solved.

  • Johny

Dear developers who make wii u commercials…

please refrain yourself from ONLY featuring kids and families in your ads… it makes the whole scene look….. funny and well…. kinda repulsive at times

    sincerely…. wii u gamers

    • Cadrion

Yes, appeal ONLY to hard core gamers and chase them off to…um….other consoles. ;)

    • Alex Damman

although i don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing families in the trailers, i can definitely see what you are saying, especially since this seems more like a game that would appeal to teenagers and young adults, rather than kids. also, that kid’s smile is kind of creepy 0_0 *shivers*

      • Johny

yea… like the writer of this article wrote… its a very cheesy ad >.> … and really looks like a game made exclusively for minors to enjoy with families… which is NOT the only targeting audience of the wii u gamers… i understand such ads with…lets say nintendo land…. or even new super mario bros U… but games like that ? … imagine a Cod game ad made in the SAME manner :D just DO .. imagine it xD

        • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

Um, I thought it was mostly 12 year olds playing CoD anyway…

    • http://people.ign.com/returnofthetruth2 ReturnoftheTruth2

Remember – Nintendo makes games for EVERYONE!

      • MetroidZero

        So does Microsoft and Sony….

        • THEMIGHTYDOOVDE

Sure they do but not as good as Nintendo.

          • sithWiiU

            well, not good.
If you’re going to insult companies, at least use proper english. You look like a moron otherwise.

          • THEMIGHTYDOOVDE

            Zzzzz……

          • Flamingoathere

If you’re going to correct people, at least know that “not as good” is perfectly acceptable to say. Well is an adverb, and would be used to describe the action of making games, while good is an adjective, and is used to describe how good the games are.

It’s like saying “They are better at making games.” or “They make better games.” There isn’t a big difference, and both make sense.

    • thedeciderU

hahah I just posted above without reading any of these. Who is designing these ads? Children and stay-at-home dads?

  • Levi Johansen

Shut up and TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • Alex Damman

what exactly is the deal with this game? i thought it was just a racing game, and i wasn’t planning to get it because i don’t really like racing games other than mariokart, but from this trailer it looks like more than racing. what is it about?

    • sithWiiU

It’s racing, but it’s also out running cops. if you ever played the old Most Wanted games it’s like that, but without the story (there isn’t one in this one). You also do not get a crap car and upgrade it.
Instead, you get the stock car of a racing brand, and then upgrade it.
The races are decent, but the real fun in this game are the police chases. They took out the helicopters from the previous game, but it’s still really really fun. As your heat level rises, the cops start sending in cop race cars (Chargers) and then the Rhino units (omg, they REALLY try to ram your rear end), and they try boxing you and what not. It’s simple, but it’s a lot of fun. I can not tell you how many times I get all into it, trying to out run the popo.
This is nothing like Mario Kart though, but also nothing like Forza or Gran Turismo.

  • Nintendofreak

    great game commercial shitty actors

  • dylanbob121

THIS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED!!!!Well EA,another copy-paste game I can see…

    • dylanbob121

ooops…I forgot….this is need for speed…I thought this was the fast and the furius one…my bad.

      • http://twitter.com/Ahiam94 Daniel Hatton

        Lol.

        • Laud (Check upvotes 2039+)

Are you a bottom or a top? I like to give ;) Cum on over sometime…. ;) ;)

  • Guhtere

This might be the last EA game on the Wii U. I’m starting to have the feeling that EA hates Nintendo.

    • thedeciderU

True. EA has a right to hate this bullshit ad.

      • NkoSekirei

no EA knows everyone hates origin and nintendo did the right thing to say no to origin

  • Gurbeer Gill

I thought it was an effective commercial. But it does reinforce Nintendo’s kiddie or ‘family’ image, which I think maybe isn’t quite what they should be aiming for.

    • http://people.ign.com/returnofthetruth2 ReturnoftheTruth2

      Are you a troll?

      • Gurbeer Gill

huh? Nothing I said was ‘trollish.’

        • http://people.ign.com/returnofthetruth2 ReturnoftheTruth2

Well you said that the ad REINFORCES Nintendp’s kiddy image. To many, that is considered trolling, not facts.

  • TheBoldman67

Uhhh, shouldn’t it be called New NEED for Speed Most Wanted U trailer, not NEW for Speed?

  • Jizz Beard thePirate

Looks great but can u not play two players on it? Like one person driving the car with the gamepad and the other driving the car with the wiimote? Seems like a missed opportunity… :/

  • http://people.ign.com/returnofthetruth2 ReturnoftheTruth2

If I did not know about the Wii U, looking at this ad would make me think that it is for the Wii. Also, it is not cool when only one player can use a control with options and the other has to use one from an older system.

    • Eli Braden

its possible that its compatible with the pro controller

      • Jim Coles

yes I heard that it was.

    • Jimmy D. Fugate

If you can’t tell this ad is for the Wii U by the gamepad controller, the HD graphics or the “U” in the title of the game, then you sir an idiot.

    • dubYA

The game supports all available Wii and Wii U controller options except the balance board of course.

Also, I’m pretty sure the local multiplayer isn’t competitive, but cooperative instead. Both players can control the vehicle with the GamePad player having the ability to change the environment in several ways.

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

I think the local multiplayer is competitive too.

        • dubYA

I wish it did, but it doesn’t. I just looked it up and there’s no competitive offline multiplayer component. If you want local multiplayer, Co-driver Mode is your only option. Too bad…

Still everything else about the game looks great, and I’m sure playing online will be awesome!

          • Jimmy D. Fugate

I’m sorry but who doesn’t put local multiplayer in a racing game, even if it’s 2013. So basically you can’t play the game with anyone who doesn’t own a Wii U. Does it have a single player campaign?

          • dubYA

Yeah, it has a campaign mode. Criterion is a great developer, and always puts forth a polished product. It’s just a shame they work for EA. I’m sure the decision to exclude local multiplayer is EA’s doing. It forces people to buy the game individually. One needs to look no further than the recent Sim City always on DRM debacle to see how money hungry EA really is.

          • Jimmy D. Fugate

FUCK EA…the only good thing they ever did for me was Nightfire and Everything or Nothing.

  • Eli Braden

Kids WILL play this game, but why not stick a hardcore gamer in there?

    • Cerus98

And what exactly would you like to see? An unkempt 25 year old sitting in the dark in their parents basement with a few dozen empty cans of Monster strewn about?

      • sithWiiU

Or how about two young adults simply playing video games? Dang, you guys seriosuly have no imagination. it’s either kids, or dudes in a basement. Grow up.

        • Cerus98

So you think a “hardcore gamer” is a automatically an adult? Proves my point. The most agreed upon definition is a person who plays video games for a frequent and extended amount of time. Sounds like kids to me since that’s about all kids do. Hardcore has nothing to do with the game – only the player.

But you like most people are offended when some 12 year old kicks your butt in COD. So they aren’t “hardcore” hence why I said you’d be more satisfied if they showed some HS drop out stoned and playing games for hours on end in their parents basement.

  • Madmagican

not a bad trailer but I really think we can get people other than kids to play the console eh?
anyway here’s the song in case you were wondering

  • http://twitter.com/Ahiam94 Daniel Hatton

If a game can still look good with a commercial that cheesy it has to be worth buying.

  • Laud (Check upvotes 2039+)

    I likes’a da cock!

    • Nathaniel Lopez

Well, I see you got a need for something…

  • Quicksilver88

So many haters……I think this is a nice commercial with the whole dad/son angle. Maybe they should make a version with two 25 year olds playing in their parents basement for all you ‘hardcore gamers’. I am so tired of that term. I am as old school as anyone….been playing games since the beginning of games and played them all…I like great, fun, and entertaining games and dont care if its mario or mad world! So to all you ‘hardcore gamers’ out there grow up, get a job, buy your own games, amd get out of your parents basements and off Obamas free cheese wagon….you are tools!

    • Jim Coles

well said. I like the ad it’s exactly the reason i bought a wii u and not a Xbox or ps4 so I can play games with my children i expect most of the negative comments are from children anyway.

      • thedeciderU

But keep in mind many of us aren’t family men/women. I am 30, have my own place, and do not want children. I am not a “hardcore gamer” because I’m not a douche who hates competitors based on hardware specs, nor am I a family hater. This ad is so cheesy. In fact, all the Wii U ads I’ve seen in the North America have been lame.

        • Jim Coles

well I guess it is something only a father and son can relate to.

    • sithWiiU

      Your comment screams fallacy.

1st off, I am not a child, and I buy all my own games. I do live with my mother still, why? Because the governemnt effed up and got into a 10 year war and spent, then cut school budgets to help support that stupid war. Does that mean I live off welfare or any form of governemnt help? Hell no. I have a job, will be getting a second job, and am about to graduate from university.

With that said, I am going to assume you’re 24/25, since you have 88 in your name. I am younger than you, but older than 18.
I also have no plans or desire to marry and start a family in the near future. I want to start my career and move out of my s**t neighborhood before I start my family.

Do not generalize everyone together please, because in the end, it makes the haters and you one and the same, but on different sides of a coin.

      To recap:
-I have two jobs (one pays 8 dollars, the other 17 dollars)
      -I am graduating from college
-I live with mother, not by choice, but because econmy sucks, and school is hella expenisve (almost like a limb and a leg).
-No desire for family within next 5 years, but do want a family.

      • Quicksilver88

Easy sithWiiU…..sorry if comments seemd ‘aimed’ at you as I may have initially responded to your thread…..I am considerably ‘older’ than you in that the 88 in my handle refers to the age I graduated HS. I actually did not finish, college, had lots of technical talent so built a career in systems engineering and then consulting and then started a business and made big money and sort of retired at 39. You can’t really blame the government and the 10 year war as. Spending is at all time highs, school loan interest rates have been kept at all time lows and the war had nothing to do with the economic crash. It was all related to banks and lending practices relating to giving people motgages they should have never gotten. That was what the housing buble was about and thats what tanked the economy. The lending practices started with Carter, and then where greatly expanded under both Clinton and Bush2 because they both wanted everyone suitable or not to be able to own homes. Predatory lending practices were a factor, but the government set up the conditions for it to happen. During the entire ‘wars’ we were still spending about 2.7 trillion a year and now even with those wars stopped we are spending more like 3.7 trillion a year. Most of this large increase was due to means tested benefits. So welfare, SSI disability, food stamps, medicaid, free cell phones, and 2 years unemployment are means tested benefits. I say keep going and no harm living at home if you are working, going to school and buying your own games. My comments were aimed at a specific type of slacker and trust me they do exist….you clearly do not fall into this category so don’t take thinks personally….Oh yeah and I can tell from you comments you are likely on the liberal bandwagon, get off it because BOTH parties are screwing us and while the Dems pretend they give a crap…..guess what they don’t. Our only hope is a true 3rd party emerges to break the stalemate in washington, otherwise be prepared for stagnation, poor housing market, and eventually hyper inflation. Everything we are trying that is not working has been tried before and failed miserably in Europe. I actually feel bad for those of your generation and even worse for the generation after you because the way things are going they will never know the type of oppertunity and success that those in my generation and before have known…..I hope I am wrong!

  • MadCrain

This trailer is so CHEESY Baahahahahahahhahaaha, Good job EA, this is commercial gold xD

  • ICHI

Well I will be playing this game with my little lad, We used to play burnout paradise together when he was about 5 years old, and though you could argue that videogames make kids violent all burnout manged to do to him was turn him into an Avril Lavigne fan. To this day I haven’t decided if that’s worse or not?

Terrible advert though, and still no real affirmation that the Wii U is a new console and not just a new controller :)

  • Petri

Will think about buying racing games, if they add racing wheel support.

  • kevin

that trailer made me want to buy it. Going to get a hard copy though.

  • thedeciderU

Nintendo of America – PLEASE stop making ads with only families (with fairly small children)! Show off the hardware, verbally list features of the Wii U and gamepad advantages to the game and show a larger gamer demographic. No wonder all these Sony/MS fanboys are hating so hard – they almost have a reason…

Having a fun game is important, but this commercial annoys me as it leads to further dismissal of a system that needs sales, more games, and the respect it deserves (excited for E3 announcements). Had I seen this ad before purchasing (day one), I may have thought twice about the system. Not that they need to take a super serious approach, but, uugggggghhh, do something else with the marketing.

On the upside, the game looks pretty fun. Do other people like this ad? Or Nintendo’s current ads? Wii U rules, but I think they need SEVERAL angles instead of just the one family angle in their advertising. It isn’t working. Plain and simple.

  • Cadrion

Is it March 22nd yet? :) I bet this game is probably going to sell like crazy…

    • sithWiiU

Waht makes you say that? I d not think it’ll sell greatly, it’ll sell well, but not like crazy. I mean, on PS360, NFS sold a good chunk, but that was with two consoles.

  • José Abraham Cervantes Posadas

I hope that uses Motion Plus

  • ICHI

Interestingly enough we have all this jazz about how crysis3 and battlefield 4 are not around because nintendo wont let origin on their network, but having a look at NFS Most Wanted for Wii U on the EA website it says in big letters under the box,”ORIGIN ACCOUNT REQUIRED TO ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES. YOU MUST BE 13+ TO REGISTER. EA ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF SERVICE CAN BE FOUND AT http://WWW.EA.COM. EA MAY RETIRE ONLINE FEATURES, ONLINE SERVICES AND DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON http://WWW.EA.COM/1/SERVICE-UPDATE“……………………..hmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • TheBoldman67

Uhhh… guys, the Wii U version comes out tomorrow (March19) in the U.S, it says the 22nd because this trailer is for EUROPE, that’s why it says Pegi instead of ESRB.

  • uPadWatcher

Have you played that game? NO! Your comment is invalid. Never underestimate the Wii U, Nintendo, or Criterion Games.

  • SirDjss

Eh .. am i missing something here ? This game have the same fps as the other versions with better grafics. Ssoo whats your point here ?.. did u really expect more on a consol.? even ps4 cant do that with these grafics.

  • sithWiiU

Criterion has nothing to do with this. Stop mentioning them jsut because of NFS, wait until the actual game releases, then speak up if their claims are true. Otherwise, you’re going to feel like a tool.
