Two Tribes would love to work on a Star Fox game

Two Tribes head Collin van Ginkel speaks candidly about what he'd like to work on in the future.

star-fox

Two Tribes has been hard at work finishing Toki Tori 2 for eShop certification, which finally happened last week. That hasn’t stopped the team from dreaming up their next project though, as in an interview with NintyChronicle, Collin van Ginkel spoke about what he’d like to see his team work on in the future. The answer? Star Fox.

I think we could make a damn fine Star fox game for Wii U. Yes, a classic Star fox game would be awesome to work on.

It’s not too far fetched to say that we may see the Star Fox franchise re-visted on Wii U at some point in the future, so perhaps van Ginkel will get his wish. Are you looking forward to a new Star Fox game? Let us know in the comments.

I will LOVE a Star Fox game on Wii U!! on HD

      Who would downvote this?

      • The_Last_Metroid

the same guy who downvoted you and probably me

      • Jimmy D. Fugate

Most likely that troll Donaald or knowledgeiswhatsup…that whore

        • Neilandio

They are the same person you know, Donaald changed his name to knowledgeiswhatsup.

          • ps4rules

Actually Neilandio is right. If you click on Donaalds disquis account thing it shows knowledgeiswhatsup.

      HD Krystal…

      *Drools*

      • Genesect4ssb4

        No. Krystal ruined Star Fox.

        • Genesect4ssb4

However, on foot combat was something I enjoyed. Just needed some improvements

        • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

you ruin my hopes and dreams

          • Genesect4ssb4

Krystal ruined star fox. Her invention led to Star Fox’s “hiatus”

          • Nathaniel Lopez

I don’t know about that, I think Nintendo just focused more on other games…I don’t think the creation of one character would stop Nintendo from continuing a game series. They could easily either write a story revolving/including/excluding her or they could just write her off saying she was “K.I.A.?” and then bring her back whenever.

          • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Her invention led to Nintendo approaching sex in video games. I approve

        • Brian Poole

More like Star Fox ruined Dinosaur Planet :P

    • Eli Valentin Villanueva

A question to our beloved troll guy Donald…have you ever played STARFOX 64 or any of the series? Really at least play the game :D

  • Fred

I don’t care who makes it I just want another Star Fox game.

    • Ultranist

even a new Star Fox game from EA?

      • Nathaniel Lopez

“We’re sorry, Origin has encountered an unexpected error purchasing you Arwing upgrade due to a problem with the servers, please try again later.” ~EA, if they developed Star Fox U.

        • dylanbob121

          The end of the world…

          • Nathaniel Lopez

for EA at least; For the rest of us, business as usual.

I dont care if its from sony, just gimme one and make it GOOOOOD.

        • sdmac200600

sony would problably make a good star fox. now microsoft…..they don;t even have exclusives and the ones they do have are overhyped

          • Nathaniel Lopez

Actually, I think Microsoft has the most exclusive and/or initial launch exclusives of any of the consoles out right now…when it comes to IPs however, the only ones that I can think of from the top of my head is Gears.

          • ICHI

They have halo and forza, halo 4 was crap though 343 are no bungie and I’m looking forward to destiny instead, forza started as a poor mans gran turismo but its gotten better and better!

  • Nathaniel Lopez

I hope it’s reminiscent of Star Fox 64, I don’t want a “Adventure” or “GC Star Fox” game, On-Rails all the way, they could make the “on-foot” levels sort of like Sin & Punishment if they have to…just please make it “On-Rails” for the majority, or at the very least a good portion, of the game.

    • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Adventure was amazing. It was like zelda/Starfox. I really liked it. And assault would’ve been fun if the controls had been sharper.

      • Nathaniel Lopez

I’m not saying they weren’t good, but they just didn’t feel like a Star Fox game.

        • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

well that’s because it originally wasn’t. Dinosaur planet was originally its own game, but then Nintendo either liked the idea so much they bought it or saved it from being bankrupt or something. I dont remember the whole story. Buuuuuut yeah.

          • Nathaniel Lopez

You got it right more or less if I remember correctly.

  • Sonic

YESYESYES and more YES to come.

  • RonaldRayguns

Starfox is in my top ten for the N64, It would be awsome if they made another Starfox worthy of being in the Wii U’s top ten.

    • Nathaniel Lopez

Yeah it’s on my top ten as well, I must have beaten SF64 almost 100 times back in the day.

      • RonaldRayguns

It was so good! the way you could take different paths to get to the final boss, havent played it in soo long though. I remember you could go through the waterfall in that one level (I think the first one) if you did something…. got gold coin things? damn gonna have to get Starfox 64 when it comes to the virtual console.

        • Nathaniel Lopez

Yeah, that’s the 1st level (Corneria) and you have to fly through all the underpasses, for lack of a better word, when you get to the sea a little bit before the waterfall.

  • Marcell Wade

I really liked Namco’s take on the series, with StarFox Assault, anybody besides me think so?

    • Marcell Wade

It was Space invaders meets StarFox, or vice versa, loved it.

    • Nathaniel Lopez

I liked the effort and the fact that they included “on-foot” levels but it just didn’t feel like a Star Fox game.

    • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

I loved it! The controls just needed to be sharper

  • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Include Krystal and I will buy 20 of them >.>

    • Nathaniel Lopez

I thought Krystal replaced Peppy after he was retired from the roster.

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

He was in adventures and assault. peppy replaced general pepper.

        • Nathaniel Lopez

I meant retired from the Star Fox team roster.

          • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

            aah. yeah, he was retired

  • mchelski

I did not enjoy GC starfox as much as 64, but, on foot was a good idea, maybe they can take the good part of both games

    • Nathaniel Lopez

      Yes, Agreed.

  • Sneferie

Would rather Hideki Kamiya (who’s expressed interest in the past) do it.

  • djvalbnc

    Randomness: Falcon Puuuunch

    • Nathaniel Lopez

      “The hatches are open!”

  • Fred

Whatever happened to the rumor that Retro is already working on Star Fox

    • Rob Lucci

Thats what it is a rumor.Nobody knows what they are doing.

    • DragonSilths

      Oh its Retros game.

      • DragonSilths

I was saying Starfox is Retro’s game.

    • http://twitter.com/DJDALLYDEE Dallas Scott Cooper

I thought the rumor was that they were workin’ on a new Metroid game.

      • ICHI

There’s rumors for both, Retro recently tweeted they are hard at work on something everyone wants them to be hard at work on. So depending on which rumor you’re more excited for depends on which one you’ll believe. Could be another DK game? But here’s hoping for metroid.

        • Twotribesfox

Remember the rumor of nintendo buying banjo kazooie back. If retro would make a new banjo kazooie. All my wishes are anwsered.

          • ICHI

That would be pretty damn awesome! especially since Rare now only make the totally unresponsive Kinect Sports (WHY OH WHY DID I BUY A KINECT!!!!! oh yeah child of eden, which was good not worth the kinect though) and avatar items for XBL. How the mighty have fallen :(

  • djvalbnc

Star Fox U would be awesome!

  • RyuNoHadouken

Star Fox would be great if, and only if, they take out the corny comedic elements and make it a more serious “save the galaxy” type game…with a narrative worthy of an award winning script, Zelda-esque world gameplay and a stellar soundtrack…GC Star Fox was on the right track, but it could be improved dramatically

    • klzgo

Humor is part of Star Fox. JEEZ LAWEEZ WHAT IS THAT?!

      • RyuNoHadouken

yeah, i know, but they never make good use of it…lol

  • Revolution5268

as long as peppy say “Do a barrel roll!” im fine.

    • dylanbob121

Maybe slippy will be all like”ITS CALLED A FRICKEN ALERON ROLLL!!!

      • Guest

or maybe “Fox! Get this guy off me!

        • ICHI

Anyone else just leave falco to die?

          • Nathaniel Lopez

nah, I like hearing him say “I’ve been saved by Fox, how swell!”

    • WarioForever

Well, I don’t like Command, because story is really stupid and peppy is no longer in team!

      • Revolution5268

the story is so…what do you say…not so good.

  • Anthony K Aurelia

Doubt they’ll get their wish…I would think Nintendo is already working on this.

    • dylanbob121

I dont care if EA guves us one, just make soon!!not that I like EA or anything, though

  • Mr. Nick

I’ve been waiting too long to do a barrel roll. Please bring new Star Fox!

  • Sidney Majurie

I remember getting Starfox 64 for my birthday. That huge colorful box with the “RumblePak Included!” I remember the first time I started it up and heard that epic score with full voice acting and amazing 3D graphics(for the time in 1997). Plugging in that weird rumble contraption into my equally weird controller :D Getting hit by enemy fire and my conttoller vibrating like crazy. One of my favorite gaming memories! Perhaps the UPad can give me an equally cool memory with a unique innovative feature as well. I hope so!

    • ps4rules

Ha. And when your friends said “I doubt that Rumblepak will ever be successfull”. Now every controller vibrates.

      • Sidney Majurie

LOL. I remember the weird reactions to that skaky thing in the controller. But yeah, they all shake and no one really notices anymore :(

  • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Yes Yes…. Do a Barrel Roll in Wii U Style!! Awesome!!

    • dylanbob121

Slippy will be all like “ITS CALLED A FRICKEN ALERON ROLL!!!

      • Nathaniel Lopez

No, Slippy will be like, “AAHHHH! GET THESE GUYS OFF ME!!”

      • CChaplin

You don’t need to make the same joke twice on the same comment page dude, we heard you the first time…

  • Metal_Man_v2

As long as it’s a NEW Starfox game. I’m tired of seeing remakes from Nintendo.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jamal.brown.14 Duke Togo

i hope this does happen i was expectin a star fox game on wii but that never happend

  • dylanbob121

YES!!!!THE LAST DECENT STARFOX GAME WAS STARFOX ASSULT AND THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO!!!!IF THEY DO THIS,THEY WILL BE MY FAVORITE INDI DEVELOPERS!!!

  • Nero

a new star fox? yes, two tribes? no thank you

  • Madmagican

I don’t really know too much about Two Tribes but the fact that they want to make a Star Fox game in the classic style definitely make me cautiously optimistic about this

    • dylanbob121

      its a classic starfox?how can it go wrong?oh yeah*thinks about adventures,the shudderes*

  • DragonSilths

Retro Studio’s mystery Wii U game. Nuff said. Retro is making Starfox.

    • dylanbob121

      better be

    • Marcell Wade

      That’s what I think & hope.

  • Starfoxguy

I think Retro should make it. Just look at what they did with Metroid Prime.

    • dylanbob121

This could be fun if its made by two tribes.I just hope that it is at least close to a starfox game unlike…well…we dont speak of the dark times…

  • Tim van Broekhoven

    Is two tribes Dutch¿ :O

  • http://twitter.com/DJDALLYDEE Dallas Scott Cooper

I only have faint memories of playing Star Fox 64 as a kid. I’d love to get into the series on Wii U.

  • http://www.facebook.com/miketedesco18 Michael Tedesco

Take it off rails and I’ll buy it

  • Eli Valentin Villanueva

What about STAR FOX ARMADA, with a great internet multiplayer for a star fox game. That would be 20% cooler :)

  • Shadriczo

I don’t want to sound like a noob, but like a year ago, Paul Gale Network or PGN for short said there was suppose to be a fusion crossover between Starfox & Metroid for Wii U. Yet it was just a rumor. Or is it..

Here’s the 2 articles about it..

Link1- Confirmed status update on Retro Studios making “Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga”
    http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2012/05/30/confirmed-status-update-on-retro-studios-making-star-fox-metroid-fusion-saga-for-wii-u/

Link2-Nintendo responds to the Retro Studios rumor regarding Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga for Wii U.
    http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2012/05/22/nintendo-responds-to-the-retro-studios-rumor-regarding-star-fox-metroid-fusion-saga-for-wii-u/

    • Nathaniel Lopez

Never heard of it but upvoted because you sourced information to back up your claim.

      • Shadriczo

Those articles came out before E3 2012. So this was just some info if what we might be expecting if this is true.

        • Nathaniel Lopez

Sadly, I know nothing about E3 conventions other than it’s a gaming thing…I never really bothered reading up on it but if it’s from 2012 it shouldn’t be too long before we hear more from it, considering if it’s still even in development.

          • Shadriczo

That’s true, but hey… E3 2013 is in june (3 months from now.) Nintendo did say they might show some first-party games.

          • Silent

Sir, Watch the conventions. They are amazingly. Guys remember when the 3ds was announced? and Legend of zelda skyward sword?

  • http://www.facebook.com/chrisskates Kwis Wose

It just blows my mind that this is a game that isnt even in developement yet, Nintendo seriously never consdered that people might want this?

People can say “fuck EA/2k/ubisoft” for not offering all their games on Wii , or withdrawing commitment. But It’s Nintendo who is too blame for having no clue/not listening to what gamers want. Whatt is the excuse for not having a wii u VC? why was a new 3d mario not ready or at the very least presentable at launch…. or a new Zelda for that matter? Why is it that the only games on the e-shop are months/year old ports? The sports games available aren’t even on par with their ps3/xbox ports.

People have to start realizing that Nintendo took us for a ride,. If you’re happy with you’re Wii U good for you. But don’t think for a second that this System appeals to EVERYONE, it doesn’t. and out of all the systems available to you at this time, The wii U is by far the worst choice. And with the launch of the next gen at the end of this year, it will likely be the worst choice for years to come.

I’m all for a new starfox game… but how likely is it that we’ll see one anytime soon? Not bloody likely.

Would you rather play First party Nintendo games on a Nintendo system? or would you prefer them to be available as third party games for all systems? I have absolutely no faithin Nintendo as a console, but I do have hopes for them as a3rd party developer, I at least wouldnt feel as ripped off as I do now. And I’m sure as hell they’d step up their advertising game.

    • Nathaniel Lopez

The excuse, my good sir, is called delays and it happens to all companies, developers, etc. Sometimes the unexpected happens, we as gamers have to be patient and not get riled up. You forget that these are people making these games; you need to cut the some slack. I’m sure they, well at least most, would love nothing more than to finish their games for you to enjoy but, again…most, would rather not just sloppily put together what they have just to meet deadlines and instead spend some more time, wasting their own money and hard work to make something others will enjoy and talk about. Nintendo doesn’t have the best 1st party games for no reason and there have been a good amount of interviews where Miyamoto and others have expressed their feelings and the reasons on why some games/apps weren’t available at launch.

Speaking your mind to critique on someone’s work isn’t bad. It’s a good way to let others know what you think about their works; What they did bad, good, and what they need/should improve on, BUT, I think you’re being a little too harsh and a tad unrealistic.

      • http://www.facebook.com/chrisskates Kwis Wose

I appreciate your insight, and the fact that you’re engaging in a mature discussion and have not taken the path of calling me a troll.

But please consider this, When was the nintendo Wii U officially announced (answer: E3 2011) when was the Wii U launched? (a: November 2012). Considering this info, and taking into consideration that they may have had time to start development on some of their major games to be ready for launch a year and a half after their announcement, Why is it that only when people started complaining about the lack of games did they hastily drop a Nintendo direct announcing these games as “in development” and “too early to show”? Think of the fact that they had 1.5 years to start developing(even more if you believe that they knew this system would be announced before they announced it). This goes for all the games the fans are begging for. 3d Mario/Starfox/Smash brothers/Zelda/A virtual Console/Metroid/F-zero/Donkey Kong/Pikmin etc…. Is it not logical to assume that they shit the bed?

Some of these games I know could be under development for 2 years or more, but to have Absolutely nothing to show…. really? I mean….. starfox isn’t even in their sights yet!, how was that not brought up at a meeting?

I am by no means suggesting that Nintendo shell out some shit games in six months with the name of their great ips just to keep fans at bay. but they had time to get the ball rolling.

        • Nathaniel Lopez

I usually don’t bother with trolls but the way you constructed your sentences and actually thought about what you were writing and trying to say instead of the usual, hastily done, “Nintendo is domed, lol wait til nex gen console #720 #PS4″ and what not, I assumed you weren’t one, I also un-downvoted you, for lack of a better word, because you clearly had something else on your mind, as you clearly stated in your follow up post.

I’ll admit, that yes, Nintendo could have brought up Star Fox as well as some other series like, F-Zero and DKC to name a few, or perhaps maybe they did and just didn’t want to shed some light on it; They did say a while back that they were still in the process of training their staff to get used to the new hardware to create games in HD, so perhaps they were held up making the games that they already announced.

Furthermore, I think the Nintendo Direct was started what with the Wii U not meeting their previous sales expectation as well as people voicing their curiosity as to why there weren’t many games out yet; they just didn’t want to let their fans, customers, share holders, etc. down and let them know that they are working hard to keep the quality of standards that they are known for and let them in on games that are currently under development.

      • http://www.facebook.com/chrisskates Kwis Wose

also, I do not mind at all that you down voted me. On the flip side, I up voted you because although I don’t completely agree with you, you made a well thought out argument.

        • Nathaniel Lopez

I re-called my downvote, due to your awesome reply/follow-up post to mine.

    • Silent

Its called LAUNCH for a reason. Look it Up

  • WiiLuigi

If put in the right hands Starfox U would be amazing. I’m on board.

  • $41809923

yes bring it on the wii u

  • dasK

YEAH STAR FOX no Crystal though please. And your absolutely right Genesect4ssb4 Crystal did ruin it for everyone even Fox.

    • dylanbob121

Yep,so true.I new I wasn’t the only one out there.

  • Twotribesfox

Two tribes knows how to make a game and they know that people want a new star fox gamelike starfox 64 i think they could do a damn fine job on a new star fox game.

  • WarioForever

Well, I would really like to see a new Star Fox game. Maybe it could be a sequel to Assault, cause Assault had a great idea, like Flying, riding a Landmaster and a battle on foot. It’s really fun on multiplayer.

  • WarioForever

And Krystal will stay. Why, cause I and other people say so.

    • WarioForever

Well the main reason why she will stay is because she is the only female character in the series (not counting that awful Command)

      • dylanbob121

Well…I actually liked command…my least favorite was adventures

  • http://twitter.com/Crabman520 TurboFish

This would be great along with a new Metroid :)
