ZombiU’s first patch fixes game-breaking bugs

Ubisoft have finally released a patch to address several game-breaking bugs in ZombiU.

ZombiU

Today Ubisoft Montpellier released the first patch for ZombiU, correcting a number of game-breaking glitches reported by players. Several missing interactive objects, vanishing ladders and objectives have been fixed so you can continue on your quest to finish the game if you experienced any of these problems. The full patch notes for the release are as follows:

  • On Mission 12, in the Nursery MAP, the interaction with the door in the basement of nursery was missing at rebirth if specific steps were followed.
  • On Mission 13, in the Gas Station MAP, a Mission object that is mandatory to complete the objective was missing if specific steps were followed.
  • On Mission 14, in the Circus MAP, if the player died right after recovering his Backpack, and rebooted the Wii U console, the objective was not updated.
  • On Mission 15, in the Bunker MAP, the Panacea disappeared after the Player died while downloading it. However the objective remained the same (download Panacea).
  • On Mission 10, in the Tower MAP, the Objective “Secure landing site” was not validated if specific steps were followed.
  • On Mission 15, in the Bunker MAP, if specific steps were followed, the Player might get stuck in the Bunker after he took Doctor’s eye / Panacea because a Ladder disappeared.
  • On Mission 16, in the MAP Safe House, the iron curtain in the Safe House lacked of collision during Mission 16. This Bug could lead to a scoring exploit on leaderboards.
  • In the Safe House MAP, the Player saw a placeholder text when he dragged & dropped an item from the Blue Box to his holsters following certain steps.
  • On Mission 12 or 15, in the Nursery MAP, the game crashed if the Player burned the Zombi Nurse while she died.
  • Zombies animations transitions.
  • Online messages spawned in the first section of the MAPs.
  • Scanner’s start volume.
  • Uplay cricket bat Cast Shadow has been removed.
  • Optimizations of the framerate

Did you experience any of these bugs while playing ZombiU? Let us know in the comments.

Basically all of the bottom ones. I felt like I won the lottery running into the other glitches if the game. Still, despite the game breaking glitches a great game has become even better.

  • Arvind Kannan

YES FINALLY SOME WII U NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Link Slayer

Seems like a great time to finally get the game!

  • RyuNoHadouken

i beat this game without experiencing any game breaking bugs…guess i was one of the lucky ones

    • Mario

      Lucky you!

    • WiiUltra

Same here, from list list it seems that most are around the nursery part of the game. *cringes* The damn nursery…

    • Adrian

I think most of us did (including me obviously). But we are the less vocal crowd, so we seem like the minority.

  • aaron

considering the time they had to make this game, its incredibly good. i experienced some bugs, random crashes. looking forward to playing it again without these and improved framerate. if u own a wii u buy this, its been discounted too :)

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

Hopefully they either start a new leaderboard or erase the current one. Then we’ll see who can survive in ZombiU without the item duplication glitch.

    • RonaldRayguns

I don’t know what your talking about but Yeah! they should!

      • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

*In the Safe House MAP, the Player saw a placeholder text when he dragged & dropped an item from the Blue Box to his holsters following certain steps.

This is the item duplication glitch that was fixed in the patch. Basically, by following a specific order of steps, it would allow players to create endless supplies of whatever it is you wanted to duplicate, the most popular being ammo. Given how much more effective firearms were in ZombiU compared to the lackluster cricket bat, players would take as much ammo as possible for their weapon of choice and speed run through the game.

The item duplication glitch made scavenging runs unnecessary, shortening the game length and removing a crucial element of ZombiU. Some people did use it due to the other bugs in the game (not being able to retrieve your supplies, etc.), but most of them abused it or breezed through the game.

    • Chris

There was a duplicate items glitch!!! lol

    • Fred
      • Adrian

Nice, thank you Leo. I will most likely be picking this up tonight. I’ve been looking on craigslist for a 20 or 25$ game pro controller. But this will have to do! At least new = warranty.

        • Fred

That’s right I already have one, but i may pick up a few more since Nintendo controllers NEVER go on sale

  • Seth S. Scott

love this game, hope a sequel is on the way.

    • thedeciderU

i hope so too – more varied melee, new locations, better local multiplayer with many more maps, more weapons, bigger scares. this and nsmbu were my first experiences with the wii u and i want more!

      • ICHI

I agree and would add, different sewer rooms and staircases as they copied and pasted a lot of the joining area’s which is understandable as they seemed to make the game pretty quickly, next one though just overall more graphical variety. Zombies, survivors too could do with a few different sets of textures.

        • thedeciderU

good ideas. i liked the linear storyline gameplay (i.e. you have a mission with a pretty much set route), but they need to make a bigger game overall. so many qualities i like in a game and well executed! i hope they’re considering…

        • Chris

          and a better flashlight! lol

  • D.M.T

I will buy ZombiU in the near future, I played the demo and i love it.

  • Johny

hmm… wow.. when i look at these fixes.. thats some SERIOUS bugs… i kinda never experienced any of these i think… i guess i was just fortunate :)
(ok there was ONE time in later levels when i entered a pipe and there was NOTHING THERE.. only BLUENESS !!! xD i was afraid to step into it… i had a good score.. but i have a screenshot on miiverse:P )

    • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

I only experienced the secure landing site glitch once. I guess I was lucky. Maybe it worked because I played the game exactly as it was meant o be played. It took me like 17 hours to beat it.

  • http://waxingerratic.tumblr.com/ ECM

And just a hair under 5-months…alright…

  • Miguel Angel Barrueta Hernánde

i got it on wii u launch day, but i´ve been busy with AC3 and… work…. so the patch its right on time for me!

    • thedeciderU

i find AC3 to be very frustrating. is it just me? i’ve put about 12 hours of gameplay into the game and have played it just to feel like i got my money’s worth. trying to figure out if it’s a game i like or not.

      • Miguel Angel Barrueta Hernánde

i dont like it is kinda slow at the beginning, but on later levels it gets pretty good, i liked AC2 more than AC3 but the naval missions are a big plus, at least for me…

  • Easter_egg27

It took a little bit but finally we have a patch

  • Mario

    This is nice! Right guys?

  • Oblivion

I had the gas station bug. I purchased the wii u and this game day one and haven’t been able to play since 3 days after purchase.

  • LopsidedPasta

With these patches out, should I get this game? I know it got poor reviews, but reviews aren’t everything. What do you guys think?

    • Johny

only early reviews were bad.. they didnt do the game justice, as the game is so different to what people are used to and what they expect from the game from its genre… however the recent reviews give it much more accurate scores and reviews that really represent what the game is all about…
i think i won’t be the only one to tell you this but,… .the game is AWESOME :D seriously.. its one of best, most immersive, most innovative gaming experiences i’ve experienced in a LOONG time :D the game is addictive, well crafted and executes AWESOMELY for what its trying to represent, that is its genre… Ubisoft really did a GREAT job with this. its my most played game on wii u at the moment (over 50 hours which is alot for a game that is mainly a single player+alittle local multiplayer).
So yeah. the game is awesome. the athmosphere, the gameplay, the immersion. its awesome. a must-have if you are not explicitly ANTI horror/survival/zombie games kind of guy :)

      • LopsidedPasta

How is the online play? Is it smooth and deep like Halo, or slow and deserted like The Conduit?

        • Johny

didnt you read what I wrote ? :
“for a game that is mainly a single player+alittle local multiplayer”
The game is single player. Aside from that, it has LOCAL multiplayer (not online…), which some people dont really like.. its pretty fun.. one player sends the zombies and levels them up among with other stuff, he has a map and all on the gamepad (basicly a strategy game point of view).. and the other player just plays on the tv as 1st person shooter.. and tries to survive as long as he can against those zombies. The only online thing in the game is miiverse integration (posting on walls, dev_team messages in the game on walls,…etc)
so yeah.. if you’re looking for a nice and robust online experience.. this is definately not a game for you .. (instead go for blops2 if you want online fps… its as close as you can get to halo on a wii u console at the moment)

          • LopsidedPasta

When you said ‘mainly’, i thought that meant the online was undesirable. But no online at all? Ouch. Seems to be a trend with the Wii U…

          • Bill Ginzburg Bronson

Im glad its not online, this gives the developers more time to concentrate on the single player which is all i buy a game for anyways.
If you have had enough of fps games like COD buy this game

          • Johny

not every game has to be multiplayer to be good -.- there are multiplayer games, and there are single player games… its how it is…
you cant just put online in every game you know …. for example zelda…

          • LopsidedPasta

Not every shooter needs multiplayer to be good, but it NEVER makes the game worse.

          • Chris

Want some online MP fun get MH3U :)

          • DemonRoach

            the system sucks, stay away.

          • LopsidedPasta

I have the WiiU. It rocks. Nice try.

          • DemonRoach

            keep telling yourself that

          • LopsidedPasta

Why the f**k would I lie about that? I love the console. It’s not my favorite console ever, but the games that I have for it are very enjoyable. You don’t even have the console, so why are you here?

  • RonaldRayguns

    This game fucking sucked

  • Bill Ginzburg Bronson

Finally! I put this game off since i encountered a game ending bug.
Now its time for a restart

  • JG

I played this to death when I first got my Wii U back on launch day and I never experienced one bug myself (actually scratch that, from memory it may have crashed once or twice on loading, but nothing affecting gameplay)… I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

  • David

Lol 3 months for the first patch? Wii U is doomed!

  • http://www.facebook.com/curtis.fay.98 Curtis Fay

faster load times would be ideal. there is nothing more infuriating than running from zombies and dying because the goddamn area behind the door is loading….

  • kicker2222

this game got a bad rep for the reviewing websites like ign. I’m surprised ubisoft still supports the game.

  • D.M.T

Keep saying RIP Wii U like an idiot. We’ll see who has the last laugh. People who want the Wii U to die must have a really sad life. It doesn’t take rocket science to understand that competition is good for business and good for consumers. Sony needs Nintendo and Nintendo needs Sony. Nintendo doesnt really compete with Sony but they obviously want the Wii U to sell more than the PS4 so its still competition kind of. You should be hoping that Wii U becomes successful. True gamers don’t hate on consoles they don’t like.

  • gobrowniesgo

every game takes time to patch! like madden13,BF3,HALO4,COD,ect…Especially one that apparently fixes the whole game..

  • NkoSekirei

    stfu troll

  • Cerus98

Inoright? PS3, 360 and PC games never have to wait months and months and months and months and months for a patch…….oh wait.

    Dumbass kid.

  • WiiUltra

Better than a game coming out with day 1 DLC. Now thats just “RIP”ing people off. Haha

  • Wayne Beck

Nearly every single bad review of this game was Panned as Inaccurate and Unsubstantiated. Critiques reviewed it as a Shooter and not a Survival Game.

  • Nintedward

Wiiu is still in a beta test mode. Wiiu will take the world by storm when games like Mario kart and smash bros come out and when people realize it’s the cheapest console with art aplications like Art academy and things like miverse and much more. It might not sell as much as Wii , but I think Wiiu WILL be pretty successfull. It makes me laugh , cringe and frown simultaneously when people write up these RIDICULOUS doom articles 4 months after launch.

Like When have games like Battlefield ever dictated Nintendo in the past ? that’s right never. Mario kart >>>>> Battlefield nuff said.

  • Mario

    Ha ha ha ha ha!

  • Nintedward

Not only that but it has a respectable 77/100 on metacritic which classifies as a good game that you should definitely consider buying :)

  • catsby

beta test mode?? Do you even know what you are talking about? You dont release a console in a beta test mode haha

  • Guest

Consider this: BeanerSlayer (or whatever other persons who do this) posted his comment simply because he wanted to provoke a reaction from whomever. This gives him some kind of pleasure, which he is probably not even aware of as he does it automatically. The same like other people react to such comments automatically. This happens because we allow ourselves to be controlled by our feelings and emotions, instead of being self-directive. And so this energetic game (ping-pong of words) between fans and haters in this instance, is played, as this generates even more energetic reactions withing the persons who are allowing self to be subdued to ones own emotional reactions. Be self honest and see for yourself how this works. Why do we allow this? Do you see how stupid and useless it is? We all allow ourselves to be mind-controlled through our own energetic emotional reactions! Can we be self-directive as Life or are we just robots?

I observe this and such ping-pongs of words all over the internet, I’m sure you do too. But look how no one really investigates it and see it for what it is! It is being done over and over and over again, just like programmed robots. Man, know thyself! We have to become LIFE and stop being ROBOTS and start caring for Life and stop living in our imaginary mind realities.

  • sithWiiU

Lol! Compare games with two drastically different demographics and in different geners. Life of a Nintendrone must suck. Id take a game with a great story and fun game play any day over any Nintendo game. Point a to point b was fun when I was a lad, but now? It’s a bore. Nintendo games have as much story as Twilight.

  • Laud

    -COUGH- Xbox360 -COUGH- PS3 -COUGH-

You don’t release a console expecting it to have hardware issues or a slow OS but they did.

Besides, this is one of those things all people who buy at launch are prepared for.

I’d agree that it’s kind of like a beta but it isn’t because it’s been released.

  • Mario

What he means is that the WiiU is still on his first steps.

  • Veries Seals

Actually you do. All consoles are released with bugs and glitches. In house beta testers can only find so many before the release of the console or each individual game to the public. The public then finds the bulk of the bugs or glitches. Thats the advantage of the new age consoles. You are able to download updates to fix these issues once discovered. This has been an advantage of the PC for years now. So its actually not a bad thing. Now Nintendo was on great ideas with Mii Verse which some people don’t understand the significance. Mii Verse not only allows us to communicate in public with our browns, grips and opinions. It allows the developers to actually communicate with us directly and hear our complaints with out us having to go through media websites such as Ign. Before now most of us never got our complaints directly to the developer. This allows them to know how or what to put into future patches of the game.

  • Nintedward

    .

  • Nintedward

Idiot. I didn’t mean litteraly a beta test mode.
I mean the way everything is unfinished and rushed and is slowly being pieced together by Nintendo to complete the overall package.

Nintendo Tvii , In game messages , Faster OS are just a few of the major things I am waiting for. My wiiu feels unfinished or still in a kind of ”beta test mode” without them…

  • GermGerm

    Nice speech

  • Nintedward

I read your comment with Morgan Freemans voice narrating it. I don’t know why.

  • Chiwawa

it would be hilarious to hear morgan freeman to say the word ‘haters’ XD

  • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

Yeah, plus the Wii U doesnt have a 50% failure rate unlike other consoles.

  • sithWiiU

    It’s got a 50% bore rate though.

  • greengecko007

What consoles have a 50% failure rate? You’re just making stuff up.

  • Nintedward

Yet here you are playing Crysis 3 going from point A to point B . Exposed.

Way to be a generalizing twat. Xenoblade chronicles and Monster hunter is A to B ? Oh that’s right … they’re more complex than any 360 games . lol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers
  • WiiUltra

How do you know? Oh thats right, you DON’T because you don’t even own one.
