Nintendo UK outs more Virtual Console titles for Wii U

With the launch of the Virtual Console last week, many of you complained that the selection was too bare to be considered worthy of such a high profile launch. Many of the games that were touted as being “new” were in fact holdovers from the original 30 cent promotion, so there were only a few games left for people to buy. Thankfully Nintendo seems to be correcting this, as Nintendo UK has released the video above showing what’s going to be forthcoming in the Wii U Virtual Console.

Titles shown off include Mega Man, Xevious, Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts, Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter II and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. This is quite a heavy-hitting next batch of games and it contains my personal favorite SNES game of all time, Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts. I’ll be excited to see this update hit the Virtual Console soon, how about you?

Excited for Link to the Past anyway. Metroid too but we all knew that was coming.

  • Derty

I love super ghouls n’ ghosts too haha. But my all time favorite game for SNES was Link to the Past so I’m more than excited to play this on my gamepad and play in bed before I go to sleep :)

  • Captinn2

I’m in for Link to the Past!

    • Captinn2

Link to the Past: Best Zelda Game. Ever

      • Andrew W Garttmeyer

        My favorite game.

      • Jack5221

Mmm… 2nd best Zelda game ever. :) NOTHING beats Ocarina of Time.

        • ICHI

Actually I’m with the other guys, I played Ocarina so much more than any other zelda that I prefer the others now. So for me OOT was the best game ever, now I’d rather play majoras mask (e.g. the one I played the least)

          • Magnus Eriksson

            I prefer all of them:)

        • http://twitter.com/SeroReviews SeroReviews

Ocarina of Time does not enter in rankings. It will always reign supreme as the best game ever. LOL. Aside from that, LttP is my favorite Zelda ever

        • Wayne Beck

That’s a really tough call. I personally prefer Link to the Past. Both Games share a lot of great traits. Both were absolutely gorgeous for their time. They both had a fantastic amount of content, dungeons and side quests. They both had great storylines.

I think I just give it to Link to the Past for it’s elegance in simplicity.

          • Jack5221

Well, to be fair I should hold my judgment. I’ve never played Link to the past. Soon as its in the VC ill have to get it. After all, Lttp 2 is coming out for the 3DS some time. Will love to try them both out.

      • fireheartis1

Sorry everyone but I’m a Zelda player of a different breed. Although I loved Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time; Twilight Princess for Wii is my favorite Zelda game of all time. The motion controls may not have been one to one, but the pointer controls made the game awesome. The story, the boss battles, the atmosphere, and the art direction all beat out Ocarina and A Link to the Past. Heck Wind Waker has to be my second favorite Zelda game, and Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past 3rd and 4th respectfully.

        • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, Me too. I loved the dark atmosphere…

      • Captinn2

I’m getting prepared for the ultimate Virtual Console release on Wii U. All that motherfudgin’ 16-bit graphics…EWW IM DREWLING OVER PIXELS(Yayyyy)!

        • Captinn2

My WIi U sales forecast: 10000000000000

    • DK_Hadouken

You and pretty much everyone else. This will hold me until the 3DS sequel.

  • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

I already have this on Wii VC but will upgrade it. I started playing it again a couple weeks ago when I heard about the 3DS sequel coming out. I read on another site that we may be able to bring over our save point in the game?? If not then I guess I will start over again. Link to the past is probably my favorite Zelda Game in the series.

  • RonnieMexico

itz too bad I dontz have a wii u anymore…I chucked it off mi 3rd story balcony after the bad wall st. reports last week…

    • Peter Rogers

Well wot a nob you are!

    • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Maybe you should play less video games and go back to school to learn how to spell.

      • RonnieMexico

        nigga uz racist az fcuk

    • fireheartis1

Only an idiot would do such a thing. What did you take it out on you console because you lost money on bad investments? Or your mad that Nintendo looked to make a lose from the Wii, even though, the company actually made a profit off of it? Man people like you trip me out bro. Spend your hard earned money on something and do something stupid and wasteful with it like throw it off a 3 story building. Man people like you are what make human’s look plain ignorant. Sorry bro but you have to realize that was a pretty stupid thing too do.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brent.mccardell Brent McCardell

Grr. I’m SO sick of Nintendo never telling you WHEN something is coming out!!! For all we know these will be sprinkled out over the next 6 months!!! Stop with the teasers and just release games!!

    • Denvy

Perhaps because they know things change. Are you pissed off more not knowing when, or being told a date and it being pushed back at the last second?

    • Agent X

      I kinda argee……

  • Jeffrey Debris

I don’t want to sound old by saying “Things were better in the past”, but some of these games still haven’t been beaten in terms of gameplay. I’m looking forward to Street Fighter II, Zelda: ALTTP, Super Metroid, Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and all of the Megaman games!

    • DK_Hadouken

I’m 24 and I feel like an old gamer. Many things were better in the past. Developers should look back and realize how much blood they put into their games and how it truly shined. Games now normally require an immediate update and that is serious cop-out.

    • Agent721

Ill have to disagree… I’m an old gamer who’s first system was an Atari 2600 & for me, the current gen is the best, with the Uncharted series being the best in gaming. I love Nintendo the most, but Uncharted is AAA gold. That being said, I can’t wait to put these oldies but goodies through their paces again.

    • Adrian

I feel new games focus alot on graphics and action shots rather than content (much of the time). There is alot of exception of course. But I do feel many newer titles lack the content of older titles.

  • Nintedward

Yeah! Lttp , Street fighter and Super ghouls and ghosts , I want all 3.

    • fireheartis1

Dude every time I see your picture of Reggie playing the Wii it makes me laugh. The concentration on his face is priceless lol.

      • Nintedward

IKR ? It’s a classic picture , It makes me laugh everytime I see it xD

  • http://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

I’m more of the N64 – GBA generation so I’ll pass these
(Well, except for Super Metroid and maybe Super Mario World…)

  • Andrew Forza

Hey Nintendo how about just have the ONE online store instead of alienating other countries for no apparent reason?

  • Fred

    I’ll get Super Mario Bros

    • andrewjcole

I have it for virtual console on my Wii.

      • Fred

So for $1 you can play on the gamepad without having to boot up wii mode. In my book: Well worth it!

        • andrewjcole

Yeah. I might get the Wii U version too to compare!

  • ICHI

I dont see how they can’t just port over all the current VC games pretty quickly then focus on giving us new ones. Please Nintendo Rondo of Blood and Simons Quest (the first metroidvania game people forget about when quoting SOTN as the original) are needed!!!

  • Agent721

Super Ghouls n Ghost is awesome, ill be redownloading that one for $1 for sure. Man that game was hard!!!! And simon’s quest too…its Halloween in May!!

  • YogurtuMghe

I would love to play UN Squadron off TV.

  • random

Will they be in 60hz? If so I will buy else I wont bother

  • Magnus Eriksson

All but Xevious are good games! :)

  • Adrian

I’ve played through a link to the past too many times to remember (same with super mario world) and I still own both on my SNES. So I don’t know when i’ll buy these VC titles. I hope the next Zelda has upgradeable swords like LttP. The last Zelda I played was Twilight Princess, which I loved. But I wanted a cooler sword than just the master sword :-p. Remember the BiGGoron sword? Freakin awesome.

  • Geoffrey Tasker

I’m going make sweet sweet love to street fighter 2 then point at zelda to let it know its next

  • Jon

if it has a link to the past, Super Street fighter and megaman, I’d be happy :)

heck, I’d be happy with just Zelda :D

  • tronic307

The GamePad was MADE for A Link to the Past! Bring it on!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/benjamin.moberly Benjamin Moberly

This is good. As long as they keep releasing VC games I’ll be happy.

  • http://www.bagofgames.com/author/jennero/ Jennero Rossi

Need Link to the Past now!

  • djf

Okay, I have looked at all the past footage of confirmed games coming to the Wii U virtual console, including the ones already there we can expect:

    Yoshi’s Cookie
    Kirby Super Star
    Wrecking Crew
    Kirby Dreamland 3
    Yoshi
    Kirby’s Dream Course
    Earthbound
    Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
    Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
    Donkey Kong
    Pac-Man
    Street Fighter II
    Donkey Kong Jr.
    Super Metroid
    Super Mario
    Xevious
    Mega Man
    Excite Bike
    F-Zero
    Punch Out!!
    Kirby’s Adventure
    Balloon Fight
    Ice Climber
    Super Mario World

So it will at least be getting strong first party support, now all Nintendo needs to do is alter the prices.

  • ChariotMan7

IT Seems like the Wii U Just Keeps Getting Stronger the More Hate it Gets.
