Nintendo announces a 3DS Nintendo Direct this Wednesday

Nintendo of Europe have just announced a 3DS-exclusive Nintendo Direct for Wednesday.

nintendo-direct

The Nintendo of Europe Twitter account has just announced a new Nintendo Direct event for the 3DS this coming Wednesday, April 17th. The event will likely cover the future of the Nintendo 3DS, possibly including Miiverse integration and the UI make over that Nintendo has talked about for some time now.

No information on whether anything Wii U related will be discussed, but we’ll be watching and covering the event anyway just to give you a recap of what was said. A few weeks ago Nintendo released a video showing the speed improvements planned for an April update for the Wii U, so it’s possible we might hear more about that during the webcast. Other than that, expect Wii U news to be scarce, as it’s likely Nintendo will be holding out for E3 for any big reveals they have coming.

  • Felix

i dont care about 3ds news. i come to WIIUdaily for wii u news. and please, no patcher or EA news neigher.

    • D.M.T

You’re a little rude. Others care you know. Just skip articles you dont care about and read the ones you care.

      • Fred

I would, however, love for them to create a 3DSdaily.com just like they created a PS4.com site.

        • Tim van Broekhoven

Hey, lol. Never knew about http://www.ps4daily.com Thanks dude

        • Ace J

nintendo3dsdaily.com is a site about the 3DS. in fact they just now put up a article about the rumor of Majoras Mask coming to the 3DS. go check it out!

          • Fred

Would Nintendo really put out Majoras Mask 3DS this close to A Link to the Past sequel?
On another note thanks for the website I didn’t know about it.

          • Ace J

thats why i said rumor before we even knew about the link to the past sequel -.- and no problem about the site

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004766431201 Barney Stinson

It is rude, and I like 3DS news. But technically he’s right. This is a site exclusive to Wii U.

  • djvalbnc

Why not Wii U direct Nintendo, why..? :-(

    • Fred

I’m surprised we’re even getting this. With E3 coming soon, I’d bet we only get news on games that are coming out before E3

      • D.M.T

Why are you surprised? There was a pre-E3 Nintendo Direct last year. This Direct was literally given to us a few days before E3. Expect the unexpected from Nintendo

    • Squid

The stuff from Janruary was awesome, E3 is only going to have more for Wii U, 3DS Needs a tiny more, even though that Pokemon X is enough for me.

      • dylanbob121

        so true

    • NkoSekirei

maybe cause they want to save the biggest wii u game announcements till e3

    • THEMIGHTYDOOVDE

I was gutted when 3DS popped up too :-(

    • Pikachief

Getting most of the 3DS stuff before and after E3 and using E3 to highlight the Wii U as much as possible seems like the best thing for nintendo to do right now.

    • Alex

Is best to keep the news about WiiU until E3 because I don’t want to get it spoiled and the E3 would be boring.

  • Nintendofreak

i want a update for the mii verse cuz come on who doesnt wanna put pants n shirts in those poor naked miis

    • Tim van Broekhoven

      WTF do U mean???? o_O

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004766431201 Barney Stinson

      XD What?!?

    • dylanbob121

      I think…I get it…holy crap

      • Nintendofreak

finally somebody has seen the light

  • AAAkabob

I recently got a 3DSXL so this news is relevant for me=D

    • Squid

      Same! Pikachu 3DS? :D

      • AAAkabob

Nah I couldn’t see myself in public w/ a giant pikachu on my hand held…If it were the triforce however…anyways I got the blue and it’s actually a darker blue than even on the box which pleases me.

I expect it would be similar to how the February 3DS ND played out when it comes to Wii U news: a recap of upcoming games scheduled for release before E3, and maybe one or 2 unexpected, but minor announcements, such as NSMBU Luigi DLC pricing and release date. There may be a pre-E3 Wii U ND, but I think it would be better just to save the big guns for E3.

    • Fred

      I’d love a release date for Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, & Wonderful 101

      • dylanbob121

too bad its a 3ds direct

      • DragonSilths

Game And Wario had one…June sometime I forget. Late June after the 20th.

        • Fred

Gamefly says June 30th, but it’s not official (I’ve looked at Nintendo’s site many times so either Gamefly has inside info or they’re guessing (since it’s supposed to be Q2)

          • DragonSilths

Well Q2 is April, May, June…

  • Magnus Eriksson

Sometimes I start to wonder if Nintendo dropped the ball completly on the WiiU. They are way too silent. Its not like its secrecy, its more like they dont have anything to say.

Where is the spring update for example?

    • NkoSekirei

maybe their saving the the rest of the wii u game announcements till e3

      • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, maybe… but it doesnt make sense. A bad startin the first financial year is ok, but really bad in its second.

    • Fred

      Silent???

We know we’re getting the following first party games this year
      Game and Wario
      Yarn Yoshi
      Pikmin 3
      Wii Fit U
      Wii Party U
      Wonderful 101 (ok 2nd party)
      Wind Waker HD
Yes most of them were pushed back (even multiple times) but they’ve told us about them they’re not being silent

      Plus the possibility of
      Mario Kart
      3D Mario
before Christmas (we know they’re working on them and we know they’ve been working on them for awhile and certainly Nintendo would love to finish them before Christmas as they would be system sellers)

We also know they’re working on a Xenoblade Sequel and a new Zelda. We know a lot of what they’re working on it’s just taking longer than we want to actually get them.

    • Ace J

its mid april. spring last until the end of june you know

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004766431201 Barney Stinson

When Miiverse heads to phones and 3DSs,it will mean a lot more trolls. I assume Nint will have it so that you need to have a 3DS or Wii U to make an account. But there are a lot of PS and XBOX fanboys who have 3DSs. I’ve seen a lot of people on Youtube, who own a 3DS and just hate on it.

    • Nobody

Well, that’s a problem easily solved by not being a Nintendo fanboy, and their “trolling” will mean nothing to you.

  • bizzy gie

A UI makeover? Well when they bring Miiverse to the 3DS, I assume it’ll be 3DS based. Meaning the communities will have 3DS games instead of Wii U ones. They’re also suppose to be ridding of friend codes for the 3DS. So I assume that when they integrate Miiverse with the 3DS, that’s when they’ll also get rid of friend codes and redesign the OS.

  • Jon

So I decided to ask Nintendo through support why there is nothing about the Wii U and that I am starting to grow concerned through their lack of news and updates and this is their reply:

    ________________________________________________

    Hello,

    Thanks
for writing. It’s great to hear you’re a fan of Wii U and Nintendo
3DS, and I’m glad you took the time to share your concerns with us.
I’ll be sure to document your comments and will forward them to the
relevant departments here at Nintendo for further review. We appreciate
hearing what is important to our fans.

I first wanted to affirm that we intend to fully support Wii U
through out it’s lifecycle as a system. We greatly appreciate the
investment our fans make in our hardware, and are committed to bringing
them the best gameplay experiences possible in return.

In regard to the announced Wii U update, I can certainly understand your interest. However, Nintendo is very careful to only announce a specific release date for projects when the developers are ready to do so. This
means that you know as much as anyone else outside the development
teams about the next update for Wii U. We just don’t have any
additional information to provide at this time. In terms of a Nintendo
Direct or other specific Wii U-related news, I can’t speculate as to
when the next announcement may occur. However, I can assure you that we
are constantly at work developing new and exciting game ideas and
    services.

    I
know were hoping for more specific details about the future of Wii
U, but I can assure you that eventually we will pull back the curtain
and share all the new and exciting information via our official
websites. In the meantime, however, we appreciate
your patience as development continues and ask that you continue
checking our websites. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us.

    Sincerely,

    _________________________________________________

so… not much…. hopefully he is right and stuff will be announced later and he was telling the truth about the exciting stuff they are working on because I don’t want to give up hope with my Wii U as I love the system

  • dylanbob121

*cough* announce a new starfox game*cough*

    • Fred

      YES That would be awesome!

  • Super Buu

Seriously? Unless Nintendo plans on making the coming next Nintendo Directs (With an ”S” at the end) Wii U Directs, the Wii U isn’t going to do better than before.. Better yet is if they make E3 very Wii U related because this is seriously getting annoying. The 3DS is already destroying the competition, it’s on its feet already,it has a crap ton of software, its install base is like 30 millions or so, it DOESN’T NEED THIS KIND OF SUPPORT!The Wii U however needs as much support as it can get the way it is right now.

    • Fred

Yes, but remember these are probably games that Nintendo started developing back when the 3DS was strugling. They’re working on a bunch of Wii U games, it’s just a question of when they’ll come out. We plan on getting the following first party games this year
      Game and Wario
      Yarn Yoshi
      Pikmin 3
      Wii Fit U
      Wii Party U
      Wonderful 101 (ok 2nd party)
      Wind Waker HD

      With a possibility of
      Mario Kart
      3D Mario
before Christmas (we know they’re working on them and we know they’ve been working on them for awhile and certainly Nintendo would love to finish them before Christmas as they would be system sellers)

And possibly the 2 most anticipated games, but I have no clue when
      Xenoblade sequel
      Zelda U

Nintendo is supporting the Wii U, it’s just unfortunate that more of these games aren’t already out.

  • Neilandio

I hope we get some X/Y news

    • dylanbob121

      OMG yeah!

  • John Madsen

i would love to see a interface overhaul and full screen support as well for virtual console titles

  • Johny

    wii u needs more love :( 3ds got enough…

  • DragonSilths

The only Wii U Nintendo Direct we need is the 3rd party one. No way can Nintendo and every 3rd party show off everything in a 1 hour E3 show. Also a Pikmin 3 and W101 release date added to the 3rd party direct. But thats all we need before E3.

  • Luicidic

Nintendo of Europe IS singular, so Nintendo of Europe HAS announced…

  • steinhauershawn

The Wii U needs some love. The 3DS has a decent library of games now and Fire Emblem Awakening and Luigi’s Mansion just came out a little while ago so this should have been for Wii U.

  • Thomas Fitzgibbon

JUST ANNOUNCED! MOTHER/EARTHBOUND SERIES BEING RELEASED ON WII U VIRTUAL CONSOLE!!! SO NINTENDO ‘DO’ ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THEIR FANS! THANK YOU NINTENDO, THANK YOU!
