Satoru Iwata becomes the Nintendo of America CEO after fiscal report

iwata

Today Nintendo reported on its fiscal year, with several changes in leadership taking place for the next fiscal year. Saturo Iwata is assuming the role of Nintendo of America Chief Executive Officer, directly overseeing current Nintendo of America President and Chief Operating Office Reggie Fils-Aime. This change in board members will see Iwata replacing NoA chairman and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima, who will return to Nintendo’s Kyoto headquarters as a General Manager of Corporate Analysis and Administration.

Nintendo have released a statement saying the company is committed to unifying the company’s global strategy and the new positions for board members will allow for “streamlined decision-making and enhance Nintendo’s organizational agility”.

Net profits for Nintendo reached only half of what the company predicted, with just 7 billion yen in profit.

Poor Reggie, his body just… wasn’t quite ready.

    • Jonn McNally

Reggie’s still the president of NOA.

  • Magnus Eriksson

Its almost a comedy how the fanboys here acts that everythin goes as it should with the WiiU refering to the 3DS experience. Nintendo is clearly failing with their WiiU, due to two factors; ignorance and greed.

    • Jonn McNally

      Keep telling yourself that.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Oh, Im sitting here alone in the darkness talking about stuff that noone else believes in? Here is a quite good article concerning the failure of WiiU (It is clearly a failure no matter what a few gamers insists upon).
        http://www.geekinsider.com/2013/03/30/is-the-wii-u-a-failure/

        • uPadWatcher

Maggie… don’t believe what you read on the internet.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Do most people believe that WiiU is going to be a success or a failure? What do analysts think? Retailers? Third party? Consumers?

EVERYONE believes it is a failed product. Why do you think Unreal Engines producers laughed at WiiU? Its a childrens toy presented as “a hardcore gaming device”.

          • fireheartis1

Dude you can’t call a system that sold over 3 million a failure after only 5 months on the market. It’s Nintendo who’s failed to advertise hits the slow Wii U sales. The Wii U has a whole lot of untapped potential. Once Nintendo get’s their butt in gear and start advertising the Wii U it will sell a whole lot better. People are still so ignorant to believe it’s a controller for the original Wii. That right there falls all on Nintendo for sure, but once people realize the Wii U is a brand new console things will change. It sold better than PS3 and 360 at launch dude. That right there says something about the system. Once developers find that sweet spot with the Wii U more people will buy it. Wii U is only failing because lack of average consumer knowledge of the system. Will it win the next console war probably not, but I do see it heading to 2nd place. I predict PS4 1st place Wii U second place Xbox 720 3rd place. Why do I see this because most people don’t want to have to rely on Kinect 2 in order to play games. The GamePad is much better than Kinect 2 and PS 4’s controller looks really cool with the touch pad. I think Sony’s financial troubles are about over, While Nintendo’s will improve, and Microsoft will go back to strictly making PCs because that’s what their best at.

          • Magnus Eriksson

According to Nintendo themselves it is a failure. It didnt meet the expectation of 5.5m nor even the revised at 4m the first financial year. It still hasent reached that level and they wont be able to reach its expectations this year either. WiiU sells worse and worse every day. That will continue until E3 and then it might have a small boost before sinking back again. People just dont want Nintendo anymore…

            @facebook-544995870:disqus

Correction… Nintendo believes it has failed in some areas regarding the Wii U which they are trying to correct. Sony and Microsoft did not always meet their projected sales goals with their consoles year to year or even month to month so does that mean they are a failure? Apple did not meet some of their goals financially and neither did Microsoft in their other areas so are they a failure? Your logic severely flawed so the only failure I see is you.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Oh wise master, let me follow you? I want to learn from your wisdom making me a better an less flawed person. May I call you my dear leader?

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

If you want. It’s not my fault that you cannot see past your own ignorant bubble.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, so ignorant that I actually look to the facts and not listening to a bunch of fanboys with wishful thinking…

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Fact… several companies are falling short of their sales goals due to many factors and the economy being one of the biggest ones.

Fact… Nintendo has sold millions of Wii U consoles and Millions of their games but fell a bit short just like other companies (see fact 1)

Fact… Wii U is 6 months old and like other new products may take time to take off. Just like the PS3 needed time and so did the XBOX360 when it came out.

Sometimes items are a breakthrough success out of the gate and sometimes they need to be in for a longer run and not a sprint.

          • NkoSekirei

ur the biggest fool on here since sithwiiu r.i.p.

          • Fred

            This is how you debate?

          • Fred

Yes and that 5.5 million was based on the fact that they thought we’d already have Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Wii Fit U, Game and Wario, Wonderful 101, and more, but since we don’t have any of those it didn’t do so well. Wait until all these killer games come out things will change. This Christmas when there is an incredibly long list of Wii U games and only short lists for PS4 and Durrango the Wii U sales won’t be so slow.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

            @facebook-544995870:disqus

There is information out there that praises the Wii U and show that it will eventually become more successful and popular. 6-7 months in on a new console (or any device for that matter) is not time to determine complete failure. Nintendo has dropped the ball on some items for this launch and that I will not deny but to say EVERYONE believes it is a failed product based on your personal opinion or what you choose to read is just plain silly.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Ok, we will see who is right then. I owe one myself so of course I would love to be wrong and you right. But I dont see it happen…

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

I guess we will see won’t we. I just think 6 months in is way too early to predict total failure on. It hasn’t been a shining success but complete failure? Please. Nintendo’s top games haven’t even come out yet and some of them are due this year. Pokemon, Mario Kart, WindWaker HD and new 3D Mario will sell millions of consoles alone. Then when the new Zelda comes out next year (as projected) all bets are off.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, but what you are stating here is a failure in itself. Nintendo failed to release software to their own product. They faied to attract other publishers to release their software to their product and they failed to convince consumers to buy the products and failed to convince retailers about the future. There is a lot of failure here, a little bit to much and not everything is mentioned. But turn it the other way; In wich areas have WiiU succeeded?

          • http://www.facebook.com/jeremy.thompson.7737769 Jeremy Thompson

Yeah but lets hope they dont come out to late, a lot of attention is already on the ps4 and the next xbox is giving a peek next month so it needs something to shine out and its not easy to outshine a already known new console but new games will just extend its life a bit further but by far no means be the number 1 console. But we will see if newer games of old franchise’s does for it but by all means it will sell just not close to the number of the other consoles because the gameing community isnt all nintendo and people bought the wii mainly because it was cheap for their kids ty

          • Fred

I think it will be a success (notice I didn’t say massive success like the Wii was) because Nintendo makes such incredibly fun games that people will buy their console to play the games. The 3DS struggled until Nintendo had a full year to put out awesome games and then it started taking off. As more and more Nintendo made games come out (Smash Bros, Zelda, 3D Mario, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Yarn Yoshi, Winkd Waker, Xenoblade 2, and more) people will buy the Wii U for those games.

          • Edward Dudley

I think you missed Pikmin, Bayonetta 2, and Wonderful 101.

          • Fred

Thanks you further proved my point

          • Steven Scott

Nothing will ever beat the Wii in sales that was just luck no matter which company did it
The Wii U will be right along side the new systems it will just have to pass some bumps in the road there are so many things that it can do
most people want to wait and see what everyone else has to offer before they put money on a system they will have for 6+ years
and so people can’t afford to switch systems if they have controllers or games that work with their current system

          • Fred

The controllers is one of the beauties of the Wii U. $350 is the actual price if you are a Wii owner because you don’t have to add $150 for 3 more controllers just use your Wii controllers it’s awesome (for me it made the Wii U cheaper than the Wii)

          • Steven Scott

            Yes that is true
plus we don’t even know how much the new PS4 controllers will cost
it may cost as much as the Wii U gamepad and you will need 4 of them if you want to play wit your friends
Now that the Wii U has the spring update before the other systems even come out
Nintendo can have all the bugs worked out before the competitors have a chance to announce a price for their systems

          • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

Wait, do you mean this article?

            http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/30/unreal-engine-4-not-designed-to-work-on-wii-u/

I guess you didn’t read the update, what a schocker.

          • Ace J

3DS….nuff said. i dont even have to go into detail

          • uPadWatcher

            Shut up, Mag.

        • Adam Porter

so you show us a bunch of opinions from people who don’t own a wiiU, do you own a wiiU??

          • Magnus Eriksson

            yep, owe one

          • Adam Porter

and what’s your opinion? why don’t you like it?

          • Magnus Eriksson

I think the article sums it up. But to be honest I liked both Nintendoland and NSMBU to a certain degree. I like to play it with my kids so not everything is lousy shit. But its not good enough. I like to use the Wii part for Wii Sports or my old Wii games or VC games bought on my Wii. I use that part way more than playing on the WiiU.

I liked to play ZombiU until it got boring (way to repetetive), and AC3 was ok altough it was a little bit to much in medias res cause i didnt play the others.

So thats the parts I like and appreciate with WiiU. Here is what I dislike:

            1. There is no first party games and honestly no third party either. What it is nothing but leftovers, shovelware and titles that could be released to mobile phone aswell.

            2. The console does not work as it should. Its way to slow, worse than the others current gen.

            3. It is current gen in the very end of its lifecycle. It is not compeeting with next gen but current gen – at a much higher price with less to offer.

            4. Nintendo rushed ot the console, breaking promises over and over again about own releases.

            5. They are not releasing anything new from their best franchises, but reusing old concepts as NSMBU is part of. This New is getting Old.

            6. VC should have been up from thebeginning, with full library not released like this wit 4 new titles. Its a joke.

            7. Nintendo had their chanses with two E3, there should really not be anything like; “wait for next e3 2013″

            8. They pretended to be something they are not. Its a childrens toy first of all.

          • Adam Porter

okay, in regards to point 8. anyone who is a gamer and doesn’t think that their system is a children’s toy first and foremost is delusional, that’s what video games are for, kids, “mature” games are just for very immature big kids. i kind of get where you’re coming from with points 2,5 and 6, i want all the goodies now too, but that just isn’t possible and we have to wait like we do with every other console. 7. that’s just a childish statement, you’re just weeks away from the goodies you always wanted but now you are just like “too late, don’t love you anymore”. and point 1. is fair enough, i don’t think the wiiU will get an over abundance of western 3rd party titles, personally i couldn’t care less as it’s these games i find worthless, i have no interest in watchdogs, witcher, elderscrolls, battlefield, assassin’s creed, batman arkham whatever, and especially the most juvenile beaten to death concept of a game that is GTA(played all of them up to san andreas btw, then i grew up)

          • bizzy gie

The Wii U is getting an update to improve OS speeds.

Watch_Dogs, GTA V, Arkham Origins, and even AC4 aren’t typical blood-and-gore games. Watch_Dogs looks incredibly fun and new. The previous two Arkham games were well received by consumers and critics alike. The GTA series has been amazing. GTA V is the most anticipated game of the year.

I’m not understanding what “growing up” has to do with missing out on some of the best games releasing this year.

          • Adam Porter

i’ll tell you what it has to do with growing up, GTA doesn’t amuse me in the slightest anymore, it is aimed at the humor of a 15 year old boy. i’m not interested in gangsta related movies, games or music, they are so predictable and boring, nearly every gangsta movie or game is a clone of eachother, i’ll give gta one thing, when it first came out it was original but now it’s just a clone of itself.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

            @facebook-100001041102308:disqus

It’s funny that people mock Nintendo about releasing new titles using their popular franchises of past but seem to think that every COD, HALO, [Insert any other war game here], is new. It’s really no different if you think about it. I am hoping GTA5 is something new and fresh as I once enjoyed the series up to GTA3. I even picked up GTA4 and regretted it as it was the same old MO. Lost interest in it. Yes SMB U is very similar to Super Mario Bros Wii but you know what the game is fun to play. I find myself on the gamepad helping my wife get through the levels and having friends over to play multi-player which to me is way more fun than hopping online to play with strangers. There is something about direct human interaction that you cannot get through the interwebs. Same goes for Nintendoland and I am looking forward to Smash Bros and Mario Kart so I can do the same with my wife, family and friends on or offline in person.

          • bizzy gie

GTA V is basically an upgraded San Andreas. That was the best GTA. You should give it one last try.

          • Aaron Pollard

Excuse me, Maggy, you say you have kids, Yet you type like a 14 year old 360 fanboy who just want to troll others

        • http://weeklyrift.com/ Tim Biggs

Dude even this article that you’re flashing around says the system is “in trouble” and that Nintendo has its work cut out for it going forward. You’re saying the Wii U has failed. Those two things are very different. The system’s been out less than a year. Nobody has any idea what will happen in the future, and you look like a fool for pretending you do.

          • Magnus Eriksson

But I dont agree with him on that part. I believe that the product WiiU have failed (not the company as it obviously is a multimillion dollar company with a lot in the bank). The guy who wrote the article shows the reasons why, altough he himself does not dare to call it failed yet. But it is failed. It is not compeeting with next ge, it is compeeting with current gen as Nintendo acknowledge that both PS3 and XBOX360 will make the PS2 run, and this is what they are competing with. Without any support 3p or ability to launch own franchises at a steady pace they obviously is failing. Heck, retailers wont even sell the console and many ar cutting price just to get rid of it. That is very unwise of Nintendo. They dont even seem to understand what the problem is. GAMES, FEW GAMES, FEW GOOD GAMES.

But Tim, do you believe Nintendo is in trouble? How much trouble?

        • Ace J

it fAilz s000 hardz bro hahahh thez FaNboyzz R mad hahaha! *sarcasm* its only been out for 5 months. lets see how long you will be riding the “wii u is doomed/failure” band wagon 1-3 years from now. fucking hate dip shits like you that are so quick to jump to conclusion. your ignorant as fuck

Oh hang on you spelt something wrong there, I’ll fix it for you:
*Microsoft is clearly failing in both the console business and the PC business, due to two factors; ignorance and greed.

      There you go ^^

      • Magnus Eriksson

Hahaha! Well, I dont disagree on the premises only the conclusion. MS is not failing.

        • NkoSekirei

yes it is dude if their going strictly online only for gaming that gonna hurt them alot

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Not to mention if they change to x86 chip architecture like the PS4 and do not put in something to allow compatibility to their XBOX360 titles and digital content essentially making all their old content unusable on the new system that is going to alienate many people including me.

        • DragonSilths

When it comes to the Xbox and the gaming part of Microsoft they are failing. Microsoft in the PC market and such is not failing.

          • jay

            Thank You Winblows!

    • Saul Rivera

Well to my eyes its going the same way as the release of any new console…which starts off slow but steadily gains steam afterwards (when the games people truly want are released)…it went the same with the PS3 and 360..the Wii was just lucky..
Expect the same with the PS4…it’ll probably sell a lot on the first day..but than it’ll slowdown and deja vu…

      • Magnus Eriksson

Well, have you read this? I think he has some really good points.

        http://www.geekinsider.com/2013/03/30/is-the-wii-u-a-failure/

        • fireheartis1

This article never claims the Wii U is a failure bro. What the frak did you read? The author of the article says it’s too early to say. I says “Is the Wii U in dire straights’? “Yes”! “Is the Wii U a failure”? “It’s too early to tell if the Wii U doesn’t bring something to E3 then it will fail, but if it brings something that offers a lot to hardcore gamers then it will succeed”. Man bro I know I didn’t quote him verbatim but come on this is pretty much what the author said and you know it. The Wii U hasn’t failed just yet. It’s up to Nintendo to bring something big at E3 and if they don’t then you can call the Wii U a failure. Until then shut up and watch what happens.

          • Magnus Eriksson

It is failing. Dont you see it?

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

You are failing at seeing anything beyond what you read from a blog. If you looked at history you would see that the Original XBOX was doomed to fail and Microsoft was doomed to fail in the console business according to analysts and bloggers. The PS3 was doomed to fail and had a very rough start for quite a while (much longer than 6 months) and consistently fell short of sales projections. Now it is very successful just like Microsoft and their console. Nintendo does not need to be number 1 to succeed. Some may view it as a war or a race but I surely do not.

          • Magnus Eriksson

You failed bigtime with that comment. It clearly shows the weakness in your arguments when you need to atack my kids in a discussion with me (whom you never met). :)

          • fireheartis1

Hey bro just letting you know I’m the one that voted up this comment. I hate when people attack other people’s kids man. I have two boys of my own so I know that comment must have pissed you off severely. People like that do not deserve to be on the internet, and forget that freedom of speech bull crap argument as well. If somebody attacks a child like that on the internet I think it should be a law that it’s verbal assault on a child and fines should be given. It’s immature and really messed up. Bob Wilkerson should have never brought your kids into the conversation. That was ignorance at it’s best and should have never been said.

          • fireheartis1

Dude I have to agree with Magnus Eriksson on this one man. There was no reason to bring his innocent children into this conversation. This is his opinion not the opinion of his children. Don’t ever bring somebody kids into the mix man. That’s where ignorance lies bro. There was no need to attack his kids. What kind of man are you bro that’s just sickening. Next time grow up and chill out or I’ll personally send another comment like this to Wii U daily as inappropriate content.

          • bizzy gie

            Calm your face.

The point is that this is a grown man (or most likely a teen dad or just lied and is no older than 12) acting like a child. He clearly has no idea what he’s talking about. He refuses to pay attention to facts and just keeps saying the Wii U has failed when it hasn’t. His ignorance defines him.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

It wasn’t an attack… it was sympathy that he will be teaching his children his close minded ways. But you are right and for that I apologize. I will remove the children information.

          • fireheartis1

No I don’t see it failing. I see that it’s in dire straights right now. Nintendo failed with the lack of advertising for the Wii U is what’s happening. I get so sick of people asking me if we have the controller that adds HD to the Wii. It’s like how dumb can people be to even think a controller can add HD graphics to a SD console. It’s Nintendo’s lack of common sense advertising that put the Wii U in dire straights as it is right now. If they show what the Wii U can do at E3 and put out some major advertising then the Wii U will succeed. It wont be a huge success but it will make Nintendo a profit. The chance of a huge success is over for Nintendo, but to make it a success they need to bring out more advertising and show the big guns at E3. And no I don’t agree with you that it’s current gen. It’s 50% stronger than PS3 and 60% stronger than 360. That makes it strong enough to be considered next gen hardware. With being 50% and 60% stronger than the current gen hardware it’s just stupid to call it current gen. It might be the weaker of the next gen consoles but it’s still next gen bro. Weaker doesn’t always mean worse console either. PS2 was way weaker than GameCube and Xbox and it still kicked the crap out of those two systems in the 6th gen. That’s because at the time Sony marketed the console wisely and had great advertising. If Nintendo did the same with the Wii U it would have been more successful, but as of now we can only wait and see and when E3 comes if Nintendo doesn’t pull out the big guns then I’ll be willing to call the Wii U the failure that had so much more potential.

          • NkoSekirei

u need to act ur age and stop trolling like a 12 year old squeaker

        • Saul Rivera

Yeah he does have some good points but I would still wait and see what happens when the good games come out…like what happened with the 3DS…E3 is really their chance to win over those who have not already bought the console…

What I personally think though..is that it should not have been called the Wii U ha…that was their biggest mistake right out of the gate…but oh well

      • NkoSekirei

        yep

    • Robknoxious1

Personally I don’t compare the 3DS and Wii U because of the complete dominance that Nintendo has always enjoyed in the handheld space.

I ask how is it that MS and Sony fanboys forget the poor (XB360) and abysmal (PS3) launches and software line-ups their consoles had. Do people really have that short of a memory?

“Raise your hand if you’ve ever ended up losing money on an entire console generation…. Sony? Yes I see your hand. Microsoft? Yes there you are with hand held high. Ninten… oh wait, never mind… you’ve never done that.”

      • Magnus Eriksson

Wich console generation did Sony loose money at? PS1? no cannot be. It beat the crap out of N64. PS2? No not that one, best selling console ever. So you meen PS3? Eeeh, 77M and still competing with WiiU (actually slamming WiiU), and will continue to do so through WiiUs lifetime…

        • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Yea and it took more than 6 months for the PS3 to even be considered successful.

          • Robknoxious1

Six months? Sir you’re being way too generous. PS3 was a joke for the first couple of years at least at least as far a sales and profits – well lack of profits.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

That is my point and yes I was giving them the benefit of the doubt just like I am with Nintendo. Analysts and bloggers said the PS3 would fail and it would be Sony’s last console. They said Microsoft would never succeed in the console business. It is sad that people cannot see how these analysts and bloggers are wrong way more than they are correct but seem to take their word as golden.

I am a huge Nintendo fan and have been since I was a kid but Nintendo does need to step it up a notch and they are slowly doing that. Maybe too slow for some but I rather them do it right instead of doing it fast and rushing it.

          • Robknoxious1

I agree. I think Nintendo has probably turned it up a few notches actually but it will just take a bit to see the results. I think they’re doing what they can to “partner” with willing 3rd parties (forget about cry-baby EA) and seem to be aggressively going after indies to get as much decent software on Wii U as possible.

        • Robknoxious1

          Two things:
First – all the profit Sony made from their first two Playstation’s has been lost by the combination of the disastrous first few years of PS3 and the Vita. Look it up. In business that’s all that matters. Sony is hurting financially right now. Nintendo is sitting on a stockpile of billions because they’re fiscally conservative. Any recent losses on their part are dwarfed by Sony and MS game division losses over the last five years.

Second my main point that I lead off with was the comparison of launches. Neither the Xbox 360 or the PS3 launches were better than Wii U despite the comments of the Nintendoomers.

        • bizzy gie

You’re a complete moron. Even if the Wii U did compete with PS3 (wich it doesn’t Wii U is a next generation console), the PS3 has been on the market for almost a decade. The Wii U has been out for less than half of ONE year. How stupid are you?

The PS3 competes with the Wii. The Wii has sold over 100 million consoles. The Wii is actually “slamming” the PS3. When the PS4 and next Xbox launch, compare the sales to that. The Wii U is a next generation console which competes with the other two next generation consoles. Period.

        • NkoSekirei

ur a dumb@$$ dude wii u is far more powerful then ps3 and 360 u douche and by the way developers havent tapped the full power of the system yet and u say it will fail really go get a fking life

    • NkoSekirei

stupid troll go bang a cactus

    • jay

Nintendo/greedy? How the fuck did you put those 2 in one sentence???

  • AAAkabob

So….who’s the new president of Nintendo or is he assuming both rolesO_o?

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

      He’s assuming both roles.

      • AAAkabob

Lol! Yea there’s a great strategy; we didn’t sell enough with our past management so lets make it even more of the sameXd

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think I’d rather anyone above Iwata, but the logic is flawed. Then again they did go from over 416 million in losses to 70 million in profit, but I guarantee you won’t hear about that part.

    • Jonn McNally

This is an addition, not a transition, so the latter.

  • uPadWatcher

Congrats to Iwata for positioning as the new CEO of Nintendo of America!

    • Adam Porter

from head of the global company to head of a region is not a promotion

      • Nathaniel Lopez

Well I’m guessing he will still retain his former position as well…it didn’t say he was demoted, just that he was the new CEO. I think he just assumed the extra responsibility.

      • Kuzon

He is President of Nintendo. He is now also CEO of Nintendo of America. It doesn’t say he stepped down. And President and CEO are two different things.

      Lol…

      • uPadWatcher

It’s all good. We all make some errors sometimes.

  • Billy_Perry

This is very very good news.
Not only have Nintendo turned a profit, but they are also recognizing the importance of the western/America markets.
I’m currently studying business management at university, and I have to say, this is a fantastic move for Nintendo.

    • AAAkabob

I thought so too but they actually had an operating loss of over $350,000,000, they made investments and other non videogame related things to turn a profit.

  • Adam Porter

it seems iwata will be retaining his position but will be undertaking extra responsibilities aswell, or so IGN tells it.

    • jay

      Then edit your post:

“from head of the global company to head of a region is not a promotion”

Otherwise you’ll seem like a troll. just sayin’.

  • Super Buu

Recently, I was thinking about having a new CEO for NoA. Honestly, Reggie made some stupid decisions recently (I’m thinking of NoA not wanting to bring the OPRainfall games).
EDIT: Crap, that was a fail on my part. I thank sergio for correcting me politely.

    • Ray01x

Reggie is not the CEO of America he’s the President & COO of America. O_o
Kimishima was the CEO of America, now he’s been moved to the global managing director of Nintendo, based in its Kyoto headquarters.

    • Christian Schoff

Do you not read or something?

  • Yoshiwhirlwind

I hope this will translate into better club nintendo stuff for the US as well.

  • Link Slayer

Myamoto should take over CEO America!

    • uPadWatcher

      LOL!

  • JessieCatarsis

    :0

  • ejownz6

Hopefully this means more localization of hit Japanese games. I still can’t believe Ni No Kuni was not localized for the NA Nintedo DS. Game is doing very well on the PS3.

Nintendo should publish these games. Their seal of approval adds interest and if they choose only quality titles, the content itself will be a selling point as praise and high reviews will be free advertising for the games.

  • Ducked

    This is good…

  • scarlet

Wait, so what happened to Regi?

    • Adam Porter

reggie still has his position, it seems iwata has just taken on more responsibility in the american region, and will take a more active interest in what is going on in nintendo america, maybe like sorting out these crappy ads.

  • Squid

Iwata is the Japanese Nintendo president right?
Glad to see him here too now.

  • DragonSilths

Reggie and Iwata running NOA together is a good thing.

  • Scott McAllister

I believe Mr. Iwata has been DEMOTED …

  • jay
