EA Sports says it would develop for Wii U if it had the user base

Image converted using ifftoany

EA on the whole as a company has been very mouthy about the Wii U lately, yesterday announcing that the Frostbite 3 engine that powers 15 of its upcoming games is compatible with the Wii U, they just don’t want to spend the time to make sure it runs flawlessly on the system. Now, EA Sports boss Andrew Wilson decided to throw his hat into the ring, stating the Wii U install base is much too small to properly develop titles for at the moment.

“I build for a userbase. I made games on Facebook because I thought people were there that wanted to play them. Then it became apparent to me that either I had the wrong game or they weren’t there. We had a strong offering on Wii U at launch. The platform hasn’t had the take-up. Our games hasn’t had the take-up we’d have liked. So at this moment we are not focused there.”

It’s interesting to note that for EA it’s all about the install base and never once has an executive said, “We’ve supported Nintendo for years and will continue to do so as they work to build their growing install base.” You know, like Ubisoft did. It’ll be interesting to see the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch numbers and whether or not EA executives and figureheads are pleased with them when the consoles release this fall.

EA is going to lose its user base if it keeps this crap up

  • Matthew Wesley

Really, they’re making sports games for the xbox one and ps4, and they have an install base of zero. More EA bullshit.

    • DereX

The best selling Wii sports game of all time is Wii Sports and it isn’t made by EA. Nintendo cuts EA out of everything because they develop their own sports games like Strikers and Mario sluggers (which sell better than EA sports games)… Can you really blame EA for cutting out Nintendo now? They don’t have a reason so its kind of BS; however, my guess is that it is just a grudge.

      • Tecpedz94

As much as Wii Sports was fun it was a bundle so no kidding it was the most sold game…

        • DereX

All of the Mario sports games sold better than all of the EA sports games. I was just using the most popular example. Nintendo steps on EA toes when It comes to the best sports developer on Nintendo platforms. There probably isn’t much demand for EA games on the Wii U.

          • blindtiger

wii has a larger fan base than xbox or ps… but not both combined. ea can make one game that works easily on both xbox and ps. nintendo consoles require a scaling down of the games graphics and some creativity when it comes to gameplay and controls. ea puts all their money into developing ps/xbox versions (having the largest combined install base). every other version is an afterthought and it shows. they abuse their stranglehold on pro/ncaa licenses and just collect cash from other platforms. if the nfl/fifa/ncaa knows anything about videogames they should be pissed and pressure ea to use their licenses respectfully or drop ea’s exclusivity. but that will never happen because all that “businessmen” know is what it says in their business textbook and that cashflow is easier to manage than morality…

          • mikel334u2

“There probably isn’t much demand for EA games on the Wii U.”
If BF4 came to the Wii U, I’d get it….

          • LonDonE247

dito. i LOVE BATTLEFIELD 3, and have already got BF4 pre ordered alongside my sexy PS4, but if BF4 came to wii-u i would so buy it on wii u as well, mostly because i want to see what a graphically intensive game and engine will perform like on the wii u, and BF4 would be great for this, i also want to see how well the Nintendo network will perform when under stress, and since battlefield uses dedicated servers, it should be cool, shame crysis 3 got canned on wii u, even after crytek practically had it up and running and near enough finished!

Either way the problem with playing a game like cod or battlefield on wii u will be the online community, on psn even now BF3 and battlefield bad company 2 communities are very much still alive, on Nintendo network i doubt they online communities will last very long!

Regardless commander mode on the game pad would be so epic, as will controlling the numerous vehicles, and the mav drone when a recon, i was so disappointed with the news that bf4 would not be coming, with 1gb of ram, and a much better gpu, bf4 should be allot better on wii u then on ps3!
But then again frostbite is cpu intensive too, oh damn i would have loved to see how wii u pumps out BF4,or even BF3! If BF3 was released on wii u utilising the wii u strengths, and imagine if it was 60fps on wii u,and due to having double the ram of ps3, imagine if it had the bigger maps, or higher res textures, etc, i would so buy it again, just to see what its like, even though i have it on PS3 AND PC!

Or hell, give wii u owners bad company 2, optimised to run better with the more powerful gpgpu, and also to utilise all the 1gb of ram the wii u has, and include all the dlc for bad company 2, or just make it a e shop downloadable title, this would cost ea less, and be less risk, and would give Nintendo only gamers a chance to see what a battlefield game online is like, and if it sold well then build on it, and then maybe give us BF3, i would so buy either BF3 or bad company 2 again on wii u, if they included all the dlc, and had higher res textures, and ran better due to being optimized for the wii u gpgpu and 1gb of ram!!

          • 1239474899

How much of a life do you have to have time to write all that over a piece of plastic over the internet??? I didn’t read it nor anyone has so u just wasted or time

          • Andreas Sunde

How much of a life do you have to come to an article with the intention of talking negatively about a piece of plastic on the internet?

          • Andreas Sunde

There isn’t much demand for shitty ports and late ports pn the Wii U.

          • 1239474899

Yet I bet you bought monster hunter 3g, rehashed Mario, batman, ect

          • Andreas Sunde

I bought monster hunter 3U, because it’s a good game. I also bought it on my 3DS, for hunting on the go. I bought NSMBU because I didn’t buy NSMBWii. I haven’t purchased Batman, although I’m considering it, to check out the gamepad features.

          • 1239474899

But if ea had all their games on the Wii u and ubisoft didn’t you would be loving ea and saying their games are the best and hating on ubisoft, silly nintendrones lacking common knowlegde

          • Andreas Sunde

I hate EA for many reasons, so no.

        • Andreas Sunde

It was a bundle, but many people didn’t buy a Wii. They bought Wii Sports, and there happened to be a Wii in the box. So it deserves high numbers, although 90 million is a bit high.

        • NintenFan2013

It’s Makes perfect sense how nintendo dose not care what ea thinks they got the right 1st party ips on there consoles and handheld. But cant do it alone so thats why we have Activition and Ubisoft.
Plus, That new kick starter game will not be the only one on wii u there’s a lot coming:)
          Oh and HATERS GONNA HATE

      • TULFich

I enjoy better Mario Strikers, than FIFA, though it needs balance…

        • Fernando Garcia

I dunno about that, it’s somewhat delightful to play as Real Madrid…

          • TULFich

I know is my fav team, but I only play it when frieds come to play FIFA.

        • 1239474899

How you prefer Mario strikers over FIFA is beyond me I would understand pes over FIFA because that’s my preference too but Mario?? You casual.

          • TULFich

I don´t preffer it, I enjoy it better cuz it is funnier, FIFA is more competitive so I preffer playing it with Friends not solo unlike mario games. Besides I spend more time on HALO 4, so aint casual.

          • Squid

Why are you attacking anyone who compares Nintendo’s Sports games to realistic sports games? Just because I play Mario sure doesn’t mean their casual, it means I like games that call back to the retro times. And how does Fifa mean hardcore? Just because it looks realistic? If that’s the case please go play your Xbox on the XboxOnedaily.com

          • Dallas Gooch

He’s a troll that spends all of his time attacking anyone on every single post on this site. Best thing to do is ignore him.

      • Squid

I couldn’t agree more. I always prefer unrealistic sports over realistic. If I wanted realistic I’d just go play outside, you don’t need a Game for realistic sports.

        • 1239474899

Casual always comming up with excuses.

          • Squid

Say whatever you want, I prefer cartoon. Big deal.

        • Michael Jurado

I also prefer unreal sports games vs realistic ones same goes for shooting and racing games …. Look I’m a 90s kid if I want too shoot a realistic gun I go too a gun range if I want to drive a realistic vehicle I get in my car if I want a realistic sports game I go outside and toss a foot ball. When I play video games I like to be overwhelmed with the art work I like to be captivated with gameplay I could care less of the game looked as real as my hand

          • Squid

Thank you. I really agree, but I don’t have a car Or a license :P
But as I noticed games like Zelda and Metroid are looking more and more realistic. I only play what obviously can’t happen in real life.

        • Fernando Garcia

Your argument fails. Do you really think such gamers should attempt to join the New York Yankees or FC Barcelona? Not everyone can get into professional sports (I’m one of them), and so being able to play as these professional teams is a delight to these people.

      • 1239474899

If course you like Wii sports and Mario stickers you casual

    • The True Gamer

The install base is gamers who don’t obsess over Nintendo, and buy other game consoles.

      • Andreas Sunde

        I have a PS3, I have a Wii U, I have a 3DS, and I plan on getting a PS4 and a Vita. This doesn’t stop me from calling EA on their bullshit.

        • The True Gamer

Sorry. I thought you were one of those Nintendo fanboys. EA is bad though. I can’t even play Mirrors Edge time trials without using their broken online system.

        • Squid

          This^

      • Matthew Wesley

I’m simply recognizing reality. EA is full of it…. And Nintendo fans aren’t s gullible to fall for the 2 gimped games they released last year, and the 2 cannibalizing ports. Other gamers may want to buy EA’s crap franchises but I wont.

        • The True Gamer

You obviously haven’t played games like Mirrors edge and battlefield 3 and skate 3. Sure, ea is evil, but they have great games, and that’s why people buy their games

          • Matthew Wesley

Mirrors edge was nice, but ea didn’t support it. Battlefield feels identical to COD to me, and Skate wasn’t nearly as fun as tony hawk pro 3. EA takes good franchises (Dragon age, Mass Effect, Swotor, Jade Empire, Kingdoms of Amalur, Deadspace, Mirrors Edge and Brutal Legend) and either doesn’t support them or royally messes up the essence of what that franchise is. Don’t make the assumption that because I see EA for the garbage company it is that I haven’t in the past played their games. The games you mentioned were good when EA left the developer alone to make the damn game, but notice when the second iteration came around EA messed up the game. If you don’t believe me play Dragon Age 2, or Mass Effect 3. EA is a garbage company and I refuse to support them.

          • The True Gamer

Hey, EA is a terrible company, but I don’t plan on stop buying their games because their terrible policies. I hate them for everything they did to gamers. I started up Mirrors Edge and EA origin stopped working. For no reason at all, I could only access half of the game when I was online. If you played the games of EA before, you are entitled to your opinion, and sorry if I assumed you didn’t.

          • Matthew Wesley

This isn’t about policies, it’s about game quality. EA’s quality of product follows the law of diminishing returns perfectly. At the start; the games are good, but as time passes, the game quality of future iterations sucks. EA is the only video game company I know that does this, Nintendo doesn’t, Sega doesn’t, heck even 2k doesn’t. I refuse to pay money for shoddily made products because if I do, it encourages EA to continue not to put effort into making the game.

          • Squid

            This^

          • Matthew Wesley

You mean to tell me that releasing Mass effect 3 with no dlc except for the “enhanced” ending at full price, while at the same time releasing the complete trilogy for 60 dollars isn’t bullshit? Or releasing an optimized racing sim (NFS:MW) at full price with no dlc isn’t bullshit? Oh, I know, them releasing the madden game with no gamepad functions on an engine that was 5 years old isn’t bs? The actions that EA has perpetrated against wii u consumers leaves no doubt in my mind why most wii u owners aren’t buying their games.

          • The True Gamer

Ea is terrible okay. They just happen to have a few games.

          • 1239474899

Nintendo fans still bought it LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

          • Squid

Yeah? Does Wii U have that trilogy?
            No.

    • bizzy gie

Exactly. I’ve stated this a MILLION times before.

Nintendo is the ONLY company that’s platforms have to prove themselves through sales before it receives third party support.

PlayStation, Xbox, and PC could all have an install base of one each. They’d still receive more than triple the third party support of Wii U.

    • http://waluigi.com/ Waluigi

I’m the MKC (Mushroom Kingdom Champion)

      • Squid

I thought you where the alleyway champion. :P

    • SH*TBLOCK

      This is part of my quote I wrote for the other EA posting here the other day;

“This doesn’t really mean anything in the long run though because if the PS4 and Xbox1 sell like hot-cakes (which I don’t think they will sell that fast but will sell) EA doesn’t have to do or make anything for the U and can just smile and say to the public, “It’s just business people, we make games where we think our fans of them and gamer’s will want to buy them. Although we have always been a friend and fans of Nintendo we believe the lack of sales of the U has forced us not put our games on that console.” In essence still being able to PR while still being mad with Nintendo.

Say what you want good or bad about EA, they do have some great games on the U, Mass Effect 3, Madden 13, FIFA 13, and NFSMWU are beautiful and great games. Yes us U gamer’s will still be negatively impacted this year (which sucks) because not one EA title will be coming to us so they did stick the knife in Nintendo (mostly to its gamer’s) but because of the potential of the U selling more, both of their partnership’s with Disney, and above all else trying to get a better overall PR they’re trying to play nice with Nintendo so they are not twisting that knife.”

      It is true that 3rd party Devs have an excuse and that Nintendo has to prove themselves every time out like “Bizzy Gie” stated but the big thing here is that;
      1) EA is and has been butt-hurt about the issue with Nintendo stopping the partnership and that is why they have done this more so than a low install base for the U.

      2) Nintendo has shot themselves in the foot in the past with 3rd party Devs (back in PS1 and Xbox days) which has hurt them negatively now. Nintendo has relied on their own IP’s to make their consoles great (which they have done well) but over the years more and more great 3rd party companies have evolved and Nintendo needs to realize that gamer’s like to play all games not just theirs, So having these other game on their consoles will keep more gamer’s buying their consoles as well and probably having those same gamer’s buying other games for the U too.

      • Andreas Sunde

FIFA 13 was FIFA 12 in disquise, released a month after other systems. Madden 13 was Madden 12 undercover, released two months later. Mass Effect 3 was released at the same time as the trilogy on other systems, for the same price. And we got none of the DLC.
The only good port was NSFMWU, and that was also released months after the other systems.
If you wanted these games, you already had them. Unless you’re one of few people who had only a Wii last gen, and even then you could get both Madden and Fifa before they were released on Wii U.
And then they complain their games don’t sell.

    • Weraru

But…most people play sports games on PS3 and Xbox 360. Maybe they’ll carry over when they buy the new consoles. They’re still gonna want their sports games.

    • 1239474899

Actually ps4 an box one has more pre-orders than the Wii has an install base of now after 8 months of launching. The ps4 itself has more preoders the the Wii u installed base now imagine when it launches apart from PR orders and it being a holiday weekend it will be flying of the shelfs. Xbox one is a horrible system and its selling more than the Wii u

      • Andreas Sunde

Where do you get those numbers?

        • Michael Jurado

He is just trolling you cuz there is no way they could make more than 3mil ps4s and ship them around the planet in less than 4 months

        • Dallas Gooch

He doesn’t get them anywhere, he just wants to troll anyone who likes nintendo in anyway, regardless if you agree with him or not.

          • Andreas Sunde

So he pulls numbers out of his ass. Just as I thought.

      • Squid

Actually no. The Wii U pre orders were out all over my county. When the Wii U brings out more games, we’ll see what happens then.

  • The Clockwork Being

EA should shut up thats what they should do.

  • SuperAndroid66

Not bothered, EA sports make nothing I’d buy.

    • Fernando Garcia

      Why?

      • SuperAndroid66

I don’t like sports games. I know a lot of people do and that’s fine but I don’t.

        • Fernando Garcia

That’s too bad. I think you’re missing out, boy! What makes you dislike the games? What do you prefer?

  • audi lover

It has a bigger user base than xbox one and playstaion 4 idiots but yet your still releasing the usual crap on those machines, besides no one with intelligence even buys ea games shit sports, that are better played in the real world anyway, no user base cause no ones buying ea games hahah guys an idiot

  • The Clockwork Being

”We had a strong offering on Wii U at launch. ”

Ok here we go again. FIFA 13 was actually FIFA 12 undercover. Mass Effect 3 although a good game, we didnt get DLC, the game was already on the other platforms for while and the other platforms had the trilogy a price much better than the Wii U version of Mass Effect. Need For Speed Most wanted U wasnt at lauch but much later but it was a good game. Madden was released later and was played but everyone already so we had one good game which wasnt there at launch.

    • Ace J

dont forget that madden 13 for wii u was just madden 12 with a roster update. It didn’t even run the same engine that the ps3/360 version ran

      • The Clockwork Being

Are you SERIOUS i never knew that. EA just lost more of the respect I had for them. OH wait i didnt have any!

      • Matthew Wesley

People think us wii u owners are stupid; There’s nothing guaranteed to make me angrier than someone trying to play me like a fool. I’m not having it!

        • 1239474899

PLAY YOU LIKE A FOOL, yet you bought a Wii u LOLOLOLOOOLOOO

    • YayGs

Exactly the portion I was going to quote.
They line up was anything but strong. All were ports, and all had been released before they came to Wii U. Nothing new was offered to the table.

  • http://wiiudaily.com/ Monomon

    Nintendo won’t believe EA…ANYMORE!

  • Mark Thom

come on people buy the fucking WIIU

    • The Clockwork Being

I doubt that even if by this holiday season the sells pickup(they will obviously) and the Wii U userbase hits about 9 or more millions compared to 3 million right now and gets more then the PS4 and Xboxone this holiday season. Lets say 6-7 million for PS4 and 4 million for Xboxone, EA will just be saying that they have to build the instal base for the other consoles and those consoles need time.

      • Wayne Beck

That’s funny. 6-7 Million PS4 by the end of the year. 4 million XOnes. Never going to happen. They will be lucky to break 2 Million each. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have ever been able to make, let alone sell, 2 million Consoles at Launch.

        • Mark Thom

          TRUE

    • Nintyfan

      WiiUnite!

I guess you didn’t consider these factors:

        1. the economy

        2. most of the major titles will be on x360 (no need to upgrade)

        3. the non-existent market in japan for xbox consoles

        4. the PS4

        5. microsoft lost a lot of loyalists despite the DRM policy reversal

      • NkoSekirei

yea right bitch after wat happen to xboxone reveal it boosted the wii u sales and wii u will have better games under its belt before it even comes out so whos laughing now

  • Madmagican

Come on EA, no one plays sports games

  • D.M.T

EA is talking way too much. Just shut up about Wii U will ya?

Lets see what happens when Xbox One sells worse than Wii U did at launch. Are you gonna support them no matter what EA?

People: we wait to wii u has more games

      The sad truth.

    • Kuzon

      Here’s a better cycle

Third parties won’t develop for Wii U because
The consumer install base is low because
Wii U sales have slowed because
There is a lack of software because
third party developers won’t develop games for Wii U

      • NkoSekirei

thats about to change starting august with pikmin and splinter cell coming out that month then rayman hits in september and more games coming this fall

        • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s if they sell. No hate here, just a realist. Remember, most companies go by sales charts. While that shouldn’t really apply, however, that’s how business works. Ubisoft and some 3rd parties are the exception.

          • TULFich

I´ve seen MILFs playing Rayman on the Wii U in gamestores, it HAS to raise sales!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s where you’re at, and that doesn’t mean those people will buy it either. Lots of people try out games at kiosks.

For Nintendo’s sake, they better hope it does sell. If Rayman fails along with other third party games, then those developers will walk away and stick with their rivals.

          • TULFich

I´ll go more about publicity, here on city/country doesn´t have enough publicity to heat the console up, still, elitism in my city works wonders in terms of console sales, mom sees some good none gore games where she and her kids play, they buy it, and cuz nobody knows or has it, it lifts up to sell to popular people. So I have faith on the big N, as long as I´m alive

          • Amz Strange

You’re correct. To be fair to EA, after (the delayed, but still great) Need For Speed U tanking in terms of sales, EA have a somewhat valid reason to be cautious about further support.

However, I do think that if NFSMWU launched alongside the Xbox and PS3 versions it would have done better, it wasn’t a new game by the time it came out on Wii U, so the media buzz wasn’t there. Just like Mass Effect 3, in fact. So EA can be blamed for poor business decisions in that respect. Plus, those versions of FIFA and Madden were abysmal.

EA would have a had better argument if they had launched good ports of new games alongside the other console versions, but still didn’t sell well. Ports of old games are never going to sell in great numbers, it’s not surprising really, is it?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

They never really do. Problem is, if the new games don’t, Nintendo will be in trouble with the Wii U.

we have a wii u i no that they are 98 people that have a wii u and ea say their are no user base for the wii u then who are these 98 people then? if you look at mii on the wii u it looks more then 98 people on the wii u who are these miis then?

  • Ducked

Like it or not, sports games have never been popular on Nintendo consoles.

    • blindtiger

might change if we got a full version

      • Ducked

Might change too with FREE ONLINE GAMING

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Or if Nintendo decides to actually make their own. They used to and I thought it was a poor choice on their part.

  • CharmanderRulz

Even if EA sold just one game on Wii U that’s one more than the install base of both the Xbox 1 and PS4 combined right now. If you think you’re “strong offering” of support AKA outdated ports that run worse then the originals and have cut out features would sell better on platforms that aren’t out yet then start work on the PS8 or Dreamcast2.

  • XroyD

We don’t need shitty sports games here (only NHL and FIFA are good, Madden is decent)…

  • Fred

I have to argue with “noone plays sports games on Wii U” I bought NKA 2k13 on my Wii U and my wife and I love playing it. However, I will buy that not many people buy sports games on Wii U.

  • Christopher Acuna

I can’t help but laugh at these EA Vs. WiiU articles. Just a bunch of nonsense.

  • Frida Olsson

No thanks Wii U is for kiddies. yuck!

    • The Clockwork Being

Wow the trolls arrive early this morning

      • Frida Olsson

Can’t help myself, Nintendo’s cult-like fanbase creeps me out ;p

        • XroyD

          hahahahahaha, sony pony!!!

          • Frida Olsson

When it comes to gaming,I support Apple,Sony and Microsoft because they, have always given their consumers a first class services and products. and i love them so much..now as for Nintendo they’re too outdated/out of touch with gamers.

          • XroyD

hahahahahahahahah, so you are an xbot, sony drone and support a little fruit… 1st class service??? LOL, Nintendo outdated?? Creating some of the best games of recent years (Super Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword) is something outdated? Experimenting and creating new ways to play (Gamepad)? Get out and praise your preferred ”systems” on other site… hahahahahahahahahahaha

Edit; Oh, and Apple in gaming? hahahaha don’t get me started!

          • The True Gamer

Nintendo is considered outdated recently because it isn’t on the same level as other consoles. The scale of Super Mario Galaxy isn’t close to the size of games like Forza Horizon. Nintendo games haven’t changed themselves except for how you play them. Other than that, it’s very much non-innovative.

          • XroyD

Well, YOU consider it outdated. Same level??? You ”gamers” only think about specs and graphics and power and all of that BS. Non-innovative??? Tell me what Sony studios have been doing recently or microsoft’s? Super Mario Galaxy is huge compared to Forza (i’ve played almost everyone of them). So you think that creating new ways to play instead of playing with the same standard controller is outdated well, that’s just your opinion.

          • The True Gamer

Us “gamers” think about games, and whether you agree or not, Nintendo games are pretty small. Forza Horizon is pretty massive. Anybody that plays that can’t argue that. A new controller isn’t necessary every generation. All I wanted to do was play Mario galaxy with a 360 controller. The gamepad took notes from other companies. The Wii only benefited Nintendo, and made other third party games nearly unplayable.

          • XroyD

Nintendo games are big. I don’t know what games are you talking about. Forza is Microsofts respond to Gran Turismo. I don’t know but Mario Galaxy with wiimote and nunchuck felt perfect for me.

          • The True Gamer

Donkey Kong Country Returns was just a small game in my opinion. Forza Horizon was not a response to Gran Turismo. It was an open world racing game. I’m just saying that hardware limitations for the Wii limited all of the games potential. Smash Bros. Brawl was massive, but the Mario games are not as big as fallout or halo, but about the size of an Xbox live arcade game like trials evolution

          • XroyD

I prefer quality over size. Remember, Fallout is very different from Mario and Donkey Kong.

          • The True Gamer

Fallout is great because of the size and quality. While there is errors at times, the amount of quests makes those games great. While Mario is great, and the best platformer around, some games need a large amount of challenges. A system of unlockables is what Nintendo needs in its games. New Super Mario Bros. for DS had a great system for unlocking menus. I wonder why Nintendo’s getting rid of the unlockables in their games.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Brawl also I believe is the only game that had to use a dual-layer disc due to low space on a standard dvd .

          • The True Gamer

Brawl had a very large adventure mode, and was a pretty large game by any standard.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

For a Wii game, yeah, it was large.

          • Marcus Henne

Take pity on her, she’s only 18, maybe she doesn’t know better, or hasn’t played any Nintendo games =D

          • Guest

            You just pissed me off.

          • Pinwheel

Don’t be pissed off. That’s her intention, to annoy you. You’re just admitting defeat to some illiterate halfwit

          • The True Gamer

People aren’t illiterate just because they have different views than you.

          • Ace J

            “his”

          • NkoSekirei

            lol

          • Nintyfan

Learn to love the classics you inconsiderate person.

          • XroyD

Yeah, they play games for graphics like it was a movie…

          • The True Gamer

People don’t play games for graphics. They play them because their fun. It just seems as though Nintendo wanted to wait to start having to use effort to make their games compete in a graphical scale. In size, Nintendo games are far smaller than many third party Xbox and PS3 games. If you don’t believe me, you don’t own either of those consoles.

          • XroyD

I’ve played almost every console in existence (NES, SNES, N64, All Gameboys, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3, 360, Wii/U, Gamecube, etc) Have you played a Zelda game? I don’t think so. Have you played a Super Smash Bros. game… I don’t think so. So if you are going to talk about a console, you have to experience everything that has to offer.

          • The True Gamer

I have played both series. I hate Zelda except for the first NeS one. Smash Bros is incredible, and Sony showed with Ps all stars that only Nintendo can do that right. Nintendo has its place in the gaming community. It just so happens that gamers have to buy both a Wii U and another console.

          • XroyD

Wii U and Ps4 for me.

          • Ace J

            same here bro

          • david jarman

Then why is it so important?
Most mainstream gamers, if you took that away they would be upset.
Do you think people would be just as excited as they are now about the new console if the graphics were just the same as last gen the only difference would be the newer games would be on the newer systems?
I respect your opinion. I believe you and I play games for fun, but sometimes graphics help.

          • The True Gamer

Graphics immerse gamers in worlds. Sure, most “mainstream gamers” don’t care about games being art, with level design, and challenges, but then again, most mainstream gamers don’t hear about new games coming out until they see an ad for it online. Mainstream gamers barely want to buy game consoles now because they cost them money and don’t make a massive leap in graphics. Mainstream gamers are people who could care less about any game that isn’t talked about all the time, and the kind of gamers that make all other gamers look bad,

          • david jarman

For me one of the biggest thing for me in certain types of games is atmosphere and for me that’s were the art of design and writing come into play. I guess that’s why I was fond of metroid prime. That’s why I pledged for games like Shadows of the Eternals. Believe it or not I absolutely loved the atmosphere in luigi’s mansion, mario sunshine, Zelda:ocarina of time, gears of war, halo, resident evil 1 and the remake, metal gear, metal gear solid, FFVII, xenogears, xenoblade, the last story and earthbound. I could go on forever. Dang where was I going with this? Lol! I just took a quick trip down memory lane.

          • The True Gamer

I think that graphics can ruin a game. Take Pokemon X and Y. I wish Nintendo would stick with pixels, but they went to polygons. Maybe that’s a good lesson people should learn. Nintendo changed with 3D world, people got angry. I’m sure a 2D Mario game that changes the formula will make the same people that complained about little change angry still. If the world didn’t focus on graphics as much, maybe more (and better) games could be made.

          • david jarman

Yes, that’s true. However, I did like Pokemon colosseum.
I still wish companies would do what they use to and develope games tailored to each consoles strengths.

          • The True Gamer

Oh yes…I remember well…why hasn’t Nintendo announced a new Pokemon game like that for Wii U?

          • Ace J

microsoft first class products??!! your comment is bullshit. if they did have first class products, then why do i have 2 broken xbox 360s sitting in my closet right now. You obviously like nintendo because your here. just cut the crap bro. its just makes you look sad man

          • The True Gamer

I like Nintendo, but I don’t like the Wii U. Microsoft has an online community with cross game chat…that’s more than PS3 and Wii U can say

          • Ace J

what use is cross game chat on a broken system?

          • The True Gamer

You obviously don’t have a 360, so don’t talk about game consoles you haven’t tried. It’s more reliable for any online service than my Ps3 ever was.

          • Ace J

oh shit someone is butthurt now!!!!!!

calm down i have all the consoles. Like i said, what use is cross game chat to me on MY 2 broken 360s? so what the fuck are you getting mad at me for because MY 360s broke? You should be mad at M$…

          • The True Gamer

Ps3 doesn’t have cross game chat. And most people hate 360 because of system failures early in its lifetime, but after those years, Xbox is insanely reliable. As for the ps3, you don’t own one if you think that has cross game chat.

          • Ace J

my bad i meant ps vita, huge error on my part. and i do have a ps3, how else would i be playing The Last if Us???

          • The True Gamer

I understand. Is last of us good? I heard mixed things about it.

          • Ace J

i like it. depending on how you play it it feels more like a stealth game, sorta. but the online gameplay is alot better then i gave it credit for

          • The True Gamer

That’s good. Im glad Naughty dog is still well respected.

          • Ace J

and iam playing RE2 on psn

          • Andrew

            okay, give one example.

          • Adrian

What it comes to gaming, I support all that produce high quality fun for a reasonable price.

          • david jarman

You talk about kiddie games yet you’re acting childish by attacking a fan site. You call nintendo cult-like when every console has a fanbase.
Lets see Microsoft Xbox wouldn’t acknowledge the red ring of death at first until people formed a lawsuit and ps3 had the yellow ring and was downscaling. Xbox 360 didn’t have a single that said next gen til a year later. Ps3 had issue with diodes and there was a shortage of them not to mention it cost $700 dollars when it first launch. Now the ps4 had its controller working around the camera and a lot of developers had designed that into these early launch games so now your controller is %50 useless unless you purchase the camera. Not to mention gddr5 has a huge latency issue, but that’s ok cause in house developers can fix that in the software, but multi ports who knows?
Bottom line I’ve had less issues with my wii u at launch then I did with my other consoles especially the Xbox.
The wonderful 101, pikmin 3, bayonetta, x and mario kart all look amazing and are on par with the graphics department 1080p 60 fps . Not to mention I have had less bugs with nintendo games. Xbox 360 and ps3 always need patch updates!!!!

          • david jarman

Oh and grow up kid! Shouldn’t you be working at Macy’s.

          • The True Gamer

The ps3 cost $599. And xbox 360 and ps3 games need patches because they are much larger in scale.

          • david jarman

I’m talking about patches for like bugs and errors. A rush game is rush game no matter what size. Dragons flying backwards, textures being muddy to the point they look like ps2 graphics(blops2) fixed with update. They have patches to fix glitches. Some are excusable, most aren’t.
My point was with her is that everybody has issues.
Plus, she’s not here to have a rational debate. She’s always here to troll.
$699 was a bundle priced at Costco.
As much as I loved my Xbox. i had few die on me a few times and I baby my consoles.

          • The True Gamer

Yeah..I see where your coming from. Nintendo actually has very few errors in their games, and they have very good quality that doesn’t ever need an update. She is a troll, and I especially hate trolls messing with people on forums. Hopefully trolls realize that they do nothing to help anybody.

          • Marcus Henne

Nintendo outdated/out of touch? I think not. I see you’re only 18, you have a lot to learn, little girl. I don’t mind Sony/M$, but to me they have no soul.

        • Pinwheel

You’re just as bad for moaning about other platforms. The fact that you feel the need to do that creeps me out. :) What a waste of time, find somthing better to do.

          • Frida Olsson

Sorry for creeping you out ):

        • Luna Moonfang

I was looking at who upvoted your comments, and then i laughed really out loud.

        • david jarman

You seem infatuated with us, so what does that say about you?

        • NkoSekirei

the only thing that creeps me out is a troll that bitches with no facts and no respect to others

    • Guest

      Go home xbot, you’re drunk

    • NkoSekirei

      gtfo troll

  • Pinwheel

EA just stick to developing for Watercoolers instead. lol.

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

      Ooh burn.

    • NkoSekirei

now thats funny and maybe add cleaning dirty toilets along with that too

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        That’s reserved for Don Mattrick.

  • ElCharlo

That makes sense, its better to develop for 2 consoles that have NO INSTALL BASE than the one of the WiiU. And don´t get me started by the fact that all their games where 1 year old versions or stripped down… Because yeah, the install base of the WiiU never bought a console the past generation.

Also what PR practice is it to tell that the WiiU couldn´t run the engine you plan to use for ALL your games. Thats great, that surely will help to grow the focus group in that console.

    • The True Gamer

It’s pretty safe to assume all 360 and Ps3 fans will move to Xbox One and PS4 sooner or later

      • ElCharlo

At least don´t expect a high install base on the first year

Plus Nintendo could have said the same with the smash hit that was the Wii but they are having difficult times right now and its their own fault.

And we could say the same about MS even after the 180º of their policies and now with Ballmer taking direct control over the XBox division to make damage control. Its not a safe bet to say that the Xbox One will be a hit.

      • Andreas Sunde

Most likely later. Systems sell best towards the end of their lifetime. Hell, the PS2 even outsold the PS3 during the first four weeks the PS3 was out.

  • Sora Morp

go home EA. Xbox one is being craaped on so what makes you think wiiu will be worse

  • Doctors Tardis

Their offering at launch for Wii U wasn’t strong. They weren’t well developed and I was waiting for a future release to purchase one of their sports titles.

  • therealruben1

whatever ill just wait for wii sports u

  • david jarman

Have they tried making games that shined on the console and not this water down port with no support. Plus they just simply lied about madden.

  • Mark

You know why I hate sports games? I hate them because if a person wants to play a sport, THEY COULD GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY THE DAMN GAME!

    • Andreas Sunde

      2:50

    • The True Gamer

Not really. Madden might be a little challenging to play in a back yard with one to two people.

    • $39063977

ok. you must be a very active athlete. i see you play soccer, basketball, tennis, rugby, golf + you have an active team for each one and a bunch of other teams to compete with. and they are all pros. damn. who the hell are you? even Messi enjoys a fifa game now and then…and he is in the field 365 days a year.

      • oontz

        You forgot UFC and Skate

        • $39063977

Indeed. The guy’s a super hero. period.

      • Mark

Don’t take this so seriously, god. I have to admit, I was exaggerating, but I still don’t like sport games; you ask who am I? I’m just a person voicing out his opinion. Look, if you like sports games and if other people like sports games, that’s fine, I hold no grudge. Take this as an apology.

P.S: why were you being so nasty; I’m just one guy out of 7 billion people in the world. There is absolutely no reason to be so annoyed.

        • $39063977

hehe sorry if i sounded too bad. nothing personal. i was merely trying to spice up your comment. my apologies.

  • $39063977

Of course it’s all about the install base. Why would any company want to incur the costs to produce a game on a console that has no substantial user base to bring back revenues?! Reality alert: not everyone is obsessed with Nintendo as most people are on this blog (especially the writers). Business 101: Companies can only be functional when they can cover their costs, make profits, and reinvest.

The Wii u needs a new manager to take some risks, pump up its development, and increase the damned user base. Then everyone will produce for it. Instead, Nintendo has a stubborn, backward looking, conservative team of CEOS. too bad.

    • ElCharlo

Reality check, there is no install base on PS4 or XB1

      • $39063977

it’s almost guaranteed that there will be huge install bases for both systems. more so for PS4, as it looks. already pre orders are piling.

        • ElCharlo

Thats only an estimation and it won’t exist at start, and not for a long time.

And those estimations come from the same people that thought that importing 1 year old games with less features to a new console and charge full price was a good idea and would push new consoles sales.

It is almost guaranteed that in maybe 2 years the install base will be huge and 3rd party won’t b* about it.

          • $39063977

approximations will stop being approximations once those consoles are eventually released. until then you can close your mind and keep on arguing that the PS4 and XBOX1 won’t sell and any company investing on them is making a mistake. but how much error margin do you give to an approximation? 5%? 10%?

p.s. a million PS4 users has a different demographic from a million Wii u users. think about that too.

          • oontz

Exactly wii/wiiu users on average ONLY buy Nintendo software, all other developers for the platform are left looking for scraps. Where as on the other systems everyone buys a bit of everything. PS3 owners, don’t JUST buy sony games and Xbox360 owners DON’T just by MS games. But Nintendo owners… usual ONLY buy Nintendo games.

          • $39063977

yes, and largely the reason for it was that up until now (at least s far as this gen is concerned) Nintendo had a huge gap in technology from the rest (in one way or another). the wii couldn’t handle HD and only had a meazy 88MB RAM. hence lost all major productions of 3rd party games. hence was utterly marginalised in the market – you either had it and played kids games and some past-gen looking Nintendo franchise or small-budget 3rd party (not saying they were bad, but definitely gc style looking) or had it and kept it in the closet.

this gen Nintendo decided to go with HD, and that gave a few hopes that 3rd party support would creep back onto the system. however, those few hopefull souls neglected that the other consoles would also make a huge leap in their tech (10x the RAM, ~3x the processors) and will drive the next gen developments. hence BigN’s on the margin once again.

it is a curse cast by Nintendo itself that its systems will only handle Nintendo games. to them that’s ok. they should have been more open about it though. say it outright – don’t come out and say we are getting back 3rd party support and have a 3rd party game right next to your system’s launch to re-enforce that claim. before and during launch the focus was all about how they are planning to win 3rd party support with their “revolutionary” and powerful system. well, gues what? time always shows in this business. Nintendo is back to square one – them and them alone (as far as development goes). I am happy with that, but I have no respect to dishonest people.

        • Leo

In 1996 nobody could have ever imagined that Nintendo would lose the battle to Sony and nobody could ever predict Sega leaving the hardware market in just a few years. Also how anyone could have guaranteed the Wii sucess? Or how Microsoft would fail miserably with the XBox One presentation?

The market it’s not that easy to follow and EA is playing with fire by dismissing a console right at the start by risking all their chances on estimations based on… their ass.

          • $39063977

            > The market it’s not that easy to follow and EA is playing with
            > fire by dismissing a console right at the start by risking all
            > their chances on estimations based on… their ass.

i find it funny that someone insists on knowing more than a multi national multi million company that has been in business for over 30 years. one of the most successful companies in the video game industry.

          • NkoSekirei

wen they play with fire they ll end up burning their @$$

          • Leo

Judging by their recent behavior in the industry they should know way better. Just saying.

And you are the one talking about “guarantee” here. Not me. So i guess you are addressing “knowing more” to yourself.

        • ElCharlo

Jess, if what you say is correct 3rd parties would release their games only on the next generation consoles to take advantage of all the benefits of the new hardware.

But the reality is this http://www.gamespot.com/news/idc-next-gen-consoles-wont-match-current-gen-sales-6408633

Name me an AAA game from the E3 that is 3rd party and will only be released on the next generation of consoles

          • $39063977

not at all. precisely the opposite. how did you draw that conclusion from what i said?

            just one game? The Division

          • ElCharlo

Ahh good Ubisoft, that brought us also ZombieU as an exclusive and almos Rayman.

Still is just one game and its available in Xbox One, Playstation 4, Wii U, PC and Mac. Not exactly an exclusive to the new generation

          • $39063977

man, do your hw. the division is strictly next gen. no wii u release. so is bf4, mgs, titans, etc.

          • The True Gamer

Star Wars battlefront, mirrors edge, Ryse, and sunset overdrive

          • ElCharlo

True but none of those games will be in the launch window and the ones that are, Ryse and Sunset Overdrive, are 2nd party as they are published by MS.

Is MS or Sony the ones placing money for selling consoles, but there aren´t 3rd party games exclusive for next gen right now. At least not in the inmediate future

          • The True Gamer

The reason I named those games is because they will be games that take advantage if the new hardware, and won’t run on Wii U because of hardware issues. It’s not a massive issue for Nintendo gamers, but those games will be pretty massive for Xbox and PlayStation gamers

  • http://www.w-o-n.org/ GoldDreams

No loss. You can’t get any more lame than Sports games.

    • Andreas Sunde

The most fun I ever had with Fifa, was playing as Manchester United and purposely get them as many cards as possible.
Oh, and that time I played Fifa 09 for the first time, on the wii. I won 27 matches in a row, in one sitting.
      Sports games are lame.

    • The True Gamer

      Sonic Tennis is pretty lame

    • Fernando Garcia

Why don’t you like sports games?

  • IncubatedDucks

I’m not asking for the Wii U to be more successful than the Xbox One or the PS4. I just wish it gets the certain respect it needs. Hopefully sales can turn around. Speaking of which, I really need to go out and buy a Wii U! I’m saving up for a $500 Laptop first though. Sorry :’(

  • Robert

When EA is ready to develop for Wii U as the userbase grows, I’ll be there ready to NOT buy any of their games. F***K EA!!!!

  • MrTravan

Wii U users don’t play sports games because nobody makes them for the Wii U. That’s the truth.

    • MississaugaMaverick

      very true

    • The True Gamer

      IMPOSSIBLE!!!

  • Kyle Signs

EA, please take your crappy SimCity your crappy SWTOR your money-grabbing Madden and your horribly produced micro-transation want to be indie games and get them the hell away from Nintendo. I’ve played almost 500 hours on NBA2K’s Wii U iteration, Y? Because it wasn’t a product made last year only to be cloned and sold again. It did what it said it was going to. Beside Mass Effect (an IP that you never would have published if not for it’s great 360 sales) you truly have nothing else I want. Thank you for raping me of my money on so many occasions, will you now please shut up.

    • Kyle Signs

P.S. A “Strong Showing” on a launch console is not three ports of games most core gamers have already played.

  • Joshua Rosario

This is like other developers not supporting EA’s origin because it doesn’t have an install base. When a new system of gaming comes out, it needs developer support for it to grow. This is crap. EA could have success in the market if it actually gave the Wii U a rightful chance, which it has failed to.

  • Jack5221

Who cares about EA? Everything they make is incomplete DLC crap.

    • The True Gamer

Battlefield 3, Mirrors Edge, and Skate 3 were great games.

      • Marcus Henne

Battlefield 3=Another run of the mill shooter, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!

        • The True Gamer

Okay, so Battlefield 3 was OKAY. Great was an over statement.

      • Andreas Sunde

Mirrors Edge was released in 2008. EA was better then, although declining.
But they’re making ME2, and Star Wars. So I can’t justify to myself boycotting them anymore…

  • Extra Vinegary

Stop posting EA articles, no one cares. Let’s see what happens when the PS4 and Xbone come out and the install base is “not their” right away, will they stop making games for those platforms too? The PS3 had a very slow launch and EA never stopped making games for them. Just shutup EA, go away.

    • The True Gamer

XBONE ONLY REFERS TO XBOX ONE BEFORE THE DRM POLICY REVERSAL. IT’S CALLED XBOX 180 NOW

  • joey t

How are they upset about their launch window games not helping to create a user base or not selling well when they half assed the games by not including all features etc. I’m sure a lot of people that had a Wii U and wanted one of their games, bought it for another console to access all the features.

  • Mad Scientist Link

I have to take EA side for this actually. Never had i heard before i can’t wait to get Madden or fifa on wii before so they have the right to take a step back. As for games like battlefield or mass effect those will always sell no matter what system

    • YayGs

I’ve never heard “I can’t wait for Madden” period. The people who buy those games probably buy them every year or every other year so chances are by the time Madden and FIFA came to Wii U they already had it.

  • YayGs

I just want Tiger Woods. Sadly, golf is my favorite sports game.

It’s also worth noting that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, 11, and 12 all have higher ratings on Wii than any other TIger Woods games on Xbox 360 and PS3, but that can just be ignored right EA?

  • Shaise

Oh no! When they said FB3 is compatible my thoughts of hate silenced to hear if they would actually run the engine on the Wii U, but now this!!!! I thought there would be a chance for my hate to stop, but now its definite that the hate will carry on!!!!!!

  • Shaise

EA might end up like THQ, which is a shame really, I liked THQ, they were my childhood in gaming, until they said something about the Wii U’s CPU, they got bankrupted & just finished. Now, EA’s online system sucks, they have very lazy developers who cant even do extra work to release onto another console, and most people are now likely to skip there sports games. So EA is the dead of the future

    • The True Gamer

Ea has battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront though. EA was evil, but I believe after their management changed they are much better. They got rid of online passes at least, so I can actually play what I deserved to own when I bought skate3.

  • AlThor

I’ve heard it’s all a feud between Ninty and EA over setting up network play. Something about project “Origin” or something. I forgot where I heard that though lol

    • Andreas Sunde

EA apparently wanted to run Nintendos entire online infrastucture through origin, which is their online pc store. It sucks, and Nintendo didn’t want to give that much power to a third party. This made EA butthurt, and went on to spout more bullshit.

      • NkoSekirei

EA are such diks seriously they wouldnt stop throwing a tantrum over it

      • AlThor

Just my weak attempt at humor. Heard it mentioned in GameFans podcast #5/ now on iTunes!

  • Michael Jurado

oh pshhh Nintendo has the wii fit trainer that’s all the sports we need

  • Michael Jurado

“I build for a userbase. I made games on Facebook because I thought people were there that wanted to play them. Then it became apparent to me that either I had the wrong game or they weren’t there. We had a strong offering on Wii U at launc”

someone please correct me if i’m wrong … weren’t the “strong offerings” just a bunch of ports of already exsistening games on the 360/ps3 so they could make a quick buck??

    • graysongrayson

love this part, “when it became apparent to me that either I had the wrong game or they weren’t there.” Well there are a billion people on facebook. that sounds like present users. so i guess your games just suck, EA.

      • Michael Jurado

Exactly and I don’t care if EA gets smaller companies to work for them all that means is that they’ll be killing franchises and making even more crap … Everyone says Nintendo needs to give Mario a break, for what??? So the gaming industry spirals into death again????

  • Jeovany

    Didn’t we already know this

  • graysongrayson

once SSB and MK8 come out, the system will be just dandy. that’s why i’m going to buy one, eventually, might even wait till black friday, but regardless, i’m getting one. there just hasn’t been a big enough title to entice me to put money in the console.

also, sales pitch: Pokemon U – it plays and looks like final fantasy XIII, the game pad acts like the pokegear. all regions end up being playable. HOW EPIC WOULD THAT BE!?

  • fireheartis1

It sucks that UFC partnered with EA man. That’s the only sport’s game I really care about, and EA wont bring it to my console of choice. I will have to go to my brother’s house to play it on his PS3 now. Oh well at least I’ll get to play it. EA sucks at sports games anyways, and I hope they don’t screw up the UFC game for real.

  • ICHI

EA suck a bit yes; but a few years back they bought out exciting developers like criterion, gave them blank canvases and actually put out new IP’s like Dead Space, which was a big risk! They also did support the original Wii quite well for the first few years and brought some great ideas like Boom Blox to the table, did anyone buy it? no, are they right to be warey? probably.
I think there has been some internal dispute over the online which probably drove initial properties like battlefield which rely heavily on online gameplay to be excused as though that would back Nintendo in a corner. On the other hand though I think it’s quite telling that EA and now Ubisoft are talking about putting focus on PS4 and Xbone and their money is so thin they can’t help a fledgling console. As I voiced, at great length when the Wii U was released, I felt the console would become home of the indy or small eastern developers who couldn’t keep up with the hardware arms race effecting rising software development costs, pushing so many out of the fight to begin with or putting many companies under completely (shit we’ve lost lots of great developers on current 7 year old hardware in the last couple of years). Sony are obviously doing something to help the PS4 in this space but the XBOX isn’t; and when there is such a massive monetary involvement in launching these consoles to the point where two of the biggest software publishers in the world are worried about spreading their money too thin, there’s something wrong with the state of the games industry.
I’m still happy with my Wii U, Nintendo isn’t infallible in how they have dealt with it’s launch but then what company is. I’m convinced that either Xbone and PS4 are going to get XBOX360, PS3 or slightly outdated PC engine based games from smaller developers due to costs in making or licencing new engines that take advantage of the hardware, or that there will be such a push from Sony and MS to make software for their new machines (kind of like sony did with Vita) that so many dev’s wont keep up or downsize so much to keep playing in the console space their only option will be to release XBLA sized games. Either way, Nintendo is primed to take advantage of this situation where people are struggling to find a home for their new vision, Nintendo may even spend a lot of their profits from Wii buying up shares in these companies to guarantee they find a home for these games. I can’t see platinum ever keeping up to be honest I’m a bit skeptical SEGA can keep up at the minute! One wrong move or poorly sold game could spell doom for some of the companies we have all grown up with, this generation is going to be a good one but probably a game changing one too. I doubt that I’ll find much innovation in the big named releases for PS4 or Xbone over the next couple of years just so people can keep their heads above water, but that is often the case with a new gen and we are coming off the back of being pretty spoilt for great games over the last 7 years. Who do you think can maximize the worlds and games economic state and why?

    • ICHI

Jesus that was a big post jesus that was a big post!

  • ExtremeAzure98

Yes, yes, yes EA – we know.

Fifa 13 ~ A quick and dirty port, with only a roster update. Barely any nice use of the Gamepad.

Madden 13 – Had some bugs and was already avaliable on other platforms.

    Then the other ports…

Mass Effect 3 – Released at full price with no future DLC, and other systems got the full trilogy for the same price.

Need for Speed Most Wanted U – One of the best ports ever created – but just came much too late…

    =================================================================

..I don’t know how EA could expect to get a truckload of sales when they were virtually playing against themselves. Yet here they are showing all of this enthusiasm for consoles with a user base of 0. Of course each of those systems have promise; still – ignoring the U isn’t going to make it’s user base magically increase.

I know why developers are ignoring the console – it’s not selling. Okay, fine. How do you get the thing selling? Make quality, eye-catching games. Ignoring it isn’t going to just fix the problem. Yes, technically, it’s Nintendo’s mission to get interest spurring in the system – but having 3rd-party support to accompany that would be nice, don’t ya think?

Oi… And the circle trap continues:

Wii U isn’t getting any third-party support because

    Consumers aren’t buying the system

Because there aren’t any new games.

    …And again

    …And again

    …And again

  • Aleks

We appreciate the support in ACTUALLY HELPING to build a base. You want to wait around until theres 10 million suckers to feed you cash without effort or risk? F.U.E.A. You’ve revealed (again) what an offensive company you are. No precious $ for you, from me.

  • Joyous Killer

Why can’t EA just die off…..

  • Krzysztof

Honestly, at this point, wii u users are so hungry of new games that if one of these “super publishers” release one of their AAA titles on this platform, it’d sell bucket loads. Especially if Wii U version would contain some unique features available only on this platform. That’s why ubisoft will keep making money here, because it’s one of the few.

  • Sidney Majurie

So because Madden and Fifa didn’t sell on Wii U after having released on other consoles 3 months earlier, means there’s no market?? Do they not realize most Wii U owners have A PS3 or 360 like me and didn’t want to wait? What reason should I have waited for the gimped Madden Wii U port? ”

Sorry guys FIFA 12 and Madden 12( cause let’s be honest, that’s all they were) didn’t sell on Wii U after coming out 3 months into the season so let’s close up shop.”

    More EA BS.

    • ElCharlo

plus they didn’t bring the latest features of 2012

  • Christopher Westcott

It seems short sighted to me to expect a huge user base at the exact beginning of a launch window…

  • Smartass2

No ones buying because your games suck.

    • The True Gamer

No, mirrors edge, battlefield 3, and skate 3 don’t.

  • Dez

EA has never made a game that runs smoothly on anything. They don’t want to waste the money to make a polished game, they rather release half-baked piece of shit and charge full price with fixes in the terms of DLC/expansions. A polished turd is still a turd, after all.

If anyone is pleased with an EA game, something is wrong with them. EA has always been very biased about whom they support primarily why they keep riding Micro$oft hype train since they know their greedy is overwhelming. Can you stop reporting on EA though? I mean, seriously there is some article on EA daily, and all of it is just their executives talking in circles and whining like children.

    • The True Gamer

You obviously haven’t played Battlefield 3 or Mirrors edge or Skate 3.

      • ICHI

        Or burnout paradise :-)

  • discuss

    Would not buy.

  • Kmac

    Good job Nintendo

    • oontz

oh… I see what you did there.

  • Møhåmmęd Jårmøn

When the X1 and Ps4 launch and don’t sell we’ll after the first 45 days we will see what bullshit excuse EA has then.

    • The True Gamer

Considering that Xbox and Ps4 has fans, it will have sales

      • Møhåmmęd Jårmøn

They still won’t outsell Wiiu in the first 45 days. I know they have fans but Nintendo has more

  • Squid

    Eh. I wouldn’t play it anyways…

  • firstinflight

I’d consider buying EA Sports games on Wii U if the EA Sports games on Wii U were actually any good. They generally aren’t good quality.

  • Justin Gray

Look on Amazon at the demand for EA Golf games on the original Wii. The games are priced at two and three times what the PS3 and 360 games are priced at with hardly any left in stock. I see people on here saying that people mostly play sports games on other platform but I would have bought EA NHL over 2K a couple years had it been available on Wii. Lack of HD graphics is the only thing that held back that system and now that lack is gone. A great golf game on the WiiU would be a sure purchase for me.

  • killer of bull shit uk

Sorry EA BUT XBOBE AND PS4 DONT HAVE A USERBASE

    Exposed again EA

  • killer of bull shit uk

THERES PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD SIDING WITH EA DO YOU ALSO SIDE WITH PEOPHILES

    • oontz

      It’s “their” not “there”

      idiot!

  • GeekDaddy

If they made Sports games that weren’t watered down crap versions (Madden 13 was running a subpar engine compared to the xbox and ps3)

Dear EA, you are a Shit company.
Make a game on the system that doesn’t suck and I will buy it. Don’t expect me to buy a copy of a game that just contains your programmers farting on a snare drum.

  • Link Slayer

I think xbox one wont do very good unless they do something even more drastic than there drm reversal. I believe It will be Sony and Nintendo left. Sony will have the nice hardcore First party games plus the Third Party support and Nintendo will survive for there First Party games and some of there exclusive 3rd party games like the Xenoblade type game and a few more.

  • Link Slayer

Xbox One is just to high priced. I mean you can get a high powered beastly console “PS4″ for 100 dollars cheaper and will get all the 3rd party games and people who love Nintendo and families and budget strapped people can get the Wii U for 100 bucks cheaper than that. If you want Raw Power and Superior Graphics you will go Sony if you want the unique experience of Nintendo games and some of there top notch third party games like X you will go Nintendo or If you have enough you will probably end up with both if you are a real Big time Gamer that wants the total experience. I think if Microsoft dont do something extream it will die out and Sony will take the US gamer back.

    • oontz

I will be buying a ps4 to add alongside my wiiu and ps3

  • Martijn Plasmans

So they call a bad Fifa port a strong offering. ;-)

  • Audie in uk

    • oontz

This wouldn’t work because there isn’t a wii mote or nunchuk packaged with the wiiu. It would instantly alienate anyone who doesn’t have a wiimote or nunchuk from being able to enjoy the game as it was meant to be enjoyed.

  • Daniel

I think they need a much bigger install base on nintendo consoles because of the good first party titels. No one buys crap when you can have zelda, mario…..

  • 1239474899

Ashley king fanboy, smh has no life and lacks proffesionality never sticking to facts, always having typos, always hating ps4 and Xbox one, lacking proper paragragh structure.

  • Orange Lada

He has a point actually … well almost.

I don’t play EA … not on my Wii U, not on my PS3, not on Steam. Hmmm … EA …. you think your arrogance to consumers might have something to do with that?

  • Elem187

Well the ps4 and xBone will probably have initially big holiday sales, I’d be willing to wager they will have a huge lull after the first of the year…. And if they have the normal games drought all new systems go through, I can’t see them sustaining sales.

Meanwhile, Nintendo will be hitting its stride, so yes I’m very interested in the sales numbers of next Febuary for all three next gen systems….. The Sony/MS fans meltdowns will be legendary (Most people forget that both the ps3 and x360′s first year was quite rough)
