Here’s a few more details on Mario Kart 8

mario-kart-8-1

A new interview with Mario Kart 8 producer Konno and director Yabuki has been published over at NeoGAF. The pair shares a few details about development of the game, including the fact that it’s only in development by EAD Kyoto and that there is no outside development team helping as there was for Mario Kart 7. Some of the other details that were revealed include:

  • Mario Kart 8 development began slightly over a year ago
  • No external development help outside of EAD Kyoto
  • ”Our priority is to provide the remote display on the GamePad only. We have other ideas, but that’s all we can tell you for now.”
  • ”In Mario Kart 8 tracks have also been narrowed compared to Mario Kart Wii and reflects more the size of the road. “
  • There will be no track editor

I’ve really been hoping for a Mario Kart that allows custom created tracks, sharing, and a full online suite of features a la Modnation Racers on PS3. That game sucked and Mario Kart is so much better. It just needs to innovate a little more than vertical tracks IMO.

    • The Clockwork Being

      I agree with you.

    • Josiah Parsons

Yeah. I am still hoping for TrackMania.

      • Andreas Sunde

Well, it was on the wii, so it’s not impossible.
Time to start pestering Ubisoft and Nadeo about it!

    • Ken Seymour

A track editor would be nice but I highly doubt we will ever see it, because if we did there would be no reason to make another Mario kart until they make another console, but with that being said..there is only one Mario kart per console so I don’t see why they wouldn’t…

    • Silent

What do you mean about the vertical tracks? Antigravity?

  • Christopher Acuna

    Cool.

  • The Clockwork Being

Track Editing and creation would have been a hit for game like Mario Kart. Imagine the tournaments with custom tracks or even sharing them all over Miiverse. Track Editing would have added replay value beyond my experience with Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart Double Dash.( I still play both oftenly honestly). The gamepad would have eased things up for track editing. I think that Mario Kart needs a track creating option since you could even make unique and extrmely difficult tracks beyond ones imagination.

Imagine arriving at tournament hosted by lets say the top racer on the score board. You arrive only to see that the tracks are these crazy tacks with huge obstacles. Tracks like these would determine the best of best.

But if they dont have track editing at least in the form of some expansion pack like New Super Luigi U( i know its a DLC but I prefer Expansion since it distance itself from the crap they call DLC today). By Expansion pack I mean like 20 maps for a moderate price of anything that works.

    • jonen

i think the big issue with track editing is people would create inappropriate tracks, id rather not elaborate.

      • DragonSilths

What if it was like the Smash Bros Brawl Map Maker? Just drag and drop level pieces.

    • DereX

Then it would just look like Nintendo is copying off of Modnation and Little big planet racing. I think Mario Kart is taking their own direction more towards personalization of your kart. In the latest Mario Kart, they added features like gliding, selecting tires, and body type. You can probably expect to see more stuff like that.

      • The True Gamer

Littlebigplanet karting was fun, but the system of unlocking was the best part.

        • ludist210

The problem was finding everything. Some of those prize bubbles were either really hard to find or required you to have to go in reverse for long periods to get them (something that game wouldn’t allow you to do).

          I platinum’d the game. I know.

          • The True Gamer

I never got close to platinum. I don’t know why I stopped playing it, actually.

          • ludist210

Probably because it’s not nearly as fun as LittleBigPlanet. I only went through with it because I got a good bit of the trophies naturally.

          • The True Gamer

            Yeah. LBP was pretty great.

      • mikel334u2

It’s not copying; there’s nothing wrong with using good ideas from other games to make games better.

      • Διονύς84

B.S. They could easily include track customization as a DLC. You pay to download this kit and then you upload your tracks. The most favorite ones are voted on the Miiverse and anyone gets to select them when racing.

Nintendo won’t have a future if it doesn’t open up to its fanbase

      • Ratatat

That or a Track Editor? I think I know which one is more appealing. Those were nice little additions but they are given these days, that kind of stuff should just be in the game. A simple track editor like how SSBB’s level editor was would still be welcome.

    • Alex

If we could somehow convince Nintendo to put the Track editing, maybe they can update it and finally have this feature.

    • Silent

Ok, Im officially sick and tired of people asking for an editor. Do you have ANY idea how much would it take to create an editor and how much problems would that give Nintendo. Try becoming a racing video game developer and suggesting that again. It would be an amazing feature but It is very hard to implement in a game like Mario kart

      • mustbepbs

        SEE: LittleBigPlanet Karting, ModNation Racers.

People can create some awesome tracks. Some are better than the ones designed for the game.

        • Silent

SEE: Diddy Kong Racing DS or low quality racing games.

Editors have limitations. Dont tell me you expect to play those edited stages online too.

          • mustbepbs

I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I gave you two shining examples of what a community can do with a track editor in a racing game on consoles. You gave me one game that has a horribly made track editor. If Nintendo actually gave a damn about making a GOOD one, it would be excellent. There are STILL people making tracks in ModNation Racers, and that game is over 3 years old.

          • BLACKendTiamat

one of my all time favorite racing games.

          • The True Gamer

Littlebigplanet karting proved race editors can be great. This lack of track editor is just another example of Nintendo not caring about putting more features in their games.

          • Amz Strange

Indeed, it would add a great deal to the game. Although I don’t think it’s about not caring, it’s more to do with getting the game released as quickly as possible. It’s hard to believe that by the time it’s (hopefully) released, it would have only had a 1 and a half year development cycle. That’s insanely quick for one of the biggest AAA games on any system. Slightly worrying, but it looks incredible, so I guess they’re just working extremely hard on it.

          • The True Gamer

I decided after a couple comments on this page that adding a level editor really would distract from perfecting the game, and make people think Nintendo is just ripping off Sony. A short development cycle is slightly worrying, but I don’t think Nintendo would ever do anything to mess up one of their best selling franchises

          • The Clockwork Being

The Wii U is no low quality console. ModNation racers was on PS3, Little Big Planet was on PS3. Both had really good track editors that could produce awesome tracks. Now look at the Wii U. Way more powerful than last gen console that is the PS3. Way more capable of alot of things. Now here comes Mario Kart, a game that always delivers a great experience. Now tell me why you would compare ModNation Racers to Diddy Kong Racing when the Track Editor on ModNation and Little Big Planet racing was by far superior to that of Diddy Kong Racing. What me, Mustbepbs and alot of people want is a good quality, similar to ModNations, Little Big Planet, (insert awesome racing games) track editor for Mario Kart 8

          • The True Gamer

Mario Kart 8 could convince some people that Wii U is next gen. I was amazed when I saw it. It looks like if Halo 4 could run at 60fps, and had great particle effects.

          • DragonSilths

Wii U WAS NEXT GEN. Its out that makes it CURRENT GEN. Its the NEWEST SYSTEM OUT, the ONLY 8th Gen system. As soon as PS4 and Xbox One launch they become CURRENT GEN.

          • The True Gamer

Wii U is 8th gen. While 8th gen is current for handhelds, 7th gen is still the main gen for console, but 8th gen isn’t really seen as current gen, but then again the Wii U isn’t really compared to Xbox and PlayStation much

          • The Clockwork Being

Although it will convince some people im sure the game that will is ”X”. But still Mario Kart was just beautiful!!

          • The True Gamer

I don’t know why, X just didn’t impress me. I guess it’s because I thought InFamous looked better, but with a decently similar art style

          • Elem187

How do you move the track editor n the 3d space to take advantage of hover carts without creating a highly complicated track creation tool?

The only people able to take advantage of that will be customers with experience in creating 3D content, or maybe they leave the possibility of hover cart tracks and leaves just the 2D elements available?

          • DragonSilths

            Halo’s Forge…

Smash Bros Wii U will have its stage editor…though thats a small thing to design…

          • mikel334u2

So you’re comparing a good track editor to a bad track editor? Obviously, Nintendo should use the example of LBPK and MNR to make a great track editor.

      • IncubatedDucks

It’s not that’s it’s difficult or that it’s easy. It’s possible, and Nintendo has the capability to do it. Any game that has any sort of sandbox mode/creative editing just adds more replay value, and more sales.

        • KnowledgeIsPower

So you want the game to launch in the fall or possibly the winter of 2014 so that they add your precious track editor because I sure do not.

          • mikel334u2

            Umm…an update?

          • Elem187

Something after the fact could be workable, but to have it ready for launch? No thanks. I want the game released ASAP (or soon as its done)

      • Schultz38

Super Smash Bros. Brawl had a level editor. I don’t see how that’s much different from Mario Kart.

        • The True Gamer

If you have played littlebigplanet karting, you’d realize how adding that feature is a massive request.

      • DragonSilths

Well if they have only been working on MK8 for a year then im not surprised. If they were to be in development for another year or 2 they could make a track editor. Combine the old Hot Wheels track editor with the creativity of Trials Evolution.

    • Robert

I definitely don’t care about a track editor, there were far more terrible tracks in games like Modnation Racers than good tracks. However, it would be AWESOME if Nintendo made more quality tracks of their own which could be downloaded as an expansion at some future time. I’m thinking something like this could actually happen since we saw New Super Luigi.

      • The Clockwork Being

Yep exactly what I meant with the Super Luigi U. Nintendo is very capable

    • Magnus Eriksson

Track editing would be the most possible awesome thing. Share tracks on MiiVerse the second coolest thing. :)

    • BLACKendTiamat

im ok without it as well. its been a while since ive gotten into MK. bought it for the Wii but the disc was messed up and kinda just let it go from there.

id say… MK for GBA was the last one i played :/.

im looking forward to getting back into it though.

    • http://waluigi.com/ Waluigi

      I’m back for Mario Kart 8 :)

      • The Clockwork Being

Oh yes you are and YOU ARE GOING OWN EVERYBODY

    • SH*TBLOCK

I’m kinda torn on this issue because although track editing would make you (as the gamer) more involved in the game usually the editing isn’t up to par as a regular developed level by the developer. Think about the level editor on SSBB on the Wii, yes it was cool making your own levels to play on…BUT they still were blocky and limited over all than any other level you could unlock or play in the game anyway. I did still love making them and I had some unbelieveable and hard ones I did make, even an mostly all ladder one ala the old-school “Load-Runner” game type level. Here is a link to what the real game looks like; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0d-a2_j9bk

Maybe we can get it on DLC but I wold rather just buy a MK8 DLC pack with like you said more tracks rather than making them my own.

      • The Clockwork Being

I get what you mean when mentioned SSBB since the stages where simple and blocky. But what I mean by track editing I want the ability to do it like the Wii player Misterbean did it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdtUOL8VWrY.

  • Nintedward

Can’t wait to kick ALL yo asses at Mario Kart 8 :P Get ready for an expertly thrown forward Banana coming your way!

    • The Clockwork Being

Nintedward im sorry you are no match for my Mario Kart skills. Im just hoping they bring Wii Remote+Nunchuck controls, I owned everyone with those. I will most surely own you.

      • XroyD

I’ll hang in the back until the last lap and get a bullet bill and own you all… LOL

        • The Clockwork Being

Ill probably be hit by your bullet bill:

          Me: DAMMM YOU XroyD

          • XroyD

            LOL!!!

      • Nintedward

We’ll create a community and turn blue shells off! See who’s the real Chuck Norris at MK8…

        • XroyD

          Hahaha, Chuck Norris, lol.

        • The Clockwork Being

No lets keep the blue shells as only the real pros know how to dodge them ;). Im not saying you’re not pro since you want to turn off the blue shells im just saying…

        • makkan

ok man if your chuck norris i’m gonna kick yo ass with my bruce lee skills on mk8 :D

      • SmashFinale

        They will (thankfully).
They will implement pro controller use too so do not fret.
When i tried the demo i asked for a nunchuck, the nintendo reps were like “wut? sorry sir, not with the demo version. Full version will have it though.”

        • The Clockwork Being

IKR. I went to Best Buy(My Body was ready to won my friend at Mario Kart 8) we get a the top of the line. There is a massive amount of people watching. I told myslef: *As long as I take the Wii Remote and Nunchuck I will finish first even if its my first time playing on these tracks.* The game starts with me holding the Nunchuck and my friend using the gamepad. Then the Nintendo reps come and say:*OH we are sorry but the demo doesn’t work with the Nunchuck. After that I was forced to play with a Wii remote and switching with the gamepad. Obviously I ended up finish in the places of 6th or lower

          • NkoSekirei

unleash the army of flying monkeys on nintedward, pinwheel and metroidzero

    • D-Man

I always use bananas as RSP (red shell protection). When I’m in first, I love to get the triple bananas as it renders red shells useless when they’re thrown at me. The Lightning bolts and blue shells always ruin it though! It seems in the newer ones, items do more damage, and your character just flail their arms around instead of actually doing anything, which pisses me off!

    • Maxid765

See me when the game comes out :P I’m pretty sure you won’t win

    • Bob Charlie

I’ll be having too much fun and be too high to even notice I hit a banana let alone see who threw it.
I’ll just blame Knowledgeiswhatsup for it.

      • Nintedward

        lol!

    • NkoSekirei

      bring it on!!!!!!!!

    • Luffy

Can’t wait to prove you wrong! :P

  • Wayne Beck

    BOOOOOOOOO! I want a Track Editor…

Game still gonna be awesome though.

  • david jarman

Just thought I’d remind everybody that the codes for multi gamepads use were found when hacking the gamepad.

  • Joel

Not to upset about no track editor.

Remember the “track editor” in Diddy Kong Racing DS? It sucked so much ass!

  • The True Gamer

No track editor isn’t a huge deal, but it shows that Nintendo really isn’t innovating. They just release similar games for all their Mario franchises. Such a shame..galaxy and sunshine were awesome.

    • BLACKendTiamat

      both those games were awesome.

also, we havent played this one yet. have patients. when it releases, and the reviews and videos are out, then you can rest easy knowing what kind of game it is.

but to talk about your opinion, safe to say theres a 75-95% chance there are a lot of similarities. whether thats a good or bad thing, is determined by us. the gamers.

lucky for me i havent played MK since the GBA remake lol.

      • The True Gamer

The karts seemed to have slowed down on 150cc, which kind of ruins the fun and excitement. I heard Mario Kart 8 had some issues with speed, but hopefully they can speed the karts up and maintain 60 fps. That game looked just as good as InFamous Second Son.

        • BLACKendTiamat

curious about the fps myself. if it can, and 150cc is as fast as it was in MK64 or so, ill be happy. never played MK online neither. im prepared to get crushed and worse… LAPPED, for the first couple of months playing lol.

          • The True Gamer

If the online is great (which Mario Kart Wii’s was terrible and hacked too much) the game will probably be the best Mario Kart. The 3DS Street Fighter had incredible online. Nintendo can do it.

    • zerooooo

      Track editor innovating? Lmao

      • The True Gamer

Nintendo hasn’t innovated enough to change their games, I meant. New super Mario bros 1,2,Wii, and U are very similar. Even call of duty changes their formula more than new super mario bros.

        • Leo
          • The True Gamer

The only problem with Nintendo innovating is what they did with super Mario 3d land. The other games, great. That one changed the forums, and I just didn’t like how easy it was.

        • zerooooo

Well considering that nintendo thinks that by adding innovation they need a new power up. Sure beats cod in terms of innovation though lol you could of used better examples than that rehashed trend. Track editor on a game based on gravity, twists, and loops seems kind of a bad move when the stages of MK8 will look amazing. Look at brawls stage editor, it would be as succssful for the community as that was. Im glad they won’t have that minecaft like capability.

          • The True Gamer

I think a track editor actually might hurt the game, though. The last two popular karting franchises (modnation and littlebigplanet karting) both featured kart racers. Nintendo won’t put a lot of effort into it, only to have it dissmissed as coping Sony.

        • zerooooo

Well considering that nintendo thinks that by adding innovation they need to add a new power up. Sure beat CoD in terms of innovation lol, you could of used better examples than that rehashed trend. Think about it. You are asking for a full fledge track editor on a racing game bases on anti gravity, loops, and twists. The tracks on MK8 will look amazing enough. Now they have a game called minecraft, so you can use up your imagination there lol.

  • Grulnork

Community made content is something Nintendo should implement. Track editor doesn’t look like it’s hard to make.

  • Ford Crews

My 10 year old would rather build tracks than race, just like he likes building crap in minecraft. Being able to create is a big deal to the Nintendo’s biggest audience.

    • zerooooo

Your just speaking for your son and the minecraft fan base. Nintendo isn’t really about that.

      • Ford Crews

All his friends that come over do the same thing, it’s become almost expected on all the kart racing kinds of games. Honestly Nintendo doesn’t seem to be into much, other than the 3ds. The wii-u has been a major disappointment on so many levels. If you aren’t going to include a level editor, don’t rub it in people’s faces, just don’t include it.

        • zerooooo

Good thing I stated minecraft fan base. There was no need for a rebuttal…

  • zerooooo

Track editor would have been stupid. Thats just my opinion.

    • MississaugaMaverick

      i agree

  • Mochlum

No track editor? Not surprised, that would take effort… (sorry, had to) But seriously, Mario Kart 8 with track editor would sell even more. The only thing this game really is adding is anti-gravity, which in my opinion, doesn’t look like it changes much besides some track designs. I still will probably get it, I’m just not as excited anymore…

  • zerooooo

It pisses me off that abunch of people asked and complained about track editor. Seriously that would have been a desperate move and if you want to make your own crap theres a game called minecraft. It would be as pointless as stage editor for SSBB.

  • Peter Rogers

will everyone just…..sssssshhhhhhh….honestly, headache over here.

  • The True Gamer

Mario Kart Wii was just….cheezy. The carts were slower than double dash, and the weapons were built so any casual gamer can still beat a pro gamer with an extra mega mushroom…I hope Mario Kart 8 is built with more challenges.

  • Ducked

Give us cross play with 3DS! Please, we need more than that. MH3 got us begging for more.

    • Cube

Cross play as people with 3DS can vs players online with Wii U? That would be great.

      • Ducked

I was talking local, but now that would be awesome!

  • John Raybell

Here’s a few more details on Mario Kart 8

More details surrounding Mario Kart 8 development have surfaced in an interview, including details about the GamePad and track editor.

Why did you say details for track editor, makes it sound like it had one, i know your desperate for clicks on your articles but Jesus fuck lady, false advertisement!

  • everyone

I don’t think the track editor is really a necessity. They already did it with Modnation and LBP Racing. I always look forward to the new atmospheres and tracks each new Mario Kart brings. I like the addition of new tracks along with the remastered versions of classic tracks.

  • Weeping angels

Ugh I’m sick of all this Nintendo stuff. Just lay down and die gracefully Nintendo!

    • NkoSekirei

how about u stfu and go back to ur parents basement and play with ur barbie dolls and kens

      • ICHI

Oh don’t give the children round here the satisfaction just ignore them

      • The True Gamer

        Don’t feed the troll

    • The True Gamer

      Trololololololololololololol

  • Erik

Im hoping they balanced the game this time. Back on the Wii people are still using Overused combos (Bikes) and just wipe the floor out of everyone or leading by a lap. I can also have high hopes that they balance the online battles because its crazy enough pitting low ranked people with high end or top players, it be great if they put in a system that lets you choose who you want to play against depending on your skill level (or BR of course.) and match you against people of equal or slightly higher level. If any of those happen it be a GREAT game.

    • The True Gamer

I think as long as this game gets rid of the bullet bill item, the game should be awesome.

      • Erik

Maybe but how would people can catch up to other racers when they are in dead last? A Star may not be enough.

        • The True Gamer

I’d rather have a Mario Kart built for more competition. Sure, it won’t happen, but I’d like it.

  • Aleks

Yea, cuz a track editor would have been a system selling feature…. and who would want that? Still getting it, but a big fat missed opp. I guess I’ll have to wait 6+ years for the next mario-kart that might be FULL featured.

    • The True Gamer

If you want a track editor, just buy Littlebigplanet Karting

      • John Raybell

jeeeze just shut the hell up!

A track editor for mario kart would be better, why are people bringing up ps3 and xbox games, its fucking retarded, but I guess that’s what retards do.

  • FlyingBoat

im certain they would have looked at track editing, but with all the antigrav and flying sections, it was probably just too complex, and the last thing Nintendo wants is a glitch in one of their signature IP’s

    • The True Gamer

Also I would rather have the challenges from DS than a track editor. That was an incredible feature that mysteriously disappeared in the new Mario Karts.

  • TULFich

Mario Kart neeeds a Track editor!!! unless they put all the other tracks of the MK titles, then it would be unnessesary.

  • Joey Perez

when oh when is the next nintendo direct? :) i feel like im bored with nintendo and just no games on any system…. aaaaaghhh and i just want something to play!

    • The True Gamer

Try mirrors edge. That’s pretty fun

      • Joey Perez

        System ??

        • The True Gamer

          360

          • John Raybell

facepalm, yeah that helps with the wiiu, your a tard!

  • Bomberman

I should be in this game.

    • Luffy

no, but you should have a new game on Wii U!

A game like Super Bomberman. It was so great!

ANd i’m sure they could find some clever way to use the gamepad. (imagine a mode kinf of like the luigi game in Nintendo Land, where a player is invisible and all the other player must work together to kill him, or something like that! )

That’s great idea Luffy. However, Konami is just letting my dry in the sun. Didn’t know the king of the seas was a big fan of mine.

  • therealruben1

while i want all the content on day 1 it would be cool to get new courses and characters through dlc.dlc is a great way to add new content and not delay the release date

    • John Raybell

Yeah because we as gamers love to take what we could get for $60 on day one and turn it into a $250 game. fuck you! If you want that go buy an xbox, third party software is different, we have to DEAL with it. but first party, dlc needs to be worth a fuck and not take away from day one.

      • Luffy

You know what I hate about DLC maps?

If they are not given for free, it makes the online match suck because:

1- or they need everyone playing together to all have the DLC maps (basically, if you didnt download them, the number of game you can join is very restricted)

2- or they make it so that if one of the, let say, 20 racer does not have the DLC maps, all the racer are penalised by not being able to race in the new maps. So, in this case, you buy a map pack and end up almost never playing in those map and feeling riped off.

        • John Raybell

nah, dlc doesn’t effect stuff that much, I have been doing the dlc thing for years, never have i felt like i couldn’t play with as many people, The only time is issue is when you want to play a dlc a friend dont have, in this case, play what he can and wait till he can get his.

Dont get me wrong I hate DLC, i wish everything was included day one with our release on the disc, without paying extra.

Dlc as been a pretty bad joke since they started doing it.

But for a game like mario kart, I dont want to see DLC, i want it all day one, get my full $60s worth not have them remove part of it and sell it back to me fuck that.

          • Luffy

i have been doing dlc for years also and this is exactly what happens. there is always something wrong with them when multiplayer is involved.

          • John Raybell

Yeah, i have been a gamer since 1986, im broke allot, so cant get DLC for allot of my games, has never kept me from playing a game, nor getting into a match, I do understand where you are coming from, its just no where as bad as you make it out to be, DLC sucks, but again never had very many issues with what your talking about, unless maybe your playing games that nobody else plays then sure I could see DLC causing issues like that, not being able to play, find a match, but its rare.

I agree on the fact that i dont want DLC for mariokart, fuck that

          • Luffy

Well, I had these problems with gears of war, so I guess it’s a pretty popular game.
            Nowhere near COD, but still.
The thing is, the only thing I like about gears was the mode “horde”. Already, not much people where playing it (maybe an average of 1000 person worldwide) and because of the few people that played it, I really had a hard time doing horde on the newest map I had just bought. It really sucked, I even have maps I’ve bought that I’ve never played on. And for a while, I was mostly playing that. :(

I guess it doesn’t affect you if you play the game or mode everyone is playing, but ass soon as you go for something a bit more niche, it really screw you over.

          • John Raybell

true true, im not disagreeing with you, it does cause issues now and then, I would love DLC to go away, and for our day one purchase of $60 to cover the extra content, this would solve the issues your talking about, wont ever happen but it should.

To be fair I played gears, just not that much, and mostly offline co-op, I have ran into the issues you talk about with a few other games, just not very often, but that doesn’t mean its not an issue, because I understand that it is. DLC sucks for so many reasons its not even funny.

But yeah I fully understand what your talking about

  • Rainbow Dashing

I cant wait for mario kart 8

Honestly, i wish i had a TARDIS right now.

  • Rick van der Linde

I don’t want a track editor, I want DLC (map packs) every now and then.

    • John Raybell

Why not both? making tracks for racing games can be pretty cool.

      • Rick van der Linde

My own tracks will never be as good as the tracks created by Nintendo. I used to create Unreal Tournament maps back in the day, but that was a very, VERY, big editor in which you could create everything. A simple track builder on a console won’t cut it (for me). Now if they where to release an editor for PC, that would be interesting…

  • Eliot

Yes, yes a track editor and the ability to upload them via Miiverse would be great, but I’m surprised that no one has picked up on the:

”In Mario Kart 8 tracks have also been narrowed compared to Mario Kart Wii and reflects more the size of the road. “

This suggests the focus shifting a little back towards racing and a little less of a party game, juts like the fantastic Mario Kart 7, which IMHO is the only Mario Kart to truly compare with the original.
This to me is the stand out piece of news here.
    Bring it on Nintendo!

    • Fred

Sorry, but it says NO track editor

  • devmiles

late 2014….. i’m getting tired already

  • john

I hope rainbow road from Mario Kart 64 is a bonus stage. That was my favorite one, and Mario Kart 7 had the SNES one as a bonus stage. So Mario Kart 8 gets 64, Mario Kart 9 gets Double Dash or Super Circuit, and Mario Kart 10 gets a special cup with all of them!

  • John Raybell

Change the tile of this, its false advertisement, what is wrong with you guys. take out the part about track editor details, its retarded for it to be in the title.

  • zerooooo

Why didn’t anyone talk about the possible double dash mode? Seriously people get easily blinded by 1 confirmation that isn’t even good, track editor isn’t big stuff…

  • The True Gamer

I think they could do better, but they certainly are trying.

  • John Raybell

yeah, not really, they are in a phase where they seem like they are trying to commit suicide lol, trying, but hardly!
