Pikmin 3 North America commercial shows off Pikmin army

Nintendo has released the North American Pikmin 3 commercial to help advertise the game.

Last week we showed you the UK commercial for Pikmin 3 and this week, we’ve got the commercial that’ll be showing in North America. It’s actually a great commercial that advertises the game’s points well, unlike some of the Wii U commercials that Nintendo has produced in the past.

What do you think of this effort? Will you be getting Pikmin 3 on August 4th? Let us know in the comments below.

Around the web
  • Madmagican

…and I have to wait until August

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

Nintendo commercials are always so whimsical. Good to see some advertising now that there are games worth getting on the Wii U in the next few months.

Still, that kid is a pansy. You’re a giant compared to that thing, use your feet!

    • ludist210

Yeah, I was thinking he should just step on it…but a good ad overall.

    • e_rocket

      jajaja…

  • Ice Climbers

Feels like an old school 90′s commercial. Do more commercials like this Nintendo!

    • rcprieto06

Got the same feeling too, like the Pokemon yellow commercial

    • Nintedward

I really liked this commercial ^_^ ! This game is gunna Rock (Pikmin).
Launch in t-minus 10 days in Europe!!!!

      • Ice Climbers

I gotta wait until August 4th. Then again, I might go to Gamestop and preorder the digital version just to play it a day early.

        • companyoflosers

you cant pre order from eshop? odd…

          • Ice Climbers

Nintendo has a promotion going on where you can go to any participating Gamestop on July 20th and 21st and play a demo of the game. If you preorder the digital version at Gamestop on those two days you will be able to download the game a day early. There’s no need to preorder from the eShop because its digital anyway.

      • Shaise

Yeah I’m excited too! Its a day after my birthday! I want to preorder it from Game because you get that free winged pikmin keyring

    • Shaise

Why couldnt the UK version be like that!

    • http://waluigi.com/ Waluigi

A commercial with me and Wario

      • Lord Carlisle

What a waste of air time.

      • Michael Jurado

Don’t Listen to them Waluigi … if it’s the year of Luigi it only makes sense for him to go against Waluigi in an epic battle for coins

        • http://waluigi.com/ Waluigi

          Hey! That’s a good idea!

  • sharlo galmo

Next week then i am gonna play Pikmin 3…..Can’t wait.

  • XroyD

My Body is Ready!… but my wallet is not!

    • Michael Jurado

you aren’t alone bud and nice pic :D

      • XroyD

        haha, thanks.

        • Michael Jurado

D: why did you change it now i’m the only one giving the finger :(

          • XroyD

LOL, I just changed it because of the kids on this site… you know…

          • Michael Jurado

well kids have fingers too >.>

    • Squid

I need the money for Pikmin, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Pokemon X and Y, Zelda Wind Waker, Mario 3D World. And this list goes on,,,

      • XroyD

LOL, yeah. Also to buy DK Country, Mario Kart 8 etc.

  • MujuraNoKamen

Now that was a good ad Nintendo, thank you. No families gawking at a TV,
no dubstep, and we saw some gameplay. I hope they add critic’s scores
to the ads (it got 5 stars in my newspaper) to say this aint shovelware,
buy it, it’s awesome, that’s all I can really think of to improve this
    ad.
    Keep it up :D

    • greengecko007

Yeah, a whole 6 seconds of gameplay, on a video that was 36 seconds long. Not exactly amazing.

      • ludist210

How many commercials for PS3/360 commercials are filled with actual gameplay though? Most of those are pre-rendered and don’t show any gameplay at all. I prefer something like this versus faux-gameplay.

        • greengecko007

The Last of Us immediately comes to mind. The TV commercial is cutscene based, but the cutscenes are all in game content, not CGI that won’t even be in the game.

      • MujuraNoKamen

        http://i.imgur.com/PppdzrD.png

A bit more would have been better but it’s a solid start to a good ad campaign after the train-crash that started last year. And this ad pretty unique and creative, just like the Pikmin and sold that element of the game to us very well.

      • Squid

If they want gameplay they can simply look it up. The cinematic videos are very interesting. Dd you see the Kid Icarus Uprising Commercial?

  • greengecko007

Terrible commercial that sounds like it was made by somebody who knows nothing about Pikmin. “You can lead a loyal legion of Pikmin and battle to save your planet”? The playable characters are from the planet Hocotate, and are explorers on Earth. None of the plots of the Pikmin games involve saving either planet, Hocotate or Earth, and this game is no different. An awful lot of CGI and very little game footage (only 6 seconds of game footage) also do a poor job of selling the game.

Edit: Here come the butthurt 12 year olds that can’t read past the “terrible commerical” part of my comment.

    • Michael Jurado

actually you are on the pikmin planet collecting food to bring back to your planet that has a shortage of food so essentially you are using the Pikmin to save your planet so please stop trolling :P

      • greengecko007

I’m assuming you’ve never played Pikmin before? The “pikmin planet” is Earth. You are collecting food to bring back to Hocotate. The point of the game is NOT to battle to save your planet.

        • Ice Climbers

Actually, the three playable characters in Pikmin 3 are from the planet Koppai, not Hocotate. Koppai is on a shortage of food, so Charlie, Alph, and Brittany go to find food to save their planet. The fruit they find is too big, so they use the Pikmin to collect it. So yes, you are saving your planet.

          • greengecko007

Sorry about the home planet name confusion. I had assumed that it was an non localized name, but I guess that’s not the case. Either way, adventuring to a foreign planet to gather food is not the same thing as “battling to save your planet” like the commercial says.

          • Ice Climbers

True enough. Can’t wait for this game. I think its gonna sell really well because Wii U owners are fed up with waiting for a good new game to play.

          • greengecko007

The game itself will be a massive hit, which is what you’d expect from a AAA first party Nintendo game. I only hope that Nintendo isn’t counting on this game to boost Wii U sales significantly, because a lot of people already bought a Wii U for this game thinking that it was going to be a launch title.

    • Akatosh

The problem is they’re trying to get people that aren’t Hocotate etc to play it.

    • gamesplayswill

I love it how you say we don’t understand when you have no idea what Pikmin 3 is about!

      • greengecko007

Really? Gathering food for your planet isn’t that hard to understand. I admit that I mistakenly believed that Koppai was the non localized name of Hocotate. However, “battling to save your planet” is not what the game is about.

        • gamesplayswill

Yes.. it is… You have to battle “monsters” to get fruit to save your home planet. If you didn’t battle you probably wouldn’t succeed in doing so.
I get what you mean but you clearly didn’t understand the plot or didn’t understand a part of it.

          • greengecko007

That’s like saying that Link’s quest is to defeat all the monsters in Hyrule, because on the way to defeat Ganon, he will defeat monsters… It’s not the point of the game.

          • gamesplayswill

How do you get through dungeons then in the ocarina of time?
You have to attack in order to get out.

    • Nintendofan

You don’t belong on wiiudaily… go to ps4daily, you Sony pony!

      • greengecko007

It’s kind of sad how the rabid fanboyism is so quickly returning to this site. Good news for you though, I’ve actually rejoined IGN recently, and I’m starting to use that as my primary video game news source again.

    • 00EpicGamer00

Umm…first of all. The playable characters in Pikmin 3, are not from planet Hocotate (I think Miyamoto said something about this), they’re from an entirely different planet (which is why Olimar is not the main character). Second of all, yes you are saving your planet in Pikmin 3! Do you even know the games storyline? They ran out of food on their planet and need to go get some before winter. If they fail, all the inhabitants on their planet will die. Thus, them not saving their planet.
Now, when they said “save your planet”, YOU probably thought that they meant saving the planet from destruction…which if you did think that, then you took what they said out of context. Oh, and they ARE fighting to save their planet, you know, there’s monsters and enemies in the game.

“An awful lot of CGI and very little game footage” So, would you rather the whole 30 seconds be nothing but gameplay? If you didn’t know, this is a TRAILER, not a gameplay video! CGI helps attract people to commercials, and besides, how the Pikmin and the crab looked like in the CGI part, is basically what they look like in the actual game.

  • Starfoxguy

Wow Nintendo really improved its advertisements.

  • YayGs

I never see Nintendo commercials air. I’ve probably seen a total of 4 different ones and the most I’ve ever seen of is the original Super Smash Bros. Though that one was great.

  • Adam Carruthers

Sees bug, gets poor defencless picmin to kill it. What a jerk. Will be buying, looks great!

    • Squid

Lol. The funny thing is that he could’ve just stepped on it,

      • Elem187

Whats the fun in that… its far more fun to manipulate this pikmin creatures to risk their own hide to do your bidding.

  • CCM

Wow a Wii U TV commercial! Haven’t seen one of those since….um….well….

    • Nintedward

Monster Hunter and Lego city ?

      • CCM

Yeah and what networks and what time slots did those air on? I watch a fair amount of PVR’d prime time TV that spans pretty much all the major networks and I never saw a commercial for either of those games.

        • Mochlum

I remember a while ago seeing a LEGO City ad while my little brother was watching the Disney Channel.

      • MujuraNoKamen

Never seen a MH Wii U ad (only 3DS) and I only saw 1 LCU ad and it sucked, some guy and a kid were playing with Lego City then it cut to tiny gameplay section without selling the humour or scope of the game (it’s biggest assets) If I hadn’t known about/bought the game I’d probably of written it of as shovelware the way Nintendo sold it to me in that ad. Just a few weeks before they revealed trailers online which sold the game really well showing the funny cutscenes and how great the city was with all the review scores to go with it. Why do Nintendo make those then not use them then pay some actors to downgrade their games for them? At least they’re turning it around now.

        • Squid

Actually, there was another trailer that showed off the humor.

      • Michael Jurado

Oh i love me some monster hunter :D getting really close too that 1K hour mark cannot wait for monster hunter 4 that’s going to be ultra epic

      • Martijn Plasmans

In Europe there havent been any ads since Nintendoland ads at launch.

  • Michael Jurado

Now that’s a good commercial got the point across in less than a minute, told me about the product, didn’t use annoying dub step, ^_^ i’m happy with this bring us more commercials of this quality.

Side Note: the advertisement for pokemon x and y are also pretty good :)

    • Nintedward

”An all new Pikmin adventure arrives on Wiiu” WUB WUB WUB WUB WOMP WOMP

”Take controll of the Pikmin and slay huge foes!” WIBILDY DIBILDY DOMP DOMP

”Coming soon on August 4th , rated everyone 10 and up” DOMP DOMP DOMP WUB WUB

      *Shivers*

      • Michael Jurado

        lmao that made my night

      • Squid

        The next day…
        “INTRODUCING PIKMIN 3″
WUB WUB WUB DUB WUBILIDIDLY BUB
*The Pikmin and the three captains dancing at a club*

      • Elem187

If they would have added dubstep I would have enjoyed the commercial more.

        • Rainbow Dashing

or at least some drum and bass

          • Elem187

Yeah I can totally see Ed Rush & Optikal trying to sell Pikmin ;)

  • Jack5221

Where are the white / purple pikmin? Are they not in number 3? :(

    • gamesplayswill

They are only in Challenge mode.

  • nin-10-doughfan

    looking good!

  • Sdudyoy

It’s finally coming, this game is the reason I bought a Wii u so early.

    • Dylan

Me too. The Wii U will finally have justified itself to me.

    • Brandon Gardner

I have never played a Pikmin game but this looks really cool…. Will it be similar gameplay like on Nintendoland?

      • Sdudyoy

No the games aren’t similar, but there are dungeons on Pikmin 2 that remind me of the Nintendo land’s minigame, the Nintendo land minigame is a very watered down version of the Pikmin 2 dungeons.

  • Akatosh

    A commercial!!!! ‘Bout time!

  • gamesplayswill

I’ve been waiting years for this… EVERYONE! PIKMIN IS FINALLY, FINALLY HERE!
AFTER OUR LONG WAIT IT HALL ARRIVE, GET YOUR ARSES READY!!

  • Linskarmo

I like it. Short, simple, and to the point.

  • Luffy

    Pikmin 3!!
Can’t wait to play this game! :)

  • Petri

I know who they need to market this game to…
But this commercial didn’t really make me want this game any more than before.
Still definitely buying though, and only 11 days to go.

  • Ducked

There actually advertising a Wii U game on TV in the states!

    • starwars360

Hihihihihihihih yes of course. Here UK as well. hahahahahahaha cannot wait, can’t wait, much exciting about Pikmin 3. :)

  • RARE

I had to rewatch this commercial its so good. Solid ad. I hope it attracts people who aren’t like us who are already knowledgeable and excited about the game.

  • Mark

Just like everyone says, reminds me of the 90s. Now you’re playing with Power, Nintendo Power!

    • Ice Climbers

They really should bring that back.

      • Squid

There is a new magazine called Nintendo Force.

    • Michael Jurado

Nintendo Power is what makes the X buster so kick ass

  • Lord Carlisle

There’s a white pikmin hiding! Go thirteen seconds in and look at the bottom right of the screen.

  • Gabe Hoffman

    No dubstep check
    No colored boxes check
No families with fake smiles check

  • Destructonator101

You can lead a loyal legion of Pikmin AND SAVE YOUR PLANET (yeah yours not their planet) by battling fierce creatures, overcoming huge obstacles and…

    SOLVING PUZZLES!

    • Michael Jurado

Oh SHELL YEAH I love Solving puzzles i’m sold ^___^

  • Nintendofan

This got me so damn excited. It annoys me some people are not going to pick it up. If you are real fans of nintendo and want the wiiu to succeed, you better start supporting them by buying their products. If not, you’re not worthy of owning a nintendo console :(

    • Elem187

Nintendo first party games will be ok.. its the third party games on Wii U you need to encourage people to purchase.

    • discuss

If you do not kiss a cardboard copy of Miyamoto every morning then you are not worthy of owning a nintendo console.

      • Nintendofan

I got plenty of posters with Miyamoto hanging on my wall. That counts for something, even though i don’t kiss them.

        • discuss

No kiss = no true fan.

          • Nintendofan

            … there… just did!
That probably makes me a bigger fan than you… I daubt you even have a cardboard copy of Miyamoto yourself, let alone posters.

          • discuss

            Ok you win!

  • Mj78

Here’s…..advertising to sell……at last now we need . More of the same.

  • Mario

Finally! I was wondering when they would do commercials about this.

  • zerooooo

I hated how they had a little boy in the ad. Why not just a character

  • therealruben1

    MAKE MORE ADS LIKE THESE!

  • B. Adriano

Is there like a theme going on here?

    Reggie: “My body is ready!”
    Commercial: “Your Pikmin are ready!”

    • Michael Jurado

I know my body is ready

  • Joyous Killer

I saw this commercial this morning. They should of displayed the captains instead of the kid, my cousin ruined it for me by saying the kid could of just stepped on the crab….

    • http://www.senran-international.boards.net/ TwinTails

Is he the one that commented down below?

    • Michael Jurado

why step on it and get your shoes dirty when you have an army of pikmin xD Casualties > Logic

    • Elem187

Yeah, no reason to step on it when your Pikmin can kill it cleanly and you can boil it with some salt and paprika

  • Dampf

Why did they use a kid…

    • discuss

Because that’s the age group it’s targetting?

  • Maxime Lemieux

Is there any way I could report kenny johnson ? So many irrelevant comments in the last few days ( plus him treating anybody liking the stuff in the site as retards) I’m really tired of seeing his comments, please go away, nobody’s forcing you to come here… Hope I am not the only one thinking that here ‘–

    • Elem187

I whole heartily agree, you aren’t the only one… trolls should be banned, they do not contribute anything worthwhile to the discussion, in fact they hinder any constructive conversation about any topic at hand.

  • FungalSpawn

Not a chance I’ll ever play this. Pik2 was bad enough, and this looks exactly the same.

  • starwars360

NEXT WEEK!!! NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEXT WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY PIKMIN RETURNS NEXT WEEK!!!!! PIKMIN 3 GOING BE EPIC!!!!!!

CANNOT WAIT, CAN’T WAIT, LOOK FORWARD, SO EXCITING AND MUCH HEATWAVE RAGE TO BRING PIKMIN QUICKLY ARRIVE!!!!

    • discuss

Anyone else always feel the urge to downvote people with broken capslock buttons regardless of the message itself?

      • starwars360

Hehehe I am so exciting about Pikmin 3. I am so glad it is coming so much sooner now. I support Nintendo for it. I don’t care about what I wrote. Game made me so much hyped and excited lots. Nintendo bought us wonderful IP game returns. :)

  • Caitlin♂

I saw the commercial on T.V and did the following.
    1. Got hyped
    2. Praised Nintendo for advertising.
    3. Got all my money ready to buy the game
I’m sure the commercial alone will make some go out and get the Wii U ahead of time just to prepare for this game ^-^

  • Martijn Plasmans

    Finally some advertising!

  • 00EpicGamer00

I saw this add on a Youtube video xD

  • Rainbow Dashing

I already per-ordered the game, can’t wait for Pikmin 3!

  • Johny

i like it :D commercials are getting ALOOOT better. keep it up with your future game ads nintendo !

  • Starfoxguy

You need to get off this site. Every comment you post is always negative. I’m sure I speak for everyone here.

  • val berger

Thanks for the news, smartass. Most people are kinda aware that Pikmin 3 won’t be THE GAMECHANGER everyone has been waiting for, but if you would have a tiny little bit of respect for the fanbase here, then you would see that this ad is 1. a huge improvement over the last WiiU ads and 2. an ad that just advertises the game in a quite good way for the target audience. And it’s not like it wouldn’t have a target audience. And above all of that, if there’s one thing that can save the WiiU, then it’s exactly stuff like that. Stuff that points the system out as something apart from the mainstream stuff you’l expect on a PS4/XBone. And I don’t even wanna go against those systems as I’m kinda looking forward trying them out. P3 is just a quite good example of innovation, no matter if someone is into buying it or not. It stands out and it lets the system stand out. And that’s at least something Nintendo is doing right here.

On no, I’m afraid I just sacrificed too many letters for your lust for hate, provocation & anger. Did I mention that your style of commenting stuff here became highly unoriginal and boring about 2000 postings ago?

  • greengecko007

I have to agree. Where are all the Nintendo fans that preach gameplay over graphics? This advertisment showed hardly any gameplay, and what was shown is overshadowed by the heavy reliance of CGI in the commercial.

  • greengecko007

You have been here long enough to know that he is a troll. So why do you insist on wasting your time by replying to him? He is not going to go away, no matter what you post.

On a side note, you may not agree with what he says, but personally attacking him in your reply speaks volumes about your own maturity.

  • XroyD

    G.T.F.O

  • kenny Johnson

Did they make you call them daddy?

  • Squid

That was an unnecessary comment. Should’ve known, only a troll would do that.

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

They wouldn’t be deleted if his comments were voiced reasonably. Most of the time, they aren’t.

  • kenny Johnson

Did they make you pose for photos?

  • Nintedward

Being a negative troll means you’re a dick. Hows your new profile treating you Knowledge ? :P

  • kenny Johnson

Did they tell you not to tell your parents?

  • Michael Jurado

dude no body likes a troll not even IGN >.> seriously If you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all

  • oontz

You may hate him but he has a valid point. If we want unbiased Nintendo news, we need to take the good with the bad. I fact that many fanboys forget.

  • Lord Carlisle

Dang. It was deleted before I could read it. What’d he say?

  • greengecko007

This one wasn’t offensive in the slightest. No language or insults at all. What’s funny is that @valberger:disqus’s comment in which he immediately starts off with offensive language is still up.

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

I never mentioned anything about offensive content…

  • greengecko007

The point is if it doesn’t break the rules, it shouldn’t have been deleted.

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

Pretty sure trolling and flaming is breaking rules. There are ways to have discussion without resorting to that.

  • Mario

I’m here! And I’m one of those fans!

  • Michael Jurado

lol freaking trolls man, if you even payed attention to this site you would know that we just saw a 1 hour video of gameplay

  • Elem187

So every commercial must show gameplay footage? good grief.. you trolls are like children, constantly moving goal posts

  • greengecko007

His comment was along the lines of saying the comercial used CGI that looks nothing like the in game footage. Which is true. He also said that if it was a PS4 game then the game would look like the CGI, which is debatable. Not exactly trolling or flaming. His post didn’t break the rules. A lot of people just didn’t agree with it.

  • http://www.youtube.com/azhood321 AZHood

I’m well aware of what the comment was, and I also know that most of his comments are worded in a way that draw a reaction on this site. There’s was no need to mention the PS4 in this particular article.

Might as well agree to disagree and move on.

  • http://www.senran-international.boards.net/ TwinTails

My question to him is: Would it matter? At least 6-9 seconds was actual gameplay, and him bringing the PS4 into this was not only irrelevant but shows he was simply putting the Wii U down. We know the Wii U’s weaker, but we don’t need be told that our games look bad because of it.

  • Starfoxguy

    BUSTED!!!!!!!

  • everyone

    Owned.

  • The Clockwork Being

    This guy is obviously Knowledge

  • 00EpicGamer00

You know….I think you’re right. Think about it, recently his comments have been getting removed from the staff of this site. So, he probably thought that if he made another account he’d be able to troll more….well, obviously that backfired on him.

  • Starfoxguy

He said the games graphics were poor and it would look better on the PS4.

  • Lord Carlisle

    Ah. Thanks.

  • Elem187

::: not directed towards you starfox guy, but at trolls is whats up::::
Graphics don’t change to fit the hardware. The graphics are however the developers make it. IF … and we are in huge hypothetical land, IF nintendo did just port it to the PS4, it would look IDENTICAL because hardware is irrelevant in how a game looks, games look the way they do because the developer wants them to look a certain way.
Do you really think you can just slap a new video card into your computer and it will automatically increase the visual fidelity to suit your hardware? NO of course not, you have to actually CHANGE the settings. Hardware doesn’t just make textures appear out of thin air.

  • kenny Johnson

Come on, you can tell us. We’re hear for you man. How did they hurt you?

  • XroyD

Hi, buddy, there’s a site called IGN for all your Call of Duty news.

  • kenny Johnson

You’re projecting. I get it. They made you do naughty things that you’re ashamed of. And now you spend hours a day of your life crying out in pain. But you won’t get better until you can be honest about it. How did Nintendo molest you?

  • greengecko007

You’re ridiculous… This is an article about the commercial. I expressed my displeasure with the lackluster appeal of said commercial. The one hour gameplay video was great, but nobody is going to see that on television. The point of a commercial is to quickly grab an audience’s attention and try to sell them a product, which I think this commercial does a bad job of by relying heavily on CGI as opposed to actual game footage, as well as trying to make the game sound like a war or strategy game, which it itsn’t. When you can effectively come up with a counter point to my opinion, then I’ll continue to respond to you. Otherwise, I’m done. Feel free to continue to downvote everything I post because you think I’m a “troll”.

Most of the time however the people that do criticize Nintendo do it in an outlandish fashion. I have seen the same on the other side however, and it’s a shame nothing is done about those types of comments because they have multiple up-votes or whatever it may be. Regardless, the mods need to be more consistent, on both sides.

smartass isn’t really something ppl use to hurt each other on a personal level. and indeed I’m long enough here to know better but by writing what I wrote I actually commented some major situation of the P3′s release

lmao dude Pikmin is totally a strategy game you saying it’s not clearly explains you’ve never played a Pikmin game and the commercial was kick ass stop being so butt hurt :P

  • greengecko007

If it isn’t something people use to hurt each other on a personal level, why did you bother typing it? The term “smartass” doesn’t do anything to prove your point.

Pikmin is not a strategy game. It is a time management game. The strategy is always the same. Use a swarm of Pikmin to break down barriers, kill enemies, collect items, etc. The gameplay aspect of Pikmin is to complete these objectives as fast as possible. The strategy is always the same.

  • Michael Jurado

    still strategy lol

  • Elem187

its a strategy game. You have to use the proper pikmin for the different scenarios/problems, and in doing so you are applying different… wait for. wait for it – STRATEGIES to solve the problem.

ok, I guess we’ve reached the point of overreaction. I’m not gonna analyse the term Smartass here with you. I agree, I gave that guy too much spotlight but that’s it, time to move on.

Like using red pikmin to put out fire? Or using blue pikmin to cross a lake? That’s not strategy, it’s one of the basic mechanics of the game, and it’s what you are expected to do. Their is no strategy in Pimin. The point is to skillfully command the various players and pikmin to complete objectives in the fastest amount of time, which doesn’t take strategy, it just takes practice and efficiency.

For strategy to be involved there must be some amount of choice and creativity in how you approach the objectives. In Pikmin, you HAVE to have blue pikmin to retrieve objects in the water. You HAVE to have enough pikmin to weigh down barriers. You HAVE to have white pikmin to detect underground objects, etc. There is only one way to do it. That’s not strategy. No matter how much you, or the commercial, wishes it were so.

I know this may come as a surprise to you, but when you are trying to make a commercial to sell a video game, yes, you should prioritize actual game footage. Do you remember the Aliens Colonial Marines Lawsuit? They falsely advertised the game by showing footage that wasn’t in the game.
