raetikon-2

We’ve known since last year that Broken Rules planned on developing another game in the Chasing Aurora universe, this time with a story-based aspect. Now with Chasing Aurora fully released, the team has finally released a few screenshots and a trailer for their new game, called Secrets of Raetikon.

According to the developers, the gameplay is spread across three chapters, exploring the alpine mountains and environments and uncovering the remains of an ancient civilization. Broken Rules have stated that the game will have a fully interactive world with the player able to explore at their own pace and interact with various form sof wildlife featured in the game. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of this new release.

While the game isn’t officially confirmed for the Wii U, it is using the same engine as Chasing Aurora which was developed exclusively for the Wii U.

That was a heck of a trailer

    • bizzy gie

I would’ve never even considered buying this game if it weren’t for that trailer.

    • val berger

      it’s called ‘teaser’

    • kenny Johnson

I’m perplexed. What about that trailer intrigues you? Nothing about that trailer makes we want the game.

those were the best 23 seconds of my life

        • Jeffery02

22 seconds for me. That last second was just too epic to watch.

I understand. It was a lot

    • gamesplayswill

The part were he finished the guy off by ripping out his spine was immense!

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

        I couldn’t believe my eyes!

        • gamesplayswill

That trailer should of been rated 18+ but y’know everyone should see it’s awesomeness !

          • cement

i loved the part where the demon came out of the pentagram just so an angel of light n hope could come down and destroy the demon!

  • Nintedward

I see they’re still using the ”Paper engine” that they used on Chasing Aurora lol xD. Such a powerfull engine…..

    • Seth Callahan

Ginkgo is an awesome engine. Have you noticed every single artifact is a triangle? Even the drops of water that pop up when a bird dives into a pool. Very cool.

      • Nintedward

        Yeah it’s pretty cool!

  • Michael Jurado

*claps and says sarcastically* what a game changer

  • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

Despite the lame trailer, if the developers play their cards right and have a story worth telling, this game could become an indie Okami.

    • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

      Inkami!

At least, some developers care about the Wii U.

btw, wii u released the api for HTML5 (http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/built-in-software/browser-specs/extended-functionality/ ) I can, sort of, dev games for Wii U now <3
(ps: wii u has the best support of JavaScript and HTML5 of all current consoles, and that's really cool)

    • thedeciderU

      love the browser

    • val berger

where did you read anything about those devs caring about the WiiU? This game hasn’t been announced for the WiiU. Although it’s not unlikely that they’ll somehow bring it for that system, like they did support Nintendo with And Yet It Moves too, there hasn’t been said anything abouth the systems it’s gonna support.

      • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

        I care about the Wii U and I’m a dev :'(

        • val berger

In this case it’s great that you care. Just didn’t want anyone to get too excited as the news haven’t revealed anything WiiU specific yet ;)

  • Joe Fraley

I’m pretty excited about this game. Chasing Aurora was crazy beautiful.

  • Seth Callahan

This game is going to be awesome. My only fear is that it won’t make its way to Wii U due to the poor support of Chasing Aurora. Definitely showing my support on Miiverse and Twitter.

    • val berger

But then again, CA didn’t receive any support because it was damn expencive and not really a good game. I accidentally bought it (don’t …. ask ….) and really got ANGRY at myself as I don’t really know what to do with that crap on my WiiU’s harddisc. And I’m even quite a fan of the devs as they’re from my hometown, which doesn’t happen too often (like … never …)

      • Seth Callahan

It shines as a multiplayer experience, way more stylized and relaxing than Mario Chase. I had to talk my friends into giving it a chance, but now we all love it. It works perfectly with Wii U to bring moments of intense competition, but maybe it’s failing for the same reasons as Wii U. People just don’t know what to do with it. Anyway, to each his own.

        • val berger

Hm, if you say so, I’m gonna give it a try at my nex NSMBU-Party eventually :)

  • discuss

So what is this trailer showing you guys that I’m not seeing?

    • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

      Magic

  • Srpg2ishere

    Interesting. :S

  • andrewjcole

The article says nothing about it being multi platform, yet the title does.

  • Your money

broken rules, just broke a rule.

  • Arthur Jarret

Talking to the devs on miiverse back when chasing aurora was just released (they asked what our favorite level was – most people noted ‘the credits’) – they made it quite clear the sequel was primarily planned on Wii U.

So, despite not being officially announced at this moment – I’m certain this will see release on the wii U
