New Batman: Arkham Origins screens show off the Batcave

origins-1

A new batch of screenshots have been released for Batman: Arkham Origins, this time with a fresh look at the Batcave. The Batcave has received a huge makeover in Origins, with vehicles and wardrobes mounted like trophies throughout the cave. This allows players to change costumes between missions. Challenge Maps will be accessible from the Batcave as well, making it a central hub for players before beginning any missions.

As it’s not from Rocksteady, this game still looks quite interesting. Experience tells me to be careful with such titles though. Like Bioshock 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3, Outsourced Sequels (or prequels) usually have potential to be nice games, but often don’t really work out in every way. I’ll stay tuned for some reviews.

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

Doing the same here. I had a chance to pre-order the game for $22.50 last night on PC and decided to wait for reviews. I’m just not convinced with the developer changes.

      • Baum 「ツリー」

Let’s hope the best for the game :D
        The series is fuckin’ AMAZING!

        • ScrewAttack

I’m more interested in this than I was City or Asylum. A must buy for my Wii U!

      • val berger

yeah. good devs ain’t be coming out of nowhere, so it’s more like hopefully those guys know what they’re doing. but usually if a studio pursues the plan of throwing out a frachisegame every year by outsourcing every second game to some unknown studio, it just don’t work out. I remember Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow which also felt just … strange. somehow familiar but not the spirit I learned to love with it’s predecessor. And I’m afraid it’s gonna be the same thing here as a different studio just can’t simulate the characteristics of another studio. The only way would’ve been to try to create an own take of the Batman franchise but Origins looks too similar for this. Sooooo in the end I’m hoping to get surprised by the reviews, but I’m expecting this to be something 8ish. Not outstanding, but good, like the other examples I’ve mentioned. So I’d even say it’s gonna be worth the 22,50 bucks although I don’t really think I’d buy a third person actiongame for PC :)

  • Pedro Natera

i’m not buying this crap no online multiplayer

    • Baum 「ツリー」

That’s actually quite dumb..The lack of Multiplayer shouldn’t even be an argument against buying an Arkham game. It’s like not buying Zelda, because there’s no MP.

      • Derk

I think the other versions are going to have multiplayer… The only dumb thing would be buying this game on Wii U without a multiplayer.

How would it feel knowing that everybody else paid the same as you (or less) and they are enjoying the online multiplayer? Then ask yourself why.

        • ScrewAttack

The multiplayer we’ve seen? Looks mediocre at best, “tacked on” feels like the right way to describe it.

I find it not being included a positive rather than a negative. Batman doesn’t need multiplayer!

          • Derk

But you don’t know because you have never played it…

How long did it take the company to develop the multiplayer? Add up all of the overtime, the game size, the brainstorming, the concept, the manpower required, and that is the total value you are missing out on… Only your wallet took the hit.

I don’t care if they “tack” it on, or “smudge” it on, or even if they “glue” it on. The only thing that matters is that it is “on”.

          • ScrewAttack

Every video we’ve seen looks terrible. Honestly, if multiplayer looks worse than Call of Duty, it’s not worth the trouble. CoD is bad enough.

Anyway, my main point is this is the sort of game I play for the single player. The loss of a generic shooter mp mode means nothing to me.

Not saying they should’ve taken it out of the Wii U version, not at all, just that it really doesn’t bother me at all that they have.

          • Derk

“The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most successful brands in the video game industry”.

I know a lot of people give COD trouble on this website; however, if you think that COD is a “bad” game then you really don’t know anything about games.

That is directed to all of the haters out there.

          • ScrewAttack

You obviously missed the context- CoD is okay. It’s not great, it’s not fantastic. It’s okay. It does well because it’s easily accessible by pretty much everyone in terms of both gameplay and availability.

If a multiplayer is worse than CoD which is only enjoyable half the time, it’s really not worth the effort.

      • Jake

But is zelda on another console. Why would you spend the same price when something else has more.

        • Baum 「ツリー」

I see. You guys don’t get what I meant: to me the Arkham series is all about exploring stuff and solving puzzles (just like Zelda).
The Multiplayer Looks really bad so even if we would get it, I doubt that many People will Play it for a decent amount of time and you’ll just end up waiting for nothing in the lobbies…

          • Derk

That sounds better than no multiplayer, doesn’t it?
Weigh out the options one more time..

      • Antar Rodríguez

zelda is not on any other console, and besides why would u buy something that is not compelete in this console, i mean arkham city at least had the new suit, included all DLC and gamepad features and the BAT mode, for origins im guessing it will be just like COD black ops 2 an incomplete game and devs will justify by saying that the campaing is there and that is what makes the game to be complete

      • Mark

However a game should include all, if not, more content than the other versions. The multiplayer could most definitely be mediocre, but leaving out content and forcing the consumer to pay full price for an essentially incomplete game is ludicrous.

        • Nintendofreak

that is true if the game was 10 bucks or more cheaper well whatever i would buy it, ill just wait till it drops in price

          • KnowledgeIsPower

The game is $10 cheaper for wiiU look on amazon.

          • Nintendofreak

yeah i know but im still gonna wait for a price drop not a fan of the game series

      • Pedro Natera

Actually it is smart because I am not gonna buy an incomplete game and get fucked in the ass by these third party devs for the abuse that they are inflicting on the Wii U

    • Nintendofreak

the multiplayer probably would be crap anyway the only good multiplayer games are fps, mmorpg, mobas and racing the rest are just crappy shit stuff in the game, ac3 for example, if i buy the game ill buy it because of batman not because the stupid multiplayer if this was COD then i would understand but it isn’t

  • Sdudyoy

I’ve never liked super heroes so I wouldn’t know if these games are any good, does anybody recommend?

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

The first two are great, but they’re made by the same studio. I don’t know if this one will capture the same quality.

    • Agent721

I played the first two on the 360 & PS3, and they are some of the best games around. If you own one of those consoles, they are a must buy.

      • Sdudyoy

Sadly I don’t own a PS3 or 360, was the other one that came out on Wii U any good?

        • Steven_Segal

          Yes!

        • Agent721

As Steven says, ts suppossed to be the best version of Arkham City, due to the Gamepad being like a batman computer, so it feels more like you are batman. I did not buy it as I already beat it on the PS3, but if I hadn’t, that’s the version I would go with.

        • Deadpool U

Yes it’s an advanced version that has the DLC packs and an exclusive ability.
Hopefully that’ll happen to my game.

  • CaesarGood

I’m just getting around to playing Arkham City, still trying to get a feel for it.

  • Agent721

Unless the tablet offers something spectacular, I can’t justify paying $60 without the multiplayer. This game should be $40 for the wii u. Without a price drop to justify the missing content, I’ll have to stick to the PS3 on this one.

    • Orto

PS3 lol, buy the wii u version and show developers that we will buy their games. People like you are the ones letting the wiii u down in its most desperate time. Do not fuel the fony furnace of evil.

      • Mark

It’s really a double-edged sword on this one. If the consumer buys this game, than WB will think it’s okay to do this kind of BS (which is not); what I am talking about is not having content that the other versions have. If we don’t buy the game, WB will be another dev added to this list of Wii U naysayers.

      • Agent721

No, the one letting us down is this developer for putting out a version on the Wii U that is inferior to the rest. As a consumer, its only normal I spend my money on the best product out there. I love my Wii U and I will spend money on games on it that deserve my money, but the lack of multiplayer, without a discount to make up for it, is just assuming the Wii U consumer is 1) desperate and 2) stupid. I am neither!

        • Orto

I have set up our battle plans for the invasion into the fony realm. They may attack us with their horrible franchises however we will have a tri force that burns so bright that the demons in these corrupted gamers will leave. These saved gamers will see the light and march on the fony HQ. our numbers will double in a matter of hours. There will be no retreat and no surrender. This will be the most important battle fought by nintendo fans and gaming fans in general……ever.

          • Agent721

You are ridiculous!!! I like it!

      • Jack5221

Im with Agent721 on this one. If WB, or any other 3rd party dev for that matter release a game with missing content that other consoles have and expect me to pay the full 60$ for it then forget it. Wii U needs 3rd party support, not half-ass games that cost 60$. At least Ubisoft and Activison are supporting Wii U the best they can without releasing incomplete games.

        • KnowledgeIsPower

The wiiU version is $50 not $60, check amazon.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/purepuchi Severus Swerve

            UK Amazon:
            Wii U £37.99
            PS3 £37
            360 £35.99

            Less for more.

          • KnowledgeIsPower

That’s horrible. Damn you amazon UK.

        • Baum 「ツリー」

The Problem is, that the devs will think Wii U’s fanbase doesn’t want the game…I guess if enough People buy it and demand the multiplayer WB will release more of their games AND won’t remove the MP in future games (I guess it’s even possible, that we could get a patch for the multiplayer)

    • Donaald

This game is 49.99 with 10 dollars credit, you should buy it from there gor Wii U and save money at the same time.

    • Eduardo

yea i don’t know why they would do that to the console with the BEST CONTROLLER in the world.. its as dumb as not knowing how to count to 10.
i just won’t give my money to idiots period count me out of this one.

    • Levi Johansen

I’ll buy it for the Wii U, as I will with all the games.

But it really sucks that there will be no multiplayer, it will surely not sell as well as the other versions because of that – and then they’ll blame the Wii U.

Hopefully, it is possible to add multiplayer later as a patch, I will certainly be nagging them on Miiverse to add multiplayer for as long as I play the game.

      • YogiGRB

i’ll be on miiverse also to join you

    • KnowledgeIsPower

Are you forgetting that this game is $10 cheaper for the wiiU on amazon?

      • Agent721

$10 off is not enough to miss out on the multiplayer, IMO.

    • http://people.ign.com/fliadaloisio fliadaloisio

Or wait until the price drop? :P I mean for the people who doesn´t have any other system.

    • tomtank91

I won’t be getting any version until it’s low pricing because of the online. It’ll take away time and quality from the campaign. Plus Rocksteady aren’t making it.

  • SonicLucario

Well im still getting it for the WiiU, the least they can do is add multiplayer later as DLC?…

    • Donaald

Yeah, that’s something I don’t understand, why can’t they patch it later like Rockstar with GTA V?

  • Brian

If we don’t start seeing some good multiplayer games soon… i’m sorry Wii U, but i’m going to have to sell you…

  • WellWisher

Apart from the framerate issues, I preferred Arkham City on the U. If this version’s cheaper where I live and the multiplayer’s nothing to write home about, I’ll get this version for sure.

    • Nintendofreak

just like ac3 multiplayer it was just like tag just with blades

  • Merrfn

Batman actually was the game that sold the Wii U for my dad. He didn’t understand the Wii U and was overwhelmed by all of the words streamlining from my mouth, but then I just showed him the trailer. He understood what the gamepad was for and how the system would work. Chipped in $100.

  • Peter Rogers

im buying batman on wii u as gta5 is going to be gracing my ps3. online play doesnt matter to me for batman as the only online multiplayer ill be playing for the next few months will be gta. it looks amazing

  • Ducked

This is one Wii U game I’ll be skipping on completely…

  • Xbone is dead.

STOP PUTING SHiT BATMAN ORIGIN NEWS CRAP and put other news but NOT BATMAN damn it No multiplayer i’ll be busy playing rayman legends

  • Seth Callahan

Isn’t that image of Batman looking over the city from The Dark Night Rises?

    • Donaald

It’s actually from The Dark Knight

      • Seth Callahan

Of course! Good call. Definitely not from this game, though, eh?

  • Nintendofreak

YEAAAAH TOMORROW SPLINTER CELL COMES OUT HELLYEAAAAAAH!

  • Guest

This game is 49.99 with 10 dollars credit, you should buy it from there and save money at the same time.

  • mr.Goodbar

Yay! please remove the Batcave & the Batmobile from the Wii U version and i’ll pay $70!…. :/

  • RandroidRampage

Already pre-ordered the game cannot wait!

  • husky818yahoocom

Going to wait on this game till its on sale not paying full price for a game missing something, its like ordering a meal at one McDonald’s im your neighborhood and then at a different McDonald’s you order the same meal for the same price and dont get a drink

    • KnowledgeIsPower

WiiU version is $10 cheaper on amazon.

    • ICHI

I think the analogy was complete when you said “it’s like ordering a meal at McDonalds”

  • mario for life

i will never buy any game that is misinng any content its lazyness from the developers and they not worth my money and time and im a nintendo only platform man always have been always will be

    • ICHI

I wouldn’t say its always laziness, more likely its monetary. I think that some developers putting games on the Wii U without content is probably the only way it would get made. If it HAD to have that content then the project (in some cases at least) could be axed from the start. I’m pissed about no on-line for Batman in a way, but I’m still not convinced it ever really needed on-line or that the game will be any good on or offline. I mean Jesus, did no-one else play Brink? What a vapid pile of nad sacks that was, that totally on-line game which was made (obviously) with playing in groups in mind and the developers of this new batman couldn’t even get the basics right. Level designs were all over the place, some classes were too powerful, the game relied on everyone having the exact same objective! Effectively asking the internet to get along! I’d reserve judgement at least as I bet theres about 200 people who play this game on-line on PS3 or XBOX when it releases and after a week or two everyone is back on CoD so no-one would even miss the on-line mode and the single player may justify the slightly reduced price tag?

  • KnowledgeIsPower

Not quite $15-$20 but it is $10 cheaper for the wiiU on amazon.

  • Nintendofreak

like it or not every game is never going to be like the first ones , silent hill series will never be as good as first ones, second you can play the game completely stealth like or COD way, and third who cares about local cop the originals didn’t have it so why should it and plus i hate having to carry someones ass the entire mission

  • ICHI

I liked conviction but it shouldn’t have been called Splinter Cell. This one looks like it mixes up both CT and Conviction and with the option to play it on super hard (or whatever they have dubbed it) totally removing the mark and execute, it should be a little bit more of a challenge. As it still has the on-line options coming to Wii U in tact, I’m fine with playing it that way and though I love local co-op (Especially terrorist hunt on Rainbow 6 Vegas 2) it’s not something I’m going to miss as much as if it had lost all on-line options. It will just go in the pile of games I can’t play when friends come over with the likes of Assassins Creed & Darksiders 2. Sounds to me though that your major problem is that it doesn’t play like old Splinter Cell?

  • Nintendofreak

i have sibling they come and play cod and zombiu every now and then, and being honest my friend never come to my house since i go to theirs, but none play video games on console except for one but we had a fight so i haven’t seen her in a while
