Japanese retailer sales chart shows The Wonderful 101 doing poorly

the-wonderful-101-gameplay4

Before The Wonderful 101 launched in Japan just a few days ago, we told you that the region would only have 30,000 copies to sell. That sounds like a low number, but it seems like Nintendo was expecting as such, as sales reports from Japanese retailer Tsutaya show that The Wonderful 101 did not crack its top ten list during the first week.

Instead, it sits at the lowly number 16, just below Pikmin 3 and countless 3DS games, some of which have been available in the country for nearly a year. Hopefully we’ll see better numbers from the North American launch of the game.

  1. Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Maso Kishin III: Pride of Justice - PS3
  2. Conception II - PS Vita
  3. Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life – 3DS
  4. Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Maso Kishin III: Pride of Justice - PS Vita
  5. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team - 3DS
  6. Youkai Watch – 3DS
  7. Tomodachi Collection: New Life – 3DS
  8. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara - PS3
  9. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies – 3DS
  10. Earth Defense Force 4 - PS3
  11. Conception II - 3DS
  12. Dragon’s Crown - PS3
  13. Fantasy Life Link! - 3DS
  14. Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 3DS
  15. Pikmin 3 - Wii U
  16. The Wonderful 101 - Wii U
  17. One Piece: Romance Dawn - 3DS
  18. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - PSP
  19. Toukiden - PSP

Jesus. Well, despite low sales, the game is great (from what I played in the demo) and I can’t wait until it comes out here in the U.S. New IPs are sometimes hit or miss.

  • Baum 「ツリー」

Same thing in the UK…And in my hometown (wich is friggin’ small) was the game sold out at day 1 :/ (typical for my luck)

    • Clel

I thought you lived in Germany?

      • Baum 「ツリー」

I do, but I read it on another news site ;)

    • Jon Turner

Sold out? Then that means it probably DIDN’T do so badly after all.

    • Andreas Sunde

Amazon.co.uk (or .de for you), never have that problem. Got it on release date. <3

      • Baum 「ツリー」

Well everyone else was at school already on launch day and I thought I could take it slowly this time ;)

Already ordered it at my electronics shop (good thing they deliver it *directly* [^^] to my house although it takes like 2min to get there :0)

  • Mariokartfann

Well, I guarantee that it will do 2x better in America.
    Trust my words

    • Mark

      And it rightfully deserves it.

      • Jon Turner

It probably will, although it WILL kinda be going up against GTAV. Still, it will find its audience over time.

    • HeatPhoenix

2x better is only 10k… which is not nearly good enough.

      • Mariokartfann

        Woops meant 200x better xD

  • Jon

wasn’t there a 30% off for digital purchases with Pikmin 3? I would presume that most would go to digital due to this.

    • jay

Oops!! Forgot that digital sales don’t chart.

Whew! Maybe this game isn’t doing so bad afterall.

      • Michael DeVore

Digital might not show up on these charts, but I wouldn’t expect the digital take to be much larger than the pikmin 3 percentage. So unless pikmin 3 did a lot of digital sales, and I mean something absurd like 1 digital to 1 retail, then this isn’t a good sign. If 101 is below Pikmin sales, and pikmin is in week 6 or 7 then 101 sold about 10k retail. Which happened to be my low ball number given how many they shipped. So even if 101 did a 1 to 1 digital to retail it may have hit 20k, but I doubt it. However, the NA launch should do better but I’m not sure by how much. I want to say 15 to 20k, but if these numbers are right then it might be as low as 13k. It would be easier to estimate if I knew its current preorder total.

        • Mark

Pikmin 3 is I believe in the top 5 for digital sales.

          • Michael DeVore

True, but the high water mark for most digital to retail is 30 percent digital. Digital gets weird only when it’s the only thing available, or when it’s released early for digital. Special deals can mess with it, but in the case of W101 the best digital deal was directly tied to Pikmin3 so it should do a proportional digital to retail as Pikmin did just because of that, and relatively close release timing.

    • Clel

      That was for the EU.

  • audi lover

Fantstic game not sure why it doesn’t appeal as much to jpn market looks like I any other anime or manga from them

    • Ace J

umm i would change “jap” to “JPN”. that word is considered a racial slur and is kinda offensive. in case you didn’t know

      • audi lover

sorry you found that offencive changed now

        • Ace J

nah its ok lol. you didn’t know, just wanted to inform you. i had a japanese teacher and my friend used that word and she went off on him. i just didn’t want the same thing to happen to you

  • Thomas Vienna

Well, no one can say now that Nintendo doesn’t make games to target the west.

    • jay

      1. Nintendo didn’t make this game, they HELPED though.

      2. Not sure if this game targets the west.

      • Thomas Vienna

Yeah, I guess you’re right about #1, but it is one of their major releases. They had a whole Nintendo Direct about it.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Didn’t help matters much since sales are poor.

    • Clel

      1. Nintendo didn’t make the game, they published it.

      2. Totally agreed, targets the west, obviously.

      • Pikachief

The game was supposed to be all Nintendo characters in it oriinally so I’m sure Nintendo had something to do with its development though.

  • Marcus Navarro

    Brace yourselves…the trolls are coming…
In all seriousness, this game should see better numbers in the US. Now that Nintendo has actually gotten off of their asses and actually advertised it, Wii U owners are at least aware it exists. If only they could do the same for the Wii U itself… Too much to ask? Then I shall wait for Nintendo to attempt to acquire Atlus. DO IT ALREADY, YOU DAFT BASTARDS!!!!

Edit: Called it. Everyone’s favorite troll is flooding this page with his “cack” and “fail” regurgitation. I wonder why… Maybe his games aren’t interesting enough to keep his non-creative ass off of this site. (-_-’)

    • Orto

Do not fear for the fony trolls have their own squables atm. If they continue to recieve bad news their defense will be weakened and that is when we can launch our attack on ps4 daily. Keep training my brother, you will be a fony troll bane yet :)

      • Marcus Navarro

That made my chuckle. Have an upvote!
Now what bad news besides XboxDone/PS4 similarities is the PS4 getting?

    • Rukiafan Rukiachan

Looks W101 perform better in PAL chartz

14 (NE) WIU THE WONDERFUL 101 (NINTENDO)

      http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=662457

I hope this game sell better in NA too.

      • Jon Turner

The first post of that is probably all you need to see. NeoGAF are full of anti-Nintendo people.

      • Lethal_Doze

Of course it will have better numbers, it has sold most units in the biggest market, fact is game flopped in Japan and UK

    • Magnus Eriksson

The game is too difficult for small childrens, thats why. When you are targeting 3-5 year olds with your products it should be evident that you need to make simplistic controls too. The motion controller was a genius strike this way. Everyone can wave with their arms. And thats why the Wii sold as good as it did. Attracting both small childrens and really old people. What they did with the pad was in the opposite direction overcomplify an easy formula. Nintendo should scrap the whole tablet thing, it was a huge mistake. The sad thing is that Iwata is way to ignorant, and unable to listen to wiser minds. So sadly we wont see a scrapping in the first time, until its too late…

      • Marcus Navarro

I understand what you’re saying, but they aren’t “targeting” small children with the Wii U. They’re trying to have as broad of an appeal as possible. You’re implying that they’re alienating children(don’t get me wrong though; in that aspect, you are quite right). I personally think that the “broader appeal” aspect of the Wii U will pay off in the end. That is, if the 3rd party support(which is building up) strengthens.

        That’s my 2 cents anyway. I don’t disagree with you besides the tablet-controller being a mistake(yet).

        • Magnus Eriksson

It was just a joke Marcus.

          • Marcus Navarro

Yeah. You fooled the living hell out of me. Upvote for great satire! (^_^)/

          • Magnus Eriksson

Anyway, thinks W101 looks great. Ill get it the moment I have time to play. :)

      • Mark

It’s too late now. The GamePad does have it’s ups and downs, but I believe it will go on too be quite the memorable controller (in a good way). The whole motion control craze has very much subsided; I mean, look at Kinect with it’s horrible PR. I think Nintendo made a relatively smart choice as the Wii U would have been scrutinized more had it relied on motion controls again. Look at the bright side, Nintendo did bring us a new experience with GamePad such as Off-TV Play, something that they seem to have perfected.

        • Magnus Eriksson

My comment was really a joke. But they could have done some sort of connectivity between 3DS and the console instead. Forged it into one thing that could be separated. They do got the installbase to justify that. PS3/Vita doesnt.

          • Mark

Well, you got me :). 3DS connectivity would be sweet.

          • Shaise

Oh sorry! I didnt know you were joking? You didnt sound sarcastic

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Magnus Erikson is always sarcastic in his own unique ways ;)
If he posts something just read it with a grain of salt or a sarcastic perspective hehe

          • Arthur Jarret

            … that’s because he was writing it…

          • Javy G

TRUE!!! …with the ProController being the controller provided in the box along with a whole new name this Machine could have been a MONSTER in sales.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Or packed with or wthout a 3ds

      • e_rocket

I like the game Pad, I think it has the potential to make every game a little better that it would be with out it.

      • Shaise

Oh great! The troll of Wii U Daily! Magnus Eriksson

      • fireheartis1

Dang it Magnus stop trolling already man, and who said the game was marketed to “3-5 year olds”. It’s marketed toward 10 years and up dude. The GamePad is genius as well man. Once you play a game that takes full advantage of it like Splinter Cell: Blacklist you see the genius in the GamePad’s design.

    • NintendoNoob

          • Ice Climbers

Retro Studios making a Conker’s Bad Fur Day game. Mother of God.

      • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

Rare is dead, their founder and key employees are not in anymore, @aldo2410:disqus is right, we need to save the BK license (and get back the rights on DK64 to let Nintendo makes a REMAKE ON 3DS Dgdkjghlsjghskghlksdg ksgh kgh T_T)

        • NintendoNoob

I loved Donkey Kong 64, if they remade it for the Wii U/3Ds it’d sell a LOT of copies. The old games seem better than most games today

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Nintendo owns DK, why would they need to get back the rights to their own IP? Lol.

          • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

Rights on DK64 not the DK licence. Rare develloped the game and since there is their logo on the game it’s still part of their company.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Lol. Nintendo can just get rid of the logo. Problem solved. They still own DK64. Rare does not. Rare can’t own something that has a Nintendo IP. Doesn’t matter if they developed it or not, Nintendo still owns the IP, which means the game itself still belongs to Nintendo. Halo was developed by Bungie, but do they own the Halo franchise? No, Microsoft does. Hell, even Microsoft thought they owned DK when they bought Rare from NIntendo, only to find that anything DK is own by Nintendo. I rest my case. :P

        • Jay

I think by BK he means Banjo-Kazooie.

    • Derk

Here is why I don’t think it will sell well in the “west”… This is also why I believe this game will drop in price rapidly and end up in the bargain bin…

      1) Nintendo pulled out their key characters (my guess is the gameplay didn’t live up to a Mario game).

      2) It’s a super hero game which never really sell that well… (Super hero fans are slowly disappearing).

      3) There is very little replay value… There is no multiplayer and the story seems short.

      4) The controls are somewhat limited and the one button combos are an insult to anyone under the age of 70. People are much more fluent with technology and need harder games (I know 4yr olds that can use computers).

      5) It is a full price $60 game and people have better ways to spend that much money. The game has the same micro management mechanics as Pikmin 3 so when a customer enters the store, they are probably going to choose Pikmin over this game… Which has much more content than W101.

      • Truthteller

They have one button combos? Please tell me they don’t!

        • Derk

It’s true. I started the demo on “normal” mode and it still felt easy….

If I can beat the game on the hardest setting on the first playthrough, then there is no replay value.

          • ScrewAttack

Your poor excuse for a post up there actually gave me cancer.

            - Normal is not the hardest difficult setting, it is NORMAL
            - the game is about twenty hours long
            - there IS multiplayer. Lots of it.
            - if you’re using one button combos, you’re a moron. The combat system is deep enough for some pretty incredibly gameplay. There is a learning curve though, and you obviously sit at the bottom of it.
            - Bullshit using bullshit as backup.

      • Rugmouse

A lot of this runs counter to what I’ve read/experienced while playing the demo.

1.) I believe this one is purely opinion. I for one like that we have fresh, new characters in a Nintendo funded franchise.

        2.) No opinion – I don’t object or agree.

3.) There is multiplayer. 5 person co-op in fact. It may not be in the actual story mode, but it is definitely available in the mission mode. Replay value stems from trying to obtain Pure Platinum rank on all missions within the story mode (achieved via combo, time, and damage taken).

4.) Many of the demo combos are indeed one button, but you have several different abilities that require fighter-esque button combinations. For example, wonder-stinger, which is unlocked when you recruit enough team members (to execute: left – right – A). You’ll unlock more and more abilities as you play through the game (essentially leveling up your various wonder-weapons).

5.) Another one based on each individual gamer’s taste.

Just my two cents on the matter. Not trying to stir the pot or anything. Just bringing up some of my experiences is all. =D

      • Arthur Jarret

Here is why I think it will sell in the west:

        1) Word of mouth: the gameplay, the story, the length, the variety and the replayability of this game is amazing. This is an amazing game and will be recommended as such.
        2) Aestethics: It’s quite friendly-looking, but still seems cool. This will ensure children flock to it if they see a store demo.
        3) Reputation: Normal mode, from level 001C onward (you only play the tutorial mission 001A in the demo) can be quite a challenge… the hardest mode is simply ridiculous. Core gamers (you know, actual core gamers, not the group that calls themselves by that word) will get the game once they find ou how challenging it can be.

        • David Porter

I’d be willing to put money down that the game will be a sales failure in the west.

This game has bombed, and you’re not going to be hearing about it anymore a year from now.

          • Arthur Jarret

I don’t know about the US. Apple is popular over there, so the general population there does make very strange purchasing decisions.

Here in europe there is a big impulse to buy due to the digital promotion. Despite this, I got it as retail – and i was very lucky to get it, the store I got it from only had one single copy left – and this week it was sold out everywhere over here.

It’s one hell of a great game, too – everything Kayima has learnt while working on Viewtiful Joe, Devil may cry, Bayonetta and Okami has all lead up to this.

      • sd

Its a great game. Its also quite a large game from what I can tell. Its about 14-16 hours of gameplay on a single play through. I am about 5 hours in on level 3 of 9. That’s as big as Pikmin 3. I am playing it on normal and it is challenging and not too easy.

Most people with sense would buy this and Pikmin 3. This is in the top 4 games on the Wii U with Mario, MH, Pikmin, W101.

    • springer85

HEY EVERYBODY! I AM FAT NERD WHO LIKES TO HATE ON THE WII U.
LMFAO! I AM ONE OF THE STUPIDEST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET AND YOU CAN NOT DENY THAT!

      • Marcus Navarro

Welp, at least you’re admitting to it finally.

    • Cyrus

Not everyone you dislikes W101 is a troll. LOL

I dislike it very much, so what? That’s my honest opinion. I wasn’t interested in the game to begin with, since it looks like a kids game with “cool” superheros the wise good guy, a strong girl and a fatty. I only downloaded and played the demo because i bought pikmin3 (great game btw) from eshop and W101 is advertised with a 30% discount if you purchased Pikmin 3.

But the demo just confirmed my opinion on the game. So even with the discount, i won’t buy it.

So i don’t like playing the game, but i also think it’s a bad game for kids, it’s basically an advertisement for being a fatty! A fatty should NEVER be seen as a superheros in a kids game, those people destroy our planet by eating too much meat and living in a wasteful life in general! + All the energy put into their doctor treatment! Unbelievable, any parent who gives this game to his kid should be ashamed of him/herself!

Go buy them a fun game that’s not just about fighting with a fatty! Buy something intelligent or at least something with an acceptable message!

Buy Pikmin 3, Starcraft 2, any Mario or Zelda game or Pokemon. Those game are fun and educational valuable (Either by strategic thinking or giving the message to be a good person, not to eat as much as possible to become a fatty with a gun)!

      • Daniel Gonzalez

There’s a lot of fat people in video games. Deal with it. You seem to have a big hatred towards overweight people. Lol. Did one kill your parents with outrageous food bills?

        • Cyrus

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t hate fat people!

But we should see that all the mass meat and food production is a very unhealthy living style, for the fatty himself as well as his environment.

I believe everyone should be free to treat himself as he desires.
BUT to advertise this unhealthy living style by showing him off as a superhero to kids is very irresponsible in my honest opinion!

I would say the same if the game would showcase a crackaddict instead of the sugarloving fatty. And that doesn’t mean i hate the crackhead, i just think it’s wrong to show him in a shining dress moving like a hero and give kids the impression that it doesn’t matter whether you’re crackhead(fatty) or do your school(live healthy) to reach whatever goal in your life, because it does matter!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t think having a fat super hero is promoting kids to be fat. Lol. I think you’re reading a bit much into it. Plus, people make their own choices. If they get fat, it won’t be because they played W101. Let’s be realistic here. Games don’t make you fat, people do it on their own.

Blaming a game over that is beyond retarded. No offense. Mario is a bit fat, should Nintendo stop making games based on him because you think it’s wrong for fat people to be a focus on video games?

I’m sure there are people who share your vision, but probably a small percentage. Sorry bro, but I think you’re being absurd thinking games with a fat super hero is promoting people to be fat. Lol. Good day.

          • Cyrus

Mario ain’t fat like that guy, lol.! Mario has a belly, that’s even giving the message that’s not so important to fit into some rolemodel. You don’t have to be the sixpack muscle guy, even with a belly you’re not handicapped in doing things. But being fat like this green retard IS a handicap and shouldn’t be shown as if it’s no big deal.
it is a big fat deal.

Plus you calling me beyond retarded is something i’d expect from a person who probably grow up playing games like this..

And of course it is promoting being fat, just look at this fella and how happy he looks and he is fast and strong and very sporty. A kid doesn’t get that being fat actually means the opposite. it means being slow with weak breath and destroying the environment!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You sound like someone who belongs in the fitness forum rather than on WiiUDaily lol.

Of course I played a lot of games growing up, but that has nothing to do with being fat lol. Being fat is a choice and if people would rather play a game than go out and walk and exercise, then that’s their own choice. The game didn’t put a gun to their head and force them to be a couch potato.

People ruin the enviroment, not games. I rest my case dude. Continue to argue it all you like. Moving on now. :)

          • Cyrus

happy that you finally agree :)

      • Pedro Gomez

I really hope you’re trolling, fat-hating is bad. And Wonder-Green is AWESOME!

  • Antar Rodríguez

its really sad to see how not even 1 wii u game made it to the top 10 :(

    • Edward

It doesn’t have the base that the other systems have yet. Once Nintendo releases games like Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Super Mario World 3D. Even to a more extent when Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros Wii U come out next year. Then the Wii U will have more units sold to add to the competition of games sold.

      • Antar Rodríguez

i hope once they release those game things will light up, but hell it was a huge mistake not to have those homerun hitters at launch

        • Edward

October seems like a good month to own a Wii U console or even to buy one. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Sonic Lost Worlds, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Just Dance 2014, Batman Arkham Origins and Assassin Creed IV are coming out.

          • Antar Rodríguez

ac4 is coming out on november as well as watch dogs, but yeha since october there will be great games

          • Edward

In Gamestop I can preorder it for the 29th. Watch Dogs for the 19th.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Question is, how many people will buy these games? Guess we’ll see.

      • Fred

        Don’t forget X!!!

        • Edward

          Yeah that game looks amazing.

  • Lusunup

If you look at Japan community on miiverse you could see how little this game meant to them …>_>

  • CEObrainz

After a while sales will pick up, especially a good few months after the game hits worldwide.

    • Jon Turner

More likely the game will get its real sales digitally.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s hard to say since digital sales aren’t really tracked or covered.

    • David Porter

Sales might pick up very slightly after this game is bargain-binned.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

With GTA V coming, I doubt by much.

  • HotInEER

I played the demo and I was not that impressed. I’ll play it several more time before really making up my mind, but, it just seemed like way too much going on to me. My kids have yet to play it at all, so once they get a hold of it I’ll know what the younger crowd thinks.

    • Marcus Navarro

This is the EXACT same thing people said after playing the MH3U demo; look how that turned out.
I’m not trying to shit on your opinion or anything, but do pay the actual game some mind. I honestly can’t remember the last time a demo was representative of an entire game. Even the Watch_Dogs demo, which, according to the Ubisoft invitees, did not showcase the entirety of the game; the Ubisoft invitees said it was impressive.

      • HotInEER

That’s why I said I’ll play it several more times. I know the demo is not the full game, but if the demo does not pull me in, no way i’m paying $50 for a game. I just didn’t find the demo impressive, it I found it very busy.

    • Andreas Sunde

The demo is the first part of the second mission of the game. I found the controls to be a lot easier to understand after I played the first level.
Also, watching the W101 Direct helped me understand what was going on in the demo.

  • Razo_E

Sure the region only has 30,000 copies to sell, but don’t forget digital downloads could count as infinite. Honestly I didn’t like the game after playing the demo, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to knock it for other folks.

  • Kenshin0011

I really wanna play Yokai Watch [3DS]!!!

  • Nintendo4life

I tried the demo for the 101 and really didn’t like it but each to there own i quess

  • Edward

In October we will see a increase in sales for the Wii U console. Oct. 4th is when Legend of Zelda Windwaker releases (Hopefully in a package Wii U Deluxe deal like rumored) and then Sonic Lost Worlds on the 22nd. With these 2 games exclusive to the console hopefully gamers go back and buy games like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, NSMBU, Lego City Undercover and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

    • Jon Turner

That’s a much better way to look at it. I see this being a sleeper hit at best.

      • Edward

Games that are new take time to catch on. As long as people have fun with the game the word will spread and people will pick it up.

        • Marcus Navarro

I wanna say that’s not entirely true, but it is for the most part. I mean, if a game comes out with something never-before-seen and blows everyone away, then it’s just selling like [insert witty simile here]. Alas, that only happens every now and then.

          • Edward

Then I should say some games take time to catch on. Although I do believe that Nintendo should do a better job of advertising not only for this game but for EVERYTHING on Wii U.

          • David Porter

Advertising isn’t the main problem. Right now, the Wii U doesn’t have any games worth buying an entire system for. A remake of Wind Waker won’t cut it, either. Wonderful 101 is a confusing mishmash of beat-em-up and micromanagement that hasn’t done well in Japan or EU, and will likely fail here.

Nintendo needs to release Smash Brothers, PRONTO. They need to release Mario Kart, PRONTO.

They *also* need to provide for ACTUAL, HONEST TO GOD ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.

I’m not interested in (and cannot easily schedule) having four or five friends over in order to play a video game. I’m an adult with limited time. If I want to play multiplayer, I shouldn’t need to host a damned dinner party to do it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Couldn’t agree more. Would be nice if Nintendo had more MP.

          • Edward

I bought the Wii U day 1, then about a month later I bought one for my girlfriends son. I love playing NSMBU, Lego City Undercover, Resident Evil Revelations, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. He likes playing CODBO2, and MH3U so I don’t know about you but I have enough patience to wait because I know eventually when Nintendo releases their games, I know they will be amazing. I still haven’t gotten Pikmin 3 yet but I will soon. There are enough games to keep me occupied but I guess they don’t have enough first person shooters to keep you occupied.

          • Jon Turner

Still I see this becoming an instant cult classic and gradually garnering new fans. After all, Nintendo titles tend to be “evergreen.” That’s what this will probably be.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      At least you’re optimistic.

      • Edward

I think a lot of people are going to buy the rumored package of Legend of Zelda Windwaker along with the deluxe Wii U. Sonic usually sells a lot of games and this one looks pretty good, so I think they will sell quite a few consoles itself. Then games like Spyro’s Swap Force, Batman Arkham Origins, Lego Marvel Superheroes, AC IV, and Just Dance 2014.
Hopefully November continues the upward trend even though they haven’t said anything hopefully Donkey Kong is released this month and Mario and Sonic Olympics 2014, Wii Party U and lastly but not least but hopefully they have a major Black Friday sale on the Wii U console.

  • e_rocket

That’s so sad, the game looks really good, I’ll be buying it, and I’m sure it will cost me more than it does in Japan… jajaja

  • Ducked

The game is going to do bad in sales in the West as well because a lot of people have no idea what this game is. It’s a shame though.

    • Jon Turner

No it’s better to think optimistically and not in the pessimism. Actually, we won’t know what the sales are until NIntendo releases their actual sales reports. Chances are it may have done much better digitally. Still we’ll see JRPGs on WiiU. X is coming. Level 5 just announced a new title for it. And there are indie JRPGs coming. Don’t lose faith. Just keep spreading the word for W101, and it will find its audience in time.

      • Ducked

Yeah but we’re not getting Monster Hunter 4, Final Fantasy XIV or XV, Kingdom Hearts III, no Fire Emblem on Wii U yet, and no Dragon Age X.

        • Jon Turner

Now, now, don’t lose faith on FFXV or KHIII. Square-Enix NEVER ruled out any of them. We can still get them. And maybe they will bring it. There are already movements for bringing both games to WiiU and they’re quite vocal. And with WiiU’s recovery not slowing down any time soon, we’ll surely get one or the other (notably KH3, since that one’s a long way off and the WiiU’s userbase is bound to be better in time). As for MH4, it’s 3DS mainly, but Capcom HAS ported MH3. They’ll do the same with it. Don’t give up.

          • Ducked

Well there is a chance with Kingdom Hearts III since we’ve gotten Kingdom Hearts games on Nintendo in the past. But we’ve never gotten a main Final Fantasy game since the SNES days. But I’ll still keep faith.

          • Jon Turner

FFXV may or may not be worth fighting for because the series has lost its direction since Sakaguchi-san left. So it may end up being a dodged bullet, but we’ll see.

          • Ducked

Yeah, fanbase wise, FF has been lost with Nintendo. Now I think Kingdom Hearts would be a much different story.

        • SMT-x-FE

I guarantee that MH4 will be localized for 3DS. It’d be foolish for them not to.

As for Wii U, we can only hope, but Capcom did say that MH3U was a success for them. I don’t doubt that it’ll come. It’ll just take awhile.

          • Jon Turner

Yeah, I’m sure we’ll get MH4 on WiiU. There is every reason why we can expect Capcom to continue supporting WiiU. Not just MH3U, but DuckTales is also doing extremely well. That game was number one on the charts for two weeks. Two weeks! That’s a rarity for a third party title on any Nintendo platform. Based on the success of those two titles (and to a lesser extent, RE:R), I think it’s safe to assume that Capcom will continue supporting WiiU.

Where KH3 and FFXV are concerned, well, Square-Enix DID say that they were OK with how DQX did on both Wii AND WiiU. And they’re not on bad terms with Nintendo these days, I think we can get both. If not at least KH3.

          • Ducked

            Hopefully..

  • JBeauregard

As I expected, but it’s just one game in one region. I hear good reviews that people really love it.

    • Jon Turner

Word of mouth and increased userbase will probably compel gamers to give it a second look. It should at least be doing better on the eShop sales.

  • Jon Turner

It will find its audience in America. Over time.

  • Gabe Hoffman

Well to put in perspective we don’t know yet if the game has managed to sell out its initial shipment. The Japanese are big fans of the Power Rangers type stuff. Also Nintendo might have done this deliberately to get people to buy the digital version since there has been a promotion going on. Part of the problem with many of these charts is that they don’t track digital sales

    • Guest

Very true. And remember, this game IS having a discount sale on eShop.

  • Kirbyomega

What the heck is conception II?

    • Fuzunga

You don’t want to know, though whatever you’re thinking is probably correct. It’s VERY Japanese.

      • Michael DeVore

I don’t know about that. When I first heard just the title Conception I thought ok is this some kind of standard JRPG or what. Conception frequently means and Idea, to form something, or start to form something in English. The second definition, getting a girl pregnant, was not the first thing that came to mind, and would be the correct context for that game. I’m not sure what @Kirbyomega thinks that the title implies, but I would like to know what Kirby thought when reading the title. If they would stop pilfering English words to use them in the odd ball contexts it wouldn’t be so hard to figure out what the game was about, but no Game Titles have to be in English even when it’s a Japanese only game.

      • Kirbyomega

XD now I’m curious *goes to Google*

  • Malik Gilbert

Why is this game doing poorly I don’t understand …..?

    • springer85

Because it is a LAME idea for a game with TERRIBLE controls!!!
Japan gamers do not care for cack like this, they only care about Monster Hunter,Mario,Smash Bros,Mario Kart,Pokemon games!!

      • NkoSekirei

u know whos lame ur mom-quote from muscle man

        • springer85

LMFAO Lame mom joke the sign of a VIRGIN!!!
Aww just as your Gimmick U is dead do not cry!!
          LMAO

          • NkoSekirei

ur more of a joke on this site with all the idiotic trolling u do

          • springer85

Your Wii U is the BIGGEST joke in gaming history!!!

          • NkoSekirei

ur the biggest loser on this site ever that repeats himself over and over like a broken record and thats why no one takes u seriously because ur a retarded troll

    • Jon Turner

The real reason why this game is off to a slow start is because it is a niche title, and titles like these don’t tend to be huge sellers these days. But fear not, this will eventually become a cult classic, and it will have legs. LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER didn’t exactly break 1 million either, and it’s still selling.

  • http://www.w-o-n.org/ GoldDreams

I can’t wait until this game makes it state side. This is my most anticipated Wii U game of the year. I don’t know about most areas but since Nintendo’s 101 direct preorders took off in my area.

  • http://www.w-o-n.org/ GoldDreams

I’m just curious. Are digital sales included in all these reports? Cause a lot of people are going digital for some reason.

    • Jon Turner

They aren’t. The digital sales will be revealed when Nintendo “reveals” their sales numbers.

  • ETeach

To be honest, I kind of expected this. It seems like a good game, but it also seems like one of those Viewtiful Joe or Billy Hatcher type games that will be more of a cult-classic than a big seller.

  • palomino blue

This game really needed to be ready for launch or launch window to get those tack on sales. I don’t think enough people really “get it” enough to go out and buy it over other games. Like Rayman, it could have gone down as a solid launch title. But after it’s been drawn out so long I almost feel like I’ve already played it and forgotten it by now.

  • springer85

After Mario World,Mario Kart,Smash Bros and Zelda then what for the Wii U?
At the middle of next year the Wii U will only have Miyamoto new Ip to look forward to then after that…NOTHING!!!

    • Marcus Navarro

      Based on what?

    • Kev

“After Mario World,Mario Kart,Smash Bros and Zelda then what for the Wii U?” -springer85 Well there’s Bayonetta 2 and don’t forget Monolith Soft’s untitled ‘X’ which is my most anticipated game…maybe ever. You mentioned Miyamoto’s new IP, but there are also games like Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem and Zelda U in development with no time tables given for those releases. Those are just some of the exclusives we know about, of course as we go along we’ll find out about more games through Nintendo Directs and things like that. It’s a better time to own a Wii U now than it ever was imo.

  • Truthteller

For those who like to put the Vita down, notice how high on the charts they are! Now you guys are going to have to accept reality.

    • springer85

Exactly The Vita after its price drop is flying off the shelves and is finally picking up in Japan.
The 3ds is still the King but the Wii U is just an embarassment all over the world!!!

      • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

“The 3ds is still the King but the Wii U is just an embarassment all over the world!!!”
No. And you spelled embarrassment wrong.
WiiU sales will pick up once MK8, SM3DW, and SSB4 come out.

        • Truthteller

You HOPE that the sales will pick up. When they do come out, it will be way too little and much too late.

          • springer85

            PREACH IT!!!

          • Marcus Navarro

You couldn’t simply state that you disagree?

          • Jon Turner

By that logic, the 3DS and PS3 failed miserably after their slow first years. Oh wait, they didn’t. They actually recovered and got better and better. If it wasn’t “too little and too late” for those two, it won’t be the case for this. It’ll happen. You’ll see.

          • Guest

            .

          • Orto

Fony will not have the money to make any other consoles after this generation. Make the most of it fony troll. Btw im still surprised you are even showing them support after how poor they were at gamescom. The ps4 has an awful launch lineup. May the power of miyamoto and the wonderful 101 push you back to ps4 daily troll!

          • crocodileman94

I guess the PS3 and 3DS are failures too, then.

    • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

The Vita’s not a bad system, but the 3DS is much better.

    • Linkamus

Sadly no dude, sorry. Look at the Vita games….clearly those are only Japanese titles based on the names themselves. This is not a hardware sales chart. Plenty of people own the system, just not enough worldwide.

Japan’s market share is pretty small when compared to global sales. I am not a hater on the Vita, but this isn’t sign of improvement by any means. They need to sell units AND software. The one’s who already own it need something to buy…

    • Marcus Navarro

But the Vita is a good handheld console though. What other reality is there to accept? Its easily predicted sales increase? You’re acting like everyone here’s to the Vita as you are to the Wii U.

    • Mochlum

I’m actually somewhat interested in getting a Vita with Tearaway and Minecraft Vita Edition (the iOS Minecraft stinks).

    • Orto

Ha ha ps vita, go home fony boy back to ps4 daily. Fony will never match nintendo on the handheld market and will never match nintendo on quality. May the fony indoctrine die out!

      • Andreas Sunde

What the hell did Sony do to you?

        • Orto

Sony has done nothing, yet the fony trolls are the worst kind as they like to troll other sites. For some reason fony creates an awful breed of troll that spreads across the internet. My job is fight these trolls and put them into place.

    • Yen

Having two games high on a chart when the rest is dominated by its rival doesn’t really say much.

    • springer85

      Hello my stupid brother!

    • https://www.youtube.com/ButtonBros TheRedButterfly

Alter your profile avatar. You’re disgracing Star Wars by being any kind of associated with it.

    • Peter Lythaby

I have both vita and 3DS. They’re both good.

  • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

Hm. That’s a shame. That game actually looks kinda fun. But what I want to know is…WHAT THE HECK IS Pikmin 3 DOING AT NUMBER 15!?!??!?!?!

    • springer85

Because Pikimin 3 was another cack game that no one was interested in!!
In Japan,UK,Europe and the USA…Pikmin 3 did good first week of release then dropped out of the top 10 a week later and has continued to decline!!
Pikmin 3 was supposed to be a system seller…it only sold an extra 10k in Japan when Pikmin was released!!!
      LOL

      • Andreas Sunde

It’s true that Pikmin doesn’t sell that well. But whose fault is that? Considering the amount of people craving new Nintendo IP, few actually play it when they get it,..

    • Jon Turner

It already sold quite a bit, but it still hung out on the charts for a while and DID boost the WiiU’s sales considerably. But fear not, the WiiU is far from finished.

  • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

You’re a troll. Get off the site you idiot. When the next gen comes out Nintendo will have another system Duh.

    • NkoSekirei

i agree with u that springer is a idiot troll but nintendo is not planning on making another system in about the next 5 years

      • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

…which is about when the next gen will be out.

        • springer85

Next gen is out November 10th this year you MORON!!!
          LMFAO

          • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

NO! The WiiU, PS4, and XBone are all current gen.

          • springer85

LMFAO yeah the Wii U with its 6 year old graphics of the PS3?
            Yeah like so next gen!!!
            LMFAO

          • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

What the heck are you talking about? The WiiU is much superior to the PS3 in every term,

          • Daniel Gonzalez

They have to be released to be counted as current, other wise, they’re next gen for the time being.

          • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

Eh, I disagree. That would mean the WiiU is the same gen as PS3, Wii, and 360.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, you can if you like. Fact remains that those two systems aren’t out yet, so they’re still in the realm of next gen. As for the Wii U, it’s in the current whether you like it or not. PS3 and 360 I consider last gen. Unfortunately, they’re selling a lot better than the Wii U.

          • springer85

            I am such a moron.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Well to be fair, Nintendo has given up on consoles like Virtual Boy and their failed N64 disk system, so if the Wii U doesn’t sell soon, they could possibly discontinue it. I wouldn’t be surprised at the slightest. They have an interesting lineup this fall, guess we’ll see if they deliver.

        • NkoSekirei

we just gotta give the wii u more time its barely a year old and now were seeing some great games coming out this fall and bigger titles coming next year

    • springer85

LMFAO!!!!Y ou are trying to tell us that buy December that NINTENDO will release ANOTHER HOME CONSOLE after the Wii U has only been out a year?
      LMFAO!!!!!
You need to lay off the crack pipe!!

      • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Next gen is like PS5.

      • springer85

        I am a dumbass

      • Mario

He means in a couple of years genius! And by a couple, I mean between 5 or 10! I think.

  • Erik

A console that is only a glorified cable box ? *yawn* Who’s idea is it to have it anyways when they already have cable or satellite tv? M$ is just throwing more money there to make the NSA spy on people and report it to who knows where. PS4 is just a simple upgrade to the PS3 with only just a mere graphics update and that’s about it for sure. The Shitbox and PS4 is pumping out the same launch games (CoD, Forza, FIFA, Madden…) and its anything but the same damn thing. Sure Mario games is the same thing but they CHANGE it to make it fun for just about anyone. You need to get your head straight or go back to school. Your “LMFAO” makes me think you are hearing that damn “Everyday Im Shuffling” in my head.

    • Truthteller

Hating won’t help the Wii U.

      • Erik

So? I have my opinion on it. People these days just think that the best ones will mean a better worth of their own money. I mean who buys something that’s worth $500?? That’s basically rent, lease (if those who own a car), or a good (or even decent) TV cash. Im not getting either of them for the fact is that i don’t want to pay up for online service (and i dont care if its one year) and paying more for whatever it may be. Look at this economy right now.. its crap and i have no CLUE how would anyone buy a PS4 or Xbox.. or even then a parent that will buy one for their child or for themselves. Hate or not, i ain’t going to buy their systems.

      • Orto

rofl at your comments foul fony troll. Nintendo has always been more powerful than fony. When the ps4 comes out and all you have is indie games and no AAA you will be screaming for a wii u. May the three godesses strike you down and may you get trapped by the sages you infidel. We have the tri force……be scared.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

This had to have been a joke. Lol. Nintendo is good, but they’re not the only company that makes great games. I love Nintendo, but I can admit they’re not doing a good job right now.

      • CMB

        go suck on springer85′s dick

  • springer85

    PS4 pre orders…..1.5 Million already….LOL

    • Anthony K Aurelia

Half of those are for EBay…I don’t think the PS4 is going to outsell the WiiU’s launch due to such strong game support for the PS3. I think the WiiU will dominate this holiday season.

  • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

I heard that this game is incredibly short but has good replay value.. It’s worth a try, Platinum games never seem to disappoint

    • springer85

      Apart from epic fail sales!!!
      LOL

      • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

There’s a difference between fail and under-rated, look at CoD for example, over-rated but good sales.

        • Erik

Wish i can give more Upvotes.. But absolutely true.

      • springer85

The doctor said I was an epic fail when I was born.
        LMFAO!

        • Marcus Navarro

Did you just reply to yourself?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            That he did.

        • crocodileman94

          I can understand why.

    • Arthur Jarret

It’s not short at all… I spent 20 hours on my first run on normal, which is very lengthy for a beat ‘m up / hack ‘n slash game with shmup and punch out elements

      • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

ah, that’s good to hear. I just remember Hideki Kamiya saying it can be completed ‘the next day you buy it’

        • Arthur Jarret

Well, if you skip all extras an play on super easy, maybe you can make it in 14 hours… which is about the gametime I get on an average sunday.

          • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

Still, quiet lengthy. I think most people, including myself jumped the gun a bit and assumed that the game was under 8 hours.

          • sd

No definitely not. I am estimating it will take me 16+ hours, so more time than it took me to complete Pikmin 3 whilst collecting all the fruit.

          • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

How long did it take you to complete Pikmin 3?

          • sd

I think about 15 hours or just under. I didn’t rush it either and did 53 days I think to get the all the fruit. Each day lasts about 14 minutes. I didn’t collect all of the secret logs and am still missing a couple. Excellent game, worth a purchase.

        • sd

It can if you play the whole day without breaks and dont get any sleep.

          • Arthur Jarret

            Who needs sleep anyway?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Of course, people aren’t that crazy…..right?

          • sd

I sure hope not. I played for 7 hours on day one. The last time I did that with a game was a few years back when my mother in law came to stay (for 8 weeks) and my wife was at work. It is rare for me to game more than 2 hours in a day and I don’t do that more than 3 times a week.

      • sd

I agree I am on level 3 and have done about 5 hrs. Quite a big game, why is everyone assuming it is a short game. I completed Resident evil in just over 6 hours, I didnt once see people saying that was a short game and it was.

  • Gecko Altair
    • Linkamus

Hardly official and hardly a confirmation. Also, OFF TOPIC.

On Topic: W101 competes directy with PIKMIN. Releasing them within a month of each other here in the states is a bad idea…

      • Gecko Altair

Ya, I agree. However I like pikmins play style more.

People like you are an enigma to me. Why waste your time trying to troll something that doesn’t interest you?

How angry are you at home? Are you abused? Gay? Afraid? Seriously, people like you have issues. DO something constructive with your lives. Find another outlet.

Amazing how the PSP is still in the race… :O

    • Arthur Jarret

I recently boughtbone of the last psp games to be released in europe: Elminage original (directly through ghoslight.uk.com’s site)

Very limited run, as only 300 of these will be made! Yay, collectibles!

  • MujuraNoKamen

16th place is worrying but maybe it’s not as bad as it seems depending on the number of copies sold. It might not be a big number but maybe it wont be “poor” can we get the actual sales figures please?

  • Rugmouse

Forget about the Japanese haters. Day one purchase for me.

    • mazty

Yeah, Japan, the area in which Nintendo sells best, are obviously “haters” (wtf?)

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, that made total sense. Someone get his dude a cookie.

  • Marcus Navarro

Erm… Virtual Boy, anyone? 3DS? You can do better than that.

  • Pikachief

I didn’t really expect this to sell very well. They don’t have very many Wii U’s sold for people to buy them game on anyways and it wasn’t going to be a system seller. Still a neat game that I hope to pick up in the future… but with Rayman Legends, Deus Ex, Resident Evil: Revelations. Monster Hunter, Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, and Mario Kart 8 all on my “Buy for Wii U” list as well, i’m not sure if it’ll happen :/

    • sd

If you play any hack slash action games this really is a must buy. Seriously it is so great that I would recommend getting it day one. Just for the record the only other game i have recommended day one on the wii u was pikmin 3.

    • Baum 「ツリー」

It may sound harsh, but if you didn’t get your hands on MH, Revelations and Pikmin yet, it’s your fault. I know not everyone can/wants to buy games as soon as they release, but there’s been enough time for at least the first two games..

      • Pikachief

It’s kind of a silly list of games to buy, to be honest. It had Assassin’s Creed 2 on that list up until Microsoft gave it to all XBL Gold members a month ago and that game is almost 4 years old. So a 2 or 4 or even more year wait is not an issue to me :P

The only games I bought last year for consoles were Halo 4 and Borderlands 2.

Also, it doesn’t work with Nintendo games, but for the 3rd part games they’ll be really cheap and still the same game when I buy them even a couple years down the road. Sure the online of MH may not be the same, but I’m sure I can still get a few matches or just some fun solo play out of it.

  • Marcus Navarro

Not a system seller. A sleeper hit. Also, Japan’s a small fraction of the market share.

    • Jon Turner

Yes. Sleeper hit. That’s exactly what this is. Always has been, always will be.

  • Jon Turner

LoL! This game would hardly sell any better on PS3 OR XBox 360. Action games like this are a rarity. They are, at best, niche games. But I see this becoming a cult classic. Keep dreaming on it “failing miserably.”

  • Marcus Navarro

It’s always a cycle of hatred with fanboys, isn’t there?

  • Mochlum

Eh, expected it. Let’s just hope for really good advertising when it comes it in NA.

  • Jon Turner

Yes it will. PIKMIN 3 WAS a good start. But soon we’ll have WINDWAKER. And MARIO 3D. And DKC TF. And WiiFit. And SUPER SMASH BROS. And MARIO KART 8. All of which are SYSTEM SELLERS. The WiiU is dead and will never recover? Please. Keep dreaming. By that logic, 3DS and PS3 should have died and failed to recover after both had terrible first years. Well, guess what? THEY DIDN’T. They both went on to be successful systems. WiiU’s turn will be next. You’ll see.

    • sd

Realistically almost every major Nintendo first party game is a system seller. That is why Nintendo always succeeds. The Wii U will be a success now that the games are coming.

  • Agent721

I hate to say it, but this will bomb in the US as well…GTAV comes out two days later. In a few weeks, take two will begin bombarding the airwaves with GTA ads & this game will be totaly lost in the shuffle. With the GTA hype already huge, and with a game that looks absolutly amazing, how can W101 even compete?? Theres no way its a hot seller, with other big name games coming out a few weeks later. I certainly hope Im wrong, but I highly doubt it. My local gamestop (L.A., California) had over 1,500 presales alone just for GTAV, as of last week. Thats one store, for one retailer. Unless youre COD, BF3 or Mariokart, you are lost in the GTA shuffle. I will still look out for the W101as I love the Wii U, but its release date is terribly planned.

    • Pikachief

Definitely. Especially here in LA I expect to see a bunch of billboards. The two games that will always stick out to me in advertisements are Left 4 Dead and Gran Theft Auto because I saw so many of them, in so many places, for so long.

No one will even know what this game is :( no one in comparison to how many people are already buying GTAV, not to mention that a lot of people who love Gran Theft Auto are not hardcore gamers and aren’t even aware of GTA or just its release date until that huge wave of ads.

      • Agent721

The rockstar ads near Staples, on that building across the street always look awesome…my dream is to see one for Red Dead Redemption 2 in the next few years! But yeah, the ad blitzkrieg is coming. Hide the kids and please dont spill the hot coffee!!

    • Jon Turner

I doubt it will fail here. It may not be a super smash hit, but it should still find an audience.

      • mazty

Considering how few people picked up Pikmin 3, and how sales of the Wii U are glacial, it’s sales will still be very low, so I guess it depends on what you consider to be a failure in terms of sales.

        • David Porter

Exactly. This game will LOSE MONEY, pure and simple. It will lose a LOT of money, if current sales trends continue.

We’re approaching the nadir of Nintendo’s Wii U troubles, here…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Being that fall is near, it’s not looking promising for the Big N.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

With GTA V around, sales for W101 will be small.

    • sd

If that happens then it will be the best underselling game of the year. Which is a shame. But I agree why have they delayed it in the worlds biggest gaming market. The game is great, release it now in the US.

  • Agent721

Lets say youre right. WHO CARES? The system still rocks and I enjoy it immensly, along with the PS3 & 360. Unless youre in the game financially, and by that I mean go long or short on shares, why do you get so giddy over the success, or lack of sucess, of the Wii U? Find something tangible to get worked up about…you come off as 12 year old child. Maybe you are. I get worked up over health, politics and the stock market, as all those things matter…this, this is you wasting your time and getting nothing in return. Id spent my time on shit that matters, and not this.

  • Andreas Sunde

Sad because you can’t afford one, eh? Do you want a hug? You sound like you could need one…

  • Andreas Sunde

How do you know whats going on in the Vita forums, when you’re here all the time?

You know, you could take the higher road, be better than the trolls. But in your anger, you have become one yourself. It’s sad, really.

  • JeanPaul

This chart only counts 2 days of the W101 release though. Everything else on the list counts the entire week. I know the highest sales are around the release date but comparing it to things that got 7 days? I mean It’s not like it’s pikmin or anything.

    • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

That’s a great point. And that’s from just one retailer right?

      • Jon Turner

That still won’t necessarily translate to great physical sales. I think Nintendo’s pushing for people to purchase this digitally.

  • Marcus Navarro

I like how you ride Pachter so much but you can’t even spell his name right or acknowledge that he’s not an expert in the fields of gaming or software.

  • Christopher Westcott

Sad. Nintendo can’t catch a break.

  • Aleks

I wish I was interested in this game. I want my Bayonetta2! It MIGHT be Wind Waker, but I cant wait for the first system selling, must have WiiU game to release. That sales chart is gonna be rocked by Mariokart and Smash (i want them LAST November!! )

  • Arthur Jarret

So, it’s the second-best selling wii u game, while the best selling is a reason a lot of people bought a wii u… meanwhile, the limited sale numbers could be blamed for the low chart location. then there are the e-shop discounts which may cause people to forego the retail version entirely and download.

In other words, this says nothing about how well the game is doing. I want more information – please do your journalistic thing and get me some info!

Also, buy this game! – I just beat it and it’s absolutely amazing.

Kayima combined everything what made devil may cry, okami, viewtiful joe and bayonetta great and crammed it into one single -comic book meets thunderbirds meets gundam-themed videogame.

It’s really amazing – I haven’t had this much fun with a videogame in a decade, and any reviewer complaining about drawing shapes needs to learn to play with the right stick and practice some dmc meets okami-esque combos – it’s easier to do than street fighters’ special moves and combos!

  • CMB

go and make out with your boyfriend truthteller and leave wii u daily forvever

  • springer85

I think Micheal Patcher is sexiest person alive. I am so stupid!!!

    LMFAO!

  • SMT-x-FE

Wow…people actually search out Nintendo only sites just to troll…how sad…

  • Mario

What are you talking about? Not everyone’s attention is on those consoles. What about the people on Miiverse, WiiU daily and me? We have our attention on the WiiU as well. You can’t truly be saying the true. Not everyone’s praising the PS4 and Xbox 360 you know.

You are not 100% right about what you’re saying.

  • Shadao

And the X-Box One will crash its way into hell.

  • Pedro Natera

    wonderful 16

  • WhataShame

OK… the answer is in this article, if anyone cares to turn on their brains. Of course it’s much more fun to keep the doom and gloom drum beat. 30,000 pieces of software for how many Wii U owners… in the entire region!? And how many retail outlets have to split that? Japanese internet sales companies too? Of COURSE it’s not doing big numbers at this retailer… think people! How can you move large numbers of merch you don’t freakin’ have?

Coming in 16th is pretty damn good when retailers don’t have inventory. This is ignorant.

    But lap it up… sheeple.

  • sd

Not to pick fault with a great piece or reporting but….
To my knowledge the wonderful 101 was released in Japan on 24/8. The chart covers the whole week and ends on 25/8. So it basically had 1-2 days of sales for this chart. Also Nintendo are doing a digital promotion combining this with Pikmin 3. Do these charts reflect the fact that a huge number of people will be buying it digitally to get a discount? Assuming the Japanese market gets the same discount program.

    Wonderful reporting.

    • Baum 「ツリー」

      The promotion is/was Europe only..

      • sd

I wasn’t sure, because it extended to Aus as well. But we are basically the same region. I can access your eshop and vice versa by setting up a new, second, user with new home country. Both Pal.

        • Baum 「ツリー」

Yeah Australia and Europe really are *pals* :0

  • crocodileman94

Why isn’t this guy banned yet? He contribute’s even less than knowledgeiswhatsup.

    • Elem187

      Its the same person.

  • Petri

Pretty dumb to get worked up over one retailers sales data.
There can be a countless of variables affecting certain games sales (and sales data) at one retailer.

  • Cyrus

Played the demo, really don’t get what people like in this game… Totally understand the poor sales. Well, let’s wait for us market, there are more kids loving the idea of superheros + its so colourful.
Btw i only played the demo because of the 30% reducted price for people who bought pikmin 3 in eshop (which i did), but the 30% ain’t enough for me. I wish that campaign powered WW hd instead of w101.

    • Elem187

you need to play the demo several times to get the hang of the combat. Doing multi-unite combo’s is incredibly satisfying.

I hated my first 3 play throughs…. here look at this video and try to follow along as best as you can, it teaches you how to do some crazy combos/multi-unites

    • sd

I hated the demo when I played it the first time. I mean I was so disappointed. But I stopped and went back to it. Then I just messed with the controls and spent some time figuring things out. After that I replayed it properly and I suddenly thought wow. Also its a tough game, certainly not for kids that’s for sure.
