  • Triforce quest – the five Triforce pieces can now be grabbed directly
  • Only the remaining three require translated charts instead of eight
  • Hero Mode available from the start
  • Picto Box has been upgraded
  • Upgraded camera could still be used to snap photos of unsuspecting villagers or enemies
  • Pictures can go up on Miiverse
  • Link can also take funny self-photographs
  • Switch between happy, sad, and surprised emotions
  • Get the Swift Sail at the auction house after completion of the first dungeon
  • No alert via an in-game prompt to signal the special sails availability
  • No longer possible to accidentally skip Tingle’s island, as the developers have inserted an introduction to the quirky character into the main quest
  • Enhanced first-person camera
  • Can now have full movement in that perspective
  • Can travel through hallways and shoot arrows like you’re in a FPS

Wow. They’re putting a lot of work into it. Kudos for actually REMAKING it, and not just cleaning up the textures and leaving it be like most companies would

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

Amen to that. I’ve bought so many HD remakes of games that I like that are just ports with cleaned up textures. Looking at you, Stranger’s Wrath HD.

    • Hezkore

Yeah, this was a big issue I had with ICO & Shadow of the Colossus.
They haven’t event done much to the textures. :/

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

I wanted to play Shadow of the colossus…

      • Andreas Sunde

I feel the point of that collection is to be able to play them on my PS3. Doesn’ really look HD at all.

      • Christopher Acuna

Shadow Of The Colossus still looks fantastic though, even without a graphical overhaul.

      • Hezkore

You should all play ICO & Shadow of the Colossus anyways, but I expected a lot more from the HD collection.
Having played it so much on the PS2 and upscaled on my PS3, I felt kinda disappointed.

    • Zombie Boy

Have you noticed that when remakes appear on Nintendo consoles, they’re usually far superior to the original game (I’m not talking about ports here)? Resident Evil on the GameCube is another example. Far better than the likes of the Silent Hill HD Collection!

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

I hear starfox 64 3D turned out okay too

      • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

        Metal gear twin snakes… :’)

        I’m sooo hoping for a DK64 or BK remake that will never happen ;_;

      • pacheco90

        Zelda ocarina of time :)

    • Elem187

Is there any textures in a cel-shaded game?

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

        wooble wooble wooble

        • Tim van Broekhoven

          This^^

      • Stephen

Um… Yes, there are. There are textures in every 3D game. Cel-shading is just that; a shader, pretty much. Everything in the game still has textures. They have to.

      • Tim van Broekhoven

        Just wow
        So smart

    • Moving Pixels Enthusiast

The difference with Wind Waker HD is that they’re charging $60 for it. We better get some significant upgrades for that price. Other HD collections come with three games and are only $40. So you can’t blame other companies for that.

      • Metroid 33slayer

You better get some upgrades or what? Just don’t buy it, problem solved.

        • Moving Pixels Enthusiast

I’m going to be buying it no matter what. I’m just saying if they asked $60 and didn’t do anything other than HD then it would be overpriced.

          • Tim van Broekhoven

I thought the retail price was 50…?

          • Christopher Acuna

            It’s going to be $50. Not $60.

          • Moving Pixels Enthusiast

On Gamestop it’s listed as $60. I also just watched a recent preview on IGN that said it was going to be $60, but I may be wrong.

          • Christopher Acuna

Well if they raised the price I haven’t heard anything about it. I was only a week or two ago Nintendo said it would be $50. Was posted on Facebook too, and we all know if it’s posted on Facebook it must true…..lol

        • Jeffery02

(S)he meant more of Nintendo’s problem, not his or hers. It’s clear that they would make much less on it if it was $60 and no nothing extra. People would buy it, but they would miss out on a lot of people that either already have it, or already beat it. This gives us a reason to own another iteration of it.

      • Madmagican

        What about the Metroid trilogy?
revamped the first two games, added wii controls, added a whole bunch of collectable stuff, all three games were on the same disc, and it was only $50 :

    • YayGs

Just bounced you up to 100 upvotes :)

Yeah, I’m very happy with this list of new features. I’m even more excited for the game now. I’m wondering if they will allow you to store more than just 3 pictures. I’m thinking yes, but it would be nice to know if we can collect the minifigures faster..

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

        woot 100!

sadly never played the original, so I dunno much about what you’re talking about >.< XD

        • FoxMulder900

Oh man, you are going to have twice as much fun with it then! :D

  • flair11

any idea of when it releases?

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

They haven’t released a release date for North America yet.

      • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

I got an update from my Best Buy pre-order and they have the release date as October 4th.. Probably just an estimate though

    • Elem187

October 4th if you are lucky enough to live in the land of NOE… they love their customers… NOA could give a rats butt about us.

  • sdmac200600

Nice. Take notes developers. This is how you do a HD remake.

  • jay

Wondering how far the first person view will go.

  • Thomas Fitzgibbon

Sounds some nice new added things added, though I still don’t want to do any of that horrible Triforce Quest even though it’s only 3 pieces this time. Couldn’t they have put them all on Windfall or Outset Island and hidden them and have some kind of radar tool on the Gamepad? Does sound more fun. Still looking forward to this though. Nostalgia explosion.

  • MoodyG355

Seriously, I can see that Miiverse contributors are going to be really creative and hilarious when using happy/sad/surprised emotions for their pictures..
Definitely Day 1 purchase for me.

  • kenny Johnson

Bloggers… please source the original articles… not posts on Neogaf.

    • Elem187

What? You don’t like the Sony circle jerk over there?

  • kenny Johnson

It’s not really a 1st person mode. Read the original article this came from: http://www.usgamer.net/articles/the-legend-of-zelda-makes-a-surprisingly-good-first-person-shooter

    • jay

“What really struck me is not that Wind Waker works as an FPS but rather that it works damn well. Speaking as someone who’s spent 150 hours or so firing enchanted bolts into bandit hordes in Skyrim, I found Link’s enhanced archery skills to be every bit as second-nature as his dynamic swordplay. I take back some of myrecent criticisms of Wii U’s Game Pad; while it still has its issues, it works beautifully for first-person gun- (and arrow-) play. ”

      NINTENDO MAKE FPS NOW!!

      • Mochlum

I actually think letting Nintendo handle an FPS (not Retro’s like Metroid Prime or Rare’s like Goldeneye (when Nintendo had them)) would be interesting. Maybe Miyamoto’s new IP is one?…

        • CMB

He has said he was interested in making one, we will see.

        • Tim van Broekhoven

          Oh yeah.

  • D-Man

    Pft..tingle. More like Tinkle!

  • Rugmouse

“Enhanced first-person camera” – AKA Call of Duty Mode!!!!!!

    lol – sorry

This does sound amazing though. I’ve been really debating whether or not to get this one, and this just might be enough to make me pull the trigger. The amount of work they are putting into this sounds great.

    Okay – I’m getting it:

    Hero Mode

    - enemies deal double damage
    - cannot find hearts in the environment
    - regain health through the use of potions or encounters with fairies

    • jay

Hero mode is a dream for those complaining Zelda is too easy :D

      • Rugmouse

For real. I’m currently playing Twilight Princess for the first time. Pro tip: I mindlessly flail my wrist and become immune to all damage!

        • DragonSilths

Guys with arrows get you still.

          • Rugmouse

You’re right, they do! At one point I panicked because I was actually taking damage from some fire archers. They burnt my wooden shield!

          • DragonSilths

lol. I never just flailed my wrist around for Twilight. I took damage from time to time. Only time I flailed my wrist around was when I played Tennis on Wii Sports lol.

        • felony211662

Such a good game.. Enjoy that

          • Pikachief

Unless he’s like me and disagrees! hahaha, then I guess he’d have nothing to enjoy :(

But it sounds like he does like the game lol

      • Sealed by the Holy Spirit

Went through Twilight Princes and 1 shot every boss. Need Hero Mode EXTREME for Zelda games so it’s a challenge for a change!

  • Mark

Definitely going to buy this game. Like everyone is saying, this is how you make an HD remake; don’t just add prettier textures (even this game looks gorgeous), add plenty of new content. Take the time to create a worth while experience devs!

  • Brian Brown

First person mode… So it seems they were actually inspired by Skyrim more than I thought they would have been!!! This game is essentially a warm up for the team working on the next Zelda game.

    • Adam Porter

miyamoto always wanted a FP view zelda since OoT, luckily up until now though it never happened. i know people want to feel immersed in games but tbh i like zelda the way it is, zelda feels more like reading a book than interactively playing a game and changing the world around you. and then again i fall in love with hyrule each time and become immersed in it’s world rather than the avatars actions themselves.

      • Andreas Sunde

Skyward Sword has a semi-first person mode. You can walk around in first person, controlling the camera with the wiimote, but you can’t do anything.

  • http://www.w-o-n.org/ GoldDreams

I don’t understand. My favorite part about the original Wind Waker was sailing around using the WW and the Tri-Force quest. They offered a nice break from all the action. Now Nintendo has tweaked these features that I thought were fine as is. I just don’t understand. And a first person mode in a Zelda game has to be the worst idea I’ve heard come out of Nintendo in ages.

    • Christopher Acuna

Yea but not everyone has the patience to sail from one end of the map to the other. I know I found myself, at times, cursing the blue for it’s endlessness. lol. Especially during that tri force quest.

    • 00EpicGamer00

Psssssst! Hey! Did you know that almost every Zelda game has a first person option? Like, in Skyward Sword, you couldn’t exactly “fight” in first person, but you used it for dowsing and for specific items. And in SS you could walk around in first person view. In Twilight Princess (the GameCube version) if you press up on the “C stick” you go into a first person mode, to look around. Don’t understand why NOW you have a problem with first person.

      • Tim van Broekhoven

        Yup

    • Adam Porter

that particular part wasn’t my favourite part of the game though randomly sailing was my favourite thing in the game.

  • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

    Drooling.

  • BIG Franky

honestly…. i am in the bind of not being able to afford all of the games on my list this Fall and Christmas season… .let alone the time to play them all.
Good problem to have I guess. Can’t wait to pick this up… though realistically it wont be until early next year.

  • Jizz Beard thePirate

“Can travel through hallways and shoot arrows like you’re in a FPS” Metroid U confirmed

    • Tim van Broekhoven

      Oh yeah

  • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Sounds like Nintendo put some work into enhancing the game. Been reading rave reviews all over the interwebs on how this is a must buy for every Zelda fan or even people that are just trying to get into the Zelda series.

  • Shelim Uddin

    Link can take selfies!

    • MujuraNoKamen

Let’s just hope there isn’t a Duck-face option when using the Picto Box :D

      • Zorlac79

Man, I wish I could give you a thousand thumbs ups for that comment!

      • Sean

It will be called Rito face.

  • atl hawks

    Call of Duty: Windwaker

    • Luis Hernández

      No.

      • Adam Porter

legend of zelda : modern warfare :P

        • 00EpicGamer00

JonTron :3 (that’s where you got it from, right?)

        • Luis Hernández

          -_-#

          lol

      • atl hawks

        joke. try and get it

        • Sealed by the Holy Spirit

The Legend of Zelda XIV: A Realm Reborn

        • JustAGuest

Perhaps a better one (or at least more accepted) would be
          The Elder Scrolls: Hyrule

  • DragonSilths

All sounds good. Not sure how I feel about the First Person bit…I’ll give it a chance, but I don’t want a Zelda game FULLY in 1st person. That just doesn’t work.

    • Elem187

Its not fully first person… You are going to play in 3rd person most of the time… its just a novelty or for taking pictures.
I think its a cool idea.

      • DragonSilths

I know. I will make up my mind about how I feel about it when I play it.

  • $41809923

    NICE IT LOOKS BETTER NOW

  • Elem187

Oh my god this sounds so so so sick. I cannot wait.

  • Mochlum

I’m so hyped for this. Downloading it midnight on Day One.

  • Lil J Moore

This is what I love about Nintendo. They just do things right. Remakes on their consoles are way better then MS and Sony

    • Einar

Well Sony’s so called “remakes” consists of upscaling the game to play in HD 1920p, and recoding the game to the console the game is for. That’s not even close to enough changes to be able to compete against Nintendo with the Wind Waker HD and MGS1 remake.

      • Sealed by the Holy Spirit

MGS1 remake??? For an older system or for next gen?

        • Einar

There was a remake on Gamecube. Brand new cutscenes and graphics, though wether or not it was better than the original or not is heavily discussed. I like it though :)

          • Sealed by the Holy Spirit

Oh, I remember that… I ended up hating it because they changed the alert music when an enemy spotted you.

    • Castamere

I must say that the Halo: Combat Evolved remake was actually really well done.

    • http://MacroManJr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Only if they price it at lower than $40. No offense, but while these are nice little touches, I fail to see anything here that makes this game worth the rumored $50.

  • sd

I never played the original so this should be good. For me I am still waiting for a zelda game that rivals Ocarina of time. Hoping this is it.

  • Johny

very very good. im satisfied.. CANT wait for it to come out..
luckily, college starts in october hehe :D sweet september, here i come

    • Einar

Wait what? When is the game coming out in your area?

      • Johny

nevermind :/ for some reason, i was 100% SURE that i’ve read somewhere that the game is coming out in September in Europe …. *sigh*

  • Linskarmo

These are great! I hope there are some surprises they put in too, though.

  • JeanPaul

With first person mode, taking advantage of wii motion plus would have been great…

    • Guest

      No

      • Tim van Broekhoven

        Gtfo

  • fireheartis1

Man it looks like Nintendo is putting a crap load of content for new and old players of Wind Waker. I can’t wait to play this amazing game again. It has to be my favorite Zelda of all time.

  • insomniac

super excited……but also am i the only one who wants Super Mario 64 HD? could you imagine Super Mario 64 DS HD?

    • dan

That one needs to be left alone. There isn’t a Mario after that which matched the feeling of Mario 64.

  • ANON
  • only god can judge me

Today I have bought the wii u deluxe for the first time along with super mario bros and tom clancy splinter cell and after playing I am in love with the wii u already despite the negativity publicity surrounding it I am enjoying this console.

    • olden

      Welcome friend.

      • only god can judge me

        Thankyou very much

  • sup3rnoah

pre ordered my copy today :)

  • smashbrolink

    Can’t wait for it.
This and A Link Between Worlds are two of my most anticipated titles.
