Assassin’s Creed 4 for Wii U delayed in the UK

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag for Wii U will be delayed in the UK.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for the Wii U has been delayed in the UK. The game was previously scheduled to be released on November 1st, but instead it will be released on November 22nd. This delay does not apply to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the game, which will launch on November 1st. The North American Wii U release date remains unchanged for October 29th.

A brand new trailer for the game can be seen above, showing off great pirate battles. This delay probably has something to do with the announcement Ubisoft has made stating that they are making framerate and performance improvements for the Wii U version of the game. Are you upset by the almost month delay in the game for the UK? Let us know in the comments.

Here come the delays again. At least they have a good excuse for it.

    • Marcus Navarro

      My thoughts exactly.

    • ScrewAttack

      Yeah…same.

    • Gotallofthem

What Delay? I’m going to be able to pick up the game exactly when they said they would release it Oct 29th …….

      • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s being delayed in the UK. Lol. It helps to read the article.

    • Michael DeVore

I’m not sure if I buy this reason. If they needed to delay to improve the game then why delay EU, and not EU and NA. This sounds like there maybe a serious bug, not just frame rate improvements, and they already have the NA discs printed. They can’t afford to sit on the NA stock for long so it ships on time, but with a bug that justified not releasing it for EU until it was cleared.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, bugs and framerate issues do go hand in hand so to speak. So the excuse is reasonable.

        • Michael DeVore

True, but poor frame rate is hardly an excuse to avoid launching on time unless it’s unplayable, or ruins the experience. For example, Diablo 3(PC version) has a small stutter bug if you don’t have a high end hard drive, but unless you’re a high end player it won’t ruin most the the game experience. However, Skyrim for the PS3 becomes practically unplayable unless you have a high end drive, and that should have been delayed, but wasn’t.

The concern is if NA gets a horrific, buggy, unplayable version for NA, or is Ubisoft just being overly picky, and it’ll play just fine, but wants to give a better impression where it can afford to.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

They want all versions to look polished as possible, so a delay is necessary to fix the frame rate issues that have plagued it. Unless you’d rather have a game that has constant popups with it’s visuals. PS3 version of Skyrim wasn’t delayed most likely because either Bethesda was too eager to make profit from it or didn’t foresee any issues with frame rates.

You might be right, but I doubt it has anything to do with the NA version, otherwise that’d be delayed too. I take it you’re from the UK?

  • Shota

    too bad.

  • SonicLucario

Well it can show the average consumer that the WiiU is a next gen console to the people in the UK

    • Daniel Gonzalez

How so? Do you mind explaining what you mean?

      • Marcus Navarro

I believe he thinks that because Ubisoft’s delaying it to make improvements, the Wii U version will show how much more powerful it is than the X360 and PS3. That’s what I got out of it, anyway.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Since it’s a multiplat, I don’t think it’s going to show that much if that. They never do. Only games that will are exclusives.

          • ScrewAttack

Which is a massive shame, but what can you do.

      • SonicLucario

well the way I see it is that its being released along side with the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, that’s just the UK really. Plus, multiplat games never show their full potential since they were developed on one console and ported over to the others. So you won’t see much of a difference. Even PS4 and Xbox One will most likely be the same case. Their exclusives will shine over the rest.

          • Baum 「ツリー」

Well IF there’s a significant difference between PS3/X360′s and Wii U/PS4/XONE’s and Wii U looks as good as the other two, people will understand how much better the Wii U really is in comparison to “current-gen” (wich shouldn’t be a problem since I guess the biggest difference between the games on those consoles and Wii U will be the size of area’s and I doubt they’re doing more for the other two next-gen systems)

          • SonicLucario

I agree with you 100%, Im just saying that the average or casual gamer wont really notice the differences between all the versions but this move will make the WiiU version stand out from the 360 and the PS3 version

  • Ducked

Framerate improvements, that’s a good thing.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Of course. However, no game will ever be free of framerate issues. Happens on and off. I applaud Ubisoft for trying to keep their games polished.

      • Ducked

Agreed, at least they’re keeping things in check.

  • discuss

Only the UK has framerate issues then? Do they even have special TV’s?

    • Sdudyoy

No it release’s October 29 in the US so it will be released after the framrate issues are fixed.

      • Sdudyoy

Wow I’m retarded I have an odd tendency into mixing up and thinking October comes after November, I always have and I probably always will.

  • Theiz Zzee

So is the North American one delayed too??? If, not it seems odd to me another english version would need to be delayed. Wouldn’t both suffer this issue? Unless they needed more time for localization on top of this would be the only thing that makes sense to me.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Just the UK version.

      • Theiz Zzee

I forgot about the different release dates.

    • Sdudyoy

The game comes out at a later date in NA then the delay so by then the game will already be fixed.

      • Theiz Zzee

        I see.

      • YogiGRB

no it does not, it is delayed to nov 22nd. Oct 29 is almost a full month in advance

edit: weird my post came dubble

  • Yoboyjohn

Am I the only one happy about this? I’m kinda happy that their putting some sort of effort into the wii u version, especially when it has to deal with far rate.anyone else knows how bad the frame rate was on ac3

  • Guest

People, they delayed Rayman a stupidly long amount of time to release it on every system and now they delay the Wii U AC IV??? Is there some kind of anti Nintendo conspiracy in the UK? HOW can they fix the framerate of the game for the UK version only if it’s gonna release early everywhere else? What’s happening QSADOASD?

    • Gotallofthem

Sorry pal, you’ll get no sympathy from me, You guys got W101 before I was able to get it here in the states, so we’ll call it even now :)

      • ICHI

Not quite, I’d rather have the wonderful 101 :-)

      • disqus_jnx8BgXLZd

lol, I’m not from the UK, but it does concern me (as much as DK TF’s delay) as it can affect Wii U sales this xmas. I get American release dates here where I live most of the time =)

        • disqus_jnx8BgXLZd

ANd I accidentally deleted my original comment!

    • Jon

oh no, they delayed it 3 weeks….

  • Baum 「ツリー」

Wow…didn’t know about that. Is this really just for the UK or the PAL regions in General?

  • The True Gamer

I think Nintendo is losing some of their advantage with the Wii U with multiplatforms when PSVita remote play for ps4 launches. I’m sure it won’t be as reliable as Wii u, but I think if it works without too much lag many potential Wii u buyers could move to ps4.

    • Michael Ocampo

i don’t think the PSVita’s remote play can play Mario Kart 8 or Smash Bros. so….

      • The True Gamer

Yeah, I mean the non Nintendo fans. Wii u had a really great feature of playing third party games without a tv, and Sony kind of took that, and make it with so it operated with any wifi connection.

        • RoyRelapse

Pssshhhttt….Don’t forget that the Vita has no R2 and L2 buttons, which makes a lot of games unplayable.
          -Sony’s little secret.

          • The True Gamer

Forgot about that……I feel glad for not buying a vita.

          • RoyRelapse

Oh well, Sony likes to announce things without the negative side effects, thats why the PS4 is more hyped.

      • SonicLucario

        ahhhh shit

    • Wayne Beck

We’ll see. The one time they have actually showed it in action, it looked good, but I can pretty much guarantee that setup had its own dedicated Wifi to prevent the inevitable lag that will be inherent in the connection. The Wii U has to ping itself something like 80 times a second to keep it at 1:1.

More power to Sony if they can actually pull it off. What concerns me more about it is Sony’s perpetual lack of support for it’s console features. They have a very bad habit of creating something, PS Eye, PS Move, PS Home, PS Network, saying Hey look what we made and never helping anyone figure out how to use it. How many people are actually aware that Playstaion 3 actually has multiprofile support? No one.

      • The True Gamer

Very true. Sony seems to never stick with the projects it starts. I doubt the PSVita remote play will be as quick as Wii U, just because the Wii U controller is generally the main input for games, unlike the PSVita.

    • Gotallofthem

      Ummm….no

      • The True Gamer

Say what you want, but I once considered buying a Wii u just so I could play third party games without a tv.

  • ICHI

Who the sh!t is Ed Thatch?! I thought blackbeards name was Edward Teach?

  • iamserious

Wait so the US version doesn’t have any issues with frame rates right? Or are they releasing it in states as is with performance issues and fixing it for UK?

    • Jon

it could be an issues with NTSC vs PAL

  • Arthur Jarret

So only the UK version is delayed, the rest of europe will get it on time?

I mean, seriously… who cares about that small island compared to the much larger mainland europe? I never hear specific sales news from the Netherlands, Italy, Greece or Portugal. It’s always england this, england that…

Well, I say phooey! England hasn’t produced anything amazing since Monty Phython.
    Except Dr.Who, of course.
And all books by Terry Pratchett.

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

News like this doesn’t surprise me anymore, I would be more Surprised if a game get’s released on time. The delay probably applies to all of Europe but for some reason Americans think the UK is Europe instead of UK is a “small part” of Europe, I’m used to these mistakes by now, again I would be surprised if someone says Europe including UK instead of UK as all of Europe :P

  • Petri

    That’s cool.
I have way too many games to play this month anyway.
And still haven’t finished AC 3.

  • Guest

    why am i not surprised?

  • Sdudyoy

The fall update is out or whatever it is now and it comes with the ability to play Wii games on the the gamepad.

  • Sydney Ultrasyd

That’s OK, the “best versions” are released on the same day :D Xbox one, Wii U, PS4, PC. Nah, seriously, at least I hope the Wii U version is, for once, more optimised and use the hardware better : ) Can’t wait ! Pirate is a good universe for a game. Last time for me was … Monkey Island 2 !
