Batman Arkham Origins will be cheaper on Wii U

Batman Wii uWarner Bros Games have confirmed that the upcoming Batman Arkham Origins will actually be cheaper on the Wii U than on other current gen consoles. The Wii U version will retail for $50, while the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will cost $60.

The cheaper price is likely because the Wii U version doesn’t have online multiplayer. WB Games recently revealed that Arkham Origins on the Wii U will also be getting the season pass, which features a bunch of new content, including a new story campaign DLC.

The game launches on October 25 on the Wii U, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s one of the few multiplatform titles that’s actually coming to the Wii U this Fall. Be sure to check out the recent trailer of the game as well.

I would still rather have online multilayer then 10$ off, I don’t see why they got rid of it in the first place.

    • Archiq09

They think people on nintendo hate multiplayer… Wii u has no more games with mp it’s sure to Wii u has no more people in mp.

      • Sdudyoy

While I don’t like online multiplayer as much as local multiplayer It’s still nice to get on when you don’t have friends over or to test your skills on people all over the world, I don’t know how some developers get these crazy ideas in there heads.

        • Ducked

I’m with you, I think the best way to play multiplayer is when people are in the same room as you. Much more fun then playing with strangers, or over a mic. But I still like online to the side.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, if that’s your preference, then that’s good for you. Though, I also like playing with others around the world too. Best of both worlds.

          • Ducked

It is my preference, I said to the side lol

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

is my first option, i only live with my wife and my 3 years old princes.

          • Ducked

You have three three year olds?(lol I probably read that wrong)

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

            or maybe is my English.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

            i have a 3 years old baby

          • Ducked

Oh, you just have one 3 year old lol

        • greengecko007

“I don’t know how some developers get these crazy ideas in there heads.”

I’m sure it has nothing to do with they very vocal Nintendo fanboys on the internet going on and on about how online multiplayer isn’t something they would use.

          • Sdudyoy

Personally I’ve never seen anyone say that, I’ve seen people say that they wouldn’t mind either way, but I’m denying that it’s been said just didn’t think anyone would say something stupid like that.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s the problem I would say too. You don’t see many Nintendo titles with multiplayer that often. At least not enough.

        • Marcus Navarro

Yay! Just copy what Nintendo does! That’s what makes the money…right? Right?…

I’m sick to death of witnessing this kind of shit in just about every single area of expertise in the planet! “Well, if that’s what succeeded, then maybe I should do that too!” Even if it includes gimping the product to fit the pre-conceived parameters? Fuck lack of scruples.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Uhm……how much caffeine did you have this morning? Relax dude. Copy what exactly? I don’t even know what that has to do with this topic.

          • Marcus Navarro

None. No sleep. All I had was water and a packet of oatmeal.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well that explains it. Lol. Might be a good idea to take a nap or make sure you get a good nights rest.

          • Marcus Navarro

And your reason for asking that question was…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I didn’t know it was that hard to figure out. You were basically spazzing over something that was off topic. You chose to answer it. Is that reason enough for you?

          • Marcus Navarro

There’s correlation, and what things like non-MP Origins has in common with common practices is pretty obvious. Just making a connection. My point still stands.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s been common practice for a long time. Multiplayer has never been a big focus for Nintendo, and third parties are doing what they feel is right. Besides, not every third party does it, so your point is more in the middle to me.

I’ve been a Nintendo fan for years, and for the past few gens, it’s been this way. Nintendo games themselves never really had much mp, especially the Wii. Only games that I ever even did mp on was Smash Bros and Mario Kart Wii. So naturally, third parties feel that Nintendo fans don’t care for mp. Is it dumb? Yes and no. It may be annoying, but that’s the impression third parties get. It’s not going to change anytime soon.

          • Veries Seals

In the past this was true. But not currently. Their decision not to give us a multiplayer option was solely an in house decision from the external developer that WB has making the online multiplayer option for all of the consoles. This has nothing to do with Nintendo themselves. There could be a number of factors behind that decision. It is possible that the company may not be good at or never have developed nor optimized game code or anything multiplayer for the Wii U console in total. But it was said in a recent article that WB farmed out the multiplayer feature to a totally separate company. What everyone has to start to understand is that just because it is on a Nintendo console does not mean Nintendo is involved with that games development. To be honest Nintendo has nothing to do with most of the games options and features, that is up to the development houses creating the game.

          • Marcus Navarro

So it’s fine if 3rd parties just emulate Nintendo?

          • Ace J

dude thats exactly what i had for breakfast lmao

        • Ducked

It seems Nintendo is focusing a lot on local multiplayer instead, if you look at Super Mario 3D World and DK CR Tropical Freeze.

        • RARE

Except every first party WiiU game with the exception of Wind Waker HD has offered multiplayer…

        • Squid

We need awesome online Smash soon.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            No doubt.

      • Wayne Beck

This probablly has a lot more to do with the setup of the Nintendo Network than them having an ill conceived notion of Nintendo gamers not liking online. They would most likely have to build a Nintendo version from the ground up and they already had to farm out the PS/Xbox multiplayer. PS3 had a similar problem early on because it’s online system was not built the same way as Xbox’s. It’s also possible that the outside studio developing the multiplayer does not know how to develop on Nintendo or isn’t an approved developer. I’d be willing to bet we will see a lot of multiplayer patches come when Nintendo releases the overhauled Nintendo Network.

    • Ducked

Same here, but at least were getting a discount

  • therealruben1

Now il’l defiantly be getting this game

    • wiiudaily

      You’re so defiant!

Cos no online mode in Wii U version for this game so made sense have cheaper then other versions for price.

Well who care about Online mode. I still getting Xbox 360 version because achievements system and play with friends over online mode.

    • rp17

“Well who care about Online mode. I still getting Xbox 360 version because… play with friends over online mode.”

      Um, what?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, didn’t get it either. Might be possible that english isn’t his first language.

        • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

isn’t for me too, is more difficult for me to understand what he say.

    • Marcus Navarro

Great job contradicting yourself right there, buddy. If you don’t care about the online mode, then why are you getting the X360 version for it?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

I would guess to play online.

        • Marcus Navarro

He never hints at just owning a single system.

Also, “Well who cares about Online mode. I still getting Xbox 360 version because achievements system and *play with friends over online mode.*” Downplays online mode, lists online mode as a reason to get the game. How is that NOT contradiction?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Possibly, or perhaps he wasn’t too clear. From his typing he doesn’t sound like he’s from an english speaking country. Just my two cents.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

yes, i like when it’s raining, but you know something, i hate raining days.

      • starwars360

I want to play online mode with friends over Xbox Live while doing multiplayer and earn achievements too.

I look forward many upcoming Wii U titles too. Anyway.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/purepuchi Severus Swerve

When I played Asylum and City I never thought to myself “MP would make this better”. Sure, it’d be a nice touch but not neccicary. Hopefully Warner won’t do it again.

  • John Andalora

City was good enough for me. My friend will be getting Origins for Xbox, and I don’t really need to get it.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ll be getting it for PC. Chances are I won’t bother with the multiplayer.

      • John Andalora

My friend’s more the Batman fan. I played City with him, and I must say it was quite an amazing game. Glad I got to play it, but I’m gonna save my money for other games that’ll come out.
        Hope you enjoy it!

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Thanks. Will do. :)

  • Baum 「ツリー」

Well although I really don’t mind that there’s no multiplayer I know that many People wanted it.
Good move that they’re selling it at a lower Price, but next time the whole Thing WB, ‘kay? You already got us DLC (ALTHOUGH!! it’s already ON THE DISC, so I guess that doesn’t really coun’t), so get your shit together and let Wii U owners enjoy MP next time ^^

  • D Moness

quote “It’s one of the few multiplatform titles that’s actually coming to the Wii U this Fall.”

At the moment of the 13 multi platform games 4 aren’t coming (F1 2014, battlefield 4 , rocksmith and wwe 2k13). So I wouldn’t call 9 out of 13 releases a few but then i see who wrote it so not to surprised the person didn’t look to deep into this.

    • Merrfn

      Jonathan Kingsley that cheeky bugger…

  • SonicLucario

I just went to GameStop today because I pre-ordered this game 2 months ago and moved the 10$ to Wind Waker

  • Robert Distefano

    Good!

  • Connor Devlin

Why no online multiplayer? Thee Wii U could do it! Nintendo, please, your just burying your console deeper!

    • Deadpool U

This wasn’t Nintendo’s decision they have no control over this.

      • Connor Devlin

        Oh, seriously? Cool.

    • TCar

Um, no. I am more likely to buy a game that excludes online junk than one that has it.

      • John Andalora

Why? It’s not like there’s anything to lose from having Online multiplayer, and if the argument is that it’s $10 bucks cheaper, I rather spend more on more content than vice versa.

        • TCar

I buy games to challenge the developers and their talents with making games. There are some games that having online makes sense, most of them just doesn’t make sense. If it costs $10 just for the exclusion of online, imagine what games could cost with the behind the scene stuff taken out!

          • John Andalora

Do you honestly not think that a 3 vs. 3 vs. 2 is not something that would “challenge the developers and their talents with making games”?
I mean having people play as villains fighting each other while some people play as Batman and Robin to try and stop them all sounds rather amazing to me, and if that was a $10 standalone thing I would be purchasing that day one.

And, to be terribly frank, that wouldn’t change costs substantially to get rid of multiplayer. Developers would probably then just divert the cost of multiplayer to improved animation and more “behind the scene stuff”.

      • Connor Devlin

Yeah, but there are tons of people who are going to trash the console because of this.

        • TCar

They can trash the system all they want, it isn’t Nintendo’s fault. I for one applaud them for getting rid of it. I hate all of the online junk they put on games these days and in fact, usually won’t buy games if their focus is online play! Why should my enjoyment be based off other people playing against me online, shouldn’t it be about the actual game they are trying to sell me? Also, why should I have to pay for something I would never use? If anything, to appease the masses, they should have it as an add-on for those whom want to pay for it.

          • Connor Devlin

Alright, yeah, I get your point! Totally agree!

  • EricNavedo

    Forgot*

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I say they did the right thing. If there’s no multiplayer, then make it cheaper. $50 sounds reasonable.

    • Jared Garcia

In my perspective, I felt MP wasn’t right for the Batman game anyways.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

I agree, but at least you’re not paying the full $60 for the game.

        • Jared Garcia

Finally a perk for not getting something. I wouldn’t mind paying just 50 bones for games again… as long as the core game isn’t tampered with anyways.

  • Merrfn

Well this is toned down abuse, but still abuse non-theless. I am sure that people would prefer multiplayer for the game then a $10 price drop. Props to warner bros for not taking multiplayer away without a price drop. But still…

    • Marcus Navarro

Let’s copy what Nintendoes! If Nintendon’t multiplayer and their games still sell like a fine ass in jail, then maybe we shouldn’t include it!

      Logic. It’s not very effective…

      Multiplayer developed by Splash Damage…
      Or 10$ off…

It’s like choosing between torture and date with Jessica Alba.

I feel that same way with special editions for many games. Only time they’re worth it if it’s some kinda action figure or other worthy collectibles.

      • Møhåmmęd Jårmøn

Yeah like Arkham City is one if the best games if this generation and it didn’t have MP

Maybe someone ripped out all of the darkness, hatred, and sarcastic remarks right out of Ashley. And created a human life form known as John Kinsley.

  • SamusPrime

This is excellent news, since I planned on buying this game anyway.

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

So because wiiu owners get an incomplete game they get $10 off? Sounds logical but we want complete games, after 3 weeks of the launch date Warnerbros says wiiu sales where dissapointing and therefor they won’t bring any other games to the system except scribblenauts unmasked. Why do wiiu owners get so mistreated? Seriously thinking that almost everyone (developers) want wiiu to fail and they help out by ignoring the system delay for months and months and bring incomplete games.
    Thanks a lot >_< '

    • fireheartis1

Too be far the main story mode which is always the main focus on a Batman Game is coming complete. Plus we do get the season passes so it’s no that big of a lose to loose online multiplayer.

  • everyone

Not a bad buy if you preorder on Amazon. 49.99 plus a $10 credit on future purchases.

  • Cyberus

Is this game good? Can someone give me an overview

    • Petri

Since it’s developed by different studio, I cant let my hopes up.
But Batman Arkham Asylum was one of my favorite games on PS3.
Online component is developed by studio behind Brink.

Just have to wait and see with this one.

  • Stephen Davis

If I were Nintendo I would tell them to go to hell. And say to take your sorry half ass excuse for a game somewhere else.

  • Jizzy Me

Wii U, always makes games worst.

    • TCar

It isn’t the Wii U or Nintendo, it is the lack of people that feel the need to connect to the internet to play a game. I don’t want to pay for a service I will never use, for that I thank the price drop and the loss of the precious multiplayer. I just might actually get this game now.

    • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

    No online. No sale.

  • TCar

Why is online so frigging important. It is going to be the same exact game as the other versions yet this one automatically sinks because it doesn’t have online. Since when did games become more about who your playing against and less about how good the game is?

  • Petri

I wonder if I have to ask my retailer to lower their price.
They have actually went up by 1€ since I pre-ordered it.

Though I would be willing to pay for them to keep that part of game developed by Splash Damage off the game.
If the main game is anything like previous games, this will make me one happy Wii U owner.

  • brian

“is likely because”… it says it right there in the press release. It’s not “likely because”, it IS because.

My local game and hmv has the pre order deathstroke DLC sticker on the Wii u versions
Also seems there isn’t a special edition for Wii u either

  • OnlyNicos

Cool, I don’t really mind not having mp anyways, the series never called for it. The multiplayer will prob. be like tomb raider’s anyway. That game had an amazing story with the being multiplayer ehhhh.

  • leo

They probably took out of MP because there would be a lack of players

  • WiiUFTW!

(off-tpic) will watch dogs (wii u) have pro controller support?

  • The True Gamer

I feel bad for Wii U owners. It strange that developers don’t make certain features for Wii u. I’m sure it will sell great in a couple months, and by then developers probably won’t cut features for any multiplatform games coming to 360 and ps3 also.
