When Nintendo first revealed Miiverse, they showed off the cool social network running on a variety of devices, including the 3DS, tablets, and smartphones. But it’s been almost a year, and we still don’t have access to Miiverse on our iPhones and Android devices via dedicated apps. This will change “soon”, according to Nintendo.
During an eShop presentation at The Indie Games Collective event in the UK, Nintendo of Europe’s Business Development Manager, Ed Valiente, said that we can expect Miiverse apps on smartphones, tablets, and the 3DS “soon”. Miiverse has been available on smartphones via a browser since April, but a dedicated app would make things much better (not to mention smoother).
Nintendo has previously said that Miiverse will arrive on the 3DS in 2013, and that smartphone apps were in development. Hopefully we’ll see the apps by the end of the year. But, as we all know, “soon” in Nintendo-speak could mean tomorrow or next year. We’ll let you know as “soon” as the apps are available.
