Monster Hunter 4 will feature Mario, Luigi, and Zelda themed items [VIDEO]

On Sunday, A Japanese Nintendo Direct was held to give more details on the upcoming title, Monster Hunter 4. Perhaps some of the coolest editions to the newest entry in the Monster Hunter series are new items inspired by Mario, Luigi, and Zelda.

Below is a video recording from Sunday’s Nintendo Direct. At the beginning you can see new Mario and Luigi Felyne costumes for companion characters. If you skip ahead to about 24 minutes into the video, you will see a Link costume and other Zelda themed weapons that can be equipped by your character.

Monster Hunter 4 is set to release on Sept. 15 in Japan for Nintendo 3DS, with no tentative release dates for any other regions. Does the inclusion of these new Nintendo themed items make you want to play this game even more? Let us know in the comments.

Personally, I’d love to use a Hylian shied and the Master Sword to take down some of these behemoths.

I might have to go back in and practice with the sword and shield.

Looks interesting, but the noises those cats make is super annoying. When I was playing MH3U on my Wii U, my cat was constantly going crazy anytime those cats were near me.

    • Baum 「ツリー」

…there are no Felyne companions in Ultimate ^^

But those Little fuckers were always friggin’ annoying AND stupid in comparison to the Shakalaka in Tri. There are a lot of People, who like them more though and I can’t understand why xD

      • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

They’re not companions, but they’re in the game as farmers and some mobs you can kill. Any time I was around them, the cat went crazy.

        • Arthur Jarret

The same happened to me… well, she went crazi-er, as my cat is already completely nuts.

    • Schultz38

It annoyed the crap of me in MH Freedom Unite (they were the companions in that game). I looked in the settings multiple times to see if I could mute them. Usually I’d get so into the hunt I’d end up not hearing them, though.

Guess you gotta be a cat fan, personally I love the kitty side kicks

  • Felix

so basically now we have mario shit even in other games. great nintento, great. more mario stuff is all we need. why not another 20 mario games in 2014?

    sigh…

    • TaintedXGamer

you should be glad it’s just Costumes, at least it’s not Mario/Nintendo Hunter 4 lol……wait that sound wrong….

  • Arthur Jarret

If they added nintendo characters… they really should have added some pokemon as monsters!

I’d love to murder a Venusaur or Blastoise!!!

Anyway – I’m a big fan of the franchise, the costumes don’t matter to me as I already wanted this to come to the west badly… I want the MMO to come to europe and the US too!

    • Baum 「ツリー」

They aren’t adding any Nintendo Characters…

      • Arthur Jarret

Sure they are… to get any armor or weapon in a monster hunter game, you first have to hunt the monster that resembles that armor over and over again to get the materials… as such, I fully expect a giant green-clad fairymonster and a giant red sewage beast.

        • Baum 「ツリー」

I hope you’re either trolling or just never played a MH game…because that’s VEEERY inaccurate.

          • CEObrainz

That’s pretty accurate. To get Rathalos armour you need a bunch of stuff from a Rathalos as well as some other materials. Stuff like the Master Sword and Hylian Shield will most likely come from tokens that you get for completing specific quests.

          • Arthur Jarret

            Nah man,

I’m calling it; it’ll be a green clad fairy monster that screams magical words at you.

The red sewage monster will also be there – not to mention a green flying spaghetti monster with a manly ‘stache.

          • Arthur Jarret

It’s pretty accurate as the other replier already mentions. Each piece is mostly based on the monster you use the materials from – with the exception of some event quest rewards, where IOU’s, tickets or coins are a quest reward and required for crafting.

Also, you’re using the word ‘trolling’ wrong.

  • Mario

That just makes me want the game even more.

  • asdfasdf

why isn’t the biggoron sword a great sword?

  • MissFlesh

I’m so buying this game if the Link costume becomes available in Europe.

  • Ross Brocklesby

Please bring it to wiiU, I think the entire WiiU fanbase wants it and will buy. MH4U!

    • WiiUisgaming

Not really, I didn’ like monster hunter

      • Ross Brocklesby

Clearly you are in a minority, even for to comment on a post about monster hunter is pointless. The games are fantastic. The sense of reward you get is better than any game anywhere on any platform. I’m not a MH fanboy neither I’m relatively new to MH. Before this is was a massive CoD fan. I gave MH a try and have been addicted ever since.

        • Arthur Jarret

It’s an awesome game – and judging by sales numbers of the wii u version vs. the number of wii u owners – the game did very well.

I’ll get 4 for 3DS once it releases in the west, but would prefer to pick up and play an 4th gen wii u version at some point (I do hope it will be different… like portable 3rd is to Tri)

  • YogiGRB

Fighting with the mastersword …. in MH … woehoo, yes

  • pacheco90

They just won a lot of costumers with this.

  • ZeldaFanzzzz

I’m just gonna wait for a release on the Wii U, love playing on the big TV, lol

  • CEObrainz

It’s funny how this may be the first time you can legibly be a female Link.

  • Merrfn

I feel so special when he bows to me…
