Here’s a look at Nintendo’s PAX booth

20130830_152456

PAX Prime is always great fun for the general gaming population and while some announcements often come out of the show for indie developers, it’s usually a place for the big three to strut their stuff and show off upcoming games to the general public without much hassle. We didn’t attend PAX this year, but a good friend did and managed to snap these pictures to show off Nintendo’s huge booth.

As you can see people are enjoying playing several upcoming Nintendo games and some patrons of the show even got their hands on copies of The Wonderful 101 two weeks early, as Nintendo had copies to sell ahead of the September 15th street date. You can even see a Nintendo 2DS being held to get a better idea of the size of the device.

Thanks, Richard!

Really digging all the Wonderful 101 love in these pictures. The backdrop looks amazing and it looks like it was drawing quite the crowd. Unite-Hype! Simply can’t wait to get my hands on this game (especially with several of our EU friends talking so highly of it in the comments here on wiiudaily)

    • Rukiafan Rukiachan

I really prefer the Pikmin 3 stand of E3

      • uPadWatcher

The creator and Global President/CEO of NoA. LOL!

      • kevin nun—-

        isn’t it the same?

    • Magnus Eriksson

Throwing in a little half-related poll here.

Are you satisfied with Wii U? Upvote for yes, downvote for no. My vote is a downvote (cant vote myself).

      • Derk

I am happy with my Wii U because I have Call of Duty Black ops 2…
Right now, that is the only game that I play on my Wii U…

      • Josiah Parsons

Yes you can vote yourself! I just upvoted this comment.

  • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

Yeah, Nintendo definitely don’t advertise Wii U. C’mon guys. It’s games for the Wii nah? So, no need to see?

After all these month I have the feeling the world made a coalition against Nintendo’s new home console. Seriously, peoples know now what’s the Wii U, so why aren’t they buying? Maybe Aliens got their brains.

    • Felix

i wish i could return my wii u… i would buy a ps4 instead without think. its not like everyone is against nintendo, is more like nintendo is against everyone, even their clients.

      • BIG Franky

i seriously dont understand these people that limit themselves to one console…. get both!

        • Felix

yea, probably! when i got the wii u i said: ok… if the ps4 is good enough to purchase i will keep the wii u for party/local multiplayer games and the ps4 for hardcore online games like FPS (so i dont feel like i bought the wii u for no reason).

BUT…… the wii U only have nintendo land and SMBU as local multiplayer/family games. Only those! and its not like they worth as hell. so thats why i would return my wii u and not have 2 consoles at the same time. because the games on wii u -FOR ME- are not that great.

          • Emufred

so none of the upcoming games interest you? not even X? D:

          • Felix

yes, X does! but its like 2 years wait xD i want X and donkey kong at least. but even if 1st party are good, console needs 3rd parties too…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep, 1st parties aren’t enough. Need both, not just one. I wouldn’t buy a PS4 if it didn’t have 3rd party either. Nintendo needs to get with it now and not later.

          • jrob23

I know, the W101, Rayman Legends, Watchdogs, COD Ghosts, Sonic Lost Worlds, AC4, Arkham Origins, Deus Ex, Bayonetta 2, Splinter Cell Blacklist. Man, I wish they’d get some 3rd party love already

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Games you named are current gen third party. Which doesn’t help Wii U’s so called next gen. While ps4 and xbox one have games that will be on ps3 and 360, they do have their own exclusive next gen games. Plus the games you mentioned aren’t likely to sell more than the 360 and ps3. Your argument falls flat. Good try, though.

          • jrob23

ha ha whaaaaa???? OMG. So, the Wii U has no exclusive ‘next gen’ games of it’s own? Pikmin 3, W101, Lost Worlds, Bayonetta 2, ‘X’, Super Mario 3d World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, etc are all coming. Just like Halo 5 (Microsoft exclusive) is next gen and only coming to Xbone, the same is true of the above mentioned. So not one 1st party Wii U game that is coming out is ‘current/past’ gen as you are trying to say. Ha ha. I love how you go out of your way to talk down about Nintendo and give them zero credit. You are such a great ‘fan’ of Nintendo. But I am bored now, proved my point. Isn’t their a PS4 Daily site you could be on?

          • Felix

            pikmin 3 -> OK game.
W101 -> i played the demo and i didnt like it, but nice try.
lost worlds -> another sonic, same as always.
            bayonetta 2 -> 2 years yet?
            X -> 2 years yet?
SM 3D W -> another mario, same as always
DKTF -> not released, but a good local multi i guess

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Oh look, an unbiased opinion. Well said. I agree with it, they’re okay games but they’re not that appealing to me. We’ll see what they have next year to offer.

          • Felix

im gonna buy donkey kong as i said. but to me, pikmin and donkey kong are too far from system sellers. come on, pikmin and W101 sold SHIT in japan. but yea… we are all bad fans and writing biased opinions on wii u fan sites. right? xD

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Mario, Zelda and Pokemon are the biggest, but I think Super Mario 3D World is a step down compared to the Galaxy games. At one one point we were biased, but we grow up and learn to be fair on both ends. :P

          • tomtank91

I think everyone was expecting a proper 3D mario but I’m happy it’s not another Galaxy. I loved the games but no.2 was nowhere near as good as the first, so making a third I can’t imagine where Nintendo would go with it. Super Mario 3D World should have been the mario launch title.

          • Veries Seals

I dont think you are a bad fan as much as you are not looking at the total library that is currently out for Wii U, that is not even including the games coming out that are being mentioned. There are tons of games to try for Wii U that are out now. Most of them actually have good scores even by the likes of reviewers for IGN. Most Wii U games gets ratings of 7 and above from IGN if you look at the scores. Is it possible that we may be letting out bias of poor sales for the console cloud our judgement and are not allowing us to enjoy the system for the goodness that is already available. I have stated many times that I love my Wii U. It is not a PS4 nor an XBox One, but that is what I love about it. If all consoles were carbon copies what fun would that be? Am I right. Like I said there are over 60 titles for the Wii U out right now. I only hear debates about 10, and only 2 of that ten are released. Are we being fair or are we jumping on the bandwagon from people who has not had the joy of trying the full or even half the library that is out on the console? Can you really truly assess the console if you have not tried many of the games?

          • tomtank91

definitely aren’t system sellers I totally agree. But Pikmin 3 didn’t sell that bad in Japan.

          • jay

ummm… why are you gonna buy Donkey Kong if you’re supposedly returning your Wii U?

          • Felix

ummm… how do you return a 10 month-old console? hello? it was irony / a case?

          • jay

Yeah I figured you were trolling, cause I hear that crap every time I read troll comments. I’m sick of hearing “I’m return the Wii U loll”

          • jrob23

lol are you Daniel’s second account?

          • tomtank91

W101 demo was the only reason I brought the game. But it doesn’t suit everyone. But saying another Mario, another Sonic and waiting 2 years for X and Bayonetta 2 (which it won’t take that long) doesn’t make a game not next gen is being biased.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I never said anything about first party, I said third. Learn to read smart one. :) If you read previous comments in the past, you’d see that I also praised Nintendo. If you were smart, then you’d do your homework. Learn to look at it from both ends instead of judging so blindly. You just skim through comments that suit your argument, which is typical.

Nice job contradicting yourself over and over. Now, don’t you got a fanboy site to go to? I’ll leave you to you obvious fandom bubble that has no end. You’re no longer worth commenting on beyond this until you can say anything that is logical. Bye now. :)

          • tomtank91

When you say next gen what do you mean? So AC4, Watchdogs, COD Ghosts, W101, Sonic and Bayonetta 2 aren’t next gen??

          • jay

He named a buch of “next-gen” games, some of which will also be on ps4. Good try, though.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True, but will they get the next gen third partygames on ps4 and xbox one? Doubtful. Nice try back at you.

          • Felix

how many of those have been released? :)

and… how many of those worth buying?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’d rather buy Arkham Origins on PC or ps3 since it has online. Wii U doesn’t have that and isn’t worth the price tag. Plus Deus EX and AC4 I doubt will sell much on Wii U. Oh,that also includes Watch Dogs. All Wii U has basically is last gen 3rd party, not next gen. Plus how often does third party sell for Nintendo?

Only true positive side is their first party, but even that has failed so far.

          • jrob23

Okay Felix, er, I mean Danielle

          • tomtank91

how can you have next gen games when the whole of next gen isn’t out yet?

          • nameucanthate

For somebody who doesn’t own a Wii U, you sure talk about the games as if you’ve played every one of them. How has the first party failed so far? With Pikmin 3, and many more games to come, I doubt Ninty’s first party is going anywhere. AC4, Deus Ex, and Watch Dogs will sell plenty. Many Wii U fans I have discussed with are just as excited about Watch Dogs as any other gamer. Please stop going off of what the general media says. Many of those sites have been bought off by Microsoft and Sony.

          • Wayne Beck

Honestly, first party games are most certainly enough. A Couple of Third Party exclusives here and there are nice to round things out, but you buy Nintendo to play Nintendo. If they can keep up their new release pace, no one is going to care about third party support. They will once again turn an amazing profit with no need for third party support. Most third party games nowadays are just annual sequels now anyway. Not having Elder Scrolls and Boarderlands on my Nintendo kinda sucks, because those games would be better with the gamepad, but that’s why I have a Playstation.

For all their BS about Nintendo not consulting them about how the console is built or the specs just not being the same as the other console, the absolute truth is the number one reason Third Party Developers don’t put games on Nintendo is because they can’t compete with Nintendo’s software. Why? People buy Nintendo to play Nintendo.

          • tomtank91

but 3rd party does matter because that is what builds your console. If Nintendo could get every 3rd party game along with there 1st party they would out sell every console every generation. N64 and GCN didn’t sell anywhere near sony consoles (ps1&ps2) because of 3rd party games. That’s why me, you and many others buy more than one console.

          • tomtank91

Nintendos first party is great but that’s why alot of people will buy a PS4 or Xbox one for 3rd party because there 1st party games are not as many and only the odd few that are nearly or as good as Nintendos.

          • Andreas Sunde

Pikmin 3. W101. Wii Party U. Bumpies Party. Rayman Legends.

Honestly, if you just want party games, sell your Wii U and buy a Wii. I’ll be enjoying Rayman, Pikmin, Watch Dogs, Blacklist, Lego City, W101, Lost World, ACIV, DKCTF etc. etc…

          • Veries Seals

I own 39 Wii U titles now out of like 60 titles available through retail or E-Shop. Let me try to understand this better, there is only 3 to 4 titles out of 60 that you are interested in? Versus the 15 to 20 titles coming out for the PS4 in the launch window? 60 or 15. My second point is you are putting a lot of faith into a console that has not hit the scene, not have most of us experienced any of the games in depth even if you have played it for a minute at one of the exposure shows. Tell me, how do we know that the PS4 or the XBox One will have truly fun games? Sure I have seen some that peaks my interest, but to kick your Wii U out of the line up for something you have probably not experienced in depth may not be a good idea. That old grass is greener on the other side debate has a way of catching up with us. I will be going XBox One first then PS4 later, but my Wii U has given me great different game play that the other two will not offer. Why not enjoy them all? You can also think like this.. How many of the 15 to 20 of the PS4 or XBox One titles will actually be great games and worth keeping over 2 to 3 months times once they launch? Look at the game list and see. Newer does not equal good or even great.

          • Felix

well.. 60?! Some games are CRAP, for example 2fast2furious, that games is unplayable. epic mickey 2 is unplayable too due to fps drops. rabbids its shit, etc etc.

Well you get my point, you can say there are 60 but thats not true, there are around 30. And im not interested on 3-4 titles, as i said i own about 12 games and i enjoy some of them. But -TO ME-, those games are not worth buying a 300$ system. Thats just what im saying. Sure i enjoyed monster hunter 3 and zombie U, etc. But i would prefer -NOW- to sell the wii u and get a ps4. One year ago probably there wasnt better options than a wii u, thats why i got it. but now……

          • Veries Seals

Actually there are about 60 games out now and if there was only 30 how do I own 39? But I can feel your frustration on a few games. Yes the games you mentioned are sub par and I own one of the two that you mentioned. Lets use Epic Micky for example. I think it needs frame rate tweaks and better texture work. But lets be honest here. #1 Epic Mickey was made by Disney interactive and some sub par studio that they sub contracted the game out to to be made. #2 Epic Mickey is also multi-plat, which means if it ran bad on the Wii U it more than likely ran bad on the 360 or the other platforms as well. #3 it is just a badly made game in any respect. So my question is how does nintendo take the hit for simply courting 3rd party developers and making this particular game the 3rd party developer chose to make that particular game out of all the games they have produce for the Wii U? Nintendo really does get blamed for a lot of 3rd party blunders and half made software. Now if you think that the PS4 or the XBox One wont have bad games and shovel ware you have another thing coming. Look at Loco Cycle for the XBox one. Looks Horrendous and I want an XBox one! A horrendous game and the Console is not even out yet! Honestly knack for the PS4 looks nice but it seems pretty boring to be honest. Nothing revolutionary there. Back to Wii U you could have looked at 2 fast 2 furious, if you have been playing games long enough and tell that that game was crap! That coming with gaming experience. I have 26 years of gaming under my belt and own all of the systems. But case in point I think Activision made 2 fast 2 furious. Yet again nintendo is getting the blame for a 3rd party purposely putting a subpar game out for the console to cash in a quick buck. Activision knew that the name itself would sell the game. Activision has many good games they could have developed for the console and decided to port that one. Why? But that is two games out of 60 that you did not like. I ask again how many games out of the 15 or 20 PS4 or XBox One games are you going to truly like? You have not experienced them yet so why put all of your bets on those consoles which out trying all or most of the games and then make a judgement.

          • nameucanthate

Smash bros. and Mario kart? Dude, me and my buds played Smash for hours without realizing it, and we kept laughing and having a great time. I’ve made new friends over Smash brothers.

          • Felix

probably smash bros is the same thing as the wii version. same fun, better graphics, but ey, dont nintendo fans ignore graphics? :) or now they dont?

and mario kart is not a great thing. i already own sonic allstar racing and its more or less the same. plus, sonic one is a great game.

          • jay

Mario Kart series is way better than Sonic all star racing.

            Sorry Sonic fans!!

      • Magnus Eriksson

Agree on the last part. Nintendo have changed, and thats to the worse.

        • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

I have more the feeling that Nintendo haven’t changed a bit since 30 years. It’s the industry, it’s the world that’ve changed. But who can tell if it’s for the best?

Sometime, changing can be good, or not. Nintendo choosed to stay on the same path, but it seems to not work for Wii U.

          • Magnus Eriksson

The low sales and lacking 3rd party tells us something. Lackluster of games another thing. Shitty Virtual Console a fourth thing. Lacking TVii feature in Europe a fifth thing. Arrogance towards consumers who bought their product is a sixth thing. They have lied all the way, about upcoming games, third party support, features of the GamePad its ability to compete in terms of power with next gen. Outdated console locked sales of online buys. Region locked product. So there is quite a lot to pick from.

          • Felix

+1. i wont say wii u is shit and only have bad thigs. but definelitly this is 100% true

          • tomtank91

Nintendo set the standards for alot of what we see today when the n64 came out.

        • Andreas Sunde
          • Magnus Eriksson

Takk Andreas! Jeg skal lese den senere. Ser interessant ut.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s the big problem with the Big N. For them, Nintendo against the world. How well is that working for them? Well, sales with 3rd party says it all. Nintendo needs to stop being stubborn and suck up their pride.

      • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

People like you make me wonder why they jump into a new console release right away. Do you even have a Wii U or does it make you feel better to come here and say you wish you could give it up over and over.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

He just stated he did. Lol. He probably jumped into it because he thought Nintendo was going to deliver and promised 3rd party games, which they have failed to do. He has a right to his opinion on it, it’s what we all do on here Bob, and I happen to agree with him.

I guess I can say I’m glad I only played it over friends houses.

        • Felix

do you want a pic? i have a wii u and about 12 games.

not my problem if you cant face reality or others opinions.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Perhaps. Or they gathered enough info to know that it’s nothing they never seen before. That’s one way to look at it. It depends on the gamepad which is obvious how they put it in front of every Wii U box in stores. It’s a nice attempt I guess, but the fact is that most people already have an ipad, ipodtouch and android phones for examples. Plus one other issue is that the gamepad has only single touch rather than multtouch like tablets, so the tech is behind.

It was a nice idea for Nintendo to focus the Wii U around the gamepad, but the fact is, no one is really that interested in it. Off TV play is the only neat feature about it.

      • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

There is a reason the GamePad has a resistive touch screen and it is not because the tech is behind. Capacitive is nice but resistive can offer better accuracy and precision. Also I am sure it had to do with cost and functionality. Multi-touch and capacitive screen probably would not offer anything to gain a functional advantage. I guess that is why resistive screens are still used in many areas of technology and it is not because they are “behind the times”

As far as “Nothing they have never seen before goes” I do not see how the PS4 and XB1 has anything “new” either. I guess to some the same old way of playing video games is “new”. Put a controller in your hands and headset on and mash buttons while playing the latest FPS which is new but still the same but now with new responsive fish AI.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Of course they have nothing new, but then again, neither does Nintendo when you put it that way. We’ll never agree on this. Those technologies you speak of at least have multitouch. Nintendo took a step back, but hey to each their own, right?

I have to disgree with the gamepad not being behind, cause to the majority, it is and I agree with them. Even with that said, their focal point is not helping them sell the Wii U and it’s not only because games are scarce, there’s always more than one reason and what I brought up holds some truth in it.We can go all day about this so I’ll leave it at that.

Appreciate the mature discussion from you as usual. :)

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Well let me ask you this? Do you consider the touch screen radios and in-dash consoles that are found in many modern cars to be considered “behind the times” technology? Most (if not all) of them use resistive type touch with single touch capability type LCD screens. I think that the majority you are referring to that think this tech is behind the times is saying so just because the tech was around earlier. It all comes down to cost to functionality and the functionality did not need the multi-touch or capacitive type LCD so they kept the costs down. It all came down to the needs and the price point that the company wants to achieve.

Just for reference a resistive touch LCD can support multi-touch although it is not very common.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yes, I do since you brought it up, but hey that’s just me. I think that the Wii U gamepad is behind times. It’s an opinion, nothing more to read into that.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

See I just see it as using the technology that fits the needs of the device and the users that use it.

      • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

        Orrrrr….. a coalition. Definitely a coalition :3
(you got a point but still, that don’t explain everything. I can’t say more ’cause I just don’t understand why all that no-care D: )

        • Daniel Gonzalez

It doesn’t explain everything. It’s an educated guess. It’s not unheard of either for Nintendo to make a mistake. :P

          • jrob23

Dude, most articles I read on this site has you lambasting the Wii U. You do realize this is a Wii U site right? That fans of the system get their information and reviews from here? Why, if you don’t like or respect Nintendo especially re the Wii U, do you frequent here so much?
Honestly, you sound like you are trolling. We get it, you don’t like the Wii U and the gamepad.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yes, people come here for their reviews and news, but then again, so do I. I’m just not the everyday Nintendo fan that goes to extremes such as fandom nor do I go about insulting, they do that just fine on their own.

Above all, this is a site that has discussion, you can’t have positive discussion without a negative side now can you? No one likes one-sided conversations just diehard fanboys. I don’t paint pretty pictures for people on here, I live in reality. If you don’t like what I have to say, then I’ll tell you what I say to anyone who doesn’t appreciate my words, move along and don’t pay attention to my posts. It’s that simple. You have your free speech, I have mine. :)

          • jrob23

A Nintendo fan? Hmmm…debatable. You say in so many words they have no idea what they are doing yet they ‘won’ the last gen. You say they have no 3rd party games yet they do have several top games coming over the next few months, and besides, they never relied on that for their success in the past. You say the gamepad is weak yet it’s easily the best use of a second screen on home consoles and the others are trying unsuccessfully to implement their own i.e. Vita, Smartglass. I mean, it really doesn’t sound like you ARE a fan. And if not, if you have zero positive things to say, it is annoying to see your face pop up being so negative on a Nintendo site. But whatever, if you think you like Nintendo (far be it from me to find anything positive coming out of your mouth) than to each his own I guess. Troll on!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

A true Nintendo fan can be positive or negative. If you believe that Nintendo fans are those who defend their fandom like you, then you’re very delusional, and there’s not much to say to you then, have an open mind, I won’t hold my breath on that.

Unless you know me in real life, then your argument is nothing more than an opinion, to which is questionable as well. It is annoying to see people like you pop up with the same old story, but hey, I guess that’s a personal problem. If you aren’t for free speech, then we have nothing more to discuss.

You keep on your trolling, cause far as I can tell, you responded to me calling me a troll like a typical commentator on here. So who is the real troll. I guess you can troll on? :)

Your reasons are flawed, and should take your own advice. You’re done and lose credibility. So do yourself a favor and save what logic you may have left. Good day to you. :P

          • jrob23

            Be gone troll!

It doesn’t help that you mostly criticise most things about Wii U and you admit you don’t own one.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It doesn’t help fanboys on this site to attack anything negative towards the Wii U. I guess we all have our personal problems, huh? Last I checked, not everyone here owns one nor needs to own one to criticize. If that was true, then it would be a rule on here. Let’s be real now. It goes both ways awesome super hero. :P

          • jay

Dude you spewed so much bullshit in this thread I don’t even know where to start….

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I at least do research. Just like you haven’t even responded to the evidence in a previous post that clearly shows that The Last of US outsold NSMBU. Yet, I spew out stuff huh? Lol. Pot calling the kettle black as usual. You ignored it because you can’t take being wrong. I take it it’s hard for you to admit that.

If I spew out crap, that makes you a hypocrite. You can say what you like about me, but I at least call it down the middle instead of the sides, like yourself. You’re obviously the one starting up trouble by respondin when I nowhere near talk to you. At least when I do, I leave out insults and keep it mature.

How can you call yourself mature when you don’t even practice what you claim to preach? That makes you a complete hypocrite to the core. The only people that will agree with you are your silly extreme fanboy army.

Whether I’m hated or not, I could care less, people like you are the reason fanboyism exists so much over the net because you feel your info is right even when you don’t supoort it with sources almost never. No one gives you a hard time but yourself. :)

Whenever you claim something, back it up before you make such claims, otherwise, anything you say, is irrelevant. You’re done and over with and exposed for your ignorance on here. You can go back to your fanboy army now, while I have calm and mature discussions with respectful gamers. Bye now. :)

      • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, and thats not reason enough to buy an overpriced console. Because it is overpriced now that N. have been unable to show why the pad should be interesting. Soon a year is past and what we got is a serie of platformers and minigames, and remakes of old GCN games. None of them justifies the pad. Where is Metroid? That game could possible show the potential. Nah, its not good enough.

Also the ambassadors program on 3DS. They should rather have put it on the Wii U. They owe way more to the console supporters than to their handheld supporters.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Agree with everything you said. They’ve done very little with the gamepad. People always keep saying give it time, but the problem is, gamers don’t wait. They move on and find the next big thing. That’s how consumers are. Nintendo being in the business for over 30 years should know this.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        .

    • Magnus Eriksson

They are adverising games that should have been here almost a year ago. Where is the titles they had planned for now?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

You know Nintendo, always secretive, which is another problem with them. Kinda like how they hide their system specs.

        • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, but they are also sending out double messages. Look what Iwata and Anouma says about the new Zelda U game. Someone is not telling the truth, and my guess is Iwata.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Iwata I never liked much. He just seems to be a creep to me. I know a lot of people even like Reggie and I can at least respect him for his charisma, but he talks out of his pooter more often than his mouth. Him and Iwata should just admit that they screwed up with the Wii U. Of course they won’t, but it’d be honest PR rather than lying to the public.

          • Magnus Eriksson

I think they are destroying it by arrogance and ignorance.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True story. To me, the Wii U is just a 3DS home console without the 3D. That’s not really new or innovative. What’s the Wii U done that the 3DS hasn’t already?

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

By that logic the PS4 is just a PS2 with updated graphics, same with the XB1. What are they really doing that is any different than their past consoles?

Personally I love what the gamepad offers even if it is just a simple secondary screen for inventory and maps and some other control functionality. Sure it was inspired by the 3DS/DS which was inspired by the GBA to Gamecube Link before it.

It may not be for everyone but to call it the same old stuff is just not accurate.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It is old stuff. I don’t play favorites. Even Sony and Microsoft is guilty of it. Which is why I don’t fall for Nintendo’s business of being different.

Inspiration means about the same, the idea of the Wii U comes from the 3DS. Not that original, and that goes for their rivals too. I’m not here to say who is better, I call them all out.

          • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

Well I guess until holodecks are invented I guess we will have to settle for a little evolutionary steps in gaming. Still believe Nintendo is doing the best job of at least trying to think outside the box even if they draw inspiration from their past innovations.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

If you say so dude. I’m not one to judge what people think on tech, I just don’t see what they do as anything ground breaking. I don’t think there’s anything left to say on it, it’s just differences in opinions. Appreciate the respectful discussion.

          • Andreas Sunde

Occulus Rift is apparently the biggest thing in gaming since Super Mario 64.

          • nameucanthate

Then why don’t you ever mention when Sony or Microsoft mess up? Seems you like to downgrade Nintendo most :)

          • jay

C’Mon man!! He ain’t gonna admit to that!!

He reminds me of the idiots that claim Nintendo does nothing innovative then go on to praise sony.

          • Veries Seals

ok, you say that like its a bad thing. So if the 3DS is well liked for its game mechanics then that means the Wii U is equally great then right? You don’t always have to reinvent the wheel. Also if the Wii U concept was so bad, how come Sony is following suit and making us be able to play PS4 games by using Vita as a off TV play device. Let me let you in on Just a few great things about the Wii U that is over looked. It is a great console that has not been tapped graphically nor gameplay wise yet! It is totally backwards compatible with Wii Games and accessories which expands its game library even more. It is able to emulate all of the older nintendo consoles thats why you have an increasing library of VC games. The game pad is super comfortable and is a joy to play games on. It adds off screen game play with low latency. It had a pretty respectable game library with many indie developers jumping on board and it is not an over saturated console yet. I just feel like the over all potential for the Wii U is greater than the other 2 next ten consoles. All Three are next gen, not saying that you said they are not but some others don’t think so.

          • ICHI

I actually quite like Iwata sort of, he was a part of HAL labs which makes him a little cool and he knows how to poke fun at himself which is nice too. He also knows when to accept responsibility for his cock-ups but then he never outlines how he’s going to fix it which winds me up! I don’t think anyone could live up to Mr Yamauchi who operated the company like it was enacting the art of war on other companies, but then he played them into a corner and Nintendo hasn’t had a strong enough leader to really blaze a trail and create an environment for consistent success since. Its hard for a company to lead and dictate how a whole art/entertainment medium is to be run and then make one bad business decision changing forever how the business is run. If only Nintendo and Sony could have made the project reality, a reality. Today gaming would be a one horse race. I did like how Mr yamauchi made Sony look like dicks but only in how cool Nintendo was about the whole thing, as far as business went it was massly stupid and they’re still paying for it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I agree with the last part.

          • jay

            ummm Sony?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Sony what? Lol. At least say what you mean.

        • tomtank91

but a system isn’t about specs, it’s about games. This might sound abit stereotypical but if your arsed about specs get a PC.

    • Clel

To be fair, casual gamers don’t really go to PAX.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        This is true.

  • Toadlord

I wish tickets hadn’t sold out so fast for PAX. I swear, the people who got tickets must wait all year by their computers hitting refresh.

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

      That’s exactly what they do.

      • Toadlord

        I figured!

  • Ducked

    I like the Pikmin section

Already got mine on reserve! lol. Picked up my Rayman Legends today!

      • Patrick Francis

I bought Rayman Legends too, and I am pretty impressed ^_^. It is actually really fun.

        • Veries Seals

Yes! Gorgeous game as well. I am thinking hard about Disney Infinity. I have never tried a game like that before. I have enjoyed my Wii U since day 1.

  • FungalSpawn

    Nobody looks interested at all.

  • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

Nooooooooo Wii U is now DOOMED, curse you Microsoft D:
(hehe, 8 players on splitscreen. Genius)

  • Rugmouse

Going to +1 one this, solely because it is some of better trolling I’ve seen for some time (true trolling is a lost art – most people just put a bunch of !!!!111 behind language meant to attack someone’s opinion). At least you put in a little effort!

  • Andreas Sunde

    The PS3 supports seven…

  • Rugmouse

I’m not sure what you could have been expecting from a display booth.
Was there not enough scantily clad women waving you in (although I’m sure they were around there somewhere)? Or better yet, perhaps you
wanted a couple of freshly chummed shark tanks with humans swimming
around in the tanks for a little shock value. Of course there would be some pyrotechnics going on as well.

If that is how you base your reactions towards a display booth, I agree – the above photos are ‘meh’

  • Rugmouse

Whoa, calm down man – It’s clear that I recognized your comment as a joke. Why else would have I have given you a +1?

You articulated your post as a troll to the trolls…or a counter-troll if you will. I was giving you a compliment!

  • jay

Yeah I remember that. Did any games actually utilize 7 players?
