The Wonderful 101′s art style wasn’t always so bright

Director Hikedi Kamiya says that the art style for The Wonderful 101 was initially "a bit darker."

wonderful 101 2

The Wonderful 101 is a colourful game, but it wasn’t always this way. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Hideki Kamiya, developer for Platinum Games and the director of The Wonderful 101, revealed that the style was initially “a bit darker.”

The causes for the shift in contrast were twofold. Hideki himself wasn’t comfortable with the original look, and Nintendo preferred a friendlier first impression. He said, “I wasn’t really satisfied with it, and Nintendo said, ‘Why don’t you change it? Why don’t you find something with a broader appeal?’ And the result’s what you see now.”

Hideki said that Nintendo was never intrusive with their suggestions; they were only trying to help out. “Nintendo didn’t ask too much – the creativity of Platinum was totally respected by Nintendo throughout the process.”

In the end, he felt much more content with the brighter tones. “It feels like action figures moving about in the game.”

What are your thoughts on The Wonderful 101′s art style? Do you think it appeals to a wide audience? Would you have preferred a darker theme? Let us know in the comments!

    It’s appealing enough to me.

  • Yobrolo

always catering too the kids when making wii u games :(

    • Magnus Eriksson

Im 35. I think it looks great. You should play for the sake of fun, not what you believe others think is cool. :)

      • Yousif Alromaithi

I am glad you will pick it up, and I will pick up my pre order copy once it hits the US. The long wait is done.

      • jay

That’s because he’s immature. He needs guns and violence to feel manly.

        • Magnus Eriksson

Why give him labels? Do you know him? He is probably as fond of videogaming as the rest of us. He could be a potential friend.

          • The Clockwork Being

            Wise words Magnus.

          • jay

Anyone who bitches about colors is way below me. I don’t care who he is.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Means you’re closed-minded or expect people to agree to your ideals. Life don’t work that way. :)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What do you mean by, below you?

        • Elitepwnsface

Really dude. They do make a lot of games for a E for everyone rating. This includes children. I personally enjoy them though. I also love my violent blood gushing action adventures and jrpgs. Even a shooter every now and then.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

No, no dude. According to Jay, loving blood, gushing games is a sign of immaturity. Cause he says so. Liking both is not an option.

          • jay

Never said that dumb ass. Show me where.

I play mostly casual games but some of my favorite games of all time are Resident Evil 4 and Amnesia.

I just don’t get along with “H@rdc0r3″ gamers who think bashing pikmin is mature and playing violent games makes em tough.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

“That’s because he’s immature. He needs guns and violence to feel manly.”

You implied it. So yes, I agree. You’re an idiot who apparently can’t get over his hate for blood and gore games. So what if he called it for kids, that’s his opinion and he didn’t really bash it. You take it too serious. Plus, you never exactly asked him what he feels are mature games. So you jumped the gun as usual without thinking about that. Now say something relevant for once without hating on someones preferences. :P

          • Rukiafan Rukiachan

            Jay@

Off all people to comment, this guy is the least informative and
respected opinion. Considering this guy were here in these site trolling in all articles. So,leave this guy alone, its no worth you time…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            White Knights Unite? :)

If you think I’m the least informative, then that makes you the least relevant. Good day. You and Jay are a done deal. Anyone with any sense and isn’t a diehard fanboy knows you two are full of it, which show from other commentators and downvotes he’s received.

I at least come on here to be fair on both ends. While I criticize nintendo for the bad decision I feel they make, I also praise them when it’s due. If you kept up with past comments, you’d know that. Should look into that before passing judgment to someone you barely know. It saves you from looking baseless.

I’ll leave you to your obvious fandom. See you when you come back to reality and can respect everyones preference in games. :)

          • ScrewAttack

I disagree. You know everyone has their own opinion on things, and more often than not people don’t phrase what they say the way they mean it. I get what jay means, not everything has to be blood and guts all the time. With the vast majority of MS and Sony titles being just that, it’s nice to know I can rely on Nintendo titles for something different.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Different is fine. However, going about on a rampage and calling anyone who plays blood and gore as immature, is an immature statement in itself. Not all rated M games are full of blood and gore. That’s just the stereotype that people like to bring up.

Of course there’s idiots who act like blood and gore is the best, but you also get people like Jay who go to such extremes without even asking people why they feel such and such is a kids game or why they don’t care for such and such game. Instead it’s the usual baseless post to just hate on it. It doesn’t excuse anyones behavior. People can’t go around calling themselves mature without actually showing it themselves. If anything, they’re no better than those hardcore gamers they talk about so often. :P

I get that people had bad experiences with those types of gamers, but that doesn’t mean we should all attack anyone who doesn’t like your preference of games. It’s childish at best. Any comment I’ve made on here has a positive and a negative side. I don’t play favorites, not even on a Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft driven site. I call it how I see it, not go around pretending Sony and Microsoft don’t bring out quality titles.

The less biased comments, the more peace is achieved on this site or any other. It’s not rocket science, it’s common sense.

          • ScrewAttack

Bit of an exaggeration don’t you think? Not quite a rampage….but I agree with the sentiment. Are there different levels of immaturity? :p It’s the go-to maturity theme because it’s the simplest, or is it because it’s the only one that’s used by actual immature “hardcore” gamers to make their point? You don’t see many of these types boasting horror games or survival games as their god.

Ah, it’s a knee-jerk reaction. I understand where it comes from, there’s enough of those little assholes running round the internet these days to sour a man towards the lot. It’s typical, unfortunate stereotyping. I often feel the same knee-jerk, but one too many temporary bans from my usual haunts have taught me to keep it to myself, only go off the handle if they do so first (as you’ve seen ;p).

You do know common sense is a super power right? ;) Microsoft have lost favour with me over the Xbone, they’ve shown their true colours again and pushed me away. Which is funny, because they pushed me towards Sony as my second console, funny because I had an old fanboy hatred of Sony until this last year. But now, I want in on some of those exclusive of theirs!

In an ideal world everyone would get on and we’d all play everything together. But it’s not going to happen, not as long as the big three disallow cross-platform multiplayer and go around bad mouthing each other.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s why I find it childish. To be perfectly honest. Sony and Microsoft and I’m sure even Nintendo don’t care since they kinda encourage it. You see that with Reggie going about how pretty graphics don’t sell systems and then you have Sony mocking Microsoft’s former used game policy. Basically these fanboys are just puppets and they’re pulling the strings. I guess when you’re my age, you realize it and grow out of it, at least most.

Common sense is something everyone needs, but of course that takes time to learn for some. Naturally, companies don’t want that because it would ruin sales. Yes, fanboyism is what helps keep these companies around, which is why I find it funny that people fall for it so easily.

It’s no skin off my back. I just call it like I see it. People will learn to open their eyes one way or another. :)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            .

          • ScrewAttack

I love my usual Nintendo stuff to bits, moar Wonderful 101-like stuff all round! But, I would also love to see what Nintendo can do with an FPS.

Someone hit the nail on the head the other day, think it was a comment on *GASP* IGN!
To paraphrase: “I love what Nintendo do. They’ve great minds working at their studios.. But they’ve done that a lot for a long time; for a change, I’d love to see what they can do with a more mature theme/style of game.”

And I do agree. I love what they do, so I do wonder what they could do with the genres and themes they’ve thus far mostly steered clear of. Would they be as good as Naughty Dog? Would we get The Last of Us standard work from them? Battlefield-level FPS action?

I want to see Nintendo expand outwards and upwards into this awesome gaming company that doesn’t need third party support at all, but gets it anyway. I want them to make their own awesome FPS’ and RPGs and so on that rival the biggest names in the industry, because I’m sure they could if they tried for it. It’d be nice to not be at EA’s mercy for good multiplayer FPS ever again, because I could just play Nintendo’s big-money FPS instead.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t see that happening that way. All consoles need third party. Nintendo stays afloat on their own IP and I agree with that, but the sales are far lower in comparison. Plus, right now, third party is a real issue that’s keeping the Wii U from selling, not just because their 1st party offerings are low.

I do agree with you on Nintendo expanding into other genre. If anything, it would be the one big step that people want them to take. Even if they didn’t fully succeed in doing that, I’d at least respect them for trying.

          • ScrewAttack

I know, it’s a fool’s dream. I just see them lacking in that area and figure, if they can cover themselves there they’d benefit greatly from it. People play battlefield because it’s a quality FPS, if Nintendo had their own of equal calibre it could only be a good thing.

Definitely. I’m sure we’ll still get the usual bitching and insults from the usuals, but guys like us can only benefit!

Hopefully we’ll see more of that sort of thing in year two, once the console establishes itself proper during this Christmas period, and they’ve room to breathe again.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Good lord. Lol. You do a good job of immaturity on here dude. That comment says it all.

      • david jarman

Are you serious? Am I really 1 year older then you!?!?!
Please tell me there is someone older then me on here!!!!

        • Non_Specific_Action_Figure

Action Figures are infinitely older :)

          • david jarman

            And I collect them!

          • ScrewAttack

Me too! Though, just fancy TakaraTomy Masterpiece figures. All 1984 and shit :p But, I’m just 23 years of age.

Also, to Yobrolo- it takes a child to think something is too childish; always playing at being a grown up when all grown ups want to do is play like children. Once you’re all grown up, you’ll realise how shitty being grown up can be.

          • david jarman

I collect anything from spawn to movie action figures to anime and even Disney figures. I have takara’s smallest transformers and Robotech masterpiece editions. I also collect gogo crazy bones.

            When I’m 80 I’ll die young.

          • ScrewAttack

That’s quite a few addictions (we- me and my fellow MP collectors- like to call it plastic crack, since that’s what it is :p)! I couldn’t handle that many, the clashing styles and size of it all would drive me potty. Currently just five MP figures from the new line in my detolf (fantastic display cabinet), now that I’ve sold all of my Classics/Universe/Generations stuff on.

            Live happy!

          I am 34 today

          • david jarman

            Happy birthday!

          • YogiGRB

            Thx

    • D.M.T

Just because it has bright colors doesn’t mean it’s for kids. Realistic graphics doesn’t mean mature game. It’s common sense, use it.

      • Magnus Eriksson

It doesnt have anything with common-sense to do. Its a matter of taste. And what is this “mature” gaming anyways? I play to let my inner child free. If its a childrens game, who cares? It can be fun for adults too. The really good things in life works for all, no matter who is the core audience. You shouldnt take everything so serious. Loose up a bit, have fun, live life, be happy. :)

        • jay

“mature” gaming is what kids call GTA, CoD etcetera. They also call games like Wii Sports and Pikmin “baby gaemez”.

Here’s an example of a “mature” gamer arguing with Shokio.

          • Magnus Eriksson

GTA was a fun game. At least the first ones. But I lost interest after a while. Wii Sports on the other hand, played it the other day with my girlfriend and parents-in-law. We had beers, laughed and played to the late hours (04.00 in the morning or something like that). It was still very fun this day (7 years later). Actually it was as fun as it was when I got my Wii. The important thing is having a joyful time with people you care about. Wouldnt be able to pull that off with GTA. Mature or not mature? Who cares, and who is defining that? I dont care to define it, but Im sure next time we will have family over we wont pick GTA or CoD.

          • jay

Well that’s the irony. People call Wii Sports fans virgins/social-rejects ect. But the most social outgoing people I know play Wii Sports with their girlfriends etc.

The reason why I can’t stand hardcore XBL members is because they see themselves as these social tough guys, when in my experience their immature kids in their grandmas basement who are absolutely afraid of the world.

          • ScrewAttack

I’ve never gotten into GTA. Keep wanting to, but I just can’t muster the will to do so. Hopefully borrowing my sister’s copy of GTA V will get me into the series a bit more.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s not for everyone. It’s more than blood and violence that you hear a lot saying on here or anywhere else. Each game had a great story that drew you in. Even games that have violence can be entertaining, as long as you’re not going out and acting on it. :P

All seriousness, I say give it a go. If your time playing didn’t entice you, then it’s not a game for you, and that’s cool. Not everyone will enjoy it. :)

          • ScrewAttack

I’ll definitely give it a go! Rude not to, now my cheap git of a sister is buying her own games so I don’t even have to pay to play it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Exactly. Consider it a trial run. If you like it, buy it. If you didn’t like it, then you didn’t risk any money. :P

          • Magnus Eriksson

I think I played the two first ones. The first GTA was a top scroller if Im not mistanken. Then there was this 3D version on PS or PS2 (I really dont remember). Fun, but I never bothered to play it through. I kind of got tired from that kind of violence after a while (quite soon actually). Also it got this cool “gangsta tone”. It gets boring after a while. Everything got that style back then. Music, movies and videogames had that. So I dont think I will give it another try. Feels kind of worn out.

          • Magnus Eriksson

            Who is that guy?

          • jay

Shokio is the one in the vid trying to knock some sense into a hardcore-mature-gamer.

Skip to the 29:00 mark so witness the “mature”.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Ah, no thanks. I really dont care. :)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Makes two of us.

        • D.M.T

You act as if I have a different opinion. I agree with you Magnus. I just responded to the person who wants Wii U games to be “more mature”. Wonderful 101 is for everybody, not just kids

          • Magnus Eriksson

See there, even we can agree with each others from time to time :)

  • Magnus Eriksson

I think it looks amazing this way. Sharp colourful and just beautiful. Was going to pick it up but have to wait a bit because of little time to play (and upcoming Zelda). But Ill def. get it. Maybe for christmas?

    • endCredits

You BETTER DO THAT! It’s extremely fun and addicting @_@ :D

    • disqus_sgtob6da3X

I’m just getting both. Support Kamiya and Support Ninty at the same time.

  • CMB

    Looks good

  • val berger

They found the perfect match. Just like Viewtiful Joe, on 101 steroids.

  • Arthur Jarret

It’s very reminiscent of captain scarlet, thunderbirds and power rangers… exactly the kind of setting where the over-the-top action and color-coded special moves feel natural in.

You are missing some import info from eurogamer, and that’s the part of the interview where kayima explains drawing is meant for casual players… and the hardcore play with the control stick.

As every poor drawing-reviewer has bashed the controls, this is an important note to enjoying the game… having beat it, I was able to easily do every move without any mistake using the right stick and I had a blast…

It’s like doing streetfighter special move, but it’s more forgivable AND color-indicated so you caj quickly cancel and restart if you do make a mistake.

    Making a fist? Zangiefs piledriver.
    Sword? Hold any direction
    Whip? Ryus shoryuken
    Hammer? Guile’s flash kick
    Gun? Chun-lis wall flip
Claw? A more tight shoryuken, tap stick instead of making a smooth motion.
Bomb? Do the same as punch, but end up pushing joystick right… very easy to decide the size that way

And then there’s the secret powers, which are done similar to other powers, but with a break halfway through the motion of circle, gun or sword.

I get consistent multi-weapon combos in the game on hard mode. Reviewers who think the controls are bad are a disgrace to gaming – and should stick to reviewing single button / tap iPhone games

  • D.M.T

I’m happy with it’s current art style. It’s gorgeous and looks like a lot of fun. It wouldn’t look as fun if it was a bit darker. Can’t wait to buy this game this weekend

  • SonicLucario

Thats pretty interesting, I hope it sells well over here in the states

    • e_rocket

hope so too… I’ll buy mine soon

  • Ducked

    Darker would have been nice

    • D.M.T

      Why?

      • Ducked

It be different from most Nintendo games, and less Viewful Joe.

        • D.M.T

This game is already different from most Nintendo games, even with the bright colors. This games’ art style is very different from viewtiful joe also. This game is closer to Pikmin than it is to Viewtiful Joe.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s the point. It’d be dark. Which isn’t something Nintendo does or publishes often.

          • D.M.T

Superhero games don’t need to be dark. Wonderful 101 is great the way it is. You want a dark game? Buy Bayonetta 2 next year when it comes out.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You missed the point. I said Nintendo doesn’t do dark games that often, nor anything that someone my age might like. Eternal Darkness and Geist are good examples of games they published in the past. That’s something that I’d like to see from them a bit more. You can still have rated E games along with M rated.

          • SMT-x-FE

It would’ve been less accessible and I think that’s what good guy Nintendo is going for. W101 would’ve been darker if it wasn’t for Ninty. I think the style that it possesses is great though.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think it would’ve worked dark too. I agree, Nintendo plays the good guy often, or at least tries to. With the Wii U having problems selling, a change never hurts any company.

          • Baum 「ツリー」

They did with the Gamecube and some of those darker games were imo the best I ever played on a Nintendo system (Twilight Princess, Prime 1 and 2, Eternal Darkness, RE4 and even Wind Waker was kinda dark storywise, even though its artstyle was and still is really colorful and – out of lack of a better word – “childish”)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Prime wasn’t that dark, but I guess that sorta counts. Lol. Even so, you don’t see it often from Nintendo. That because they prefer to stick to their comfort zone. That’s fine, but it would be nice to see something different from them genre wise.

          • Ducked

            Thank you

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Anytime.

  • Mochlum

I really want this game, but I may have to wait to get it because Wind Waker HD comes out around the same time. Hopefully I can get it with some Christmas funds.

  • Archiq09

He will maybe uses “dark side” for a next IP…

  • e_rocket

I like it as it is, I think it really reflects the eccentricity of the game… Now it would be nice to see it selling well. But with so many old games coming out, it probably won’t!!!! That makes me sad :( jejeje

    • Yoshiwhirlwind

I hope the game sells well too so I buying it to show my support.

      • e_rocket

Me too!!! Buying it before any old franchise ;-)

  • Squirrel09

For those upset about the brighter art, and want something darker. Bayonetta 2 is the game for you. Same Developer and everything. (Options are great aren’t they?)

  • Elitepwnsface

This sounds like what happened to Diablo 3. You know the result!

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t think Nintendo fans would care if it was dark or in it’s current form. If it’s fun, then that’s all that would matter.

    • Magnus Eriksson

I think you got an enemy Daniel. :D There is no other explanation for that downvote there. :)

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        Haters gonna hate. :)

        • ScrewAttack

          lol that’s actually pretty funny.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Was more of a joke than being serious. I expect to be downvoted. Not everyone will agree with what I gotta say, and as for mindless fanboys, well that goes double for them. :)

          • ScrewAttack

I meant the first bit, with you having your enemies downvote you for a comment that shouldn’t deserve them :p Don’t wear that fanboy thing thin now ;)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah I know. Even if you say something positive, anyone who has it out for you, is going to downvote. It’s silly and childish. Ahh well.

  • david jarman

I love it!!!!! I just love it!!!! Alright!!!

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Contain yourself!!!

      • david jarman

        Alright!!!

  • Aleks

I played the demo and really tried to be interested. Honestly, the power rangery bright feel was a major turnoff right off the bat.

  • bizzy gie

Why do people call this game “Wonderful 1 oh 1″?

It’s clearly a zero. If Platinum wanted the game to be call 1 oh 1, why didn’t they put the letter ‘o’ there?

Calling zero oh is like calling 13 B because they kind of look alike.

    • D.M.T

      1 oh 1 sounds better than 1 zero 1 or hundred and 1 :P

      • bizzy gie

        That’s another problem I have.

When saying numbers, there’s no ‘and’.

303 is just three hundred three not three hundred AND three.

Or 956 is just nine hundred fifty-six not nine hundred AND fifty-six.

When you place the ‘and’ in there, you’re now talking about two separate numbers.

        • Baum 「ツリー」

I can imagine he’s from a country like Germany since it’s like that here. We say “einhundert UND eins” (101) because “einhundert eins” sounds friggin’ stupid (at least imo and I also know nobody who’d say it like that). I can imagine, that other languages do it like that too and since it’s not really “wrong” it’s easier to do it in english as you’d do it in your own ;)

          • Marcel Pérez
          • bizzy gie

I take German and I’m best at numbers.

And drei hundert und einundzwanzig (321) sounds even more stupid.

          • Baum 「ツリー」

well, I’m german and trust me, we don’t talk like that in most parts of the country ^^

        • D.M.T

English is not the only language that uses ‘and’. In Spanish for example we say trenta y dos (thirty two) Y is Spanish for and. I’ll give you one more: in Dutch people say een en twintig (twenty one). The en in Dutch means and. Other languages uses and too but it doesnt really sound like a separate number. I think it sounds like the 2 numbers are 1 because they belong together.

        • ScrewAttack

Because language is a free thing and we’re allowed to pronounce it however we like?

          • Non_Specific_Action_Figure

            Yep

    • Yen

Is this serious? You’re complaining about a game because of its NAME? People call this game The Wonderful 1 “oh” 1 because that’s how they named the game. Simple as that. It sounds smoother too. If you’re going to complain about 1 oh 1 why not solve the problem of 11 not being read as Onety One instead of Eleven?

      • bizzy gie

        Not complaining about the game.

        Just the name.

        The 11 thing…

        Not the same.

    • Baum 「ツリー」

It’s a british thing I think (please tell me if it was american english, ’cause I’m not too sure :/)

They use “oh” instead of “zero” for example in telephone numbers because it’s faster and easier to understand.

      • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

Well, that is how some of us speak in England. I’m not sure if it’s related to this topic since it’s caught on everywhere xD

        • ScrewAttack

I use oh and zero interchangeably, depending on the situation where I’m using it. Though the voice controlled system at my old job couldn’t understand oh so I haven’t used it as much lately, had it beaten out of me a bit ;p

          Oh, *also English*.

          • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

I’m sad to say that i just use oh. Most people i know do too, i guess its just because we’re northern ._.

          • Baum 「ツリー」

Northern like in Scotland or northern England?

I’m asking, because my english teacher in elementary school used to travel regularly to Scotland. She’s been talking english fluently and she’s also the person, who told me about that kind of stuff with all smaller and bigger differences between theUK and the US. (wich was friggin’ interesting, even for 9yearolds ^^)

          • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

Just nothern England, I’ve been to Scotland a fair few times though xD

    • Marcel Pérez

in-game the narrator calls them the “one double O” if im not mistaken, and in the trailers in the end you can hear Wonder Red say The Wonderful…! and the rest of the crew “One O One!”

And it sounds better that way to be honest…

    • Derk

101 is a slang term used here in the US…..

101 can be added to any word…… It means you have basic general knowledge of whatever the word is….. The reason they don’t pronounce ZERO is because you lose fluidity when you say it (like all slang)…

History101 = basic understanding of history
Car ownership101 = basic understanding of owning a car.
Cooking101 = basic understanding of cooking

      Wonderful101 is a play on words…..

      • bizzy gie

I live in America and get 101 fully.

        I just don’t like it.

        • Derk

Its just a clever little super hero group name… lol

Fearsome five….. The Wonderful 101….. The Terrible Two….

          • Non_Specific_Action_Figure

            Good Point

    • Arthur Jarret

      James bond, double-oh-seven (007).

I don’t recommend this often, but you need to watch more movies.

  • Fred

I like it how it is better!!!

  • majora :D

I’m not saying that the art style is bad, but it would have been interesting to see darker tones

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

imo the more colorful style fits the game albeit that personally I prefer somewhat darker games as mentioned by someone else mp, definitely mp2, twillight princess oot/mm ed etc. Seems like the majority agree Sales wise perhaps, or it is purely the lack of advertising for this title.
For me I think it’s good now but would have preftered the darker style.

  • John Andalora

Am I one of the only few people who played the demo and didn’t like it? I’m not trying to insult or mock this game, it just isn’t really a game for me. Am I the only one?

    • mark

How many times did you play the demo. It took several attempts and some understanding of the control mechanics for me to appreciate the game’s brilliance.

      • Maraccuda

Yeah, it’s true. I have just finished mission 3 and now I really like it.
It takes some time to get used to the controls and the flow of battles (dodge, attack, block, etc).

It’s much like Viewtiful Joe; I had a blast on my second playthrough.

      • John Andalora

I played twice. Wanted to make sure I didn’t like it when I knew the controls.

    • david jarman

      No, but does it matter?

You’re allowed to not enjoy a game. It wasn’t your cup of tea and that’s cool.

  • Rodger Jamjet

This game is brilliant and the best game I’ve played in aping long time. That is on the Wii U and an exclusive is all the better. Simply superb!

  • Non_Specific_Action_Figure

Hey guys, here is a bit of Non-Specific Info, Nintendo, is going to be talking to Mojang about Minecraft, or something. Source: http://asia.gamespot.com/pax/nintendo-on-minecrafts-absence-from-wii-u-3ds-6413958/

  • Mitch Hall

I think it’s brilliant – I just wish they’d used antialiasing to really give it a “plastic” feel.

  • Nintendofreak

they should have included a alternate story like dark ex sonic adventure 2, then the darker art would have been used… and i like being evil….muwahaha

  • SMT-x-FE

Hideki, not Hikedi. Understandable mistake though.

  • Truthteller

I told you that Nintendo purposely puts those bright, primary colors in their games because those colors excites the most, especially in children. Looks like it failed regardless.

    • crocodileman94

“Hideki himself wasn’t comfortable with the original look, and Nintendo preferred a friendlier first impression. He said, “I wasn’t really satisfied with it, and Nintendo said, ‘Why don’t you change it? Why don’t you find something with a broader appeal?”

Where did it say that Nintendo forced Hideki to make the style more friendly?

      • Truthteller

If you boss ASKS or SUGGESTS that you do something, is that a command or a simple question? If you say “no thanks, i’ll stick to MY idea,” what do you think they will say?

    • Elem187

Its a game more geared towards North America…. where most of Nitnendo gamers buy bright colored super hero games.
can we wait to see what happens in North America before we write off as a flop?

      • Truthteller

OK, but when it flops, will you then say that it was unknown super-heroes that did the game in? When does it come out?

  • Johny

i think it would do better if it were darker and not so colorful. i like it as it is, its unique, but you know.. americans are all for YEAH dark and mature and shit… it would be more appealing to them i think.

    • Elem187

yes, the game should be made darker so it sells even less copies.
Going brighter was the smarter business move… they will move more copies in the end… it will outsell bayonetta 2.

      • Johny

hmm.. i really doubt it could outsell bayonetta 2 dude… no way…
well, maybe it was a smart move. the game certainly looks really unique and something special.. i’ll give it that

  • Sora Morp

    no its good like this

  • linkzero65

I highly recommend this game its sooooo awsome and funny and has a great story if it gets hard just change the diffuclty level because ive heard ppl complaining about that.

  • TCar

Well, I don’t have anything to compare it too but I would say it looks pretty darn nice! I do want this game in my collection!

  • nexxus6

Looks awesome! I will definitely be getting this one. However, you know that the “hard core gamers” out there will probably disrespect the game because it actually uses a lot of color.

  • nexxus6

This game looks amazing, I will definitely be picking it up. However, brace yourself for the “hard core gamers” to disrespect the game because it actually uses a lot of color.
