  • Sydney Ultrasyd

I dream of the day when I can read :
    Zelda Wii U (Nintendo) – 49€
This weekly eShop report is like a clock to an important date, with weeks, months and years instead of seconds, minutes and hours

    • AAAkabob

I’m assuming that a fan of TLoZ has a 3DS and is ready for ALBW?

      • Sydney Ultrasyd

        Can’t afford a 3DS for the moment :'(

        • Gregg

Ebay some games if you can. 3DS-XL is Nintendo gaming heaven

  • Emissario Zen-hai

    LEGO MARVEL????? No????

    • Monkey

Tell me about it. Im dying to play it but of course no eshop release.

  • Ace

I am sick of the crap that Nintendo is spewing out on the VC. I am a Nintendo fan, but I am really getting sick of the lack of titles on the VC. I am also sick of not hearing anything from Nintendo about what their plan is or if they are doing anything about putting N64 games and GC games on there despite all the fan outcry.
Ok…rant is over. So, anybody getting Batman or ACIV?

    • Adam

I agree. I got the Wii u at lanch (first console I’ve gotten at launch ever) I think the games I got at launch weren’t bad, but Nintendo hasn’t done anything to keep me in it. I loved the $.30 games we could get but the nostalgia doesn’t last. I want games I can buy to replace the aging SNES I have that is 22 years old and could give out any time.

      • Ace

Me too! Wii U was the first console that I stood in line for and got the minute it was released. I have enjoyed the games on it, but one of the main reasons I got it was to enjoy the old nostalgic games from the past. They did well with the $.30 cent games and because most of them were great I had high hopes for the VC’s future. Since then I think I have gotten 1 game.

        • Adam

I haven’t gotten any. I would get Super Mario World but I don’t want to tell them good job till there are games out. Not just minigames passed off as decent VC titles.

  • audi lover

Oh why oh why Nintendo, another 3 complete shit nes games released for virtual console, your really pissing me of now. I haven’t spent my money on there online store since monster hunter 3 was reduced, come on at least release aload of snes classic’s like Zelda Lp, starfox, Mario cart and snes donkey kong, your making the same mistakes all over again and releasing rubbish that no wants to play

    • Toadlord

Yeah, the selection has been garbage recently. I’ve been hoping for Mario RPG, but really anything would be better than this.

      • Adam

I want that too. I have it on the SNES but mine could die any minute now. I want the library of games on my Wii U to where I would only use that system. Right now Nintendo isn’t offering it. I don’t even mind the prices. to me, $8 isn’t bad for a SNES game even if it is antiquated. The SNES had some of the best games of all time, and Nintendo is giving us the digital finger.

      • Majora’s Mask

to be honest they do give the option of the wii shop so wii u eshop deserves a lack of content a bit but by missing basic games its garbage who BUYS NES TITLES LIKE TENNIS?

        • Fred

Nobody is going to buy tennis then they’ll think the VC isn’t popular anymore and they’ll slow down the releases even more.

        • Magnus Eriksson

          Haha, I did :D

          • Majora’s Mask

stfu you dont even own a wii u get the fuck off troll

    • Brett Butler

They honestly need to do a poll on VC releases.

I mean, it’s about the fans and money right?
      It makes sense.

      • Fred

That would be cool if they gave us 10 options and we got to vote on which one they started working on next

    • ItzameyaToad

You have to look at it from the perspective of them wanting to get alot of NES/SNES games out there. They have released almost all of the games you mentioned on the Wii Eshop(which every single Wii U owner can access) so you can buy them there, and the awesome thing is is if you buy it on Wii’s Eshop then a few months/years down the road it comes to Wii U you can simply pay $1.00(think maybe $2.00 if its SNES etc.) to access it on the Wii U without having to go through the Wii home menu. Really they are trying to please everyone by releasing there whole library of NES/SNES for fans of those games not just the same popular titles over and over again.

      • Denvy

A few YEARS down the road? Yeah, no thanks. Let’s get some quality titles that we are ALL waiting to pay the extra buck or two to play on the gamepad.

        • ItzameyaToad

Not saying it WILL be a few years down the road am just saying it COULD be a few years down the road.I am speaking hypothetical of course as I don’t actually work for Nintendo. My point is is many people act like they can’t play those games on the Wii U already, you can you just have to be on the Wii menu. I mean damn if Nintendo adds the ability to play old virtual console games you bought on the Wii on the Wii U through an app, meanwhile any games you bought on Xbox 360 or PS3 won’t transfer to PS4/Xbox One. I mean really I can understand people wanting to play some of those VC games on the Wii U for certain features but don’t sit and act like you can’t already play it on your Wii U. And really if people are so damn upset then TELL NINTENDO instead of complaining about it on a fan/news site.

          • Denvy

No one did believe you worked for Nintendo. The point is, watching games spring up that no one cares about is a waste of everyone’s time, including Nintendo’s. Some people like myself actually can’t play games that I downloaded via Wii virtual console unless I shell out 15-20 bucks for a compatible controller. Until then games I bought are useless. The announcement so long ago that we could upgrade to play on the gamepad for a nominal fee was exciting. I want to play my Super Mario RPG again, and Super Mario Kart again by paying $1.50 each. Not 20 bucks just to do it. And I don’t want to play Pinball while I wait.

          • ItzameyaToad

“watching games spring up that no one cares about” No that you and a few others don’t care about. My point is is somewhere someone wants to play these games and Nintendo is doing the right thing by getting ALL the games from past consoles released before focusing on a few Popular games that are already available, yes you have to buy an extra controller(mainly for N64 games not sure about SNES games) for some games but that’s part of it. On that point why did you buy a game(s) if you don’t have a compatible controller?

Again though I see your point and why people are frustrated but it’s not the end of the world if Nintendo focuses on bringing out more games that aren’t the big games alot of people want, especially since people are able to like I said play them from the Wii menu.

Also you do know they have bundles that have the classic controllers in them right? You get a game AND the controller all for one price and a large majority of the bundles are probably cheap by now like $20. Don’t quote me on that price though.

          • Denvy

Pinball? Seriously? It wasn’t a good game back then and it still isn’t. I didn’t buy games with an incompatible controller. My Wii had Gamecube ports. I never said it’s the “end of the world”, but if they want more money, just throwing out 1 or two games a week that haven’t aged well by any means is not the way to do it.

        • Fred

You already can. I’ve played Super Mario Bros 3 on the GamePad, you just can’t use the GamePad buttons you need the Wii Remote

          • Arthur Jarret

            I’ve played mario allstars… it’s better!

          • Magnus Eriksson

The crooks at Nintendo removed that one from Virtual Console, just repackage it at the 25th ann.

          • Arthur Jarret

It was never released on virtual console – they could make more money selling 3x 5 buck NES games than 1x 8 buck SNES game with larger size on their server…

It was pretty silly that it was a disc-based release, though (a full DVD for 8MB worth of game…)

          • Denvy

SNES games cannot be played via Wiimote as far as I’m aware. Can they?

          • Fred

No, but if you plug a classic controller into that wii remote you can play

          • Denvy

Exactly, I don’t want to shell out the extra $$ for a controller that will be obsolete once I can upgrade games to play on the gamepad.

          • Arthur Jarret

Upgrading games is the more expensive option if you even have a halfway decent collection (i.e. 10 or more games).

            (Rant warning)

That’s the silly part: having to pay for an upgrade for each game to use a function that could have been ieasily ntegrated by the communication method of the gamepad’s input and the video output.

The only thing they would have to do is make a community for each game… some administrative work: if this work costs 1 buck to 1,50 for each user – I think people would accept one joint community for all VC games.

Not that I’m entitled to upgraded titles and I’m sure they are
putting some work in it that justifies this cost – although they should better illustrate it to make it seem less like a cash-grab – I just feel that they could have come up with a better, cheaper method to make VC titles available.

It’s also bothersome to have to open the wii menu to watch the system reset – just to play a wiiware game. The software designers of the 3DS should have had more to do with the Wii U – as the DSi titles are readily available from the 3DS main menu (as well as folders).

            (/Rant warning)

          • Denvy

In the long run, yes, it would be more expensive, but not altogether a complete waste of money. The major reason anyone would want to upgrade is off TV play. Buying a 20 dollar controller just to tide me over will be worse and then the controller is useless. And to play Super Mario Kart and other two player games, I’d be forking out almost 40 to play with a friend.

          • Arthur Jarret

Sure, but knowing nintendo’s track record with the wii it will still take them over 3 years to release most worthwhile games…

Furthermore, the classic controller is compatible with quite a few wii games as well, xenoblade chronicles amongst them, as well as the last story, pandoras tower, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (a no DLC Capcom game, it’s rare!). If you missed these on the wii, they’re definitely worth checking out now.

Furthermore, the wii + classic controller combo is currently supported by many wii u games: Injustice, Monster hunter, Need for speed, Sonic all stars racing, Tekken tag 2, Sonic and the lost world and the wonderful 101 are the games in my colection supporting it.

It’s actually the cheapest multiplayer option if you still have wiimotes lying around.

            Of course, it’s your choice.

          • Denvy

If I needed it, it would be another story. I don’t need a classic controller for Xenoblade or any other Wii game. Wiimote and Nunchuck was reliable for me and I find no reason to use the tiny controller for Wii U games either. That’s what the Gamepad and/or pro controller is for.

          • Arthur Jarret

It wasn’t very reliable for fighting games… However, I get your point. Personally – I already have three Classic controller pro’s lying around and these are pretty comfortable – so I don’t see a need to update it to an expensive pro controller, seeing as most multiplayer games do support the classic controller.

I’d rather spend that money on games…

Ah well, noting your comment on tiny controller: I take it you’re not a fan of Sony’s controllers? (I swear… every time i switch from playing any nintendo system to playstation, I feel like a giant…)

          • Fred

I feel the same way you do. I own 4 Pro Controllers and 0 Classic controllers so I felt free to get Mario 3 in Wii mode, but I can’t wait until Star Fox 64 and a bunch of other games come to the Wii U VC for that very reason. In fact I got Star Fox on the Wii VC for free using Club Nintendo Coins hoping that it would release soon on the Wii U VC, but so far there haven’t been any N64 games now I’m hoping that it is one of the rumored N64 HD remakes

          • audi lover

whats the point of that ‘you can use your game pad just not the buttons’ utter crap

          • Fred

The point is that you can play in the other room or while watching tv. No it’s not as nice and hopefully Nintendo is working to add that functionality, but it’s better to have this than to not have it. To me the main use is playing Xenoblade while my wife watches X Factor and Biggest Loser

      • audi lover

pointless pointless pointless much prefer to pay wii u prices and have the game optimised for the gamepad as i usually only play on the gamepad as it is

        • ItzameyaToad

Wii U prices are the same as Wii prices….. If the game is out on Wii and you really want it then there really is no room to bitch about having to wait as you can already access the game and if it does happen to come to Wii U you only have to pay a small amount to have Wii U features. Again you people complain for no real reason… Pointless pointless pointless complaining.

          • audi lover

            hahaha pointless reponse

    • Gabe Hoffman

You do realize that there are a whole bunch of other games coming out this week.

  • Keyser

    *insert virtual console rant here*

    • Andrew W Garttmeyer

So friggin true. Why do I even bother clicking this link. Baseball and Pinball…W…T…F?! I wish I had more energy to give this a proper lashing, but like a parent angry with a child, I am no longer angry, just disappointed with you nes.

      • Gabe Hoffman

You do see that a whole bunch of other games have come out besides those three.

        • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Huh? That Nes is responsible for? There are TONS of VC games that they can release. Last week it was two crappers, and THIS week it’s two more crappers. Seriously?

Edit: REALLY!? The Wii U has been released for just about a year, and there are what, 25 games on the VC? 10 of them crap. C’mon.

          • Magnus Eriksson

55 games in total. Many are very good: Metroid, Super Metroid, Kid Icarus, Mega Man 1-4, SMB, SMB2, Street Fighter Ii (three versions), Final Fight 1-3, Megaman X, Kirby (four games), Punch Out, F-Zero, Zelda, Zelda II, Donkey Kong, Gradius, Super Mario World, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Ghosts and Goblins, Earthbound, Pilotwings, Breath of Fire II and Harvest Moon.

I could come up with 32 pretty great titles in a whim. I probably forgot some too. The service is slow, agree on that, but most of the games are actually pretty good.

Edit: There are some good, but not great titles too like: Galaga, Ice Climbers, Mario Bros, DKjr, CluClu Land, Solomons Key, Excitebike, Balloon Fight and Romance of three Kingdoms IV.

That is nine ok to good games. Making a total of ok to great games a stunning 41 games. Rest of the 14 games could be charactered as bad (Urban Champion, Vegas Stakes, Xevious, Spelunker, Mario Picross, Wrecking Crew etc) to mediocre (golf, tennis, pinball, baseball etc)

So, kind of unfair to characterize the games as bad, but the service hasnt been the best.

          • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Well thanks for coming in on my inane ‘rant’ that was posted on the ‘post rant here’ thread and slap me across the face with all your facts :P.

I agree, it is not as horrible as I wrote hours ago when I first saw (for the second time) really lame games as the new VC out, but my original intent remains the same, I am disappointed with the recent games they have been choosing and 55 games over the course of a year is OK, but it could be much better.

I agree, there are some good games, absolutely, but for every ‘good’ game released in the past year I can name 5-10 more good games that could also be here. When you combine that with the lack of solid other games and now seeing they are possibly doing more HD lazy implements for 30 a pop…it all adds up and my annoyance got the best of me, along with a ‘troll’ that irritated me.

Not to mention, couldn’t they just give us some kind of release schedule, THAT would ease my worries a ton methinks.

          • Magnus Eriksson

But you are right. The service should and could have been better.

          • Gabe Hoffman

I hear Super Castlevania is coming on the 31st

          • val berger

especially the ‘good but not great’ titles are completely uninteresting. If you could pay like 5-10bucks a month to play all VC games all the time, it would be ok. But at that pricetag, I can only buy VC games, that are really, really, really worth playing.

          • Gabe Hoffman

            I meant the retail releases

      • val berger

I can’t believe, Nintendo is wasting their resources on stuff like this. I really can’t. If you put all VC-Fails together, you easily notice, they could have ported some real sellers instead. If Nintendo just had had like 10 Blockbustergames in their whole history, then I’d understand, they had to fill the gaps whith trash like this, but they could just keep on publishing VC-Blockbusters every week and we would never get tired. There would be so damn much to bring out and I’m afraid, some of this will never be published because Nintendo is wasting so much time and ressources on stuff like this. If they keep going on like that, I’d suggest to stop the VC at all and concentrate on new games. VC is great, but not like this. Its not fun to wait and be disappointed in 9 of 10 cases and theres no sight of change on the horizon.

        • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Here Here! Well said, and I agree.

    • Magnus Eriksson

Another perspective is that even though those games are not the best Virtual Console have picked up some steam over the last weeks. In that matter its a better service now than it was a couple of months ago. Also, those games should be there, they have some collectable value for many of us from early nes gen. But agree, would be funnier to see titles as Zelda ALttP, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Super Mario Bros 3 etc.

      • Keyser

Wow, look who’s being positive today! :D

Anyway, I agree its been a little better (excluding this week), but Nintendo has so many great titles on the NES and SNES that it should be feasible to have one decent game each week, like one I would actually buy for $5-8… Seriously, why not Baseball and Starfox, or Baseball and Mario RPG? They could do a better job picking them, that’s all

        • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah, I know. I want to see those titles too. And I think its bad that N. didnt release the whole catalogues and continued with bringing other old schoolers to the platform, but that is not going to happen. So im just judging it by its own premises. It got good games, most of them are great. The bad thing is the slow release with one or sometimes no game every week. But the last weeks have been to, three games per week. And thats good. :)

        • val berger

          +1 for the introsentence ;D

      • Justagamer

Super mario bros 3 is coming …check out their website

        • Magnus Eriksson

          Yeah, I know.

          • Justagamer

Not sure on date..I hope soon

          • Magnus Eriksson

Think it was before christmas :)

          • Justagamer

            I hope so

      • val berger

not just them. Nintendo could totally publish N64 and Gamecube Titles as well. That’s what I’m complaining about. I thought they use to talk about Gamecube games on VC a year ago and now it’s like this was never an option. Goddammit, the only VC games I’ve ever been looking forward playing are Viewtiful Joe and FZero GX. Although I’ve completed both. But Joe is caling me through W101. He says I gotta come back for more. HE NEEDS ME! NINTENDO, CAN’T YOU HEAR ME CRYING?
I have like a dozens of Gamecubegames here and I could buy every single one again on VC because it would add so much to be able to play them on the Gamepad :)

        • Simon Stevens

Keep preaching brother, what I’d give to play Luigi’s mansion and Tales of symphonia again, not to mention Viewtiful Joe, he goes without saying all day long, really wish Capcom focused more on franchises like that last time round, they’d have been more successful for it.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/purepuchi Severus Swerve

Guess I’ll be waiting for DK3

  • ZeldaFanzzzz

Think im gonna save up for super mario 3d worlds.

  • Fred

Isn’t Wii Party U coming tomorrow?

    • Gregg

Yep, and it looks super cool.

      • Fred

I’ve got family coming down to visit next weekend so I’ll probably grab this.

  • Jack5221

Wow, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures comes out Oct 29th? I cant remember the last time I heard about that game. Literally no one is promoting it. Haven’t seen any trailers, haven’t gotten any updates. Nothing. Im not saying the game will be bad, it just seems really odd to me that this game has been well… Forgotten!

    • Fred

There’s a trailer for it in the eShop it looks better than I expected

  • FoxMulder900

I’m probably going to get Sonic despite the mixed reviews. Still looks pretty fun to me.

    • Mitchell

Im getting sonic too, to me is a great game and also to support sega for giving us an exclusive

    • Noah

Me too. Sonic has such a diverse fanbase hence the mixed reviews. I really will just have to see for myself. So far, looks like a blast to me!

  • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Some heavy hitters coming out this week. Let’s hope they do well!

  • Fred

go sign into club nintendo. it says if you download pinball you get 80 coins!!!

  • Gabe Hoffman

Is Virtual Console the only thing people care about? Why can’t people be pleased with with the other games that are coming out this week.

  • bizzy gie

Well…virtual console is the same as always.

  • Vinicius

Hey Ash, I think it’s worth mentioning that RE: Revelations it’s heavily discounted, at only 20 bucks!! :D

  • Skillbread

    Conkers Bad Fur Day PLEASE!

    • crocodileman94

      A Microsoft franchise.

      • Petri

Has Microsoft ever actually made anything, except for kinect… stuff?
Or has they only bought the studios with at least somewhat decent games?

      • Skillbread

I know but it was a great N64 title. You cant stop a man from dreaming =)

  • Petri

Awww, Deus Ex is actually 5€ cheaper on eShop, but I have to drive to the store to get Wii party U anyways.

  • Justagamer

They are bringing this to the ehop on Oct 31..Who’s ready!

    • Justagamer

      Sorry Eshop

    • Denvy

      Best Castlevania, imo.

      • Justagamer

Yes it was but SOTN was also awesome

        • Denvy

It was also awesome, but was a huge departure from the series (but turned it into what it is today) at that point. IV is still my fav.

  • Javy G

Let’s face it Nintendo forces us to be patient. It’s worth it most of the time but the wait is killer when you know of all the VC titles that are available for Wii.

Off topic (and I hate to say it because I love the Wii U): the Wii U is becoming a luxury tax to play Nintendo Games. With Third Party developers slowly starting to leave the Wii U and develop for the competition instead, Nintendo is becoming a first party and indie developers’ only console. The only thing keeping 3rd Parties close is the 3DS in all of it’s success and some of 3rd Party’s teams commitment. Maybe after these holidays are over, they will realize the glory to be had and jump back on. The Wii U SHOULD be noticeable this time around! I just wish the cost to produce a game wasn’t so expensive. It keeps identical games to keep pushing them with any variety of different games to enter. …but its what the people want.

  • vGameOn

I can’t believe how stubborn Nintendo is being with the VC. It’s like they don’t like success at all.

  • Macabre

When are we going to get Zelda: A Link to the Past?

  • Mitch Hall

Sonic Lost World is absolutely on my list… after I finish Pokemon X. Still debating whether to get Arkham Origins on Wii U or PC.

  • Mr. Hobo

I just thought of something. Nintendo needs to make a Gamepad range extender similar to that of wifi extenders. I would so buy it.

  • Sharingan

    I NEED CONTRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Petri

    How big is Deus Ex?
Retailer just moved arrival date to 29th, thinking about buying eShop, since its 5€ cheaper too.

Edit: 16GB, I need that ext. hd faster than I thought.

Just Dance for Kids 2014? My daughter would love that, too bad I don’t have a WiiU :(

There are also two US eShop sales I saw last night: Resident Evil: Revelations for $19.99 and Trine 2 is on sale again for $7.99!

How does LEGO Marvel superheroes not even come to the eShop as a priority? I swear…I have a PS3 and A Wii U for the kids. The idiotic and frustrating implementation of DLC and digital availability on the Wii U is beyond me. When I go from PSN to Wii U unfriendly eShop, it drives me insane. No Lego Marvel superheros, nor DLC WHATSOEVER in the eshop. Probably one of the biggest and best released games this year, and for the Wii U….nowhere. Unbelievable. I really do like the WII U, I do. But when I hear how developers and critics “want the system to fail”, some of this also rests on NINTENDO’S own shoulders.
