Nintendo has announced a brand new Wii U bundle featuring Skylanders Swap Force and Nintendo Land.

Fans of Skylanders rejoice, as a new Wii U bundle with Skylanders Swap Force has been announced. This bundle will launch on November 15th and combines a Wii U with the Skylanders Swap Force starter pack. According to Nintendo of America’s Scott Moffitt, there’s so much included in this bundle it almost didn’t fit into the box.

“There are so many great elements to this Skylanders SWAP Force Wii U bundle that we almost couldn’t cram them all into the box. This amazing deal provides a huge amount of entertainment for kids and their families to play together.”

Here’s what the full bundle includes:

  • White 8GB Wii U Basic system
  • Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack, which includes the game and portal of power
  • Stealth Elf figurine
  • Blast-Zone figurine
  • Washbuckler figurine
  • A collectible poster, trading cards and sticker sheets
  • Nintendo Land game

Skylanders Swap Force released on October 13th in North America, so it’s nice to see a Wii U holiday bundle for fans of the series that might be interested in getting the game and a Wii U.

    So many bundles.
    So low sales.

    What the fuck world.

    • Jack5221

Well… Not all of them have released yet. And some are UK only. Plus, the holiday shopping madness has not really started yet. Not until Black Friday.

    • LukeBlackburn

this one wiuldnt sell until Christmas for kids

    • Martijn Plasmans

The bundles that where in the news are all yes to come. From beginning of November.

    • jtak336

The only bundle that’s been released is the Wind Waker HD one, and it has sold quite well. The others do not come out until November, so wait through the holidays and then we can look at sales figures.

    • Gregg

They are just getting started with these Bundles, and Zelda WW, has done well.

  • Macabre

Nothing would sell more wii u’s than a Mario 3D World wii u bundle.

  • BIG Franky

this is great…. last year saw Skylanders Giants bundled with a Blue Wii (no Wii U bundle last year)…. I love these bundles…. they are good value for families, which is what Nintendo is going after. Don’t be surprised to see a crazy good Black Friday deal centered around Wii U this year….

  • Ducked

I would never buy this, but I can see the much younger audiences getting it. I’ll be purchasing my NSMBU bundle soon

    • Gregg

Skylanders is awesome, and, likely too hard for younger gamers. I help my kids with all 3. It’s a blast. Try it sometime, you’ll be surprised.

      • Ducked

Have you played Disney Infinity, I’m curious of which is better.

        • Gregg

I have both. They are 100% different. There is virtually 0 similarity in the game itself, as well as how the figures are used. Skylanders by far.
          -G

          • Ducked

I’m more of a Disney fan that’s why I asked. But I did hear the transformable character in Swap Force is pretty legit. I might look into it if I can get a good deal on Black Friday.

  • Nuno

The question is, how many more bundles could they come up with? And the answer, is none. No wait….

  • Andy Johnson

I am really excited to see all of these bundles so the wii u will appeal to a bigger audience, but what really sucks is for us who got the system at launch or before the price drop, we kinda got screwed.
I hope Nintendo does a reward program for us who have been supporters since day 1.
If not, oh well I still love my Wii U.

    • BIG Franky

these bundles are great ideas…. I hope they do the Wii Fit U Bundle I’ve seen online in other countries (with and w/out balance board inclusion)…. I have friends in my office whose wives have a wii strictly for the wii fit and balance board component…. and that is the only thing they use it for…. they would be apt to get the new system if it were marketed to them…. especially when they learn of the new and improved wii fit app and the wii fit meter….

    • Ducked

I got screwed when my $350 Wii U broke

      • Yousif Alromaithi

Shame it did broke man I do love Wii U.

        • Ducked

I know, I’m buying the NSMBU bundle, at least I still have my games…

          • Yousif Alromaithi

            How did it broke.

          • Ducked

It took a nasty fall off my entertainment system after I was trying to remove my HDMI cable.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Could the warranty cover it or no. I mean did you try. It happened to my PS3 one time but I fixed it.

          • Ducked

Apparently since I damaged it, and it was a defunct system or whatever. I’d have to pay Nintendo to repair it. I don’t really know what I’d do with two Wii U gamepads…

          • Yousif Alromaithi

            Man that’s a tough decision.

          • Ducked

Yeah I know, I’m thinking about selling my current gamepad on ebay. But I’m still unsure.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Try to solve your problem by fixing your Wii U first aside from that if you want another one and have NSMU so I think it’s better pick up the zelda bundle off course.

          • Ducked

I think I’m going to try to get that golden LoZ WW HD limited edition gamepad. So I’ll probably sell my gamepad, then sell the Wii U broken. That should give me some money.

            Thanks for the advice :)

      • Gregg

Nintendo fixes systems QUICK. Just call them and setup a repair. They come back looking like NEW.

        • Ducked

But it fell off my entertainment system when I was moving the HDMI cable. I don’t think they’d fix that

          • Gregg

Oh no!!! I would try. They once took a system well after Warranty.

          • Ducked

            Okay, I’ll notify them. Thanks!

          • Gregg

Worst case, your right were you started. Best case…. You get your WiiU back
            -G

          • Ducked

True, I don’t have anything to lose at this point.

          • Entropyguy

Exactly. You lose nothing by asking, so *always* ask. :)

    • Gregg

That’s just how it goes, with launches. We have been asking for Nintendo to step up the WiiU, and they are doing it. We win in the end, cause more success, means more games for WiiU.

  • Wayne Beck

That is a crazy ridiculous win for Nintendo. A Skylanders bundle is money in the bank.

  • Baum 「ツリー」

If I’m not mistaken, then one of those figures is exclusive to the bundle.

    • BIG Franky

nope, those are the 3 standard figs that come with the starter pack.

  • Justin Clark

If I was 6 this would be the coolest thing to open on Christmas morning. I like all these bundles Nintendo is doing. I know it’s only because of the low sales, but I come from the days when you got a game with your system ( and a second controller). 3DS has done a ton of these bundles and special editions and I think it has worked well for that system. Hopefully it’ll for Wii U as well.

    • Gregg

Why 6? You do know that Skylanders is a very high quality game, and a little on the tough side for kids. It’s one of my recent favorites, and I’m 37

      • Justin Clark

I wasn’t taking a shot at the game at all. Honestly I haven’t never played these games, but I’ve always enjoyed the Giantbomb quicklooks of them. Really I’m scared of trying it and getting way into them and then buying all the figures (I know how I am). Basically was just saying that a young version of myself would be extremely stoked about this. I would’ve ended up asking for nothing but Skylanders figures from any family member that would ask.

        • Gregg

You are 100% correct!!! Its dangerous. I have a whole shelf of them!! lol

      • BIG Franky

I agree they are high quality…. but these games are FAR from tough…. lets be real here, for kids included. (i’m talking just campaign…not all the collectibles hitting 100%)…. campaign of less than 5 hours? kinda weak IMHO…. don’t get me wrong, my family has the others and will get this one…but these are not challenging games. fun yes, hard? nope.

  • Rugmouse

I thought Nintendo said they were going to be discontinuing the 8GB Basic model – I find it strange that this bundle would be the lower tiered model, but then again, perhaps they want to keep the price lower. Do we know what this will retail at, Ashley? If it is at the $300 price point, this is an incredible deal.

Either way, I’m really liking the strategy Nintendo is using, releasing several bundles to ensure there is one for every type of gamer. I know they stated that their goal for the Wii U was to broaden their fanbase (retain casual gamers, but also lure back the more advanced market). This is a good way of doing it – making sure there is a bundle for everyone.

NOW ADVERTISE THE WII U NINTENDO!

    • BIG Franky

They did discontinue the 8GB model… it was pulled off the shelves and is no longer for sale…. they’re getting rid of the unsold units by including them with these bundles… I love it…. and I agree that it is sound strategy…. the vast majority of Nintendo’s typical gamers don’t need more than 8 GB to be honest… most families just buy games on discs and use any included memory for game saves and such…. anyone buying a Skylander bundle would be totally fine with 8 GB of memory…
I’m telling you, I might be off on this prediction…. but to me there is writing on the wall that Nintendo might do something big this Christmas Season (Black Friday in particular)…. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Nintendo do something crazy…. Nintendo might be willing to take losses this Christmas season with console sales with a BIG sale of some sort…something that PS3 did early on but Nintendo has never done… they have the reserves to weather the storm for a season and get back into the fight….. and given how everything coming out about the upcoming next gen launches (PS4 in particular) seems very negative lately (don’t get me wrong, i’m not canceling my pre-order or anything….I’ve been predicting the XB1 & PS4 launches to not live up to the hype anyways…these things never do), there might be a window of opportunity for Nintendo to battle its way back to relevance here….

      • Yousif Alromaithi

This bundle looks great I believe it will sell if Nintendo market the bundle heavy. I remember back on 2011 they used lady gaga, justin beiber to help them with marketing the 3DS. But now using beiber is a bad idea. They used Lisa Kurdow on the past so Nintendo need to work on something now.

        • Ducked

Yeah, now that everyone knows that bieber is a prick

          • Yousif Alromaithi

He is the biggest prick in the world.

          • Ducked

            Thank you lol

  • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Wow, comes with Ninty land too? THAT is a great deal o.o

    • Ducked

Yeah, great for families. Kids will love the skylanders, and parents and teens will love Nintendo Land. Since Nintendo Land is the best party game since Mario Party 5!

  • Gregg

That is one hell of a way to repackaged the remaining 8gb WiiU. This is a seriously good deal, especially because Skylanders is far better than non-players realize, and it’s $75 bucks!

  • uPadWatcher

Peter Cullen’s voice: Just when you thought the Wii U Basic Set was officially dead… THINK AGAIN!

  • bizzy gie

More bundles! Pull in that installed base.

  • Is_Mort

Time for Nintendo to offer something to Early Adopters who paid 350 for a crap back in and no worthwhile games for an entire year.

  • SleepySkullhead

Basic is back? I guess they don’t expect buyers of this bundle to get more games.

  • THEMIGHTYDOOVDE

Im going to have one very happy 8 year old this christmas.

  • MujuraNoKamen

Nice, this will do well I’m sure.
Like I said last time about the Just Dance bundle, it’s great to see 3rd party games getting bundles that will expand the audience but we NEED, yes NEED both these and “hardcore” games, not just party games and kids’ stuff. A Watch Dogs/Bayonetta/Xeno bundle would be sweet and I’m awaiting confirmation on SM3DW bundle.
Keep up the good work, now all you have to do is actually advertise Wii U (jeez, a year down the line and I’m still saying this, I’m losing hope)
