Wii U sales in the UK rose 685% after Wind Waker HD release

wii-u-zelda-wind-waker-hd-bundle

According to the latest issue of MCV, the release of Wind Waker HD in the region sparked a sales jump of 685%. It’s not known exactly how many units that increase is, but that’s huge for a new release, as well as a brand new Wii U SKU.

Nintendo is pleased with the news, as Nintendo UK representative James Honeywell reaffirms that releasing new games in the region provided the jump start the company hoped to see with such a big release for the system. Wind Waker HD debuted at number four on the UK sales charts.

We have long believed that software sells hardware and it’s great to see that reaffirmed this week with an uplift of Wii U hardware sales to coincide with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

If you live in the UK and purchased one of the new Wind Waker HD Wii U bundles, let us know how you’re enjoying it in the comments below!

Nintendo’s rise has begun. This is fantastic news and this happened with a remake. I can’t imagine what’s next in store when Super Mario 3D World comes out. I still also wish the best of luck to Sony and Microsoft with their system launches. Time to game like we have never gamed before!

    • boynhisblobs

Thanks, refreshing to see someone who appreciates it all! Theres always been room for all of em.

    • Cesar Barroso

i’ve been gaming like never before since the Wii U launch, but yeah some momentum i’ve been waiting for Nitenndo.

      • Chris Aita

That makes two of us. Too many sleepless nights due to monster hunter.

        • Majora’s Mask

the wii u isnt as much as you say expect pikmin 3 there isnt a reason to buy a wii u now i bought on launch since nintendo had secured my purchase since the zelda tech demo but ww hd and mh3 dont change gaming ww hd is a 12year old game just republished and mh3 is very cheap but mh isnt a franchise you expect much from

          • asdfg

If you buy a console because of a tech demo, you’re gonna have a bad time.

It’s just a tech demo, they never said that would be a game.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I do recall them saying that it was a techo demo. Zelda HD that was shown at e3 was just Nintendo showing the power of the console.

          • Magnus Eriksson

On the other hand they said everything was tech demos. NSMBMii became NSMBU and many of their short mini games found their way to Nintendo Land and Wario Ware. Not saying that a tech demo should say everything, but it could, and should, show some directions atleast. I think many will be disappointed if Zelda tech demo looks better than the actual game…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True, but I don’t see the game looking like the tech demo. I’m gonna guess it’ll look similar to Skyward Sword with updated visual quality and some type of new gameplay in the mix.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Im actually afraid that they will take a totally different route this time. Maybe some mix between ALttP and SS. Something along with what they did to Mario3D world in Mario series. But thats just my fears. I do not believe that N will release their most expensive Zelda game to a console with no install base at all. If they were, then we will probably see it in the end of the lifecycle instead of 2014.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You bought the Wii U because of a tech demo? That’s a poor reason to do so. Tech demos don’t really show how the games run. It’s just there to show off it’s power as just a cheap way to woo you over(guess they succeeded). Should’ve waited to see some games running on it before securing a purchase, but that’s just me. To each their own.

          • Majora’s Mask

i didnt do it for the ech demo but i actually wanted zelda u and when i saw it i knew with these graphics it would be awsome

          • fireheartis1

The funny thing is I bought the Wii U for Pikmin 3 and because of my son’s behavior in school I still haven’t picked it up. I got mine at launch because of Pikmin 3, Reyman Legends, and AC3’s awesome GamePad features. I didn’t realize that Pikmin 3 and Reyman Legends would be delayed, but I’ve enjoyed my Wii U non the less with AC3. I think there was plenty of reasons to pick it up at launch, and the main reason it hasn’t been selling is lack of advertisement for the thing. What is Nintendo waiting for is what I’m asking. They have all this advertising on YouTube but non on regular TV. Many people still only watch regular TV, so this is one of the biggest blunders Nintendo has made in a long time. If they advertised like they did with the Wii it would sell, but for some reason I guess they think Internet advertising is enough. And man are they dead wrong on that one.

          • readypembroke

            your mom is very cheap

          • Majora’s Mask

huh? stfu asshole with what right you swear at people like that with no reason get a life troll

          • Morits Lian

Oooooooooo what an insult…I’m so hurt….

  • Hulkamania

WATCHA GONNA DO WHEN WII U AND HULKAMANIA RUN WILD ON THE WORLD BROTHER!

    • Sonic the Hedgehog

I hope I can contribute to Wii U sales just as much as that!

      • Mario

        Let’s hope you do!

        • Sonic the Hedgehog

We better! I have 3 games coming up!

      • Miles “Tails” Prower

Don’t worry Sonic most of your fans are on Nintendo platforms anyway. :)

        • Sonic the Hedgehog

Yeah! How ironic, though… coming from once our greatest rivals who are now even better allies!

          • Mario

Tell a me about it! That is ironic! Good think we’re allies now Sonic!

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

An old saying keep your friends close but your enemies even closer ;) I did a similair thing long ago on my old Metroid related website, I had a big rival there as well in both website and the game itself (as both being masters of the game) after a short argument we decided to work together on an even better website which lasted for a long time and became ever so populair until at one time the costs became to high and making it pretty impossible to keep it up without sponsors or cooperation by others.

I suppose a similair thing can be said about Sega and Sonic, well not really for Sega itself as they are doing pretty well as of late but perhaps for you it’ll be similair N fans love you. I for one will get your new game, on 3DS first and later also on WiiU (when I buy the WiiU I’ll probably buy your game with it) ;)

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

That’s true Sonic! That’s why we are always going to the Olympic games with Mario and his friends. I wonder if you guys have a platform cross over Sonic?

    • Ducked

Hulk your kinda dead now, there’s a new guy called Daniel Bryan…

Will Wii U sales dominate this holiday season?

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

      • DragonSilths

        lol WWE reference, nice.

        • Ducked

          lol thx

      • fireheartis1

Daniel Bryan the best wrestler the WWE has to offer right now. He’s technical skills rival that of Bret Hart and that’s one great accomplishment. Wish they would stop this whole Daniel Bryan is a B rated star and needs to stay there crap though.

        • DragonSilths

DB is great and all, but I say Punk is the best current WWE Superstar. But Punk, DB and Jericho are the top 3.

          • fireheartis1

True. Randy Orton was pretty good in the beginning, but now to me he’s just gotten stale. I don’t watch WWE as much as I do TNA, but I like all four DB, CM Punk, CJ, and RO. It’s too bad Wii U isn’t getting WWE 14 I’ve read that they fixed all the crap that THQ kept running with year after year.

          • DragonSilths

I also like Christian, Rey Mysterio, Undertaker, and The Shield. My all time favorite is HBK though. I don’t care for TNA, only guy I like on their is Jeff Hardy. And 2K sucks at making games lol.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Not really. I think WWE 14 will be good. Especially with Visual Concepts on board.

          • DragonSilths

I think the visuals of WWE 14 are plastic like…Honestly WWE SVR 2010 looked better. My issue with the WWE games is the terrible commentary. “WHAT A SPEAR”….uhh…that was like 5 minutes ago? Or “man he has taken a beating he needs to tag his partner.” Uh….its a 1 vs 1 match THERE ARE NO PARTENRS!!! lol Also the Rock being on the cover…the cover is terrible, The Rock has been gone for like 6 months now.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            So? It’s just a cover. :P

          • DragonSilths

True, but I admit I am a bit shallow. If it doesn’t look cool, then I want nothing to do with it. Whether its a game, or rooting for someone on a reality show. I root for the people who look cool lol. Plus I hate the Rock so I wouldn’t want to get a game with him on the front lol.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Or you could buy the game, take the box art out and make your own with your favorite wrestler. I still say you’re weird, but at least you’re honest. :P

          • DragonSilths

            Yup, I’m a weird one.

        • Ducked

Yeah I know, I think HBK will superkick DB to claim Orton the new WWE Champion, then Daniel Bryan wins in a rematch at Survivor Series. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the WWE championship and world title were unified to make the undisputed champion, since the world title is a joke now

        • Matt Lambourne

          John Cena is better

  • Hulkamania

This is great news… now all we need is more bundles here in North America… maybe a Call of Duty with headset included bundle because that games is so popular over here… and its going to have its own dedicated servers for Wii U.

    • Baum 「ツリー」

As far as I know you get the same bundles as Europe/Australia…
[MH3U, WW HD, NSMBU/NSLU, Lego City Undercover, ZombiU, Wii Fit U…hope I didn’t forget one)

      • http://www.w-o-n.org/ GoldDreams

As of right now North America will not be getting the NSMBU/NSLU bundle, the Lego City bundle, the Wii Fit U Bundle, the Wii Party bundle or the Just Dance bundle. The MH3U and ZombiU bundles are long gone which just leaves the Wind Waker bundle and the Nintendo Land bundle. If Nintendo was smart they’d do a Wii Sports Club bundle.

        • boynhisblobs

          Oh they will. They will.

Nintendo knows the power Wii Sports had last generation and definitely has something up their sleeves. Not being shown golf, boxing and baseball means they have some cool new gamepad features to been shown off later.
With these included at Xmas, more adults are gonna want this than kids.

        • Yousif Alromaithi

They will do it especially for America. God I can’t Wait I am finishing Wind Waker this week.

  • Lil J Moore

I’ll wait to post the bomb gifs until sales get even better.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Terrorist.

  • Simon Stevens

I bought wind waker HD and man did that game shine this time round….. lots of people in my neck of the woods went out and bought that particular bundle and I mean, LOTS, it’s like they were just waiting for the right price and software to go with it, it’s great to see, hopefully now, we’ll stop seeing so many pathetic people spouting that it’s off to it’s demise, those gta fps loving nerds really hurt the sales.

  • Super Buu

What do you have to say, haters? What do you have to say?

    • Gregg

      Shhhhh. don’t fish for Trolls.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Heard they make a good meal.

    • Magnus Eriksson

Yeah! Take that, haters! Wii U have sold 100 consoles more thanks to this bundle! ONE HUNDRED CONSOLES MORE!!@

      • Nintedward

        100 consoles more? gtfo…. lol
1000’s more in the UK alone.

        • Yousif Alromaithi

More like 7000 more. I bet in Europe it sold like 30-40 thousands. USA will sell similar. Anyways the debut of Mario and Wii U party will bomb heavy but it is a shame Nintendo did not bundle the Wii sports Club on the Wii U. Wii sports alone will cause a disaster to the market much like it’s fateful brother on the Wii. Wii sports and Resort sold well.

          • The Clockwork Being

Mario will make the numbers rise. Wii U party will also be good. But im just wondering will Wii Fit U be able to do something?

          • Magnus Eriksson

It could be the best chance to bring casuals back. Depends on the marketing, and the quality of the product.

          • Yousif Alromaithi

Off course Wii Fit U can do something.

      • Marcus Navarro

You’re usually smarter than that, Magnus. Maybe math’s not your strong suit?

        • Magnus Eriksson

You’re usually smarter than that, Marcus. Maybe jokes are not your strong suit?

          • Marcus Navarro

My my, the snark is strong with this one. :)

      • iamserious

I know why you say this but still show a little faith in Nintendo. A WW re-release did this which is quite impressive. Outside of the underwhelming 3rd party support, throw in 1st and 2nd party titles Sonic Lost World, Lego Marvel, Mario 3D, Wii FIt U, Donkey Kong, Smash, Monolith’s X, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart and a brand new Zelda title and Nintendo will be looking very good by next year to 3rd party devs.

        • Jon Turner

Yeah, to the point where said 3rd parties will wanna come back. Besides, I don’t think PS4 OR XBone are going to do that great.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think the PS4 will do just fine. Xbox One on the other hand will probably struggle with it’s launch lineup. It’s fun playing analyst.

          • Jon Turner

The PS4 won’t do that great in Japan. And honestly, I think PS4 could be Sony’s last console.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ll go out on a limb and say that Wii U will be Nintendo’s last console. I know that’s unlikely, but so is Sony leaving the console market. I think people exaggerate. It’s safer to reserve judgment for later. :P

          • Jon Turner

IMO, whatever happens, WiiU WON’T be Nintendo’s last console. Especially since it’s beginning to recover.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

And PS4 hasn’t even started. I just don’t see logic in it. No offense of course. I don’t think there’s a better way to say it than that. Wii U from what I can see is still down in charts. It does have a notable increase, but it’s still too early to say it’s going to blow up. The holiday will spell it out for all of us.

Of course Wii U won’t be it’s last console, neither will PS4 be the last of Sony.

          • Mario

            We can a least hope!

          • Magnus Eriksson

Both of you are maybe right. I think all of them are releasing their last consoles now. This market is changing now.

        • Simon Stevens

Bayonetta on Miley Cyrus’s wrecking ball lol Wii U is gonna have the best software of 2014, count onit ;)

      • Jacob D. Taylor

        Once again wrong Magnus

        • Magnus Eriksson

          Jacob, this was a joke.

  • Dylan Clark

eh… im still more excited about the REAL next gen consoles more still, but congrats i kinda like my wii u but im way more excited for XB1 and MGS V :D

    • Gregg

Lol. Aren’t you tired of marketing terms and buzz workds like NEXT GEN? Your WiiU is real. Enjoy it.

      • Dylan Clark

eh whatever still not as good looking graphic wise lol. cmon you guys arent excited for XB1 and PS4? dont pretend like ur not ;)

        • D.M.T

I’m not excited for XB1 and PS4 believe it or not. PS4 to me is just an upgraded PS3 and I don’t trust Microsoft anymore. MS wanted to screw gamers with all the DRM crap. I’m more excited for the Steambox which will be more powerful than both of those consoles.

          • Dylan Clark

yah i heard about steambox it should be pretty good if its not to expensive

          • Daniel Gonzalez

If you like using your PC to power up that Steambox, sure. Steambox itself is going to be double in price. :P

          • D.M.T

Nah I don’t think so. I predict the Steambox to be $500 and I will easily wait for a price drop

          • Daniel Gonzalez

According to sources, it will most likely be double the price. I’m going by that. Unless they find a way to lower it, then maybe $500. I just don’t see it that way. Plus the fact that you need a PC to actually run it properly, is a let down. I’ll wait for more details before saying anything further about it.

        • Jer81

I don’t care much about graphics. I want to het sucked into the game, Zelda (and other Nintendo games) give me that experience. I couldn’t care less about X1 and PS4.

          • Dylan Clark

yeah but high quality graphics make it more real for me makes it more immersive. ive gotten sucked into GTA V and its high quality world for the past 2 weeks lol so graphics really matter

          • Leo

There is a real life out of your window, just in case you didn’t know that.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Really? I see hookers getting beaten, pedestrians getting run over and people being car jacked. You’re right, real life is awesome! Thank you man, you did everyone a service.Give yourself a pat on the back.

          • Yoshifan3

you made me laugh so hard, i was grumpy and now im happy again.

but i acutally agree with alot of your posts too daniel, i hope we can play on the ps4 sometime. :)

          • Dylan Clark

lol you should go check it out!

          • Simon Stevens

I remember seeing Oblivion’s graphics for the first time, my goodness, I was scrabbling round trying to put my eye balls back in my head, graphics on a game like that really are paramount, that game stole away a lot of precious months for me lol got me through some tough times.

          • Dylan Clark

thats GTA V for me right now. im just like playing GTA Online and looking at the world and saying Oh my god… haha im defenitly going to get an Xbox One because of the fact that the next GTA wont be on Wii U thats for damn sure hah

          • Gregg

when I want REAL, I go outside. :P

          • Daniel Gonzalez

When life gets boring, I play GTA V. :P

          • Gregg

            Fair enough. lol

            -G

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

When I drive to work every day it’s exactly like GTA V on the highway xD

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            You lucky SOB.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

hehe not really often pretty annoying even if I wanted it would be impossible for real. When I drive to work I more likely drive from traffic jam to traffic jam :( wish I could drive to work GTA style for once…

          • Mario

How do you think I got so famous?

        • Jim Coles

No games for my kids to play so no sorry.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m gonna guess they’re too young. They’ll want one soon enough.

        • Simon Stevens

Not everybody wants the kind of games Sony and Microsoft deliver, graphics aren’t really that big of a carrot cake for me either, granted I couldn’t tolerate ps1 and n64 graphics anymore but I have no problem with the generations after it, wii u hardly has the inferior graphics people go on about, the games look stunning on my screen, if it doesn’t on yours then maybe your priority should be a better television before you consider “next gen” consoles lol, I’m pretty serious about that as the games don’t look as good on the lcd upstairs as they do on my plasma tv downstairs, I think the right tv set is necessary in seeing what the next line of consoles can really do.

        • Theiz Zzee

The graphic difference will be minimal. It was announced PS4 won’t be doing 4k gaming I am shocked lol. Ryse at 900p for XBOX One. Other games being upscaled to 1080p not native so umm what have the really accomplished at the end of the day other than herding sheep?

          • The True Gamer

Compare Killzone Shadowfall to Nintendo land. Which looks better??

          • Theiz Zzee

Killzone. That’s like comparing apples to oranges. They are different genres. Compare X to Titanfall it’s a tossup.

        • Gregg

Nope. I have 3 XBOX 360, 2 PS3, 4 Wii, a WiiU, 3 3DS. My Wii/WiiU/3DS, get far more use. I have a PS4 on order, but, I am not even remotely excited. Same system, same games, more power. Whoopty do…. WiiU grafics are awesome. 3DS grafics are Awesome. Hell, Gamecube and Xbox1 (see how dumb the name is now) had fine grafics. Grafics got old a long time ago

          • 00EpicGamer00

Just a question, why did you pre order a PS4 when you’re not interested in it? Why not just wait until their are games that you are interested in?

          • Gregg

Because I know there will be. Because I’ve had many hours of fun with my PS1/2/3. Because: Support. What you are suggesting creates a vicious cycle and gamers repeatedly make this same mistake and shoot themselves in the foot this way.
Developers wait for gamers, gamers wait for developers, round and round we go. Games die, systems die, entire companies die. This practice nearly killed the 3DS. And many bestowed the same fate to the WiiU. Even after turn around, many thing that could have been, will never be, if the same gamers, simply supported the console sooner.
If you want a platform to succeed, when asked if you want to play games on it, you have to raise your hand. You do this, by putting that console in your home. I support the entire game industry as much as I can, in as many ways as I can. Its a win-win
            -G

          • The True Gamer

I doubt they actually pre ordered a ps4. It’s the internet. Nobody buys a system thinking it’s the same games.

        • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I’m excited for PS4 yes but not for XB1.

      • Rinslowe

Hit the nail on the head, peeps say next gen because it isn’t real, not yet, not till next month…
        Then it’ll just be PS4 & Xb1…

    • starwars360

Wii U is next generation and same group with PS4 and Xbox One. So Wii is last generation while Wii U is current. Xbox 360 and PS3 will become last generation once Xbox One and PS4 land into stores.

Xbox One, Wii U and PS4 is 8th Generation. You must understand about real generation..

    • D.M.T

Between you and your dad, who’s next gen? You or him? The answer is you because you’re younger and he’s old. Same with Wii and Wii U, Wii is last gen and Wii U is next gen. Yes, the Wii U is a REAL next gen console, it’s not fake.

      • Dylan Clark

lol cmon guys chill i never said Wii U was bad. maybe i should rephrase. im more excited for the stronger more modern up to date systems such as PS4 and XB1 and its games. i am also excited for a couple wii u games too

        • capitalism1023

Wii U is already confirmed to have “PC like architecture” and can run DX11 features which has been stated by numerous developers and publishers. Go pay $500 for a media player and a little bit better graphics you little twit. This is an article about Zelda selling well. You wanna go talk with your bro’s about how much better the other systems are, go over to IGN or Kotaku.

          • Rinslowe

It runs DX equivalent features being OpenGL and it’s closer to 10.1…
Admittedly though there’s not a paradigm shift north between 10.1 and 11, but that’s up for debate…. And it’s custom…
But ultimately I also agree with what you’re saying!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

People get so riled up over nothing on here. If you’re happy with the Wii U, then why do you get so upset over what someone else thinks about it? Sounds like insecurity to me.

          • Yoshifan3

you gotta remember, this is a fanboy site, if you say something against nintendo, you get insulted and hanged for treason against their favorite company, but yet its ok for them to start dissing ps4 and xbox 1.

            oh the irony.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well it’s more a blogging/news site than anything. Naturally there will be a lot of fanboys here and that’s about any site. I do agree that people on here do a lot of that. They hate when you talk negative about Nintendo, but it’s okay for them to talk down the PS4 and Xbox One. Yeah, it’ hypocritical and moronic, but then again, that happens on Sony and Microsoft driven sites too. It doesn’t matter who does it more, just the mere fact that it happens.

Speaking for myself, I could care less what people think of my opinions nor do I care what they think of me. I’m not here to be popular or be a yes man to any company. I don’t hold allegiance to anyone. I made a few friends on here and it’s cool that I can at least talk to a fair amount of people who aren’t biased. Fanboys to me are at least entertaining and I don’t take them seriously at all. I do at least give them the benefit of the doubt when they do say something that makes sense.

I’ll get a Wii U when the time is right, but the PS4 looks more appealing to me right now.

          • Yoshifan3

somehow my comment is awaiting moderation? even though i didnt say anything bad?

but anyway, i actually agree with what all of you said, you seem like a really cool person, hopefully when the ps4 comes i can add you :)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think people flag comments for even petty things. I didn’t see anything that is remotely bad in your other post. Some people don’t like non-biased comments. I wouldn’t worry about them.

I do plan on getting a PS4 eventually. Just not sure when. :P

          • The True Gamer

I see you’re a Nintendo fanboy. There’s other games out their you know…

        • Mario

          Even my games?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

If you can touch it and feel it. It’s real. No arguments here.

      • The True Gamer

Who’s arguing? Technically, even the Nvidia shield is eighth gen

    • Dylan Clark

lol everyones downvoting me. i enjoy my Wii U im excited for some games but im more excited about XB1 and its exclusives guys. cmon lets just be gamers not systemists haha im more into the games than the systems. but its fact Wii U is not as strong as XB1 and PS4 not saying anything bad

      • Marcus Navarro

You’re being overtly facetious though, and semantics aren’t appreciated in many places. It’s like you’re saying you have nothing against black people, but they shouldn’t have sex with white people because you don’t like the way they look.

Also, the PS4/Wii U have more+better exclusives than the XBOne, so how you can be excited for that system for its “exclusives” is a bit of a head-scratcher.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Some people aren’t good with words. Agree with what you said, though.

        • Dylan Clark

thats the opposite of what i said. i can be a Nintendo gamer and enjoy other games too guys its not that serious. and as for the exclusives thing. yes i am excited for xb1 exclusives (ryse,halo5,dr3,sunset overdrive, forza 5) so on and so forth AND THATS ONLY AT LAUNCH haha im sooooo excited for xb1 man games are what matter to me

          • Simon Stevens

I would buy an xbox JUST for the comfortable controller, it’s like holding the worlds best penis lol it’s a great controller, other than that, Fable sells it to me much more than Uncharted ir Killzone could sell the ps3 to me, I loved my xbox (untilit red ringed), the last remnant was such a good game ^^

          • Marcus Navarro

“eh… im still more excited about the *REAL next gen consoles* more still, but congrats i kinda like my wii u but im way more excited for XB1 and MGS V :D”

            Yup. Still being overtly facetious.

      • 00EpicGamer00

You said it in a negative like tone. Such as emphasizing “real.” And people are probably confused why you want a Xbone…..there’s like nothing on that console. And it’s way too expensive (to me, anyway.) I say, you should save that $500 for something better. I’m not telling you what to do, I’m just making a friendly suggestion. $500 is allot for just a hobby.

  • http://skoruppa.jogger.pl skoruppa

    http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41546/UK/ – 1,268 + 1,268 * 685% = 9,9538 :) Nice. We will see how well I understood them :p

  • Googs

Is that 685% a rise from the total units sold, or from the units sold the past month? Because if it’s the second, then really it’s nothing to be proud about (because that would only be 27k consoles)

    • boynhisblobs

except that last months sales were 31K, so a 685% increase would mean more, not less. And those numbers are up from the month before and the month before that. Since Pikmin 3 its been a steady increase.

Either way, everyone is underestimating the power of wii sports coming soon. This Xmas when everyone sees Wii U bundles with wii sports club hd included, its going to be huge.

I know they haven’t announced this yet, but they will. I can see these being already on the system, no discs required.

      • Googs

Those are software sales, not console sales. If you can point me to a source that can tell me that they sold more than 2k units in the UK, then I’ll tell you you’re right. Until then, my point still stands.

  • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

    YEEEEESSSS!
I was really affraid by the sales of TWW in Japan, but this is a balm to my heart <3

    Go Wii U o/

    • Jon Turner

TTWW was never really going to do much in Japan, as HD remakes don’t do that well. However, the October 31st bundles are coming; those will help the system there.

  • John Andalora

According to vg247, the sales were at 5k, and this week they are at 45k.
Good start. Let’s see if that continues.

    • Ballzbeard

Is that for Japan or UK?

      • Nintenjoe82

EU I’d imagine. Japan sales went down with the release of WWHD

        • Jon Turner

Well, not exactly. It did marginally rise a bit, but then it went back down… probably because they’re waiting for the October bundles.

          • val berger

and with the october bundles it will skyrocket? you’re dreaming, they just don’t care.
I actually wouldn’t even say it’s a bad thing. Maybe Nintendo needs that lesson to learn that you just cannotsave a system with just throwing a remake out and hope everything will be fine. But then again, well, they might already have learned a LOT for their next systems launch …

          • Jon Turner

The October bundles in Japan aren’t even GOING to be a remake of ZELDA WWHD. It’s going to be for the upcoming Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, and Super Mario + Super Luigi.

          • val berger

in this case it’s even worse i guess :(
cmon nintendo, stop wasting resources and focus on something that keeps us excited.

          • Jacob D. Taylor

Sorry YOU are not excited. But it would highly seem the REST of us are!

      • John Andalora

When I saw the article I thought it said Uk.
But now I can’t find where it said it.
However, found another article that states if wii u solf 1,000, then it would be about 6k addition.

        http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/10/zelda_wind_waker_hd_release_triggers_685_percent_increase_in_uk_wii_u_hardware_sales

  • larz_1234

This is excellent news. I wonder how WWHD affected sales in the U.S. and other countries? Hopefully sales continue to increase.

    • Zuxs13

Didn’t do much of anything in Japan.

      • Theiz Zzee

Many people in Japan are waiting on their Bundle and now Australia is waiting on their’s

  • Miles “Tails” Prower

    Go Nintendo!

    • Sonic the Hedgehog

Yeah! Lets keep the Wii U running, Tails!

      • Mario

        Let’s a do this Sonic!

      • Miles “Tails” Prower

Yeah! I’m right behind you, Sonic! :D

        • DarkLegacy

I’m also there to help keep it running :) good news by the way, SE have decided to release there new footage on KH3 at D23 Expo this weekend on Oct 12th till Oct 14th. It is also said that they still didn’t have information on KH3 that they would release apart from the new clip that they’ll show.

          http://www.novacrystallis.com/2013/10/new-kingdom-hearts-iii-footage-expected-at-disneys-d23-event-this-weekend/

You can check it out there if you want to and if I see that new clip that they’ll show then I’ll send it to you but in the mean time, lets keep the Wii U running

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

            Sonic is so Awesome.
Like I was saying I would like to see the new footage on the Kingdom Hearts 3 so I would appreciate you sending it here. :)
Man that game is going to be so cool! I can’t wait to play it…When I buy a PS4 at least ^^’

          • DarkLegacy

Yep he is awesome and fast. Hopefully what they’ll show is cool gameplay or perhaps cutscenes so that a few KH fans know a little about the story. And glad to know that you’ll be getting a PS4, I got that on pre order too and I’ll sign in online and I’ll be going on multiplayer on it. And all I’m hoping is that the trailer that they’ll show off will have a release or perhaps they’ll do that next year

          • Jon Turner

Or better yet, that we get KH3 on WiiU. That would be AWESOME. Although that game is awhile off, so anything can happen. I have a feeling S-E may be forced too, though, especially since XBox One won’t do any good in Japan.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s more than likely, but you never know for sure. Crazier things have happened.

          • Jon Turner

As long as S-E didn’t rule out KH3 for WiiU, which we didn’t, I say we still have a chance. Of course I’m cautious in my hopes, but I’m still on the optimistic side for KH3 on WiiU at this point. I see no reason to believe otherwise.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I was more refering to the comment about Xbox One in Japan. As for KH3, while I’m not a fan of the franchise, I do see a chance of it coming to the Wii U. It would depend on where the Wii U is by the end of the year and if SE sees profit there.

          • Jon Turner

Well, KH3 is a LOOOOOOONG time off, so we won’t know for sure. But WiiU’s sales are beginning to climb and climb, and so I say there’s a chance. Still it’s not like SE ISN’T aboard WiiU: they’re giving us Deus Ex and a DQX2.0 in Japan.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Far as I know, DQ X 2.0 isn’t coming to the NA or Europe(they haven’t announced it from what I can tell), so I don’t see how that helps. I guess we’ll see though. I don’t Deus will do much at $50, especially when it’s $30 on other platforms.

          • Jon Turner

I was mentioning DQ X 2.0 as an example that S-E is still planning on releasing WiiU games even AFTER Deus Ex. But yes, that game is TOO pricey. At least in the UK they’ve chopped down the price.

          • Mario

A crazy world we live in. Right?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            When was it normal? :P

          • Mario

            Yeah.

          • DarkLegacy

True. I feel as if KH3 will be a good game to go on Wii U than Xbox One since every spin off game to KH has been on a Nintendo console. Although I can see that KH3 will be released on 2015 since SE are concentrating more on developing FFXV

          • Jon Turner

2015 may be a bit iffy. 2016 will be a better bet, and by that time WiiU will be in a MUCH better position than it is now. Square-Enix won’t want to resist briging KH3 to WiiU then. Especially since I see a bleak future for XBox One.

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

I bet the cut scene would make many fans happy, and hype the game up more too! Then fans would be dying on the inside having to wait a whole year! But it will be worth the wait.

          • DarkLegacy

Well there are a couple of fans that would like too see gameplay to it and since there are fans that want this wont have to be bored when there waiting for a game that they want more. Still they can play Final Fantasy XV if they are interested in playing that so that they don’t have to wait until development finishes

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

That’s true. I think Final Fantasy will hold over many fans. Until your game finishes. I wonder if the game play will have many new things added to it?

          • DarkLegacy

From what I think, that footage that we could see at D23 Expo could let us see what the main characters look like and the gameplay could show us some worlds or perhaps a couple of new techniques that have been added in the game

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

Or they could possible show one of the worlds you’ll be visiting? I think that would be interesting to show.

          • DarkLegacy

Hopefully it will be. it’s probably gonna be cutscenses or gameplay to show what you can do that hasn’t been in KH and hopefully it’ll show playable characters. however there may be a chance that you’ll be able to play as any character cause before it was announced, there was interview with Tetsuya that you might be able to play as any character like Donald or Goofy

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to play as Donald! He just seems so cool as a character in Kingdom Hearts. I hope they show that and a cut scene! Man, KH3 seems like it will get game of the year. It’s just such a good series!

          • DarkLegacy

Glad to know. I would hope that KH3 will be game of the year with good gameplay and graphics. I think that the trailer will show some cutscenes and gameplay but what I would like to see in this new footage that they’ll bring to D23 Expo is gameplay showing playable characters and new techniques too

          • Miles “Tails” Prower

Well it seems like it has the potential to become game of the year. Especially with its good gameplay and graphics, and a great story at that. Which is very well put together.

          • DarkLegacy

Yeah although now they might make FFXV game of the year with it’s 7 year development but who knows, there might be a chance that KH3 will be game of the year since fans have waited for this and this game will have better gameplay than all KH games everyone has played

    • Mario

      Yeah! Let’s a go!

  • Gregg

    BOOM. And it begins.

  • Re4wii2008

Well all I can say about this news:

  • starwars360

    Awesome. :)

  • Ballzbeard

I wish they’d release actual numbers.

  • Sydney Ultrasyd

And that’s only an easy remake : ) Wait for the real one.

  • Zuxs13

I am not too excited for this, it has done this already twice before then plummeted the following week. Only thing different this time is the bundles. So lets hope these bundles will carry over until the Mario Bundles come out, then maybe, we will see a slight turn around. otherwise take this with a grain of salt.

    • Schultz38

The difference is that Nintendo has other games lined up in the near future. When Pikmin 3 came out there was no other games to keep the momentum rolling. That’s why the numbers dropped then.

Now we have SM3DW, CoD Ghosts, Sonic, Wii Fit U, Wii Play U, then Donkey Kong in the New Year. So that combined is why this is good news.

      • Zuxs13

I’m sorry but none of the games except Mario will sell the console. And it will be another month for it to come out. Plenty of time for people to forget the wiiu and the sales to plummet again. And then after all these games, nothing until next spring.

        • Mario

Are you saying my former rival’s new game will not sell well?

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

He’s actually saying your former rival’s game IS a system seller. Many old time Sega fans jumped on the Nintendo boat after the untimingly dead of the Dreamcast.

          • Mario

            That’s a better!

        • Schultz38

What games will sell a system is completely a matter of opinion. However I do agree that Wii Fit U, Wii Play U and CoD aren’t system sellers.

Donkey and Sonic, on the other hand? Those are most definitely system sellers. This isn’t an extensive list either. There are multiple other big-ticket games coming to the Wii U in the next month or so.

I’ll be the first to say Nintendo could do MUCH better with their 1st and 3rd party Holiday Line-Up. But that doesn’t mean what they have isn’t going to work. It just won’t work as good as it could..

          • The True Gamer

I wouldn’t say dk and sonic are system sellers. Those will mostly appeal to Nintendo fans who already own the system. I don’t think Nintendo has any games that will take away sales from xb1 and ps4.

          • Schultz38

Nintendo has made it clear recently and in the past that their goal is not to compete with Sony and Microsoft. They do their own thing and they’re happy with that.

Nintendo wants people to buy a Wii U regardless of the other systems they buy. Sony and Microsoft want people to buy their system INSTEAD of the others.

So it being a matter of taking sales away isn’t really the issue.

          • The True Gamer

Nintendo does see themselves as out of that competition, but to many people, two systems may be something that they aren’t planning on buying soon. I’m not saying Nintendo is just for kids (which it isn’t just for kids), but Nintendo mainly has to sell to kids deciding which one console they can buy, while others can purchase the systems when they feel they should and when prices are decent. Xbox one and ps4 may be the first purchase for many people, but Wii u needs to earn its right to be the must have system for people with another system.

  • Hugh Quinn

    and it beguines

  • An Ignorant Duck

They’re risen by 685%…to 3 units per month.

    • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Your logic is false even if the system sold 1 unit per month, and it increased by 685% it would have sold 6.85 systems per month which is atleast twice as much as you stated, please redo the math before making senseless comments like that.

      • The True Gamer

Learn to take a joke. It’ll benefit you in life.

        • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I can say the same for you as you didn’t get mine either he said so it sold 3 Systems a month but 3 divided by 6(685%) is 0.5 which is not possible you can’t sell half a system. Either you sell 0 and the 685% increase is zero or you sell 1 and 685% is 6.85 consoles which again is impossible so it’ll be atleast 6 now next time you also learn to take a joke and it’ll benefit us both :)Instead of overreacting ;) I went in to much detail and I assumed that people understood I was making a mathematics joke ;)

          • The True Gamer

            I get it now. Lol!

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Sweet, glad we could subdue this little misunderstanding :)

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Wow. I’m sure he was joking. Calm down! Let’s drive to work GTA style. It will be fuuuuun…..minus getting arrested. :)

        • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I’m sorry people didn’t get my math joke I clearified it in my response to A True Gamer

  • The Clockwork Being

Guys this is a rise but let’s not forget when they said that the numbers went up 875% after the Microsoft presentation and it was only a few hundred consoles more. So I would like to see the numbers before and after so that we know this is truly a rise that marks the turn-around for the Wii U.

    • Magnus Eriksson

This! You are a sober guy. Thats what I like about you!

      • Andrew Chambers

They haven’t released new numbers yet, but the Wii U sales in Europe the week of Sep 28 were 5,627. So even if the UK accounted for just 100 of those sales that would mean WW caused the Wii U to sale 6,850 units.

Edit: I just looked at the numbers and it looks like for a couple of months the Wii U has sold between 1000-2000 units a week in the UK. The week of Sep 28 it sold 1,268. Assuming that it sold on par the week of Oct 5 then it can be estimated that the Wii U sold around 8,685 units in the UK this week.

        • RoyRelapse

miscalculation my friend, if it was 100 consoles and it would rise with 685% , that will be 685 consoles, simple as that (100/100%)*685=685

          • Andrew Chambers

I shouldn’t post when just waking up. There, I fixed it.

The real question is if there was a sales increase everywhere else as well.

          • RoyRelapse

Hahaha, coffee can fix such things

          • Genesect4ssb4

            Not if you dislike it.

          • fireheartis1

Dude how can you dislike coffee. It’s the best drink God gave to man.

          • Srpg2ishere

            Put some sugar in there!

          • nintendope

By that logic, if you sold 100 consoles and you had 100% increase you would have sold the same 100 consoles, sorry to say that you are wrong

            percentage increase = relative diference/reference number * 100

          • Jacob D. Taylor

A 100% increase of 100 would be 200. A 50% increase in sales is 50% of whatever you previously sold added to whatever you previously sold. Therefore a 685% INCREASE means 685% of whatever you originally sold was ADDED to whatever you originally sold.

          • nintendope

just to complement, percentage increase = relative diference/reference number * 100

      • Guest

        Thank you Magnus.

    • Nintedward

Except that was JUST Amazon, UK…. this however, is the whole of the UK’s sales which are sizeable and probably indicative for the rest of western Europe.

      • The Clockwork Being

True, true but I am just talking about being cautious before celebrating too fast. So I want to see the numbers first to be able to accept the news.

    • Clel

Yeah, after reading “How to Lie with Statistics”, I’m a bit doubtful about this figure. Also, you have to keep in mind that percentage increases mean almost nothing, since you can say it any way you like, ESPECIALLY if there is no solid basis.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

True. Until there’s actual figures, don’t believe everything you read in news.

      • The Clockwork Being

        Agreed.

  • Lil J Moore

Just wait till Mario 3d world hits

    • Mario

I’m a gotta show them what I can do!

  • SkullScience

What makes this so impressive is due to the fact of how hard it is to get Wii U software compared to other formats in the UK. The supermarkets pretend the Wii U doesn’t exist. Games shops have a tiny section designated for Wii U. Amazon really is the best bet. So with all that in mind, it is encouraging to see such a sales spike.

    • Andrew Chambers

The local game stores around here give it enough space. The Wii U section at Wal-Mart and Target are now the same size or bigger then the Wii section now.

  • tom

    This is refreshing news!

  • capitalism1023

And so it begins! The 3DS started turning around when Nintendo released the Ocarina of Time remake so it looks like WIndwaker will do the same for Wii U. Haters get ready to eat your words!

    • NkoSekirei

nah haters gonna eat $hit thats wat trolls eat

for those of you who are planning to buy this game. Best price available!!!! Got mine from there.

  • Marcus Navarro

    Last month’s sales were 31k.
    31k x 685%= 31k x 6.85= 212,350
    Damn.

    • Jared Garcia

That’s the first half in less than a month. Random but predictable cheering.

  • Guest

I hope this trend continues to the US!

  • iamserious

1,268 consoles would mean an increase to 8,685 consoles in 1 week. This is a good boost but lets hope that the price drop and continued great releases will continue this trend throughout the world especially the US. The price drop plus upcoming great releases Sonic Lost World, Wii Fit U, Mario 3D, Lego Marvel, Batman Origins, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Watch Dogs, Donkey Kong, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Bayonetta 2, Monolith Soft’s X, and a brand new Zelda game will more than likely push WIi U sales to levels even 3rd parties can’t deny. I sure got my Wind Waker Wii U bundle!

    • Jon Turner

Yeah, third parties will be crawling back when they see the increased sales of WiiU.

      • NkoSekirei

its gonna get better and better in coming months and begging of next year too

        • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ll take that one with a grain of salt.

      • The True Gamer

I don’t see them crawling back. They are benefitting Nintendo more than Nintendo is benefitting them. After all, the new systems are launching soon, and devs won’t focus too much of its efforts on significantly weaker hardware. Games may return to Wii u, like ea games, but probably not taking significant advantage of the gamepad.

        • Jon Turner

You may not see them crawling back, but I do see some of them doing so. The Japanese third parties in particular will be on board. And there’s still a chance for KH3 on WiiU.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Some I can agree with, but most I don’t really see happening. It’s not saying that Nintendo won’t be successful with third parties, it just won’t be with Wii U. That’s how I see it anyways.

          • Jon Turner

Fine, you can see it that way, but I stand behind my faith: Japanese third parties WILL be aboard the WiiU. Westerns, not so much.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

They might, or might not. Keep your faith, I’m not against it. Although, Japanese third parties aren’t enough. Having third parties in all parts of the world is what makes it more of a success. Japanese games imo aren’t as good as western games these days. Japan is more into RPG, but of course there is a significant amount of fans in the States and in Europe too.

Point being, having just Japanese third parties isn’t enough, considering how many Japanese games don’t always make it over to the west. That can be an issue there. I guess I prefer more western games. I have nothing against rpgs and puzzle games, just not a fan of them. To each their own.

          • Jon Turner

I guess I’m more of a JRPG fan, and I expect to see some on WiiU. Western was always gonna be iffy. EA DID say they’d be back, but… who knows. Ubisoft is kinda schizo, although I DO have to credit them for what they’ve done so far. I don’t see them dropping the system right away though. Activision has been surprisingly faithful. And WB, despite gimping multiplayer from BATMAN ARKHAM ORIGINS, is at least giving us the game, gimped though it may be. It could have been worse. Much worse.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Batman games are better as single player, you aren’t missing much to be honest. Lol. My brother is more of the JRPG fan such as Final Fantasy, though much less these days. That franchise is falling apart, least to me.

Ubisoft has done well, so I don’t see them leaving anytime soon. Activision is decent, and only natural they want their beloved CoD to be on every platform.

          • Jon Turner

Agreed. FF has lost its luster over the years. And FFVI is my favorite in the series. I honestly don’t think well be missing much with FFXV. But KH3 I DO see coming. Konami has been surprisingly quiet on WiiU, but my guess is that they aren’t ready to show their WiiU projects yet. Capcom support is guaranteed considering their successes on WiiU so far, as is Sega and Namco.

          • Simon Stevens

Nintendo = exclusive Dragon Quest games = take my money :)

  • val berger

It’s nice to see better sales of the system, but I think I’ll put the champagner on hold till there are a series of system sellers out for the system so the sales get more stable. I really don’t care about one jump in sale as a result of one zelda-remake. Especially not in the UK. UK sales used to be so damn bad, 685% may not even mean ‘many’ sold consoles but just much more than before. If this ain’t stay stable for the next months, it really doesn’t matter that much. Let’s see what happens when they release Mario. My biggest concern is, that there’s not too much on the radar after that. DK is a nice game for people already owning the system and smash bros is too far away. Mario Kart is the only Chance to bring some balance, let’s just hope they aren’t foolish enough to delay that till summer, it would be devastating.
Ah and sorry for being so negative, it’s been a hard year until now, so I can’t just switch to happy go lucky like that ;)

  • Rinslowe

    Whoomp there it is!

  • tom

I wonder if the Wii U has hit the 4 million mark?

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Far as I know, not yet.

      • tom

Cool last time i check it was 3.6 million( before Pikmin 3 release) as of second quarter of this year. Thanks

        • Daniel Gonzalez

3.59 actually, but 3.6 is still correct when you round it out. I’m just being technical. No problem dude. :P

        • Rinslowe

I’d make a guess at around 3.8+ million worldwide unit sales as of today…

        • sd

It should have or it should be close. It was selling around 30,000 a week since pikmin and before wind waker.

          • tom

I think by the time Mario 3d World is released it will easily hit the 4 million mark.

  • Agent721

Sales in the US will increase as well, considering how high up the bundle was on Gamestop’s top selling list for about a month.

    • sd

They tripled according to the figures.

      • Jon Turner

        Really? In the US? Where?

        • sd

VG chartz track the sales of hardware and software. The weeks prior to zelda being released showed sales in the US for the Wii U at 10,000 per week. The latest figures show 30,000 per week. Just head over to VG chartz and have a look.

But having said this the sales were 41,000 total for that week, which is still low. Also previous sales were 30,000 per week for the console( they increased to this after pikmin). But they need to be 100,000 a weeek for the Wii U to really succeed.

  • Merrfn

Went into my game store over in New Zealand and WWHD was sold out. Had to go to some “all-in-one” store and look at their bad display of games. Almost left without WWHD, because only one copy was left and it was hard to spot. Since then I have been playing it 3+ hours a day.

  • Guhtere

Imagine what Mario and Smash Bros will do.

    • NkoSekirei

yep and wind waker is awsome just beating normal mode last night im alrdy started hero mode and boy its no joke wen theres no heart drops to heal ur self

  • Mark

If you sell 0 consoles and have a 685% Increase, it is only 685 consoles sold..

    • The True Gamer

      Actually it’s 0 consoles sold smart one….0*6.85=0

  • AUDIE MURPHY

ITS ONLY THE BEGINNING NEW BUNDLES NEW PRICE MARIO SONIC WII FIT U ETC ETC ETC CHRISTMAS

  • Jonathan George Anaya

So, Nintendo sold a Whooping 685 Wii Us last month?

    • Geoffrey Tasker

      i laughed…

  • Wiiluigi

Wow! Thats unexpected. I thought there would’ve been some sales not as many. Simply because people kept complaining of the actual game being a remake but hey good for us Nintendo fans. I would love to know what the actual numbers are.

  • sd

They also increased 3 fold in the US according to VG chartz. I.e. the US weekly sales jumped from 10,000 weekly WiiU sales to 30,000 weekly sales.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Sales have been around the 28k mark for weeks, so a little smaller increase than that.

      • sd

Latest wii U sales in the US are 29,000 and 41,000 worldwide for the week ending 28/9/13. The week prior showed 10,000 for the US, and 10,000 each for the other territories. So the sales fell in the other territories ( zelda bundle not released). When I say triple I only meant in the US for this week, They only increased by 10,000 in total worldwide.

But the next 2 weeks will be interesting. The Wii U needs 100,000 sales weekly to have a chance of success. So its good, but not great still.

        http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/hw_date.php?reg=USA&ending=Weekly

you can change the date and region to get a more accurate view.

  • sd

Oh and if you look at information on vgchartz it says that the week before saw 1200 Wii Us sold in the UK (5000 in europe). After the windwaker bundle was released 8600 Wii U consoles were sold in Europe alone.

  • goatringo

Does anyone know if the latest firmware updates are included with this bundle?

    • fireheartis1

      They should be.

      • goatringo

Shamefully, i have followed this site daily since it it first went up after e3 2011. And still don,t own my own system. The money just hasn,t been there for me. I am now debating on the wwhd package, or a diffrent bundled with R. Legends. And buying wwhd spetat primarily to have a physical copy to hold. But i was just wondering what firmware updates came pre. Installed. Because in all honesty i just want to buy it, get it home and play. Odd that i can wait a year to buy the system. But not another hour for a download. Anyway. If anyone knows please let me know so i can make a final decision. Thanks my felow Nintendonians.

  • leo

and when they release zelda U…..

    • C4

      Over 9000% increase :D

      • leo

psshhh…. more like a trillion increase lol

  • oontz

Sorry Ashley but this type of reporting is bad and ruins this site.

“the release of Wind Waker HD in the region sparked a sales jump of 685%. It’s not known exactly how many units that increase is, but that’s huge for a new release,”

if you don’t know how many sales the 685% represents than how in the same breath can you say “that’s huge for a new release”? If you don’t know, then you don’t know.

    • C4

Check the source which is linked in the news ;) , It’s what Nintendo told them.

“Wii U UK sales rose by more than 685 per cent last week, Nintendo has told MCV.”

      • oontz

        You totally missed my point…

Ashley said ” It’s not known exactly how many units that increase is, but that’s huge for a new release”

So if you don’t know how many were sold how can you know it’s huge. %685 increase isn’t huge depending on what the original number was increased. Simple mathematics.

        • C4

Depends if you expect the release of Wind Waker to sell systems ;)

It’s kind of unusual for HD remakes.

I do get your point now , though :)

  • Laquandra Washpon

one hundred percent increase from 50,000 equals 100,000 to get y’all started
