Two million 3DS systems have been sold in the UK, according to MCV UK. These sale figures include all 3DS models, including the new, budget priced 2DS. No doubt the opportunity for UK customers to get a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land contributed to the increase of 3DS sales. Still, the 3DS is short of what the original DS managed to sell at the same stage in its lifecycle.
The first half of 2013 saw great games like Fire Emblem: Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf come to the system. The 3DS’ momentum continued into the holiday season with heavy hitting games Pokemon X and Y and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Overall, the 3DS has had an impressive year.
