Super Ubie Land coming to the eShop in early 2014

Notion Games proclaim to have Super Ubie Land finished by Christmas, but the game will see another name change.

Super-Ubie-Land

Super Ubie Land for Wii U should be complete by Christmas! Will release very soon 2014! Name will be changed again – Notion Games tweet

The game has already undergone one name change before, it went from Super Ubi Land to…well…Super Ubie Land. As you may have guessed Ubisoft took issue to the original name and as mentioned in the tweet it will go through a final name change before its release.

Based on the twitter comment above I think its safe to say we can expect this title to be in the eShop early 2014. It’s good to see developers supporting Nintendos latest home console as eagerly as Notion Games. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on this little gem but for those of you who are unaware of this title heres a 7 minute gameplay trailer for you to enjoy.

Let us know in the comments below if you’re aching for some Ubie action and if you will be purchasing this title as soon as it hits the eShop?

I hope that video shows an early build of the game, because the way that thing moves around the level is horrible for a good platformer. It looks way to abrupt.

Like the artstyle for the game, but I won’t buy it. There’re quite a lot other platformers on Wii U by now, that are far better than how this looks.

I think with some help this game could be really good and god knows I’ve played FAR worse on mobile

I will buy this just for the music, it gives me a really happy buzz ^^

  • Einar

    Not my kind of game.

Wii U is getting good indie support

    Good music, good platfroming.

If it is challenging enough and costs about $12 then I’ll buy it.

For some reason, that green glob guy makes me think of an Invader Zim character. Also, from the trailer, seems the game would give me that same feel-good, well… feel as Kirby games, particularly Kirby’s Epic Yarn, but at this point I’m not sure I would enjoy it nearly as much.

    This game looks amateur.

The controls look good, tight, and familiar. Very much a typical Mario style platformer… Just what we’re all lacking in our library of Wii U games… Not.

I wish more indies would be inspired by retro non-Mario platform games like Pshyco Fox, Wonder boy (The later, more rpg style ones, especially), and Dynamite headdy to name a few. Such a rich past to draw inspiration from.

Didn’t they need to change the name of this game because Ubisoft complained or something? Or am I thinking of something else?

Hey all! on the topic of 2d sidescrollers you might want to take a look at this game called ReVeN. It will have gameplay mechanics similar to that of Metroid, Deus Ex, and Crysis. I heard they will be doing a kickstarter in January and I think this game is worthy of being on the WiiU! Lets show some support to the indie devs making awesome games for our console! :D
