In order to celebrate the launch of Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Japan today, Sakurai’s daily Miiverse Super Smash Bros. post was an announcement of King Dedede’s triumphant return to Super Smash Brothers! All hail the King! The official website was updated as well with a character information page for Dedede along with a gallery of screenshots.
From what we can see in the screenshots, his move set looks to be more or less the same as it was in Brawl, as do his taunts which are also shown off in the images. Also if you look closely at the image where Dedede’s face is right next to the screen, it looks like his alternate pink outfit is returning from Brawl as well.
One thing about him that seems different though are his facial expressions. He seems more animated in this game, with a wider variety of moods and expressions, which themselves are more cartoony and exaggerated. Sakurai himself even describes them as “evocative” in his Miiverse post.
How about you guys? Are you happy to see King Dedede return? Will you be playing as him? Let us know in the comments!
