Shin’en developer working on another Wii U game

shin_en_defend_le_hardware_de_la_wii_uaebwl7rvhz

Developer Shin’en has been a long time supporter of Nintendo projects, so it’s not surprising to hear that they’ve got another project under wraps. Developer Martin Sauter discussed the project briefly in his most recent blog post, where he confirmed that the Wii U version of Fast Racing Neo would be more than just a remake of the Wii version. This is what Sauter had to say about the new project:

Plus there is another WiiU game I’m currently working on. It should get revealed in the next weeks, but that’s all I’m allowed to write at the moment.

We’re eager to hear more about this project, but considering the reveal of Fast Racing Neo and Nano Assault Neo, we wouldn’t be surprised to see another Neo project coming from the team.

Nano assault neo was pretty cool. I can’t wait to see what else they are working on. Shin’en are pretty cool devs to continue supporting Nintendo.

    • nin-10-doughfan

not just a cool game but also with nice graphics!

  • C4

    Looking forward to FRN :)

      Um…Hi?

  • CEObrainz

Will it be a Star Fox inspired game? Or am I just too hopeful….

    • Magnus Eriksson

I would love to see Neo Fast turn into F-Zero.

      • CMB

        me too

    • darkcreap

But it was speculated that that project might be done by other developer like Platinum Games. Remember Kamiya’s statement. Nevertheless, it was just his intention, it does not mean Nintendo will give him the chance.

  • Agent721

    Cool! The more the better!

  • YiyeUniverseMB

“It should get revealed in the next weeks” Will we see another late January Nintendo Direct like the one from the 23rd Jan last year that revealed X and WWHD?

    • sharlo galmo

I think by the end from Jan we gonna see one indeed. Fast Racing Neo would be for the first time on that Direct.

  • Iuri Borges

    F-Zero, I bet!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Please D:)
    Vote Up if you agree.

    • Nintenjoe82

Sorry for downer but that would be too similar to Fast Racing…

    • ICHI

I agree with Nintenjoe,, F-Zero and Fast Racing Neo being made at the same time would be silly for any company.

  • Marks

But shinen is a german nazi developer :(

    • starwars360

But you are german nazi player. :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • Nintenjoe82

Hope it’s something surprising but will probably be Jett Rocket U!

Let’s not get carried away that it’s Starfox…… but it might be!??

    Maybe Eternal Darkness

    • sharlo galmo

Nooo i think that Platinum is gonna make the new Starfox game, and i hope they gonna do it….

    • ICHI

      1080 Avalanche Neo :), I don’t really believe that, but man I would like a new 1080. It’s probably Jett Rocket U.

      • Nintenjoe82

Waverace U or Pilotwings would be sweet tooo

  • starwars360

    Awesome Shinen!!!

  • Shota

Shin’en neo allstar battle ? all shin ‘en franchise battle out in mini games would be cool

  • darkcreap

Ummm… Nice. More unexpected games coming. It is good to see these news

  • Oliver

I just wish Nintendo would throw some extra ressources at Shin’en, they are very capable and their games are always visually impressive, they just always seem to lack a little.. I mean the good outweighs the bad by far, but i could really seem them go a long way, with just a little more power to their team!

    • AceRuby

I feel they one of the few independent teams out their that could really become a normal big developer if they had the resources too and actually succeed. They have an excellent know how of how to get the best visually out of their games with a fraction of the costs and space they are are a very talented group and their small titles are easily some of the best on the eShop.

  • Skelterz

I would just like to say its my cats birthday today so yeah bit unrelated but you know he didn’t get much this year as he’s pushing 7 so yeah like pretty old just thought i would give whiskers a shout out and let everyone know that all what i just said is complete bullshit i don’t even have a cat im dangerously bored and would like better articles to pop up more frequently peace!

    • iamserious

      Whoa…

  • leo

    These people are just amazing!

  • Kyle

How much would Fast Racing Neo cost when it comes out? (Or a prediction),

    • readypembroke

      I say around $10 to $15

  • readypembroke

One thing I like about these people: They are very supportive of the Wii U and not hating on the Wii U.

  • Kidicarus1

This is nice. But on another subject, anyone notice that ign, and multiple other companies have acted like the wii u was never made? All you hear is playstation and xbox 24/7. I mean c’mon how does people expect Nintendo to sell if no one wants to even try!

  • Flawless Victory

    The possibilities!

  • http://exazblog.blogspot.com/ Prince_AKR

These guys are next Nintendo when it comes down to making software that uses the hardware to the max when it comes down to both gameplay-mechanics and of course, graphics.

Honestly; after the beauty that was Jett Rocket, Art of Balance, and FAST: Racing League and of course NANO ASSAULT Neo I’m dying to see what they do with the new FAST and this unannounced title.

They only make game for Nintendo, but they are more a 2nd party, cause they don’t make game or other company’s. I don’t know why they are not a 2nd party for Nintendo, cause they only like to make games for Nintendo.

  • sharlo galmo

I think this E3 we gonna see the best show from Nintendo, is long time we got a realy great E3 from them. I think we gonna see a Starfox,Metroid,Zelda we now for sure, and we gonna see more we never seen before.

  • CEObrainz

As Sharlo said, it would be amazing and smart of Nintendo to show it off this e3, however I’m not putting my hopes up.

  • darkcreap

Mmm, unless they have working on it for a while, I think it is a bit difficult to have a new Starfox game for E3. If it exist, it must be a secret project. Personally, knowing how many games Nintendo has been making recently, I think it is probable that they are not working on that project right now. Unless they already outsourced the project some time ago.

I think that they haven’t started yet (maybe we will see Hideki Kamiya working on it?), but apart from the reason I state above (that they have been busy with other projects), it is just my guess.

  • http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ Eiji Aonuma

    申し訳ありませんが、今回は接続しません。

  • sharlo galmo

DK is already finish. And Retro got more studio’s, Miyamoto already saying that. And believe me, they hire peeps from Naughty dog and many more, noooooway they do that for Donkey Kong, it is for a Metroid or maybe for a new IP.

  • DragonSilths

DKC TF will have gone gold in like 2-3 weeks, then they will start of Metroid,, so in 6 months they could whip up a teaser trailer.

  • AceRuby

To be honest Retro needs to do another franchise besides Metroid after DK honestly I don’t want to see the same stuff coming out of Retro all the time at all. Franchises like Kid Icarus , Star Fox , Star Tropics and others would be excellent IPs for Retro to work on and build their foundation even more towards being the Rare of old which was able to do the same for some of Nintendo’s IPs.

  • CEObrainz

You shouldn’t have had your hopes up for that, in fact it was the first time I had heard of it to be honest. Not worth anything better than DK.

  • http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ Eiji Aonuma

    Aonuma: I will enjoy it.

    jjbredsen: I’m sure you do.

    Aonuma: Thank you.

jjbredsen: When, in the new Zelda game or will you complete?

Aonuma: There is no information that can be disclosed at this time.

  • CEObrainz

Zelda is for Directs and E3 only imo….

  • Wildman

    I’m a fony. I used Google translate.

  • sharlo galmo

If it is not Metroid, i think a new IP. Cause they hired so must talented people, they also hired peeps how are good with online games. So it will be a game with good online, and DK don’t have online, and that’s when i though woooooow Metroid in the make, or maybe a brand new game. But i bet it is Metroid, because there are many hints on a Metroid game.

  • Guest

Stop pretend as Eiji. He is not here for username and never would be. You are funny guy who like playing act as Eiji and hopeful other people believe that Eiji is you but it is not you are fake. Lol

  • Magnus Eriksson

Good guess. My guess is that they will apologize for all their lies and announcing a new console.

  • DragonSilths

While it seems like there is no way Nintendo wont have a great E3 this year, I refuse to get hyped up with anything Nintendo anymore. They purposely get you hyped up for stuff we had no care for. Like that last Direct when Iwata was talking about bringing back a game from the Gamecube, I was like Starfox? F-Zero? No…fucking Chibi Robo. E3 isn’t as big of a deal as it used to be anyway, who knows if Nintendo will even do a press conference or just an E3 Direct again.

  • AceRuby

Could possibly be the best since E3 2010 if they play their cards right and have loads of titles to show off.

  • sharlo galmo

And why the must announcing a new console? Maybe they must announce a console that only make’s FPS,….

  • Magnus Eriksson

Aonuma: Lol. All of you got tricked to buy into our joke.

    jjbredsen: What do you mean?

    Aonuma: The Wii U…

jjbredsen: I don understand. What do you mean?

Aonuma: We rebuildt an XBox360 and branded it as Wii U just for fun. Just to see how many suckers there is. 4 M in total. Lol, you got trolled-big time :D

  • DragonSilths

Yup, freaking Naughty Dog guys, trying to take over instead of being a team player.

  • darkcreap

“And Retro got more studio’s, Miyamoto already saying that” Do you mean they have hired more people? Do you know when? I mean, was it long ago? By citing Miyamoto, you mean they are working with him? I am curious, because I have never seen that.

    EDIT: Maybe you mean this?

    http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/09/miyamoto_retro_studios_is_high_on_the_list_of_candidates_for_a_new_metroid_game

  • DragonSilths

Retro was made to do games Nintendo themselves had no time for. They will never do a new IP.

  • sharlo galmo

I know what you means, but that’s because of the Nintendo Directs i though this. But Nintendo gonna do a normal E3, the new Zelda is coming to E3, and maybe a Metroid, Starfox,Fzero etc etc. If they show those games on the E3, it must be on the Show, and not a live stream.

  • AceRuby

Iwata meant new IP released on the Gamecube (which Chibi-Robo is) not a known IP already established on prior consoles.

  • sharlo galmo

Miyamoto have say that Retro is big enough to work on two game at the same time, so there you have it. And at the VGX they ask that guy from Retro do you got more studios, and he say no comments……For 99% they got another studio, and that’s why they hired peeps for a big big game, i think Metroid or a new IP…..Maybe it will be Metroid x Starfox…..

  • Magnus Eriksson

You ask for logic? They will do it out of desperation, not logic.

  • sharlo galmo

it was almost a year ago that they hired people for a game. Miyamoto only saying that Retro is big enough to make two games at the same time, maybe they work together. At the VGX they ask that guy from Retro, if they got anohter studio, and he say no comment. Believe it they got a secret studio, we don’t know about.

    This is what miyamoto says,

“I think Retro has really come to a point at which it’s possible for it to have multiple lines running at the same time and having different projects in development. I totally think there are possibilities to see different projects from Retro in the future.”
    http://www.nintendo-insider.com/2013/09/20/miyamoto-retro-studios-a-very-high-priority-for-next-metroid-game/

check this, about the peeps they hired.

  • CMB

    try harder next time ;)

  • Nathan C.

The Wii U is more powerful than the 360…

  • Clel

Good to see you’re still trollin’ lively ;)

  • Magnus Eriksson

Did he say that? When? Before they lost 75% of the Metroid staff?

  • DragonSilths

Just cause Miyamoto said they could doesn’t mean they are.

  • DragonSilths

And that Starfox X Metroid was proven false and I’m glad cause that’s a shit idea. besides space there is no similarities. Why not have Starwars X Metroid then.

  • CEObrainz

When you say something the majority likes, that tends to happen….

  • Rinslowe

    You’re being primed I’d say…

  • sharlo galmo

A couple months ago he say it,so after they are gone . Nintendo got enough money to buy enough peeps or hired them.

  • darkcreap

See a sharlo galmo comment above this one. He pastes these links:
    http://www.nintendo-insider.com/2013/09/20/miyamoto-retro-studios-a-very-high-priority-for-next-metroid-game/

    http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/retro-studios-hires-top-artists-and-designers-from-bioware-vigil-and-juncti#.UsswddLuKzY

It seems odd that they hire artists at the second half of 2012 when they announced DKCTF at E3 2013 (and they probably had a lot of work done already). It is very likely that they have another studio working on another project, be it Metroid or another IP.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

Shin’en has been an official third party developer for Nintendo since 1999. They aren’t second party, however. I get what you’re trying to say, though.

  • sharlo galmo

I know that they are third party, but one who only make game for Nintendo a weird third party hihi….I count them like a second party studio…

  • Andy Samson

Trying hard to make it sound like you said it better? What part of “I don’t know why they are not a 2nd party for Nintendo” did we not understand?

  • sharlo galmo

Not only because of miyamoto dude, Nintendo build more building, and retro hired peeps isn’t that saying enough?

  • darkcreap

sharlo galmo shows a couple of links above this comment. If you take a look at them, it seems they hired people for art design at the second half of 2012, which is strange to say the least if it was going to be for DKCTF, because the game was in a very advanced state by that time already.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

    He was joking.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I just go by what they are classified as. They are more like second party, indeed.

  • Nostalgic_Chaos

Maybe some more info on Yarn Yoshi as well. It has been kept quiet for quite some time now.

  • DragonSilths

Your just hyping yourself up and will get let down in the end. Also remember that “rumor” about the Retro Studios Engine? That takes more man power to. So a game isn’t the only thing. Plus all the new blood that was hired for Retro was using DKC TF as a tutorial to tech them how Retro does their stuff. I know they aren’t making 2 games at once.

  • DragonSilths

Nintendo hires new people, doesn’t mean they are working on more games. You have to train the new people. The guys from Naughty Dog and such need to be taught how Retro does things since they aren’t calling the shots anymore, the few veterans at Retro call the shots. Though 1 of them quit a few months back.

  • darkcreap

    Mmmmm. Most interesting.

I do not know what those people did on their previous jobs (I mean, in which kind of games they worked in), but the fact that a lot are artist indicates that they were hiring people to design a new game. It could be Metroid, but it could be a new IP from Retro. People have been talking lately on them doing their own IP. I think it would be nice. Nintendo needs another new IP which isn’t the “typical Nintendo” franchise. Hope these people can do something as nice as Monolithsoft are doing.

It clearly seems they started the design phase of the game at the end of 2012. Taking into account that Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze was announced at E3 2013, I think it would be unlikely that they were hired for Donkey Kong, because design is especially important at early stages. So yes, there is definitely a second studio around there.

Again, that’s great: another unexpected game.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

Grrrrr! Angry fan! Yes, I get you don’t like me. I’m very hurt.

  • AceRuby

I don’t know about that honestly I just think they want Retro to establish themselves with Nintendo IPs first and then possibly give them a shot with a new IP eventually. They are a Nintendo first party developer after all and not like Rare which was a Nintendo 2nd party developer (they only owned half of the company not all of it).

  • Daniel Gonzalez

I’d rather see a new IP from Retro.

  • DragonSilths

Again…Art Design can come into effect for making a Game Engine…

  • DragonSilths

My point was the way he said it got everyone hyped up then just failed. He should have said it better.

  • DragonSilths

All I know is what I know. Unless Nintendo plans to change their contracts and all that jazz it isn’t happening any time soon.

  • Magnus Eriksson

    Didnt know that. :)

  • Magnus Eriksson

But they didnt announce DK. They announced Cranky Kong who did the same tricks as Uncle Scrooge in Duck Tales. It was a joke.

  • Magnus Eriksson

    lol

  • sharlo galmo

No dude i am not hyped, i know Nintendo very good, and i know we gonna get a Metroid, but when i don’t know. Nintendo is secretly about there games, so they let us now when they think the time is there.

Do youre research and you gonna know that they are working on two games on the same time. The new building from Nintendo is finish, and it is for 1500 peeps to work, what do you think those peeps gonna do,eating out there noses?

  • darkcreap

“I know they aren’t making 2 games at once.” Why are you so sure?

  • sharlo galmo

Did you know that the new Nintendo building is finish, and that it is for 1500 peeps who can work there?

  • Shota

i can talk and read japanese a little bit. Right now i’m learning spanish

  • darkcreap

Yes, that’s true, I’ll give you that. The question is that, if it is for a game engine, probably it is to make one or more games we do not know already (I presume DKCTF already had its engine by then?).

Don’t take me wrong, it is speculation, but I think it is a clue of something. As always, it is good to have a grain of salt with this.

  • Shota

i too wanna learn french after mastering spain language XD

  • DragonSilths

Cant say. Only that NDA prohibits any further discussion.

  • DragonSilths

I have no clue what your trying to say with your last paragraph. And do my research? I do…

  • DragonSilths

    Indeed.

  • Rinslowe

The real Joke was partaking in that event to begin with. Total waste of time.
