Wii Fit U is heading to retailers on January 10th

Nintendo has officially announced the availability of Wii Fit U for retail stores.

We’ve known that Wii Fit U was heading to retailers soon and Nintendo’s official site has carried the January 10th release date after announcing a delay, but today the release date was made official via an announcement from Nintendo. This means the retail package with the Wii Balance Board will be available for purchase for those who don’t already have one from previous Wii Fit games.

The one month free trial of the game will be available until January 31st, so if you can find a fit meter in stores you can register it to the console in order to keep the game for a mere $20. The full package will be available for $90, while a fit meter and game combo will be available for $50 in stores.

good…because my fat butt needs to lose some weight…my target is 40 pounds by my birthday, June 1

This is old news. It was announced at last month’s Direct that the game will be in stores on January 10th. But ok i guess not everyone watched the Direct.

    • Spencer Manigat

No one who will be buying Wii Fit U will ever know what a Nintendo Direct is.

  • BIG Franky

i think that they should’ve rebranded the balance board with the Wii U blue color so that when people see it in stores it stands out and makes people look twice to see that things have changed….. its a small, subtle change, but I think ti would be effective on end-caps.

I´ve bought the fit meter (already own Wii Fit Plus)… just to discover later that Wii U eShop is not available in my region (Brazil). Despite the fact that both Wii Shop and 3DS eShop are working, I think I´ll not be able to get Wii Fit U for “free”.

  • Nathan C.

I’ll get the free version of it…if only I get my hands on a fit meter and balance board.

    • Rick Valenta

You can get balance boards used on the cheap, ebay or local game shop. Fit meter on amazon. That’s the cheapest way to go.

    • Guy

I was going to do the same, but after enough searching I found the cheapest way to get a new balance board is to buy the Wii Fit U bundle. I still have the free downloaded version, so I’m just going to keep the sealed version of the game and use the meter to unlock the digital version.

Did anyone get trolled by a PS4 ad? Even after the ad finished the Wii Fit commercial didn’t show.

    • tronic307

      Same here.

      • Rick Valenta

Lol I love that other systems are trolling on WiiU daily…

    • Michael Hancock

      Yeah, just blackness.

    • bizzy gie

Yeah. I got the PS4 ad too. I was so confused. Then I saw it was an ad.

  • Dylan Groot

Hmm, I bought it today actually. Wii fit U plus balance board plus Fit Meter. All for 80 euro’s, not a bad deal!

  • Rick Valenta

Cool. I’m still a sucker for hard copies. Count me in on the game/fit meter combo.

  • Guesty Pooh!

I downloaded it last year after I ordered my fit meter.
It really does work and is a lot fun at the same time.
I had back surgery just over a year ago and have had to exercise ever since, it was either that or take painkillers for the rest of my life, I chose exercise.
Wii fit U absolutely works, the bobsled event kills my abs and I do sit ups everyday and I’m far from unfit.
Some of the events are just fluff but others really give you a workout and are hilarious at the same time.
    Well done Nintendo.

I bought a fit meter a week ago, I haven’t paired it yet. by the way, I hate that commercial. it’s lame and boring.

  • John Madsen

The delay is because they noticed bugs in the digital version with responsiveness with the wii fit board and the game the hoola hoop which works awesome in wii fit plus isn’t picking up moves like it should on the wii u version same with leaning games where you have to lean side to side

  • The Wolf 47

Is the board better than the original Wii Fit board or the same?

    • Rick Valenta

      Same board

  • Kevin Wickham

    HECK YA!!!!!!!!!!!
