GameFans Podcast #33 – Nintendo Direct lands; Titanfall beta consumes all

This week on the GameFans podcast, we discuss the recent Nintendo Direct news, including the many Wii U announcements as well as some of the Nintendo 3DS news. Of course we can’t escape the tornado of news surrounding the release of the Titanfall beta, which Mark was able to play when it dropped on Friday morning. Sony also had a great week, with the announcement that more than 60% of PS4 owners also own the PS Vita and that PlayStation Plus subscriptions have a pretty great attach rate.

The GameFans show wouldn’t be the same without Mark and Ashley fundamentally disagreeing on a few points, so be sure and check it out and let us know what you think!

Looking forward to your BD review Ashely. Definitely one of the best JRPG’s I’ve played in a looooooooooooong time.

Other than that a very solid show. I don’t have a whole lot to comment on it was just spot on. Maybe I would’ve liked to hear more about what you guys thought of the new X footage but I know that JRPG’s aren’t really your thing and it wasn’t a whole lot of footage so it’s understandable. It was also nice hearing MArk’s thoughts on the Titanfall beta. My PC is definitely not strong enough to play it and I don’t have an XBone so I dunno when the heck I’ll ever get the chance to try it although I really want to.

AH! over 60% of ps4 sales were sold to fans! who else owns a ps vita then fans and reviewers?

I think they spun it. I don’t think it’s 60% of PS4 owners went out and bought a Vita I think it’s that Vita owners had extra incentive to buy a PS4 and so a large percentage of them did. I mean there aren’t many great games on Vita, but if you own a PS4 you can play PS4 games on your Vita.

Don’t feel bad Mark, I also play almost everything and finish only like a third of them. The way I see it, I want all the new experiences and I’ll play a specific game for as long as it’s still really fun for me. If a game ever makes me feel like it’s a chore to continue “grinding through” I quit. I play for fun and relaxation not to fulfill my need to complete things. I go to work for that.

That’s one of the beauties of Wii U. My Wife and I play Wii U together and I use the Game Pad screen and my wife uses the TV screen that way we don’t have to do split screen. It works that way with Sonic Racing Transformed, Lego Batman 2, Tank Tank Tank and I’ve heard of others doing the same thing with Call of Duty on Wii U. Obviously games like NBA 2K13, Trine 2, Mario 3D World don’t have that problem, but for 2 players on Wii U split screen isn’t an issue.

Also you mentioned you’d play Mario Kart if there was online…there is for Mario Kart 7 on your 3DS.
