More details on Monolith Soft’s X revealed in Nintedo Direct

Today was a good day for Nintendo fans. There was a new Nintendo Direct with lots of new announcements, but among the most interesting was the reveal of new details about Monolith Soft’s X!

A new gameplay trailer was released showing the battle engine from the game. It clearly resembled the one from Xenoblade Chronicles, except according to the developer it will be “even more polished.” The characters are shown switching weapons in the middle of combat using shields swords and assault rifles, and can even jump in and out of the mech suits mid-battle!

So, what did you think of the trailer? Are you all excited yet? I know I am!

    God… X looks amazing

    • Magnus Eriksson

It didnt. It looked like an early PS3 game.

      • Lil J Moore

Looks more like a 64 title

        • David Trail

          Drunk guy here. Closing time!

          • Lil J Moore

            I’m not that drunk yet

          • David Trail

Well it’s time to go. You’re to drunk lol!

          • Google+GoToHell.

            Fuck you
            Xbox for life !!!
            Wii u suck.

        • Magnus Eriksson

          Lol, now you’re trolling :D

        • Google+GoToHell.

          Look more like NES.
hahahah What a piece of shit.
          Xbox for life !!!

      • David Trail

        You are blind.

        • oontz

It looks like a ps3 game… Not next gen.

          • TheRealTruthTeller

PC is next gen, like 4 generations ahead current consoles, but the Wii U is the only Console i feel is next gen, at least is trying to do something different than being the same old software and hardware but “updated”

          • oontz

            “PC is next gen”

PCs are not confined to such terms as generations. The hardware is constantly evolving on the PC platform. We don’t have to wait 5 years for new GPUs right?

Not to mention anyone with any computer knowledge knows that home game consoles are ALWAYS years behind current PC hardware… that’s why the ps4 only costs $399usd and not $1999usd.

This doesn’t deviate from the fact that “X” looks like its running on a PS3 and not a Next Gen Console like the Wiiu.

          • TheRealTruthTeller

i only payed like $299 for my rig, it was pretty cheap and i can play from Bioshock Infinite to Battlefield 4

Bloody Hell, a pc might not be counted as in “generations” but if it was, its obviously way better than consoles right now, PS4 Exclusives? Xbox Juan Exclusives? nothing but pure, rehashed garbage taht barely run 30 fps without lagging (looking at you Dead Rising 3)

The Fact that Getting from 60 fps to 30 fps makes me think that consoles are getting 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards, at least the wii u keeps the steady 49 fps, and dont reply saying that the eye “doesnt catch up to the 60 fps”s”, because, holy shit, playing on the pc then on a console really feels different

          • oontz

“its obviously way better than consoles right now”

Thank you Captain Obvious. Ever since the first home console was created… PCs were always better. This is general knowledge. Knowing this does not make you special.

            “nothing but pure, rehashed garbage”

Your opinion… however oddly enough the same can be said about the current/upcoming wiiu releases for which you have no issue with. Interesting.

“holy shit, playing on the pc then on a console really feels different”

            That’s because they are different.

          • TheRealTruthTeller

The point is, as long as you have fun, Graphics doesnt matter, maybe nintendo is always doing rehashes, im just saying that some games coming exclusively to the PS4 and the Xbox One are not really… special, i mean “Titanfall”? wow, COD With Mechas, “Destiny”? Borderlands Ripoff but without the cartoony graphics (which i love) im not saying they are bad, lots of people must love those games, for me, they are the same games ive played since COD 4, The only game that im really waiting for is Metal Gear Solid V, and thanks to MGR:R, i know its coming to pc, so for me, its going to be a WII U + PC combo

          • oontz

Again nothing more than your opinion.

            “Graphics doesnt matter”

            First it’s “don’t” not “doesnt”
Secondly… usually I agree but right now people are comparing Wiiu and PS4… people who can only afford one console. If the wiiu is on par with PS3 (which is evident with the gameplay demo of “X”) then that may sway consumers decisions when buying their next home console.

Enjoy your wiiu+pc combo, just like I’ll enjoy my wiiu+Ps3+PS4+PSvita+ios+PC+OSX combo. It shouldn’t matter which platform people enjoy games on right? The point is to enjoy games.

          • TheRealTruthTeller

Exactly, hope you have some fun :D
But yeah, dont really know why the wii u is getting so much hate :/

          • oontz

“Exactly, hope you have some fun”

            same, Game On!

          • Google+GoToHell.

you PC gamer can dreamed, we xboxers is the best.
Fuck the PC Overpriced, we might not have best graphics but we have something you don’t have. It called Kinect 2.0 motha fucka. It’s innovation than the fucking shitty GT Shit Titan.

Xbox better than you pc eat shit.

          • TheRealTruthTeller

i hope this is sarcasm, please let it be sarcasm

          • Google+GoToHell.

but its coming out this gen… wich is the next gen.so its next gen?

          • oontz

“”X” looks like its running on a PS3 and not a Next Gen Console like the Wiiu.”

            Maybe re-read again. Cheers

          • Google+GoToHell.

            Cool Story. Thanks for sharing.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Oh you silly fanboy you. You’re so adorable when you’re insecure.

          • steve

im just messing with ya, i see what you mean i just think that for the scale of it a ps3 would probly have a hard time running this game nicely. i would rather a game run nicely and look like a really good ps3 game then run below 30 frames with screen tearing to achieve the same level of graphics.

          • oontz

” i just think that for the scale of it a ps3 would probly have a hard time running this game nicely. i would rather a game run nicely and look like a really good ps3 game then run below 30 frames with screen tearing to achieve the same level of graphics”

Have you played GTAV? The PS3 was more than capable of running that and it looked amazing. One of the biggest open worlds in video game history.

      • Mario

        ARE YOU INSANE!!?? 0o0

        • NkoSekirei

hes being sarcastic if he wasnt then he would be a failed troll

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        You’re being too kind.

      • iamserious

Idk if you are being sarcastic or not but I actually agree that visually this game looks to be on par with PS3 graphics atithis point. Still looks pretty cool though.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s around PS3 graphics. Easy to tell really. I have nothing to say about it in terms of gameplay. I’m sure it’ll play smoothly enough.

          • matt

Your a blind troll them graphics are like a sharper skyrim with better faster gameplay…….

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            You’re*

      • steve

i think it looks good, i mean for the scale of it and its looks like its online, so i would say it looks pretty awesome. and it also is a horrible quality video.

      • Google+GoToHell.

PS3 or Wii U, They both suck
        Xbox for life !!!

    • Brandon

I thought it would be better. I dont see how this would be such a system seller.

      • blaster man

It won’t sell systems. At least not outside of Japan.

        • companyoflosers

true that within the us thers only a bit of cult following, but with the wii u doing as it is, they need more titles. general response however has been alot more positive than i think they would have thought it would be.

          • TaintedXGamer

you talk like US is the only place that get cults following nintendo games. don’t forget Europe and UK < i'm there. i'm definately Getting X since i loved Xenoblade chronicles…….Still looking for a copy of the last story, should have brought when it was still in large……. .-.

          • companyoflosers

we r all in the same demographic as far as japan is concerned. our game industry is also pretty much unified. what happens in the US happens in Europe. Japan is considered its own industry however since they dont rely on western gaming at all. they have their own thing going on and thats also why alot of whats over there doesnt make it west.

          • Google+GoToHell.

UK EU, Canada, Aus, you’re all garbage. You’re lucky enough that we save your ass from the neo-Nazi, without us, you all probably speaking german or Russian now, you piece of shit. And as for Japan, We should nuke every cities back in 1945 so that They wouldn’t even exist in this world anymore. Fuck Shittendoom. Piece of shit company, I’m glad that they’re doom now. And I can’t wait that days to come, because when shittendoom is gone, JRPG and every other shitty anime will be throw it into garpage and Microsoft will leading the way !!!!

          • Google+GoToHell.

            No one like UK/EU
            US is da best.

            Xbox for life !
            Fuck you for liking shittendoom.

          • Wildman

I disagree. I’m from the US and I am loving the UK right now.

        • Nintenjoe82

no but it will get the Nintendo fans who haven’t bought their Wii U yet to consider buying

        • Google+GoToHell.

Very true, Shittendoom is only gonna sell in Japan while we enojyed our beloved Xbox one in the US !!
          Xbox for life !!!

  • David Trail

    Can’t wait for X!

  • Nintenjoe82

    The silver lining

  • Sydney Ultrasyd

The best point of this direct. Next important step is E3 for Zelda.

    • companyoflosers

      cant come soon enough

  • RyuNoHadouken

i foresee many hours being played with this game :)

    • GregoryTheRainMaker

      This. :3

    • Nintendoro

You’ll spend hours killing one enemy mate. LOL

      • RyuNoHadouken

        hahahaha

    • matthew garcia

      I foresee many delays

    • Noteak

Idk i am gonna need to try a demo first, I have never played a WoW like rpg before.

      • TaintedXGamer

Get xenoblade chronicles… that’s will prepare you alot for this game WHEN it gets released and Xenoblade chronicles is a good game in it’s own rights. I should know, I played it and it is GOOOOOOD! :P

        • Noteak

I would, but $90 is a little steep on my budget. Do you think X will be the same?

    • Google+GoToHell.

      Fuck shittendoom

  • Adrian Brown

    Take that, PS4

    • Daniel Gonzalez

It has good visuals, just not on par with PS4 or Xbox One.

      • oontz

        Yeah exactly… Not even close.

      • Adrian Brown

nobody mentioned the visuals. It’s the game itself what makes it great

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Well to each their own on that one. Personally, I’ve seen a lot of games like this before, such as MMO’s. So for me, it’s nothing I haven’t played before, but that’s just me. If you like it, by all means buy it. I’ll most likely pass on it and wait for new game announcements.

          • Adrian Brown

well that’s OK. Just to clarify it’s not that I don’t like the PS4, I’ll get one probably for Black Friday to play so many awesome games, and it will be the perfect complement for the console I already have.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Wasn’t implying that you hated it, but it’s cool. No harm done. Yes, they both will complement each other this generation. Both will have their big exclusives which is what is more important along with good third party support. Only one I’m refusing to buy is Xbox One. I just don’t see the point of having to pay for Kinect.

          • Adrian Brown

My problem with One is their first party software. Sony has Naughty Dog and Santa Monica (God of War) and others, but MS? Rare is not the same it was before, and Halo is not my kind of game. Also, MS has the worst customer relationship I know

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, agreed. I used to love my 360 early on. Gears of War was probably my favorite exclusive, but after Epic sold the IP to Microsoft, I see no hope for it anymore. Halo was crap to me and never bought into the hype. After Kinect came around, I gave up on 360 and moved on to PS3, and never regretted it as their first party is far better in comparison.

I feel bad for Rare, they were better off with Nintendo and personally would love it if Nintendo bought them back and even rehired most of the former employees of Rare. One can dream. Now they’re a laughing stock with their lame Kinect Sports garbage. They deserve better.

          • Adrian Brown

Completely agreed. Nice chatting with you, dude!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Like wise. :)

          • readypembroke

The only bad part about the PS3 was the crappy ports. I love the exclusives like Sly 4 and Beyond: Two Souls that took me 3 days to beat. Hopefully Beyond: Two Souls wins a BAFTA Award!!

      • steve

        obviously

    • oontz

Take what exactly? That demo looked like a ps3 game. It has nothing on the visual fidelity of the ps4. Not even close.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

It does indeed have solid PS3 visuals, which to say isn’t bad at all. Though to actually say it’s on par or better than PS4, just means he hasn’t saw many PS4 games in action before or at the very least, watched trailers. Lol.

      • Adrian Brown

shouldn’t you be on PS4daily instead?

        • Daniel Gonzalez

There’s many Wii U Daily posters on PS4Daily expressing their opinions on PS4 games too. So why not here?

        • oontz

I own a wiiu, bought my deluxe on launch day… Day one supporter. I think that gives me the right to post on this site. I also own a ps4 and there is just no comparison between the two systems. Maybe you can only afford one console which is cool, but there is no need to be a blind fanboy. Give credit where credit is due, ps4 is a better gaming system than wiiu.

          • Adrian Brown

Vita is a better system than 3DS, but games talk. I’d like to see how the Wii U and PS4 will be one year from here based on games, which at the end, is what matters.

          • oontz
          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s what I love about Sony….we can expect a lot of great releases this year and can expect E3 to have many other games to be revealed for 2015 as well.

          • oontz

yeah it’s a good year to be a gamer!!!

          • sharlo galmo

95 indie games, and alot broken games from thirdparty’s….

          • oontz

You let your blind inner fanboy show through with that post. You can bash all you want. Truth is Sony has positioned themselves really well this generation. PS4 /Wiiu combo gamers are getting the best of best. Wiiu for just Nintendo exclusive games and PS4 for amazing Sony exclusives and all the next gen 3rd party content that ISN’T coming to the wiiu. Sorry if you can only afford one system, no need to be jealous about it.

          • sharlo galmo

Hah haha who is blind you or me? Do you realy think 100 aaa games coming haha blind fanboy, name 15 aaa title for the ps4 for this year, and how many firstparty games?

You are a donkey dud, only fonkeys knows who can afford one console, bit do you know what, right now I have 4 consoles, I am waiting for the xboxone to release in my country, and that will be my fifth console , I don’t need the ps4 cause I didn’t enjoy the ps3 that much. So donkey do your research before you say fanboy to someone , normal I never call someone a donkey but you deserve it……maybe I get the ps4 on 2016, only because the controller I choos the xboxon, and I don’t like shooters that much…..enjoy your indie games and broken shooters games donkey fanboy….

          • oontz

            Exactly.. point proven, thanks.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m gonna take it that his poor grammar is due him pounding the keys on his keyboard in anger at being called out. I can see why some youtube partners make a good living off fanboys.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Someones jealous.

  • Kenshin0011

I like how they talk about all the tiny little details on how the eshop 3DS games work, but then we just get raw X footage with no commentary whatsoever of the mechanics besides, “Takahashi says the battle system is like Xenoblade Chronicles”….DUR DUH DUR!

    • Sydney Ultrasyd

hehe, I saw this comment elsewhere

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

My excitement about playing this game has not changed….I will have this game on day one.

  • Adrian Brown

the awesomeness of this game caused ign to crash lol

    • elton john

Why, good news. I THINK X IS A MMO GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • companyoflosers

        its not, just multiplayer

        • Mario

Oh you don’t know that yet!

          • companyoflosers

yes i do. its the next game after xenoblade. monolith made that too and the combat interface is identical. if it was an mmo, they would have said by now. mmo’s arent nintendo’s thing anyways. theres so many reasons why its not.

          • Mario

            Right…

          • val berger

plus the userbase just isn’t big enough. With Warcraft and Elder Scrolls it’s not a really high risk as there are enough fans of the franchise + people who are into MMO games available on PC systems. On the WiiU the install base isn’t high enough plus the target group wouldn’t be big enough to make a MMO lucrative. If Nintendo would do like a Zelda MMO, it would PROPABLY work, but even this doesn’t necessarily have to be a sure thing.

          • gtosheex

they NEED to do a Pokemon MMO!!! wtf are they waiting for?!?! THAT would be a system seller for wii u imo

          • val berger

you may be right, only thing is that I don’t really care about Pokemon =)

          • TaintedXGamer

If Gamefreak Weren’t So Adamant about the main Pokemon series Being ONly On Handheld…. we could have had a really polished Pokemon Stadium/XD/coliesuim exqusite HD MMORPG On wii U. they could have easily made the trainers customisable like they did in X/Y. it would be a Big game indeed…..But this is yet again about Gamefreak…….They being sturbborn as hell and it shows…… We can still dream though… just Don’t expect it to happen any time soon….. we have those ocassional spinoffs so maybe a pokemon Mystery dungeon with online would be the closest we get to what we’re really Screaming for?

          • Google+GoToHell.

            Xbox one for life !!!
            Xbox >>> Wii U.

          • Wildman

So Xbox… as in Original Xbox?
That would be incorrect. I like Xbox One, but it has its limitations (Kinect 2.0)
Microsoft should do away with the gaming division and focus on operating systems and software. That’s where they came from.

          • companyoflosers

i dont see them doing a zelda mmo. i mean the fanbase is there for zelda games but idk how it would work. the biggest thing about zelda games is you are the hero who is imbued with the triforce or courage. the combat style is also one thing that makes zelda fun and taking that away and replacing it with moves that require cool downs and things like that doesnt sound as fun. zelda is fine where it is in my opnion they just need to make one. if the made an mmo, maybe one similar to the world of hyrule might be fun but i wouldnt go as far as making it part of the zelda ip.

          • val berger

Sorry man, I really didn’t mean they would propably do this, I was more referring to the strength of the franchise that would, in terms of success, allow this. The reasons you mentioned are in the end the reasons why they won’t do that for sure, I really just meant if they wanna go for MMO they would need a franchise as big & popular as Mario & Zelda. X is such a niche, it just wouldn’t work.

          • companyoflosers

ah! understood. you were just giving an example.

          • Google+GoToHell.

            Shittendoom is shit.

The WiiU is a weak console, who says that? This game looks so beatyfull, and did you see Mariokart? Thew WiiU proofs it got powerrrrrrrrrrrr…

    • David Trail

Most Wii U games look better than ps4/ Xbox One games despite the power difference.

      • oontz

Ha ha ha… Oh man. Someone has been smoking crack again.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeeeeeah….someone has been hitting the Nintenweed, and those who actually upvoted that. That’s hilarious.

      • Magnus Eriksson

        no they dont

    • Sydney Ultrasyd

Moving grass even. But I want to see more before judging. I watched Titan fall preview today, that was good looking.

      • oontz

        “Moving grass even”

Look at the grass… it moves… LOL!! Did you ONLY play wii last gen? Cause this looks like a ps3 game.

        • Sydney Ultrasyd

          Guys, i’m being sarcastic

          • oontz

I assumed so… but was playing it safe.

      • Magnus Eriksson

The moving grass part didnt look too good. I reacted on that specifically. So interesting to see that you push it as an interesting feature.

    • ZeldaFan83

Power huh? Well the power of a console is like a celebrity with loads of money they have so much that they don’t know what to do with it and don’t appreciate it, while an average person who doesn’t have a lot of money knows how to best use it to the max. Some say the PS4 is 10 times more powerful than the Wii U and while that may be true theoretically, no developer will be able to push the system to it’s true capabilities but the Wii U is a different case altogether. Look at Xenoblade or Skyward Sword for the Wii. A console that wasn’t even HD and those games looked absolutely gorgeous. Games coming out will look amazing on the Wii U. I’m not gonna say they will look better or less than PS4 or Xbox One but they will look truly great that I don’t think there will be a huge difference graphically unless you analyze every single pixel and only care about which one looks better. All games will look amazing this generation regardless of which console you play them on.

      • Sydney Ultrasyd

The resolution itself IS a big difference. Just play any Wii or GameCube on PC with emulator, high res, it’s changes everything. I’m not at all all into graphics, else I would just play on my PC, but I like nice visuals. Now, with HD TV, any little flaw is clearly visible, while the good old CRT had this kind of natural smooth anti-aliasing. Gameplay is important, but fps and resolution & overall look is important too in my opinion. I just avoid playing the Wii on my HD TV, it hurts. I prefer using an old CRT. Just my taste. A solid framerate is also better for the gameplay.
I often refer to lego City Undercover for exemple, a great game I enjoy playing, but that just looks bad. Clipping, muddy textures, bad anti-aliasing, low framerate. Could have been MUCH better with the same gameplay. But a console in its early life is never pushed to the max. We can, hopefully, expect some nice stuff on Wii U, but same for the PS4. Its power will be revealed later.

    • Magnus Eriksson

MK8 looks good, but this game is looking ok. Its on par with a PS3 game, nothing more.

      • NkoSekirei

        yea right

  • Lil J Moore

The only disappointment with me is no release date for Bayonetta 2 and X.

    • David Trail

That would have hit the nail on the head… Shame…

      • Lil J Moore

I love the gameboy advance VC starting off with Fusion and SuperStar Saga.

        • David Trail

That was really good but why show so little???

          • Lil J Moore

I get the feeling the Nintendo loves trolling us at times

          • David Trail

3 games? They could have killed it by showing 10 DS games but 3???

    • companyoflosers

      and no zelda!

      • Logan Hollis

        Zelda won’t show until E3

  • Moreck

    Looks awesome!!

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

That was one of the best things to see indeed, even more excited, I said so before and I say so again, even if X is only half as good as Xenoblade Chronicles I’m very happy, spent 340+ hour on Xenoblade Chronicles, did every quest in game, and bonded pretty much everyone you could bond, if this game truly only is as half as good as the above, then I’ll be super happy (only in World of Warcraft and Monster Hunter I spent more hours then in Xenoblade Chronicles).

On a somewhat negative note this game is also DAY ONE for me, but… …WHEN is DAY ONE? May?, June?, July?, September? December? all I know is that this game has been in development for almost three years now, shortly after Xenoblade was released this game got in development. Notice that it even wasn’t confirmed to even come in 2014, unlike Bayonetta which was confirmed to come in 2014. Or did I miss the confirmation for X to be 2014…

Edit: not talking about the semi-confirmation we got in 2013 at E3 but I mean today, Bayo was confirmed to be 2014 X was not right? (wants to cry now and go to bed, cry myself to sleep)

    • darkcreap

Yes, you were right. No “2014” clearly stated for X, that’s weird. Bayonetta was slated for 2014 very clearly, but they didn’t specify when. Mmmm

I notice they didn’t provide many dates for WiiU games. That’s not nice, I tell you.

    • ZeldaFan83

This Direct was clearly about games releasing this year. I would expect it around November. No date was given but all the other games had a release scheduled for 2014. I don’t see why this one wouldn’t release this year either.

      • companyoflosers

i dont think nintendo wanted to give an actual date because they dont know themselves. they dont rush their 2nd party studios for money’s sake unlike a certain other publisher *coughs* EA!

        • Mario

Monolith soft is a 1st party company dude.

          • companyoflosers

nintendo acquired monolith. a company that was once third party but becomes owned by a company like nintendo is 2nd party. nintendo microsoft and sony are all 1st party. 2nd parties tend to all be exclusive t their owners which is why they are confused for 1st

          • Mario

You might wanna look further into the company’s history to make sure you’re right.

          • companyoflosers

even if monolith wasnt acquired, it still develops exclusively for nintendo right now. they are currently 2nd party. past doesnt matter, its what they are doing now and they havnt developed for other consoles in a long time.

          • Koczk

            Just to clear things up:

A ‘2nd party company’ doesn’t always mean ‘ownership,’ even though it does with Monolith.

Instead, a 2nd party company is one that has committed all their software to a specific system as exclusives.

Monolith is not Nintendo, so they are not 1st party. Nintendo is 1st party, Sony is 1st party, Microsoft is 1st party.

1st party – This is a hardware/platform maker, who may also make games for their own system

2nd party (Monolith) – A software maker who is exclusive to a system (like Bungie was for Xbox). This company may or may not be owned by the 1st party they make exclusive games for.

3rd party – A developer who makes software that is not exclusive to any system.

          • ZeldaFan83

Sorry but that is incorrect. Monolith is 1st party because Nintendo owns all the stock in the company just as with Retro Studios. Because Nintendo owns the company that company is essentially Nintendo or a subsidiary of Nintendo. Rare was a 2nd party because Nintendo did not fully own the company. Nintendo can decide what Retro and Monolith work on and what they can’t if they wanted but they give them a fair amount of freedom to decide what games they wish to create.

        • ZeldaFan83

Monolith is 1st party if Nintendo owns them like Retro Studios, 2nd party are studios that develop for Nintendo exclusively like Next Level Games but Nintendo doesn’t own that studio.

          • Mario

That’s what I’m trying to tell him!

        • Logan Hollis

Let’s put it simply, first party is in-house, as in created and developed by one company. Second party is not developed in house, while they may be owned by a certain company, the devs’ salaries are not paid by the parent company. That’s 3nd party.

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

True, but remember that Xenoblade was shown for the first time 2 to 3 years prio to the actual NA and EU release (Monado beginning of the world it was called before E3 2008 or 2009, I forgot) I know X is in development since 2011 so it’s indeed unlikely that it won’t release this year, but you never know. I don’t mind waiting a bit more for this game though.

I have for now plenty of games to finish anyway on both 3DS and Wii U, so one more year wait doesn’t bother me if it has to take that ammount of time. As long as we won’t get a drought again, tbh I have a little bit a bad feeling, dkctf coming in 2 weeks, then next up mario kart for may 2014… Bayonetta maybe July, August? X maybe November or later, it doesn’t have an official name even :( so pardon me for being a bit worried after the pretty poor performance in 2013.

I’ll enjoy evey minute of Bayonetta and X. On that I’m sure atleast.

    • Nintenjoe82

they can’t only have Bayonetta planned so if X takes another year I’m sure we’ll get a few announcements in the coming months and e3

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Agreed, all we can do is wait and see. My WiiU and My body are ready :D

    • Rinslowe

I’m willing to bet their biggest challenges have been in the online components. They’re pretty sorted in every other aspect as a studio…

    • Logan Hollis

From what I’m hearing, the Japanese Direct mentioned something about a 2014 release for X.

      • Shaise

        So did the European Direct.

        • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Last year they mentioned 2014 yes, but this time they only said “games come to WiiU later” not specifically 2014, then the whole direct was about spring releases too. but only MK8 and dkctf seem to be making it, bayo was shown to be 2014 at tge trailers end, that’s more then X. Then again I don’t want Monolith to Rush X though. I don’t mind to wait longer for it.

          • Logan Hollis

Still, if their already stating 2014 in Japan and Europe, then it means is close to being done. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this year’s E3 focuses entirely on smash, Bayo 2, and X. As those are the three big games and if their getting release years in Japan and Europe then we can probably expect the game later this year. Possibly Q4?

Also, i had heard that the latest direct was supposed to be focused entirely on 2014 releases, so there’s that too. E3 can’t get here fast enough.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I heard it was spring releases, but what we heard and what we see is different, atleast the 4 games (mk8, Bayo, X and SSB) are still on scedule for 2014, yet I have to say that it feels pretty bleak to me, 4 games (announced) for a whole year, how come 3DS, PS3 and PS4 have more to offer in the next 3 months, it angers me and dissapoints me. It’s not fun to be let down by Nintendo the past 1.5 year now…

Lot’s of others are complaining about it too, yet Nintendo doesn’t seem to make a change, mostly false promises. It really hurts. If even only one of te above 4 games would come next month I would regain some faith, but honestly, and I don’t like to say it, but my faith grows dim, it’s fading away pretty fast as of late. I decided not to buy a WiiU on launch, and so only bought it like 2 weeks ago, 4 games I’m happy with, but they won’t keep me occupied for another 7-8 months…

          • Logan Hollis

Don’t look at nintendo to place blame, look at the developers who didn’t try to make good games for the system. It’s mostly their fault that the system is flopping, not nintendo’s.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I agree on the developers part they should have placed more effort in their mostly lame ports. They are to blame partially, but Nintendo is to blame as well, they imo launched WiiU about a year and a half to soon, but most disturbing is the effort they put in promoting the system, even now adverts for it are nowhere to be seen, and most of their directs and pretty much everything they do is focussed way to much on 3DS and not nearly enough on WiiU.

          • Logan Hollis

Yeah, both are at fault, i just find it annoying when people (and devs) place solely on nintendo instead of realizing that they played a part in it too.

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Japanese release for 2014, could mean a 2015 for NA and Europe, I don’t mind waiting for this though. Maybe I’m just so focussed on a release for it that it dissapoints me to have heard none… :(

        • Logan Hollis

We’ll probably get a release date at E3. Who knows, maybe they pull a fast one and keep the release date under wraps. E3 comes along and they wait til the end to of their presentation/direct to do X coverage. And then at the very end they announce that X is dropping at the end of the direct. Talk about throwing a curveball, it would completely wreck the market and people wouldn’t stop talking about the stunt that Nintendo pulled at E3. They are known to do some pretty crazy stuff for E3.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

True, wouldn’t be te first time indeed, and probably not the last either.

        • Logan Hollis

Here’s proof that it’s planned to release in all three regions this year. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2014/140130e.pdf

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

It’s nothing concrete but atleast it is more then we have seen during the direct. I truly hope we won’t have to wait to long for X and Bayo, for me in person that are the only two titles I’m super excited for, Mario Kart 8 not so much, excited yes, but not on my day one list, Smash Brothers also very excited, and maybe not a day one purchase, but atleast a week one or two purchase.

  • finch1229

    huge succeeded!

    • Anthony Sibilla

Next best meme of the year.

  • DragonSilths

    Absolute shit…
JK. X was looking so damn amazing. Shame we didn’t get a launch month…

    • NkoSekirei

at least we know its coming sometime this year so well find out its release date eventually but im glad its coming this year

      • DragonSilths

Mhm. September or October I say.

    • oontz

Didn’t look that great IMO, but if you’re happy with it cool.

      • DragonSilths

Hmm…I’m going to need a 2nd opinion to be sure, but I could have sworn your a troll on here…Your name looks familiar…

        • Daniel Gonzalez

He’s not. Lol. He just has an opinion most times that differs from most on WiiUDaily. The word troll gets thrown around here often. Personally, I think his post was fair and I tend to agree with it.

          • DragonSilths

When I asked for a 2nd opinion I would have taken anyone BUT yours. I know YOU ARE A TROLL.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Uh huh. Do tell what makes me a troll? Because I don’t go around worshiping Nintendo? Or is it because I don’t agree with everything you or everyone else has to say? I’d call you one, but I don’t go around throwing blind accusations in that regard. Just sounds to me you don’t like when people disagree with you. There’s a reason why people say “IMO” when posting. :)

          • DragonSilths

Perhaps troll was the wrong word….You are a pest? you are a guy who likes to stir the pot and start arguments and get everyone all upset. Not all the time granted…but most of the time you argue with everyone here. I’m not saying worship Nintendo, cause only the Nintendo fanboys do that. Call Nintendo out on the GENUINE bullshit. Not on the little things. But praise them on the good stuff they do, which isn’t much these days.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I can live with pest. I don’t see it as a bad thing, least that’s my opinion on it. I do praise them when I’m in the mood to and will give them credit when I feel it’s due. I guess you can say I have two sides to me. What can I say? I’m not the normal everyday guy. That’s about the best way to put it. ;P

          • DragonSilths

            Mhm.

          • Magnus Eriksson

            Nah

        • oontz

I have been a Nintendo fan and supporter since the NES. That doesn’t mean I also have to have an unrealistic outlook on the current state of Nintendo’s home console business. Nor does it mean I need to lower my standards to be happy and excited about this title.

          • DragonSilths

Hmm…Well if by some chance you are excited for something like FF15 or KH3 over this then I know my point.

          • oontz

I am not excited for any of those titles either.

          • steve

i get that its not for you or whatever but how is this dropping standards? its a big game thats online… its pretty ambitious and the graphics look great for what its on/ what its achieving. i just dont see why its a lower standard

          • oontz

“the graphics look great for what its on/ what its achieving.”

From what I’ve seen… in my opinion no.

      • steve

i think it will be a quality game, even if its not for me(wich i once said about monster hunter, until i let it rape me into liking it through hours of playing it). i would still respect it for being ambitious and not a rushed for a year full of patches game (cod, battlefield, skyrim, etc.).

        • oontz

Lot’s are games are patched all the time… not just those regular scapegoats.

          • steve

i mean of course the occasional minor patches are expected but there is clear difference between a couple minor patches and say battlefields major patches that keep the game from crashing and that fix major glitches that just make the game worthless till like 6 months after release.

  • Magnus Eriksson

How the hell was this a good day for Nintendo fans??? Most disappointing Direct ever. GBA on Virtual Console was the most exciting part for 41 minutes. I really thought they would show all the stuff they have saved from christmas. All the games they thought would generate 9M sold consoles. Its really saddening to see that Nintendo have no faith what so ever in a product that is that good. They lost confidence totally in the Wii U. Come on Nintendo! Stop fooling around and make Wii U sell.

    • Sydney Ultrasyd

Nah, you should be more positive. Nothing was more disapointing that this Direct annoucing something huge for the Wii U :D
Please understand, you have to keep your expectations to the minimum, and then everything is awesome

      • oontz

Ha ha… Yes if your expectations are set so low then you’ll always be happy.

    • Mario

Magnus, Magnus. Try to look at the good side of things!

      • Daniel Gonzalez

You’re right, we could convert it into a paper shredder.

    • Rinslowe

I actually thought the Direct was solid. If you’re a 3DS owner extremely solid. If just a Wii U owner then yeah, it was a little vague and lite. But overall a very decent Direct, all things considered. Both X and Bayonetta look like extremely polished – serious gaming experiences… And Mario Kart is obviously onto another WIN.
Nintendo address more on the topic of Virtual console, but people keep wanting everything all at once. It’s hard to please, when people are out for blood…

      • Magnus Eriksson

Of course it was good if you are a 3DS owner. But as a Wii U owner it didnt show anything new we didnt know 7 months ago. I think that sucks a bit. I want to see a Nintendo direct soon that gives 75% or more attention to Wii U games soon. Its needed.

        • Rinslowe

Arguably except “if” X would even get a 2014 release….
I think now that is pretty much guaranteed. For me that is enough. But I’m a sucker for Japanese RPG’s and RPG’s in general.

        • NkoSekirei

i do agree this direct was a letdown but at least we got to see some trailers of X and bayonetta 2.Also seeing liitle mac being confirmed for smash bros was also cool too.

    • Logan Hollis

Heym guess what, changes like what Iwata was talking about take time. More than likely, they had this presentation planned months in advance. I expect to see many changes over these next few months.

  • darkcreap

This, DK, Bayonetta and MK8 the only interesting points for me. Well, and Smash too, but the problem is that they didn’t cover smash. I wonder why? I hoped it was coming sooner than it seems.

Strangely, nothing about that famous crossover (SMT, I think) or Yarn Yoshi. No release date for X and very imprecise for Bayonetta. Nintendo is really struggling with development. It is just so strange… this is not typical in them, or is it?

    • C4

If~ those games all release in 2014 (DK, MK8, NES Remix 2, Smash, Bayo, Yoshi, FExSMT & hopefully X) it looks like a normal Nintendo year to me to be honest.

But as you said some of them are not guaranteed and the use of “2014” as release date doesn’t sound like it’s set in stone to me. Hmm…

  • David Trail

Looking forward to DS and GBA games this year : )

  • Lil J Moore
    • Mario

      You got that right Jake.

  • companyoflosers

so idk if its just the japanese voices or maybe me, but does anyone else half expect someone to yell “kage bunshin no jutsu!” during the fighting?

  • Will the3rd

It looks like when in school they sent you a homework and you did it the day before at 2 am. Random footage with no sense.
X is my most anticipated game of the year. And look what that means (no SSB, MK8, PS4, XB1, 3DS), so…

  • Skelterz

Best thing they showed hands down.

  • greengecko007

I want to be excited about this game, but it’s just not happening. The game looks a lot like White Knight Chronicles, with outdated game mechanics. There’s nothing more ridiculous than hitting a clearly out of range target with a sword, only to get in closer, swing, and see a “miss”. Graphically, it doesn’t look any better than year old PS3 games. With other RPGs coming out like The Witcher 3, I can’t see myself picking this up…

    • GregoryTheRainMaker

You don’t have to…I’ll play it in your place. All will be fine. v.v

    • Mario

      0.0 You are seriously sick.

    • oontz

The gameplay and graphics look dated compared to actual next gen experiences on other platforms. Looks like a second year ps3 title to me.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

They’re okay graphics, but nothing to brag about for sure.

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

Bodies are ready for this. I am ready for this.

    • Mario

I gotta get ready for this!

  • Joe Fraley

Yeah… I’m not very excited about this either. I know this developer has a devoted fan base, but I tried Xenoblade Chronicles for the first time a few months ago and was crazy bored. I’m glad for people who love the games, but this looks like more of the same.

    • GregoryTheRainMaker

      It’s okay..don’t play it. It’s perfectly fine.

      • Joe Fraley

I mean, I don’t feel obligated to play it, but I was surprised at how much hype this title is getting after I put Xenoblade down, which is the spiritual successor of this game, right?

        • NyallJodhan

          predecessor… or better: precursor…

    • oontz

I agree… Not seeing what all the fuss is about. Graphics and gameplay look dated.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

That and there’s a lot of games out there like this one. So it’s nothing that special. Since it’s a Nintendo first party, everyone nuts over it anyways.

        • NkoSekirei

          second party dude not first

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Monolith Soft is owned by Nintendo. Lol. That makes them 1st party bro. Second party is a third party company that is working along side a console’s manufacturer. For example, Next Level Games.

  • mojack411

Players 1-4. Co-op confirmed. This will be amazing.

MY question is why would you ever get out of the mechs? The part in the end when the player got out to take on that giant ape didn’t make sense to me. I’ll have to watch the trailer again to see if there was some meter I missed that might indicate fuel or ammo or something.

    • Untrentide

The mech’s seem to run off of fuel so they may have a fixed amount of time they can use it or it may use a resource while active.

  • NkoSekirei

i cant wait to play this game and the graphics are amazing and shows monolith taking a big step by pushing the wii u to its limit for this game

    • oontz

The graphics are far from amazing… It doesn’t look next gen to me. Looks like a ps3 game. I guess if you only ever gamed on a wii last generation then it would look amazing.

      • NkoSekirei

maybe cause ur judging by this trailer cause the game isnt finish yet

        • oontz

Well what else am I supposed to judge it by? They released a gameplay trailer and I have judged it based on what the developer has released. Should I use my imagination next time and picture it better than it is? HA ha

  • uPadWatcher

X have brutally murdered Lightning Returns!

  • Lil J Moore

They sure did love shooting that giant enemy in the ass a lot.

  • Nintenjoe82

I hope the online is good

  • wober2

I am so excited for this. If it is half as good as xenoblade I wont be disappointed.

  • oontz

It doesn’t look that great… Looks like a second year ps3 game to be honest. I was hoping for a bit more in the visual department considering the wiiu is better than last gen. Not seeing it with that gameplay demo. I’ll wait till closer to release to pass my final judgement but as of right now… Unimpressed.

    • Nintenjoe82
      • oontz

        Better than X?

        • Nintenjoe82

I think both X and Bayonetta look better than any 2nd year PS3 game that I owned. There’s lots going on in both of them that you don’t see much of in PS3 games like the modern particle effects and depth of field blur. Not to mention the fact that most multiplatform PS3 games have framerate issues and Bayonetta 2 looks very slick at 60fps. I think Nintendo (when they put in the effort) will make some of the best looking games of this generation but will have to cleverly disguise the limitations of the console with clever art styles. X is an interesting one because so far, the Wii U has struggled with large open environments especially the loading of them.

This pic is MGSIV and it looks pretty bland compared to Bayonetta and X but like with most games I won’t fully trust the footage til I play it myself. I am pretty sure both X and Bayonetta have had a slight visual downgrade since their teasers but that could just be the compression.

      • sharlo galmo

Hahahahaha are you serious dude, ps3 game looks better then this? try harder dude, you are just hating, look how much happen and it still 60fps.

          I mean X looks better than a 2nd year PS3 game silly!

Like I said below, MGS4 was considered amazing early in the PS3 life and if Bayonetta and X were on next gen, everyone would be wanking all over the 60fps, particle effects and draw distance but since it’s Wii U.

          I don’t think I’ve seen a multiplatform PS3 game run better than 25fps and that’s on a good day!

          • sharlo galmo

oooo sorry dude, i read wrong…..The WiiU is 4 or 5 times stronger then the ps360, but some peeps don’t wan’t to hear that, but it is stronger for sure……those games proofs that, games that comes next year gonna looks better then bayonetta 2, and X, just wait and see…

Watching the video again today … I have mixed feeling. I was so excited by the 1st trailer, it was very … cinematographic. Here with the real gameplay … I’m not fond of the fighting system, makes it look like an offline MMO. I do recognize I didn’t play Xenoblades yet, I’ll pick it very soon. But I can go with this kind of system when it’s the only RPG available, as long as the story and graphics are great.
For the graphics, it has that very MMO aspect … like guys always running in a flat land, which makes it difficult to judge with so few elements. Watching Titan Fall on the same day is maybe the reason why I’m not very impressed neither.
Anyway I’m pretty sure I’ll buy it :D

      • C4

“Looks like MMORPG” IMHO is saying a Porsche looks like a Beetle. While true it doesn’t say anything about performance and handling ;)

In fact I like how MMORPGs _look_, environments are made for exploration and some areas always look nice and relaxing. But most MMO games I tried are meh. Not really my (sub) genre.

  • Rinslowe

Sometimes you just get an unmistakable vibe about a game…
X “will be” my personal GOTY 2014!

And, I am almost certain on a fall release. Hopefully sooner.

  • Rinslowe

BTW – all this graphical banter about next gen visuals, last gen visuals is totally lame. Both “for and against” look like a bunch of flippin butt hurt fanboy’s!

    • oontz

Never thought I’d see you use an immature term like “butthurt” but here we are ;)

      • Rinslowe

When the shoe fits… Btw yes, you are one of the people I am addressing in the “against side” of the argument. Those that are shouting graphical superiority are equally lame on the subject…
        Go play some games people!

        • oontz

I am just disappointed, I expected more visually from this title and so far from what I have seen its more on par with ps3 than anything else. Doesn’t mean I think people won’t enjoy it. If you get enjoyment out of playing “X” when it releases than that’s great. People should play games but don’t tell me I’m looking at a Monet when in reality it’s something your kid painted.

          • Rinslowe

You’re just perpetuating your sentiments with other posters based on equally lame arguments. I’m not interested with either viewpoint…

          • oontz

I am speaking my opinion yes but if you actually compare games from ps3 to X… It’s clear that it’s on par with ps3, but not better. That doesn’t detract from the point that people will still enjoy and sink hundreds of hours into this title.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            True story.

          • C4

Couldn’t care less personally to be honest. Xenoblade made me want to explore the world, more then FF XIII or Skyrim. Technically the latter 2 of course have their advantages.

But I don’t think current RPGs with larger scale environments look as good as X will.

          • oontz

“But I don’t think current RPGs with larger scale environments look as good as X will.”

So you can see the future??? Mind Bottling!

          • C4

            Indeed :P

          • NkoSekirei

its not dude even monolith said their going to show wat the wii u can really do with X at full power so comparing to a ps3 game is complete nonsense especially wen wii u is more powerful then ps3 and 360.

          • oontz

I am simply comparing what I have seen so far… and so far it looks like it could have been programmed on a PS3. If you see something different that’s great. To me it is on par with PS3 visuals. If you only ever played a wii last generation then it’s understandable that this looks amazing to you. To me it looks last gen.

          • Alejandro A

If your about graphic realism I wouldn’t be using Monet as an example. From a “realist” point view Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Duer, Rembrandt, and Carravagio make Monet’s work look like “kid” paintings. Monet was an impressionist who used broad brush strokes and color to emphasize emotion not detail.

Back to the game, the video doesn’t have the greatest resolution, considering its taken from a stream. Even then, it wont probably have PS4 graphics by the time it releases but I personally don’t think the graphic jump from last gen to this gen has been all that huge. Definitely not like the jump from PS2 to PS3.

I don’t get why its such a big deal anyways. Its like saying last gen (Ps3 and 360) graphics are crap.

          • oontz

“I personally don’t think the graphic jump from last gen to this gen has been all that huge.”

That’s cool, I still use my PS3, along with my Wiiu and my PS4. The difference in the visual fidelity of the PS4 compared to the other two is VERY noticeable. It may also have to do with the home theatre I have for gaming, but the difference is big, just as big as PS2 to PS3.. IMO.

“Its like saying last gen (Ps3 and 360) graphics are crap.”

Not crap by any means… but still outdated now.

          • Alejandro A

I could see that. Watching stuff on the computer is different than playing the game on a nice setup (I’m sure the physics have seen a leap from last gen).

One game I will say that definitely looks incredible (where I can see a major leap) is Final Fantasy XV.

For me, what I look for most in a games graphics is the art direction (and how it works within the game in relation to the story, gameplay, and everything else). Textures and raw power can become outdated but art direction can always be taken in new directions.

I guess I’m not seeing a major leap cus a lot of games nowadays tend to lean towards a more realistic simulator type aesthetic and art direction that feels rather bland at times.

But yeah, I agree with you, X doesn’t have the visual chops of a PS4 game like FFXV but I still think it looks great nonetheless.

          • NkoSekirei

the game is not finish so i wouldnt be judging and the last few trailers the graphics of X looks amazing just like xenoblade which was a beautiful and epic game

          • oontz

“the last few trailers the graphics of X looks amazing”

As amazing as a PS3 action RPG yes.

  • Google+GoToHell.

    Titan Fall rip-off

    • NkoSekirei

how about stfu troll monolith knows how to make a good rpg game then anyone else by making changes to the formula and thats how xenoblade became a critically acclaim best rpg game.

      • Google+GoToHell.

Best my ass, Monster hunter +titan fall rip-off is not a critical acclaim. Face it, the only game is look interesting enough is this game and it’s a fucking rip-off.
Mario is already out and it’s shit
        Kart is shitter
Super smash bros same shit all over again.
Bayontee or whatever is graphically shit and gameplay is even more shit.
and the fact that I only know 5 wii U games is the shittiest thing I ever think off.
While we have TitanFall and Dead rising 3 which proof enough that xbox one is better than Shittendoom.

  • Kenshin0011

I like how Iwata’s priorities are to talk about all the tiny little details about how the eshop 3DS games work in depth, but then we just get raw X footage with no commentary whatsoever of the mechanics besides, “Takahashi says the battle system is like Xenoblade Chronicles”….DUR DUH DUR!

    • C4

      Well, that’s Iwata.

  • Jose David Castro Chacon

For all those who actually are arguing about graphics and stuff like that, if you guys haven’t played the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles don’t come here saying this game its not impressive but for those who really enjoy that awesome and superb game may know what I’m talking right now. In other words Xenoblade doesn’t need a huge hardware and graphics to shine that game shines into the Wii with that system delivers and excellent experience and “X” will not just the same as XC did probably will surpass that gem and become another legend in game history and that’s more important than that pathetic graphics plot greeting ;)

    • oontz

It’s a niche game and not a title that is going to move systems. It’s also going to be compared to other hardware by people currently on the fence about buying a new system. Why buy a wiiu? That’s the million dollar question.

      • http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008SRISGU#reader_B008SRISGU Adam Howell

It will help appeal to jrpg fans and will shift a small number of systems. They’d do need more exclusive jrpgs to boost the appeal of the system to the jrpg market.

        • oontz

The need other types of games in my opinion… to boost the appeal to the general gaming public, the people who don’t play JRPGs. JRPGs are a niche market as well, not mainstream.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

“hardcore” gamers need to be pleased too.. mainstream wise dk and mario kart are being released… and you said it yourself, they need other types.. has their been a jrpg on the wii u? not really… so yeah.. diversity… bro.. diversity

          • oontz

I agree about hardcore gamers, and deversity of game content. I just don’t see this game moving systems for Nintendo at all.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

it is hard to say… xenoblade generated a lot of buzz, unlike last story and pandora’s tower.. when x was revealed there was a lot of hype as well, hell, the x videos surprisingly have more views than bayonetta.. i know views dont equal sales but there are those who are buying a wii u just for this.. only time will tell though

          • oontz

Not that hard to say… you think this will move more consoles than SM3DW, Or Zelda WWHD, or the upcoming MK8?

I don’t think it will move that many consoles. JRPG is a very Niche market.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

i said it’s hard to say because it all depends on whether or not the xenoblade fans buy a console for it or end up waiting.. i think xenoblade sold about 500k in the u.s. …granted, it may be the most of those ppl already own a wii u, but yeah… like i said.. xenoblade generated buzz.. x may move a decent amount of units and that is fine imo.. i dont expect it to be a mario, dk, zelda, etc.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I can see people buying Wii U’s for Mario Kart, but X? That would make sense if it weren’t in the niche market. The mass market will ignore it. Most of it’s sales will most likely be in Japan. Indeed, though. Time will tell.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

i was never comparing it to mk or ssb or anything close to that.. obviously, this doesn’t have that appeal to the avg person, but again.. nintendo also needs “hardcore” games.. not everyone likes mk or dk and such.. it’s like those waiting for bayonetta 2.. they may not move as much consoles, but it will move some regardless.. it’s not like we are talking about a spiderman game lol

  • Fierce-Deity Link

to the people that are saying they aren’t impressed.. well, imo we won’t see the graphical capabilities until we see unique locations like in xenoblade.. in any case, if you havent played xenoblade then there is less hype for you.. that’s just what i think

    • NkoSekirei

agree the game looks amazing and i expect it will have day/night/clear to stormy enviroment changing like the first one and especially how realistic the night sky looks

  • Adrian

I loved Xenoblade, but I feel like the mechs might ruin the balance of the battle system. I hated the mechs in Xenosaga, and I hated the mechs in White knight chronicles. I’ll probably play mech free (except travel) unless I’m forced to use mechs in battle by the story.

    • C4

Yep. Potential for mech versus mech battles though :) Although they could be helpful on larger enemies… weaken a large enemy with the doll, then go close combat. Or support the rest of your party from the doll while they engage in close combat. If it allows more options and strategy it might be good.

      • NkoSekirei

we seen the trailers were their some big @$$ monsters on their so using mech to fight them is fine in my books

  • jrob23

I haven’t played Xenoblade so I view this game with open mind. Sadly, it’s meh. As many have said it just doesn’t look next gen or that it is pushing the envelope in any way. It’s supposedly an RPG and maybe someone who has experience can explain..it looks like a fps mmo does it not? A Nintendo version of Titanfall not nearly as polished looking? Though that could just be because it is a year away, dunno. I am happy for you Xeno lovers but just like Monster Hunter is not my bag, I am not sure this is either. And this will NOT move units much if at all. It’s very niche. Still, despite my personal preferences, it along with Bayo 2 were all the decent showings of this Direct.sadly

    • Adrian

it is not first person, or a shooter…it has equipable weapons that have a ranged attack…just like almost every RPG ever made.

      • jrob23

the action seems too fast to be a rpg, but I haven’t ever really played them so..

        • Adrian

Ah, you might not be familiar with the Action RPG genre. The character building system and game story are RPG, but the battle system is real time and free roaming (often based off of menus).

          • jrob23

I just started Fire Emblem..I see what you mean!!! Love it so far, now more intrigued by ‘X’…thanks!

        • C4

Xenoblade plays very fluid, even if the HUD looks a bit weird on first glance. IIRC long range attacks are actually slow in Xenoblade (I don’t use them) so that’s maybe something they wanted to change / improve.

    • NkoSekirei

you cant judge it if u havent played the first one and by the way the graphics of X looks amazing making it a next gen title for the wii u even monolith said their going to push wii u system to the max for this game

      • oontz

“by the way the graphics of X looks amazing”

Maybe you have problems with your vision… but the graphics look last gen (PS3 quality) rather than next gen.

  • http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008SRISGU#reader_B008SRISGU Adam Howell

    Looks fun to me

  • Suraj Alexander

    GAHHH!!! Got… To …..Get …. This …. NOW!!!!

  • Green

Whats this game called? X? More like Awesome XXXXXXXXX….These are the yokes ladies and gentleman.

  • Antar Rodríguez

    day one purchase for me

  • Jonathan George Anaya

Titanfall looks better. X is too Japanese for my tastes

    • GregoryTheRainMaker

      Ok.

    • NkoSekirei

meh….monolith knows how to make a good rpg game like for instance xenoblade one of the best rpg games to date so i expect X will top it.

    • Justin Gray

Titansall “looks” better. Let’s just wait and see if it runs in 720p and has frame rate issues and draw issues like ghosts. lol This game will be played by the people who buy it far more than Titanfall.

  • Ryushi

I am seriously stoked for this game — the one problem I have is I don’t think that is Shulk.

  • Elitepwnsface

I just hope they rerelease xenoblade for the wii u. There are a lot of people who haven’t played it that would love to.

  • Bradley Curtis Miller

I could not be more excited for this game it looked AMAZING!

  • Josie the Sketcher

Looks epic! Doesn’t need to be realistic to enjoy the game and I don’t care of the graphics aren’t on par with the PS4

    • C4

There won’t be a similar game on PS4. FF XV interior buildings and cutscenes look awesome so far though.

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

Soon! Really soon! X will be mine, and no one will stop me! Ha!

  • Beemo_Chop

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how the aggro system works. That was definitely one of the most important elements of the battle system in Xenoblade.

    • C4

I think special attacks fill the virtual (at least you can’t see it, unfortunately) aggro meter of enemies, normal attacks don’t. So if, say, AI Reyn (it’s Reyn time! :) ) attacks with his attacks he draws enemies attacks, and you can attack undetected with normal attacks and sparse special attack uses.

What really gave me problems is to trip some of the enemies because I can’t time attacks with the AI attacks. Without it some battles take endless time.

      • Beemo_Chop

My bad. I meant in the X gameplay video. I very much understood the system in Xenoblade. Obviously, the red circles are missing around the players. But I don’t see any sort icon or other visual around that would indicate aggro levels.

        • C4

I think it’s similar but tweaked to allow for better multiplayer, somehow.

  • NkoSekirei

this game is gonna be epic and the graphics are beyond amazing.

  • Adecentboy777

Oh my GOD, what a disappointment. I was hoping to buy and enjoy it, but after seeing the gameplay it is just totally not me!!! Well, 1 less game or Wii U for me :(

    • Fierce-Deity Link

have u played xenoblade? idk if you were expecting monster hunter but it is not really anything like that.. if need be, i’d say rent the game and see if you like it.. who knows, maybe this jrpg may be to ur liking :p

    • X3Charlie

It seemed complicated and tedious to me. Maybe when they explain it better I’ll understand.

      • Justin Gray

If you haven’t played Xenoblade, allow me to tell you about this battle system: It is very intuitive and addictive. You find yourself just looking for the next enemy for you to engage. The quests are fun and the story from Xenoblade just blows you away. It is awesome, to put it in a word. Your skills and abilities come from different areas and you buy into skill trees through growing affinity bonds with the other characters. You can then equip armor and craft gems and equip them in you gear to buff you. I can’t brag on the game enough. It was the first game to break into my top three in over 8 years. I have a feeling this new X game is going to be just glorious. But that is mere speculation.

    • NkoSekirei

so ur saying u dont want monolith change the formula around that made xenoblade a big success and while other rpgs are struggling with the same old crap.

  • GregoryTheRainMaker
  • Sheena

I’ll be buying a WiiU just for this game. Similarly, I bought a Wii just for Xenoblade Chronicles. I won’t regret either purchase :)

  • blindtiger

if x, watch dogs and hyrule warriors make it out, 2014 is gonna be a good year for wii u. (also hoping for bayonetta 1)

  • mar laguna

I felt in love with xenoblade why wouldn’t I be with X its just beautiful :3

  • Joe Ballbag

Finally, a real reason to buy a Wii U.

  • felony211662

  • http://people.ign.com/aztecninja225 Aztecninja225

Looks really fun cant wait to hear the sound track because Xenoblade had an amazing soundtrack and it looked amazing even if it was 480p! With it being 1080p i am even more exited for it!
