New video shows Nintendo 3DS activity log app

Check out the new activity log Nintendo is showing off for the Nintendo 3DS.

One of the big things missing from the current Nintendo 3DS app is a way to see how much time you’ve spent playing each game without having to go into the game specifically. Sure each game keeps track of the time you’ve spent, but if you wanted to see how much time you’ve spent on Monster Hunter 3 Ulitmate, you’d have to put in your cartridge and boot up the game to see your save file. it looks like Nintendo will be fixing this problem.

A new video uploaded to Nintendo’s official YouTube channel called the New Owner’s Guide shows off a new app called the Activity Log. It tracks how much time you’ve spent playing the 3DS, as well as various other information, such as how many steps you’ve taken and how many games you’ve played. It will likely be coming in a spring update for the Nintendo 3DS, so expect to see more about the activity log announced tomorrow during the Nintendo Direct.

add this to the pile of useless features

I like it, actually. It gives players another data point by which to estimate the value of a purchase. For instance, I played SteamWorld Dig for ~9 hours, or roughly a dollar an hour. And as a stat junkie it’s kind of fun to see which games eat up more of my time than others.

I’m pretty sure the activity log has been out for a long time. I’ve been using it since the 3DS first came out.

guys, guys… this is incorrect. The activity log has been on the 3DS for years. I already can see how much time I spent playing a game, how many times I used it, etc. Also the step thing.

You should update the “news” because this app comes with every 3DS by default.

Now if only they could bring all the feature the 3DS version has to the Wii U. The Wii U Data Log is very simple and lacks a lot of the other features.

Yeah, I’ve been using this feature since I got the 3DS the day it came out. Sorry, Ashley.

    Is it April Fools?

I feel like this is FB or somthing where someone hacked someones account to post something that makes everyone wonder what is going on. The activity log has been on the 3DS since day one and it keeps track of everything you play, even DS games. Once it is played on the system, the activity log keeps track of playtime and the number of times the game or app was loaded. I am so confused on the “news” of this article.

I used to doubt if John Kingsley even owned a Nintendo console.

Uuhhhhh ” It will likely be coming in a spring update for the Nintendo 3DS, so expect to see more about the activity log announced tomorrow during the Nintendo Direct.”
Ashley, what’s going on? This ‘new app’ has been out ever since the original 3ds has been out. I’ve been using it all the time.
