Masahiro Sakurai has revealed today that Waluigi will be making his return to Super Smash Bros., but not as a playable character as some have hoped. Today’s screenshot reveals Waluigi as an assist trophy, once again trying to horn in on the action. Sakurai’s Miiverse update for the screenshot is rather humorous as well:
“Once again, Waluigi’s Assist Trophy joins the collection!! …Which also means he’s not a playable character. Just because you try hard doesn’t mean you’ll make it into the battle.”
This will likely disappoint those players who hoped that Waluigi would be upgraded to roster status this time around, but there’s always future Smash games.
