Watch Dogs for Wii U is still coming, but it’s delayed behind other versions

According to Ubisoft's financial Q3 conference call, Watch Dogs for Wii U is still in development but will be delayed.

watchdogs5

The saga of the Wii U version of Watch Dogs seems to have finally come to a close, though on a bittersweet note. After rumors that the Wii U version was cancelled and the filing of a false USPTO trademark, gamers were unsure if the Wii U version would be seeing release at all. Ubisoft refused to comment on the matter even when asked by Emily Rogers, which further fueled the speculation.

Ubisoft’s Q3 financials are out today and the conference call revealed that Watch Dogs for the Wii U is still coming, it’s just been delayed behind other versions. This was Ubisoft’s statement to VideoGamer:

“We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft”.

Will you still be getting the game after this news, or will you pick it up on a different platform? Let us know!

So why not just cancel the Wii U version? If its delayed too much longer no one will buy it. If it is only two weeks or so i think many people would have bought it still will. But some how i doubt this is a two week delay..

    • Magnus Eriksson

Agree, they should cancel it. It would be the best thing to do. :)

      • Skelterz

hahahah people can’t seem to put there finger on you can they.

      • Rich Garriques

yeah lets just permanently ban magnus eriksson thats the best thing to do :)

tired of of his anti both sides of the fence rants about wii u if you dont like nintendo dont come on nintendo sites and spew your garbage

        • MujuraNoKamen

I wish all the trolls would go away but people here are dumb enough to keep feeding them. 50% of the comments section nowadays is 1 troll comment and tens of people responding to it saying “go away hater” I wish people would understand they wont go away if they keep getting the attention they want JUST FUCKING IGNORE THEM GUYS!!!! Fanboys (both for and against Nintendo) are ruining this site.

    • D.M.T

No it shouldn’t be cancelled. Better late than never. I shouldn’t be forced to buy a PS4 or Xbox One to play this game.

      • Zuxs13

No its not better late then never, if its too late. You wont be forced to buy an Xbone or PS4, you can buy the game for a PS3 or 360.

  • Sydney Ultrasyd

I told you, they are very very late !

  • Donaald

I hope they don’t delay it for too long.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

    The delay saga continues.

  • ZeldaFan83

The Wii U version is where it’s at and that’s what I’ll be getting.

  • Gabe Hoffman

As long as its not too long. I am okay with this

  • Yen

Then after the Wii U version is released they’ll come out to say that the Wii U version did terrible in sales compared to the other versions.

    • Black leg sanji

      Exactly!!!

    • abe

i suspect it was canceled then after we pestered via social networks they did an U turn

    • Gardevoir Eliz

delayed Rayman Legends Wii U for PS360 release which ended up
selling best on Wii U, and now pull this shit.

      Update: Stop downvoting facts trolls/haters

      • val berger

It’s a completely different target audience. It really sucked what they did with Rayman, ESPECIALLY if it sold best on the WiiU, which really means a lot in this case. BUT Rayman also perfectly fits to the WiiU’s target audience so I don’t think it’s a surprise that it sold quite good. ZombiU for instance didn’t sell too good and every other Shooter, Stealthgame, Actionadventure didn’t either, so you shouldn’t compare Rayman with Watchdogs. Ubisoft isn’t always right with what they are doing, but they aren’t stupid either.

      • John Andalora

        1) Your point is false.

PS3 currently has the highest sales of Rayman Legends with 300,000 units.

        Wii U has 280,000.

        http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Rayman+Legends

        2) Here’s another fact for you.

        http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Assassin%27s+Creed+IV

Assassin’s Creed 4 sold 0.13 million units on Wii U, while Xbone and PS4 sold 0.64 and 1.28.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

But what? You cut off. Lol.

          • John Andalora

Yeah. It was supposed to be that I added a fun fact and then pointed out that Wii U has had other games sell terribly and that Rayman was one of few. Then I found out that Rayman still sold better on other consoles.

        • jrob23

the attach rate is way better on the Wii U. WAY better

          • John Andalora

Would you care to link an article to prove it?

          • jrob23

attach rate is number of sales per console. Are you questioning whether 280K Rayman Legends for 6 million Wii U’s sold is not many times better than 300k Rayman Legends for 70 million PS3′s? Seriously are you asking that with sincerity or trolling? If you are serious I am worried about you.
But to make it easier to comprehend. With just 6 million install base of the Wii U, it sold only 20K (according to the chart provided above) less than the PS3 which has I am guessing like 70 million sold. So a greater percentage of Wii U owners bought Rayman than PS3 owners. I imagine there are many like me who refuse to support them and didn’t buy it but otherwise would have so the number of Wii U could be even larger. Also, the price just dropped so numbers across the board should improve, especially Wii U

          • John Andalora

I was sincerely asking because the articles I found on attachment rate did not properly define it.

However, here’s my issue with attachment rate:
The percentage of units sold / console is absolutely irrelevant in terms of cost to make the game and general sales overall. No company ever cares about how many units were sold based on how many consoles there were because that’s not their main goal. If you had a video game company, do you think it would make any difference to sell one unit out of a million potential buyers on one console versus one unit out of two or three potential buyers?
            The correct answer is “no.”
Because you only sold one either way.

          • jrob23

there’s lots of different ways to interpret that. I say that Rayman Legends is a perfect 3rd party game for the Wii U. It utilizes the gamepad smartly, is an excellent co op experience, and is more family friendly. Games like that are super important to Nintendo consoles because there is a bit of overkill with Nintendo franchises. This was also supposed to come end of Feb last year. It was around that time the Wii U really needed a positive but instead it became a massive negative. Soon the stories of no 3rd party support was widespread on gaming websites. Losing Watchdogs is nowhere near as bad because we expect it now..we have Ubi to thank for that apathy.
Back to topic at hand and where I am going with this. Since a greater percentage of people who own a Wii U purchased Rayman Legends than on the other consoles you’d think that with a larger install base that Rayman Legends would sell even better. Well, if it had come out in Feb I believe it would have pushed some consoles and maybe changed a mind or two in the dev community. It might have only sold 500-750K at that time but that’s about what it sold on ALL consoles to date. Ubi is too thick to get that they could have been THE game being talked about and that the Wii U would have received a lot of attention which would have resulted in better sales for the console, in turn a larger install base, and happy gamers wanting to buy Ubi games. It’s really retarded to be honest.
So now a game that wouldn’t have sold anyways is delayed and we all know it’s either going to be gimped if it comes at all. Wii U owners are pretty much done with Ubi. They might as well not come out with it.
Basically attach rate means the number of games bought per console sold. Or in my example..the number of a certain game sold per console. It’s important because it paints a picture of the health of the console. The Wii U actually has a solid attach rate, meaning owners are going out and buying games at a high rate. Which should give developers hope that with more consoles sold their games will be bought. Rayman Legends sold pretty good so far on the Wii U when you consider how few consoles have sold. It might have sold fewer total than PS3 but really the PS3 numbers are awful considering how low the numbers are compared to number of consoles out.
I guess my point is that the whole Rayman fiasco backfired on the Wii U and really hurt Nintendo. They would have come close to selling as many if it just stayed exclusive, because as shown by sales, barely anyone is buying the other versions compared to the Wii U.

          • Sydney Ultrasyd

            So true

        • Donaald

You’re seriously using vgchartz as a source?

          • John Andalora

You have anything better to easily show at least some form of sales?

          • Donaald

            Have you tried NPD?

          • John Andalora

Every time I search NPD, it just takes me to other articles citing NPD or NPD’s “this is what we do” thing.

        • Gardevoir Eliz

Man…you just got Bitch slaped by this one guy.lol

Anyway…NEWSFLASH Ubisoft!!!!!!!! Ding Ding Ding! Delaying a game does not help it to have good sales. Freaking genius.

    • val berger

It’s really not like Ubi gave it a try on the WiiU. I’m not the biggest fan of Ubi’s policy, but in terms of sales numbers, we should all have got a perfect impression of how bad things can work out in the WiiU. I’d be interested of the numbers of AC4 but I don’t think they were great at all, otherwise Ubi would put more effort into selling Watchdogs on that system.

      • Yen

Here’s how I think Ubi should’ve done that would’ve strengthened Wii U’s launch. Instead of Zombii U, focus on getting Rayman Legends out as a launch title. Fact is, Nintendo has a bigger audience in terms of age group, Rayman Legend would’ve appealed to more people than Zombii U. That would’ve helped Wii U launch sales by getting more kids along with Rayman fans to want Wii Us. Zombii U could’ve came out later as a “hardcore” game to appeal to “gamers” later. This way there’ll be an install base for the Wii U set up. Also, I don’t mind too much that they made Rayman Legend multiplatform, what I don’t agree with was delaying an already delayed game for it, even though the Wii U version was finished if I remember right. They should’ve released it when it was done, during the period when Wii U had little games. That would’ve sold really well. If that was the case, and it still didn’t sell, I’d say they gave it a fair shot. The way they actually did it, I feel like they could have done a lot better.

My question now for Watchdogs is, if Rayman Legend for Wii U was delayed so they can release it with the other versions at the same time, why won’t they do it for Watchdogs? That was mostly rhetorical, I know sales is probably the biggest reason, but as a Wii U owner, I feel like that’s a slap to the face after what they did for Rayman Legends.

        • val berger

At the WiiU’s launch, nobody could see how bad things would work out, so sure, what you’re saying is true but I guess we are always wiser afterwards.
And Ubi seems to have quite problems to get Watchdogs ready, that’s why they actually delayed it. So after they aren’t really expecting the WiiU version to generate huge profits, they save their ressources. I’m actually cool with that as I am playing Arkham City right now for the first time, so I obviously ain’t havin any problems with delayed playing ;D

And actually, who told us Watchdogs would be a good game? I haven’t preordered it because I don’t have that much trust in Ubisoft. I didn’t like AC1 and AC3, so for me it really isn’t like everything they touch would turn to gold. Waiting for some reviews anyway.

          • Yen

True, I only got interested because it looked interesting and I decided to give it a shot while supporting the Wii U and developers. If they do more than just delay the game like removing content and such I’d probably just pass it up.

          • val berger

yeah sure it looks quite great, but ubisoft is amazing in letting monotone gameplay mechanics look like the greatest game of all time. So I need to see it in action. But sure, some very great games like Farcry 3 do also come from them and I guess Watchdogs carries so damn much weight, they can’t afford to f*ck this up. So I am actually very positive and would really order it but then again, I’m not in any hurry, so wait and see what’s around the corner :)

Actually I really could live with more 3rd parties creating ports for the WiiU of 1yr old games. porting for instance the XB360 version of Tomb Raider wouldn’t hurt that much, I’d buy it for something around 40Euro. for people who always wanna play major releases before everyone else does this would suck, but those people shouldn’t play anything except Nintendogames on the WiiU. I don’t care anymore when I play a good game, as long as I don’t miss it. And haven’t played games like The Last of Us yet feels actually great as I know that I got something to look forward playing :)

        • Dimitri Theodosakis

I Agree Rayman: Legends should be Day 1 Release along with Wii U, Zombie U Should be Released Halloween 2013 not November 2012

      • John Andalora

ACIV sales are what you’d expect.

        http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Assassin%27s+Creed+IV

        PS3: 2.55 million
        Xbox 360: 2.26 million
        PS4: 1.28 million
        Xbone: 0.64 million
        PC: 0.37 million
        Wii U: 0.13 million.

And that’s not even a game they cut down. The only thing they won’t be giving to Wii U is DLC, but is that really something Wii U owners wanted anyways?

        It’s a real shame.

        • ScrewAttack

I like DLC, so since it’s not coming I’m skipping ACIV. Just like I did Origins. I still want Watchdogs for my Wii U, but it feels like Ubi don’t really give a shit if they have my purchase or not.

          • John Andalora

            Pity.
Only gives Ubisoft more justification to say “We need to save resources for other affairs.”

To be honest though, I’m rather glad that I got a PS4 and sold my Wii U. Got tired of the whole issues with getting games a long time ago.

          • ScrewAttack

They’ll do what they want and I’ll do the same. They’re the ones that should be selling me their product, not me begging to buy it. I’m certainly not going to pay good money for an incomplete experience.

You made a bad move selling your Wii U. I’m not saying it should be your only console- I’m picking up a PS4 when Destiny hits (and hopefully BF4 works by then too) in September- but there’ll be plenty of exclusive stuff that’ll make it worth owning.

NB: To be fair Origins just sounds like a big clusterfuck anyway; no DLC AND they admitted they can’t be arsed to fix their mistakes with the game because it won’t get them extra money. WB can do one with that shit, nobody should support such a lazy developer.

          • John Andalora

Nah man. I’m tired of Nintendo rehashing stuff.
I’ve been playing Mario Kart and Smash Bros for so long, if I wanted Hyrule Warriors I’d just get Dynasty Warriors and mod it, I don’t like DK, Hardly know or care about X, and Bayonetta 2 doesn’t interest me.

Also no interest for Sonic Boom.
That’s not to say that I hate Nintendo or just don’t like fun, but I enjoy what Nintendo used to be with things like the original Paper Mario, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Mario 64. Not as big a fan when they try to do the same thing 15 years later.

          • ScrewAttack

Fair enough. But rehashing? Seriously? Enjoy Madden 25…..

          • John Andalora

            Thank you. I will.

          • Jon

sorry, but this comment made me laugh when you said you don’t like Nintendo Re-hashing stuff when in a previous comment you said you were enjoying Madden 25 and Need For Speed… and even Killzone, a generic first person shooter (yes, I’ve played it)

          • John Andalora

Well, in all honesty this is my first Madden game. Same with Need for Speed. And Killzone.

I suppose it’s more that I’ve just been playing Nintendo for a long time instead of Sony or Microsoft.

          • Donaald

You talk about rehashes but all of the games you mentioned for your god, the ps4, are rehashes.

          • John Andalora

            Not to me.
This is my first Madden, my first Killzone, and my first Need for Speed.
But my God, the PS4, has a lot of new content the Wii U doesn’t, and will have more new stuff on the way.

Enjoy your 8th Mario Kart game…

          • Donaald

“Not to you” LMAO, that’s the worst attempt to damage control I’ve seen in this site. And yes, I will enjoy my second Mario Kart.

          • John Andalora

You want I should talk about Knack, Contrast, Don’t Starve, Res0gun, Thief, Blacklight, or Outlast instead?

          • Donaald

Yes, please tell me about knack.

          • John Andalora

Well, Knack is a game for the PS4 where you control a small relic composed of the materials that people use to power everything from planes to robots to basic electronics. The main premise of the game is to fight your way through a mixture of Goblins, evil robots, and the ultimate relics that aim to destroy the planet.

And I thought it was fun.

I’ll admit that the story is silly and the game is centered around fighting, but it was a game that was genuinely challenging with beautiful design, precise combat, and an overall enjoyable mechanic of growing bigger and bigger. I found the boss fight at the end to be extremely exciting, and really did a good job of working with everything you’ve learned.
It wasn’t like NSMBU where I buzzed through it and felt no sense of accomplishment. It took good aspects from other games and built something fun.

I think where people see issue is in calling it a platformer, which it is not. I’d say it’s more of a beat-em-up thing, like if Castlevania was in 3D.

Did you play it? What did you think of it?

          • Donaald

I played the game at a booth for like half an hour, the visuals were pretty cool and the Framerate very smooth with what seemed 60 frames per second, outside of that is just a poor man’s action/adventure game with no challenge whatsoever, all level are extremely easy (oh, look I have to be little again to avoid the lasers herp-derp!), you rarely find more than two enemies at once and when you do it doesn’t matter because they do barely any damage and are easy to beat anyway, there is the finding treasures thing and that’s the only challenge you get, this game is as shitty as Toy Story 3 on the Wii.

I don’t know why you compare it with NSMBU, that’s almost as retarded as comparing the original Contra with Candy Crush.

          • John Andalora

I could tell you the truth and say that the demo doesn’t do the game justice, but I doubt that that would change any of our positions.

I suppose that this is a reason why I enjoyed Knack.

Although I certainly don’t remember them doing “barely any damage.” There’s one point where you’re stealth Knack, and one hit will kill you, while other creatures can easily take you out in 2-3 hits. Maybe me playing it on hard did the trick, but then again

I compared it to NSMBU because I feel that NSMBU is somewhat similar to Knack in terms of how it’s set up: Simple to understand controls with an intensifying difficulty that bases its gameplay on some unique or different mechanics and level design.

However, the difference is that NSMBU tried to do a lot with its game. Knack (while having a few bumps in the road) kept its main focus fairly simple and allowed for some upward curve in difficulty. NSMBU, on the other hand, had a hundred different things in a hundred different levels, leaving the game trying to teach you so much without actually getting harder or using any of it later on.

But, I suppose that neither side is going to waiver, so I suggest that (after making myself look like a fool long enough), we agree to disagree and move on.

          • John Andalora

Of a game from the 90′s that I never could play.
Besides, Nintendo remade Wind Waker, but I don’t see anyone here complaining.

          • matthew garcia

There will definately be more variety of games soon on ps4. It just came out but there are over 100 games alone coming out for it this year alone

          • Donaald

Sure, but that wasn’t the point if my comment.

          • LordiMcKill

There already trying to boycott the DLC.

          • ConCity Soldier

Yet, PS4 barely has any games to date. I’m good with my Wii U PS3 and PC.

          • John Andalora

Really? I’ve been completely happy with Outlast, Don’t Starve, Madden 25, Killzone, Knack, Flower, BlackLight, Contrast, Res0gun and Need For Speed, and considering that I got a pre-order for Thief with inFamous Second Son and Watch Dogs on the way, I feel I’m in pretty good shape here.

          • nigeriangamer

killzone( generic shooter,it tries sooo hard to be COD or/and halo and copies alot from farcry3),don’t starve(can get that on PC) madden 25(its a sport game, ever one has it) knack( a poor man’s platformer) Flower(Thank God,an exclusive worth talking abt) Contrast(please it everwhere, lets talk abt exclusives) Res0gun(2 points for having another exclusive that is different and fun) Need for speed(………….. uh what?) when it comes to the games on ps4, there really isnt anything it can call its own,its either copying or other platforms have it already.but at much that nintendo keep rehashing their games they never come out the same…please compare mkDD to MKDS to MK7 to MK8(mariokart) as much as they are racing games with the same characters they dont play the same different mechanic comes to play that gives the player a fresh experience and how many times does nintendo do a re-release and when they do,its something the fans wants they dont force it in your face.but that’s what you want…enjoy

          • Marcus Larsson

I was kinda disappointed in sm3dw for lacking continous storytelling if i may say.
Great levels but i just missed what galaxy and Mario 64 had.
It felt more like a nes game story wise.
But of course the levels was awesome but i want more from Mario then just action give me a real backstory.

        • Jon

This… is what I find odd. People keep saying that Wii U owners do not want DLC but no one puts the DLC on so how the hell would they know? NSLU did quite well and yet people still say we don’t want the DLC when yes, we damn well do want the DLC. Most people who own a Wii U own a PS3 or Xbox 360 and if those have the DLC and where the quality of play is pretty much the same, why would you go for the Wii U version when the others give you more? You just won’t because you get more for your buck for the other platforms.

          • John Andalora

“Most people who own a Wii U own a PS3 or Xbox 360″

Wait, if most people who own a Wii U own a PS3 or Xbox 360, if they really cared about the DLC wouldn’t they just buy it on the other console?

As for the whole NSLU thing, I remember making a big stink about NSLU and having every single person on the internet yell at me that “IT’S NOT DLC!” and how it’s completely different and things like that.

So that’s why I figured it wasn’t DLC.

          • ScrewAttack

I have a preference of buying games for Wii U over other consoles (including PS4), but I do want full access to the game and its DLCs. Sometimes I’ll just buy the game for the other consoles, but sometimes- when it feels like they’re just being dicks about it and/or it’s a game I can live without playing, I just don’t buy it at all.

I know I’m not everyone, but that’s me.

          • ScrewAttack

It’s why I have Ghosts on 360 when I wanted it on Wii U. Season pass (though I might sell the whole set now, getting tired of the gameplay and GTA’s just so much more fun.

        • val berger

Thanks for those figures! I am also surprised how bad the PC version actually sold. I mean not REALLY surprised, but didn’t think the PC market would sell that bad.

I think at the point of its launch, no one knew if DLC would be coming and as it’s been there for AC3, people might have assumed it would get DLC support so that surely isn’t the reason. The WiiU just isn’t appealing to the AC4 target audience. With the Wii, Nintendo totally understood that they kinda lost the market of mature mainstream blockbusters to Sony & Microsoft and due to their tremendous success, they thought ‘hey, we should like totally go and grab it back’. Didn’t work out it seems. They should really aim for a Wii-like model to have a WiiU next to a PS4 or XBone. They initially tried to make the WiiU the only system and people didn’t seem to like that.

I personally hate it as I really love playing stuff like Mass Effect 3 or Arkham City on the WiiU. Too bad I’m just one of a few :(

You do realise that they did this because of the low sales on Wii U, right? I’m surprised they even said “delayed” and not “cancelled”. Hell, I’m surprised that are still third parties working on titles for WiiU

      • Yen

Yes I realize that, I acknowledged it in one of the comments to this post. Here’s what I believe though, Wii U would’ve had way higher sales had Ubisoft not screwed Nintendo over. Chances are, Watchdogs will sell least on Wii U, but if they delay it, then people who would’ve bought it on the Wii U will buy it for other systems instead. Meaning Wii U version’s sales would be even lower. Then they’d come out to say that Wii U version had lower sales and blame Nintendo for it. (Skip the next paragraph if you don’t want another rant on Rayman Legends.)

That basically happened with Rayman Legends. I’m not going to cite sources because I don’t feel like looking for them, but I believe it was said sales almost hit 1M for all versions combined with around 30% being Wii U. Now imagine if Rayman stayed exclusive on Wii U. Chances are, the majority of that 1M would’ve bought a Wii U for it, bringing install base up. If they didn’t delay the game twice, the game would’ve been released during the Wii U drought before many of Nintendo’s first party games came out, chances even more people would give the game a try. Ubisoft decided to back off from the Wii U and then blamed Nintendo for low sales when it’s partly their fault for delaying the game so much and releasing it at a bad time.

        • Potemkin

I agree that what they did with Rayman was plainly stupid. I don’t understand if they were trying to build more hype for the game or maybe hope to sell more units with a simultaneous release, but either way (or even another reason I can’t think of) it was just dumb.

Now, as for the others….I believe only SEGA can still develope Sonic games for WiiU and get a profit out of it.

          • Yen

I believe the Wii U can turn things around. I just wish that 3rd party developers did too. I understand backing off because Wii U seems to be doing bad, I just feel like 3rd parties are to blame as well. Consoles don’t sell if it doesn’t have good software. Not having software falls on both Nintendo and 3rd Party devs.

          • Potemkin

Yes, that is what I want to get across all this time. But sadly Nintendo did very bad with the naming and advertise of the console.

I remember how promising the WiiU looked when it was announced (and mistakenly confused for just an addon to the Wii).

    • matthew garcia

Wii u is like the kid on the playground everyone likes to pick on

  • Black leg sanji

Watch these idiots release it in may!! Then they will get mad when it wont sell on the wiiU well dummies what you expect you released it the same month as mario kart -_-

    • D.M.T

that’s probably the reason why they are delaying this game on Wii U because they don’t want it to be released in the same month as Mario Kart.

      • Black leg sanji

I hope so becuz i kno for a fact as a nintendo gamer and im sure this goes for most of us id pick mario kart over watch dogs but at the same time i still want watch dogs
Ps. Y did i get downvotes??

        • D.M.T

I don’t know why you got downvoted. Maybe they didn’t like your comment.

      • matthew garcia

I dont think anybody is afraid to compete with mario at this point

  • Simon Stevens

I’ll have to find other means of being a gangsta now, FU Ubisoft, other than Child of light, no more business from me

  • Magnus Eriksson

Ill buy it for my PS3. I want to support UbiSoft as a third party developer for Sony. They was great bringing Rayman Legends for Playstation, so they deserve support. Also I want them to stop supporting Wii U so Nintendo will be forced to go third party as soon as possible.

    • NkoSekirei

thats stupid dude to have them stop supporting the wii u thats bs and i rather buy it on my wii u which will be the better version especially the game takes advantage with the gamepad and yes im tired of the delays too but i will still get it regardless.

      • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

he’s just trolling, take a break, and have fun.

        • D.M.T

Why are you telling people to have fun with Magnus’ awful trolling? He’s not funny and he says the same things over and over again. Instead of having fun with his trolling, we should just ignore him because he’s an attention whore.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

he will be coming and coming here to talk “this” and we can’t continue his game. just relax.

          • Magnus Eriksson

and you are a cry baby fanboy without the ability to critical reflection. I feel sorry for you :(

          • jjbredesen

He has a point though. He just tries to get his point across in a more intense way. Nintendo are making a lot of mistakes and are screwing up with Wii U, i think MK 8 and Smash can turn it around, but it is still stupid that a conpany makes there fate depend on 2 games, just think about the pressure on the dev teams!

All he is saying is that Nintendo can do better than this, yes they are a great company, but some of there stuff, is completly stupid, yes Nintendo will never leave the Video game buissnes as long as we play games, but they should reconsider how they do stuff, i have respect for them, but not there tradional respect shit, Iwata is to stuck in the past, and thinks that yamauchi hiroshi is some sort of god or something.

They need to change, if they want to return to where they once where, if they want to go in to elder care thats more of an escape to save the company, Nintendo has changed buissness a lot, there is no rule that says they will only be a video game company.

Nintendo makes great games, not great disscions.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep, considering they were originally a playing card company. Making Hanafuda cards to be precise. So they’re not limited to what they can do, it’s who is leading them that limits their potential.

          • jjbredesen

Yup, could not have said it better myself, not sure if Iwata is able to save Wii U, but i will wait to the end of this year to judge them, if MK8 and Smash don’t make an impact, they must change there way of doing things.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What is funny is subjective and you don’t speak for the whole community. If you want to ignore him, then don’t respond on it, otherwise, you’re just seeking attention yourself for even bringing it up. Mercurio has a good point, might as well have fun and laugh at it. Complaining just makes it worse. ;P

    • Stephen Davis

Somehow I doubt you have a WIIU. If you did you wouldn’t be SO intent on wanting them to fail. and if you did you would buy it on WIIU cause you would realize how awesome this game would be to play on the gamepad. This is a WIIU site. I think you are lost

      • 00EpicGamer00

        He’s being sarcastic.

      • matthew garcia

I spent 350 on my wii and not afraid to show my displeasure towards my investment. Expected a little bit more from nintendo. I also have some displeasure in my investment to my ps4 also

        • Petri

Well then, did you learn anything about buying a console at launch?

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t, they couldn’t go on without early adopters, but you shouldn’t have too high expectations for the first year.
Though Nintendo is not making any hurry in showing what they have for this year…

          • matthew garcia

Yeah I guess I just like being first in line lol. With nintendo I just dont like the months that there no games to play. So I alternate between wii u and ps4 to keep myself entertained

          • Petri

Only reason I’m not getting PS4 (yet), is because I have PC that can offer 300% more than PS4 currently can.
And only reason I got Wii U, is because Nintendo was kind enough to fund Bayonetta 2.

          • matthew garcia

I got ps4 early cuz infamous 2nd son will be out in march and yes bayonetta 2 looks great also. I have never got into pc gaming cuz it seems u have to be a tech guy to do it. I dont like messing with settings to figure out what works well with the hardware u have. I have no patience I just wanna put the game in and play

      • Skelterz

He has six Wii u’s i go to his house all the time actually hang on he’s got 7 so shhhh braa shhhh braaa

          • Magnus Eriksson

Vel, jeg snakker i det minste norsk :)

      • Magnus Eriksson

Yes I own one. And yes I want them to fail. Im tired of Nintendo BS now. If they went third party it would ONLY mean benefits for us consumers.

    • jjbredesen

I will buy the PS Vita version! as it is far supperior to the Wii U version, because of its intense graphics and micro transactions.

      • Skelterz

yeah i wanna get on that JJ man i do love me some M-Trans

        • jjbredesen

Yeah, its what makes Zynga the best dev ever XD

  • Petri

wtf happened to that “we want to release on all consoles at the same time”?

    • GregoryTheRainMaker

      That doesn’t exist anymore.

      • Stephen Davis

        Thanks MR. Obvious…

        • GregoryTheRainMaker

          You are welcome. ^

    • D.M.T

That only applies when it’s a Wii U game being ported to other platforms. That’s how bias Ubisoft is. They have zero respect for Nintendo and it’s fans and yet people defend Ubisoft lol.

      • Skelterz

        there wolfs in sheep clothing.

      • val berger

Stop your whining. Ubisoft is just a third party. One of those 3rd parties, still supporting Nintendo and one of the biggest in the world, so maybe you are the one who don’t has any respect for anyone but Nintendo. Ubisoft of course checked their sales numbers and by now, WiiU ports are more like an expensive hobby to them so be glad they are still doing them. And no, I’m not a Ubisoft fan, I just hate it when people are looking for anyone to blame. Iwata himself surely knows that’s in his hands to change things, not Ubisoft, not EA not anyone of those bad, bad companies out there who might be great fall guys for people like you.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Perfect response to whiners. Well said.

      • DragonSilths

That’s cause Microsoft has a clause with 3rd party devs, they MUST get the game 1st or at very least the same day as everyone else.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Go play HTML5 games on Wii U instead of whining here your ungrateful prick.

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

I’m going to get the game for the Wii U, besides I expected to be disappointed with delays…it’s very predictable.

  • Frankie

Here is another perfect example of why Ubisoft sucks, yet people on here constantly defend them. They are becoming as bad as EA. The Wii U version will sell worse because it is delayed, and then Ubisoft will blame poor sales on Nintendo fans and continue to give the Wii U less attention.

    • Skelterz

Yeah ubisoft can suck it im gunna play mk8 all year anyway fuck ubisoft and there gta clone!

  • YogiGRB

Voted yes, BUT …. gettin sick and tired of WiiU versions getting delayed because ” to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft”.
I am/ have been a costumer for decades mostly on nintendo’s platform with games like :beyond good and evil, rainbow six etc. This does not benefit me as a costumer, just like the Rayman debacle didn’t. Cause people want to buy it on the WiiU but will get it on other systems due to the constant delays and afterwards we will be hearing story’s that it doesn’t sell well enough on the WiiU.

Dear Ubisoft …. be warned and DO NOT become the next EA.
WE the GAMERS do not tolerate being pesterd. Notice how EA is already on a down spiral (but not yet willing to realise it)
Knowing you devs listen to the money, we will talk with our wallets.

    • NkoSekirei

i do agree that delays suck but im gonna wait see how this turns out before passing judgement.

      • YogiGRB

I understand what you mean, but i’m passing judgement on the fact that they (most devs) are pulling resources from WiiU development, leaving us with no DLC support, patchwork wich is crappy and then complain WiiU has low sales numbers when we don’t buy their halfway, half-finished games

      • Skelterz

it will most likely be a good game but i can bet you anything the will be less and less in the wii u version and DLC all over ps4 and xbox ones version.

    • Sydney Ultrasyd

And we will simply have no game next time.

  • FIreproof_actual

    X-(

  • D.M.T

Ubisoft makes me sick to my stomach and yet some of you still consider them to be Wii U’s biggest supporter. Biggest supporter my ass.

Remember how they delayed the Wii U version of Rayman Legends just because they wanted the game to be released at the same day as the other versions? Then why aren’t they delaying the Xbox One, PS4 etc. versions so they can be released the same day as the Wii U version? I’m sick of 3rd party devs bias.

Fuck you Ubisoft. I will delay my purchase of Watch Dogs as well mothafucker. I’ll buy Watch Dogs when it’s cheap on Wii U. I ain’t giving you my money on launch day cause you don’t deserve it.

    • matthew garcia

Its business they already know the wii u version will have the lowest sales of all consoles and it wont even be by a little. Ubisoft is not gonna make much money off the wii u version. Sad but true

      • D.M.T

If the Wii U version will make the least money than why the delay? Time is money and the more they delay the Wii U version the more money they have to spend on it. This is not a smart business decision.

        • matthew garcia

Your right but im sure developing f or 5 consoles is not easy.

      • LJay

It would also help if i could find any wiiu games to buy in shops, only specialist game shops stock them and the choice is poor,i always have to order in through my independant store!

    • Stephen Davis

And who was there with a console release game when the WIIU launched?Ubisoft has been nothing BUT supportive sir. More time they spend on it the better. Little delay never hurt anyone ya know

      • jjbredesen

        It does hurt the sales….

        • Stephen Davis

No doubt. But regardless I was merely saying they have been there from beginning supporting WIIU despite the slow timeframe on Nintendos releases. May have been delays but they sure are no EA. So they got my respect for that.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah, i agree with that 100% they are a great company and make some of the best games in the industry, but i get angry when i see this kind of stuff…

      • D.M.T

Oh yeah they are really supportive (sarcasm). They released 2 low budget games at Wii U’s launch (ZombiU and Rabbids Land). ZombiU sold really well but yet Ubisoft acts like the game wasn’t profitable. Yeah really supportive uhuh keep telling yourself that sir.

Little delay never hurt anyone? Delays hurt sales and this is the 2nd time that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is delayed. Stop lying to yourself or stop being blind. Ubisoft is known for making retarded decisions.

        • Skelterz

if i remember rightly there was a console bundle of zombi u also so they clearly had made decent money from that game there just EA in disguise people seem to forget the console bundle

          • Marcus Larsson

It only sold 630 000, thats not even close what watch dogs Will sell on any of the other consoles.
Its an ok Number still but watch dogs Will probably sell 10-15 million on ps3/x360 and probably like 5-8 million on ps4/xbone.
If theyre lucky 1 million on wii u.
            The sad truth.
By 22 feb the ps4 Will have passed the wii u in sales numbers and thats what third party’s care about.

          • Skelterz

to shay my friend to shay

          • HungryMetroid

            *Touché

          • Skelterz

thanks man not only do i look stupid, i havent got enough balls to edit my comment i feel like tingle or something.

          • ScrewAttack

To be fair I can never remember the alt code for accented e (or any other accented character for that matter).

          • Skelterz

            lol

          • HungryMetroid

don’t feel bad I had to google how to spell it correctly

          • Skelterz

The feeling of tingle is washed away hahaha

          • jrob23

dude, you are dreaming. It won’t sell 5 million combined on all platforms. You are forgetting that there are lots of other games it will need to compete with and people are pissed so they will wait.

      • Skelterz

But its not little is it it was meant to come out last year and they delayed rayman plus there making some sort of dogshit party game why not finish 1 project before starting a new one is what i say you can’t even defend them its fact what im saying bro!

      • DragonSilths

        Blinded by Ubisofts fake smile.

    • Skelterz

Im gunna get it second hand then upload gameplay and do a lets play and make money off it when im done with it im gunna sell it to a friend fuck ubisoft!

    • Brandon

Why would they delay the xbox one and ps4 versions, thats the best platform for the game.

    • DragonSilths

People are fooled by Ubisofts fake smile. They lie through their smile.

    • John Andalora

Sad fact is that Ubisoft is still the Wii U’s biggest supporter.
EA? Bethesda? Square Enix? 2k? Activision?
You see any of them throwing nearly as many games towards it as Ubisoft?

“Biggest supporter” doesn’t mean that they directly work for the Wii U. It means that they’re one of the few people actually spending money on making games for it, and giving a crap rather than just ignoring it like everyone else.

Yeah, Ubisoft’s games might be cut down or hurt, but Ubisoft has genuinely tried. You pick up Assassin’s Creed 4? Just dance 2014? Even Rayman Legends? Ubisoft may do some dumb things with the games, but if they didn’t try at all the Wii U’s only outside support would be indies and Sega.

I’m not trying to defend Ubisoft, but there’s only about 8 AAA games that might come out this year for the Wii U (at best): DKCR, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., X, Bayonetta, Sonic Boom, Hyrule Warriors, and Watch Dogs.

      • ScrewAttack

That we know of- don’t forget Nintendo doesn’t like telling us much of anything far ahead of time. Still waiting on that Nintendo Direct so we can finally find out what’s coming this year.

As much as I enjoyed Fallout 3 & NV, I’m not surprised Bethesda titles aren’t on Nintendo consoles. Their stuff is buggy and broken as shit. EA’s going the same way and doing it with a smile……Activision pretty much just make CoD don’t they? Don’t think I’ve really checked whether they make anything else. Square Enix…meh (not a FF fan personally)….and 2k I thought were defunct.

I’m finding that third party titles of the last few months are lacking across the board, though.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

What made you think they were defunct?

          • ScrewAttack

Dunno, swear there was a story about them going broke and all their stuff being auctioned off. Crossed wires? Might have been another studio. It’s the problem with studios that don’t make things that interest me, they all blur into one generic entity.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Only recent one I heard about, was THQ.

          • ScrewAttack

That’ll be it then. Another company where I have no fooking clue what they….made.

          • 00EpicGamer00

THQ is primarily known for making games based off of movies and TV shows. I should know, since I own a few….and when I say “a few” I mean just three.

        • John Andalora

Yeah, but how many games do you honestly expect Nintendo to make by themselves when they’re losing money AND also planning out health stuff?

          • ScrewAttack

Plenty- it’s not like they’re poor, and losing money’s a pretty good kick in the backside wouldn’t you say? Everyone knew from probably June last year that 2013 was going to be a shit year, that everyone seems to be suddenly turning around and acting shocked is just bizarre. It was going to be a bad year, and I can appreciate growing pains in a company just transitioning to HD (people again forget the first few years of 360 and PS3, or maybe it’s just more double standards)….and I have the patience to wait for games I know will be worth it.
They’ll expand, they’ll reorganise, they’ll adapt. The sky isn’t falling, it’s just a time of change.

          • matthew garcia

Sometimes when you lose the market u never get it back. Nintendo needs to be careful. Ps4 so far is the success story when it comes to sales

    • Magnus Eriksson

Thats the spirit. Blame Ubi for Wii U failing. Its always someone elses fault isnt it. If Nintendo had listen to fans like me instead of fanboys like you they would never been in the situation they are in now.

  • matthew garcia

Doesnt explain why though the other console releases are on time and wii u isnt. What makes the wii u version have this treatment. My guess is that graphically it falls between last gen and current gen and that puts wii u in a akward spot when developing for it. Its kinda on its own. U can develop 360 and ps3 the same and ps4 and xbox1 the same but not wii u. unless they say screw it and get lazy and just make the wii u version look like last gen

  • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

few month later and same bugs that the old one. :P

  • Skelterz

Well i wanted it to begin with but if it clashes with a better game around the same time they can fuck off why should we buy it late just because they sorry for the delay they should ave released it when they said they were releasing it. Ubisoft are the wolf in sheeps clothing nobody in this industry has nintendo’s back except the indie devs at the moment and to be honest i don’t care cause they will come come crying back the install base is going to rocket in sales once MK8 hits and there will be nothing on PS4 or Xbox then they’ll come running.

  • Jon Neale

Is the delay to remove the online features that they are not adding?

    • Skelterz

No its to remove everything the Wii u just gets the start up menu and options for this release.

  • Mr Ninty

    nintendo should riot

  • Kenshin0011

This is just a sad turn of events. Though some of you are so ready to curse Ubisoft without fully understanding their side of the story. They only have so much funds and times are tough, manpower is small. It’s obvious from the quote that they allocated their resources to the other consoles and put Wii U last in line.

Now is this okay? Of course not. But was it preventable? Unfortunately, I do not think so…

    • Gardevoir Eliz

if the sales are poor then they can’t blame the system itself. THEY are
choosing to release it late giving gamers five other options to pick it
up until they release the Wii U version. That will be entirely on
      Ubisoft if that happens.

      • Kenshin0011

        What you say is true

  • Elias Ruelas

I don’t think developers are going to continue putting their multi plats on the Wii U in the future. If they do, they will do it very selectively. However, I do feel that developers will be making Wii U exclusives more common, but only at a trickle.

  • Rich Garriques

listen ; i dont care how long game devs take with a game AS LONG AS IT IS DONE WELL , I LIKE GREAT GAMES NOT RUSHED GAMES.

  • MujuraNoKamen

Not a good sign but they still have my attention. I’m annoyed by yet another delay but given how badly Wii U games and consoles sell it’s only logical that this version should be delayed. As long as it’s a slight delay and they don’t cut features I’ll get it.

  • Black leg sanji

We have a “hacker” problem, they keep sending downvote bots on random comments, WUD is working on it, but it is very limited what they can do, because of there proxies…

      • Black leg sanji

        Ahhh ok thank you

  • steveb944

I used to defend Ubi as the best third party on the Wii U, but even tho they’re still the best one they’re doing an awful job. Delayed games, no DLC, it’s just not looking good. I may just start investing my money all into first party software and nothing else. It’s sad.

  • Skelterz

I heard they were dropping the wii u version in favor of a game of a similer name called Watchclock in which your a humble jewish librarian just watching clocks until evil nazi germany kidnap you and put you in concentration, Then it is all up to you alone to just simply watchclocks at the camp and await death.

  • Petri

I will most probably still get this game for Wii U.
But this feels like a giant disrespectful double middle finger “fuck you” for someone, who has supported Ubisoft, especially after their statement about the Rayman delay.

Seeing as DLC support has gone out the window, and doesn’t seem like Ubisoft will be bringing their new games (new IP’s) except for those yearly Assassins Creed games, I might think twice, if I’m picking those up.

  • thedeciderU

one way or another, all my excitement for this game has pretty much died, and i don’t know if i’ll buy on wiiu or eventually buy on ps4 if/when i get it. let’s see how it reviews. it’s no longer a no-brainer day one buy.

  • Ace J

this is bullshit. so you mean to tell me that it’s going to be released AFTER the other console versions are going to be released? yet wii u owners had to wait for the rayman legends release. this makes perfect sense ubi.

  • tyto_alba

This game was delayed because ps4 and xbox1 servers are were not up to it. Now it´s being delayed so they can fix all the bugs on the other versions. all i want to say is they don´t realy care about us.

  • Jared Garcia

Hey, it’s one one on one time on just Wii U after they’re done with the others. It’ll do the little console that could some benefits.

  • Kyle

There goes my day one purchase.

  • Shagrath1983

and im done with this overly hyped and overly delayed game. You just cant flash this in our faces for months claiming it to be the greatest, then delay it for a whole year and then delay it for us Wii U fans for “when ever” im done with you UBI

  • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

I say make everyone else wait till Wii U version is done! We had to suffer with the Rayman delay, now it’s THEIR TURN–(thunder clash)MWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

  • Pucker

Nintendo make a console that people relly want and developers wil jump all over it to make games for it.

  • shadus

The longer this game takes to come out the less excited I become. Back in October I was primed ready to go for a first day digital copy. Now I’m excited about South park stick of truth, Bayonetta 2 and X coming out. All of these open world games are starting feel the same and after GTA, Saints Row , Far Cry , assassin’s creed etc the genre is just losing excitement. I will wait for the wii u if I get it at all,

    • oontz

The stick of truth is going to be so good!

  • darkcreap

    After buying:

    ZombiU (pack)
Assassin’s Creed III (Plus one small DLC and the first part of King Washington’s DLC)
    Rayman Legends
Cloudberry Kingdom (ported to WiiU by Ubisoft)
    Assassin’s Creed IV
    Preordering Watch dogs.

This feels like a kick in the balls. Thanks for delaying a game everyone wants for launch day. Surely a lot of people will be patient enough instead of getting it for PS4/X1. I don’t know how the WiiU is going to compete if it gets gimped ports and late releases.

I do not care, since the WiiU is my reference console, but a lot of people will not want to wait. Especially if the WiiU version will arrive much later.

  • Brandon

Not to shocked but its better late then never. The wii u’s 3rd party support is getting very slim and the wii u’s ram will become a problem later on for 3rd party devs.

  • Gardevoir Eliz

Well, this pretty much kills any chance of this version having decent
sales even if it’s a really great port with excellent additional
    features,

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

It really depends on my financial standing if I have a ps4 (if it ever becomes available again in stores) before the Wii U version is released I’ll get it on ps4, but if it hits the shelves on wiiu before I have a ps4, I’ll get it on WiiU probably.

  • 8ruc3

Next thing we’ll read in a few months (or weeks): “We’re very sorry to annonce that we decided to cancel the Wii U version of Watch Dogs because of the poor install base…” or some bullsh*t like this. I hope I’m wrong cause I really want that game on my Wii U…

  • Dáibhí wotshissurname

Ubi, and this happened with Rayman too, you are committing commercial suicide. I’m surprised as well, as you said the Wii U version was the first you got up and running!

  • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

I almost canceled my pre-order of this game for the Wii U but decided to hold off a little bit. This is still a slap in the face to Wii owners and if Ubisof has the audacity to come out and blame Nintendo and Nintendo fans for poor sales of this game on the Wii U I will add them to my boycott list along with EA

  • bizzy gie

I’m getting this for PS4 (that’s the plan anyway). Sorry. I love Wii U much more than the next guy (I’m on it right now), but I can’t wait for another delay on top of the already delayed game.

This is my number one most anticipated game and I can’t wait to play it.

Plus, I want the exclusive content and better visuals/audio.

There will also probably be no DLC support (if this game has it) which I’m 100% for as long as it’s an TLOU-esque approach.

The main problem is that I’ll probably play the online a lot and I’m tired of near empty lobbies. Plus, no real-world people I know own a Wii U so I’m only friends with strangers on here.

I’d try to add some of you guys (you’d think this place-the biggest Wii U site in the world-would be a NN ID hub), but I usually don’t get very many responses.

It’s just a matter of consumerism. I don’t want to pay the same price for less game.
I also don’t want to wait longer for an inferior version.

Nothing against Nintendo. It’s just the circumstance.

    • Jonathan George Anaya

I’m gonna get this for the X1. Ubisoft announced an extra hour of missions for the PS4; but, the X1 will have a more dynamic, cloud powered city. An example is breaking a glass window and having it stay that way forever in Azure. Or, NPCs that stay dead if you kill them instead of magically respawning after you reboot the game

      • bizzy gie

That’s BS. Whoever told you that was lying. Watch_Dogs will have no cloud-based features. No games will. Not for a very long time if ever.

Internet isn’t strong or consistent enough.

The X1 version won’t be any more dynamic.

We could see another resolution difference, but who knows.

Either way, the game will be awesome no matter what platform you play on.

        • Jonathan George Anaya

This is OLD news! Each platform has exclusive features. WiiU will utilize the gamepad in new and interesting ways. MS has the cloud for extra Data Processing. Sony has the Camera that no one bought so instead they get exclusive missions. Google it

          • bizzy gie

No multiplats will utilize the cloud for a long time.

PS4 also has the touchpad for exclusive features.
It also has Vita for remote play.

MS has that Kinect 2.0 nobody wants.

And I’d prefer in-game content over any other hardware benefit.

Sony is just securing a lot of exclusive content like MS has done. Only with Sony, it’s permanent and meaningful.

  • Shaise

GREAT! Sales will suck again. This is deliberate! I will get Wii U version because this game excites me and the only console I have is a Wii U.
I was anticipating it, but now the specific version I need is delayed?

  • Christopher Acuna

I have a feeling they are close to cancelling this game for the WiiU. Just a feeling….

    • nexxus6

I agree. Delaying one platform is the first step to cancellation. They are trying to let us down slowly, instead of just cancelling outright. It will be a couple of months before the official cancellation is announced because by then Ubisoft will expect that all WiiU owners have already moved on from Watchdogs. Looks like WiiU is getting the same treatment as they did by Gearbox, it is like Alien Colonial Marines all over again.

  • D Moness

Where is the pulling my paid pre-order option in the poll

  • Mwgly

    Of course.

  • Robert Wagner

When it comes to multiplatform games, all I want is the core game and some of what I like to call esential features, or practical features. With splinter cell, I think they should’ve had everything the other versions has, but with gamepad co-op splitscreen and off tv gameplay. I just want small features like that to ensure a good experiance without adding unecessary features or detracting the value of the game.

  • SGTMAR

I don’t think that anyone with a Wii U should be upset at all. It’s a business decision, people lie, numbers don’t. I’m sure the game was already canceled, but Ubisoft may have decided to stay with it and take advantage of the strong lineup the Wii U has coming later this year (in hopes of having doing good among the first party titles). New games, more consoles sold. I think they may have moved the Wii U team to help out the planned versions on other consoles and then later come and finish the Wii U version since it’s not very important right now. Making Money, that’s where it’s at. If Ubisoft can’t make any cash of the Wii U, why make it a priority?

    • DragonSilths

Wii U has a bigger install base then Xbox One and PS4, so numbers wise they would think a Wii U version would get bought more.

      • SGTMAR

The problem is (back to numbers) the Wii U is not making a dent on multi-plat third party games. Besides Rayman Legends what other third party games on the Wii U have topped other consoles in terms of sales? None.

Reading your other comments, you’re part of the issue of delays. You only care for certain Ubisoft games on your Wii U. The install base is nothing compared PS3, 360. It’s not like Ubisoft is taking it to the personal level. It’s about what makes money, and you’re not buying enough Wii U games.

        • DragonSilths

I’m not buying enough Wii U games??? I’m not going to buy every single fucking Wii U game. I don’t like Ubifail I don’t like dealing with them as both a customer and being involved with them personally. None of their games other then Redsteel have ever caught my eye. Watch Dogs was one. And if you think I should put up with BS and buy their 3rd party Wii U games to show that I, a single Canadian bought their games, makes any difference then your an idiot.
I am unlike all others, my way of business and philosophy is stand out, do what nobody else does, you sink or you swim, no risk no rewards. I would put a $60 million game on every system and treat them equally.

      • GregoryTheRainMaker

The game will be available on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. There is no way more copies of the Wii U would be sold.

        • DragonSilths

You mean CURRENT GEN COPIES. Xbox 360 and PS3 are LAST GEN. Its just pathetic that 8 year old system get treatd better then the Wii U. So if the Wii was an “HD” system with its 100 million userbase it would get all these things…ha no. 3rd party games just hate Nintendo and go on the 3rd party boxes. PShit4 and Xbox Done.

  • DragonSilths

I have had this on Wii U pre-ordered and paid off since like September…This is getting ridicules its the only Ubisoft game I gave a fuck about. I bet their was never even a Wii U version to begin with so they need this “more time” to actually finish making a cheap and crappy port. 3rd party devs especially in the west are so fucking bad its not even funny. Maybe I’ll switch that pre-order to DKC: TF, and I hate DKC: TF…

This is similar to the 9 month Rayman Legends delay…

  • SGTMAR

If you look at your Wii U game collection and see 3 or less third party games, you’re part of the problem for these delays. Go out there and buy Wii U third party games. Plain and simple.

    • jrob23

Show me a single 3rd party Wii U game that wasn’t delayed or gimped in some manner. ZombiU? Own it. Now name another…

      • SGTMAR

AC4, rayman, Splinter cell. All great games on the U.

Doesn’t matter. You need to go out and buy the games. Complaining won’t help. Don’t fight Nintendo’s battles.

        • alex toschi

Or they could just buy what they enjoy for whatever console they want. Who are you to tell people how to spend their money? Unless you know they are the hypocrites then reserve judgement. I have Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, Rayman Legends, and Assassin’s Creed 4 when it comes to third party titles.

        • jrob23

Rayman Legends-turned non exclusive and delayed
          Splinter Cell-no offline co op
          AC4-lazy port
Only Rayman was great as it was built up specifically for the Wii U. However, even that, along with the other two are pretty much straight ps360 ports as far as graphics go. They did NOT try and maximize the Wii U, they are all three incredibly lazy after thoughts.
Do you even pay attention to these things that make us all angry? I am wondering if you were aware of these differences. Not quite sure why you are being an apologist. There has really only been a few multi plats that came out at the same time as Xbone and PS4 ..COD Ghosts, AC4, Arkham Origins. In each case the Wii U version was lacking features, or not up to next gen standards graphically.
So should we buy these games on the Wii U despite this? Makes zero sense.

    • Brandon

I dont think its just sales. Judging by its hardware it might have to do with developers needing more time.

  • Yoshifan3

Let the tears flow from angry nintendo fanboys so that i may enjoy their salty goodness.

im so glad i sold my wii u.

    • Superstick98

Idiot. I have a PS3 and Wii U. And I’m sure a majority of people here have other platforms as well. But that’s not the point. Watch Dogs was delayed on Wii U. >_<

    • nexxus6

Are you sure you are referring to our tears?

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

This is difficult because if you don’t buy the game it just solidifies the fact that a highly anticipated game is not going to sell well on the Wii U as Nintendo fans are not buying third party games, but the delay is making it hard to be excited for the game and support Ubisoft.

  • Jon

I think I am done with Ubisoft games now. I’ll just avoid them on every platform.

    • Petri

      I’m close to that.

But if it comes to it, like EA, they as well have one change to get on my good side, and that’s BG&E 2.
I loved the first one on GameCube, was my favorite game on the system, and one of my favorites of all time.

  • DJKeens

Looking forward to the article where Ubisoft says low sales are due to lack of interest ignoring the fact that when the Wii U version releases it will be old news and no doubt have something missing. Oh and no DLC. Gee I wonder why the other versions are selling better?

  • GuardiansFan

This is BULL and if it bombs on the wii u its because of this delay.
I still want to hear wether the game will make use of the gamepad or not because if it is ill wait.

  • TalesOfBS

GJ Ubishit. Getting it on Piratebay and saving my $60 for a Nintendo game or any other 3rd party developer who doesn’t treat us as second rate customers.

  • capitalism1023

You know what I’m excited to play this year?

    Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
    Mario Kart 8
    Smash Bros.
    X
    Bayonetta 2
    Space Pioneer
    Tengami
    Fast Racing
    Project C.A.R.S.
    Yarn Yoshi
    Hyrule Warriors
and the other 170 Indie games coming to the Wii U

That’s about 15 games per month, so I’m perfectly satisfied with my Wii U and I’m pretty sure I can survive with watch dogs getting delayed.

  • felony211662

i even tried to single handedly login to uPlay to show ubi i’m using their worthless software app so i can’t play SvM on blacklist!!

  • LordiMcKill

Well all I can say is that it’ll have a lot of extra polish to it, possibly some extra free content.

  • Guhtere

I bet to say they’re sorry they’ll make the demo a Wii U exclusive.

  • nexxus6

The WiiU is getting the short end of the stick once again. The funny thing about this situation is that IF Watchdogs does come out for the WiiU, it won’t sell well because its is going to be months after the other consoles get theirs. People will have played it on other systems and the WiiU version will probably be stripped down which will contribute to bad sales. These bad sales will then feed the developers and Nintendo haters to get on their horse and start pounding their chest with “See, the WiiU version didn’t sell. Why should companies support it?” mantra. If Ubi or anyone want to use install base numbers, as of today the WiiU has more systems in homes than does PS4 or Xbone. I would not be surprised one bit if Sony or Microsoft gave Ubi some extra financial resources to put the WiiU version on the back burner because they know the gamepad may actually drive gamers to purchase the WiiU version. Also, I won’t be surprised if the WiiU version eventually gets cancelled (i.e. Alien Colonial Marines). I own many Ubisoft titles (ZombiU, ACIII, ACIV, Rayman, and Splinter Cell) on the WiiU, but if Watchdogs gets cancelled, I won’t be buying another Ubisoft title. I would have had no problem if they decided from day 1 not to bring the title to the WiiU, but I don’t appreciate companies misleading their consumers and then begging for their dollars.

  • criminal

all the game companies want the wii u to fail because its awesome and nintendo did it first, you will see every console out there we`re made after nintendo`s consoles. and the next consoles and the current ones will have what nintendo did for wii u.
Remember this comment it will happen. and when it will do i will do something about it, yeah im threatening all the companies i will come after you

    • oontz

Ha ha ha… get over yourself.

      Calm down psycho.

  • Anthony Ank Mudshark Owdienko

do you know this site gets all the news from http://mynintendonews.com/

  • Anthony Ank Mudshark Owdienko
    • jrob23

but that site is run by a negative Nancy fcktard

    • Petri

Have you followed the comment board over there?
      It’s a total shitfest…

  • Michael Ocampo

If they’re doing this so the Wii U version can have it’s own moment without competing against the other versions then, why don’t they release the Wii U version first instead but if it’s to add lotsa cool Wii U exclusive features then I can understand. Whatever the case is, I hope things turn out AWESOME!

  • Fierce-Deity Link

so ubi delayed the release of rayman so it could be released alongside the other consoles.. now, they will release the game in all other consoles and not wait to finish the wii u version.. seems legit

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/GamersTreeHouse2013?feature=watch GamersTreeHouse2013

This wil result in less sales on the Wii U because there would be plenty of Wii U owners who want the game DAY ONE and instead buy it on one of the other platforms or PC.

The question is also if the game is any good. It looks fun but final reviews and hands onmy change all that. Nintendo fans support third party devs but only if the game is good enough (Thanks Nintendo for spoiling us and setting a standared of quality we expect from game titles) :)

  • paddy212gaming

hi folks, please ‘like’ my new facebook page paddy212gaming thanks:)

  • Arthur Jarret

Ubisoft on Rayman Legends delay: “We usually release all of our platforms simultaneously (aside from PC). We’ve made special exception sometimes in the past but it’s
definitely just on a case by case basis and not our standard practice.

“In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than
separately. I know it’s not an elaborate, ‘convincing’ answer, but it’s
    the simple truth.”

    Aaand ubisoft now…
Watchdogs just became a bargain-bin buy for me – despite that I was planning to buy for PS4 anyway.

    • Petri

I could buy it for PC, but Ubisoft is lucky, that I have so many unfinished games on Wii U, so that I wont mind a little delay, even though I’m very dissatisfied at them for the reason you have stated as well.
But over a month of delay, or cancelling all together, might make me wary of any Ubisoft releases in the future, on any platform.

Its too bad, that gamers only care their preferred console, but I cant support developer/publisher by buying a (full price) 60€ game, that is showing utter disrespect.

  • Renan Cardozo

Nintendo is the most guilty of this. they made a policy of just making first party games for fanboys that just want to play fucking mario, zelda and DK. everytime that a new cool game comes up, it is always put down by this same fans that are always complaing on getting more first party games. congratulations now you have a company that just makes that and it is going under, satisfied? I love my wii u but unfortunatly I will have to buy a PS4 because i can’t play any game that isen’t mario and such in the future, thanks to this fanboys and nintendo that thinks the console it is just for nintendo games.

    • Denvy

Nintendo is going under? In what world is a company sitting on 10+ billion “going under”? They made mistakes yes, but are far from going out.

      • Renan Cardozo

yeah, but you get my point, losing 20% of its value in a week it’s not a good trajectory, they try to create a isolated marked only for there consumers but that sucks for people like me who likes some of the nintendo games but doesn’t want just that, and I think most gamers don’t buy it nintendo for this same reason. and I find funny how this comment got downvoted by the same fanboys (sorry for my english, it is not my native language)

        • Denvy

I don’t think they’re TRYING to create that type of marketplace. It would be financially foolish to. However, their choices and operations are directly causing this very outcome. They need to change for sure and while I love my Wii U, a bomb of a console might need to happen to them to wise up. I agree with you though. I’d love not to have to purchase other consoles for multi platform titles, but I also knew I’d probably have to going into my purchase.

    • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Its the opposite dude, all gamers want those games, but so far Wii U doesnt have Third party support, hell, even Nintendo support does not exist

  • Aces ‘n Eights

“We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft”.

Translation: Our developers’ time will be spent on making sure the versions that will sell well (systems other than the Wii-U) are perfected. We’ll get back to the Wii-U version as time allows.

  • Aleks

Im sorry to all those being shafted again by uneven console release dates. Personally, i dont care, im a two console guy and never would have bought it for WiiU anyway. I will always have a Nintendo and the cutting edge home console (and no, never PC). As soon as i can find one I will get the ps4. My point is that i am only spending my money on first class Ninty games AND best version of a cross platformer. I have ZERO interest investing precious hours into playing a games least modern version. Robust online and specs are way more important than lower end graphics but with a gamepad. Still a ninty supporter though.

  • Agent721

Unless the tablet functionality is out of this world, it’ll be a PS3 buy for me.

  • Rinslowe

Think I’ll pick up Watchdogs first on one of the other platforms, then if it’s using the gamepad properly I’ll get a Wii U copy as well. Lets see…

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Wanna be pat of the solution? Just buy this game, buy it. It doesnt matter if the game miss features, it doesnt matter if the framerate is shit, it doesnt matter if it looks like shit, just buy it and show them that we want their games.

    • Linkus

I understand your argument here. However, that may not be much of a solution. Playing right into their game. Don’t commit to buying any software unless you’re sure it’s what you want. This game may be riddled with horrible bugs, or simply, it may not be that good a game. Be a bit more frugal about your gaming purchases. Ubisoft ain’t exactly known for glitch free games.

  • kensredemption

Hmm…if Ubisoft starts going the EA route and act like a bunch of lazy, whiny toddlers then I’m just going to organize a formal boycott for their games and buy them ONLY on Nintendo platforms. It’s one of the reasons I’m going to pass on Dragon Age: Inquisition and why I only bought more AC installments for the Wii U. No achievements, no attention-starved pre-pubescent drama queens, no pseudo-politics…the Nintendo Network is a paradise, and I think the invention of Miiverse made it possible.

  • TaintedXGamer

Inb4 no dlc for wii u coz they have a really don’t give 2 F###s stick up their rear hole like almost every third party game company/developers that gimped on games content on our beloved console. This isn’t like the wii s### they did. Downgraded games. They better not screw this up or I ain’t getting watchdogs at all

  • Adam Fox

Goes back to the article that Ubisoft did before talking about their Wii U sales being low….it’s their own fault!! They screwed over the Wii U owners with Rayman Legends, they are now screwing over the Wii U owners with Watch Dogs…..I got an idea…..i’ll download Watch Dogs for my CFW PS3, then when it comes out on Wii U, i’ll buy it……not gonna give Ubisoft a PS3 sale…..

    • Linkus

      Aha! A swell idea indeed.

  • Linkus

I did love Zombi U. However Ubi is almost dead to me. I’d rather Wii U just gamecube it. 1st party Nintendo games are better than any other games anyway. I wanted this game, but not this treatment. I’ll buy it used after the taste of disappointment has worn off.

  • Stuart Thomas

New Nintendo direct tomorrow, WIIUDaily why aren’t your reporting this!

  • Skelterz

I haven’t even clicked on that youtube link an i know what it is already lol i watched it earlier on, WII FUCK U lol.

  • jjbredesen

lol, i think i just shit myself again XD

  • jjbredesen

Um who deleted my comment?? Ashley? What was wrong with it?

  • Skelterz

lol im gunna get watchdogs second hand you should to fuck ubisoft!

  • jjbredesen

Nah, Ubisoft is a great developer one of the best out there, i understand why you guys are getting angry, but atleast we get the game, 3rd parties need to support Wii U, for it to sell, but they loose money on doing so, what ubisoft is doing is releasing the game on other systems so they can make a lot of money that will make up for what they loose on the Wii U verison, as much as they want to support Wii U, they can’t without going bankrupt and comments like yours don’t help the situation, what we need is for Nintendo to fix the situation so that there is a big enough install base, and then 3rd parties will release there games, because they can make money, its Nintendo’s fault that Wii U is in its situation, and they must fix it, no point in damage controlling.

  • Skelterz

I’m not damage controlling mate im joking the only game i’m truly interested in that ubi are deving is the division it looks great but its not coming to wii u so my frustration lies with the company aside from this discussion altogether and to be honest i think they should release during the gap between donkey kong and mario kart there shooting themselfs in the foot i think,
also my friend you’ve seen me comment a hell of a lot you should know when im kidding sometimes i like to troll.

  • jjbredesen

Ah ok ;) I understand what your saying sorry, just so many comments i have to reply to XD

  • Skelterz
