Kojima would like to see Snake return to Super Smash Bros.

snake-super-smash-bros

Yesterday, Hideo Kojima did a Q&A session on Twitch, answering fan questions about the series. One question that popped up was whether or not Snake would be in the new Super Smash Bros. Kojima admitted that he didn’t know because he wasn’t working on the game, but that if Sakurai wanted to use the character again, he would be more than happy to see him make his return to the series.

“I’m not working on that game so I don’t know, but I don’t think that’s likely. Well if Mr. Sakurai is watching this, please use Snake.”

Snake is a bit of a contentious character in the series, since Metal Gear Solid is more associated with the PlayStation platform than anything else. Many people would rather see Snake’s roster spot go to a more familiar Nintendo character, than borrow from other games. What do you think?

And we’d like to see MGS V on Wii U.

    • JB

      My thoughts exactly!

    • The Clockwork Being

I know right. I love Snake in Brawl, he was an awesome character to play with. The only reason he managed to get Snake in Brawl was because he was good friends with Sakurai and because he begged so much for Snake to be in the game.

Now although I respect Kojima and his works, he can’t just go around and get free advertisement for his game on another console. When the game game he is planning on marketing isn’t even coming to the console.

I say bring MGS V on Wii U, out Snake in SSB4. Then thats better marketing. People will see him in SSB4 and we will want to buy the game.

      • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

I still hesitate to buy MGS V, Kojima is one of those “all hail next gen, wii u is not powerfull enough for my super-upper-mega-tooAwesomeForYou-games” and I just don’t want to support that :(

And if I buy it, it would be on PC after all if not on Wii U.

        • BIG Franky

so then you are saying he is right then? LOL….

          • Dark-Link73

Not necessarily, Kojima and purge pundits who bash the Wii U, usually do it when comparing it to the other two consoles (PS4/X1). So by Ony buying a game on PC vs PS4/X1 it shows that he is in disagreement with such comments and does not support the other consoles over the Wii U.

          • D.M.T

            You gotta love common sense!

          • Dark-Link73

Common sense has become a lost art.

          • rp17

This would be better if Deadpool U said it, but…

          • Deadpool U

I would’ve said it but I was busy embarrassing people on IGN because it is hilarious!

          • jjbredesen

Common sense is so rare these days it should be classified as a super power!

          • https://twitter.com/Onyzora Ony

            Exactly.
Beside, Kojima is not known for his great PC support either.

          • MerryBlind .

Well he did say he would like to release the game on PC, but he’s not the one to decide.

          • David Trail

He should love pc though by his own logic?

        • Nicolas Dorion

You know, those decisions belong to Konami, not Kojima

          • CMB

he is vice president of konami

      • The Clockwork Being

But we all know that common sense isn’t a thing in the industry right?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

If you like the games, then buy it on the PS4 or Xbox One. Can’t get what you want on every console.

        • The Clockwork Being

Oh I will buy for sure, I’m just a saying the state of things

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Fair enough.

      • Nicolas Dorion

no, the biggest reason why snake was in brawl was because of a deal they made with the creation of MGS: Twin Snakes which was an exclusive to the gamecube. He was supposed to be in melee but they didn’t have time to develop it, so he went to brawl

    • jjbredesen
      • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

        Well Me Too ;)

    • Ducked

I agree, but 3rd party games never sell on Wii U

      • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

        we miss something

      • D.M.T

False. Resident Evil games sell well on Nintendo consoles. And this is just an example. There are more 3rd party games that sell well on Nintendo systems. Those that don’t sell on Nintendo systems are terrible ports with framerate issues and missing features.

    • Javy G

Even a HD collection will do! Iwata put him in anyway! Get him looking at the Wii U!

    • Ryan F

And if you want another stealth-action game on WiiU, Sam Fisher would like to have a word with you.

    • Yoshifan3

dream on, you guys will never get that game. its a much better series to be played on Playstation anyway. where it was meant to be played.

you guys wont even get ground zeroes, so what makes you think you guys are getting the phantom pain? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

What up with the name? Yoshifan1, Yoshifan2 and Yoshifan where already taken?

    • Noah Hood

As soon as I saw the title of this post, I thought the exact same thing.

    • abe

i’d rather see the MGS legacy collection for Wii U or 3D remakes of the first 2 mgs games on 3DS.

  • Nintenjoe82

I would like to see Snake in the new Smash Bros. but seeing him in a Metal Gear game on a Nintendo console…..? That’s just crazy talk.

    • SynchroChaos

um… twin snakes on gamecube and snake eater on 3ds

      • Yep

Please don’t count snake eater port…my god it’s bad..such fps

      • Nintenjoe82

Yeah it was awesome, I know it sold poorly but it was a remake of a game everyone played released on an unpopular console. Would love to see the HD collection on Wii U.

I sold my copy of twin snakes for £8, quite a big mistake :(£)

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Don’t forget the very first 2 Metal Gear titles (before it became Metal Gear Solid on ps) The lovers of the series these days on PS most of them don’t even know the first 2 installments where on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Unless you know these fans, you don’t know whether they are aware of the NES games or not. Lol. You’re basing it on assumptions. I’m a big fan of the MGS series, but I’m certainly aware of them. The past is just that, past. MGS today, fits better on PS than it does a Nintendo console. Even when Twin Snakes released back on gamecube, it sold less than 500k. Snake Eater 3D on 3DS, sold poorly too. It shows where the demographic lies.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

And that’s where you are wrong my friend, as I said “MOST” lovers of te series don’t know it, I never sad none of the lovers know it. I too am a fan of the series and played/own almost all of the games.

The one title I dind’t know of until 4 months ago was the Gamecube Game Twin Snakes, the reason why I didn’t know of the GC version is because it has never been released in Europe. All fans I see in my local Gamestore who ask about MGS5 I ask them on Metal Gear and Metal Gear Snakes Revenge if tgey know it. 95% says no, they only know of Metal Gear Solid on PS and the later installments, yet noone in Europe I spoke knew of Twin Snakes on GC.

Again because it was never released in Europe. So don’t fill in an answer if you don’t know the answer.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s where you’re wrong my friend. As I said, unless you know most of these gamers, then you are assuming, which is just an opinion. There’s no evidence that backs up your claims. I can certainly fill in an answer when I know you’re passing off your opinion as a fact. What does it not being released in Europe have to do with what I said? Do you know every person in Europe too? Be real.

As for the hype, most games have hype. That’s what advertising is for. Lol. Back then was a different story since there was no internet back then to expand on it. They depended on ads in stores, magazines or word of mouth.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

My last reply to this, I agree with your last line, back then they where overshadowed by other 3rd party games indeed.

As far as twin snakes goes it could never gain popularity in Europe if it isn’t released there, same happened on Baiten Katos 2. That’s what it has to do with your statement about twin snakes and the 3DS games not being very populair on nintendo consoles.

As far as te solid games go and the hype about the titles on PS consoles doesn’t have much to do with internet, tv commercial I talk about here, in every commercial block on tv on pretty much every channel here you saw the commercial for mgs, or else a FF commercial, back then sony owned the television commercials as all videogame commercials you saw where on the sony platform.

Never I saw a commercial for snake eater on 3ds, not on tv nor on iternet, but tons on ps, even now that hasn’t changed. Yet everyone wonders why Wii U fails, lack of 3rd party support, lack of advertising. Hence a Wii U version of the game (if even possible) would never get attention as in Europe Nintendo isn’t doing well.

Only reason for mgs being more populair on sony is plain and simple: advertising spam on both tv and internet. To me it matters not though because Wii U is not my only console. PS4 will follow as soon as they are available again (most recent I heard end of April, it’s sold out the next month and a half) and I’ll get my mgs games on my PS in due time.

      • Nothing5555

wow I never new snake eater was release on the 3ds maybe i should look it up.

    • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

The Twin Snakes ring any bells?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

It sure does. While it was a solid title, it had low sales. Konami is assuming that MGS V would be the same story. In which, they are likely right about.

    • ExtremeAzure98

      Wasn’t there a MGS game on 3DS?

      • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

        yes Snake Eater [3D]

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, but it sold poorly. MGS V basically isn’t coming to the Wii U because there’s not enough fans of the series on Nintendo consoles.

  • Seth S. Scott

I enjoyed him in brawl but I would be ok with his departure. Especially if he is not in any way included by now adding him would definitely delay the game even more. No thanks! :)

  • J_Joestar

Is Kojima’s passing comment on it really enough to let Sakurai include Snake in the game? i’d assume there are a lot more legal matters that have to be dealt with first wouldn’t there?

  • Frankie

Kojima wants Metal Gear Solid V on Wii U he said it before, but Konami will not let him.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

I haven’t seen one article that stated he did. Lol. If I remember correctly, he said he has no idea what to do with the gamepad, so that means he thought about it, but decided not to. You’re right, Konami probably wouldn’t agree to it anyway. Far as I know, he wants Snake to be in SSB4, but that’s about it.

  • David Trail

If you want him in Smash., Put an MGS game on Wii U. A remake of 4 maybe… At the very least.

    • The Clockwork Being

No I say the Legacy collection HD on Wii U+MGS V.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

I guess it’s nice to dream.

        • The Clockwork Being

Well if the HD Legacy collection would come to Wii U I would buy it for sure. Then follow the Saga buy playing MGS V: GZ and MGS V: PP on my PS4!

      • Yep

Legacy – yes, this will be best way to play this games. But MGS 5? Why would you want to play it on wii u? Get it for ps or bone.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Exactly. If people want the games, then buy the console that has it. That’s like people wanting Uncharted on Wii U.

          • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Isn’t that the exact same for Bayonetta 2? Yet people almost demand Bayonetta 2 to be brought to PS4/XOne, but forgetting the main reason as of “Why and How” Bayonetta was resurrected.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

umm… uncharted is a sony exclusive.. mgs clearly isn’t, hence it makes sense to want it on a nintendo console… any one who wants uncharted should be smart enough knows they need to get a ps to get it.. so yeah.. not sure if you were just trying to be “funny” or something

          • Daniel Gonzalez

In this case, it makes perfect sense considering Konami has no plans to bring MGS V to the Wii U. The point of the comment was: If you want the game that badly, then buy the console or consoles to make it more clear, that it’s available on. It’s not coming to the Wii U, so adding in Uncharted in this case makes sense. Most people identify with MGS on Playstation consoles than they do Xbox.

          • Fierce-Deity Link

you used uncharted as an example which doesn’t apply… mgs isn’t a first party exclusive nor a 3rd party one… it makes sense if people want mgs or kingdom hearts for the wii u when these titles are going multiplatform.. yes i agree if people want a game they should buy that console, but at the same time i don’t see a problem with them wanting it badly for theirs so long as it makes sense.. if nintendo fans were badly hoping for halo on a nintendo console then yeah i’d call them out on it, but this is a 3rd party game that isn’t by any means exclusive

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m going with the fact that when you think MGS games, people think Playstation. There’s no denying that fans of the series, identify with it on Playstation consoles. That was my point. Uncharted was to add on to it. Had nothing to do with it being exclusive or not. You’re entitled to disagree with it, but I stand by it.

        • RockieOllie

The point is, why would Sakurai include Snake, a character who’s series rarely appears on a Nintendo platform, in a Nintendo all – star fighting game.

The reason people are asking to put MGS on the Wii U is to justify putting Snake in smash

        • The Clockwork Being

I will buy it for my PS4! I’m stating how he would be showing his support for the Wii U

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Small sales doesn’t sound too enticing to Konami.

      • Yep

Or any company for that matter.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Indeed.

      • David Trail

He put mgs on the vita???

        • abe

well only mgs 2 and 3 in the ‘collection’ missing out peace walker which was present on the home console versions.

the collection was disapointing because it was just upscaled they didn’t refresh the graphics. peace walker looked amazing on PSP but on a TV screen it isn’t so nice

      • David Trail

He made mgs for the vita. He can make some sort of mgs game for wii u.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Of course. The Playstation brand has been home to MGS for a long time
now. It was expected. No one expects it on Nintendo consoles. Perhaps you’d like to see it as well as a small minority of Nintendo fans, but that’s the problem there. This games audience is on Sony platforms, and perhaps some on Microsoft too.

As for a game just for Wii U, I’m sure he can, but that’s up to his superiors to okay that. Twin Snakes for example was a great game and I have it even today. While it was a solid title, it sold poorly and wasn’t profitable. Konami certainly remembers that, and will be hesitant on bringing anything to a Nintendo console. Maybe someday you’ll see another MGS game on Nintendo, but it’s less likely this generation.

          • abe

considering MGS IV retroactivly added CQC to Solid Snake’s abillites a remake of the first few games for wii u would be great.

despite it’s “Kojima let off the leash” crazy antics i enjoyed Twin Snakes a metric butt-load

  • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

Why did he wait until the ass end of production to say that? Sakurai shouldn’t put Snake in unless they plan on porting MGS5 or making an exclusive MGS for the 3DS or Wii U.Give a little to get a little,Kojima

    • Snake Eater

Like Metal Gear Solid HD on the 3ds or Wii U

      • David Trail

Wii U would be better but both if possible maybe. 3DS has enough support imo.

        • Dáibhí wotshissurname

True, but The Snake Eater for 3DS was brilliant, epecially through how 3D helped with the stealth.

          • Yep

Really? How could you play it? Below 15fps all the time it’s like they don’t even care. Don’t support this shitty port – don’t buy it!

      • abe

well there was Metal Gear Solid 3-D Snake Eater at launch so there was atleast one MGS game on the current systems. I’d love MGS twin snakes and sons of liberty 3D remakes

  • Snake Eater

I am hoping that he adds him, Snake added something that made the game better, also Snake is awesome

    • Yep

      Agreed!

  • CaesarGood

I rather see Snake back in MGS on the Wii U…

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Buy quality third party games, and maybe you’ll see MGS games on Wii U or the next Nintendo console.

      • Deadpool U

You say that like most 3rd party games on Wii U are quality.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t recall ever saying that most of it was, now did I?

  • MerryBlind .

Mehh, I find he doesn’t really belong in the game.

  • Mario

Sadly, there is little chance of that happening.

    • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

      You Think Plummer

      • Mario

Yes, I think. I never said it was impossible that he may be added. Just that the chances of that happening are very small.

        • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

Well You’re Never Know What Sakurai will put in

          • Mario

True. He always finds a way to surprise us all. Doesn’t he?

          • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

            Yep

  • David Trail

I liked Snake in Brawl but Bayonetta or Shulk would be a better character.

    • Mario

      Shulk is more likely.

    • MerryBlind .

Don’t forget Wonder Red or Blue from Wonderful 101! Bayonetta, Shulk, and Wonder Red would be AWESOME additions to the roster, and would give all 3 games more exposure!

  • Sean

if they would put metal gear on wii u then ya! but in reality no, dont put snake in

  • Capt. Smoker

I never saw the appeal in MGS, I tried to like it, but it just didn’t happen, I can’t see Snake fitting into the mix….

  • BIG Franky

use Snake’s roster spot on Bayonetta…. it works. in theory she should be the same style of player, edgy, and at least her game is a Wii U exclusive.

  • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

I’ve never play any Metal Gear games, and I don’t want to, but Snake was unbeatable in Brawl. So many moves to use. I would like to see him back as well.

    • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

      Unbeatable!?!?! Don´t Forget Sonic Alright

      • J_Joestar

nah, you know who is gonna be unbeatable?

        • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

No Sonic With Sonic’s Speed Alright He’s the Fastest Thing Alive and Don’t EVER Forget

      • Dáibhí wotshissurname

Sonic was only really good on his own stage. This is a topic that could drag on…

        • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

          Really?

  • Dáibhí wotshissurname

I insert an MGSV retort, but it’s not like it hasn’t been said yet.

  • Andrew Gonzalez

I think it could work but as a DLC. I’m sure there already far along where they can’t add anymore characters that they haven’t already started working on.

  • cthreep

Snake is aight, but I’d rather play as a Metroid and suck the life out of peoples’ brains.

  • Dark-Link73

Even though I rarely used Snake, I would like to set his return to Smash. However, I remember Sakurai (or whomever is person directing Smash) stating that they would not have any Tekken characters on Smash because it’s a totally different type of fighter. So I doubt he’d contemplate the idea of bringing back Snake.

    • lonewolf

      Snake is not from Tekken.

      • Dark-Link73

I know, but if the Smash director won’t user Tekken characters (a fighting game) because he feels they’re to different, I can’t imagine why he would use Snake which is coming from an stealth-adventure game (or whatever genre MGS is).

        • J_Joestar

A lot of the characters we have come from a wide variety of games with different play styles.

          • Dark-Link73

I know! That’s why I was so puzzled and surprised to hear one of the head people (like I said, I’m not sure exactly who said it) of the project saying they wouldn’t use any Tekken characters for that reason. This was mentioned last year toward the beginning of production when Namco was announced as the studio handling the game and people, including me, started speculating about the possibility of having Namco characters in the game as fighters. So the Namco person (I think the director) debunked the rumors/speculations stating that the Tekken characters used “a different fighting style” that did not fit that of the Smash series.

Total BS if you ask me.

          • J_Joestar

sounds like it was probably a BS reason, maybe Namco just didn’t want them to or wanted something else like Pac-man instead and whoever said it was just left hanging and tossed out the first reason he could think of?

          • Dark-Link73

Yeah I hear you. Sad to see the only way Namco “supports” the Wii U is by getting paid by Nintendo.

          • Fantasyorigins

this is what he said “The biggest feature we look at in Smash Bros. is, ‘What does this character bring to Smash Bros. that other characters don’t?’ If you look at… someone from a fighting game already, and people like fighting with this character, from my point of view, it’s like ‘this guy does what this guy already does. He fills the role that this character already has. So while you may like this character and he’s interesting, that doesn’t really merge well, here.”

          • Dark-Link73

THAT’S IT!!!!! (Peanuts reference) But seriously though, if Nintendo was able to “merge” characters like Snake, R.O.B., and Ike; with characters like Kirby, Sonic, and Ice Climbers. I’m sure Namco would’ve been able to “merge” a couple of Tekken characters if they really wanted to do so. No matter how distinct or different they are.

          • Fantasyorigins

he just dose’t what the characters the same on smash look how different mega man is form marvel vs capcom maybe the next smash we see a tekken character.

        • lonewolf

But he was already in one of the previous smash bros games.

  • Shota

    ….

  • helpo

    https://www.change.org/petitions/nintendo-adding-online-multiplayer-and-voice-chat-to-virtual-console-games
I just Posted a Petition to add online multiplayer and Voice chat to VC games just imagine how awesome hat would be!!

    • Fantasyorigins

Sorry but that would be to hard to make old games with online and voice chat i don’t see this happen.

      • helpo

They did it with doom so they can do it for nintendo VC its possible.

        • J_Joestar

It would have to be a very game-by-game situation which probably wouldn’t be worth the effort.

          • helpo

oh it can be worth the effort choosing the right games to do it to that are popular and market it and it can be a huge hit their are many retro gamers and core gamers or even casual that would want this i know i do and if it did happen i know it would do well i mean the nes remix did well so this will to i know it and the nes remix did so well that they made a 2nd one

  • Spike Ashford

Put Metal Gear Solid V, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Metal Gear Rising on Wii U, then we’ll talk.

  • linkzero65

    how about a DLC ?

    • Fantasyorigins

maybe but don’t forget sakurai did say there won’t be a lot of 3 party characters.

    • J_Joestar

DLC isn’t really a part of Sakurai’s game design philosophy though.

      • Blue Hernandez

        He’s so rad.

      • linkzero65

yeah maybe but one can still dream ;p

    • Ricky_NGmr

About Snake on Smash!? That’s my though on this whole situation!! The game can still go out on holidays 2014… later on a negotiation can be done from Ni tendo’s side with Kojima Production and bring a DLC for SmashBros. : Snake has come to challenge!!

  • Ryan Hargrove

Yeah how about we get MGS V and we’ll see. He was was so odd in Brawl

  • Zuxs13

Bring MGS V to the Wii U and then we might see it in Smash. pretty simple really.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

He was in Brawl, and not one MGS game appeared on Wii. Lol. So if he isn’t on SSB4, it wouldn’t be because MGS V isn’t on the Wii U. In either case, I think Kojima can live with Snake not being in SSB4. If Wii U owners really want MGS V so bad, get a PS4 or Xbox One(Or PS3/360). Simple really.

      • David Trail

We don’t want it that bad. That is the problem. It can be played on ps3, 360, xbox one. It would be nice to have it on our console though. Nintendo fans aren’t generally clamouring to get the next metal gear.

        • Zuxs13

They tend to. Metal Gear started on Nintendo. It did very well on the Game cube too. The 3DS metal gear was a solid remake too.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Twin Snakes sold poorly on Gamecube. It was a solid game, I’ll give you that. Just doesn’t have the demographic.

          • Zuxs13

To be fair i think every 3rd party game on the GC did poorly, except maybe Rouge Squadron 2. Twin snakes was a good game and even ranked in the top 25 GC games, so i don’t know why it didnt sell well.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

There’s not enough Nintendo fans that care about those games I would say. Most of them prefer Nintendo games. It’s been that way for years. It’s a shame, because there are many great third party games that they miss out on. If enough fans thought as you did, then perhaps sales would be better, which in turn, will bring third party games like MGS V to the Wii U.

          • Zuxs13

Nintendo make amazing games (most of the time) but hey don’t make everything for games. I guess i grew up with the first Nintendo and always played 3rd party especially on SNES along with Nintendo games. I never jumped ship from Big N to the PS, though I did own a PS2 and a PS3, mainly due to MG, FF, and a few other games that started out on Big N.

I think most gamers on here today are Post SNES or even N64 so they are used to only playing Nintendo games. It’s good that Nintendo fans play more than Bland shooters etc, but they also just play Nintendo games and rarely branch out. So when the games don’t come to them they bitch with out ever buying it.

Look how many ans didn’t by Rayman Legends because Ubisoft made it multi plat. now Ubisoft is backing off a bit on bringing awesome games to Wii U, despite the far it sold by far the best on the Wii U.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’ve been there since the NES. Playing Super Mario Bros for the first time was awesome, and couldn’t get enough of it. Considering I only had an Atari 2600 prior, it was major upgrade then. Third party on NES and SNES was superb in those days. Of course, there was little competition with the exception of Sega Genesis. While I did play a lot of PSone games, I also did get my share of N64 back then. My favorites were Mario 64, Super Smash Bros, and Pokemon Stadium.

When PS2 came around the corner, I decided to stick with that and passed on the GC for the time being. It just had more of what I was looking for, which included third party. I did get GC around 2004. Super Mario Sunshine, while I didn’t like it compared to Mario 64, was still quite fun and still had that charm. Only thing I hated about it, was FUDD. Wasn’t a fan of spraying water to defeat enemies, but that’s just me. Best third party game I enjoyed was MGS Twin Snakes and Resident Evil remake. Both top notch games.

Anyways…back to topic, that’s one thing that baffles me. When Nintendo fans bitch about third party, going as far as making petitions and the whole nine yards, they don’t buy third party. So only thing I see is, they don’t buy them, yet are fine with bitching that sales were low and blame third parties in some way. I can understand if the game was gimped, but I doubt every third party game had that issue. The Rayman Legends fiasco I can understand as they could have released the game on time, though I think it was because of Microsoft’s third party policy. While I felt it was wrong, I still agreed with Ubisoft’s decision. They did what they felt was best.

It’s good to see that Ubisoft is still supporting them despite the low sales, they’re an exception to the norm. Nintendo I think needs to continue to cater to the third parties that still are supporting them such as Capcom, Sega, etc. Wii U is certainly a unique console with plenty of potential, but majority of third parties don’t see it as a safe haven. I did hear that Nintendo is rethinking their business model and rebuilding, so hopefully, it’ll change things around. Time will tell.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Okay, so why are people on here making a case about it?

          • David Trail

            Didn’t I explain it already?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Do you speak for everyone? I honestly doubt that.

      • Zuxs13

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 were both on the Wii…. LOL

        • Daniel Gonzalez

That was only bundled. Lol, and was on NES long ago. The only games since to make it to a Nintendo console, was Twin Snakes, and that sold poorly. Chances are, it’ll be the same deal, so it was expected that MGS V wasn’t going to make it to the Wii U. If fans like yourself want it so badly, then buy a PS4, Xbox One, PS3 or 360. Just as if I wanted to play Bayonetta so badly, I’d get a Wii U. No use complaining about it.

          • Zuxs13

They were VC games on the Wii.
Dont forget Metal Gear snake eater. that was the most recent.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Okay, my mistake. 3DS of Snake Eater didn’t sell well either. That’s what it’s based off of. It should come as no surprise to anyone that there isn’t a Wii U port of MGS V.

          • Zuxs13

It sold about 1/10 of the original version, the 3ds had a bad rap at the point and it was a remake so not great bot not terrible. I can see it would be enough to scare them off from a Wii U release.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Indeed. That’s basically the problem. Companies are easily hesitant when they see poor sales While it’s not always good to assume, but seeing how third party games have been overshadowed by 1st party games on Nintendo consoles, I can see where they are coming from. I will agree that they should take a chance from time to time, but at this point, it’s up to Nintendo to convince them of that.

      • Deadpool U

Kojima practically begged Sakurai to put Snake in brawl he didn’t deserve a spot there anyway.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Okay. Why do you think that?

  • Shaise

    Just bring him back.

  • Javoom

Forget solid snake in wii u. I firmly believe that if characters want to be in a smash bros game they at least have to support the console. By that I could see small indie characters showing up as assist trophies “Toki-tori, Gunman Clive, etc” these small developers at least showed some love toward nintendo.

  • AM Real

    LET SNAKE JOIN THE BATTLE!

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

Kojima has no plans of releasing Metal Gear Solid games on the Wii U which every other console will get that opportunity, but he’s asking for Snake to be in Smash? That’s just total B.S.

    • Blue Hernandez

      Bayonetta would be sick!

  • Squid

I don’t want him in, he doesn’t fit.

  • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

    i say YEAH!!!

    • Blue Hernandez

      Are you the Mobius Sonic?

      • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

Eeehhh no i’m Sonic, Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog from the Year 2099

        • Blue Hernandez

          Haha never heard of him.

          • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

            Nope

  • FutureFox

Support the console then you cluck!

  • Saul Rivera

The messages he got from the general for each character was hilarious..especially the one about Luigi…
That being said…I would love to see Snake return too since he was a fun character to use and along that maybe a HD remake of Twin Snakes (which will not happen of course)…

  • Blue Hernandez

It would be cool as long as we get some MGS on the Wii U.

  • Fierce-Deity Link

meh.. snake was fun, but he definitely needs to be cut off… sonic nd megaman have a long history in nintendo now.. snake clearly doesnt.. add shulk instead.. if ppl want another character than a castlevania character could replace him

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Snake would be fun, I enjoyed him in the Wii Version, but we’ll just have to wait and see which possible new challengers would make an appearance.

    • ETeach

Sylux, have you gotten an invitation to Smash yet? You’d be pretty awesome, as long as you weren’t just a Samus clone XD

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Meh they love Samus more then me. I haven’t gotten an invitation yet, but I really deserve it huh. Wario, Waluigi and me are so underrated, we always stand in the shadow of our brethren. Mario over Wario, because Mario has a funny dialect.

Waluigi under Luigi, just because Luigi can walk in the Air.

And me under Samus! (hmm that came out wrong o_0′ ), because I’m a Space Pirate according the federation and Samus is a hot tall blonde woman, how I loathe her!

Edit: “Off record” Truth is I love her but she doesn’t love me but I can’t say that publicly…

  • Sdudyoy

I didn’t mind playing as him in Brawl, but I still felt like he was out of place in that game, there seem to be more Human characters in this game so I wouldn’t care as much if he where in this game.

  • Rinslowe

    This is kinda hilarious….

  • Logan Wayman

As much I like to see Solid Snake in here, I’d like to see Bayonetta in here as well.

  • Sultan 7

metal gear the twin snakes for GC was nice. dont see why he couldnt do atleast a HD release of past MGS titles on Wii U

  • leo

Why wouldnt you want snake?!?! Come on bring him BACK!!!!

  • e_rocket

Then he should bring MGS V to the wii U… as easy as that!!!

  • Xero Azure

Can A bunch of good people post this in many good places? :J http://www.change.org/petitions/dark-souls-ii-for-the-nintendo-wiiu

  • JeanPaul

wtf? no! What about metal gear on WiiU?

  • Cube

NO, they don’t even make games for Nintendo.
What they should add to Super Mario Bros is The wonderful 101 or Baynatto 2 lady.
Some quickly send this idea to Nintendo… I’m a genius

  • ETeach

And I’m sure Nintendo would like to see MGS make it on the WiiU. How bout a trade Kojima?

    • Daniel Gonzalez

He has no say in that. Besides, it doesn’t work that way.

      • ETeach

It was more of a joke. The video game industry is a little more complex than that irl XD

  • Destructonator101

No, stuff snake. Put Big Boss in the game instead!

  • Konnor Cook

My Brother is devastating when he uses Snake. When I use him against my friends, they get really pissed because they always forget about his Claymores.

  • Stephen Davis

Their not the only ones! Yes please bring him back in all his HD goodness :P

  • Warren

Wants Snake in SSB but won’t bring MGS to Wii U, where’s the logic in that?

  • LordiMcKill

What’s going on Snake, respond?! Snake? SSSSSSNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Ba da, da da da, der der der.

  • X3Charlie

I think they should bring him back, they shouldn’t backtrack on their 3rd party characters.

  • miamirican305

I think Kojima should talk to Konami and tell them to release some Metal Gear games on the Wii U. How about that?!?

  • Spaniard0069

    DLC?

  • Snake Eater

It is not crazy talk, Hideo Kojima said that Metal Gear would be perfect on the Wii U. So Nintendo, please, get it to happen. Make an exclusive title about one of Solid many missions way back when.

  • http://www.redbubble.com/people/toastedmoose/ SpareChnge

Snake would be fun, but I would also like to see Chase McCain in the new Smash Bros.

  • Ian Settlemyer

Snake has appeared in a few Nintendo-liscenced games.

  • Michael Collins

I say no MGS V on the Wii U then no Snake in SSB. All or nothing baby!
