New Watch Dogs trailer released

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Watch Dogs — you know, the much anticipated game that’s going to be delayed on the Wii U, while all other platforms will get it on May 27? The latest trailer welcomes players to the city of Chicago where the game takes place, showing the environment, how the game works, its complex hacking system, and more.

Watch Dogs was originally meant to be released last Fall, then early this year. Ubisoft then settled on the final release date for May 27. But Wii U players will have to wait even longer to get to play the open-world sci-fi action game.

How much longer will Wii U players have to wait? Quite long. According to Ubisoft, Watch Dogs might be released on the Wii U this year. Might. This year. That doesn’t sound too reassuring.

In fact, the constant delays of Watch Dogs on the Wii U, and Ubisoft’s vague commitment to a release date, posed the question we asked earlier this month: is Watch Dogs the last big budget Wii U game?

And since most Wii U owners probably have another console or PC, how many of them are willing to wait for 6+ months to get the Wii U version of Watch Dogs instead of just getting the game on May 27? Hopefully Ubisoft has some great GamePad and Wii U specific features planned for us. Watch Dogs on Wii U better be worthwhile.

I don’t know what are your feelings, but It doesn’t look as good as the first trailers ! Downgraded ? I hope it will end up as a good game … and on Wii U.

    • oontz

      “Downgraded ?”

Yeah the first e3 demo and trailers would’ve been heavily optimized. It seems as they came closer to achieving their final vision they needed to cut back a bit to make it work.

      • Ultrasyd

Indeed. The project was maybe too much ambitious. Early versions of hardware and software must always be considered with caution, not representative of the final product. Wait and see !

        • oontz

          Always

  • God804

I will be skipping this game due to fact as a wii u owner I should not have to wait to play this game when its due to release in may on all the other systems too me this is inexcusable and complete bullshit at its best. Ubisoft pull this stunt with rayman legends only difference with now is that they are releasing on other consoles while making us wait for the wii u version. The wii u is not that bad of a platform where they cannot make a decent game and make use of the gamepads features developers are just lazy as hell and lack creativity they just want to release the same old third party shit on xbox/sony that they know will sell.

    • Ultrasyd

      - I really think that releasing this on the same month as Mario Kart is the main reason, plus the fact that they were so late that they had to make a choice…. knowing that PS4 and Xbox One will account for much more % of total sells. If they have the choice between rushing a game for all platforms, or delaying it and put more efforts where it will sell better (Sony / Microsoft, we all know that), I think it’s legit. I’m pretty sure they don’t wanna delay it more for all platforms because people
would totally lose interest in the game. So yeah, they have to make a
      choice.
Tell me how many people will prefer watch_dogs over Mario Kart, when you
see the previous 3rd party games sells on Wii U, and when you know how many
people play Nintendo only for Nintendo games ? To me, it’s just logic.

      – And maybe they are not totally lying about the Gamepad’s features, who knows. If it displays more than a map, then we can say it needs indeed more development time than other versions, no ?

      – And what about that “architecture of Wii U being so different, if developers can’t make better ports on Wii U, it’s because they don’t take time to learn it, it’s very different from x86″ argument, that you can read ALL DAY LONG here or there ? If they need a bit more time to make a good port, it’s totally fine to me. For once, maybe they are listening to you. How can you say that they don’t try hard enough on Wii U, and at the same time be unhappy when they take more time for Wii U ???

If the game is good, I really don’t mind waiting a bit more. I mean, life is not a race. *I don’t give a fuck if someone who owns a PS4 plays that game before me, while I’m playing Mario Kart*. Really.

      • God804

I understand where you are coming from yet in all reality I dont think mario kart has anything to do with watchdogs .I honestly feel Ubisoft does not really want to release the game for the wii u which is why they dont even have a release date for it. It wont be long before Ubisoft stop support ing the wii u altogether.

        • Ultrasyd

You are sadly right. If they don’t cheat us, and offer something really interesting with the Game Pad, this is our last chance to buy and show them there is a place for such games on Wii U. If the game don’t sell, for whatever reasons, then bye bye Wii U.
I’m pretty sure the game will receive some fix and updates not long after the release. At least, on Wii U, we’ll have all that included (yeah, I’m just trying to find some positive points hehe).

          • God804

I agree and I hope you are right .

        • oontz

I fear the wiiu version will become vapor ware.

          • God804

            Same here

          • oontz

It’s much easier to delay a title for ever, than it is to right out say you’re cancelling it.

          • God804

You are absolutely right and this game would be a perfect fit for the wii u gamepad in terms of the map, weapon arsenal.

  • jjbredesen

I am really excited for this game, and i will buy it on Wii U for only 1 reason and that is to support 3rd party devs that bother to make games for Wii U, yes it has been delayed, but i don’t blame Ubisoft, as they need money. They are still adding futures meaning that they are still working on the PS4/Xbone version that has similar architecture, when they are done with those they can focus on Wii U, so that we don’t get a rushed and inferior version full of bugs.

If all of you bought 3rd party games devs would make money, and would support Wii U, but all you do is complain and don’t buy them, i know its annoying that you get worse versions, but if devs see that they can make money and its worth putting some more effort in to it, that trend will change.

Game looks great and i am sure it will be great.

    • bizzy gie

      Please feature this comment.

    • Chris

I do try to support 3rd party developers, but I don’t like the COD games, racing games, and Watch Dogs is a game play I don’t like so why would I buy them?? I do own and like ZombiU, but I wasn’t going to pay $60.00 for a game that was almost 2 yrs old( there goes that support). I will probably buy AC3 being they dropped the price to $20.00. I am waiting for the new Oddworld game it has a nice price tag. I hope they release it for retail and not just download only. I wont pay more then $8-9 for a game on eshop. As you can see I wont pay more then $30.00 for a new game. I think they are way over priced, and on top of that they want to charge you more money for DLC?!?!?!?! I don’t think so.

      • jjbredesen

I totally understand you, if you don’t want a game don’t buy it, but there are a lot of people that want the game, but does not buy it because it is delayed etc.

I agree that games are overpriced, but the price will not go down unless a lot of copies are sold, people need to make money, that is what the whole industry is about, making money of us.

The quality part is just that if the game is good we will buy it, there are a few indie devs, and people such as Miyamoto and Kojima that care about making art, but for the most part its about money.

        • Nicolas Dorion

Don’t buy games to support third party devs, buy games only if you want to play them.
You don’t have to feel responsible for the games, the third party support or the console. Their job is to make good products and convince you to buy them, not to be rewarded for taking the time to port the game. You’re the client, no a sponsor.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMwgly Mwgly

            THIS.

        • Skelterz

I don’t think that is completely true about those specific devs i mean its true for most other devs these days but those two are a bad example of money grabbers in my opinion. i think the cliffy b who made gears of war is a perfect example he said he didnt want to make any more gears games after number 1 but rolled with it because epic games and microsoft knew they would cash in what a little maggot.

    • Alvaro Castañeda

I completely agree with you. I just see people complaining all the time but do nothing to support 3rd party games (buying games for wii u instead of other platforms). Thats the way it should be. I’m on your side. I’m definitely going to buy this game on wii u.

    • Ultrasyd

Man, that’s totally my philosophy. Things can only get worse if they just keep on complaining and never buy a game because of a missing DLC or a little delay. What is a few months in a man’s life anyway :D
But for watch_dogs, I’ll wait for the reviews before buying … suddenly, I’m not 100% confident. I cancelled my pre-order, not because of the delay, but because I’m just not sure that it’s going to be as great as it looks / looked. There is something in that trailer that annoys me, but I can’t really tell what … I know they were late, I hope they didn’t have to rush and downgrade the game too much despite the delay.
Also for the delay, people should remember that Mario Kart will be out by the end of may, and it’s not a bad idea at all to avoid such a major competitor.
People complain about game’s price, people are all hyped about MK8… how many can afford 2 games in a month ? Who is willing to buy watch_dogs and skip Mario Kart ? Ubisoft are not fool, they know that Wii U players, and Nintendo players more generally, are rather 1st party games buyers.

Btw, about games’ price, just think about that. When it’s a small team (eShop), it means a lot and a lot of time to develop a game. So many hours of coding, etc. For a big game, imagine the number of people working on it, and the budget, sometimes as big as for a movie. And while a movie is only worth 1h30 of your time and tells only 1 story, a good game can last 30h or even 50h, and you can sometimes replay it in a different way. If you pay 14€ for a blue-ray that you will probably watch only once, what’s wrong with paying 50€ for a good game ? As long as it promises more than 6 hours, the ratio money/time is still better than for a movie, that’s how I see that.
If you take in account inflation and other parameters linked to the cost of life, games are not more expensive nowadays.

      • jjbredesen

        Completely agree 100%

    • Magnus Eriksson

Me too, it looks interesting. But did you noticed they have crappified the graphics? Also in gameplay. The last demos looks nothing like it did a year ago.

      • jjbredesen

Yeah, it almost looks as bad as Infamous Second Son!

The reason is because the orginal demo was running on a PC and the new trailers are on PS4 so they have got to cut a lot, no way PS4 will run something as outstanding as the orginal demo! Its not really very powerfull compared to a PC with a GTX 700 series card inside.

I think the PC version will look close to the orginal, people over glorify the power of PS4 and Xbone, saw this coming.

Game still looks pretty ok, when looking at the amount of work that has gone in to its AI side of stuff i think it will be great, graphics are not everything.

        • bizzy gie

Second Son has the best graphics of any game I’ve seen to date.

          • jjbredesen

Its a good looking game, but compared to high end PC games such as Crysis 3 it is by far not the best looking game ;)

          • matthew garcia

Let’s just say it’s the best looking console game

          • jjbredesen

            *One of the best.

          • matthew garcia

One of the best. The order 1886 could surpass it

          • oontz

Keep in mind The Order 1886 is a linear 3rd person action game (like Uncharted). Second Son is a massive open world replica of Seattle. Much easier to make a linear game look better than open world.

          • matthew garcia

Yeah absolutely. The order I’m sure will have more detail cuz of that.

          • bizzy gie

The best. It may not be the best looking game ever made.

However, it is the best looking console game made to date without question.

          • jjbredesen

If realism is what makes a game best, then yes it is one of the best looking console games made and perhaps one of the best, but there are some games coming that will look better.

If we are going to look at it from an artistic point of view there are games that looks far better, its up to what you think looks good.

          • bizzy gie

I’m strictly talking about realism (graphical fidelity, polygons, etc.).

          • jjbredesen

Then it is in the top 10 of all console games, not sure if it is the best i have not tried them all and i don’t own a Xbone or PS4 only play them with friends and only played infamous for about 2 hours. So need to try everything first.

          • bizzy gie

I’ll put it at number 1 since the 8th gen catalogue of games, the best looking console games, is pretty small.

          • oontz

That’s like comparing a porsche to a ferrari. Any high end rig i going to put home consoles to shame. It’s been this way since atari.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah, but he said it was THE best looking game of all games, and we know its not ;)

          • bizzy gie

I disagree. Crysis 3 on high-end PCs still have the same graphical fidelity as the console version.

Just with higher textures and resolutions and smoother frame rates.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah so in other words it looks better and runs better making it graphically better.

          • bizzy gie

I meant that the PC version only looks somewhat better than the console version of Crysis 3.

          • jjbredesen

Agreed, but that still means it looks better just google a comparison.

          • bizzy gie

Best comparison would be a real life one without compression.

          • jjbredesen

True, but you can still see a difference.

          • Superstick98

Wha??? There are way better looking games. Crysis 3? BF4? The Order 1886? The Witcher 3? This game? XD

          • oontz

BF4 has nothing on Second Son’s visuals. I am playing them both now. Second Son is beautiful on a huge HD display. BF is also great but there are many times that the illusion is shattered.

          • bizzy gie

BF4’s graphics are pretty good, but not THAT good. Especially the beta.

            Same with Crysis 3.

The Order: 1886 isn’t out yet.

        • oontz

          One word “Optimization”

      • Ultrasyd

Exacly, this is why I cancelled my pre-order. There are chances that the game turns into … “a wet explosive” as we say in french. Un pétard mouillé.

      • Commander Raichu

you should see the xbox 360/ps3 graphics
        there eww

    • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I have to agree with you for the most part. I too buy 3rd party games to embrace what little we have. Infact I only own 3rd party games on my Wii U for the sole reason none of the first party titles at this time have my interest, and that says a lot about what Nintendo does at the moment with imo poor 1st party titles, except Pikmin which looks great and is great if it wasn’t for the thing that it’s not my kind of game.

The games I have at this moment (no indy titles though): Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Zombi U, Mass Effect 3, Sonic Lost World and Darksiders II, the only first parties I’ll add this year are Smash brothers and Probably Mario Kart 8, other then those X and Bayonetta 2 this year.

But back to topic, the delay for this game is no excuse for not buying it, I agree and feel the same, yet for me it is dependant on a third Factor, whether or not I’ll have a PS4 before the game releases on Wii U. I’ll get a PS4 but I need to save money for it, a game on the other hand I can buy whenever I want limited preferably at 2-3 a month. So that is the only reason for me that I “might” skip it on Wii U.

      • jjbredesen

Yeah that is true, if it is delayed most people will buy the version first available.

I think Ubisoft is working hard to use the gamepad, and it will be a superior version in the gameplay department. If you look at what the game is aiming at with hacking the gamepad will be perfect, not just for map usage but as his “phone”.

        • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I love the idea a lot and I hope they will implement it well. I have a feeling they do though so I’ll wait and see.

        • Ultrasyd

They have this opportunity. Many failed at using the gamepad in an interesting way (even Nintendo). This game seems to be designed for the gampad. If we have faith in the gamepad, we should wait a bit before buying the game.
If, at the end, it appears that the gamepad only shows a map … then get the PS4 version :D At that moment, it will even be less expensive !

          • jjbredesen

Yeah thats true, but of all the devs Ubisoft has shown that they can use the gamepad, just look at Zombi U

          • Ultrasyd

Zombie U and Rayman, yes, quite nice !

          • Chris

True: I love what they used the gamepad in that game.

        • Skelterz

i think they want to make there cash from the other platforms before taking a hit on the wii u version regardless of this superior version bullshit they say if they were that confident of the port they would release it either first or the same time there just lying it dosen’t effect my view of the game though really i never mix games and devs and the business side of things if i like the look of it i’ll grab it i swear i think if more people spent more time playing games rather than talking about them on sites like this maybe the wii u would do a bit better ive been away for a while because ive been chilling and gaming.

          • jjbredesen

Agreed! My problem is i have no new games to play :(

            Waiting for MK8…….

          • Skelterz

just the other day i got dark souls for £4.50 from hmv pre-owned games were 70% off i suggest in a drought look for other games for other systems there’s nothing wrong with it gamers are gamers in truth the next few games i will be buying will be 360 games cause some are quality titles for really cheap example. Halo 4 £5, skyrim £10 pound, GTA 4, £6 Civ Rev £10, i meant they might not be to everyones liking but why not mix it up in a drought like you im also waiting for mario kart 8 but its not going to stop me gaming because i have other systems that’s not a dig to you i know you get it, its the fanboy mentality of other people ive sorta always had 2 systems like n64 and ps1 GC and ps2 ive never had no trouble.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah that is what i have done, but i have not yet bought a PS4 or Xbone because i am still waiting for a must have game on PS4 and Xbone is not out in Norway yet, so i am currently playing on my PC: Mass Effect 3 and TF2 and i am thinking of giving Minecraft another try have not played it for a year.

Also playing a bit of L4D2 and thinking of buying Skyrim and Fallout 3?

          • Skelterz

agree in regards to ps4 and xbox one.

    • matthew garcia

      Your a good man

    • asdfg

I completely agree. More people should think like this.
Instead, we get the Nintendo Fan logic:
“Game is delayed because they want to improve Gamepad features?? Bullshit!1 Why can’t they release it the same day as PS4 and Xbox?? it’s because they want Nintendo to fail they hate Nintendo I won’t buy it now and never fuk u 3rd party”
      – No more 3rd party support because it’s selling like shit –
“Why are 3rd parties leaving the Wii U I bet is because they are conspiring against Nintendo it’s the only reason the Wii U is perfect”

Seriously. If you’re not making an effort to support 3rd party content, don’t be suprised when they don’t support the Wii U.

      • Skelterz

that’s extreme i think a lot of companies might feel threatened by nintendo because of how well they do in general and how long they’ve been around and they don’t go with the crowd they do there own things but generally there’s a lot of respect for nintendo among fans gamers devs even the CEO of xbox has a will u i think so i mean cmon all this conspiracy propaganda is getting silly you ask 100 devs to name 3 games that inspired them to start making games nine times out of ten a ninty game will pop up fact.

        • asdfg

I can’t really understand what you’re trying to say. Mind using some punctuation? And what this have to do with what I said? Was my sarcasm so hard to get?

          • Skelterz

if it was sarcasm it was tricky to pick up on plus there’s tons of people out there leaving comments like that everyday about devs and companies wanting nintendo to fail so i thought i’d set the record straight and the whole punctuation thing you said was really low i don’t feel belittled and i wasn’t trying to make you look stupid with my comment you just sound pretentious the reason i don’t use comma’s and full stops is cause i’ve got tons on most the time lol i’m not going to polish my comments for strangers good day.

          • asdfg

I didn’t say that to belittle you, I have better things to do than make people I don’t know feel bad. I just genuinely couldn’t understand what you said. My apologies if you felt offended.

          • Skelterz

as i said no harm was done.

    • makkan

yeah i agree but its a shame what they did with sniper elite v2 i mean all you could do was only to play the campaign, nothing more. No wonder nobody bought that.

      • Chris

I bought the game and I love the game. I played it 3 times through, and am working on my 4th. I understand what you are talking about though. I don’t care about multi player, online play, or DLC so that part doesn’t bother me. The part that does bother me is I was watching on Youtube some guy going through on his xbox and showing where all the wine bottles and gold bars are at. Then he could pull up some achievement panel. Well I started to wonder where is that on my game???
Then I found out they (Rebellion/505 games) were making the 3rd one, but have no plans for putting it out for the Wii U as of yet.

    • Superstick98

Idk man. I want to support this game on the Wii U, but I feel as if enough people aren’t going to do the same and we end up losing support from Ubisoft altogether. I took that route with Tekken and NFSMW and well, no NFSR on Wii U.. :( Honestly I’m probably just going to get it for Xbox One. I can play it earlier. And By the time this even comes on the U, most of the big games will be out and most Ninty fans will just overlook it. So.. I’m sorry, but I gotta take the safe route. :/

      • jjbredesen

Understandable, that is what most people will do and i feel like Ubi should delay all the versions so the Wii U version will stand a chance…

    • darren evans

You buy a game because you like the look of it, not to support the developers. That is where people become obsessed and end up been disappointed. I had a sad friend who bought an xbox one because he didn’t want to let Microsoft down, most pathetic obsessed thing I ever heard. You are borderline sad and pathetic and quite possibly need to concentrate on your life instead of ‘supporting devs’. Look at cod they have lots of supporters so they don’t put any effort in Because of people like you who will buy regardless. It’s people like you that make games worse, not better.

      • jjbredesen

Now that is not what i am saying!

I do not buy COD games, Battlefield games or any other yearly franchise game.

I am an extremely fussy gamer, and only buy games that i think are good.

I almost only buy games with a Meta score of 8 or higher, and never blindly buy games because everyone else does.

I think Watchdogs is an interesting concept and looks like a good game, and i also have a lot of respect to Ubisoft as a dev, because they make good games, and even AC that is becoming a yearly franchise brings new stuff to the table, but watchdogs is something new, and i think they will do a lot of great stuff with the controller.

My point with the comment is that if we want them to continue to support Wii U we will need to buy the game or give feedback etc.

People seem to not buy the games, and then complain that they are delayed.

I am the type of person that writes long letters to game companies when i am not satisfied.

I have nor bought a single COD game since MW2, and will never buy one again.

I always wait for reviews before buying a game, and if i don’t like what i see i don’t buy.

I was saying that i like how Watchdogs look and that i will buy it, if the reviews are good, and i will also buy it on Wii U so that they will keep supporting Wii U.

Just ask anyone that has been here for a long time about my opinions on companies such as EA, WB, Zynga and Activison and they will all tell you that i hate them.

Devs such as Nintendo, Valve, Rocksteady, Rockstar, Bungie, Bioware etc. i respect and buy there games if they are good.

I consider Bioware a good dev, EA are the ones that forced the DLC etc.

I have not bought one EA game, the only ones of have bought are the Mass Effect games, Battlefield 2 and Need for Speed 3 on PS1.

I do not support DLC, micro transactions etc.

I only support devs i like, not money grabbers.

    • Skelterz

to be fair its not just a 3rd party issue nintendo’s 1st party offerings are also suffering mario 3d world was short of expectation pikmin 3 is a niche title how many people actually got tropical freeze i know i did but i doubt it went and sold out times are hard for nintendo i think the HD development slowed them down which is why i think there really clever for keeping the 3ds underpowered because they make real good money and there comfortable with the hardware people bash the wii u but look at what there doing with there handheld and how they have dominated that market since it arose no one seems to talk about that much.

      • jjbredesen

Yeah i agree, but no point in complaining because if there is one thing i have learned it is that Nintendo does what it think is best for us, not what we think are best for us, so they will not listen…

        • Skelterz

And that is exactly that if more people actually appreciated gaming for what it is instead of picking at devs and companies and just turned and said i enjoy nintendo and sony games then there would be no fanboys and no drought for no one it feels like people don’t know how to enjoy games no more if they stepped out of there fan-bubble then they would see that whilst waiting for mk8 they could pick up say the last of us or fallout for what ever other console they own jeez if the games ain’t there don’t whine get the fuck on with it lol

          • jjbredesen

Yup fanboys make me so frustrated! Why can’t you just play what you enjoy and have fun?

Off to play some Portal 2 ;)

I think the delay has to do with the Wii U version beeing made in Europe instead of being made by the core team in Montréal. It was done that way to save money, not to give a really better experience. I may be wrong, but Wii U is not giving 3rd party lots of return on investment and now we see sign that Ubisoft is caring less and less about the console.

    • http://valid.at val berger

I’d buy it for WiiU too if it’s worth it. Problem is, even if many people here may buy it, it wouldn’t be enough. To really create a success, you need more people than just this group of players that want to support a company or the developer. You need to be appealing to the mass market. Why should people shoose to buy this game on the WiiU instead of PS4? Is it the best version? I doubt so. I might get it on the WiiU because I on the other hand don’t see any crucial benefit in gettin the PS4 version (and because I don’t own a PS4) BUT I am not the typical mainstream player. I will buy it for the WiiU, because I just like the WiiU more and sympathise more with Nintendo. But still, I’m not the typical target group. You aren’t either.

Together we might be a mass, and maybe, just maybe, we might be enough to let the statistics not look as poor as it has been with recent releases. But my guess is, that Ubisoft got a clear sales forecast, measuring the buzz from PS4, XBOne, PS360, WiiU and PC gamers and already got a clear picture where they might really sell stuff and where they won’t. And delaying the WiiU version isn’t a sign that this forecast looked so bright for the WiiU. So I don’t believe, delays really have too much to do with bad sales of these games. In some cases yes. Especially in the launch era of the WiiU, there have been made many mistakes.

For instance EA releasing Mass Effect 3 for a higher price than the complete Trilogy for PS3 without releasing the trilogy on WiiU. Of course it sold bad. At this time, there were slight chances to really change the WiiU target group in the direction of a more mainstream-3rd party-playing audience. But those times have long past, today I’m actually wondering, UbiSoft is still releasing anything like Watch Dogs for WiiU. I don’t really wanna cover these companies, I don’t even like UbiSoft too much, I just understand that sometimes, some things just don’t work out.

  • steveb944

Wait this has online like GTA?! That’s so awesome! I’m so looking forward to this. The only problem is Wii U owners won’t buy so the community will be too small

  • bizzy gie

I watched this video a couple of days ago.

So people see how complex this game is with all the hacking possibilities and that, unlike any other open-world game, every single individual npc walking around has a list information making up that person (name, job, salary, criminal record, etc.) and all people care about are the graphics?

These graphics look very good by the way. On par with Infamous: Second Son.

    • ETeach

I remember the developers talking about how people were comparing it to GTA 5 too. Asking questions like “Can you fly a plane? Can you buy an apartment?”. Seems like people are less interested in getting to do something new, and more interested in doing something they’ve already done :P

    • SkullScience

I doubt the graphics will be anywhere near infamous second son. Analyse the vid, only 1:34 – 1:51 is gameplay and it looks pretty poor.

      • bizzy gie

No it doesn’t. The game isn’t done though. We’ll wait for the final product.

  • Christian Schoff

I’m getting the Wii U version.

    • jjbredesen

Thank you for supporting 3rd party devs on Wii U far to few do :D

      • Christian Schoff

I still play Black Ops 2 now and then.

        • Commander Raichu

          better than ghosts :P

          • Christian Schoff

A thousand times better in my opinion.

    • Commander Raichu

      YEAH thx

  • Rob3008

It’s promising that they’re still at least showing the Wii U logo at the end of the trailer. I’ll actually hold out for the Wii U version provided it’s released within a reasonable timeframe after the other console versions.

  • NatT96™

The Wii I version of Watch_Dogs will probably be there most unique version of the game. The developers are probably pitting a lot of effort into the Wii U game pads untapped abilities. This could be the Wii U’s first successfully selling 3rd party game. As long as it’s released this year, I will find a way to buy it, but honestly if its released too late, I don’t think I will put much effort into purchasing it. Besides that, I think a lot of people should put heart into purchasing this game because, Ubisoft still supports us.

    • Skelterz

its easy for isn’t it to recycle the words of the chosen.

  • Nope.avi

I personally can’t wait for Watch Doge

  • Michael

The reason of why it is delayed is because of their studio in Bucharest is playing around with the gamepad to bring the most useful and the best gaming experience as much as possible.
So, even if it is just a port from the PC version looks all the others, it is the only version they make sure that it has the best gaming experience.

    • Nope.avi

Just a port from the PC version? The PC version will be the best! How is that ‘just’?

      • Michael

Because it is downgraded. All games that are released for both PC and consoles are ports from the PC version. What’s sad about this is that the game will not be graphically optimized for the Wii U, because of the port thing.

    • Ultrasyd

That might just be a trick to get more people working on other versions, and we’ll maybe end up with just a stupid map on the GamePad. I really hope it’s not the case, because they have the opportunity to make a great use of the GamePad here.
But I write it once again : people complain that Wii U ports are rushed. They say that if Wii U ports are just equal or worse than PS3/XBOX 360, it’s because devs are lazy and don’t take time to learn how to handle the Wii U’s architecture, so “different from other consoles”. Maybe they are really optimizing for Wii U on this game. We’ll see !
A delay is annoying if people own several consoles and buy an other version before Wii U. But if you really want to play it on Wii U with the Game Pad, I think it’s worth waiting.

      • Michael

What I’ve heard is that they are “excited” about the Wii U version and they really want to come up with great stuff for the gamepad.
        Why, we might ask?
Well, the gamepad is the only gaming control that can be reassembled as a smartphone interface.

I can tell you this, I’m excited! But it is sad that this version has to wait for such long time.

    • oontz

But it’s a double edged sword… having to constantly look down at the gamepad is going to take you out of the experience. Especially if you need to use your phone while on the run to hack items around you, if it doesn’t display on the tv then you’ll need to stop running (albeit for a moment) to access and use the gamepad. It’ll be interesting to see if they can make it work.

  • SkullScience

Sorry, I am getting less interested in this the more I see. Analyse the vid closely. The good stuff is none-gameplay. What you actually see of gameplay, 1:34 – 1:51, looks bland, flat and, well, kind of like Assassins Creed. I firmly believe something went wrong during development of this title, hence the delay back in November 2013, now it looks like it is on an older engine, and even then not that good. The graphics look ok during cut scenes, but the actual gameplay just looks average. Too much ‘representative’ footage. A huge downgrade. I used to be a fan of UBI but this seems, well, dishonest.

    • Ultrasyd

Yes, I agree with you. But it’s not too late, they can fix many things before may. There is definitly soemthing wrong with the graphics, compared to what they showed before. Maybe this project was too much ambitious.

  • Bob Charlie

This isn’t going to come to Wii U, and if it does it will release a year from now.
If it does happen to release late this year does Ubisoft really think Watchdogs will be able to compete with Bayo 2, Mario Kart, Smash, Hyrule Warriors, X, Sonic Boom…?

Ubi will drop Watchdogs around Smash’s release, and then blame Nintendo fans for WD’s low sales.

    • hhfhfhf

your a stupid fuck ,you cant read its coming to the Wii u…..

      • Bob Charlie

The article does not confirm that it is coming to the Wii U; it “might” come out later this year is all that is stated.
It took Nintendo 6 months to make Wind Waker HD, do you really think that it’s going to take Ubisoft the better half of the year just to add some Gamepad features to Watch Dogs? Don’t be naive, Ubisoft is waiting to see how well it sells on the other systems before it spends money to release it on the Wii U.

  • darkcreap

I will definitely buy this game for WiiU. As I did buy AC3, AC4, ZombiU and Rayman Legends from Ubisoft. If they make games I like, I buy them. Too bad 3rd party devs see little support on the WiiU. I hope indie devs have better luck.

  • ben

For me the graphics are fine, the whole concept of hacking is boring.

  • Watching Dog

Hey everyone! Please sign my Petition for Watch Dogs, thanks! :) https://www.change.org/petitions/ubisoft-option-to-censor-mature-content

    • jjbredesen

Sorry but its impossible because there are parts of the main plot the involves you entering strip clubs etc. and who would not want it on?

Everyone over 18 that legally buys the game (and all of us teens :P) will want it on.

      • Rinslowe

Exactly, not the kind of immersion disconnect a game like this needs…

    • asdfg

Why would I want to censor it? I mean, what’s so wrong with mature content, anyway? As long it’s not there just for the sake of being there.

  • JohnTPhillips

The games I have at this moment (no indy titles though): Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Zombi U, Mass Effect 3, Sonic Lost World and Darksiders II, the only first parties I’ll add this year are Smash brothers and Probably Mario Kart 8, other then those X and Bayonetta 2 this year. http://qr.net/rtcX

  • Rinslowe

“Another player lurking inside your game”… interest piqued.

I think definitely PC first. Then if the Wii U version has solid gamepad support then I’ll be playing my Wii U buddies online as well…

Still a lot of potential in this game IMO.

  • jrob23

I think this game will play nothing like these trailers and will be AC with hacking. I just don’t get excited when I see these trailers. I will probably pass. But if you own a PS4, you kinda have to buy this game as there isn’t much else. I would not wait to buy it for the Wii U if I was anticipating this. Why would you? In hopes that they give a fuck and make the gamepad use good? Just get it on the more powerful machine when it releases. You know that will be the best looking console version and you get it on time. When it comes out for the Wii U (I am guessing fall to xmas time) it will cost full price while the others will be sub $30.

  • hhfhfhf

this game looks like nothing special ,I really don’t care when it comes out because hundreds of games are coming out on the Wii u, when this game comes it comes….

  • C.S. Bailey

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again; These companies have no problems spending a few mil to make a sub par Wii U game or port, then citing sales as the reason they don’t make games for the system. It may seem ridiculous at first, but look at it from a numbers perspective. If you can prove on paper that your games “don”t sell” on a system (regardless of how many systems that are actually in gamer’s hands), you have a valid argument to investors on why you don’t make games for said system.

EA could have made a killing by offering the ME trilogy on the Wii U, even of they only added extra gamepad support for the last game. They chose to only port the third, and blame sales. Why in the hell would I buy 1 game when I could have all three in the series for a cheaper price? That question doesn’t matter if you’re just looking at numbers, and that “loss” alleviates them from having to spend more money to port a popular franchise to the system. Win for them. loss for gamers.
I know I’m just ranting/rambling, but it’s hard to watch any system not given a fair chance. I don’t see that many developers saying anew game won’t be available on the PS Vita before they even make a real announcement. Even the Bioshock game hasn’t been officially cancelled by now.

  • Arthur Zennig

I will wait for WiiU version. Have high hopes of better gameplay through gamepad, just like it happened with AC3, DeusEX, Rayman Legends, CODBO2,CODG, BATMAN and Lego Games. Yes, i tried those others with some other plattforms, there is no substantial visual gain (like heavily advertised in media) and feels like the gamepad wins. I will stick with every wii u version of multiplattforms.

  • Paladinrja

Wii U support is only dwindling because development doesn’t really grasp the concept of expanded instruction yet. Which means up until now, third parties have relied on machine translation in IBM ISA’s to carry the work and its done it job well.

Nevertheless it is still x86 processing and Wii U doesn’t have main RAM to play ball. This form of processing is called ‘Legacy x86′ and IBM processors do the job extremely well, but it is still x86 and you need RAM as thats the way it processes.

That said, the biggest gripe in the wider IT industry (of which games development is only a small part of) is the wasted computation resources as programmers are constantly putting bite-size chunks of instruction, using main memory to act as a holding bay while the processor schedules them. We are no longer doing anything but chasing our tails as we plonk on more CU’s requiring more memory.

Enter IBM’s embedded DRAM technology on silicon. Now the IT ISA providers are firmly on the same path. Intels new MCP’s Broadell (followed by Skylark) are embedded RAM for larger instruction inclusive and thats where x86 development will sit. These new processors are legacy x86 tolerant, yet the physical limitation will be the lack of eDRAM facility.

So as the industry transitions to new implimentation of ISA’s. One is recalled to Reggies comments leaving the E3 show floor in 2012 that Nintendo was readying itself for its new platform in 2016. Without reservation, this statement corroberates the industry move to embedded memory on silicon. So WiiU is well placed there and unless AMD can assure competitors that it can carry legacy x86 by itself, people should get ready for a new PS and possibly XBOX as well.

Development on Wii U now will give software studio’s an edge on Nintendo’s upencomming console as its already facilitating the future of gaming. No doubt Wii U games now will be supported on Nintendo’s new aparatus as well thus increasing their longevity.

The fact still remains, much of the gaming ndustry will need to install the idea of working with all inclusive instruction architectures, if they wish to remain relevant and supported going into the future.

So enjoy your Wii U’s without concern.

  • wii u is awsome

Anyone notice the demonic zombies I found then looked up wii u on n4g and someone captured a screen shot

  • xTrucho3

I think that once Watch_Dogs is release for the Wii U, many of the Wii U owners aren’t going to buy the game and all the potential Ubisoft put in will be for nothing. I have the PS4 but I’ll buy it for the Wii U just for the “gamepad” expierence. Plus I can’t afford to buy Watch_Dogs and Mario Kart 8 on the same week, I got bills to pay and a kid to feed.

  • 00EpicGamer00

Man, I cannot wait for this game! Can’t wait to play this May 27th, on my PS3. :)
Sorry Wii U. If it was coming for you at the same time as the others, than yeah, I’d get it on Wii U. But, since its been delayed, I’m not waiting 6+ months for the same game.

Oh yeah, and uhh, people? According to gamefly, Watch Dogs for Wii U will release “12/31/14.”….That’s literally 7 months.

    • Petri

Last day of the year screams of placeholder.
There is no gamers going out buying games at the new years eve.
As I do not have the time to play games as much as I used to, I can wait.
But if it does not come out before its -50% off (or -33% off, if its a “must have”) on Steam, that will be a one sale less for Wii U.
That usually takes 3 months, if the game is not selling too well, or 6 months, even if the game is selling.

      • 00EpicGamer00

Yeah, you have a point. It most likely is a placeholder date. But, then again, there’s no significant proof that it’s not either. It could go either way. But, the one thing I do know concerning this situation is the Wii U version will, sadly, sell way less than the other versions. I really want the Wii U to succeed but these delays are not helping in any way. I really hope at E3 the Wii U will finally get it’s turn around and sell lots of units. Like the 3DS. I believe this year’s E3 is Nintendo’s last chance to make the Wii U relevant in the eyes of the consumers.

  • nexxus6

I will be buying this game on launch day for the WiiU. That is if there is a WiiU launch.

  • Gamerrr72

I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. I hope the Wii U version is great with some exclusive gamepad features. I can understand the Wii U delay, I feel it’s because of MK8 launching around the same time, which would hurt sales for both games. Speaking for myself, I couldn’t buy both games and would have to choose.

  • palomino blue

I’ll be playing Mario Kart at the end of May. I’ll be here waiting when they’re ready to release this for Wii U. The game won’t be any less fun 6 months later. Just don’t cancel the Wii U release.

  • wiimenonowiiu

Carring is sharing sharing is carring …….. i see this add for ps4 all the time im getting it for the wiiu but nes really needs to promote games like this i dont see any adds for wii u

  • Dark-Link73

I have a decent PC and the only games I get for it are RTS games (Starcraft being my favorite RTS). All the rest of my games are for consoles. So to answer the question: Yes! I’m waiting to buy this on Wii U.

Dear Ubisoft, don’t forget to complain when the WiiU version doesn’t sell as well as you had hoped by the time you release it a year after all the other versions.
