Disney Infinity 2.0 is bringing the Marvel Super Heroes

With Disney’s acquisition of Marvel, we knew it wouldn’t be long before we began seeing the iconic super heroes in some of their properties. A new trailer for Disney Infinity 2.0 was released today, revealing that several popular Marvel superheroes will be joining the roster this time around, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. This pretty much plays off the popularity of The Avengers as of late.

Other figures will be announced later this year. New features the game is introducing is the ability for new and old characters to reach level 20, as well as a new upgrade tree that allows players to choose how their character will progress. The starter kit for Disney Infinity 2.0 will include three figurines, the Avenger’s playset piece, and a pair of Toy Box game discs.

Two new genres have been added tot he Toy Box games as well, including tower defense and dungeon crawlers. Did you pick up Disney Infinity last year? Will you be augmenting your collection with the new toys this year? Disney Infinity will be available for Wii U, as well as Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

They can do whatever the heck they want with Disney Infinity, but please Disney, don’t put Marvel in Kingdom Hearts.

Most importantly, this won’t be on Wii, only Wii U. I think that’s a huge win for the Wii U — if current Wii owners want this, they’ll need to upgrade & that’s good news for the U.

More games like this and Skylanders need to skip Wii. Maybe it’s time Nintendo gets their own game like this that expands as new franchises are released. After all they have tons of IPs and characters as well as the NFC right on the gamepad. It could have cards/discs or figures – and let consumers decide which they want!

What would be better is if Nintendo teamed up with Disney for a Disney Infinity bundle with a golden figure bundled with it. Just for more appeal. I would pay for a Dinfinity Bundle.

I read Marvel and got overly excited for nothing. Shame.

As much as I think the buying of characters is a money grabbing scheme at least Disney is allowing the use of current characters people have bought in the new game. Every generation of Skylanders requires a new portal and a new set of characters.

because each generation has new innovations. And the new portals are backwards compatible. The only reason they make you buy a new one is because you literally need it. The older portals didn’t have the tech to do SWAP Force. And I sold my giants portal and got 20 bucks, so it’s like I didn’t really pay for it in the end.

Also, Giants could use the SSA portal

I honestly don’t get the appeal of these kind of games. You basically have to buy several $10 – $13 toys just to unlock content. It’s like DLC gone bad.

I feel the same way. I’m a huge Disney fan, but I don’t support this business model at all. If you have a ton of money to blow on video games I guess Disney Infinity could be a great if you invested $200+ into it. But judging from reviews, the basic game, which is already more expensive than most games, feels incomplete and empty.

    Disney is genius…

Will I need to buy anything else other than new toys? Just got the game for my kid’s Wii U, and it gets played every day.

Anyone from the UK looking to buy a year of luigi coin for £20.00.

  • andrewjcole

I loved Disney Infinity, but I really don’t want to buy a whole nother starter pack for 80 or so bucks. I already have the first game. All I need is the new figures and the game itself.
