Mario Kart 8: Sunshine Airport preview [VIDEO]

Noted YouTube account GameXplain has taken the time to stitch together the preview footage from Mario Kart 8’s Sunshine Airport to give us an idea of what the track will play like. It’s a good look at what you can expect to see when the game launches on May 30, even if it is pieced together from several different takes of footage. Make sure you turn the video quality up as high as you can so you can see just how great these tracks look.

Will you be picking up Mario Kart 8 when it launches?

Super Mario Sunshine Wii U confirmed!!!!

    • Jason

I really want to play that game. Hopefully the GameCube VC comes out this year.

      • Donaald

Me too, but the realistic part of me says it won’t happen

    • DragonSilths

      Nope.

  • Pinky Peach

This game is so beautiful that even my mother, which doesn’t like videogames in the slightest and think they are a waste of time, got very impressed by this game, she even didn’t know what to tell me, she got speechless by this game.
    Nintendo magic.

    • Mario

Once someone tastes a bit of that Nintendo magic, there is almost no going back.

      • Jason

Except for those people who think they’re “adult” and decide not to play Nintendo games anymore. [rolls eyes]

        • Daniel Gonzalez

I decided to stop playing most Nintendo games because I naturally grew out of them. People’s tastes change over time, and that was the case for me. At my age, I prefer branching out to new experiences. Nintendo games were a fun one, but I’m in no hurry to get back to them. I do roll my eyes to those who worry about people who aren’t cuckoo for Nintendopuffs. ;P

          • Shane Michaels

Playing different genres and platforms are fine. Not playing Nintendo, However…

          • lonewolf

            How old are you?

          • Daniel Gonzalez
          • lonewolf

            Hahah :D

          • Rinslowe

            Had to upvote this one.
Classic. Makes a lot of sense too…

          • Jason

I don’t really see how you can “grow out” of Nintendo games. Most Nintendo games are not geared specifically towards kids, they’re for everyone, they have games like Metroid and Fire Emblem is is geared to older people.

And I don’t mind people who don’t like Nintendo, I mind people who don’t like Nintendo, because they think it’s for kids.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s not that hard to grow out of anything. Just because it’s for everyone, doesn’t mean that people won’t lose interest and move on to new experiences. I did love Nintendo growing up, but not all of us will continue down that path. It’s not to say I won’t buy anything Nintendo again, it’s just not a top priority on my list.

Well technically, it is geared at kids. If you say it’s for everyone, that includes kids, right? I get what you mean, but I just had to say it. I never grew out of Nintendo because I felt they were for kids, I just had no desire to play them anymore. To this day, I have friends my age that still love Nintendo, and I have no problem with it. We all have our own tastes.

          • Mario Chaparro

Im curious… you said you don´t play Nintendo games, but you still leave comments in every note on a page that´s named “wiiudaily.com”… why is that?

          • Daniel Gonzalez
          • Mario

You monster! (Just kidding! That image looks funny though).

          • matt

            Envy brings u here…….

          • InterTreble

He passes all the day writing stupid things here. No time for playing. No time to have fun. What a poor life, indeed! ;)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t see what I would envy? Does envy bring you to my comment? Perhaps you are envious of my independent nature and don’t follow into the fanboyism on this site. ;)

          • matt

Envy doesnt bring me to ur posts I’m a Nintendo gamer came on here a few months bk seen your comments and thought what a idiot…..

          • InterTreble

Simply because he’s a childish silly hater. We ALL know! ;)

          • matt

Listen kids play COD online i hear them on voice chat and to be honest it’s mainly kids that play Sony’s console in my eyes,Nintendo cater to everyone end of…….

Also Nintendo are publishing lots more mature games this gen and expect that to carry on,Sony are closingstudios down Nintendo are building new ones should give you an idea of whats going on.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Sounds like you’re refering to Microsoft than Sony with COD. Sony doesn’t have to cater to everyone, that’s not the market they’re targeting. Plus, when did I say it was such a horrible thing for Nintendo to cater to a wide market? Doesn’t mean I have to enjoy all their products, or at all. Sounds to me like damage control on your end due to an opinion you don’t want to hear. ;P

“Also Nintendo are publishing lots more mature games this gen and expect
that to carry on,Sony are closingstudios down Nintendo are building new
ones should give you an idea of whats going on.”

I suppose you think Sony is going under? Good luck with that thought. Your grasping for straws routine is noted. ;P

          • Rinslowe

Yeah, poor choice of words from Gonzalez. You don’t grow out of games that are better enjoyed as an adult… For the fun factor, the appreciation of entertainment for entertainments sake and and of course nostalgia.
If the guy doesn’t like Nintendo’s games then I don’t see any issues there. We all have our own preferences. But the reasons given are weak IMO…

          • matt

Nintendo is for real gamers end of sony games chug along at 25fps well up until ps4 so no sony gamer can claim to be hardcore SORRY…….Ask Platinum games about Nintendo’s input to Bayonetta2’s gameplay…..yes Nintendo improved a hardcore game just like they did bk in the day on all 3rd party games on their console ie SNES gold seal of approval.

And now Nintendo have power to play with expect amazing looking games as their develoment cycles are more realistic and actually allow the devs to really polish gameplay/graphics.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

“And now Nintendo have power to play with expect amazing looking games as
their develoment cycles are more realistic and actually allow the devs
            to really polish gameplay/graphics.”

While being totally unprepared for HD development and still having a hard time getting games done in a proper time frame. I suppose that’s fine since they have a strong third party lineup….oh wait. If you think waiting until winter for Super Smash Bros is realistic development cycles, it’s no wonder no one is buying a Wii U. Gamers are sure wiser this gen than the last. ;P

          • matt

Listen u tit WiiU has 563.2GB bandwidth ram enough said has a custom E6760 with edram and a tri core cpu that has edram cache out of order and a main core thats as powerful as 4 ps4 cores go check yourself and stop pretending the ps4 is powerful when i know 4 people who sold their ps4’s because they weren’t impressed ????

            ps4 has 178GB
            Xbox1 has 102GB
            WiiU has 563.2GB at minimum…..

          • https://soundcloud.com/rauschenmaschine Kristian Kouvo

So what do you play novadays? Shooter games on PS4? If that’s grown up, I’ll rather stay “as a kid”.

        • Mario

          Hey! I said “almost”. Didn’t I?

        • Zach Cruz

Most Adult’s I know are actually the ones playing Nintendo. Its because we know whatsup! Gave us a great childhood and still continuing to do so even today!

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Interesting. Had the magic since my childhood, and I’m fine not going back anytime soon. Nintendo isn’t very good at practicing the dark arts if I can resist so easily. ;P

    • FIreproof_actual

eh…this game looks good but nothing compared to some of the next gen titles out there…Infamous 2, TitanFall, The Witcher 3

      • DragonSilths

Titanfall? A game that is 792p and like 30-40fps? Not to mention if you look at the textures up close they look HORRIBLE. Nice try. And there are no “Next Gen Titles” you mean current gen. Infamous looks nice and all, and The Witcher 3 is meh. PS4 is better at getting “Realistic” graphics, But Mario Kart 8 is at least 1080p and 60fps…

        • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

          Totally agree.

        • greengecko007

          “The Witcher 3 is meh”

What were you looking at, because it certainly wasn’t this…

          • Mithiragi

            Damn boy! Looks hot!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think DragonSilths is just a grumpy guy that can’t stand the industry today. It’s either you adapt, or move on. It isn’t going back to the past.

          • DragonSilths

            Ha, coming from you.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep. I don’t get grouchy over news or the way the industry is today. I accept it, and if I didn’t, I certainly wouldn’t be playing games. You come off as an unhappy individual. You prove my point by taking offense to it. ;P

          • DragonSilths

I don’t deny my feelings. I speak my mind whether its me being grouchy or not.

          • Greg Lanciotti

hey man, i admire you’re jaded view of nintendo. For I am in the same boat. I pretty much gave up on Nintendo. There’s almost no way that they will survive. But I just want to know. Why do you always come to this site and post so much if you really don’t like nintendo?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Never said I don’t like Nintendo, but simply don’t like their poor view of the market and their stubborn ways. Besides, if a Nintendo and even a Microsoft fan can hang around Sony websites, why can’t I? Not really my problem if posters are going to take my comments to heart. Perhaps they should simply move along.

          • Greg Lanciotti

k yeah, you need some help.

          • greengecko007

If he doesn’t like it he just doesn’t like it. I can’t blame him for that as I wouldn’t want anyone to diss me for my preferences either. What we have here though is a grade A misunderstanding. DragonSilths definitely could have worded his comment better, but I don’t hold that against him either.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Certainly could have. If he doesn’t like certain games, that’s cool, but at least a reason certainly suffices.

          • matt

            You wont get,Bayonetta2,X,Mariokart8,Fast racing neo 8k textures,S.T.E.A.M.,Smash4,Zelda wiiu,ect on ps4 or xbox1 sorry…….

Oh Mariokart8 textures are the best so far from ps4,xbox1,wiiu.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            “You wont get,Bayonetta2,X,Mariokart8,Fast racing neo 8k textures,S.T.E.A.M.,Smash4,Zelda wiiu,ect on ps4 or xbox1 sorry…….

Oh Mariokart8 textures are the best so far from ps4,xbox1,wiiu.”

Thank you for your opinion. Though, who said I wanted those games on the PS4? Mario Kart is about the only game that is remotely interesting, but I can wait on it a year or two from now. Not sure what you were trying to prove there, other than grasping for straws seems to be a method of choice when irritated. ;P

          • matt

Here read metacritic reviews the wiiu is kicking ps4’s ass…..not to mention 10 times as many games kid….

            http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/wii-u?sort=desc&view=condensed

All the games i listed are finely crafted games at full HD unlike ps4 exclusives.

          • DragonSilths

I’m not talking graphics of it, I mean as a game it has no interest for me. I’m not impressed and don’t give a hoot for it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What games do interest you from all the respective platforms?

          • DragonSilths

Halo from Xbox…before when it was Bungie, 343issues killed Halo. So nothing left on the Xbox side interests me. On the PS4 side, Batman Arkham Knight, and Destiny, but those are both Multiplats. As for exclusives, if a Spyro or Crash Bandicoot game or Twisted Metal shows up then I will be interested in that, other then that nothing. On the Wii U side, Zelda HD is what I am most excited for. Also MK8, Smash, X, and Fire Emblem X SMT. Course I want a Starfox over all those.

          • greengecko007

I’m perfectly fine with you not being interested in The Witcher 3, as I understand that everyone has their own personal tastes, but from the context of your original comment, and the topic being discussed being graphics, it looked like your “meh” was a response to the graphics.

          • Rinslowe

Witcher 3 has insane level of detail… I think that should be a given at this point in time…
But like Titan Fall, I don’t know any serious gamers that would want to choose a console version if they had a choice…

The thing I will give to Nintendo are that with their first party titles, they’re taking on HD visuals in a way that even the majority of last gen titles didn’t hit so accurately. The art style seems perfectly suited to what the Wii U can pull and 1080p 60fps for Kart is impressive nonetheless.
I would much rather play something with robust models and vibrant textures in HD than realistic graphics that still need a few generations to really get going.
In Sony’s defence, like with the majority of their exclusive content and first party titles, they wow more so with great lighting and effects than gritty realism. This is also true for Infamous SS on PS4 – very impressive game from an effects and lighting perspective. Halo on Xbox, 360 IMO, was visually more appealing because of this same reason. Not trying to be realistic per se, but real enough – with more of a focus on effects.
Even the best PC has to offer, still has a way to go I reckon, before realism is worth getting excited about.

But titles like the Witcher 3 are a step in the right direction on that front…

          • Diaz

I don’t know if its just me but I honestly see no difference in the graphics of this generation and the last.

          • greengecko007

There’s not a hug difference yet in terms of just visual appeal, but that’s a normal thing between a transition between generations. The biggest difference now is in the complexity and size of games that are possible now.

        • Mithiragi

Titanfall runs way better on the PC than on the Failbox One, as you might already know.

          • DragonSilths

Runs better when talking fps yes. But the textures are still shit.

          • Mithiragi

Game’s not bad though. It was just overhyped.

          • Rinslowe

            Naturally…

          • Mithiragi

            Yep, without a doubt.

          • Rich Garriques

it runs at 1080p 60fps which is the same as mk 8

          • Mithiragi

Not on the Failbox One, but on the PC it does.

        • JamesJose

I must say that this game looks beautiful. However, I insist that people should stop caring about graphics so much, I mean, people (mostly new gamers) are forgetting about the real reason why a game is good, which is the gameplay. There are people who play PS4 or PC shooters (Because that’s the only thing they play) blinded by the “realism” of the graphics but they don’t have any idea of what they are doing. Real gamers play a game to have fun either alone or with friends, without caring about the looks of it. I’ll buy this Mario kart sequel for the same reason I bought it’s predecessors, to have fun with myself and with some friends.

        • Zackary Bruley

Dragon, you are no better then Flreproof. Just go get a Wii U if you do not own one. and play beautiful things like MK8, Bayo 2 and SSB4.

          • DragonSilths

I have had a Wii U since launch thank you very much. I have been a Nintendo loyalist almost to the point of being a Nintendo fanboy for the past 18 years, I just don’t put up with Nintendo’s shit they have started from the past 2 years.

          • https://soundcloud.com/rauschenmaschine Kristian Kouvo

For the record it took NES two years until people recognized it – and the rest is history. Also DS and 3DS had slow starts – now they sell like hot cakes. So give a break for Wii U, OK?

          • DragonSilths

Wii U cant be saved. Nintendo has little to no interest in it. They don’t listen to the fans, the Wii U is a proper name, it stands for We (Nintendo) Vs U (Gamers) There is no working together anymore.

          • https://soundcloud.com/rauschenmaschine Kristian Kouvo

“Nintendo has little to no interest in it” is total bs. As example Mario Kart 8 is one of their most ambitious piece of coding yet – and we still haven’t seen what the Zelda will be. Nintendo is working their asses off to produce the best games. So am gonna pretty much ignore what you just said, OK.

          • DragonSilths

That’s fine, do what you wish. But for example when Reggie said Petitions and such don’t effect Nintendo, and when we say we want Starfox and instead Iwata says sorry…cant give you that but what I can do is a brand new….CHIBI ROBO!!! Nintendo doesn’t give a damn about the fans. Just cause they work their ass off on MK8 doesn’t have anything to to with the fans. They will work their ass off on any game THEY CHOSE TO MAKE. The problem is they have a plan written in stone for what games they make and it wont ever change.

          • https://soundcloud.com/rauschenmaschine Kristian Kouvo

That doesn’t match with the fact that Nintendo has (as example) updated the Wii U firmware several times according to user feedback. But you are right with Starfox example. Seems they really don’t want to make it (yet, at least).

          • DragonSilths

Yeah system updates that are decent. But until we get a system update that does something like add’s party chat lol.

        • Donaald

I agree except for the Witcher 3 statement

        • oontz

Infamous is beautiful but can’t really compare it to kart they are different art directions.

      • Zackary Bruley

        No, just no.

      • Rich Garriques

k titanfall dont make me laugh and infamous 2 is one player so are titanfall and witcher 3 does not compare to mario kart one bit.

      • https://soundcloud.com/rauschenmaschine Kristian Kouvo

You gotta see this IRL so you’ll know what you’re talking about. Same goes e.g. for Sonic Lost World. In YouTube you can’t see the smoothness, the sharpness or the framerate. So judging by these videos means nothing. You gotta experience it for real first, then judge it.

    • Rinslowe

If you wake up in the morning and find that half the cups have been magically finished already. You know where to look…

  • Magnus Eriksson

Looks ok I guess. Sad about the framedrop issues though. Maybe it would be wise to downscale it to 480p instead?

    • LukeMM95

Framerate issues? The game is running at 60fps but the Youtube video is fixed at 30.

    • FIreproof_actual

      ??

    • DragonSilths

Its 1080p and 60fps, nice try.

    • Donaald

      ..

    • Donaald

      • Mario

        Donaald, he’s just being sarcastic.

        • Donaald

          But I’m not.

          • Mario

            Ok…

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Naturally, people took the bait and responded like you’d expect them to. Good job. ;P

    • Shane Michaels

Yeah, Xbox One could run this soooo much better. Lots of 720 and 30fps, with a nice bit of graphical ruggedness. Heck, is this Wii U or Atari Snes Betamix Minnie bill?
That sentence got away from me…

      • Zackary Bruley

        that was awesome… O_O!

        • Shane Michaels

Thank you for being my admirer. I feel appreciated.

    • Zanzama

People keep falling for Magnus’ obvious trolling as if it’s their first day on the internet…

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        I find it amusing.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Nah, 480p is too much. Perhaps 320×240 would suffice.

      • Mithiragi

        1X1

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Would that even be viewable? Lol. That’d be quite a tiny screen.

          • Mithiragi

Yeah, I betcha the fanboys would even defend Nintendo if they did that.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

“You’re just jealous because Nintendo innovates! Sucks for you if you can’t see 1×1 resolution. Loser!”

            Ahem…

          • Mithiragi
          • Daniel Gonzalez

Hahaha. That’s when I sit back with popcorn on hand, and enjoy reading the angry comments. It baffles me that fanboys still fall for the simple trolling methods.

          • Mithiragi

Exactly. It’s just video games and some people react as if someone f%&$*d their girl…anally.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True. 1 out of 10 of them you’re lucky to get a proper discussion without them going off.

          • Mithiragi

            .00000000009% chance on Miiverse.

          • Mithiragi

Glad there’s reasonable people like you and Magnus here. There’s a few others but I forget their names.

          • oontz

Hey some girls really like that.

          • Mithiragi

I know. Some girls love it. ;) I meant some guys here would react as if someone fucked their girlfriend. Doesn’t have to be anal. Could be oral or vaginal as well. ;)

          • Magnus Eriksson

All girls love it. But not always though :)

          • Mithiragi

Gotta go slow first though. Then when she’s comfortable, go balls deep. ;)

          • Rinslowe

            You enjoy reading angry comments?
            lol.

I find it sad that some people get their rocks off by coming on to a website and intentionally trying to instigate a fight with others. Their parents must be so proud.

          • Rinslowe

They tend to be the most vocal as well. Crying foul about everything people say to them, all while enjoying others misfortunes. But I’m certainly guilty of disliking these types of people with extreme prejudice…
I just wish we could all focus more on the games and not so much what the fanboys or anti-fanboys are doing/ thinking etc…
            Wouldn’t that be something.

  • sharlo galmo

Not next gen did they say, EA please be a better programmer, cause on my eyes this is nextgen, i never ever seen those kind of graphics before, if someone can tell me wich game got those kind of graphics, i want to see that game!

  • Josiah Parsons

I love how the karts drive like they have suspension instead of driving completely flat. Also, it looks like they fixed the drifting. Can’t wait! Pre-ordering as soon as possible.

It’s getting harder and harder not to watch these videos.

    • FutureFox

      Such is their evil plan.

    • Zackary Bruley

I was thinking the same thing.

  • Zach Cruz

“Will you be picking up Mario Kart 8 when it launches?” lol as if this is really a question.

    • Jackson Cota

I was sooo happy when I got to play this game a few days ago it looks A LOT
better than this footage. Just saying that it looks SOO awesome! =3

      • Zach Cruz

yeah its hard to grasp the visual aspect especially on games on running 60fps over a stream. If they did was Sony did and released a video we could download then view then we would see how it would actually play… although I wanna play!!! Just one more month… and some days…. meh…

  • TheWichi

What everybody should be seeing is the IGN 60fps montage! it looks incredible in HD!
    http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/04/03/mario-kart-8-60-fps-montage

    • Daniel Carvalho

It does indeed look amazing, but the choice of BGM was pretty lame for a Mario Kart game…

Can’t wait to actually play it on TV!

  • Mithiragi

Super Mario Sunshine 2 confirmed! ;)

  • cool1706

See u on the tracks may 30 :)

  • kali

Was going to pick this up until i found out No Voice Chat. Atleast give us the option of in game chat with friends wtf nintendo

    • Zackary Bruley

You’re still going to buy it. You want voice chat, get a phone. Besides, if you played MK7 at all, you find that you get paired with people from all over the world. How will voice chat work cost effectively and not piss people off.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s a good point. It wouldn’t have hurt to add voice chat to the game. I do enjoy a good conversation while playing my games. Just as I use Skype when gaming online for PC.

        • Rinslowe

Voice chat in a racing game like Kart? There’s already a lot of audio going on with all the tricks, power ups and weapons etc…
Unlike a simulator which I actually think voice chat is a good idea, I don’t think Kart skips any beats without it.

          • oontz

Could you imagine playing kart in your living room with 4 friends and no one is talking? No because that’d be silly. It’s natural to want to laugh and chat with people you’ re gaming with even online. They should have at least provided the option.

          • Rinslowe

I’m certain you’ve experienced voice chat before right? Of course you have… I’m also certain that you’ve had friends over for local mulitplayer at some point as well???

So are you really trying to compare to two?? From a technical point of view there’s no comparison. And speaking with people in the same room has no technical limitations to interfere with the sound being shared, obviously. Which is why I mentioned simulations which have more room to breath in the regard.

In a literal sense it’s black and white…

Again, I personally don’t believe Kart misses anything by not including voice chat, in all seriousness. If I did, I’d be agreeing with you.
I’m not one of those, Nintendo can do no wrong types…

          • oontz

“So are you really trying to compare to two??”

Yes, right now I can’t have my friends over to game AT MY HOUSE, but I can have all of them on a party chat and game together and laugh and make fun of each other. Just as if we are in the same room. Voice chat allows that human touch of interaction.

Anyways it should have at least been an option, weather you’d use it or not.

Voice chat will never TAKE AWAY from a multiplayer game in my opinion. It’ll only add to it.

          • Rinslowe

“Yes, right now I can’t have my friends over to game AT MY HOUSE,”
That doesn’t really address the differences or the question. But further outlines your preference. In that I wouldn’t try to argue the point. But again, you can’t compare the two…

I get that you want voice chat…

          • oontz

Ha ha, I can compare the two. Both options give me the ability to speak to the friends I am gaming with, either in person or online. Now if it’s not a multiplayer game than no need for chat but when I beat my friends in games its fun to chat while doing so.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Agreed. Whether they are in the same room with you, or somewhere in the world in their living room. It’s the same thing, and is certainly comparable as online provides the same convenience of local. Saying it isn’t comparable is rather amusing.

          • Rinslowe

I think I was clear enough in the reasons as to why. And they are valid reasons, lol.
All you can say to it is “you think”… for no tangible reasons you can mention and that as you said “it amuses you”. Another lol moment.
Your posts are lacking conviction of late…

          • Rinslowe

That also wasn’t the comparison being made…
But as mentioned before, I can see you want “voice chat” in Kart. Fair enough…

And as I said, voice chat and having people in the same room are technically not something really worth comparing in that way…

I get all the reasons why people want chat. Believe it or not. But lets stick to the topic.

Basically you believe voice chat would enhance Karts experience. I actually think in this case it would subtract from it. For the reasons mentioned to Gonzalez.

            No big deal there. Right?

          • oontz

“as I said, voice chat and having people in the same room are technically not something really worth comparing in that way…”

Sorry I don’t follow the point you’re trying to make. Being able to speak with other gamers wether or not they’re in the same room is the comparison I was making. It adds a level of depth to a multiplayer experience. without it you may as well be playing Kart in offline mode, right?

“I think it would add noise to what is a very scripted and paced audio experience.”

If you could not choose who you were speaking to and could only hear everyone speaking, then yes. But if like other online platforms you could create chat parties and only speak to your friends you’re playing with, then it would add to the experience.

But again like we’ve both said these are just opinions. Some people like voice chat some don’t. But the fact still remains that the option should be there for people to choose.

          • Rinslowe

“Sorry I don’t follow the point you’re trying to make.”

Not sure how I could make the point any clearer. But fair enough. Maybe it’ll come to in time…

“If you could not choose who you were speaking to and could only hear everyone speaking, then yes. But if like other online platforms you could create chat parties and only speak to your friends you’re playing with, then it would add to the experience.”

This also isn’t what I was getting at… If you read it carefully…

“I think it would add noise to what is a very “scripted” and “paced” audio experience.”

            &

” There’s already a lot of audio going on with all the tricks, power ups and weapons etc…”

That’s pretty much my point. It wouldn’t matter if it was party chat or open… As the two options feature in nearly every game with voice chat that I can think of. I didn’t think it was worth separating the two… Until now that is…

Now that things are hopefully a little more clear. We can move on too agreeing we simply have differing opinions on the matter lol…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You can always adjust the sounds in the game with voice chat so that it has a good balance. We all do that during online play on PC. I don’t see how that would subtract from the experience, but that’s entirely my opinion there. It’s not necessary for every game, but I feel that games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros could certainly use it.

No big deal there? Well….that would depend on the type of gamer. Some don’t mind it and others feel it’s a downer. Personally speaking, it wouldn’t stop me from playing the game, as I could always fire up my laptop and talk from Skype. Though, having an alternative option is always a plus.

          • Rinslowe

As a PC gamer for many years I just don’t see how chat in Kart will enhance the experience. Everything can be adjusted, even on console most times…
I guess where the topic took a slide is where two people tried to reason the preferences based on audio quality (which is still a valid point in a way. No amount of adjustment or quality of equipment at the local side can beat out hearing your friends right next to you. And your ear will adjust more accurately to those localised sounds compared to shared audio channels. Not to mention bandwidth and audio quality with chat on any platform or software varies by the user/ hardware etc…)
In any case arguing that point was a losing battle to take up. I should have just kept it simple in that we three have a differing point of view on the subject. And that was my reasoning behind the statement ultimately “No big deal there. Right?”

      • kali

Fans like you is why nintendo’s online will never evolve cuz u except it. Saying use skype or a phone no a simple feature like voice chat is a staple feature in online gaming.

        • Zackary Bruley

For me personalty, it’s not a deal breaker.

  • kali

    No Voice Chat whyyyy

    • uPadWatcher

      Use Skype on your PC.

  • Josie the Sketcher

Looks beautiful!!! I think it’s great they don’t include voice chat. Would you want people swearing? Having voice chat would ruin the fun plus it’ll be pretty annoying.

  • Zackary Bruley

    TAKE… MY MONEY!

  • Rinslowe

Yeah, like everyone keeps saying…. Take my money Nintendo!!

    • Mithiragi

Yo hook me up with that paper.

        It’s all about the credits.
        :)

        • Mithiragi

As long as it’s not some Failbox Live cards I guess.

          • Rinslowe

            Hmm….

I guess it’s possible on a side note to Bitcoin the e-shop…
            No, no I must not…

          • Mithiragi

Does anyone actually use bit coins? lol

          • Rinslowe

            Um…No idea tbh?
            I never did….

            (sells bitcoins)

          • Mithiragi

Lol I have no idea where to you can use them. I just know that in order to acquire bit coins, you have to mine for them.

          • Rinslowe

            Like coal mining…

          • Mithiragi

In the comfort of your own home as well.

      • Mithiragi

Good luck in the weeks following up to June Iwata-san. You’ll need it.

  • uPadWatcher

May 30th… the date Nintendo takes my money for Mario Kart 8!

    • Mithiragi

My name’s not Nintendo, but thanks.

      • crocodileman94

You have to forgive him the difference between your name and Nintendo is just two letters.

  • Leo

Nintendo must do a heavy marketing for this game! It deserves to be seen by every nerd, grandpa, kid, dudebro, PLAYERS all over the world! Its the biggest chance for the WiiU to finally fly! I hope Nintendo makes a lot of noise around May 30th!

    • FutureFox

I know. But that shipped has long since sailed taking 1994 with it.

      • Leo

Uh? 1994? what do you mean?

        • FutureFox

Nintendo’s glorious ad campaigns of the bygone 90s era.

I remember the commercial where the dude got a job just so he could get $129.95 to buy a N64. As soon as he got his check, he quit. Funny.

I remember the commercial where the dude got a job just so he could get 249.99 to buy a N64. As soon as he got his check, he quit and bought one.

  • nWo4liFe

Very excited for this. I bought a Wii U because I naturally outgrew the games that Xbone and PS4 offer.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Kinda vice versa for me.

      • nWo4liFe

I’m a very happy PC owner too. If anything comes out for the twins, I’ll just get it for PC, but there’s nothing I’m dying to play… Batman AK.. That’s about it, haha.

        • oontz

” If anything comes out for the twins, I’ll just get it for PC”

          Unless it’s an exclusive.

        • WellWisher

That and The Division are the two I’m looking forward to.
