Sears selling Nintendo Land bundles for $99

Wii U 2

Over the weekend a redditor discovered that Sears seems to be marking down their stock of the 32GB Wii U Deluxe bundle to a massive discount. The bundle rings up for regular price, but a $199 discount applied to the price of the purchase brings the grand total down to $99. Of course, your mileage may vary on this deal, since it’s not an advertised thing. If you’re keen on taking advantage of this, call any Sears locations in your area and ask if they have Wii U stock available. Ask them to ring them up and they should show up as $99.

This deal is only valid for the Nintendo Land 32GB bundle, which is no longer being produced as the Mario + Luigi bundle has replaced it as the default Wii U SKU from Nintendo. Sears is probably trying to get rid of old stock by discounting it.

You can see the proof of the $99 purchase here:

    wow… THATS a deal

    • jjbredesen

Yeah thats one god dam deal……

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

makes me feel pretty damn stupid for buying it when it was 350. I’m starting to think Nintendo needs to admit they fucked up and do something about it

        • MichelChartrand

In all fairness though this is a discount not a price cut. Also by paying full price you got to enjoy it longer. Whenever I see price cuts and think dang if I would have waited until now…but then I realize if I waited until now, I wouldn’t have had my Wii U all this time.

        • jjbredesen

Yup, they have but they are to proud to do so…., never buy a console early always wait a year or 2 to see how stuff ends up is what i have learned, and then you will have games to buy.

          • crocodileman94

  • jjbredesen

    O_O

    • Magnus Eriksson

Yup. I think 99$ would be a more reasonable price for a Wii U. 199$ is still too expensive. Maybe something in between? 150$.

      • jjbredesen

I would love for it to be sold at that price, but how do you turn a profit if it was sold at $99 sure it would sell, but Nintendo would lose a shit tone of money, and there is no games to make back the lost money :P

        • RagtimeRoastBeefy

Nintendo has enough money to lose on this one.

They are nowhere near trouble, financially.

          • jjbredesen

I know that, but no point in selling a console, if you lose money :P

      • matthew garcia

There already losing money on wii u might at as well sale them for 99 and get your install base as big as possible for the next wii u exclusives

      • Capt. Smoker

Confirmation: Wii U has flopped, I’m selling mine, it’s a bag of asses, it was a complete waste of money, even on special offer, at this point, my excitement level is at 0%, I don’t even care about missing future releases, mostly because it’s too far off in the future for the games showcased a long time a go, so long as my son has the basic in his room, he’ll care very little and won’t miss out on 1 game a year from Nintendo and so long as ps4 can stream from kissanime, I don’t care because the Wii U with no games only has that use anyway, plus, it’ll be nice to be free from that mandatory ugly ass gamepad, world of games, here I come!

        • matthew garcia

Those are harsh words smoker but I understand your frustration

          • Capt. Smoker

Indeed, I’ve lost my faith with Nintendo, and rather than be let down consistently, I’d sooner buy a console that’s going to avoid droughts in game releases, that was never a problem I faced with the ps3

          • jjbredesen

Well PS4 is having that problem now, but i think it is getting better, but again wait for MK8, or E3 before giving up, if E3 sucks then there is no reason to keep it at all.

          • 504HotBoy

Very true! As a PS4 owner I can very much tell you, it’s in the same boat as the Wii U at the current moment. Most of the games I enjoy playing won’t hit till 2015. Final Fantasy XV, The Witcher 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, etc. But I will get Watch Dogs & The Evil Within this year. I’m pretty sure after E3 there will be more games revealed. Just have to be patient.

          • Decker Shado

            ????

Didn’t get a PS3 at launch then, did ya?

          • Capt. Smoker

Yup I did, plus ps2 was still pumping out good games at that point, so I wasn’t bored ^_^

          • Rinslowe

Put all your hope in one place and that’ll happen every time…
I still wonder if Nintendo can make Wii U a success commercially. But if not I’m good with them providing me with Zelda, X etc…

That’s because I’m gaming on nearly everything now. Just need to wait for the next Halo and I’ll even stoop to new lows picking up that NSA toy Xbox One… With a smile, might I add…

I get all the disappointment from long term Nintendo fans, I honestly do. But pining over it and declaring over and over how they’re no longer a company worth supporting is their loss, your loss really.
Those games even though few they might be are still worthwhile gaming experiences.
Sometimes I’m really glad I got to a position in life where supporting a platform is just a simple matter of parting with a few coins…

        • jjbredesen
          • Capt. Smoker

I’m not really excited for kart to be honest, my son is, he’s been going on about it for months, I just wanted X and Bayonetta, neither look like happening anytime soon

          • jjbredesen

Yeah i feel your pain, i have a feeling that Zelda U will be out before X, only reason i buy Nintendo consoles are for Zelda, so if Zelda U sucks i will not keep my Wii U, but untill then no question i will sell it, i have Hyrule Warriors this year, so i will survive, not so sure you will though :/

          • Ducked

I think X will be out before Zelda. Zelda U probably won’t be out until Fall 2015, or early 2016.

          • jjbredesen

Nah i think that we will get Zelda around February-may 2015, and X in the summer, but it could be the other way around.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Zelda U is the day Wii U is discontinued and another console is launched.

          • jjbredesen

            No.

          • sd

Unless Zelda U gets pushed to the next console. I do wonder about some of the future games and whether they will actually make it to the Wii U. Nintendo should have at the very least made a heap of HD remakes like F -zero etc. These could have been done in a few months each and would have at least meant something was released.

          • Ducked

Zelda games seem to always release in November, that’s why I want to say November 2015.

          • jjbredesen

When i think about it your right, but i think it will be released a little earlier perhaps September-October ?

          • sd

On which platform?Wii U or next console?
But yes Zelda U wont be this year. Just look at smash bros and Mario Kart. Nintendo need to spend at least a year releasing pictures of the game before they release it.
On the positive at least they are releasing something.on a regular basis, even if it is only screen shots.

          • DragonSilths

            Nope this year.

          • Ducked

Zelda this year? Not even possible

          • DragonSilths

Oh yes it is. 4 years in development. And if we DID see it last year then you all would be saying well we saw it once already so yeah I could see it being this year. Nothing has changed its still at the same point regardless. It was going to be shown off not once but twice last year, and if your one of those idiots who thinks “oh we haven’t seen it yet so its not coming this year” news flash, Dr. Luigi was revealed poof was out a month later, Kirby Triple Deluxe was revealed poof 3 months later its out in Japan. With Nintendo logic is not there. Nintendo could say we will have Zelda at E3 this year and then when E3 comes, its Reggie on stage naked with a master sword and eating a taco. So when dealing with Nintendo its best to just listen to a god like myself. Zelda HD is coming this year whether you like it or not, UNLESS the typical 1 year Zelda delay happens.

          • greengecko007

I think both games look like strong 2015 titles. Zelda U moreso because of Hyrule Warriors supposedly coming out this year.

          • Ducked

Hyrule warriors pretty much confirms we won’t have Zelda this year

          • 504HotBoy

Yeah X is a lot further along than people think it is. They’re just being secretive till the last minute like they always do. I’m pretty sure it will be here as early as 4th quarter 2014. I know Zelda won’t hit till next year. After E3 we all should know a bit more on things and see what else Nintendo have up their sleeves.

          • Rinslowe

            X…

Here’s hoping. I really wouldn’t mind to be playing that game this year…
Still the most anticipated Wii U title for me to date.

          • 504HotBoy

Yep that’s my most anticipated title as well!

          • Rinslowe

So long as X gets a end of year 2014 release then fall 2015 for Zelda U is OK in my books.
But, hopefully there’s one or two other first party titles apart from Smash and X to be had before Zelda… Surely…???

          • Gameonfool

What about that Yoshi game they showed a couple of pictures of ladt year that may be out this year

          • Rinslowe

True Yarn Yoshi…. any news on that title???
Is it even still in production?? haha It’s hilarious actually…
No-one really knows what’s going down in the house of Nintendo. I mean I’m a Ninty supporter all the way, but you have to see the funny side of this marketing debacle…

          • Gameonfool

hope they just being secretive to explode with content this E3 if not then it will be a sad day

          • Capt. Smoker

I love Zelda so I’ll just hog my kids room for that one lol same for metroid, o just want a machine that’s gonna give me games on a regular basis

          • jjbredesen

            Sounds like a plan!

          • Rinslowe

It’s OK to admit the Wii U is in your room, lol…

          • 504HotBoy

Some how I doubt that. I believe the earliest we may get the new Zelda will be 2nd quarter 2015. I have a feeling X will be released before that. Most likely 4th quarter 2014. Bayonetta 2 most likely in September. I would still keep my Wii U, especially if you own other consoles to play other games in the meantime. In all honesty I haven’t been really playing my Wii U or PS4 that much cause, a lack of games. The last major game I bought on my Wii U was DKC:TF and the last PS4 game I bought was Infamous:SS. I have Watch Dogs on pre-order for my PS4 and Mario Kart 8 on pre-order for my Wii U. I’m just waiting till E3 to see what announcements and new games Sony & Nintendo will reveal.

          • jjbredesen

Yup, don’t own a PS4, but have spent a lot of time with my friends xD, and its pretty good, but like Wii U, no major titles, so lets hope E3 is great :D

          • simkenno

So your sons excited for it and yet your selling it ….. ??

          • Capt. Smoker

I bought 3 wii us in total, one for my living room, one for my sons bedroom and one for my mum’s house for when he’s there overnight, I’m only selling mine so he won’t miss out anyway :) plus he has no interest in any other console so I’ll finally get my tv back lol

          • simkenno

            That’s good :)

          • Igor

            No control over youd money

          • http://Nintendo.com Nintendo of America

Investing in 3 Wii U’s is a very good use of his money.

            //Nintendo

          • Igor

3 Wii Us in the same house? It’s not a good investment at all. You’re just another guy who has no idea about how to spend money. If you call this an investment, the same goes for not having any idea about how to make money.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Agree. I actually was interested in MK8 in the beginning as its one of my favourite series. But even though it look like candy I lost interest because thats the only thing Ive heard of the last year. I feel like I have seen enough from it now.

          • Capt. Smoker

Nintendo announce games 1-2 years before releasing them, the strategy is getting old and currently, megami emblem has only had 1 shitty trailer…. I’m done waiting at this point

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True story. Beyond this year, I don’t see much to look forward to.

          • Capt. Smoker

People say E3 will be the bomb dropper, might aswell poop on the party now and tell us they have ran out of ideas lol

          • Dáibhí wotshissurname

I actually quite like how the Nintendo Direct announces games, because usually when a game is announced on a Direct, it comes out the next Thursday.

          • Rinslowe

            Yawn…

          • simkenno

            Upvote for judge Judy :D

          • Orto

Go home SDF. This site is for nintendo and your butt hurt sony fanboy nature is getting on our nerves >:o

          • matthew garcia

Ha your worse then David trail. Didn’t u just get kicked off not to long ago

          • Orto

Your worse than that bqnkrupt company called sony. Nintendo will always be the best hahaha

          • Igor

Just proves no matter what shit they do you will accept like the trained dog you are.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep. Less than a week ago I think.

          • jjbredesen

Not owned a sony console since PS1 :P

          • Rinslowe

Just get the guy banned already, lol.
Obviously it’s just another troll account, created to perpetuate anti…

I suggest you shut your rotten impotent teeth inside your face before I began to calculate the most excruciating forms of discipline on you. I guess you got what you wanted, troll.

          • Rinslowe

            Wait…. what??…. same… side… he said…?? Again….
            {0_o}

          • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

Does this guy honestly seem like he’s “on our side”, or just like a trollish beggar trying to annoy people, masquerading as a fanboy who accepts Nintendo and only Nintendo? It’s the wrong sort of extreme, and putting down other valid companies is wrong.

          • Nick Ruozzi

oh my your life must be empty

          • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

Well, yes, it might be, but that’s not for you to say!

          • Rinslowe

He’s only out to incite anti. He likely hasn’t played Nintendo games for ages…
            Daniel…

          • Igor

You’re the fanboy that cant think clearly.

          • Dáibhí wotshissurname

What episode was that? Please tell me!

            “Wait for The Wonderful 101″

          • jjbredesen

I have never sad wait for any of those tites, only game i believe can fix stuff is Mario Kart, nothing else, if MK8 fails all hope is lost.

        • Gudleifson

You can use Animeseason.com on the wii u to stream anime for FREE!

Moreover, how many console games can you afford? i commonly only buy 8-12 games per console, through it’s entire lifespan.

Nintendo is rather good at filling that void…

          • Capt. Smoker

Kissanime.com/m/ is incredibly good for anime ^_^ I tend to enjoy 1-3 games a month, which is why Wii U isn’t for me after all, I rent my games from boomerang unless it’s for my son, then I buy them instead, so only issue is lack of games in the end

          • lonewolf

Lack of games? The wii u has 300 games eshop titles and retail together (indie as well) so you should be saying not enough first party exclusives (the last one was released at the end of february so only one and half month gap till now.)

          • Capt. Smoker

Different people have different tastes, i’ve enjoyed a few eshop titles so far, games like pikmin 3 and 3d world were fun too, but compared to my ps3….. i’ve had nothing to play, it shouldn’t be that way for a console that’s been on the market since 2012…. they’ve had enough time to fix their short comings and have done nothing, I like Nintendo games but I have a 2ds for that, plus…ps4 will cater to more crowds and I’m a guy who loves all kinds of different games, games Nintendo don’t offer

          • Nostalgic_Chaos

Yeah I understand your pain dude. I really do.
I’ve got a Wii U as well, I’ve got a few games on it. Zelda HD, Rayman Legends… Had Mario 3D W. and Pikmin 3 too but sold them. The truth of the matter is, is that the true fun with the Wii U is not going to start until the rest of the first party games are released, starting with Mario Kart next month. Need I say more about Smash Brothers?
Then the party begins! It’s just a matter of patience. I know Nintendo have made many mistakes with the Wii U. Trust me, there is no one more frustrated then I am with what they have done, however, we know that the games are coming. I’d stick around with Nintendo and start a fresh when Mario Kart 8 comes out. Don’t give up. Things will change and pick up a steady pace when MK8 is released.

          • Capt. Smoker

I’m reluctant to sell it to be honest, I know good games will come, that’s something I learned from the wii’s life cycle but even a 100+ million seller had far too little to offer, the wii u isn’t much better off, I guess a few too many things get to me about it, mostly the lack of games, a few freeze ups from time to time, daily at the moment, and the gamepad seems to get in my way a lot, so much so that I can’t really stand the thing, I wish it wasn’t necessary to have it on all the time, I’m sure I’ll just use the basic model in my son’s eoom when there’s games I can’t live without, however, there won’t be many, probably only the fire emblem shin megami tensei cross over, I was pumped for X but I don’t like the idea of fighting in mechs, since watching attack on titan, it would be far cooler turning titan and beating up man eating mechs lol

          • Nostalgic_Chaos

Yeah, I’ve been getting the freeze ups as well since the past couple of days for some reason. I use my Wii U Pro Controller for most things now I guess. The only time I need to turn on the Gamepad is if I’m using Netflix or using the internet browser. Other than that, when playing games, I don’t use it. Now, I’ve learned to stop buying all these third party games cause I just end up selling them. Wasted money, as you obviously wont get back the full money. I even sold Monster Hunter, including the other ones I mentioned. Those games just don’t satisfy me like MK and Smash Bros does.

My PS3 stopped working for no reason and got the red light of death, so right now I’m only counting on my Wii U for gaming (getting a Gaming PC next month). I feel let down by Sony. And I wont be buying another PS3. Great console, I just don’t feel like I can count on another one. I only had it for a year and just gave out on me. It’s been a frustrating last few years of gaming for me. I wont lie.

          • Capt. Smoker

I use the browser the most, so I guess I need the gamepad for that, unfortunately you can’t use the wii mote for that, I don’t really bother with 3rd party games either, at least not on the Wii U, I like unique games, most 3rd party games are simply common stock on Wii U, can’t say I fancied monster hunter either, I couldn’t read the text lol it was way too small, and I’ve had a few ps3s too…. never red light but all of them stopped reading blu rays, by the way, addme on fb if you have it :) https://www.facebook.com/simon.stevens.1048

          • Nostalgic_Chaos

            Added!
Your face looks familiar! I’ve probably seen you on other gaming comments and things.

          • jrob23

really? compared to a console that has been out for 7 years? Who would a thunk it?

          • lonewolf

And like you said different people like different games so if you like fast paced action games or fps thats good for you but maybe the guy next to you likes puzzle games platformers and adventure games which the wii u has a lot (and many other genres) even fps (cod) and fast paced action games (w101 splinter cell black list and etc)

          • Capt. Smoker

I actually couldn’t care less about fps and action games, the most fun I’ve ever had was playing mighty switch force, that was a puzzle type platformer I guess, my favourite genre is jrpgs, Sony seem to cater to a lot of anime styled games, I get mostly wrapped up in that sort of stuff, I feel Nintendo games now are mostly the same old predictable thing, and I kind of wish they’d be a little more serious again, since Iwata took over, it’s been more like clown school and slacking off, rather than truly innovating in the games industry

        • Ducked

Why are you on a Wii U site if you hate it that much? Surely there’s more things to do in life.

          • Capt. Smoker

I can still grab news on upcoming games to buy my son, from now on, that’ll probably be my only reason

          • Ducked

            Fair enough

          • Commander Raichu

you really dont need this site to figure out upcoming games when you can go to my favorite site ever made
            gameinformer

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Ouch.

          • Capt. Smoker

            Aye, my butt hurts lol

          • Orto

Ouch that you bought the bankruptstation 3.5 ;)

          • matthew garcia

I bought a bankruptstation and a can’t sell for crap wii u and a can’t play full hd xbox 1

          • Orto

Haha unfortunate for then pony boy:)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Ouch that you bought a third partyless console. Grow up kid. ;P

        • sasori obinna mii

good job sell your wii u. as a wii u owner myself i wont even be buying mario kart 8 or super smas bros. i saving up money for an xbox 360 and 15 cheap games. i sick of buying the same old nintendo games.

          • Jon

so you’re going to buy the same old games on the 360 instead?

          • Guest

hes pretty dumb you should see his mynintendonews comments

          • Capt. Smoker

Ditto lol using my ps3 the most…. even now

          • matthew garcia

Have u played heavy rain. I love that game

          • Capt. Smoker

Yeah it was brilliant, I love a good mystery game, it was a masterpiece in that genre, it’s one of many genres Nintendo don’t bother with, hence why every game feels more or less the same by them at this point, nobody makes better kid games than Nintendo but nobody makes better adult games than Sony, plus they cater to the jrpg fans, got to love them for that, they exclusively gave us ni no kuni after all

          • Rinslowe

Whats with all these troll accounts lately? hahaha…
This approach isn’t working out for ya fellas….

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Why do you think anyone who is thinking of selling their Wii U, must be a troll account? Granted, they may be, but then again, can you be sure of that? Lol. There are people who sold their PS4′s and even Xbox Ones, can we call those people trolls too? Not to be mean about this but uhm….aren’t you concerning yourself with what people do with their purchases, troll or not? I guess that’s what we call a concern troll, eh Rinslowe? This approach of yours isn’t working out for ya. Works both ways, fella. Again, I do partially agree with you that there are troll accounts of late, but I wouldn’t start thinking each comment must be one.

          • Rinslowe

“Why do you think anyone who is thinking of selling their Wii U, must be a troll account? ”

I don’t. Only the ones that are obviously troll accounts. If you can’t see the difference, don’t come complaining to me about it mate…
            lol.

          • Commander Raichu

sasori is a troll(not through selling the wii u) but he is the most hated guy on mynintendonews
all he talks about is how wii u is trash and also calls it weaku and babyu
he has no respect for nintendo
and thinks cod is still better than metroid and zelda
hes a troll i dealt with him before ill fight him again

          • Rinslowe

He’s a troll because his only objective is to start anti within the community….

          • C.S. Bailey

So you’re going to buy a 360 and 15 games, with 10 of them being FPS’s?

          • Commander Raichu

            YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Commander Raichu

your that troll that ruined mynintendonews!

        • Rygar

If you think the Wii U has no games, I’m sure you’ll love the PS4 or X1 ;)

          • Capt. Smoker

The upcoming list is 50+ games for ps4….. 15+ for wii u, that’s a factor in my decision

          • Rinslowe

If Wii U has more games in development, we don’t know about it…
            That’s the real issue.

(Shakes head in wonder at the phenomenal “WTF are they doing in Nintendo’s marketing” divisions, Lol)…

          • Capt. Smoker

Reggie’s too busy with his part time job selling tvs and electronics on the shopping network, it’s about the only thing he knows how to sell, “today we have this LG 50″ plasma! it’s a well known brand with 0% failure rate, think about that 0%!! it’s got a 12 million 2 1 contrast ratio, all those pretty colours will pop when you play Mario 3D World! (licenced by Nintendo)”

          • CharlesAnderson

=[ignores 50+ games strictly from the Unity engine path]=

          • Rinslowe

            Unity engine path???
            Lol.

          • Capt. Smoker

            Don’t go down there!, it’s a trap!

          • Rinslowe

            Well, lets spring the trap!

          • CharlesAnderson

Yes, that would be the path that you follow to see the games developed on the Unity engine that are coming to Wii U. Your inability to interpret my post doesn’t make it any less valid.

          • Rinslowe

Personal insults won’t make your post any better. What would the path to be followed on Unity for Wii U look like?
            Lol
It’s free for pro with dev kits provided by Ninty….
It’s a good incentive to use Unity Pro IMO.

But the “Unity Engine Path” was a terrible way to say; Wii U has 50+ (mostly indie titles) coming that we “do” know about using Unity…

          • CharlesAnderson

Last I checked I wasn’t singling out your comments in an attempt to humiliate you. Point completely lost.

          • Rinslowe

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

That’s pretty much been the problem from the start. We usually know what games are coming out this year, but still waiting on release dates for X and even Bayonetta, and it’s hard to tell if they are actually going to be released this year. That and not knowing what is ahead in 2015. There are a fair amount of people who would rather wait to see what to expect next year before even making a long term investment in a Wii U.

          • Rinslowe

Now were talking the serious stuff, I have to agree. And totally don’t blame those that are in waiting for Nintendo to prove Wii U’s relevance outside of the core audience that has invested so far.
Even long time fans of their franchises like myself have a hard time accepting Nintendo’s current practices…
Keeping quiet about their upcoming titles is a complete no-brainer on how not to operate.
IF they pulled a Houdini at this years E3 then OK, that would make sense. Haha. Jokes on us, nice one Nintendo etc.. etc..
But honestly don’t see that happening.
Nope, the marketing and advertising is pre-industrialised era stuff from Ninty today.
            A complete shame.

          • Guest

Catering to the 3DS fanbase as usual.

          • jjbredesen

Yup, seems like they don’t care about Wii U, 3DS gets 2X as much games as Wii U every year, and Smash is coming on it first, it’s like they have given up on Wii U, and want to make as much money of 3DS as possible…

          • Nathaniel Lopez

Catering to the 3DS’s fanbase as usual.

        • Rinslowe

          Oh well…
That was awesome to read nonetheless… :)

        • PrincessKairi

Nintendo’s current and future plans for Wii U…..

          • Capt. Smoker

            Hahahahahahaha that’s too funny xD

        • jrob23

          cool story bro

        • RyuNoHadouken

yeah, my Wii U collects dust…i was playing W101 a couple of weeks ago, but i have so many PC games to get through and Titanfall(Xbone) takes a lot of my gaming time…Ground Zeroes on PS4 is a blast too…stealth is always fun :)

        • C.S. Bailey

          I’ll buy it for $100.

        • GABRIEL GARCIA

          • Capt. Smoker

Hahahahaha amazing *clap clap clap* I don’t know what version is better :p I love Frozen but damn this dudes mk version is addictive

        • MrTravan

Wow, your take on everything about the Wii U is so backwards I can’t tell if you’re just confused or being sarcastic. Like the gamepad comment. The gamepad is literally the only reason I purchased and play the Wii U on a daily basis. I like Nintendo games in general. I play old games on VC and have Mario and DK Country. Will be getting Mario Kart 8 also. Don’t care about sales. I buy consoles to play games on. Not sure why the world has to research sales trends before buying gaming consoles anymore. Simple to me. If it’s fun, I want it.

          • Capt. Smoker

Your probably right, and honestly, the gamepad was the reason I bought the Wii U, it’s come in handy a few times when I wanted to watch the tv but the little one wanted to play games, I think it being mandatory is what really gets me, as I’d like to operate the system without it and only use it when I need to, I like browsing on it though…. having ease of access to the internet on my tv is great, my frustration isn’t so much about the Wii U itself, more how Nintendo have chosen to go about their business with it, I love Nintendo games, but that’s all we seem to get, I’d love to see some more of what everybody else gets instead or at least see Nintendo branch out on their genre of games, with games like Fire Emblem, they’ve proven to be slick and talented in the jrpg genre, yet they never bother to use that talent on new franchises, it’s mostly just a rerun of franchises, if sales bothered me, I would have sold my Vita and not bothered importing the Vita tv, I just want to see a steady flow of games from Nintendo, seems like that won’t happen on the Wii U, as even the Wii had major droughts throughout it’s life cycle, I couldn’t even say that once with my ps3, I still can’t.

          • MrTravan

I would like to see more than just Nintendo games too, but I guess I’ve just accepted they won’t ever be in competition with sony and MS like they were with Sega. Really what keeps me buying is that I like their games and I really like playing the old stuff I played when I was younger. Ultimately it would be cool to just buy one console and have the best of both worlds. On the gamepad though. I play my Wii U a lot without ever touching it. I use the pro controller a lot when playing VC games and most of the other games.

      • Noah

I wonder how much it costs to make a Wii U. It has been rumored to cost $180 to make. Don’t know for sure, but if that’s true, $150 would not be a good price obviously hahaha.

        http://wiiudaily.com/2012/04/wii-u-costs-nintendo-180-to-manufacture-report/

      • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

Nintendo needs to give me a Wii U for free. At this point, they owe it to us.

    • GermGerm

      They bought 2 of them.

    • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

      I just followed you.

    • greengecko007

I must be bad at math, because I don’t see how you could buy 2 Wii U’s for $399. Sears lists this model of the Wii U on their website for $394 (yes, that’s more than it’s launch price).

      http://www.sears.com/nintendo-wii-u-console-black-deluxe/p-SPM11351444316?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

      • jjbredesen

Thats really weird, the article must be wrong?

    • Christopher Kiyo Pugliese

Based on the taxes yes its 199.99. Honestly not a bad deal but spend another 80 bucks you get 2 games and another controller…
      I’d rather that.

  • Niknique

Your practically stealing it with that price 0_0

    • Alan Michael Hensley

trade-in value is $120 at GameStop, put it towards Mario Kart 8, it becomes $156, granted thats for store credit, but still more than paid for, plus Nintendo land trades in separate

      • Niknique

That’s… not bad, not bad at all :)

  • matthew garcia

It’s a great deal but all that back stock and getting rid of them for 99 bucks means they can’t get rid of them. At 99 bucks sears is like please will someone just take these things

    • jrob23

      such a troll

      • jjbredesen

But its true, retailers are having problems selling of Wii U’s.

      • matthew garcia

Lol I’m not trying to be a troll. I hate the word honestly cuz it’s all u hear on the internet. There is no denying that that big of a discount means they have a problem getting rid of them. What’s wrong with saying that

        • Commander Raichu

          well im my opinion
          *initiate rant mode*
maybe people should shut up about the wii u being dead and actually worry about games
when sales are improtant for comapanies and investors!
this comment now has 2 sides
          the hopeless/trolls and the fanboys
(i for one am in the neutral since personally i love microsoft the most)

    • WT Herrod Jr.

Not that Wii U’s are just flying on the shelf but on the other hand, when was the last time you (you the audience, not you in particular) frequented a Sears. Sears is having problems moving much of anything nowadays…

      • matthew garcia

        So true.

  • Alan Michael Hensley

that receipt says that the Wii U is $399.94, you minus the 199.96, and that makes it $199.98, not $99.99

    • jrob23

isn’t it sad that people are so bad at attention to detail? So basically the whole premise of this article is false, yet this will probably stay up for days. And although this is small potatoes, it adds to the illusion that the Wii U is so hurting that it is selling for $99.

      • GermGerm

It also says the quantity is 2. They bought more than one. Attention to detail :)

        • Fifi Larns

Oh so true :) . If some people actually looked closer before running their mouths, they would’ve seen the quantity is 2 so the price is right and this article :) .

        • jrob23

sorry my doctored receipt class didn’t cover quantities

      • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

Isn’t it sad that people are so bad at attention to detail that they don’t notice two were purchased?

        • jrob23

sorry I didn’t see the 2 on the random not to be ever duplicated quite possibly doctored receipt. my bad

          • matthew garcia

            Your a good man jrob23

          • matthew garcia

U can never be wrong huh

          • Alan Michael Hensley

not to mention that the 32GB Wii U Deluxe retails for $299.99, so why would 2 ring up for $399.96? also, most receipts have the quantity of how many you buy right next to the item, not above and to the left of it, i think it could be butchered, but someone call sears and find out, so this pointless argument can stop

        • jjbredesen
    • matthew garcia

Even 200 dollar drop is still huge

      • jrob23

huge difference between $199 and $99…c’mon, even you can admit that

        • matthew garcia

I know there is a huge difference between 99 and 199 I can see that lol. Retailers did a similar but not as drastic discount with titanfall bundle

  • ican1992

It really is depressing that such a great, fun console has to be market down so drastically for people to buy it.

  • Scott McKendrick

    399.99 – 199.99 = $200

    • Rich Garriques

      wii u is 299 – 199 = 99 get your facts straight

      • Dennis Hååg

Sorry but the reciept doesnt say 299. It says 399 for a Wii U. Get your eyes fixed.

        • Herbert Says

Look under QTY it says 2. Please get your eyes fixed before telling someone else.

          • Dennis Hååg

I know my eyes are not perfect. But im not going to let a pedophile tell me what to do.

          • Herbert Says

Why don’t you come on down to the cella, I gotta whoooole freezer FULL of popsicles.

          • Rinslowe

            Hahaha….
Oh no no no no no…

            (shakes head)

        • matthew garcia

There are 2 wii u ‘ s on the receipt so each had to be already discounted to 199 so that came out to 399 for both with the additional discount again to equal 99. I could be wrong though

          • greengecko007

If this scenario is real, that’s how it most likely worked. Sears lists this Wii U model as $399, but they could have rung it up as $199, a price we have already seen other retailers sell old Wii U models for.

        • simkenno

          Arnt you clever …… Idiot

      • Adrian

        299-199 = 100. Get your math straight.

  • FIreproof_actual

    Journalism at it’s finest folks…

  • FALLEN

There is a quantity of 2, do the math it’s 99.99 each

  • Ducked

Time to tell all my friends

    • matthew garcia

I’m on my way to sears right now. Gonna resale it and see if I can make a little profit. Sucks that I paid 349.00 for it

      • Niknique

I’m feelin the same way bro. There’s that little voice inside of us thats saying “shoulda waited!”

        • matthew garcia

Yeah man I think I’m frustrated cuz I purchased it within the 1st month of its release and I had to go through its growing pains. If I had Waited til now with its small but nicely established library of games I’m sure I would have felt better

      • matthew garcia

Wow maybe I should call them first I don’t even know if they have any lol

        • Ducked

I called my local one and they didn’t have it, luckily another Sears still has two in stock. Only bad news is its a bit of a drive for me.

          • matthew garcia

Wow its true I live in the Houston TX area and they have some there

          • Ducked

            Nice, well good luck.

      • Ducked

I paid $349 for it, then it broke, and paid another $299 to replace it, and sold my old broken Wii U for $50, and the Gamepad for $100.

        • matthew garcia

My local gamestop only offered me 90 bucks for a trade in. Gamestop gives u pawn shop deals lol so I just kept it

          • Ducked

$90, wow that’s like them stealing it. My friend was going to trade in his original Wii three years ago, and they offered him $20. I buy almost all of my games there, but I never trade in anymore.

    • Gameonfool

maybe someone will buy one now

  • Jeremy

I called my local Sears and gave him the SKU, he said I was the 3rd person today to ask about this deal. (In Podunk South Carolina) And he told me the SKU is 1.5 years old, so this is probably a store that found a few Wii U’s that was buried in the back for ever…found its way to a shelf and the auto mark down system clearance the SKU to $99.00 over time.

    • Nonae Renada

Yeah I just called 3 stores looking for those buggers (at the very least to sell them for a profit) but all 3 of the stores said they didn’t have them. Fudgernuckins.

    • jrob23

no this is legit and found everywhere and should be front page news on a Wii U website for it’s positivity don’t you know? We are after all interested in as many unsubstantiated rumors and negative press we can find so that we gain clicks and attract trolls.

  • wiimenonowiiu

Seing it sold at that price kinda says i got screwed at 350 wow

    • CydeFxt

Not really. This is just one store taking a huge loss at selling a product with a higher value.

  • gerome

wii u is deader than the dead sea

    • Capt. Smoker

yep, dead is dead, whichever way you look at it lol

  • CydeFxt

There are a lot of games coming to it, not to mention a ton of indie support….but the Wii U is dead says the credible business experts. LoL get real.

  • http://twitter.com/CameronYeager Cameron Yeager

Just called my local Sears (central florida), and the store manager called it a reddit hoax, and they aren’t honoring it.

    • CydeFxt

But the Wii U is dead dude, didn’t you know? It’s $99.00 everywhere……or at least it should be.

    • matthew garcia

I guess it depends cuz in Houston they do. Not all Wal marts have the same discounts neither

    • jrob23

my thoughts exactly as I always find it hard to believe deals like these exist. More like a couple of idiots with too much time on their hands that want to shed the Wii U in a negative light. Wish websites didn’t run with stuff like this

  • sasori obinna mii

bargin bin last gen console confirmed. i guess wii u is a last gen console.

    • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

What are you doing here? Crawl back to my nintendo news, Sasori.

      • Rinslowe

But… “all on the same side you said”…..

        • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

Trust me, this guy is not on our side. He is a whiny Nartuo loving little boy, who only ever talks about how Nintendo is lazy rehashes and that he’s saving up for an Xbox 360 (Not even an Xbox ONE, just a 360).

          • Rinslowe

            Our side?
            You assume much young padawan.

          • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels
          • Rinslowe

            If you say so…
            You’re still assuming too much.

I’m glad however, that you managed to figure out how copying a gif link works…

Also glad I don’t suffer from seizures.

            :)

          • http://Thissitethesitethatexiststhisisarealsitedontclickthis.com Shane Michaels

I figured out it on my own. IT was obvious in hindsight. Thanks for the Nintendo pun, though…

          • Rinslowe

            Riiight…
You do realise, almost everything IS obvious in hindsight… :)

  • Alan Michael Hensley

It was a computer error, I called Sears and thats what they told me, an error was discounting the price, but it has now been fixed, so it is back up to $299.99

  • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

  • Beau H

Why was the initial price $399? Wii U was $349 at launch.

Seems suspicious to say the least…

    • WT Herrod Jr.

I think $399 was bundle and $349 was Deluxe set, no game. Could be wrong.

  • Greg Lanciotti

Learn to write and to check your facts. You based a whole article on one tiny picture. I dont know who is doing the math but 400-200 is 200. Anyway, apparently it was an error. Its just all down hill for the wii u.

    • Rinslowe

      Hahaha….

      Gotta love them trolls…
Nice one buddy. I realise now my reply earlier was totally wasted on you. IF you’re still sickened, then I’m all for that outcome. :P

  • zdog

Just called my store in Salt Lake City, UT. She said I was the 20th caller today, and that they definitely didn’t have any. Bummer.

  • Kobe

my mom is on the phone with them right now. im so excited :D!!!!!!!1

  • AlienFanatic

Odd. I just called Sears and the person I talked to says they don’t actually carry Wii-U systems in their stores. I was told that they only carry them online. Hoax?

    • WT Herrod Jr.

Probably just don’t carry them at that particular store, since Sears started doing so poorly a few years ago they’ve downsized a lot of their stores. There’s one in the area I live in that has a footprint comparable to a Dollar General. No clothing sales, they mostly only sell tools and appliances.

  • Quicksilver88

These retail deals are always so isolated that its hard to believe anyone ever gets one. The best real deal I ever saw that was easily available before xmas was the basic for something like $200 at newegg.com…..considered getting one just for a backup gamepad, I think gamestop had some spyro basics for $250 which was also a super deal if you like spyro.

  • lonewolf

If you know the boss you can easily get a discount this high so it doesnt mean its for all the nintendo land wiiu consoles. Probably this guy is the only one who got that even if its not like that its good more people to have these consoles isnt it?

  • felony211662

everyone on here is talking about fire selling their wii u’s, but they will never give up the comment sections here at wiiudaily.com! looking forward to more bitching and moping from people who obviously despise the console. I really need that void in my life filled :)

    • Commander Raichu

i am getting mad why are they here

      • Jim Peterson

This is not a fanboy website. Many of us own Wii U consoles and are very unhappy with both it and Nintendo and have a right to say so.

  • Steve Rees

Has no one that is saying 400 – 200 = 200 noticed that there is a quantity of 2!

    • Alan Michael Hensley

2 Wii U deluxe sets still don’t add up to 400, so the picture is obviously a fake

  • Yousif Alromaithi

    What a good deal.

  • sd

WOW. Despite my critisism of the Wii U due to poor game releases this deal is phenomenal. Anyone who can buy this for $99 sould do so, even if it is just to play Mario 3D world and Pikmin.

  • MichelChartrand

I get the feeling the discount was supposed to be 99 off and someone messed up. 99 for a deluxe Wii u with Nintendo land is beyond simply offloading old stock to make room for new bundles, considering they could have sold it with a new game as a deal and still would be less than $199. My guess is clerical error.

  • jrob23

lol this is still up I see. It’s a $199 deal at very select YMMV Sears. The receipt shown could have been a personal sales credit. The OP has gone on several sites and it is more a smear campaign against the Wii U then a “hey guys look let’s all get a cheap Wii U” type post. The fact that it is only on this site speaks volumes. I have yet to see any proof that anyone else got a deal like this. It’s on slickdeals and people have only been able to get it for $199 and that is maybe a handful. But a great article to run on a Wii U website. Sure does cast the console in a positive light and bring much needed positive attention to it…oh wait

    • oontz

You expected something better from here?

    • greengecko007

News is still news, whether it’s positive or negative. However, I do agree that something like this should have been further looked into, or at least listed under rumor. I have tried digging around on this myself, and I too have yet to see any proof that anyone got a Wii U for $99.

      • jrob23

I found proof that someone did in fact get one for $99. But even if a handful of people did..putting it up as an article on a pro Nintendo website is shameful. We as fans and this site should be trying to enhance the Wii U’s image not reporting when a glitch causes a random $99 sale or two. People see headlines like that and it adds fuel to the fire. The Wii U gets enough bad press from ‘neutral’ sites and trolls, they don’t need it from here and other pro Nintendo sites. A couple people getting this deal is not news. It’s a glitch. Putting it up as an article gives it the impression that it is widespread and hence…news. So sad. I thought Ashley was better than this as she has usually been top notch but this was just bad and hopefully a one time event.

  • Jeremy Baker

I called two Sears near my area and then I also called the head office the article is fake. They told me they have been getting a lot of calls about it but it’s not real

  • Dáibhí wotshissurname

Why doesn’t the UK get such good deals? There isn’t even as good a deal as £99 on Gumtree!

  • oontz

Quality over quantity Ashley. Less articles that are good and well reported would go along way on this site. Enough with this rumour, click bait crap. We get you like ad revenue, but you make it seem like the readers on here are complete morons.

    • Rinslowe

The only guy talking about the average poster on Wii U Daily being morons is you. I think you’ve called that one on numerous occasions, or close to that effect.
I’m not disagreeing with you on the ad revenue call. Obviously Wii U Daily having a consistent user base would employ various ways to gain revenue. And this could well be one of them. Not all are.
But I don’t believe Wii U Daily are out to cheat commentators here out of genuine news. Sometimes there’s just not enough decent news anyway. That and you gotta make a living right?
Again, I’m not defending this site as much as I’m more interested in knowing where you think you fit in all this??
Are you the white night in shining armour? Here to save the morons from being tricked into reading click-bait articles??
What’s your angle? Because you call blsht on this site more than any other poster out there…
      Just curious as to why???

      • oontz

“The only guy talking about the average poster on Wii U Daily being morons is you”

You misread my post I said “you (wiiudaily) make it seem like the readers on here are complete morons.” I wasn’t calling posters morons, just that this site often passes off articles such as this with no regard for any fact checking before posting, assuming their readers will just eat it up, and click, click, click…

“But I don’t believe Wii U Daily are out to cheat commentators here out of genuine news.”

I don’t think they are cheating anyone, just throwing whatever they can at the wall and hoping it sticks. More importantly hoping it creates a hot topic for more page clicks, and in turn more revenue for them.

“Sometimes there’s just not enough decent news anyway.”

Well as Nintendo fans always say (Ashley included) Quality over quantity, right?

“Again, I’m not defending this site as much as I’m more interested in knowing where you think you fit in all this??”

I fit into this by being a part of the community, it doesn’t mean I have to stay quiet when articles such as this one have not been fact checked and after being clearly reported (by other news outlets, and posters) as a hoax… the article still has NOT been updated to reflect the actual facts. There are even people still coming in and accepting this article as fact. Just look at the most recent post.

“What’s your angle? Because you call blsht on this site more than any other poster out there…
        Just curious as to why???”

First I call bullshit on any site that is posting bullshit. This is not the only site I visit on the internet. On this site it has become a trend for Ashley (and wiiudaily) to constantly post articles such as this, they are doing the readers of this site an injustice. The whole point of a news site is to allow readers to become informed. Wiiudaily regularly posts articles either (a) out of context or (b) with incorrect data, and when they are called on it (with proof showing they’re wrong), they still don’t offer their readers an update or print a retraction/correction. Even IGN prints retractions when they get something wrong.

“Did you try to be a writer here last year and get rejected? Lol…”

No, even though I have been writing my whole life, in many different forms. I didn’t bother trying to become a writer on this site. I could never be one sided enough to write for this site. I enjoy games on multiple platforms too much, and that would shine through in my writing. If I was to pen an article on here I would be flamed through, and through.

        • Rinslowe

          Oontz,

You know I was about to edit my entire post. Not because I didn’t think there were points to be made. But because I couldn’t be bothered to continue to anti momentum of the topic. As it didn’t really add to anything. Only subtracted.

Then you replied and well… Lol.

Hey my apologies for the “writing statement”, that was admittedly uncalled for. And I appreciate your response actually. In fact I agree with almost all of it. But, that there was100% more tolerant of the facts on your behalf than the first comment…

Although at the end of the day, calling out the site like that won’t change anything in a positive way…

“Well as Nintendo fans always say”

          You’re a Nintendo fan aren’t you?

” If I was to pen an article on here I would be flamed through, and through.”

Not because you’re not as much of a fanboy as the actual writers. But because your version of neutral is actually not that neutral. And it’s not about being a total Nintendo nut. It’s about objectivity mate. Being able to report on something without always comparing it to something you believe is better. That’s pretty fanboyish behaviour IMO….

Anyway, no hard feelings? I’d rather have just edited the whole comment to say …..nada… Than get involved but….
          Lol.

          • oontz

“Hey my apologies for the “writing statement”, that was admittedly uncalled for.”

No worries, it actually made me laugh.

“Although at the end of the day, calling out the site like that won’t change anything in a positive way…”

I disagree, hopefully someone who previous accepted the article as fact now realizes (by reading my post) that a little digging goes a long way, and you should never just accept what you are reading as truth.

            “You’re a Nintendo fan aren’t you?”

I am, and I also believe in quality. It’s something to constantly strive for not only in work but also life. I can see how what I wrote might read as sarcasm.

“It’s about objectivity mate. Being able to report on something without always comparing it to something you believe is better”

To be objective you need to make comparisons. You need to be informed in detail of that with which you’re trying to be objective about. To not draw comparisons would make you more biased then objective, no?

            “Anyway, no hard feelings?”

Never has been, never will be.

“I’d rather have just edited the whole comment to say ..nada..”

Where is the fun in that ;)

          • Rinslowe

To be truly objective is to report on the topic at hand. If you have to make comparisons, as sometimes is the case, I totally agree there – requires you to not show bias either way. To make the comparison objectively…
I don’t think you have been objective in your comparisons, let me put it that way…
Pointing out something is wrong because something else is better is not being objective.
If you prefer to disagree about bringing positive change by creating anti, then by all means. But, you would be wrong about that…
I was wrong to believe the same thing while coming at you with such a tact in the first reply. I’ll admit that openly…
Not that I’m trying to change anyone. Just saying. You’re not as objective or as neutral as you think you are…

  • David Trail

Fatal Frame exclusive to Wii U biatches!!!!!

    • Zip_Nips

      Awww, that’s adorable.

  • loco

  • brian

    Called local Sears. No discount.

  • Commander Raichu

man no one likes nintendo anymore on this site all they talk about the wii u is not doing well when nintendo has a handheld thats destroying its competition(poor vita :3) every week almost 3 to 1
    makes sense i guess

  • Mogtastic

I just called sears they said that this was a mistake and they are not $99 so…way to let me down

  • Nick Ruozzi

I just cant defend them anymore. I grew up smashing hands on the running pad and light gunning hogans alley. I love all in house Nintendo games, but one or two a year at the most is just absolute shit. Mk8 and smash bros. this year, is just sad. I’ll probably buy them, don’t get me wrong. This is the last gen for me and Nintendo, I think?!?

  • Nick Ruozzi

it is really upsetting they are so damn stubborn.

  • Dave Riem

Someone doesn’t know basic math. 399-199=200.

  • Jim Peterson

Havnt seen retailers discounting a console like this since the Dreamcast.

  • brian

The article headline and content is simply wrong. 399 minus 199 equals 200.

  • Harben Mahil

So I go to my local Sears, wait for an hour, and find one of these behind the Mario and Luigi ones. It rings up for $300. I tell the manager about this and he says he can’t do it without some official pricing. So, the next day, I call up corporate and some b*tch tells me its fake, including the recipt and the tag which had the correct item number for the product, which doesn’t show up on their computers if they search for it (only if they scan the barcode, the product shows up). I know that Sears is YMMV, but seriously? This really pisses me off.

  • Bocefus Lamar Kouame

They had hundreds of units. I went into my local sears and he searched the entire regional inventory and they are all gone now. If you were lucky enough to get one, congrats. Otherwise, keep waiting for an official drop. I’m sure it’s coming any day.
