Nintendo’s marketing campaign for Mario Kart 8 will last all year

mario kart 8 yoshi piranha plant

One of the biggest criticisms levied at Nintendo as of late is that it doesn’t do enough advertising and marketing for the games that are available on the Wii U. Nintendo UK is looking to change that, as the firm has announced that its marketing efforts for Mario Kart 8 will extend all the way to the end of this year.

Social media programs for interacting with fans are already underway, but after the launch campaign that includes TV commercials, campaigns for awareness of the game will continue until the end of the year. According to Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford, the firm will be doing everything it can to make sure fans are aware that the new Mario Kart 8 is like nothing we’ve seen before.

To herald the launch of the most hotly anticipated Wii U title to date we will have marketing activity pre-launch as well as post-launch moving through the summer and into peak season.

Of course, this campaign is only for those in the United Kingdom, where the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS continue to struggle against its competitors. Will we see something like this in the United States and the rest of Europe? We hope so.

whoa whoa whoa this cant be…Nintendo is actually trying?!, FINALLY

  • Skelterz

Damn Straight its about time they flooded television with WII U ADS!!!!!

  • darkcreap

I hope they do as they promise. I do not care too much for advertising, since I visit WiiU daily several times a day and google for WiiU news every day, but the mainstream market, that which Nintendo has to aim for, does not proactively search for WiiU information.

Mario Kart better be successful or the WiiU will have very slim chances of bumping its install base. I hope Nintendo sees this. That, and Smash Bros and maybe Zelda. It’s now or never.

    • ScrewAttack

It is most definitely crunch time. These two releases will make or break Wii U’s prospects, in the UK especially. Zelda, Metroid and the rest won’t have much chance if these two huge MP titles don’t make a noticeable difference.

      • Skelterz

What’s the betting this E3 there going to reverse tactics of last year and have a massive expensive show.

        • ScrewAttack

          They fuckin’ better!

          • Keith

Don’t you love when this little kid swears haha

          • ScrewAttack

Who the hell are you? Back under your rug you nobody.

          • Yoshifan3

i actually just turned 22, and i came to say this to you.

what a shitload of fuck you just said. grow a fucking pair.,

    • Magnus Eriksson

I really hope that they wont waste this chance.

      • thedeciderU

yes, i agree. has anyone seen or heard mk8 ads in the u.s.? i haven’t and the game releases in 4 weeks.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

Good good Nintendo. Very good idea indeed. One problem with that though……what about a world wide marketing campaign instead? That would certainly help matters even more.

    • FutureFox

      Please understand.

    • jjbredesen

I am glad that for once they are trying!

      http://media.giphy.com/media/4A49DBPhSYRTW/giphy.gif

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, in the UK at least. When this happens world wide, it’ll be better news. It’s a start.

        • jjbredesen

Yeah thats true, but they will have to work really hard to make sure everyone can see that the new Mario Kart in HD etc. is going to be out, because it is THE biggest game in terms of moving consoles of the entire generation. Really hope it works out, i don’t like all of this negative stuff, i am fed up with Nintendo, but Wii U is not a bad console when it has games.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m sure it’s not bad at all despite not having too much interest in it myself. For the sake of those who have one, Nintendo should be doing a better job making sure that games won’t take so long in development. Too many delays just makes the situation worse. More games, better sales(that would be the hope anyway).

          • Magnus Eriksson

But you would be interested if the games was there.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True. I am looking forward to games like Mario Kart 8 and Smash, but I can wait until I buy a Wii U in a year or so. I’d rather not buy a console just for two games. Did the same with my Wii in this case. :P

          • Skelterz

What about mario 3d world and pikmin 3 and donkey kong do they not interest you?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Honestly? Not really. I did like Mario platformers a lot growing up, but I feel it’s no different than Galaxy. That’s just me. Pikmin isn’t my cup of tea and Donkey Kong Country I enjoyed on SNES and N64. Eventually, something will come my way that will catch my eye.

          • jjbredesen

Donno if your a Zelda player, but that is pretty much the reason i buy Nintendo consoles, i guess this years E3 will be really important to potential buyers such as yourself.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

My brother is the bigger fan of Zelda fan. I felt the games were okay. A Star Fox or Metroid title would suffice.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah really think Metroid would fit Wii U a lot, and StarFox needs to be revived, i really loved Assault’s style and the direction it was going, it had its problems and the story was kind of bad, but i liked the dark tone, and that you could walk around and enter different vehicles.

If they could add a Mass Effect/Gear of war style cover system and lots of guns etc. i think the “pilot” mode would be really great and the arwing is already perfect, would be a fantastic multiplayer game!

          • Mario

Really? I played Assault and the story wasn’t that bad.

          • jjbredesen

Opinions :P some people thought it was ok and other hated it, but it was a great game.

          • Rinslowe

Metroid with a touch of Halo would do it for me. Massive scope, shooter based, cinematic. Yup. I’m off to play some Halo 4 darn it.

          • C4

Why not both? Metroid and StarFox, same engine for ground combat, different characters and environments of course + aerial combat for SF. Two Birdos with one stone :-)

          • Rinslowe

            I wouldn’t complain.

          • Ultrasyd

            Same here

          • Magnus Gonzalez

Personally, I am waiting until Zelda even if that means 2016 because by then Nintendo will have maximized the Wii U and most if not all of their first party games will have come out. Most likely there will have been another price drop as well.

          • jjbredesen

Smart decision, by 2016 there could even be a new Metroid of StarFox out, and the 3D Mario the are currently developing and if we are extra lucky Miyamoto new IP.

          • Skelterz

            Like a new mother game!!

          • jjbredesen

Neve going to happen :( Iwata has said so.

          • Skelterz

            Harsh!

          • Mario

            Never say never.

          • jjbredesen

Did not get a Wii before 2011 when Skyward Sword released, partly because i got Gamecube as late as 2006…, but i sort of close to lived at my friends house when brawl released. Think i stayed at his house for close to a month xD

          • Ryushi

But the Wii was in the exact opposite situation – it had more than a few good games. And you know it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Good, but very few that caught my interest. Which is why I waited it out for a few years. By that point, there was at least a good handful that I found was fun and kept me playing. More than a few good games, is subjective, but you already know that.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Im actually a bit tired of Mario Kart, Smash and the things like that. Its still about playing safe. They should revitalize some of their other franchises, like Trojan, Startropics and that kind of games. Mario and DK is over used as it is now.

          • Rinslowe

More games better sales is spot on. But not in speeding up the development process. Never that for any studio…
            They need more manpower.

          • nin-10-doughfan

when it has games!!!!!!!!!!!!!(you got that right!).

        • Carlos Webster

The thing is, they’re doing the UK first because they want to get the harder area first, then focus on easier areas for nintendo such as Japan.

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Hey JJ, could you be awesome and maybe remove the gif please? Just a bit too graphic for some users who are either too young or don’t wanna see that. Thank you :)

        • jjbredesen

Oh sorry about that :/ it is not possible to remove a gif once it is in your post :/ il keep it in mind next time though :)

Ashley took care of it! Sorry about that, I explained it in my other post :P

Its fine its just a comment and she would have had to do it anyway.

    • Logan Wayman

      YES! YES!

    • http://Nintendo.com Nintendo of America

Nintendo will be launching radio ads in the rest of the world to ensure the target audience becomes familiar with the game, we will also team up with the creators of teletubbies and have them race in karts in 1 whole episode.

We will also have a marketing campaign targeted at elder homes. Thank you for supporting Wii U.

      • Keith

You a seriously a pathetic waste of time….

    • Skelterz

My Guess is they already have something like this ready there just taking there sweet time to implement it they’ve been extremely quiet this generation so im thinking soon enough there will be some sort of explosion.

    • John Andalora

      Very true.

    • Javy G

      Not to interrupt but…

      • Sdudyoy

I have never found Navi the least bit annoying.

        • Dark-Link73

I like Navi! I actually missed her when I played Majora’s Mask. I never cared for Tatl’s bell ring.

          • Sdudyoy

Agreed, Navi is my favorite follower in Zelda, she never talks to for very long, and when she does it’s usually because you purposely decided to talk to her.

          • Dark-Link73

Or when you might be lost. ;-)

        • The Wolf 47

How bout you make commercials of of the upcoming X and Super Mario 3D World?
How bout you take that money for more games?

          • Sdudyoy

            What are you talking about?

    • Rinslowe

      This is very true.

    • ScrewAttack

They should probably put NoE in charge of NoA and NoJ :p

    • WiiUltra

      Nintendo has a marketing campaign?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Of course. Just not an impressive one.

    • Brandon

why is this push of advertising only for the uk? what a waste of time! uk is nintendo’s weakest market & it will NEVER change!

  • AlienFanatic

It kinda has to, doesn’t it? It’s not like Nintendo has anything else to talk about….

    Yes, that was mean.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Nah, that was actually true. It’s been mostly Mario Kart and Smash being talked about the most. We don’t hear much about other games.

      • thedeciderU

        what other games?

    • Magnus Gonzalez

the truth sadly. If Nintendo wants people like me to buy their system right now they can’t leave their fans waiting on these games. Isn’t Kart the only concrete date revealed so far for 2014? How sad is that? Me thinks Nintendo isn’t showing anything because they won’t be releasing many of the big titles until 2015.

      • Keith

Me thinks?? What are u 5?? Plus, your blaming Nintendo for only have 1 solid *1st party* release date. You completely forgot about the 3rd party games. Get it together kid!

        • Magnus Gonzalez

it’s people like you who seem to have lived under a rock and haven’t heard anyone ever use the term ‘methinks’ that make my day when they say things like that. Since there really isn’t anything to speak of regarding 3rd party games I have to rely on 1st party. So person who lives in their mom’s basement and never heard of methinks…get it together

          • uPadWatcher

Quit using double standards, Mag. You’re rehashing your comments as if your fucking life depends on it.

          • Magnus Gonzalez

            you know nothing uPadWatcher

      • Wilks

I really want to buy a WiiU, but there just isn’t enough titles right now to keep me satisfied. Original titles that is, not ports.

        • uPadWatcher

Thus, you’re ignoring the fact that the Wii U has over 200 games in stores and digital download… no matter what type of games– Original, exclusive, multiplatform, independent, NES, Super NES, Game Boy Advance (Turbo Grafx-16 in Japan). It’s on the U.

          • Wilks

I don’t want to replay a ton of games that are from 10 years ago or more. That’s not what your new “next gen” console should be offering.

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

I dont think you’ve been paying attention to the WIiU’s library

  • bistricky

UK gets a promise for advertising …. how about USA and Canada?

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Remains to be seen.

      • bistricky

No dis on my UK gamer friends but only a turnaround in North America (through overkill advertising) is going to save the present and legacy of the Wii U …..

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, it is a larger market than the UK, so that is true.

  • Joshua V.

What about the U.S. ? No bundles or pre-order exclusives. They should have made it so all divisions of Nintendo do this.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep. Which is why I don’t see this as huge news. This should be happening in all divisions, not just UK. Perhaps we’ll see a bundle in other regions, but I have my doubts right now.

  • Logan Wayman

Yes do it, Nintendo! VIVA EL WII U! VIVA MARIO KART!

  • FutureFox

Its really a stark contrast on PS4Daily. Over there their biggest concern is deciding which games to get and containing their enthusiasm for games (plural) on the horizon. Must be a nice problem to have.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

With all the benefits they get such as PS Plus for example, there’s little to complain about at the moment. Many are looking forward to PS Now this summer.

      • uPadWatcher

And you have to pay to play games online.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

All the great benefits outweigh the small fee. If you’re not a fan of paying for online, then stick to the Wii U or PC. It’s a matter of preference. I certainly don’t mind it, as well as most of the 7 million that own a PS4. Not to mention many more to come. Your opinion is noted, and thanks for time.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Paying for a service that should be free is bullshit.
PS+ doesnt make up for it. Especially if you’re a collector and the “free games” dont matter

    • Magnus Gonzalez

well, when you are the best selling and most powerful platform with the best games on the horizon it’s easy to see why

      • D.M.T

I wouldn’t say PS4 has the best games on the horizon but the games are pretty cool.

        • Magnus Gonzalez

COD, AC, Arkham, Destiny. You know, all the games you can only find on a PS4. None will make it to the Wii U

          • D.M.T

LOL COD made it to your best games list? Please tell me you’re joking. Plus who said that the next COD isnt coming to Wii U? And even if it doesn’t who cares? It’s a mediocre shooting game. Arkham Knight isnt coming to Wii U? Ok I’ll continue to play Arkham Origins Blackgate on my Wii U. AC was once a good franchise but now it’s dropping in quality because Ubisoft is milking it. I mean 2 AC games in 1 year? REALLY? Lol. The only game from your little list that Wii U should have but isn’t getting is Destiny. The games that are coming to Wii U are way better than those you mentioned and none will make it to PS4 like Bayonetta 2, X, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash, Sonic Boom.

          • Magnus Gonzalez

            PS4 rules

          • Jon Turner

In your opinion. I think it’s an overrated hunk of junk with few appealing titles.

          • Yoshifan3

you’re a hunk of junk with few appealing factors.

          • uPadWatcher

            PS4 is an Xbox wannabe.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

You picked an always online game and the most casual games out there to back up your arguement.

            The fucks up with that?
WiiU owners will be enjoying the 200 or so already released Wii U games by then.

And new titles like MK8, Smash, X,Fatal Frame, Yarn Yoshi, SMT x FE, Sonic Boom, Watch Dogs, Project Cars, Hyrule Warriors. Bayonetta 2, the works. WiiU got game.

325 of them. Per the Wiki

Excellent news! Can hardly wait for mariokarteight ! Please understand Mario and Mario Kart 8. :)

  • Skelterz

mario kart 8 will never surpass crash team racing.

    • lonewolf

And yet crash racing is a copycat and please dont make me laugh.

      • Skelterz

And yet you fell into my trap and made me laugh….

      • Jacob Bulkley

What about the hover carts and riding on walls? Crash Nitro Kart had that years ago.

        • lonewolf

          And f-zero also :)

          • Jacob Bulkley

CTR could be classed as a copycat yes, but, what made CTR great was the turbo boosts you could do while power sliding. I loved Mario Kart for SNES and the 64, but after CTR I can’t go back to Mario Kart because I feel bored without out the extra challenge of turbo boosting. Nitro Kart wasn’t even as good as CTR.

          • lonewolf

Yeah I know I grew up playing crash but objectively it is a copy but who cares both are games and great games at that.

  • Vriska Serket

Thats nice and all, but is there anything else being relesed until Smash bros in december or november?

    • Skelterz

Bayonetta 2 is already confirmed for Japan to be released in august or so. Likely a fall release in the west.

  • http://valid.at val berger

I guess this may be a hint at DLC coming out later this year, as this would totally be a reason to promote the game 6+ months after its launch.

  • A SNES Day Off

This is good news, but the real question is why Nintendo UK haven’t do more to push the console since launch. What makes this even more puzzling is that there was a time when I couldn’t escape original Wii commercials!

  • wober2

Thank god this is only in the UK, Reggie and Bill Trinen and so busy here in the US I wouldnt want them too stressed out… cmon NOA!

  • http://exazblog.blogspot.com/ Prince_AKR

This is going to be very interesting to see; and it makes sense.

Mario Kart is Nintendo’s BIGGEST system-seller (excluding the Wii Series. The last three Mario Karts sold in the MULTI-MILLIONS. The lowest selling entry is Super Circuit; yet it sold 5 million+ units.

Moral of the Story: – This is Nintendo’s ace card, and they’re going to use it as best as they can.

P.S ~ Proof the sales right here: http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Mario_Kart

  • kentray1985

The wiiu is only struggling because they aim ads toward family and kids then on top of that they didnt make the wiiu to compete with the competitors. The strange thing is that they actually had sell points stating that the system was more powerfull then the competitors last generation systems. That to me looks like a step back instead of trying to be on top!

  • http://www.youtube.com/zyroxz2 ZyroXZ2

I find this a BIT funny… Instead of more aggressive marketing on the games that need it, they’re putting all the money on marketing a game that basically DOESN’T need it… Who doesn’t know what Mario Kart is or how awesome it is already!?

    • Jon Turner

Regrettably, a lot of people DON’T even know about WiiU OR MK8. Period. That’s the reason the console is in trouble.

      • C4

And once people have a console they buy games. See MK Wii sales for example.

        • Jon Turner

Yes, and that’s why MK8 NEEDS to be a smash AND propel WiiU sales.

  • http://www.mgo2.com/ Neferpitou

Good. Mario Kart 8 looks incredible and more people have to see it.

  • Squid

Very good idea considering that never has a Mario kart game excited me as much as this one.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMwgly Mwgly

Good, so they actually realised, this is the only “must have” title they have announced for this year, so they have to squeeze the milk out of it.

    • Jon Turner

Not the only one. I have a feeling there will be others.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

X, Bayonetta 2 say hi as well

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMwgly Mwgly

I believe that when we get release dates. Hell. We dont even know the full name of monoliths project. Just remember – Watch_dogs was announced for 21. November 2013. in this console generation we get screwed over since the very beginning, so i simply stoped trusting those people at all.

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Well honestly nothings really dated for any system.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMwgly Mwgly

Thats why i said “in this console generation”. I would trust any of those guys. they lie just to get some extra money in the first week, just to get exposed anyway.

  • Elitepwnsface

SO NOW THEY ADVERTISE THE WII U! OH WAIT! UK ONLY……

    • uPadWatcher

North America and Japan will advertise Mario Kart 8 and the Wii U. DEAL WITH IT!

      • Elitepwnsface

Well that would be the plan i was hoping for. DERP

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Promise for advertising to the end of the year? Is Nintendo sick, or is it again a false promise? Owh wait UK only, so I have to spam-zap to the BBC network here in the Netherlands to even see any. I hope they do it for all of the regions, Europe, US and Oceania alike not just UK. But tbh not sure if a 3 quarter year long ad-spam for one game is the best choice, after a few months (possibly weeks even) it could have the opposite effect then what Nintendo wants/needs.

Looking back at the ad-spam and overhype on PS’s Final Fantasy VII back in the days it got really boring and annoying after a few weeks seeing the same ad in every single commercial-block on every channel… Again that’s just me I suppose.

  • KH

Now NoE also have to mention it.

NoJ seems to be waking up in the advertizement department, since they are advertizing all 1st party games that have recently released, from DK, to Wii Fit U, to Famicom 1+2

But the ones that worry me is NoA, they are bit slow in the advertizement department, though I guess they are waking up with recent games, but the commercials, really don’t bring any emotion, DK:TF was the only one that looked kinda cool, but Yoshi and Kirby commercials are quite bad and don’t bring any emotion to get the game, no nothing. Lets hope the MK8 one is better.

    • Jon Turner

I have a feeling NoA might do a similar technique. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Nintendo does this for all three regions. They have to.

      • ETeach

Given their glorious Tomodachi Life direct, I’d say NoA’s starting to wake up a little too. Now they just need to get advertising to everyday, non-nintendo owners.

  • Jon Turner

YES, Nintendo YES, yes, and YES! DO THIS for all regions and you’ll have the console skyrocket to success for sure!

  • FlashFan207

Any news on the the rumored demo?

  • Old School

    All this time wasted!!

So many people have been unsure of what system to buy and if they advertised months ago it would have helped move Wii U units. Idiots

Where the fuck is battle mode previews?! People have been already bought PS4’s and Xbox One’s

  • Billy_Perry

What marketing? I live in the UK and still have not seen a single advert for the Wii U OR MK8, what are they doing?

    • http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008SRISGU#reader_B008SRISGU Adam Howell

They advertise during kids tv. If you had young kids you’d probably see a few.

      • Petri

They’ve advertised Wii U with Skylanders here, other than that, I haven’t seen, and yes, ads are during kids programming.
Though lots of mega markets and some game stores has a stand.
Often see people playing it on the market I frequently shop at.

Nintendo got one thing that I want to happen down

    • cool1706

The other is a miiverse aop

      • cool1706

        App

  • YiyeUniverseMB

Because of lackluster previous efforts, this is excellent news! You know, I would even have been happy with the title:
“Nintendo’s marketing campaign for Mario Kart 8 will…exist…”

    • Rinslowe

“”Nintendo’s marketing campaign for Mario Kart 8 will…exist…”
      XD

  • Rom/Ram Paul 2016

It was a mistake for them to assume they could just ride off the momentum of the Wii in the first place.

  • Wilks

Sucks that Mario Kart 8 isn’t coming to 3DS.

    • D.M.T

Just get a Wii U. The 3DS already has a Mario Kart game.

    • ETeach

Eh, that’s what Mario Kart 7 is for. They need to start selling home consoles eventually. At least Smash is dual platform.

    • starwars360

MK 7 in 2012 for 3DS. So get it if u want to or getting MK 8 for Wii U and enjoy the game. Mario Kart series always fun and addiction. If u don’t like Mario Kart console series and not want get MK 7 for 3DS (or already had) then you have wait for next gen Nintendo handheld. You have 3 choice.

I knew you unsure Wii U. But just get this game if you can’t wait for next MK series. But remember Wii U is HD system, MK 8 allow you choose either GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Mario Kart Racing Wheel with Wii Remote or Wii Remote. Up to you which best suit to play with. I will pick Wii U Pro Controller and using GamePad for during game or main menu and go to Miiverse to share with gamers about game etc..

I recommend get MK 8 for Wii U because it is going be epic.

Trust me, I owned XB1, Wii U, PS4 and 3DS. My opinion PS4 is best system in this generation but actually Wii U is great system for reasons and yes some other reasons got issues.

Just more important is enjoy the games without worry about system or funny name system like me. :)

  • Nathan C.

Okay, the marketing campaign will last all year, but will it be good?

    Quality over quantity, Iwata. :/

  • wiimenonowiiu

The problem is they just need to advertise the system period

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

      taht wont get em anywahere

  • http://standardx.newgrounds.com/ lilmc01

To eveyone who says Mario Kart 8 is not going to save the Wii U.

  • Dark-Link73

I’m yet to see a Mario Kart 8 commercial on TV. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Social Media only reaches the few fans who FOLLOW Nintendo. Television reaches just about EVERYBODY!

  • FutureFox

Wonder if Nintendo will cheap out and not enlist services of Leo Burnett. I just learned this was the firm Nintendo used on many of its previous campaigns, including Wii’s “Wii would like to play.”

  • Jim Peterson

So basically theyre confirming what we all knew, that the second half of the year will be as empty as the first and theyre going to be milking Mario Kart for all its worth. Awesome.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Are you fucking serious? Man what are you doing on this site? Lmao nintendo has 10 games without dates already announced and more to come at E3 FFS

      • Jim Peterson

lol, I can give you at least 20 big AAA titles coming to the other platforms before the end of the year and theyre only six months old.Nintendo has ten games NOT confirmed to be coming this year to their almost two year old console. And only two are big name. You are an idiot if you dont see the problem there.

And why do I come to this site? Because Ive been playing Nintendo since long before you were born (which going by the way you write was sometime during the Wii era) and Im angry at what the clowns in charge have turned the company into and because I have a tiny hope that one day I’ll come to this site and there will be some good news that makes me feel that my Wii U wasnt a total waste of money.

But if you are happy with a company that was once the dominant force in gaming becoming a joke platform, ignored by most, which seems only interested in the casual gaming market and which has about 1/10th of the games coming for it that rival platforms do, by all means continue drinking the Kool Aid and fighting the good fight.

  • Winston_from_the_Ministry

“Nintendo 3DS continue to struggle against its competitors”

Wait, what now? The 3DS is struggling?!?

    • Petri

Wait, what now? The 3DS has competitors?

      • William Cole

        That sounds correct

  • sd

May as well adertise the game all year. Its not like they have anything else coming out to focus on until later in the year.

    • David Trail

You don’t know that. Ever heard of a surprise? Sonic Boom, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Watch Dogs, Project Cars, X and SSB should all be out this year.

We just don’t have exact dates as of yet.

      • sd

A release date for Hyrule warriors has not been announced and won’t be before the end of the year. Watchdogs is delayed on the Wii U compared to every other platform (not good). Bayonetta 2 is being released in Japan this summer and they have already stated that a western release will not be until after this. SSB should be released after summer or christmas.

Sega tend to release game on Nintendo Systems October/November so I expect sonic then.

X is not being hyped by Nintendo so I doubt it will be this year, the game looks amazing, but I expect it to be released next year now.

Project cars is multiplatform and won’t sell the wii U console.

The fact is, by summer (the first 8 months or so of this years), Nintendo will only have released 2 1st party games. No other game has a release date. I have been a Wii U owner since launch and have become very familiar with what they so and what they do.

    • Jim Peterson

They have something coming later in the year?

      • sd

LOL. I would at least expect smash Bros this year. .

  • sanic gtgfast

we’ve playing a lot of ppl from the uk then

  • SolarShane13

Wii U Daily…. ENOUGH with the misleading titles. Nintendo of Europe IS NOT Nintendo. So no, Nintendo isn’t gearing up it’s marketing campaign. A single region is.

This site is getting as bad as IBTimes.
