Advance Wars now, Fire Emblem next.

  • WiiUisgaming

I would like to play Majora’s Mask on my Wii U, but Nintendo is not releasing N64 games :s

    • Pablo Lavín

NOT YET. They said, first GBA then N64, it’s that. And theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen DS.

      • Kyle

Since when has N64 ever been announced?

        • WiiUisgaming

Never, that is why I am sad

      • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

        Then GCN.

        • Nate

I don’t know if it’s been officially announced or not. But http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/downloads/virtual-console says N64 games are coming. And that seems official to me.

          • http://valid.at val berger

would be interesting when they mentioned GCN games as I am kinda sure they did. Waiting desperately for Viewtiful Joe …

        • Makakilo_Man

          Then good WiiU games.

      • Fred

when did they say “then N64″ I’d love to read that!!!

    • Leo

I still think that they have the Majora’s Mask remake in the works for the 3DS. Just you wait and see.

      • greengecko007

If Majora’s Mask were to be remade I’d like to see it on the Wii U in stunning graphics. I’m tired of these remakes with slightly better graphics and no extra content, it’s a ripoff.

        • Fred

but they already have the assets for it on 3DS (Ocarina of time looks really good on 3DS by the way) so doing Majora’s Mask on 3DS would be much cheaper and easier

          • greengecko007

I don’t want Nintendo to keep turning out low budget games. I want them to spend more money and make a better game. I won’t pay $40 for Majora’s Mask on the 3DS with slightly better graphics than the N64, but I would definitely pay $60 for a remake on the Wii U that uses a lot of the Wii U’s graphical abilities.

          • Fred

I don’t think I could bring myself to pay $60 for Majora’s Mask. I haven’t played it yet, because I don’t think that one is my style. That being said, if they release it on 3DS for $35 I’m sold $40 I’ll consider it Wii U at $50 I think I”m probably out. My Wii U time is much more full and limited. Not only do I not have a lot of time on the console I’m playing Xenoblade right now and as soon as I”m done I have Wind Waker HD, Wonderful 101, 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Super MEtriod, Earthbound, CastleStorm. I own all of those games and will buy X DAY 1. Majora’s Mask maybe could get priority over Super Metroid and Earthbound, but not any of the others so I just don’t think it’ll get played on Wii U. On 3DS though, when we go on road trips my wife drives and I pull out the 3DS so it would have a sporting chance on that system.

          • greengecko007

I can understand your reasoning. Still, I think it’s better suited for consoles, and I’d rather pay more money for a quality game. They really need to ditch the “save at bird statues ” mechanic. I was apalled when I saw that in A Link Between Worlds.

          • Fred

Yes there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to save anytime anywhere. That’s one of the reasons I’d prefer a cheaper 3DS version I can close it-suspend play anytime anywhere

          • http://valid.at val berger

actually checkpoint based games are there for a reason too. in some cases, gamedesigners are able to control some sort of challenge by placing or not placing checkpoints. And especially the player’s ability to always save/load makes challenging sections kinda easy. I’m not sure what I prefer for Zelda, I guess I also tend to be able to save whenever I want as Zelda’s gamestructure just doesn’t fit to checkpoint-based game design. I’m just saying that these decisions are made quite consciously.

          • Fred

My issue is I can’t often sit for 1-2 hours uninterrupted like I used to now with a baby, a2 year old and a4 year old I’m constantly pulled away. I’ve really learned to appreciate the games that let me save any time cause interruptions are part of the gaming world for me now. With 3ds games I just close it, but with the Wii U I don’t want to suspend it because if I can’t go back soon it’ll get used for Netflix, Hulu, or BYUTV and my game will be gone

          • http://valid.at val berger

As I got a little child on my own here I totally agree on that =)
One designflaw of the WiiU’s gamepad is that there’s no possibility of activating standby. you can only deactivate the screen but that’s far too complicated to reach. so yeah, solutions addressing these issues would be very welcome and what you need is more like a multitasking-idle mode (or something like that) which doesn’t necessarily have to replace the checkpointsystem. When I’m playing a game on my computer, it also runs in the background all the time so I can switch back and forth playing, working, doing whatever. Sure, a WiiU might be focused on gaming but it would be cool if games would be able to get into some idle state or something like that. I guess one of the main problems with the WiiU is, that Nintendo opened somehow a pandoras box with it as it just leaves so damn much room for stuff we’d like to see there. Beginning with a 720p-gamepad screen =)

        • http://valid.at val berger

agree. a remake would be better than just a HD version. they could just sell the N64 version via VC and offer a great remake. But I’m not sure if MM was that successful to go down such a road. I mean compared to other Zelda games.

          • greengecko007

I think it could be given another chance on the Wii U, just like how Wind Waker was initially unpopular due to its graphics. I think that if they actually took the time to better the game, rather than just release a marginally better version, it would appeal to a lot more people.

Like I said in a different post, the mechanic of saving at a bird statue is absurd, and a remake of MM should allow saving at any point in the game as a bare minimum. At this day and age, autosaving should be a standard option for players.

They updated the sailing and the triforce quest in WW HD, so I think something like that is definitely within Nintendo’s capabilities.

    • Robinpreet Sidhu

Not only would I like to see a Majora’s Mask HD remake, I would like to see Star Wars rogue Squadron remade, from a new studio! Now that would be awesome!

  • Adrian Brown

    Pretty solid week actually

    • BIG Franky

      yep… its about time.

    • greengecko007

It might be too early to claim the great revival of the virtual console, but if they can do releases like this on a consistent basis then the service will be infinitely better.

  • Fred

    Advance Wars here I come.
    Metroid Fusion, I’m considering it
Drop Blok U-I had no interest, but how can I turn down a .99 cent Wii U game? If enough people buy it maybe this price point will appeal to more developers.

    • BIG Franky

I bought blok drop u for $1.99 …lets just say u get what you pay for. not sure its even worth a dollar. but I still encourage everyone to please buy it for no other reason than to support the kid that built and released it all on his own… good for him.

  • NintendoFan

So in the UK, GBA games are gonna be £6.29 or something, which is over $10. I really don’t know why Nintendo thinks people are gonna pay that for a handheld game when you could easily get it on an emulator…

    • steve

      the console versions aare better!

      • NintendoFan

But are they really £6.29 better?

        • Robinpreet Sidhu

Well they will run way smoother!

        • steve

          i definitly think so.

    • readypembroke

Four words: Screw piracy and emulators!

    • ScrewAttack

A fiver would’ve have been nicer. £6.29, such a random and unpleasant amount. I’ve paid it for Advanced Wars and Fusion as they’re worth it, but my GBA VC buying will now be limited to titles I know are worth the cash/sales. SM RPG will have to wait.

    • Tim van Broekhoven

In Holland GBA games are € 7,- wich is £5.80 It’s kind of stupid there are such differences…

  • Shagrath1983

Beaten Advanced Wars twice now but gonna have to buy this gem again.

    • Fred

I’m with you, I still have my copy, but I think I’ll end up buying it too (I almost did this morning till I saw Wonderful 101 is just $30 on the eShop I can’t turn that down)

  • Pablo Lavín

Nintendo Knows that Wii U is for RPG’s.

    • The Clockwork Being

Yep thats why we need info on Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem!

      • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

        at E3 ;)

      • Ducked

Also why Kingdom Hearts III needs to be on Wii U

    • Donaald

Seems more platform-friendly than anything else

    • greengecko007

      Where are these RPGs?

      • Capt. Smoker

My thoughts exactly, I haven’t seen any… not even one, I always thought Sony was the company that heavily focused in this area hence the amount of sucess they have in Japan

        • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Secret of Mana, Shining Force I & II, Dragon Warrior I & II…c’mon NES, take my money for chrissakes.

WTH is Advance Wars anyway? Metroid Fusion? huh?

          • Capt. Smoker

Old ass games for other systems don’t count

          • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Fair enough, but the ones I mentioned aren’t even released, which ALSO stinks.

  • darkcreap

I am waiting for Yoshi’s Island, since they will not release the SNES version due to the SuperFX chip issue. Nevertheless, I must say I don’t like the yoshi voice samples. I think they screwed that part. I much preferred the SNES part in which Yoshi does not have any kind of voice.

What I don’t like either are the prices: 7€ for a handheld game? Come on. I will make an exception for the Yoshi’s Island port, but just for it and counted others. Nintendo should really seek another model to exploit virtual console. It is good that they want to give value to the virtual console, but prices could be lower.

    • triplegamer3K .

i really doubt the wii u has super fx chip emulation problems.didn’t the wii have yoshi’s island and starfox?

      • readypembroke

        nope

      • darkcreap

The Wii didn’t have Yoshi’s Island. If it had, I would have downloaded it. Regarding Starfox, no, I think it didn’t have. It had Starfox 64, but that is because Starfox 64 didn’t use the Super FX chip as the original Starfox does.

  • Leo

Metroid Fusion is a must have!!!

    • Robinpreet Sidhu

Is it good? I have not really touched the Metroid scene, my friend told me it was like Mario and The Legend of Zelda series combined with aliens and no text boxes.

      • Leo

Yes, its very good! It goes further on the Metroid 2D chronology saga, its very well done and definitely a must have! In my opinion the graphics aren’t as good as Super Metroid, but its a great experience for the handheld and one of the finest GBA games ever made!

        • Michael Ocampo

The graphics aren’t as good as Super Metroid!?!? I like that game a lot and I’ve beaten both but Metroid Fusion looks better than Super Metroid! Unless if you mean the art style than that’s different.

          • Leo

Yes i meant art style. You are right.

        • tronic307

The graphical FX are better in Fusion; it’s just blockier looking because GBA.

      • MetroidZero

Fusion is good, but I prefer Zero Mission more. Hope ZM is released on the virtual console too.

      • ETeach

Your friend gave you the worst description of Metroid ever.

  • Nope.avi

OH MY GOD! More then 1 eshop download at once!

    Weekly European e-shop forecast:
    Next Thursday, you can download:

    Wii U-Retail download:
    – LEGO The Hobbit (€49.99/£39.99) – Finally, lego bricks and stinky, hairy feet combine on your gamepad!

    Wii U-Download only:
    – Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition (€19.99/£15.99) – this console HD edition of the 3DS/Vita game adds new maps, batsuits and graphics

    Wii U-VC:
    – Kirby & the amazing mirror (GBA, €6.99/£6.29), this is one of the most layered of
kirby’s adventures – offering a true metroidvania-style world. The original GBA
release had a big emphasis on multiplayer – so it is unfortunate this is not
supported by VC – still one of the best 2D Kirby experiences available
    – Warioware, Inc.: Minigame mania (GBA, €6.99/£6.29), this microgame collection spawned an entire series of wacky, silly, quick and addictive games. Losing it’s portable nature, I must say I recommend the multiplayer update that was released for the gamecube over this one.

    3DS-Retail download:
    – LEGO the Hobbit (€39.99/£34.99) – Portable hairy lego brick feet! So precious!
    – Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst (€11.99/£10.79) – this digital release of the budget-priced 3DS adventure/puzzle game plays as a cross between classic point ‘n click and a hidden object game.
    – Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove (€11.99/£10.79) – this digital release of the
budget-priced 3DS adventure game ALSO plays as a cross between classic point ‘n
click and hidden object game. What a surprise.

    3DS-Download only:
    – Governor of Poker (€4.99/£4.49) If you look at the title and imagine ruling a town where you can poke anything and everything, you’ll be disappointed. Instead – this
game lets you play Texas Hold’em poker in various environments.

    Wii U:
    – Ducktales (From €14.99/£11.99 to €7.49/£5.99)
