Nintendo: we’ll introduce multiple new Wii U games at E3

wii-u-e3-2014

While Nintendo will be showing off several Wii U games at E3, including Super Smash Bros U, company president Satoru Iwata confirmed in a recent Q&A that they’ll unveil a bunch of brand new Wii U games to E3 as well.

Iwata did not go into specifics as to what those Wii U games might be, he only said that the games are “designed to introduce players to the value of the Wii U GamePad”. Some of the rumored Wii U games for E3 include a new Zelda and Metroid game.

He added that all of the new Wii U games are developed in-house at Nintendo with their first party teams, and all of them are overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto. Iwata said that the Wii U titles at E3 will represent games that are “near completion” and games that are also “in early development”.

Hopefully Nintendo will have some amazing titles that can generate some buzz about the Wii U. It’s not longer enough to make good games for current Wii U owners. Because of the state of the Wii U, the games have to attract new buyers to the system as well. We’re sure the upcoming Mario Kart 8 will do just that, and hopefully, so will the games announced at E3.

Recently, there have been rumors of a redesigned Wii U at E3, but Nintendo quickly squashed those rumors.

What Wii U games would you like Nintendo to announce at E3? Share your thoughts in the comments section!

I’m going to make a guess that there’s going to be Zelda, Mario & Metroid. Other than that I’ll let them surprise me.

    • 504HotBoy

I think they may be a StarFox game. I can’t help but think that Code Name: Strike Team Eliminating The Alien Menace is StarFox. Considering Fox McCloud has a strike team.

When I saw the title and read the contents; I honestly thought this was one of Ashley’s articles….

KINSLEY IS ACTUALLY OPTIMISTIC?! No negative spin? No sarcastic remarks? First Pachter speaks nice of Nintendo and now this? The world will implode…

OT: Considering the amount of times I’ve seen people saying that the Wii U Gamepad is “unnecessary” – I’m really excited to see this

    • matthew garcia

Seems like they should have a press conference for this I’m not sure why there not doing that. You would think if it was really exciting they would want to announce it to the world. Instead there gonna stream it. What are they so embarrassed about not to have a press conference?

      • Mario

Oh well. Hope they surprise us at least.

        • matthew garcia

With a press conference I’m sure they would get the news out to more people

          • Officer Raichu

no matter what your still watching everything online so to me it doesnt make a difference it just doesnt have that reaction (though the media today didnt do kh3 justice reaction wise)

          • matthew garcia

A loud press conference room with hollering and cheers builds more hype

          • Officer Raichu

except the media arent cool with reactions anymore
they didnt do kh3 or halo 5 or even dk country returns(hasnt had a country game in like 20 years) justice justice reaction wise

          • matthew garcia

I remember PlayStation 4 press conference when they revealed it was gonna cost 399. People were cheering there ass off. It seemed to have had a strong effect

          • Officer Raichu

            that was a pathetic reaction
i want a REAL reaction like the ones from 2004
the media are boring theses days
            for example twilight princess reveal
You could hear the screaming outside
some had to go to the hospital
some were crying so much for joy
            thats a real reaction

          • matthew garcia

Say whatever u want but ps4 sold a million on day one. Seems that reaction had a little more influence

          • matthew garcia

Also that was a million in north America alone

          • Officer Raichu

i say the adverting was more affective
coming from a former micrsoft fanboy (ive gone more “i love all consoles now”)

        • SP-937-215

My store of fucks to give for Nintendo is at an all time low. But.. well I guess I’ll reach in there and grab one out just because it’s E3.

      • Capt. Smoker

Most likely, they have no games and will only release new video footage of announced games, I fully expect a letdown followed by a Nintendo Direct of Iwata’s new and improved sliding bow of please understand. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EFcTm97zKUQ/UsMlJUyZOKI/AAAAAAAABnU/-IfazJNcmek/s1600/Sliding+Grovel.gif

i don’t think that they will show cool games.

          no pierdo las esperanzas

      • sd

This is where the problem lies. If it is your only console then it must be really frustrating wondering what will happen in the long run. Lets hope they finally do something great with the Wii U and get people interest. It doesnt need to outsell the xbox one of PS4 at the end of its life, but it does need to outsell the gamecube.

        • http://exazblog.blogspot.com/ Prince_AKR

Just keeping up with the games on my Wii U is an issue. Money doesn’t grow on trees; therefore I can relate to what he’s talking about.

Consoles are a big-investment; so anyone who can genuinely play the multi-card should be commended. But alas; not only must I find the money to buy the PS4 or XBO; I still have to find even more money to pay for extra controllers, games, and online-connectivity. Not a very glamorous trial to get a system which has games that have yet to interest me.

          • sd

I agree. For me I am lucky that I can own the other consoles. But for many you only get one console each generation. If that is the case it is a big investment and you just want to see success. This has not happened up to now for the Wii U. But I still hope sales do take off ( mario Kart should help in the short term). The Wii U has given me some amazing games to play (Pikmin 3, Mario 3D, Mario etc). All they need to do is be a little bit more regular with the game releases. It doesn’t need to be a roaring success, but to do worse than the game cube ( which was a great console) is not good.

        • Robinpreet Sidhu

Wow, I thought your comment would be a hate comment at first glance.

          • sd

I think the Wii u is the best console released by nintendo in years. For me it is just so frustrating that they have mismanaged it. Lets hope they finally do something great with it at E3. At the end of the day, while I am fed up with the state of the Wii U I am keeping it for when those amazing moments ( like pikmin 3) in gaming happen. Mario Kart and X are 2 games that will be as good as anything else available on any console this generation.

It does help that It is not my only console though.

      Patcher and Kinsley optimistic? Dang

  • DK_Hadouken

Optimistic Kinsley, this way comes… ?

  • Decker Shado

What would I like to see? Hmmm….

A big open-world sandbox RPG in the vein of Bethesda’s work, except for two major differences… One, not so damn buggy, and two, online/local co-op enabled.

Now with my actually has a legitimate chance glasses on… let’s say Metroid.

    • condor87z

      That would be epic.

    • jjbredesen

Well Aounoma really enjoyed Skyrim and said he wanted to use elements from it in Zelda U, such as a large open world.

  • Zakariyya Al-Quran

Give me Featured comment and I will post a video on YouTube of me playing New Super Mario Bros U. with my feet and defeat the final Boss and ill comment the link on the next article

Would love to see some rpgs shown.

    • AlienFanatic

I’d love a new Paper Mario. But do you know what would IMMEDIATELY vault the Wii-U to the “must-have” list of virtually every current and ex-Nintendo fan boy? A Pokémon RPG. Nintendo and Game Freak CAN do it, but will they?

      • MujuraNoKamen

It’s the logical thing to do so probably not. Such is Nintendo’s mentality :(

      Hyped

      • http://valid.at val berger

Don’t be too hyped. Nintendo is quite good into building up some hype and delivering the very least possible to get that presentation over with. I’d be very pleased and surprised if it’s anything different this time, but you shouldn’t forget that the term ‘new games’ also relies to some Dr. Luigi-style game that may be nice but isn’t really interesting in the way it should be. I’d expect like 3 good games and quite a bunch of stuff I don’t really care about which would be OK but nothing to get me hyped. There have been presentations where Nintendo really managed to drop my jaw, for example back when Twilight Princess got unveiled for the first time with that Steve-Jobs-style ‘One-More-Thing’ moment at the end of that presentation. This was really awesome and nobody would’ve expected this but this only works well with some real presentation with live audience who cheers and cries.

        • https://www.imthegoddamnbatman.com Gamer Mania

          You mean like Microsoft?

          • http://valid.at val berger

hehe I basically don’t mean any of the competition. Actually I don’t really know Microsoft’s keynotes too well. I watched their XBone-keynote and thought it’d be utterly boring, but still I’d prefer that over some digital presentation as it still creates far more empathy than Nintendo’s dull E3-direct-keynote. But I don’t wanna go to deep into prejudging them as I think with their Mario Kart 8 Direct they managed to get the most out of this format and really pointed out the advantages of having a video to reveal their information. It was quite funny to watch and full of goofy trash, so if Nintendo would make stuff like that out of their E3 direct, I could live with that. But even then I’d claim a real presentation with these elements would still be more fun and very Nintendoish. Imagine a live keynote that’s really unleashed from that whole corporate bullshit you use to see on the MS and Sony-side full of Iwata going bananas and supertrashy interruptions from some Newscast-messages and so on. It would really be awesome, maybe next time.

        • gerome

what if they present zelda wii u. i mean the next main entry in the series, not the side game hyrule warriors. and what if it’s as epic looking and exciting as twilight princess… i hope so.

          • http://valid.at val berger

I personally didn’t like Twilight Princess, but that’s just me ;)
But yeah, I am actually very confident that they’re gonna unveil Zelda as Nintendo pointed into this year’s E3’s direction more than once. They mentioned how they wanted to already show it, but decided to wait a bit longer. I’d be very disappointed if we wouldn’t see this game although I’m not expecting that much. Actually what I’m really expecting is Zelda + 2 other exciting new games. As Nintendo announced to not just show stuff that’s nearly finished but also games in early production stages, chances are quite good that I’m gonna be somehow satisfied :)
And if they manage to disappoint me, then I guess WE ARE FINALLY DOOMED ! ! ! !

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Aonuma confirmed that Zelda Wii U will definitely be shown off at E3 2014.

BUT WII U HAZ NO GAMEZ!!

  • Nostalgic_Chaos

Ah, the excitement. It’s a good year. Mario Kart 8 in almost just two weeks, then only several days after it’s release, E3.

I would gladly even take a brand new Mario Game. Let it have some online play or something. For me, 3D World was just fun. It wasn’t earth shattering at all. I think any long time Nintendo fan would say the same. Although it was 3D, the gameplay itself didn’t feel that different to previous titles. Unfortunately, I sold the game in the end. Give us something with the same epic feeling that Mario 64 gave us. Please.

Imagine a Metroid with some kind of online co-op or something.

I get a feeling that we’re going to see some sequels to really old games, maybe to games that we haven’t played since the N64, or even the Snes. That would be pretty cool.

They’ll probably announce a Pokemon Wii U title. I haven’t played a Pokemon game in years and I don’t really go ham for it like I used to, but if they announced something for the Wii U, I’d be all over it.

    • jjbredesen
    • Shota

      ^^^this

    • JB

Totally agree. Though I don’t think any Mario game can give us that epic Mario 64 feeling. It was the very first Mario in 3D… There was something truly magical about Mario emerging from that warp pipe and everything that follows it… Though a Mario 64 style game in HD would be pretty kick ass!!

      • Nostalgic_Chaos

Yeah, I agree. Just even for the fact that it was the very first Mario game in 3D did something to the gaming world. Things were never the same again. I remember being a kid and seeing the commercial on TV for Super Mario 64, and I literally couldn’t believe me eyes. It was the best thing I had ever seen. I couldn’t get my head around it. I thought Super Mario World was the best thing since sliced bread, then seeing Mario 64 made me realise that Nintendo is unstoppable. To ever top Mario 64, they’d have to completely revolutionise the platform genre again.

Maybe a mix up of Super Mario Bros 3, Mario World and Mario 64 all in one game, with added RPG elements as well?

        • JB

Man that would be some game!!!

        • droolface

          MarioRPG for snes?

        • Scott

Basically that sounds like 3D World + RPG elements.

One of the things I honestly believe is that when Nintendo moved to HD they weren’t quite prepared all the way. Which is pretty much public knowledge. I think they released the Wii U a year earlier, to beat Sony & Microsoft to the market for whatever reasons. I said that to say this. The games that’s been released so far, were games to get them familiar with the development of HD. If you look at Nintendo history you know with each new console they reinvent Mario and their other franchises. For example Super Mario 64 to Super Mario Sunshine to Super Mario Galaxy. Ocarina Of Time to Wind Waker to Skyward Sword, and so on and so on. All these titles had different styles of gameplay, among other things. With the Wii U, yeah sure people may have looked at it as they were playing it safe, by releasing games that have sold large units. But another look and basically New Super Mario Bros. U is the NSMB Wii, just in HD, Super Mario 3D World is a HD advance version of Super Mario 3D Land, DKCTF is a HD version of DKCR and so on and so on. It’s pretty obvious that these games were made to get them use to the development of HD, as well as the Wii U hardware. To know what works, what limits they have and what can they implement. I know going forward now, we’re going to see that new Mario, the next evolution of Zelda, as well as new takes on existing franchises and introducing us to new franchises. That’s why im looking forward to E3.
My predictions (as well as hopes) on what they will announce and show, The Legend Of Zelda of course, A new Mario game, X (will have a final name and release date), Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warrriors, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, New Pokémon game (not sure what type it may be), a new Metroid or StarFox (maybe both), Yarn Yoshi, new Fatal Frame, A new game from Platinum Games, confirming Devil’s Third being Wii U exclusive, Miyamoto’s new IP, JRPG from Mistwalker (wishful thinking, but possible, as they showed interest in the Wii U), Super Smash Bros, some unexpected titles (maybe a new Eternal Darkness), a few 3rd Party surprises and tons of indies.

    • Lilburrito

As a single player experience, I wouldn’t consider 3D World earth shattering either. But as a multiplayer experience, my gosh does everything feel right at home!

      • Nostalgic_Chaos

I dunno. I used to play 3D World with my ex girlfriend all the time. It really just felt like any other co-op game. Overall, just everything about the game wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be, and I kinda regret buying the game the first day it came out at full price.

It takes a lot more to quench my gaming needs now. I’ll be much more careful in the near future to just rush and buy games, because lately, I’ve just been selling every Wii U game I’ve bought so far.
I’m pretty sure that starting with Mario Kart 8, things will get better. A game I know that I wont need to ever sell, because of it’s timeless re-playability.

        • Lilburrito

Oh, that’s a bit disappointing to hear but to each his own! I really do hope things get better though, I’ve honestly REALLY enjoyed all of the first party/exclusive titles I’ve bought so far. But a majority of them are just so niche, they lack the sort of widespread appeal that something like Mario Kart and Smash Bros has. But I dunno, I’ll put my faith in Nintendo and see what they come up with at E3 ( I expect to “not” be disappointed this time )

    • Willie Crespo

  • Niknique

And here I thought I should be worried about Nintendo :) Well maybe I am still worried but I have high hopes that E3 will change my thoughts.

  • Potemkin

I seriously hope they decide to show something new and not games we know that will launch later this year.

  • JB

Do I detect Nintendo giving a s*** about Wii U now? You know they’re serious when they have Shiggy overseeing game development. I hope one of them is his new IP and I hope that the rest of them aren’t throwaway games, kind of like how NintendoLand sort of was (though I personally loved it!)

    • The Clockwork Being

Well Miyamoto is working on his own new I.P.

  • Helbert Pina

A Retro-developed Metroid game would make me cry tears of joy. Anything StarFox-related would be really cool too. And maybe a WiiU Kid Icarus game, great potential there.

  • The Clockwork Being

          • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

yeah I suppose. I read in an interview quite a few months back that unless they do something cool with Wii U for a full Pokemon game, they’d stick with handhelds for the future since that is the home of Pokemon. I’m sure if you Google you’ll find it.

          • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

            I’ll look it up :3

  • DoctorWily

Iwata said that the Wii U titles at E3 will represent games that are
“near completion” and games that are also “in early development”

So this quote basically leaves room for any and every game that Nintendo is currently working on. Well hey. I’m ready for the Hype Train!

  • darkcreap

“He added that all of the new Wii U games are developed in-house at Nintendo with their first party teams, and all of them are overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto.”

So they are taking it seriously. Good.

    • 504HotBoy

Most definitely. Damn E3 can’t come soon enough. Totally hyped!!!!!

    • thedeciderU

i really hope they hammer the system with games over the next 12 months. we need it!

  • Vorpal Blade

Why do I get the feeling that I won’t be impressed at E3 by Nintendo?

    • Nostalgic_Chaos

I think you should be excited. Nintendo have no choice now but to bring it. They know this too. It’s either all or nothing now.

I have a gut feeling that they’re even going to give us beyond our expectations this year. Last year, they didn’t have much to show, and I think we all knew that was going to happen. It was just a warm up, but now…………… It’s on.

      • Vorpal Blade

I want to be excited, but there’s still that doubt that overwhelms me. Just thinking about them going “all out” mixed with my “beyond expectations” would be them saying that Zelda U, Bayonetta 2, X, Smash Bros. and all that good jazz will all come out tomorrow. Which won’t be happening :P

        • Nostalgic_Chaos

          Haha.
Yeah I understand your pain bro. I bought the Wii U when it first came out, AND still, even till this day I feel like Mario Kart 8 is going to be my first proper Wii U game. So, myself and many other have felt like they’ve had a console for two years with no games on it. I’ve already had Pikmin 3 and 3D World, but they’re no Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Zelda. All of the Wii U games I’ve had so far I’ve sold, because they don’t give me that longevity, they didn’t quench my gaming thirst.

Good things come to those who wait. They’ll show Zelda this E3 and that will be enough for me, even just to see it. To taste it. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros for 3DS will tide me over until more big games come out. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros 3DS are games that I’d be playing online all the time. I’m sure they’ll announce other games coming out before Zelda as well. Apparently X is coming out in Japan this summer, so it can’t be that long for Europe and America.

Don’t worry. Things are going to get good real soon.

          • Vorpal Blade

I just got my Wii U like a few months ago (Wind Waker bundle) and haven’t really touch it for anything else but WW and 3D World. Idk about Mario Kart, I might get it at a later date, it doesn’t really call out to me, plus MK7 left a bad taste in my mouth :P

Smash Bros is the sole purpose to me getting the Wii U really, so that game for the 3DS will last me till the Wii U version which should hopefully last till X then Zelda U (my game plan). Just a little disappointed Midna is an assist trophy and not a playable character.

I was hoping they were gonna get soon good since they launched the system :P

          • 504HotBoy

Totally agree! I love your way of thinking!

Super Luigi-Kart 8, Luigi Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Luigi 3D World, Wind Waker HD: Luigi Edition. Please understand that Year of Luigi was a fail so we’ll try again.

    • Brandon

metroid and f-zero please! I could care less for starfox due to a bad selling remake!

  • Frankie

Creating titles that use show the value of the gamepad is a bad move. The gamepad is holding the system back. Nintendo could release 100 games that make the gamepad shine but it would not save the system.

    • 504HotBoy

I disagree. I think the gamepad can enhance the gameplay, depending on how it’s used in games. Games like Zombi U, The Wonderful 101, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, etc., enhanced the experience of the games. If they can do that and it works perfectly, than you would be only able to get that type of experience in playing a Wii U game.

      • Frankie

You are 100% right, but that is not what people want. Look at the Wii, a lot of games only possible with the motion controls, but in the end gamers did not want that. The Wii was a success but it was a fad, Nintendo needs to win gamers back and the gamepad is not going to do it.

        • uPadWatcher

If you don’t like games using the gamepad, why the hell are you bitching about it. It’s essential to use the gamepad … especially when playing games, chat with friends on Miiverse, etc. Deal with it.

          • Frankie

lol you are an idiot. I never said I do not like the gamepad. I do enjoy using the gamepad, but it is not something that is going to sell consoles. You are ignorant. Go curse and whine somewhere else.

        • 504HotBoy

I understand what you’re saying. But the Gamepad is a regular controller, just with a touch screen(some would say a handheld). The second screen just add more options to playing. The Wii nunchuck and Wii Remote controller is no where near set up like a regular controller. The playing experience is different. Speaking from my perspective, I play on the Gamepad just like a regular controller. The buttons are all in the right spot, just the size. But you become adjusted to that and its comfortable in your hands, once you use to it.

    • Rob Bean

We’ll see. Personally I’ve always thought the gamepad’s greatest value would be in giving players in the same room an online experience. If that’s all Nintendo is going to unveil then I think you’re right. Nintendo has always hinted that they thought the gamepad would blow people’s minds. Maybe they have some tricks up their sleeve.

  • Sdudyoy

I wish I could actually see this E3, but exciting nether the less.

  • YiyeUniverseMB

They should start putting out 10 second “teaser” trailers without even the name of the game, only with very cryptic clues, just to add hype. Something similar to how Sony teased PS4.

    • Nostalgic_Chaos

I dunno, I’d personally rather just take everything in, in one sitting while watching E3.
I do like your idea, though. I wouldn’t mind a teaser of a brand new Mario or something. Just a teaser for one game. The rest, I want to be a surprise.

  • Shaise

A “bunch” of games? That sounds promising.

  • http://Website.com Shane Michaels
  • iamserious

I’m thinking these new games that will show off the Wii U game pad will be received as gimmicky. I really hope Nintendo has a great E3. I’m looking forward to Smash, Bay 2, Monolith X, and Zelda U. I’m hoping for more games like Metroid, Star Fox, Shin Megami X Fire Emblem and maybe an Animal Crossing game and/or Pokemon RPG game.

  • http://Website.com Shane Michaels

The sound of the hype about to drop. I’m posting a lot, cause this news is making me giddy.

  • sharlo galmo

And many peeps say Nintendo has nothing to show….Nintendo is gonna drop a BIG BOM this E3…

    • leo

      cough cough like last year?

  • MetroidZero

GG, school papers, projects, tests, and homework assignments.

  • ShortyStock

    Kirby Quadruple Deluxe!

  • mar laguna

    Bring on the games
    PD: My body is ready

  • Gamemech10

We all know Zelda U is being announced. I just want my god damn mother f**king Metroid and Star Fox.

    • Gamemech10

And whatever the hell the pokemon game on Wii U is that was teased at an event.

    • leo

      dont hold your breath

  • Carlos Webster

    Wow… A new Metroid? That’s awesome!

  • WiiUPS4

Hummm Since john wrote i take what he says with a grain of salt but if nintendo does show off some new stuff they better lots of games coming and real soon

  • MerryBlind .

    Can’t wait for this!

  • MerryBlind .

In addition to new games (which is the most important), I REALLY hope they’ll make some kind of announcement like “Bayonetta 2 will be released Winter 2015 (and everybody will freak out in anger and tears for a couple of seconds) HOWEVER the reason for this delay, is that we’ve decided to bring you a Wii U remake of Bayonetta 1 this Fall 2014 to please fans and introduce the Bayonetta universe to new comers with the best, definitive, edition of Bayonetta 1″.

Some people might not agree with me, but thing is, I, and many other Wii U owners I’m sure of it, are excited for the sequel, yet we have never played the 1st one, so being able to enjoy both on the same console would be awesome!

    • 504HotBoy

That would make me upset. Mainly because Bayonetta 2 is one of my most anticipated games. I do think they should release the original for gamers who never played it. But I felt they should have done that in the 1st quarter of this year. I played and still own the original on my 360. Great game! If the sequal is as great as the original, you’re going to love it!

      • MerryBlind .

Yeah I agree they should have released it sooner, so that makes me think it’s not going to happen. I just don’t see why they wouldn’t do it. There is really no reasons not to port Bayonetta 1 to Wii U.

        • 504HotBoy

They may still release the original for Wii U. Especially if Bayonetta 2 is a success. I would love a re-release with added features and content. I hope Wii U owners go out and support the game when it’s released.

          • MerryBlind .

But it would make more sense to release the 1st one BEFORE its sequel, wouldn’t it? To generate anticipation for the sequel by growing the fan-base of the franchise and thus securing a couple more copies of the sequel.

          • 504HotBoy

Very true. But I don’t think they want to spend the money until they’re sure Bayonetta 2 is a success on Wii U. That’s why I hope they go out and support it.

  • I<3supermario3DworldandimAgirl

Mario party 10 will be shown and also yarn Yoshi

  • http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ Sam

    F-ZERO U!

  • crocodileman94

I hope they announce a new Pokémon Snap.

  • Leonardo Conti

    NEW F-ZERO AND METROID PLZ!!!

  • uPadWatcher

I would LOVE to see PlatinumGames reveal a new Wii U title.

    • Keronos

Would also love if Kamiya got his wish and is actually working on a Starfox game! Btw, didn’t he also say he had another game planned this year?

  • Rasputing

‘new zelda and metroid game’ AWESOME! ‘rumored’ DAMNIT!

  • http://its-yuma-tsukumo.tumblr.com/ Yuma Tsukumo

    Should hope so

  • condor87z

I wonder if we’ll get to see anything about Miyamotos new ip

    • Kenshin0011

We better! We’ve been waiting forever! I’m sure we will because Iwata just said above that the new games are overseen by Miyamoto

      • condor87z

Ah very true. Hopefully its as good as most all of the new IPs Nintendo comes out with. There usually don’t disappoint.

  • Will W

I would like to see a Super Smash bros. melee 2 remake announced.

    • Kenshin0011

      That’s extremely unlikely to happen

      • Keronos

        Don’t feed the trolls lol

    • condor87z

Why would they do that if a SSB game is already coming out?

  • SolarShane13

Maybe a redesigned Wii U too? Don’t listen to Nintendo denying’s, why would they reveal new hardware before E3?

    • Kenshin0011

Why would there be a wii u re design?

      • SolarShane13

DSi, DS Lite, and DS XL say hi.

        • Kenshin0011

          Those are all portables

          • SolarShane13

            The Wii had these too:

            Updated model without GC hardware.
            Wii Mini.

          • Kenshin0011

The Wii Mini is basically a joke. It’s a downgrade. There is not going to be a Wii U redesign because there’s nothing they can/need to change about the Wii U

          • Petri

I agree, Wii U is perfect as it is design wise.
I bet both PS4 and xbone will have “slim” editions before Nintendo touches Wii U.

          • SolarShane13

Even though the mini is a joke, it is STILL a “redesign”, no matter how bad it is.

          • Kenshin0011

            So?

          • SolarShane13

            So?

Nintendo could still do a redesign, either with the Wii U itself, or with the GamePad, and because of how quickly Nintendo squashed the rumors, I’m inclined to dis-believe what Nintendo says. (Seriously, what company kills rumors in the same week. They usually pull the “we don’t comment on rumors” line)

          • Kenshin0011

That’s little to no reason in and of itself to automatically think there’s going to be a redesign because the Wii U doesn’t need one. There’s nothing wrong with the Gamepad, it’s a great controller. And they wouldn’t change the console hardware because that’d make all previous wii u’s useless

          • SolarShane13

If a hardware change makes all previous versions useless, then I guess they shouldn’t have released the Wii mini as that makes all previous Wii’s useless ;)

          • Kenshin0011

Hope thats sarcasm…but in case, no, the Wii Mini has no online support and can’t play gamecube games making it useless right off the bat

          • greengecko007

Online support for the Wii is already being pulled anyways.

          • Keronos

True but the Wii mini is not a recent redesign in the first place

          • greengecko007

There also aren’t any recently made Wii games with active online communities. I’m just saying that the Wii mini not having online wasn’t a big deal, since there was basically no use for the online anyways.

          • Keronos

            ah, point taken

    • Dark Lord Sauron

      not likely

    • Brandon

There is no need in a redesign, they should just add more storage memory.

  • Kenshin0011

So I already expect Zelda U, more Smash characters revealed, more X information, etc. What I really want to see Nintendo do is bring Gamecube games to the eShop. There’s no reason why they cannot do that.

  • Ferd726

Wii U 2.0 500 GB or 1 TB or the same power like PS4 or Xbox One.

    • Kenshin0011

      Now way that’d ever happen

    • Decker Shado

Why would Nintendo downgrade the Wii U to be only as powerful as an XBox One?

      • Wilks

How is that a gowngrade? Both of those consoles are far more powerful than the WiiU.

    • leo

Then Nintendo would be the new SEGA… there stupid but, not that stupid ….

  • Petri

    I just want Bayonetta 2.
If E3 does not have a release date for it, I will go for a redneck rampage.
Otherwise, if they just deliver what they have promised so far, and then some, things are looking good.

  • Josie the Sketcher

So looking forward to what Nintendo are going to reveal at E3. What was the name of that SNES side scrolling game that Square Enix released where you start off as a fish and every stage the world evolves further and you change parts of the fish to become another animal – I would love to see another game like that.

    • condor87z

E.V.O search for eden! Oh how much I loved that game.

      • Josie the Sketcher

Yes that’s the one! Thanks for that, mate! Hope they will release it on virtual console or even better, a HD remake. That was a unique game.

        • thedeciderU

that game sounds awesome! will check into it tomorrow. any other under the radar snes games i need to look into?

  • John Andalora

I’ll hold my breath that it’s good, but I can’t keep high expectations.
After last year, I’m gonna keep my hopes low and be surprised at best.

    • matthew garcia

That’s exactly what I am going to do

    • leo

      yeah same here

  • Keronos

I Wonder if nintendoland holds the key to a hint for future games… This is just a theory of mine that I thought up. Each mini-game gives a hint to a future game. We did Animal Crossing new leaf, Pikmin 3, Dk crash course could have meant DK: Tropical Freeze, and Mario Chase for SM3DW

Also, Balloon Trip breeze could have meant NES Remix, and The Mysterious Yoshi Yarn could have got a hint from Yoshi Cart in nintendoland seeing how it does have a yarn design.

Now we just need to see New Metroid, F-Zero, Zelda, and maybe even Takamaru.
The only one I can’t put my finger on is the Octopus Dance…

Once again this is just a wild/random theory of mine. Don’t take it too seriously

    • condor87z

That would be great, I really want an animal crossing for the wii u.

      • Keronos

well i meant to say that New Leaf for the 3ds was the hinted game, but hey, animal crossing on the WiiU would be awesome as well!

        • condor87z

          Ah I missed that part

          • Keronos

            no worries

    • leo

      F-zero confirmed lol

      • Keronos

        I KNOW RIGHT!? lol

  • De5str0yer.

I just hope they show 2 (or 1) new IP . a F-ZERO/STARFOX/METROID game new Mario game maybe a Pokemon Wii U game and most importantly a Zelda game with some mindblowing visuals like the one on the E3 2011 wii u demonstration.

  • steveb944

I’m on that hype train! Don’t throw me off it Nintendo! Choo Choo!!!

  • Officer Raichu

    heres my guess for e3
    smash bros release dateand gameplay
bayonetta 2 release date and gameplay
hyrule warriers relase date and gameplay
fatal frame trailer release early 2015
yarn yoshi gameplay and release date
zelda u gameplay and hopefull a release
    x release date and gamplay
metroid u gameplay early 2015 release date and a trailer
star fox u 2014 realse date and gamplay
animal crossing u 2014 relase date and trailer(now play as dictator and torture your citizens :P)
then end it off with a huge pokemon wii u announcement(pokken fighters or z possibly in my opinion both slated for summer 2015

    • Officer Raichu

now this sound like a lot but this is going to be like 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hrs long they can fit it all in like microsoft this year at e3

    • Officer Raichu

Now my guess is a 2 hr Direct but in a more humorous way
      like the past directs
Miyamotos gonna start playing as a comedian
      Sakouris gonna troll
and Iwatas just gonna say please understand WHEN THERES NOTHING TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT!

    • Mario

What about the figurines and 3DS titles?

      • Officer Raichu

        forgot about that
        heres my guess
        NFC: nintendo rpg
        and some new ip
        3ds titles:
        metroid 2.5 d game trailer
pokemon os and ar release date and trailer
smash bros 3ds relase date and trailer
        yokia watch american trailer
        tomadachi life trailer
brand new advance wars 3ds game to use nfc
they wont have a lot of titles announced for 2015 but will slowly announce them as the year goes on

        • Mario

          Will see. :-)

    • Dark Lord Sauron

zelda u wont be out till 2015 but hyrule warriors is coming out this year

      • Officer Raichu

yeah i did say it is like a 10 percent chance of happening if it does happen thats a little treat

  • Officer Raichu

The next animal crossing will be called Animal Crossing:Ur Highness where your a dictator that can force you citizens to go to war or become slaves
    rated M for animal abuse

  • jhell

    I am so hype

  • asdfg

I’m so hyped that sometimes I feel I’m gonna explode if I don’t watch this E3 soon
Does anyone else feels the same way?????

    • Dark Lord Sauron

just dont hype way too much or you ll get burned just like the people that over hyped on video game awards

      • asdfg

        Too late :(

        • Scott

That’s how I was last E3 when they revealed that they would announce a 3D Mario.

That said, when the Direct started and we got 3D World I kinda died a little inside.

  • wiimenonowiiu

Wow this is new from kinsley positive

  • FutureFox

Let me guess: near completion means won’t be released for another year and early development means they’ll show drawing boards.

  • Purple

I would love to see Nintendo announce, Wario World 2 !

  • Coval83

show me what You got Nintendo… Zelda U… Metroid Prime 4. WiiU need them Mr Iwata…For many that’s QOL…

  • Brandon

    f-zero UX!!!!!!!!!!

  • sd

I have been very negative about my comments lately towards the Wii U and I think Nintendo have given me reason to be so. But I do really hope that Nintendo pull something out of the bag that wows people. If they can show numerous great games for the Wii U and stimulate sales i will be very happy. It is a great system, its problem until now has been the very poor handling of the system by Nintendo.

Lets hope this changes and that my predictions of abandonment are incorrect.

  • WriterTown

    I LOVE YOU NINTENDO!

  • leo

By many the mean 3. Those 3 will be released in late 2015 or early 2016. Then they will be delayed and Iwata will start with his bullshit excuse “please understand”. Seriously that’s how I see this going down. I have just lost hope for Nintendo …

  • Leo

I would love to see more of Yarn Yoshi!

  • WellWisher

I’m not getting my hopes up, but it really seems as though Nintendo now realises who is actually buying the Wii U: the Nintendo faithful. If that means more games like those in the Gamecube era, I’ll be a happy camper.

  • gamingpalooza

well.. it would be cool to see some new wii u games… I hope “multiple” doesn’t mean two new games.

    • Scott

      You know it does.

      This is Nintendo.

  • nintendogamer1

Nintendo needs to cut the bullshit with the indie games and start promoting a lot of physical discs games—AND NOTJUST 1ST PARTY NINTENDO TITLES!!! THATS NOT ENOUGH!!!

    • CydeFxt

I agree with you, but i don’t think the indie scene is BS.

  • juan

Hyrule warriors, the new zelda and metroid. Then since I’m pretty sure they have collaboration projects maybe just maybe someone stepped up to the plate from another developer and decided to help create star fox and fzero. Maybe a remake of eternal darkness and breaking news that shadow of the eternal will be funded by nintendo to be released only on wii u. I know a lot for one show but hey it could happen

  • Fierce-Deity Link

as far as new games.. i think we will see 3 if that.. if that is the case then it will be the s.t.e.a.m. thing that was mentioned a while back, miyamoto’s new ip and maybe a revival of an old ip… preferably f-zero.. im biased.. i know xd

    • MujuraNoKamen

      New IPs :D
I hope they’re something exciting not some familiar 2D platformers or something.
And I’d love a new Mother or Eternal Darkness!

  • Andrew Longo

spoiler: the games are- super mario 3d land 2, new super marios bros 3, some new rayman, some new bs other side scrolling baby game. your welcome

    • RecheDiazrivarola

      OK the party is over

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Sounds good, hopefully not “sounds better then it is” I won’t allow myself to get to hyped for all we know it could again be dissapointing although doubtfull. But yeah, Shigeru Miyamoto overseeing all projects gives me a reason to still be a little hyped. Go Shigeru, show the world that Nintendo is not obsolete as the media, haters and even a bunch of gamestores would try to let us believe.

If anything can/will change Shigeru Miyamoto is the man to bring the change we want and Wii U needs.

  • WarioForever

    ZEEEEEEELDAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • anthony optimo

I would be totally satisfied if Nintendo presented an update at E3 that allowed me to browse the E-Shop, browse the internet, make posts on mii verse, play games, all of this on the gamepad mind you, while I watch Hulu/YouTube/Netflix on the television, from my Wii U. The ability to multitask like this would make my Wii U an even more essential gaming and entertainment hub, aside from my PC.

If there is a way of doing this with currently, please instruct this fellow game enthusiast if not I would like to see an update like that.

  • Danny Hobo

I know it will not happen, but a Final Fantasy for Wii U would be so awesome!

  • springer85

Sorry but they should have done this at last years E3!!!If they did and shown amazing new games arriving, it would have got a lot of sales from consumers who were thinking of getting a U but ended up with a PS4!
It is a case of to little to late, the Wii U needs at least $50-$75 off the price, a Wii U deluxe and a game for $199 would sell like hot cakes.
Miyamoto said 14 months ago said he was working on a brand new IP yet 14 months later and still NOTHING about it.If it does not get mentioned at E3 then his new game is a load of tosh just used by Nintendo to try and gain hype.
At E3 Nintendo need to show Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero type game, Miyamoto new IP,a tease of the new Mario in development,X release date, cheap new console for China must be awesome and not another cheap gimmick, huge price drop and lots of 3rd party games that are going to be released and Nintendo may just be able to save the Wii U.

    • Dark Lord Sauron

      where have u been troll

  • Froakiefan8

PLEASE GIVE ME STAR FOX!!!!! Although Nintendo should have done this since launch, it is better late than never. I also hope for a Super Mario Galaxy 3, with two full player compatibility and Rosalina as a playable character.

    • springer85

Yeah all this should have been done at last years E3.
Nintendo again got way to stubborn, thinking that Mario would again save the Wii U and then stupidly release it in the UK and Europe on the same day PS4 launched!
While Mario World was an awesome game it was game no one really wanted.
Nintendo need to pull out all the stops at E3 and shock the world, otherwise the Wii U is history!

  • Dáibhí wotshissurname

I dont believe theMetroid rumours. Only last September did Miyamoto express the consideration that Retro could work on a new Metroid title, and even if that has been arranged since, it would be too early in the game’s life to even show off a preview build.

    • Gabe Hoffman

Exactly. Retro has just started work on their next game and have been working on it for a little over six months. There is no way they would have the game ready to show by E3. The only feasible I can see a Metroid reveal happening is if its done by a different developer

  • Q Mulative

That S.T.E.A.M. (Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace) is going to be one of them for sure.
Nintendo ought to be highlighting the fact that they can run the only 8th Gen console that can profit without subscription fees and dashboard-ads.

    • Commander Jim

Not sure how cheap hardware a generation behind, the reason they can sell at a profit, as with the Wii, is something beneficial to gamers or something they’d want to highlight.

      • Q Mulative

Only complete idiots actually believe that generation-behind propaganda, especially as the Wii U currently has the biggest library of games running at a full 1080p at 60 frames per second.

        • oontz

          Says the complete idiot

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Ahh….the usual sour grapes response.

          • Q Mulative

            Ahh…. the usual idiot response.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Ahh…the usual anger response.;P

  • Derek

    Hopeful for a new IP

  • Commander Jim

Well I should fricken hope so.

  • Cyntheta Luis

Sometimes I see all those people telling Nintendo what to do I will have this weird hallucinations of seeing overbearing parents telling their child what to do, and making plans for them ahead in the future thinking that this is for the best of them.

Of course if this is the case Nintendo will be this child that made an early success after college and start having problems in their work due to them not listening to their parents (fans).

I think I’ve been playing too much games on the Wii U because I’ve been raiding cheap 20 dollars Deux Ex human Revolution for so long.
    …I need some rest.

  • MujuraNoKamen

All aboard the hype train! (maybe?)
Can’t wait for Zelda Wii U and they better not disappoint us and delay Xeno.
It’ll be interesting to finally get more details on Yarn Yoshi, SMT/FE and whatever other crossovers are in development.
Fingers crossed for Metroid, Starfox or some other big franchises too let’s just hope this year isn’t a deluge of 2D platformers and delays.

  • HydePark1980

Typical gamers of the generation, we kick and scream for more games on Nintendo’s part. When it’s finally confirmed that games are in development and on the way, what do we do? Kick even harder and scream even louder.

  • devmiles

well, first see then believe nintendo…. i’m sick of your announcements

  • ZeldaFan83

It’d be awesome if they showed off some new IP’s instead of the same ones they show every year just rehashed. I wonder what Retro Studios is up to? Hmm….lol

  • linxz

hopefully it won’t be a bunch of stay healthy and pet the dog crap. let’s see at least one mature title to bring a few new users onboard.

    • Emil Hallin

I agree, I think it’s time for Nintendo to think of the more mature genre and get rid of all the children content. It’s good to have a few, but they’ve overextended it a little to be honest. But Mario Kart 8 and SSB will hopefully be awesome though.

    • C4

If I could pick one “casual” game it would be Nintendogs U… :)

  • Geoffrey Tasker

Zelda was confirmed months ago. It’s not a rumor at this point

  • Guest

    PSO 2 please.

    • Pikachief

man PSO2 would ROCK on Wii U.

  • Linskarmo

We know that the new LoZ game will be introduced, so I’m really hoping for a fully-fledged Metroid game. That could be epic.

  • gerome

nintendo announced they have one major upcoming collaboration effort. there is a rumor supposedly from an anonymous developer flowing around that nintendo’s new collaboration will be inspired by square enix’s and disney’s kingdom hearts universe, with an epic history similar to what kingdom hearts is doing. smash bros already puts all nintendo universes together, but it seems this new collaboration will do it in the way kingdom hearts does it. i hope that if this rumor is really true, nintendo’s partner is also disney, because other partner’s might not have the big appeal nintendo needs for this game, although i’m not sure if disney would like to use their characters wth nintendo while they are doing it with square enix.

      How about Project H.A.M.M.E.R?

      • nin-10-doughfan

maybe it is coming out for the wii u since it did not made daylight on the wii!

    • Caleb Dudley

I enjoyed Conduit 2. It was like the only good scifi shooter on the wii. It still had some serious issues, but it’d be cool if it was improved upon.

  • Ian Settlemyer

As long as Zelda WiiU looks like that tech demo then I’ll be satisfied!

    • Pikachief

It wont and they confirmed it wont.

      • asdfg

        Source?

  • verymetal

If they don’t deliver this time, then the agony felt by most of their fanbase will be hard to rectify in the future.

    • Scott

      This E3:

Super Mario 3D World 2 – Because the first one was REALLY well received by core 3D Mario fans. Not many people like 64 and Sunshine anyway…
Zelda II HD – Because we want to give you as many remakes as possible before giving you an original Zelda. Please understand, we’re seriously going to announce Zelda U any day now. We promise.
Yarn Yoshi – It’s another 2D platformer, because we don’t have enough of those!
Wii Fit U Plus – Because you’re our bitch and you’ll buy the same not-actually-a-game for the fourth time now!
And now our new game from Retro – what do people think about… MET-Donkey Kong Country 5? Because 2D platformer!
And we need more time to finish Smash Bros. so we’re pushing it back to 2016. Please understand!

      • Commander Jim

        All to likely.

  • David Flick

Give me a sequel to dk64 and nintendo automatically wins e3. Also couldn’t complain with a paper mario with partners like ttyd and the first. Oh and toss in a new strikers, metroid, star fox, jet force Gemini and you have me sold for years

  • Magnus Eriksson

Super Apologize Brothers and PleaseUnderstandoid. Those are the games we will get.

  • Scott

    I don’t need a reveal, just a confirmation.

    Open World Mario
    OR
    Traditional 3D Mario

  • zdog

Please to everything I hold dear… POKEMON SNAP 2! You wanna talk about the value of the game pad?

  • c-s-a78

    wiiU party10 please!!

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo
  • snaek

“…Wii U games at E3 will represent games that are ‘near completion’ and games that are ‘in early development’.”

Iwata said at some point they’d like to announce games closer to their release, and since Aonuma said he’s saying more about Zelda at E3, maybe this means it’s actually not too far away from release?

I’m still vouching for 2015 but maybe it won’t be as late in 2015 as you’d think?

In short – my body is so damn ready

  • CCM

Zelda is not a rumored game. In fact it’s EXPECTED to be shown and to be one of the biggest if not THE biggest single game at the show!

As far as them showing a “bunch of brand new Wii U games” well I sure the hell $#%#^ hope so! They NEED all the exclusives they can get!

  • MewThree28

Am I the only one thinking of a new Paper Mario? Seems like that franchise is well-forgotten by most people

  • Christopher McNair

Will Miyamoto’s “gamepad” games be Wii Musicpad U? Pikpad U? Gardenpad U?

  • alexdodoll

This going to be a E3 Nintendo Direct for a simple reason : they want to avoid fails like the other time with Zelda: Skyward Sword.
