Girl villager from Animal Crossing playable in Super Smash Bros.

super_smash_bros_female_villager

Today’s Super Smash Bros. screenshot from developer Masahiro Sakurai showcases alternate skins for the Animal Crossing villager added for this game. Sakurai also posted on Miiverse along with this screenshot, saying:

“Pic of the day. You can choose to play as the girl villager too!! How lovely.”

In the screenshot you can see several outfits for both the male and the female villager, so perhaps it’s possible you’ll have several different unlockable costumes once the game finally releases. Are you excited about playing the Villager? During our Super Smash Bros. Direct poll, he was one of the least favorite character movesets.

Please understand, Super Smash Brothers for Wii U has been canceled and will be replaced by a brand new title from Platinum games, please take a look:

Who needs smash anyways? Just give us New Super Mario Bros U. 2, and Donkey Kong Tundra Heat!

        And Wii Fit U2.

Sir are you sure? I am pretty sure the trend was to delay.

  • Ducked

Nintendo is really outdoing themselves. My anticipation has gone from here, to… Nope same place. I’d sure like Chrom in smash.

  • Seth S. Scott

The Smash Bros pic today is great on so many levels…especially for the possibility of more character re-skins. Hands crossed for Doc Mar back!!!

Guys, commenting pretending to be from Nintendo of America, Reggie, or anyone else is getting old. I’m going to start deleting and banning comments from these accounts as they continue to be disruptive.

    • jjbredesen

Ok, i will stop, was planning on stopping soon anyway.

      • McBlink
        • jjbredesen

I was behind NOA and Reggie, Daniel Gonzales is behind Iwata.

          • Rinslowe

            Interesting… lol.

          • jjbredesen

Yeah, wanted to lighten up the comment section on the periods of bad news etc, but i guess i did it a bit to much.

          • BIG Franky

you didn’t…. anyone complaining is a lonely man-baby with no friends, personality, or sense of humor. people seriously need to lighten-up. God forbid we have fun around here… sheesh!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I never saw the harm in these accounts, and still stand by what I said that they were done in good humor. Rule is a rule, so just the way it is.

          • Mario

Mario: Yeah! Just take a me for example! :D

          • jjbredesen

Thank you :D, i guess i will have to find a new way to entertain you guys :/

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Only on this site. I’m still able to use Iwata on other disqus related sites. Though, I did give my word to not use it here again. :P

          • jjbredesen

True, i have used NOA a bit on Zeldainformer and other small sites, but the response is always the best here.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True. Though, I never did branch out Iwata other than here, so I may try my hand elsewhere with that account. If I manage to find a place that it’s appreciated, I’ll let you know. We’ll just have to find new homes for them.:P

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah, a tad. Lol. I had a few, but Iwata was the only one I used primarily. It was fun while it lasted. Had fun with it.

          • jjbredesen

            Me to :/

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Likewise. I found your accounts in good taste and humor. Despite my rep here, Iwata had a nice run and I don’t regret it. I had fun with it. Maybe someday, we’ll be able to continue them, but I doubt anytime soon. Lol.

          • jjbredesen

Thank you, your Iwata was my inspiration and it was an extremely well build character and you gave me a lot of laughs.

Once Ashley bans someone it will be permanent unless se changes her mind, i am an exception though xD

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, I’m glad I inspired you to do something that you had fun doing. I never saw it as that good, or maybe I’m modest, I don’t know. Lol. Most saw it as good humor and seemed to have enjoyed it with the exception of a handful that were vocal about it. You did a good job yourself, which did convince me to bring back Iwata and continue to entertain people. They’re gone, but not forgotten. We had a good run. :)

Almost an exception. I was banned earlier for it, but was reinstated. :P

          • jjbredesen

            Yup it was fun :)

          • darkcreap

I’m all confused now. Does Reggie live in Norway? Nor-way!!
            Sorry, easy joke :D

          • jjbredesen

            lol, yes he does xD

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            He’s also sober now. Finally.

          • jjbredesen

It took almost a year, but at least Nintendo will now have no problems, Reggie was replaced with Reggie Fils Amech though :/

          • Schultz38

I personally didn’t find the accounts that disruptive. I feel Daniel’s “Let me say something that I don’t really mean because I know it’ll annoy fanboys but I’m not actually trolling you just aren’t mature enough” much more annoying.

It’s basically why I quit commenting/coming to this site. He had to make his opinion known on every article, then it evolved into trolling.

          • jjbredesen

Opinions :P I respect him, and think he has a point, but sometimes he goes more on the PS side. But hey we are all guilty of criticizing/trolling or whatever you want to call it.

Just because someone has a different opinion does not make someone a troll, but i understand what you are saying.

          • Schultz38

I’ve talked/read him for at least a year now. He definitely changed the way he approached things the worse things got with the Wii U. I think he was fed up with how crummy Nintendo has dealt with the Wii U because he genuinely wanted them to do better. He was also fed up with blind followers. But that’s no excuse to cause chaos in the comments. :P

His differing opinions never bothered me! I felt some of the discussions he offered gave life to the comment section. However, somewhere in the last 4 to 6 months he went from honest opinions to trying to say things to purposefully get people angry (pretty sure he admitted to that at one point – or something to that extent).

My point was his comments (the more recent ones) were MUCH more disruptive than NoA, Reggie, etc. Not necessarily anything bad against him! :) I do a lot more reading than commenting so he probably doesn’t even know me lol.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I know who you are. I just don’t sweat your opinion of me, nor anyone else. It’s been noted more than once I’m sure. Despite that, it’s not going to change how I express myself. I’m cool with the positive or negative responses I get. If I’m a troll due to just a difference of opinion, then so be it.

          • jjbredesen

/ This is why is respect you.

          • Schultz38

I respect you and your opinion! Everyone is entitled to one. I’ve just observed what seems to me to not be your actual opinion. Usually to get a response from the likes of Jay, TruthTeller, etc. which is what I translated as chaotic.

Re-reading my original post I definitely could’ve worded things nicer. Didn’t mean offense in anyway. No hard feelings I hope.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Not trying to be a dick or anything, just being firm on my beliefs. Any opinion of mine, whether it’s believed or not, is 100% genuine. If I do have a sarcastic comment, it’s usually because I tend to tease people too, and that’s just part of my personality. Not much can be helped if users on this site can’t appreciate that. I take the bad with the good in these situations. Though, someone like Jay, usually had it coming, as he always came off to me as a dick. Lol. So my responses back to him was normally sarcastic.

Truthteller, well….that’s another story. While he was an ass, no doubt about that, there was some truth in his words and I did agree with some things as well. I have no hard feelings toward anyone who is at least respectful about their opinions and disagreements. Those who decide to make it personal rather than stick to the topic at hand, I for the most part, ignore or poke fun at them. Either way, it’s all good, these kinds of responses I can get behind and respect. :)

          • Greg Lanciotti

if you don’t like nintendo, don’t come to the site. simple as that. And your defensiveness in this comment is completely unfounded. Fool. If you’re constantly posting annoying shit, people are naturally going to talk about you. duh. don’t try to call them out like they are the ones doing something wrong…

          • Greg Lanciotti

            #youwillneverwinagainstme

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What is there to be won? If you think there was a battle here, then you already lost. I’m sure there is better ways to fill up your ego meter. Later buddy.

          • Nintendo Of North Korea

Jeez, while I don’t agree with Daniels opinions it doesn’t mean I’m gonna give him a spaz attack. I’d suggest you play a quick game of Dr. Mario with the the song Chill at full blast because your kind of being a fiery fanboy. Calm down.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

If expressing my opinion is wrong, then you must be new to the internet. More importantly, if you don’t like what I have to say, use your mouse wheel to scroll away from the comment, otherwise, you’re the fool for paying attention to it. Don’t like, move along. Simple as that. Don’t act like you aren’t guilty of the same things that many of us have done. :)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well appreciated. Nice to see people can find the positives in one’s opinion rather than attack it. Need more people like you on this site, jj. :)

          • jjbredesen

Thanks!, and we need more of you, opinions are good, and a bit of debate is sort of what the comment section is for, as long as opinions don’t become personal attacks, i respect them if the person is able to defend it.

            Your a good man.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

You’re a good man too. Even if I don’t always agree with some of your opinions, I never see a reason to attack them as you are entitled to them. Even so, it is the internet, so it’s the norm for most to react before thinking. It is a shame. :/

          • BIG Franky

            wow… #manbabies

        • Mario

          LOL.

    • iamserious

      Thank you Ashley!

    • darkcreap

Is it really that disruptive? I mean, they are false accounts, but they don’t spam that much and do not cause flames.

      • BIG Franky

there was nothing disruptive to it. its silliness to ban such light-hearted nonsense.

    • Rinslowe

I honestly didn’t see that coming, lol. You obviously believe they have been disruptive. Fair call. I just thought they were kinda funny.
      Still, fair enough.
      :)

    • http://alwaysnintendo.com/ Jelani Thompson

Hey, those are funny :( I had a question though. I also own a Nintendo-based gaming site and I’d like to make a large community such as yours. I’m starting to get sick of making post after post with 0 comments each XD What are your tips for making a big Disqus community, and what tools/strategies have you used? I got into Google News, but that hasn’t helped much. Thanks for all your help and keep up the great blogging!

      • Rinslowe

        Trolls and lots of em!
        ;P

    • DoctorWily

I actually enjoy the comments from these accounts. It’s pretty obvious they aren’t real and were done for some comic relief. I hope you change your mind.

    • BIG Franky

Ashley, FWIW I think the NoA or Reggie comments are hilarious… don’t be such a hard-ass. relax…. its one thing if they are attacking others and causing fights… but they never have… its all in good fun… don’t be a stick in the mudd.

      • SolarShane13

Well, having impersonator accounts could get the poster and/or this site in serious trouble. Plus, isn’t it a crime to impersonate someone?

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Lol. It’s not a crime to impersonate a celebrity over the net. Especially when it’s too obvious that they are fakes. It’s only an actual crime if you decided to take their social security for example, or even hack into their personal accounts. Otherwise, I don’t see how it would hold in court. Besides, don’t comedians impersonate other celebs all the time? Food for thought.

    • Miguel Angel Barrueta Hernánde

Im with you Ashley, its really annoying…

    • zerooooo

Dont mess with chick on their period…

    • SolarShane13

Finally! Glad to see those obvious fakers gone :)

But, where’s the bashing? I suggest basically the same thing and get bashed and told to “deal with them”.

    • Dominicruz

take it easy Ashley they just trying to have fun we really enjoy it

    • Yoshifan3

or you know, you can quit being a baby let some people have fun. quit being such a party pooper. i swear your like buzz killington sometimes.

so what if people make fake accounts? let them.

wow make this sitre worse good job

  • Daniel Ireland

Oh, it’s just a skin… good. Thought there was going to be another Animal Crossing character I’d never use.

  • Raptok

Its interesting to see they aren’t just re-textures, but actual new models, hopefully clones from the same series like Lucina and Marth can get this sort of treatment as well!

  • Zuxs13

I hope they use the NFP figurines for Smash (hopefully Mario Kart as well). It would be a great way to get the figurines to start selling, then they can introduce many other games for them to be useable in.
I also hope Club Nintendo Rewards will start using NFP tech. My Mario and friends Statuette would be pretty awesome if it had an NFC chip in it and i could play all the characters on it in any game. Damn Id be allover Club Nintendo every year (oh wait i already am).

    • Rinslowe

Something else to take out our frustrations on except the controllers. Great idea!
Not that I intend on doing a lot of losing….
      :P

      • Zuxs13

Haha, Since i have grown up and the controllers have gotten so damn expensive, i have had to resort to throwing pillows instead. I don’t think hitting my TV that cost me $7,000 with a controller that cost $60 would be a good idea any more. Though it hasn’t stopped me from throwing my smart phone!.

        • Rinslowe

That was me getting used to the PS3 controller way back in the day with CoD. After already owning the 360 for about 2 years it was a “shock” to say the least…
Everything was just so imprecise. Now is a different story though.
          :)

Now, I just throw the “awesome”

          • Michael Ocampo

Wouldn’t you say it was a… Dualshock? ;D

          • Rinslowe

            Indeed :)

  • Nookling

Good this was a must. Very pleased with it!

  • Nookling

I hope the one with dopey eyes shows up too

  • Mayoo

Is this one of the reason why it is taking so much time? Seriously, get the fucking thing out. All we need is one character per move set. Stop fooling around Nintendo.

  • Nostalgic_Chaos

For me personally, I found this to be one of the best Smash Bros updates yet. Why you ask…? Because it opens up so many doors and possibilities for ALL characters to have different skins. We’ve seen Wire Frame Mac, and I think so far that he had been the only character confirmed to have a skin. Now that more than one character is confirmed, I think we can now call this a ‘thing’. Oh, and Wii Fit Trainer was confirmed as well.

Maybe this was obvious to some of you already, but it was never clear if it was only going to be just a few characters having skins. I think it’s finally safe to say that all characters will most likely have at least one different version of themselves. I will happily use the female villager skin more often that the male, as the game is in need of more variety when it comes to female characters.

The villager skin in the yellow stripy top looks a bit coo-koo. Cocaine, is indeed a hell of a drug.

    • http://Website.com Shane Michaels

      How about a Proto-Man skin?

      http://i.imgur.com/YQeRr8i.jpg

      • Mario

Whoa! Where did you got that!? Is that real!?

        • http://Website.com Shane Michaels

Not real, very fake, still wonderful.

          • Mario

            Ohh… :(

          • http://Website.com Shane Michaels

Hopefully real, but at this point, I’ll have to say its fake.

          • Mario

            Yay. :D

  • BIG Franky

Ashley, FWIW I think the NoA or Reggie comments are hilarious… don’t be such a hard-ass. relax…. its one thing if they are attacking others and causing fights… but they never have… its all in good fun… don’t be a stick in the mudd.

  • Nintendo Of North Korea

Ok, but can I still be named Nintendo of North Korea?

    • darkcreap

      Yes, my beloved Leader!!!

    • Rinslowe

Could you post that gif again of the three guys launching a missile and clapping to themselves. That had me in stitches. Not sure what is was about it, but hilarious.

      • jjbredesen

        That was me :P

        • Rinslowe

          Aren’t you the same guy?

          • jjbredesen

            Nope.

  • BIG Franky

I personally think Nintendo is missing an opportunity here if they don’t bring Wonder-Pink into the fold. If they want solid Female representation, might as well bring in an amazing fun character like her… better than “Female Villager” LOL… just my 2 cents.

    • darkcreap

      Um, yes. That whip…

  • greengecko007

The yellow one looks noticeably smaller than the rest, but I’m guessing this is just an issue with the perspective. Having a smaller version of the same character would be weird for an alternate skin.

  • X3Charlie

I still kinda wish they would’ve used villagers from New Leaf, I really enjoyed the new model.

  • condor87z

Pretty happy with this, they could have just done different colored shirts for the male villager. This is a welcomed addition.

  • MerryBlind .

Thank God it’s an alternate skin… For a second I thought it was a new character… It’s cool as an alternate skin for the Villager though!

  • http://Website.com Shane Michaels
  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

Uhm no, I’m not excited to play a seemingly way to OP character, please turn them into assist Trophies. Maybe that’s to much wishfull thinking but from what I have seen, they are very OP. Time will tell whether or not they are what I think they are, I’ll find out next month on my 3DS or “next” (late this) year on Wii U. (Still not happy about that decision, am I the only one?)

    • Michael Ocampo

Honestly, if you don’t like the Villager then don’t use him (i guess her now too XD). Don’t take off a character just because you think it seems “OP”

      • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I’m not intending to use the villager indeed nor the Wii Fit trainer, I’ll likely use the same character(s) as I have always done since the first SSB game. But if you play online against people using OP chars, is no fun either, maybe he/she seems Over Powered and in the actual game they are not it’s just the introduction of the character makes me think it’s OP.

Until the actual game we can’t be certain though and therefor we’ll see if the char is Balanced in comparison with the others or not after the game releases.

In the end I’ll have to play with them anyway though, albeit only to unlock the endings.

  • Nobke

I was praying you could be Female villager. So excited for this.

  • Guest

I’m really glad Sakurai took this route. It’ll certainly make games with Villager a lot more interesting.

  • http://www.mgo2.com/ Neferpitou

I’m so glad Sakurai went this route. It’ll certainly make matches with Villager a lot more diverse and interesting.

  • SolarShane13

    Yet another WTF clone :(

    Smash is the new MK8.

    • 00EpicGamer00

Umm, you do realize this is just a alternate skin for the villager, right? It’s not taking up a character slot. it’s just a costume. Kind of like how in previous titles, you can change the color of your character. Same concept here.

      • SolarShane13

        Ooops. Didn’t read the subtitles.

        • 00EpicGamer00

No big deal. Everyone makes mistakes. :)

  • Derek

I like the villager. At least his series actually comes to most Nintendo systems these days.
